Statements made by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s advisor Chris Mutsvangwa and also Masvingo Minister Josiah Hungwe, that ZANU PF is going to utilise the army to win the upcoming elections, have set tongues wagging amid denials by the party’s Legal Secretary Paul Mangwana who has since off opened up more worms.
“I personally don’t subscribe to that notion of having or using the military in the forthcoming elections. Zanu PF has the capacity to win the elections without the military,” Mangwana told the weekly The Standard paper.
The development comes after Mutsvangwa made the latest statement on Friday.

By Farai D Hove | The Special Advisor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Christopher Mutsvangwa yesterday spoke on how Zanu PF “will resoundingly win” the next elections in 2018.
Mutsvangwa’s revelation on Mnangagwa’s election strategy comes as the President himself told about 7000 delegates that there is no opposition in Zimbabwe. There is no opposition to talk about… ZANU PF must win all seat from Beitbridge to Chirundu, said Mnangagwa.
Mutsvangwa mentioned ZANU PF’s three pronged strategy which he detailed in the following list as ZimEye reveals on full video today:

Speaking at the one day Zanu PF special congress, the first of its kind in many years, Mutsvangwa poured accolades on Mnangagwa’s leadership saying: “We are going to back to mazuva edu e-chimurenga where leadership and the cadreship were the same and we war vets are so happy that we are in this meeting. Together with the membership of the party, we were chastised; we were being removed from the party that we love, now we are feeling at home; Cde President we love you and we thank you.”
“I also want to mention the young man Jah Prayzah who became a victim of the G40 just an ordinary musician expressing his views in song; I salute him,” said Mutsvangwa referring to an incident in which Jah Prayzah was pelted with stones and chased away from a graveyard at the funeral of his former bodyguard, Chris Nyemba.
On elections Mutsvangwa said, “Cde President we are pledging to you our support for the 2018 elections that election, you shall win on a magnitude bigger than the one which we did in 1980; we are going to work hard with our chiefs, we are going to work hard with our illustrious ZDF, the best army in the world.”
He went further to praise General Constantino Chiwenga saying: “We want to salute our General Chiwenga who leads the most professional army in the world; we will work hard. They will remain in the barracks but we shall work hard to make sure that we win the election. We will run that election in a free and democratic manner which will impress the whole world, so that your victory will make Zimbabweans stand high among the nations of the world as a democratic country. We are the first ever liberation movement which decided to go into election in 1980; Others just walked into power by guns. We will keep that democratic tradition. It is a Zimbabwean tradition.”
Mutsvangwa also saluted youths in Bulawayo who were victim of what he called former President Robert Mugabe’s tantrums.

Mutsvangwa is the worst person to advise the President. He’s empty headed, mad, stupid and childish. Zanana. ED must remove him if he wants to maintain the little dignity that he has. Can someone tell me which oppostion is trending now…APA ,ALLIANCE, ZIM PF , ya Nagarivhunwe , yaMangoma ,ya Nkosana….Am confused & yes ZANU Pf will win . They are campaigning and you win elections by campaigning.MDC is as sick as its owner.
There will be no need to use the army is 2018. Their job is already done. The removal of Mugabe brought jubilation to all Zimbabweans except G40. Every level headed person would admit that it was in essence a ZanuPf issue. Didn’t the army Chiefs swear long before. never to salute anyone without liberational history? So would anyone believe that the masses were celebrating, that MT was now going to become president?
To cut the Story short, the Job is already done. ZPF will win the 2018 free and fair elections resoungly, unless something very extraordinary happens. Of Course one might argue that the ground is not level with regard to the support ZPF gathered through the removal of Mugabe by the army, from which the Opposition could not benefit, but that would be water under the bridge. It can not be reversed.
Surprisingly the Opposition is hardly talking to the people it should be talking to, to win elections. They rather go to their handlers to get instructions instead of testing how deep the new waters are and engage the electorate. Not that surprising though, if one believes. as I do, that they already know they won’t win the 2018 elections, considering, as they confess. that ZPF has now adopted their own policy.
When Munangagwa used the military against Mugabe the nation and Tsvangirai supported him. Tsvangirai should accept the military to be used against him come 2018 general elections. Our constitution allows the intervention of the military where the leadership deviates from the grandnorm and tenets of the liberation struggle.
