By Farai D Hove | The Special Advisor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Christopher Mutsvangwa yesterday spoke on how Zanu PF “will resoundingly win” the next elections in 2018.

Mutsvangwa’s revelation on Mnangagwa’s election strategy comes as the President himself told about 7000 delegates that there is no opposition in Zimbabwe. There is no opposition to talk about… ZANU PF must win all seat from Beitbridge to Chirundu, said Mnangagwa.

Mutsvangwa mentioned ZANU PF’s three pronged strategy which he detailed in the following list as ZimEye reveals on full video today:

  •  the chiefs.

  • the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (the best army in the world).

  • we shall work hard.

Speaking at the one day Zanu PF special congress, the first of its kind in many years, Mutsvangwa poured accolades on Mnangagwa’s leadership saying: “We are going to back to mazuva edu e-chimurenga where leadership and the cadreship were the same and we war vets are so happy that we are in this meeting. Together with the membership of the party, we were chastised; we were being removed from the party that we love, now we are feeling at home; Cde President we love you and we thank you.”

“I also want to mention the young man Jah Prayzah who became a victim of the G40 just an ordinary musician expressing his views in song; I salute him,” said Mutsvangwa referring to an incident in which Jah Prayzah was pelted with stones and chased away from a graveyard at the funeral of his former bodyguard, Chris Nyemba.

On elections Mutsvangwa said, “Cde President we are pledging to you our support for the 2018 elections that election, you shall win on a magnitude bigger than the one which we did in 1980; we are going to work hard with our chiefs, we are going to work hard with our illustrious ZDF, the best army in the world.”

He went further to praise General Constantino Chiwenga saying: “We want to salute our General Chiwenga who leads the most professional army in the world; we will work hard. They will remain in the barracks but we shall work hard to make sure that we win the election. We will run that election in a free and democratic manner which will impress the whole world, so that your victory will make Zimbabweans stand high among the nations of the world as a democratic country. We are the first ever liberation movement which decided to go into election in 1980; Others just walked into power by guns. We will keep that democratic tradition. It is a Zimbabwean tradition.”

Mutsvangwa also saluted youths in Bulawayo who were victim of what he called former President Robert Mugabe’s tantrums.

  1. The rogue Junta forced the leading presidential candidate to pull out of the run-off election that he was certain to win June 2008. They did so by establishing the so called bases in remote rural areas where perceived MDC-T supporters were publicly tortured, maimed, raped and killed. The corrupt and pleasure seeking MDC-T leadership decided to ignore these acts of brutality and lawlessness and joined their supporters’ killers in the so called GNU. Now they have staged a friendly coup to replace a constitutionally elected one of their own and replace him with an unelected one of their own. All these acts were in flagrant violation of the Constitution yet the opposition continued to work with these people telling people they will win elections. It requires new opposition leaders to craft a new approach to getting the generals out of politics. Elections under these circumstances will yield no good news for the suffering masses.

  2. War vets, chiefs masquerading as Guky party political commissars and the security forces masquerading as Boarder Gezi Chipangano recruits will not produce free, fare and credible elections.
That statement alone by Mutsvangwa will see the sanctions being maintained.

  3. Chris Mutsvangwa and Josiah Hungwe have said that ED and ZANU PF will win the 2018 Elections becoz Soldiers,War Vets and Traditional Chiefs are going to be used to campaign and rig the Elections for ED and ZANU PF. So how will free, fair, credible and legitimate elections materialise? If this happens then the Elections will be disputed and the ED led Military Junta will remain illegitimate. They are shooting themselves in the Foot and Voters should teach these Election Thieves a lesson they will Never forget. Never say Never becoz who knew that Mugabe would be removed from Power thru a Military Coup led by Generals? Divine Intervention will determine the Election outcome in 2018. God has mysterious ways of answering People ‘s Prayers. History doesn’t repeat itself but it often Rymes. Time is the greatest equaliser.

  4. This one party frame of mind is what got us as a nation to where we are now. As a nation and as a people we should not allow it to happen again under our watch. Even Zanu itself choked under its so called one centre of power (a euphemism for dictatorship!)

  5. Zanu did not decide to go for elections in 1980. Nobody was winning on the battlefront, there was a stalemate, which forced everybody concerned to the Lancaster agreement. The winning liberation movements are the ones that marched all the way to the city and grabbed power. Smith was not defeated by the gun. Kwana iwe

  6. This sounds very empty. There is nothing concrete here. Nothing away from the culture of dictatorship. Its just a cover up for looting.

  7. DON’T BE TOO EXCITED! THIS IS POLITICS ! THE PEOPLE HAVE HAD TOONE OF UNFULFILLED PROMISES! THE ONLY THING I CAN CONGRATULATE YOU FOR IS REMOVAL OF THAT BIG EGO OLDMAN WHO RUINED ZIMBABWE”S ECONOMY! THANK YOU FOR HUMILIATING HIM AT LAST. EMERSON, YOU TOO WERE HUMILIATED BY THAT MAD GIRL DIS GRACE! HOPE YOU LEARNED A LESSON!
