Rumour Swells That Gunfire And Inferno At Chihuri’s House, Despite Silence

By Dorrothy Moyo| A wild rumour continued to swell early Wednesday morning that there has been gunfire near Police Commissioner Augustine Chihuri’s house, against an atmosphere of silence by the country’s police spokesperons.

The report also claimed there is a fire at his Greystone Park house.

But Chihuri was today listed on the schedule of delegates at the official ceremony for the renaming of KGVI Barracks.

The phones of Police Spokesman Commissioner Charity Charamba and her colleague Paul Nyathi were both not reachable. Further attempts to get details from other officers were neither fruitful. ZimEye.com will continue to investigate while we check with Commissioner Chihuri himself – ZimEye

On MDC-T and Operation Restore Mnangagwa Legacy

PART1  –

By Daphne Magidi| I remember when General Chiwenga addressed the nation and that evening I made a post arguing that a lot of people did not understand the Generals’ Speech. Surely they didn’t, even up to today they still haven’t and unfortunately the majority of those people are in opposition not forgetting some within Zanu-Pf.

The only people who could have grasped the agenda of the speech were people such as myself who are not aligned to party politics. I remember debating and advising my friends from the opposition MDC as they kept telling me I was wrong I was the one who did not understand the speech. There were three things I plucked out instantly now – that a coup was imminent. The reasons would be the following  –

  1. To Restore the legacy of Zanu pf by protecting the revolution
  2. Assertion that Zimbabwe was not going into the hands of non-Revolutionaries
    3. Only Zanu-Pf will lead Zimbabwe

My opposition friends did not condemn any of these statements publicly if I missed this please enlighten me. They simply rejoiced and I could see them on Facebook singing the song “ Dzamutsana mutsana, Tsuro nembwa.”

N’anga neinobata Amai,”

With eyes 👀 as open as mine I told them not to rejoice at ‘N’anga neinobata Amai,” as I knew this would affect them too – if Mugabe is removed by the Generals then what’s left for the MDC to do after that? Wasn’t this their job all along?

But they lashed at me saying I’m an enemy of progress and a Mugabe sympathiser. Like a prophet however I could see the non existent future of the MDC in Zimbabwean politics. As this “Coup that wasn’t a coup“ /Revolution was Operation Restore Zanu PF Legacy.  To be further precise, it was Operation Restore Mnangagwa.

Sometimes it’s good to visit history before history revisits you. We went down memory lane to revisit history of Zimbabwe, analyse Zanu pf history and why Mugabe stayed in power that long , who was his power source? I reminded my friends from the MDC of our efforts over the last 20 years to remove Mugabe and who stood between us and him. I remember as a very young girl running across the city centre from the South African embassy when it was along Enterprise road in Eastleigh to my late sister’s house in Highfields at Willowvale flats on foot because Morgan Tsvangirai had led the biggest strike in Zimbabwe’s history and the soldiers were out on the streets with tankers together with the police. That was in 1997.

I flashed back to 2008 (11 years later) when Tsvangirai won and the election violence that followed and the massive rigging, death, rape and torture of a lot of opposition supporters not forgetting Gukurahundi in the 80s.

I asked MDC who was behind this violence? I asked them to read Mnangagwa’s letter when he fled to SA, to go back and replay or re-read the Generals’ press conference held a week later. The general Constantino Chiwenga was straight forward in his speech and I noticed lots of Zimbabweans misunderstood it. I even made a post highlighting that. I told opposition to analyse the coup why there is one and for who? Who is behind it? Next after a failed coup attempt, the generals suddenly start negotiating with President Mugabe. You don’t negotiate in that context but of course they did. Who negotiates a take-over?

But opposition was waiting in the docks for Zanu pf to remove Zanu pf at their convenience, right they fail Bob lectures the generals the constitution reminds them the power is with the people – That’s when our oppressors remembered it was our revolution which we started years back and they stopped us then in less than 24 hours they have us on the streets and suddenly Mugabe goes.

Why attack a useless 94 year old and not his immortal system?

Barely a few hours later Chinamasa reminds the opposition that the events taking place are Zanu pf eternal politics as the opposition assumed it was a national solidarity march they thought they had lots of power to be involved transitionally. But they should have Hijacked that revolution when I advised them to do so (Zanu pf had placards advertising ED as the new president and they wanted their VP back ) MDC should have marched with all their campaign points but No they just wanted to see Mugabe go.  Why attack a useless 94 year old and not his system which is bound to live forever? With ignorance as per usual of the real events, they simply marched .

Mugabe was not only issue that is where MDC lost it – as opposition they seemed to tell the world they only had a problem with Mugabe not Zanu pf or anyone else in his party. Also they seem to have been lost in translation with the Mugabe must go slogan – He is gone they have nothing else to say, no policies to counter Zanu pf and with ED doing well with international relations and domestic policies there is no vacancy for MDC in Zimbabwe and outside. They are left looking like the old Zanu pf with the same leader for 18 years who is very ill and 3 Vice Presidents. MDC is now everything Zanu pf is running from. So now he is gone they seem to look buried like lost sheep. The people removed Mugabe. Now Zanu pf is making it look like they removed Bob- people see them as heroes now and there is no transitional government, something MT hoped for no wonder why he was passive throughout events so not to disappoint his future employers.

Now that you are all conscious – Welcome to Operation Restore Zanu pf Legacy, Welcome to Operation Restore Mnangagwa Legacy. Welcome to Mnangagwe, ooops, Zimbabwe!

I wish all opposition politics a speedy recovery. Good day

No Joy for Chombo

By Farai D Hove| Former Finance Minister Ignatius Chombo has had no joy today as his appeal for bail was lifted once again.

Chombo together with former Zanu-PF Youth League leader Kudzanayi Chipanga are appealing for bail in their case on charges ranging from corruption to publishing or communicating false statements prejudicial to the state as defined in Section 31 (a) (iii) of the Criminal (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9.23 or alternatively causing disaffection among the police force or defence forces.

It was a sombre scene as Chombo had his appeal lifted once again. The hearing was postponed until tomorrow as the State request more time to file its response. State prosecutor Mr Edmore Nyazamba sought postponement arguing they received a transcript of the record of proceedings from the magistrates’ court late.

The former ZANU PF Youth leader, Chipanga, is charged with publishing or communicating false statements prejudicial to the state as defined in Section 31 (a) (iii) of the Criminal (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9.23 or alternatively causing disaffection among the police force or defence forces.

PICTURES: Another Accident: 8 Killed

State Media – Eight Nyanga farmers perished in a road accident on their way from collecting agricultural inputs last Friday. The accident happened barely 100 metres from the collection point at Kute Business Centre.

A 28-months-old baby, Rosemary Ropafadzo died on the spot, the driver, Samuel Aaron Mandikuwadza, who died on admission at Nyanga District Hospital. Six others, whose conditions were critical died at Mutare Provincial Hospital. They were all from Ward 14, under Chief Saunyama’s area.

They were aboard a Toyo-Ace truck, belonging to the late Mandikuwadza. The farmers had collected seed maize and fertiliser under the Presidential Inputs Scheme at Kute Business Centre (Dodzo). The accident occurred at the 60km peg along the Nyanga-Ruwangwe Road.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, confirmed the accident. He revealed the names of five deceased person from the eight — Rosemary Ropafadzo (28 months), of Nyamukupe Village, Aaron Samuel Mandikuwadza (56), of Hamunakwadi Village, Aquiline Mafuwo (62), of Samvenge Village, Annatoria Maritinya and Joyce Mumhanyi — all under Chief Saunyama’s area.

Insp Kakohwa could not release the names of the three others who died on Monday at Mutare Provincial Hospital as their next of kin had not been notified. The eight succumbed to head, chest and neck injuries. Seven others survived with minor to moderate injuries.

“The truck was travelling towards Ruwangwe and was involved in an accident at the 60km peg when Mandikuwadza lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road to the left, overturned once and landed on its left side.

“A 28-months-old baby Rosemary died on the spot, and Mandikuwadza died on admission at Nyanga District Hospital. The other victims were later transferred to Mutare Provincial Hospital for further treatment and later died,” Insp Kakohwa.

Nyanga Rural District Council chairperson, Councillor Moses Gutu, said the tragedy had plunged the district into mourning. Cllr Gutu said most of the victims were breadwinners.

“All the deceased were from Ward 14 and you can imagine the extent of the pain. These people were farmers who met their fate while trying to fend for their families. Their families have lost breadwinners, and it is unfortunate,” said Cllr Gutu.

“We buried the first five in their respective villages on Sunday, and sadly on Monday we received sad news from Cllr Mutsiwawo (Ward 14) that three other victims had died at Mutare Provincial Hospital. This exacerbated our pain.

“We do not know if the accident was caused by a defect on the vehicle or was just a design by God. I visited the scene and the accident happened on a straight and clear stretch that is less than 100m from the collection point (Kute Business Centre). You would not expect such an impact just after take-off,” said Cllr Gutu.

He thanked Nyanga South legislator, Cde Supa Mandiwanzira, for assisting the bereaved families. – state media

Ret Army Colonel ‘Chases Away’ Grace Mugabe Aide

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| A Mnangagwa favourite who is also the ruling party Zanu PF’s prodical son Retired Colonel Claudius Makova has set his focus on the Bikita West Parliamentary Seat, party sources have revealed.

Col Makova alongside former Masvingo State Minister, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, officially announced their return to Zanu PF at a party meeting here on Sunday.

Ruling party sources told ZimEye Makova was widely tipped to wrestle the Bikita West Parliamentary Seat from current MP, Beauty Chabaya, a Grace Mugabe apologist.

“Makova has positioned himself to grab the Bikita West Parliamentary Seat.

This will then make him eligible for selection into the Cabinet,” said a Zanu PF Official.

They added saying:”Mnangagwa adores Makova because of his military background. This means Chabaya will be elbowed out to pave way for Makova.”

Makova has in past elections unleashed a reign of terror against perceived opposition supporters.

Both Chabaya and Makova were not immediately available to comment on the matter.

Prophet Inserts Manhood Into Minor’s Private Parts To Exorcise Demons

Terrence Mawawa, Buhera| A self styled prophet who inserted his manhood into a minor’s private parts under the guise of exorcising demons, was last week dragged to court for the offence.

Victor Chiminya(33), appeared before Magistrate Livingstone Chipadza facing rape charges.

He allegedly raped the minor on two different occasions.

Chiminya is a self confessed prophet at Sangano RaJehova Apostolic Church.

The 15- year- old girl was doing Form Two at Ndongwe Secondary School at the time she was raped.

According to facts of the State Case, Chiminya went to the place where the minor stayed with her guardians and claimed she was being tormented by demons.

He further said the demons would be exorcised through sexual intercourse. He then raped her. The incident happened on March 12, 2017.

On May 14, 2017, Chiminya raped the minor at Chimanye Homestead where he was conducting healing sessions.

Chiminya however accused his detractors of framing him.

Trial will continue next week.

Lumumba: I Am Now ZANU PF

By Acie Lumumba| Effective December 1, 2017 I, Acie Lumumba W.G. Mutumanje, returned to ZANU PF as an active member.

The reasons for my resignation on May 19, 2016, no longer apply: the party has forcefully and credibly begun the process of reforming itself, and the ruling party is now in the unique position to drive positive change in Zimbabwe, as enunciated by its new leader.
As before, I will remain focused on youth empowerment, and will continue to promote political participation of the young people in the political and reform processes.
There is no greater task before our generation than waging a war against self induced poverty. True empowerment is in removing barriers of entry for all Zimbabwean people as they pursue their various versions of prosperity.

The events of the recent weeks have united the country in a common purpose. We have a chance to overcome our differences and focus on critical reforms that deliver prosperity to our nation. In my lifetime I have never experienced a moment when the world gave us so much good will to hold our hand as we pick ourselves up to join the global community. I am motivated by window of opportunity to set our country on a pathway to recovery, I wish to be a part of that process. I recognize with great honor the comradery extended to me by opposition movements in our quest for a ZIMBABWE fir for all who live in it. I have a new and deep found r espect for the work they all do. I will continue to fight for that sacred idea.

ARMY LATEST – Chihuri Accused Of Destroying Evidence

Own Correspondent| As the army carries out a cleaning up operation across the country, the Commissioner General Of Police, Augustine Chihuri has been accused of attempting to destroy evidence of bribery and corrupt practices through a ticketing syndicate.

In the years running up to the November coup, police officers under him were being ordered into a practice of traffic fining for the mere purpose of fund-raising.

For this reason Chihuri was booed at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration last month.

Chihuri has since been accused by officers of ordering “Highway Patrol to take all the Books to Chikurubi where they are going to be destroyed. All books were transported this noon by National Traffic Bus and 2 Scania Lorries.

“Any incident that will lead to those books to be destroyed is mostly likely to happen. Prior to this there is a radio signal that instructed all traffic stations to destroy the books under their possession that were given filing instruction.

Let these criminals come to book,” a police source wrote.

Efforts to get a comment from either Chihuri or the spokesperson Charity Charamba were fruitless at the time of writing.

Govt: We Didn’t Shut Down the Internet

By Farai D Hove| ICT and Cyber Security Minister Supa Mandiwanzira has denied rumours that his Government shut down the internet during the day Tuesday.

He said instead, the government was deeply concerned that internet went down for most of yesterday. Mandiwanzira told the state media: “We are upset that internet connectivity is not available or has not been available for most of the day. Government is concerned about the situation.

“We expect that the operators must have redundancy so that if one aspect or connection is down, they can activate a different connection. It’s a requirement of their licensing that they must always have redundancy. How that redundancy has not kicked in for the nation to notice that there is no internet, we can not understand why.”

He promised that government will so facilitate more investors in the industry. He said the regulator would carry out an investigation and Government would respond accordingly.

“At this point, as Government, we want to facilitate business; we are pushing to make business successful and it is the direction of the new President, His Excellency Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, that this country produces,” he said.

“We must be productive, we must focus on work and on growth. We cannot achieve that as fast as we want if we do not have a key element of production, which is the internet, and therefore we are going to re-look at our service providers to make sure that they have all their systems in place to provide redundancy.”

Mandiwanzira said the incident made Government realise that there was room for investment in the sector to make sure the situation did not recur.

DISTURBING VIDEO: Harare Protestors Beat Up Man Over Military Police Attack On Vendors Today

By Shiellah Sibanda| One of the men behind the BusStop TV says he today filmed a group of protesters who were searching for military police officers and during the process they assaulted a man they suspected to be connected to the military.

Writes Luckie Aaroni, “I shot this video at a demo in town today.

“The protestors were walking around town in search of the military police, municipal police and Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) who are running a joint operation to remove or relocate vendors from the central business district.

“The guy being assaulted asked the protestors if they were genuine vendors or were just looking for trouble with the authorities. That question invited trouble for him.”

Mnangagwa Aide Predicts Landslide Victory For Zanu PF

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| A senior Zanu PF Official has predicted a landslide victory for the ruling party in next year’s elections.

Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Chairperson Ezra Ruvai Chadzamira said the ruling party was ready to romp to victory in the 2018 harmonised elections.

Chadzamira is one of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ s advisors.

Addressing party members at a Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting in Masvingo on Sunday, Chadzamira said opposition parties were in total disarray and the revolutionary party was poised for victory.

“Now that the G-40 cabal is gone, let us unite and focus on the 2018 polls.

Opposition parties are in disarray so we will win the coming elections resoundingly because we have managed to rejuvenate the party,” said Chadzamira.

He added: The opposition parties are clueless and confused. Zanu PF will continue to rule forever. “

What Is Webster Shamu Hiding From Mnangagwa? – THE DETAILS

fingered…Webster Shamu

Mnangagwa Was Poisoned By Webster Shamu | ANALYSIS

“There is something Shamu is trying to hide”

Staff Reporter| President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “health as a leader” is at risk after he was poisoned by minister Webster Shamu using gifts. The “poisoned” objects were the 15 beasts he received from the man who used to call Mnangagwa’s arch enemy Robert Mugabe, “cremora,” last week.

News readers reacted far and wide saying that the President’s judgement is now at risk and will be further impaired if he receives anymore such because – One of the main tenets of the principles of corporate governance is that public office holders must not accept gifts given them as a result of and or during the course of their work.

“This should not be allowed. Why didn’t Shamu give the gifts before Mnangagwa was President?,” wrote Stratze Mulauze‏ following the ZimEye poll.

“The gifts are not genuine; That’s how Mugabe became corrupt instead of helping the poor they end up taking from the poor to further enrich themselves,so I don’t recommend gifts to the president, even a king must not get gifts,” quipped in Watson Watungwa.

“He (Mnangagwa) won’t perform cause of the gifts, that’s how corruption starts,” added Henry Govo.

MNANGAGWA, CHIWENGA IN: Aluta- Continua, The Struggle Continues

By Mazviwanza Shiri | The new president has sworn in his ‘NEW’ cabinet so that they can get down to some serious business. After listening to the comments made by some of the ministers, I still do not have confidence in their ability to turn around the fortunes of our beleaguered nation.

The first to comment was none other than the minister of transport, Cde. Jorum Gumbo. The gentleman is clearly at sixes and sevens on how to execute his duties. The first thing he talks about is the issue of international assistance that will be required to improve our road network and resuscitate the National Railways of Zimbabwe. It is this dependency syndrome that is seriously wrong with our mindset.

In other words, he is saying if we do not get donor support, the roads will continue in their current sorry state. That the government has no means of financing their own programs unless the international community chips in with the required assistance. It is like a father telling his big family sleeping in one room that he will ask the neighbors to assist in putting up another room for his family to ease congestion.

What a laughable view. Infrastructure development is personal business where the nation must make harsh decisions on their priorities because it promotes competitiveness on the regional front in terms of tourism and other economic activities. We must come up with a solid plan on how we will finance our projects and set short, medium and long term objectives and targets with special considerations to our income. If we get external support, the better as it will help cut down on the time span.

It is shocking, therefore, for this minister who is sitting on a considerable source of income from tollgates and special levies as exerted on our fuel imports to maintain our dilapidated roads. This is a fortune if well-managed as the landing price of fuel is about forty cents or so per litre. The rest are levies exerted by the government for its various programs. Even the irony in the hoax that he had died in a road accident over the weekend has escaped our esteemed minister as he was joking about it as if that was comic.

No doubt, he assumed that sentiment without looking at the serious implication of the whole saga. As minister of Transport responsible for our highways, any accident is cause for concern as it means loss of life, a loved one, breadwinner or potential tax payer. Our roads have become dangerous jungles that are a menace to all users, reckless or cautious. Our greatest problem is the mindset of our leaders who believe money must come from the west or east to embark on major road rehabilitation projects while they recklessly spend what they have in their coffers on inconsequential exercises such as renaming the airport after a dysfunctional dictator.

More than half a million was spent in that brief ceremony yet we have a road such as the Bindura- Shamva one, that was begun in about 1990 and is still incomplete. This is a mere twenty-eight kilometer stretch that has taken twenty seven years to complete. Can you imagine that the major contractors in this project include Chihuri’s companies, Goche and a few other big wigs. These leaders lack seriousness. I won’t talk of the other numerous roads that have largely been ignored as ministers triple over each other in paying homage to leaders who believe they are on the same pedestal with God. So CDE. Gumbo, wise up, roll up your sleeves and get down to serious business.

The police is yet another challenge we must contend with. Chihuri has largely been left to his own designs and has turned a once professional outfit into a den of crooks and extortionists, mafia style. It is not surprising because the guy has a checkered history himself. He has stayed on the job largely because Uncle Bob found him a lethal weapon against the opposition, otherwise he is completely useless and has the morals of an alley cat. Instead of monitoring our roads, the police have gone on a fund raising exercise where they demand bribes from unlicensed kombi drivers and mahwindi to look the other way as these make our roads and streets racing courses with impunity. Faulty cars are allowed to proceed after the guilty drivers pay their dirty dues to the police. Despite our modest volume of traffic, the accident rate is higher than that in countries where the traffic population is unbelievably high. In such nations, the police are professional, committed and effective in taming the formidable traffic jungle. The driver who killed malarial workers in Tsholotsho was reportedly drunk but I will bet my last bond coin he passed through a number of police manned roadblocks. Useless. Yes, let’s get rid of the useless police leadership and retrain the younger police officers on basic qualities of professional policing.
There is no need for us to look east or west for resources. We have to cultivate the culture of saving, planning, budgeting and setting goals for ourselves. This was non- existent in the Mugabe era. It was all spend, spend, waste, waste. That culture of profligacy and corruption has been our greatest downfall. Natural resources such as gold and other precious metals are smuggled out of the country to benefit the perpetrators at the expense of the nation at large. We are not helplessly poor but have failed in the art of being accountable to ourselves and the nation that looks up to us. The leadership, present and past, are so engrossed in their personal aggrandizement than serving the nation as they have sworn to do. Service takes a seat at the back of beyond. And look at how they ostentatiously display their ill begotten wealth like some well deserved crown to the poor, struggling masses.

Zimbabwe is not poor, far from it. We are victims of systematic deprivation instituted by Mugabe and his band which has come back again to haunt us. We will never go anywhere with the Jorum Gumbo (JG) mindset of waiting for foreign assistance. It is “Aluta Continua” for Zimbabwe as long as we have such position holders with the JG syndrome. We deserve better, comrades, and we must demand accountability from these thieving apologists and tell them the simple English adage, “Waste not, want not.”

Tsvangirai Wins Back Top Aide

MDC-T legislator Eddie Cross who almost got into trouble with his party after stating that party leader Morgan Tsvangirai will not be able to contest next year’s elections because of his failing health now says the MDC-T leader is the best candidate to beat Emmerson Mnangagwa in next year’s elections.

Cross says the honeymoon is over for Mnangagwa because he made a tactical error in appointing a cabinet which is “just a collection of the old, corrupt and incompetent people who created the present economic shambles in the first place”.

By doing so, Cross says, Mnangagwa has thrown the opposition a lifeline.

“For me, the even bigger question is, can we get our act together and pick up this rope and pull ourselves into our real future?

“We need to sort out our leadership, only Morgan Tsvangirai has the national support required to defeat Zanu-PF, he needs support and help to do so, and he needs it NOW.

“People have got to get off the fences they are sitting on and help us finish what we started in the past fortnight.”- The Zimbabwean

Driver Cheats Death As Haulage Truck Catches Fire

A Zambian haulage truck driver whose vehicle was burnt to a shell on Saturday night has said he narrowly cheated death as the truck caught fire soon after he retired to bed in it.

Mr Siachamba Kantini (25), who is employed by Shaan Carriers, a Zambian company, is one of the scores of truck drivers who had parked along the Victoria Falls-Bulawayo road near Victoria Falls Truck Stop waiting for clearance to cross the border.

The truck was loaded with coal and only the horse was burnt.

Mr Kantini refuted claims making rounds on social media that the truck horse caught fire due to a gas stove he was using to cook his supper.

“I went to Hwange during the day to collect some documents which they wanted at the border. It’s not true that I was cooking when the fire broke out. Instead I had my supper in Hwange and when I came back I went into the horse to sleep. Suddenly I smelt smoke and as I was trying to figure out what was happening the whole horse was on fire,” he said.

Mr Kantini, who lost all his belongings including travel documents and paperwork for the truck and clearance for the load he was carrying, said he suspects that the truck had an electrical fault.

The fire brigade attended to the scene although they could not give details about findings from the scene.

Officer Commanding Victoria Falls District, Chief Superintendent Jairos Chiwona said: “I can confirm there is a truck that caught fire on Saturday. We are not sure what caused it. No foul play is suspected for now and we stand guided by the fire experts on what could have caused the accident.”

Other drivers who spoke to a Chronicle news crew at the scene on Sunday morning expressed concern about delays by border officials to clear them.

“Such incidents are bound to happen especially when we camp for a week. As it is we’ve been here for the past three days waiting for clearance but nothing seems to be happening. We end up spending all our pocket money,” said one driver on condition of anonymity.

Zimbabwe and Zambia governments launched a joint Kaza Uni visa where travellers and truckers have to be cleared at one point to reduce time spent at the border.

However, there have been concerns that border authorities on the Zimbabwean side are generally slow in clearing travellers and as such travellers are not enjoying the benefits of the Uni visa.- state media

“I Hired Grace Mugabe Booing Thugs”, Tshinga Dube Blasts Out Confession

Former War Veterans minister Tshinga Dube has sensationally claimed that he personally mobilised disgruntled Zanu PF youths and war veterans to boo former First Lady Grace Mugabe during the ill-fated Bulawayo Presidential youth interface rally last month, where ex-President Robert Mugabe lost his temper and publicly announced plans to drop the axe on his then deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In an interview with journalists in Mutare last week while travelling to a funeral, Dube said the move was part of efforts to clip Grace’s wings.

He was on his way to the Gombakomba area in Mutare South constituency, where an unnamed war veteran had passed on.

“I want to tell you this for the first time. I was the one who organised that booing on the First Lady. I organised some war veterans and youths in Bulawayo and agreed that if she starts to insult the party leadership and members, they would then boo her. And it worked,” Dube said.

“I had not seen him (Mugabe) angry like that. He was very angry about that (booing). But I must say this heckling gave an insight of what was to come. She lacked respect for the party elders and her verbal insults were now becoming uncontrollable and we thought that should end. She lacked respect for the party’s core values and we said no to that and, as you can see, now she has fallen down.”

During the rally, a group of ruling party youths led by Magura Charumbira disrupted Grace’s speech, as they continuously heckled her, denouncing her as “too junior” before breaking into a mocking song Into Oyenzayo Siyayizonda (We don’t like what you are doing).

A visibly incensed Mugabe later took to the podium and unleashed venom at Mnangagwa, accusing him of engineering the heckling.

“We are denigrated and insulted in the name of Mnangagwa. Did I make a mistake in appointing him as my deputy? If I made a mistake by appointing Mnangagwa, tell me. I will drop him as early as tomorrow,” he threatened.

Two days later, Mnangagwa was sacked from the party and government, before Mugabe succumbed to military and public pressure and resigned two weeks later, as Parliament also moved in to impeach him.- Newsday

How Mnangagwa Can Win This War | OPINION

by Dr Masimba Mavaza | There’s something heroic about a President who parachutes into a country that’s facing an existential threat. While such turnarounds are never really a one-person show, it’s the head of state’s boldness and resolve that invariably stand out. They get the credit and the cover story.

They are the ones who will either put the country forward or backward. The hands of these leaders bears the marks of the rough pulling of the country in a bid to catapult it to the top.
But just as impressive, if not as celebrated, is the President who upends the status quo when all is (seemingly) well. Such efforts require at least as much leadership, tenacity, and vision. They may not seem as miraculous or necessary as a change-or-die turnaround—until you consider how hard it is to instil a hunger for change in a successful state, and what’s on the line when complacency sets in. President Munangagwa has inherited a country ravaged by sanctions and littered with opposition which is not productive. The opposition which rejoices when people are starved into voting them.

Can you imagine the new president walking into a historically successful country which has been fractured by factionalism and sanctions? This president has inherited an economy which is already in the coffin each person in the system has no good reputation, strong corruption history and almost no appetite for broad change. He is given a recycled team to work with who are excellent in praise singing and blasphemous mouth full of praise which brings a curse to the country and the president himself. Most ministers around him believe seriously that being a good minister is to sing praises and sing them again.
This trend tend to highly self-destruct and counter progress.

These less competent members tend to be highly self-confident. They are convinced they have the winning model and the ability to win. Ingrained patterns of behaviour have been rewarded over and over again and this rewarding system is inherited. Internally, egoistic trends grow, and politics intensify. Self-criticism is often muted. With so much success for so long, what’s the point of being too harsh, anyway? The President must not be measured on his predecessor, he must be measured on his success. Turning around an economy is not an inauguration speech, it is a real hard work.

But the borderline between confidence and complacency is thin. Over and over, historically strong leaders have slipped into periods of decline, sometimes precipitously. In fact, the fame of a leader is so short. So how can the leader of a dying country reset the direction and re-energize the state before a crisis hits? Every situation is different, the president must jump out of his honey moon and hit the ground.

The president must confront reality the most important quality of a leader is to force his leadership to deal with the world as it is, not as they wished it to be. Using the right yardsticks and benchmarks, asking challenging questions, and conducting follow-up reviews on ideas they must step outside of their inherent comfort zones. The leader must establish the fierce urgency of now. It is common that people find all sorts of reasons to avoid uncomfortable change. Pace and energy go together. With competitive landscapes being reshaped faster than ever, the leader needs to set the agenda and the tone. He needs to walk the talk and not talk the walk. Most elected cadres believe that they are hitting the ground but yes we hit the ground going where. The president might have people who on the same ground with him, hitting it with the same force but going different directions.

The President must avoid the false security of “a safe pair of hands, Executives who are solely a safe pair of hands are there to preserve the past, not invent the future. To successfully lead the country forward the president should challenge his ministers to become change drivers. Many will step up in unexpected ways. But over time, tolerating those who simply want to preserve the status quo, even if they do their jobs well, sends debilitating signals to everyone else. Action must be taken against all in a similar manner. The state the country is in does not need golden gloves. The luxurious ministerial system we have inherited must be abandoned and the piece of cake must be shared.
We need to tackle organizational sclerosis. Many presidents face two related challenges. First, they are slowed down with protocol, with too many layers and too narrow spans of control. So leaders get distant from the work, decisions take longer, and strong performers feel over managed and under empowered. Second, collaboration often deteriorates as individual success begins to outweigh team success, particularly in activities that cross boundaries within the business. Designing organizations to be lean and creating an environment that fosters the right behaviours and interactions can provide a burst of energy and effectiveness. To make these changes stick, the president will need to win the hearts and minds of a range of stakeholders, service users, service providers, , customers, investors, and, increasingly, regulators and donors so they appreciate why it’s worth challenging the status quo.

This isn’t just about staving off decline. It’s about creating a healthy sense of restlessness, motivating people to experiment and act differently, and getting the country, as a whole, to move at a much faster speed—to be more adaptive and agile.
It takes a special kind of leader to deviate from a tried and true road—and bring a confident, successful country along on the journey.

The disadvantage Munangagwa has is that he only has eight month to prove a point. This is a mountain to climb and a really high mountain.
We have an opposition which says they have been left out of the gravy train. Can a father take his family to fight for a piece of meat on winning it he then wants to own it at the expense of the children? Those who took part in the change can continue doing so to assist us to succeed in the long run. But for ED the run is not long, it is only eight months a miracle turn around needs to be done now and not tomorrow. Those crying for positions must think of the country first, those willing to sing praises must join a church. Zimbabwe needs you, do not wait and see what Munangagwa would do but jump in and join in and see what you will do. It is not what the country should do for us, but what we must do for our country.

SEX SCANDAL: Grace Mugabe Sidekick Chimene Grabs Man Years Younger, Ruins His Marriage

Former Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Mandiitawepi Chimene stands accused of causing the collapse of a Harare couple’s marriage.

The former minister is reported to have wrecked the 14-year-old marriage between Claudius Mukandiwa, who is 37 years her junior, and Joseline Mukandiwa, 33.

The Mukandiwas, who tied the knot in 2010, have five children together with the youngest being twins, now two years old.

Revelations are that Mukandiwa had not been going home saying he would be on duty with the minister.

H-Metro is in possession of a text message which Chimene sent to Joseline requesting to have custody of the children.

“As for (the child), u had said haudi naye. If u have changed ur mind, also send him am already arranging his place as an alternative to ur earlier decision when we discussed the matter last year,” reads the message by Chimene to Joseline.

When she spoke to H-Metro, Joseline said she was bitter that Chimene who was supposed to be a motherly figure and ‘building’ existing marriages had destroyed hers.

“Minister Chimene is heartless. How can she use her influence to destroy my marriage?

“Is it that I am poor and have nowhere to tell my story?

“Who will marry me with my five children?

She said Mukandiwa had indicated that he was divorcing her but the matter was still to be heard in the courts of law.

Mukandiwa’s phone was answered by a woman.

“Mukandiwa haapo. Ohh that story (hubby snatching) ummm you phoned panumber dzabamkuru vacho,” said the woman who answered before hanging.

Efforts to engage the person were futile as the phone went unanswered before being switched off.

Mugabe Falls As Former Zanu PF Stalwarts Eye A Return

The fall of Zimbabwe’s long-serving president, Robert Mugabe, appears to have given hope to sacked former Zanu PF stalwarts who are now retracing their footsteps back to the former liberation movement.

There is renewed hope among the former Zanu PF senior officials since the appointment of  Emmerson Mnangagwa as first secretary.

Barely a week after former Masvingo provincial affairs minister Kudakwashe Bhasikiti signalled his intention to rejoin Zanu PF, another ex –official, Claudius Makova, has written a letter seeking re-admission into the party.

And this is at the expense of the troubled Zimbabwe People First which was formed after Mugabe hounded several officials from Zanu PF on untested allegations of wanting to topple him in the run-up to the party’s December 2014 congress.

In a letter addressed to Zanu PF’s deputy secretary for administration July Moyo, Makova said now that Mugabe is out of the picture he feels at ease to rejoin the ruling party that is now led by Mnangagwa.

“The removal of the G40 cabal and the removal of one centre of power from Zanu PF give me enough confidence to revert to my party and continue to fight for the total emancipation of our people in our people-driven party Zanu PF.

“My motivation is to remain a servant of the people in a party that I have served for the greater part of my life,” said Makova.

The outspoken politician along with Bhasikiti attended a Zanu PF Masvingo provincial coordinating committee (PCC) meeting over the weekend.

The two politicians have stood together in the last three years jumping from one political party to another, but never really fitting in.

Zanu PF Masvingo province spokesperson Ronald Ndava confirmed that Makova and Bhasikiti attended a PCC meeting.

“We were with them. As an executive we are going to sit down and discuss the way forward, but we are a big family. A committee will sit down and decide what we can do. It will be a collective decision,” Ndava told the Daily News.

One of the founding elders of the ZPF and former Cabinet minister in Mugabe’s government — Didymus Mutasa who was also sacked from Zanu PF in the run up to December 2014 congress — said it was time that both Makova and Bhasikiti found  a permanent home.

“Now that there is freedom in Zimbabwe let them do as they please, but let them not jump from one party to another. They jumped from (the then ZPF led by Joice) Mujuru and then came to us and they jumped from us to join the (Zimbabwe People First led by Agrippa) Mutambara, now they are going back to Zanu PF. It’s very funny,” said Mutasa.

Makova and Bhasikiti’s days in the political wilderness were largely because they had fallen out of favour with Mugabe, whose long political career came to an end on November 21 when he resigned ahead of an impeachment by Parliament.

Along with Bhasikiti, Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo, Makova parted ways with Mujuru early this year and retained the name of the party that they formed after a bitter expulsion from Zanu PF.

It was not long before ZPF split again in the middle and Makova and Bhasikiti dumped Mutasa and Gumbo to follow retired brigadier general Mutambara, who kept the name ZPF.

History repeated itself again as the two politicians crossed swords with Mutambara over a leadership raw.

“I have already resigned from ZPF where I was now serving as the secretary-general of the party. I find no reason to be serving in any other party when Zanu PF has reverted to its original ideals by the “operation restore legacy,” said Bhasikiti as he seeks to rejoin longtime comrades at Zanu PF.

Just like Bhasikiti, Makova in his letter to Mutasa and Gumbo said the two co-leaders of ZPF should seriously consider closing shop and returning home to Zanu PF.

“It was my great expectation that we should have collectively closed shop or disbanded our party ZPF and go back to Zanu PF where we originally all belong,” said Makova.- Daily News

ARMY LATEST: Generals Promise More Fireworks

HARARE – The two former army chiefs who landed Cabinet appointments last week have promised fireworks in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s new government.

In what came as surprise appointments for many, Air Marshal Perrance Shiri of the Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) and Zimbabwe National Army Major General Sibusiso Moyo were part of the 22-member Cabinet unveiled on Thursday by Mnangagwa.

Shiri is the new minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement while Moyo was appointed minister of Foreign Affairs.

Both generals played an instrumental role in the deposal of Mugabe in an operation launched by the military last month.

In separate interviews after taking oath of office at State House yesterday, the former military top dogs said they would take radical departures in their respective portfolios from that of the previous administration overseen by ex-president, Robert Mugabe.

Shiri said he would introduce a fresh land audit to weed out incompetent farmers as a precursor to bringing stability in the agriculture sector.

He would also ensure farmers have security to their land to make the resource bankable.

“It is not going to be business as usual. I know there are some land disputes and we want to make sure that we end disputes on land,” said Shiri.

“We also have the land tenure issue. It has to be resolved and clearly defined. We are also going to have another land audit to establish who is on which land. All land has to be fully utilised,” he said.

Shiri also vowed to press on with the Command Agriculture programme, which he oversaw as chairperson of the implementation taskforce during his tenure as the AFZ boss.

“The programme will actually be increased. We realise that we contribute immensely towards the country’s GDP, wealth creation and foreign currency earnings. We will just have to live up to the expectation of the nation in that respect.

“There is a slight difference in that last year, I was leading the technical implementation team, but now I am the minister responsible for Command Agriculture and all other aspects to do with agriculture,” he said.

GDP is an acronym for Gross Domestic Product, which refers to the total value of goods produced and services provided in a country during one year.

Shiri’s views resonate with those of Mnangagwa who, during his swearing-in ceremony about two weeks ago, promised to reform the agriculture sector.

While Shiri was more open and spoke freely, Moyo appeared a little averse and gave a terse response when asked what would be his main objectives as Foreign Affairs minister.

Also appearing to read from the same script as Mnangagwa, who has promised to open Zimbabwe for business and re-engage with the Western countries from which Zimbabwe has been alienated for close to 20 years, Moyo simply said: “My thrust will be economic diplomacy and transitional diplomacy.”

When asked to clarify what he meant, he said: “It’s a win-win situation,” and refused to entertain further questions.

Meanwhile Shiri, who was Moyo’s senior in military rankings, said there was nothing wrong with former military chiefs participating in politics.

“Who said military people should never be politicians? When I was in the military, I was under the ministry of Defence which is part of government. I am a Zimbabwean, I have got every right to participate in the country’s politics,” he charged.

Mnangagwa has been under fire from critics, who questioned the inclusion of army generals in his Cabinet.

The fiercest criticism came from exiled former Higher and Tertiary Education minister Jonathan Moyo — an unapologetic Mnangagwa faultfinder — who claimed recently that Mnangagwa was a puppet president of the army.

In one of his tweets, Moyo said while Mnangagwa was Zimbabwe’s de jure (rightful) president, commander of the defence forces, Constantino Chiwenga was the de facto (not necessarily by legal right) president.

Chiwenga is the commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.

A total of 22 newly-appointed Cabinet ministers took their oath of office before Mnangagwa, followed by 10 provincial affairs ministers, most of whom were retained from the Mugabe era.

A total of 11 deputy ministers were also sworn in.

Reinstated Prosecutor-General Ray Goba also took oath of office.

Goba was initially fired by Mugabe before he could be sworn in but was brought back by Mnangagwa last week after the High Court had given him reprieve.- Daily News

Humiliated By Mnangagwa Dokora Speaks

Former Primary and Education minister Lazarus Dokora has said he gave it his best despite public distrust while his predecessor Paul Mavima believes Dokora was “hugely misunderstood.”

Dokora along with Christopher Mutsvangwa and Clever Nyathi had made it into Cabinet last week only for their appointments to be rescinded two days later.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa quickly moved to drop them from his Cabinet upon realising that he had overlooked the number of non-constituency legislators he could appoint to be ministers.

Had Dokora not been chopped, it would have been a continuation of his tenure which begun in 2013.

“It was about the number of non-constituency members,” said Dokora, before defending his position on the new curriculum insisting “there were cabinet decisions” which he was only a figure head in their implementation.

Dokora had previously told the Daily News that “the name calling, the attention drawing by persons or even the agenda setting by media,” had not left him dismayed.

“In itself it has actually assisted the education sector in making sure that everybody pays attention to the processes that are underway in the ministry,” he said.

“At the beginning I kept saying ‘no I am not changing (anything), we need to tweak, we are good at knowledge form but we need skills and value…so ultimately everyone appreciates that you can’t continue to produce kids who are dysfunctional in their own economy. It doesn’t make logical or rational sense.”

Dokora is fully aware that many of his pronouncements have set him on a collision course with stakeholders in the education sector but his successor would like to see him being remembered in good light.

“He was a hard worker, that work ethic is what I learnt from him. A lot of people misunderstood him. He was a visionary. He knew where he wanted to take the new curriculum,” Mavima told the Daily News yesterday.

The introduction of the national pledge which critics said was an attempt to indoctrinate children set Dokora on a collision course with many.

His pronouncements on condoms and scripture union did little to instil trust in the masses who failed to understand his methods.

And when he scraped off monetary incentives for teachers and banned extra lessons, his subordinates were quick to call him Dofora  (daft one) which did not appear to extinguish the passion with which he went about his business.

However, Mavima said yesterday that there is no going back on the new curriculum and the national pledge.

Mavima said his ministry would soon carry out an assessment of the new curriculum with a view to improve the strategy of its implementation.

“We are going to do a process evaluation, see where we are going wrong and alter where it’s needed change course. We are not going to go back and say we don’t want to do Stem, we can’t go back and say we don’t want to promote entrepreneurship, promote critical thinking, patriotism.

“We can’t go back and say we don’t want to promote nationalism and national identity among our learners. We want learners who come out proud to be Zimbabwean. So all these issues are not a matter of discussion. What is matter of discussion is that is this syllabus offering exactly what we want? And these are matters we are going to evaluate before the end of the year.”- Daily News

AIRZIM SAGA: Mugabe’s Son In Law Replacement Found

National airliner, Air Zimbabwe (Private) Limited, is hunting for a new chief operating officer (COO) to replace Simba Chikore, who resigned from November 1.

Mr Chikore, who joined Air Zimbabwe on October 5, 2016, left the parastatal to negotiate the coming in of Zimbabwe Airways. Zimbabwe Airways is a new airline owned largely by Zimbabweans in the Diaspora through an investment vehicle called Zimbabwe Aviation Leasing Company.

Once the negotiations to bring in the new airline succeed, Zimbabwe Airways can recruit Mr Chikore, if it believes he can help the company attain its objectives and fulfill its vision. Yesterday, Air Zimbabwe said it was looking for a new COO, and the candidate should possess “aviation industry professional qualifications”.

The person to replace Mr Chikore should also have “10 years recent and direct relevant experience in the airline industry” and “conversant with Caaz (Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe) and ESA regulatory framework”.

Other requisites for the job include a “proven record of five years successful operational management experience in one or more of these specific areas: flight operations, commercial planning, regulatory compliance, ground”.

Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Dr Jorum Gumbo, told The Herald Business last week that Mr Chikore left Air Zimbabwe amicably after giving three months’ notice.

“(Mr) Simba (Chikore) resigned in September and the fact that he has been working up to November is because he had given three months’ notice. Effectively, he resigned from November 1 because by that time, his involvement in negotiating the Zimbabwe Airways deal was affecting his functions at Air Zimbabwe,” said Dr Gumbo.

He added that Mr Chikore became part of the negotiations for the Zimbabwe Airways project since it was initiated by the Transport ministry.

“It is not only (Mr) Simba (Chikore) who was part of the negotiations, but there are other Air Zimbabwe employees such as engineers and others who have also been assisting from Caaz (Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe), and so forth. But I had made him the chief negotiator because of his expertise in the aviation industry.

“I then agreed that since he was having problems assisting Zimbabwe Aviation Leasing Company to negotiate and also with Air Zimbabwe, he should focus on one thing.

So he resigned well in time, and what is wrong with that? I actually asked him to assist Zimbabwe Aviation Leasing Company and they can make their own considerations to give him a job when everything is set,” said Dr Gumbo.

Apart from the COO, Air Zimbabwe is also looking to employ a captain, communications officer, programmer, systems analyst and database administrator. Applications to fill in the vacancies are wanted by December 8. It could not be established when the airline would replace its CEO, Captain Ripton Muzenda, who was sacked recently.

Cpt Muzenda was sacked for allegedly failing to implement programmes proposed by the Air Zimbabwe board such as retrenching almost 300 employees to reduce operating costs. Dr Gumbo said there was nothing amiss in having employees sacked for poor performance, adding that Air Zimbabwe will soon replace Cpt Muzenda.- state media

“A Fool” Evan Mawarire Blasted

https://youtu.be/F6CiYDGlPlU?t=2

Ndaba Nhuku | Evan Mawarire is another fool!

Are you running an NGO? A party? A pressure group?

Was Minister Parirenyatwa there when the guys got into the truck? Who has ever resigned because of an accident in Zimbabwe? What is the state of the road in which the accident occurred? Did the minister supply the driver with alcohol? When more than 400 ZIMBABWEANS died of cholera why didn’t you ask the minister to resign? That was something directly affecting his ministry!

When school kids fail why don’t you ask the minister to resign? All l am asking are useless questions, but then, who have you ever asked to resign other than old Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe with all its problems? Why has Parirenyatwa become your target? We are not fools! Trying to stay relevant after failing to get positions in the team you rooted for!!
And rightly Kerina Mujati pointed out, Who was the minister of health when the accident happened?

BOOTLICKERS UNLIMITED: Mnangagwa Given 15 Cows

Mashonaland West Province has donated 15 beasts to President Emmerson Mnangagwa following his first visit to the province following his inauguration.

The 14 bulls and a heifer were handed over by Minister of State for Mashonaland West Province Webster Shamu last Friday in Chinhoyi, where President Mnangagwa was conferring degrees on 1 218 graduates at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), where he was installed as the university’s second Chancellor. Minister Shamu yesterday said the donation was a special recognition from the province after hosting President Mnangagwa on his official visit to the province.

“All the seven administrative districts in the province, including Makonde, Kariba, Kadoma, Chegutu, Zvimba and Mhondoro contributed two bulls each, while Chinhoyi as the provincial capital offered a heifer. As the first province countrywide to host our President and to witness his first installation as a Chancellor, we saw it fit to give him this donation,” he said.

Minister Shamu said the donation was also a sign of gratitude to the incoming President for accepting the responsibility of leading the people of Zimbabwe at both party and Government levels.

“This was also an appreciation of the decision by people of Zimbabwe to elect him as the second executive President of the country and First Secretary and President of Zanu-PF party,” he said.

Minister Shamu also said President Mnangagwa warmly received the donation.
“Our President is unique, he showed us his humbleness when we handed him the donation, you could see an honest person dedicated towards the cause of the revolution,” he said. – state media

Orbet Mpofu Holds Bible Promises To Fight Corruption

Home Affairs and Culture Minister Obert Mpofu has pledged to address the large number of roadblocks and corruption in the police force.

In an interview with the state-controlled Herald newspaper soon after he was sworn in on Monday, Mpofu noted that many people are complaining about roadblocks and corruption in the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

He is quoted as saying he will deal with these issues that have been raised by motorists over the years.

“This is the first assignment I want to deal with. I have received a lot of complaints about the behaviour of some of our officers and I am going to address that. This is a people’s police force and it has to abide by the expectations of the people, at the same time maintaining law and order.”

Some people claim that police normally ask for bribes at various roadblocks, a situation that has compromised their status in modern Zimbabwe.

At times the ZRP officers manning roadblocks, some of them not sanctioned by the police force, demand spot fines even if this was outlawed.

Police are currently patrolling the streets in Zimbabwe in conjunction with members of the Zimbabwe Defence Force in what has been termed Operation Restore Order.

The Zimbabwe Defence Force staged a coup resulting in the removal of Robert Mugabe from power.

Another Grace Mugabe Sidekick Runs For Life

Cornered former Zanu PF Manicaland provincial youth leader Mubuso Chinguno has reportedly fled to neighbouring South Africa to avoid prosecution for abuse of over $400 000 party funds.

Party insiders said Chinguno sought refuge in South Africa, as the net closed in on him following his suspension in October on allegations of abusing money raised to service residential stands for Zanu PF activists in Chipinge district.

“Just like any other person who was rallying behind the G40 cabal, he has decided to take refuge elsewhere and I am reliably informed that he is in South Africa,” a Zanu PF youth said on condition of anonymity.

“He left the country because of the allegations of land corruption in Chipinge and this has nothing to do with politics.

“He just assumed he was no longer safe and decided to flee the country. I don’t think he will be back in the country very soon because he is in a tight position.”

Zanu PF accuses Chinguno of siphoning money through a private company, Causepun Investments, where he was a co-director with other Zanu PF officials and their spouses.

Efforts to contact Chinguno were fruitless, as his mobile phone was switched off, but Zanu PF Manicaland youth chairman Tawanda Mukodza said they would continue pursuing the matter.

“As it was a party issue, we are going to look at the matter and we want every young person to benefit from the land,” he said. Newsday

Gokwe Man Arrested For Faking Son’s Death In Insurance Scam

A Gokwe man has been slapped with an 18 month jail sentence for faking his son’s death and attempting to defraud Ecosure Funeral Cover of $12 000 in accident insurance cover.

Nicholas Madziva (47) of Magama Village under Chief Nemangwe in Gokwe South was convicted on his own plea of guilty to one count of fraud by Gokwe resident magistrate Mr Christopher Maturure.

He was sentenced to 18 months in prison but six months were suspended for five years on condition he is not within the period convicted of a similar offence.

The remaining 12 months were further suspended on condition Madziva performs 420 hours of community service at Sunganai Secondary School in Gokwe South.

For the State, Mr Tineyi Tirigo told the court that on April 4 Madziva, who is a policy holder on Ecosure funeral cover, hatched a plan to defraud the company and claimed funeral assistance alleging that his son had died in a road traffic accident.

Mr Tirigo said Madziva claimed normal cover assured of $ 2 000 and an extra $10 000 of accidental cover.

The court heard that as a matter of procedure, Ecosure commenced the verification process after Madziva submitted his claim forms.

Mr Tirigo said it was discovered that Madziva’s son whom he had claimed to have died in an accident was alive. The matter was then reported to the police leading to Madziva’s arrest.
The claim made by Madziva was potentially prejudicial to the complainant to the sum of $12 000.

In a related incident, a 31 –year- old man from Gokwe has been sentenced to eight months in prison after he was convicted of attempting to defraud Ecosure Funeral Cover of $1000 after faking his mother’s death.

Knowledge Mponderi of Mponderi Village under Chief Chireya in Gokwe North was also convicted by Mr Maturure and was sentenced to eight months of which three months were
suspended on condition of good behaviour.

Another five months were suspended on condition Mponderi performs 175 hours of community service at Gwebo Primary School in his area.

Mr Tirigo told the court that on September 17 Mponderi, who is a policy holder on Ecosure Funeral Cover, hatched a plan to defraud the company and claimed funeral assistance alleging that his mother had died.

Mponderi claimed funeral assistance of $1 000. When Ecosure conducted their own investigations, they discovered that Mponderi’s mother was alive.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Mponderi’s arrest.- state media

‘Trust Me,’ Said The Smiling Crocodile

By Jacob Ngarivhume| Emerson Mnangagwa is too modest. He opened his inaugural address by suggesting that he has no particularly unique qualification to be President. But surely he cannot have forgotten the pivotal role he played in keeping Robert Mugabe and his ZANU(PF) party in power for all of 37 years. He has had a long and distinguished political career.

As Minister of State Security in the 1980s, for example, he played a crucial role in forcing Joshua Nkomo into exile and crushing ZAPU during Operation Gukurahundi. Lost are the words to describe the terror and horror suffered by tens of thousands of innocent civilians who were tortured and butchered to make Zimbabwe a de facto one-party state and grant his ‘father, mentor, comrade-in-arms’, Robert Mugabe, sweeping autocratic powers.

But the Crocodile would want us to forget this past. So he smiles and beguilingly asks us to let bygones be bygones so that we all move forward together in unity and peace. In his retelling of events, words become twisted to take on new meanings. Accountability for genocide only ‘opens old wounds’; justice becomes ‘retribution’; truths are but ‘unfounded allegations’ to divide the nation; and four years of unmitigated terror is reduced to a ‘moment of madness’. In a reinvented narrative, the Unity Accord allows mass murder to become a ‘closed chapter’, perpetrators on ‘both sides’ were granted amnesty from prosecution and, hence, no one deserves compensation. But we now know his reptilian ways only too well. So we shall not be soothed or fooled into forgetfulness, silence, and acquiescence. On the contrary, we shall remain vigilant until the day that the story of every victim, whose blood soaked the soils of Matabeleland, is told. Nor shall we rest until those responsible for genocide and crimes against humanity are made known and held to account.

Mnangagwa protests his innocence. But if he had nothing to hide, why then did he urge Mugabe to suppress the Chihambakwe Commission’s report on the massacres? How can we move forward together in peace and unity before we have dealt with the violence and conflict of the past? How can we have reconciliation and healing unless the truth is revealed and justice is served? Truth and justice demand the releasing of the Chihambakwe report; inviting international forensic teams to investigate mass graves; granting survivors the right to give their loved ones dignified burials; providing compensation to survivors for their losses; bringing perpetrators to justice; and signing the Rome Statutes of the International Criminal Court. Therein lie the conditions for moving forward with reconciliation, healing, and building lasting peace.

With his hand on his heart, our new President pledged to serve all citizens regardless of their colour or political affiliation. This was a cynical promise from someone whose every past action speaks only of racial discrimination, intolerance, vengeance and violence. He made no apology for his party’s reign of terror to purge the opposition’s rural support base after 2000. White farms were targeted; 200,000 farm workers lost their jobs; thousands of opposition supporters were intimidated and beaten; hundreds were murdered. And who other than the cold-blooded Crocodile had the stomach to launch Operation Murambatsvina during a bitterly cold winter? What had the countless thousands who lost their homes and livelihoods done to deserve such as terrible fate? They had committed the crime of exercising their constitutional right to vote for the candidate of their choice.

But Mugabe greatest debt to his hatchet man was the campaign of terror to defeat the democratic will of the people – the very people Mnangagwa now claims to unite in peace. As head of JOC, Mnangagwa delayed the counting of votes that gave Tsvangirai election victory and masterminded ZANU-PF’s campaign of torture, rape, and murder during the run-off Presidential election of June 2008. Yet, as the world witnessed yet another crime against humanity, to its shame and disgrace, it did nothing. The EU turned a blind eye to the atrocities and a deaf ear to the cries of the victims of violence. They not only engaged with a dictator and a mafia regime in 2013, but they demanded that those they funded do likewise.

Kate Hoey, the British Labour MP who has campaigned for years to highlight oppression under the Mugabe regime, described Mnangagwa in a recent parliamentary debate as “probably the one person in Zimbabwe who inspires even greater terror than Mugabe.” In response, Boris Johnson, the British Foreign Secretary, said in the House of Commons, “Nobody wants simply to see the transition from one unelected tyrant to the next.” Why then the unseemly haste of Britain’s Africa Minister, Rory Stewart, to congratulate Mnangagwa and have the IMF embargo lifted? It is a reminder that Britain and the EU, for all their sanctimonious lecturing about the rule of law, human rights and democracy, are perfectly willing to sacrifice truth, justice, and the rights of victims for peace and stability under yet another tyrant.

And to fellow Zimbabweans yearning for peace, we understand your longings and the hopes you have put in our new President. But look closely into his eyes. For there you will see only Crocodile tears for you and his hapless victims. And though he may smile, his bite is deadly.

Is Mnangagwa Actually Instructing Newspapers To Misspell isiNdebele Words? – OUTBURST

“Why are the mistakes coming up now when Mnangagwa has taken over?”

Outcry as media repeatedly fails to spell an IsiNdebele word (SEE PICTURES)

By Paul Nyathi| A huge outcry has come up in Matabeleland after various media houses and government departments failed to correctly spell the IsiNdebele word “Amhlophe” in messages congratulating President Emerson Mnangagwa on his inauguration.

A ZimEye.com reader from Bulawayo Nkululeko Moyo expressed unhappiness at the number of times the various media houses continued on wrongly spelling the word which he described as an act of deliberate negligence.

“Mistakes do happen and people spell words wrongly maybe as a misprint but if the error is repeated up to ten times and more it can no longer be taken as a typing error,” he said.

Moyo said they had been discussing the continuous wrongly spelling of what he called the simplest and most used IsiNdebele word in Zimbabwe and they all concluded that it was arrogance on the part of the publishers.

According to Moyo, incorrect spelling of the word is having a huge impact on President Mnangagwa’s brand among the people of the region.

“It’s not the first time congratulatory messages are being made in the newspapers, during Mugabe’s era there was never such a mistake,” he said.

“Why are the mistakes coming up now when Mnangagwa has taken over? Is he instructing them to incorrectly spell the word?” he fumed.

Efforts by ZimEye.com to speak to the editor of one of the publishers were unsuccessful but a junior member of staff at the media house indicated that the advertisements came from the companies sending the message as written and the paper could not be in a position to edit them.

It was not possible to obtain a comment from the President’s office.

Kamba Shines for Zimbabwe In Tanzania

Staff Reporter | Multiple award winning humanitarian, Rumbidzai Kamba could not let the commotion that was rocking the country a few days ago bring her down as she flew the country’s flag high at the Pan African Humanitarian Awards held in Tanzania a fortnight ago.

Kamba who is the founder and director of ZiMwana Worldwide, an organisation working on challenges facing young women and girls in the disadvantaged communities, clinched the continental award for being the in-community-leadership at a colourful ceremony held in the Tanzanian capital on the day Zimbabweans were marching in the streets against President Robert Mugabe.

Kamba was immediately meant to fly out to the United Kingdom to receive a similar award from renowned CA Magazine global awards but could not make it due to the political uncertainty that was prevailing in the country.

ZimEye.com congratulates Ms Kamba for her accolades.

Mutsvangwa Insists Tsvangirai Blocked Biti And Others Demanding VP Post

As a standing committee member, Mr Job Sikhala confirmed there were of a truth overtures from the army to MDC members last month – that the military run government approached some of his colleagues in the middle of the night with the intention of isolating Tsvangirai by offering some MDC-T cabinet positions, Presidential adviser Christopher Mutsvangwa yesterday hit back at suggestions by MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai that he was never approached to form a coalition Cabinet. Mutsvangwa reiterated that Mr Tsvangirai blocked his deputies and Mr Tendai Biti from joining the Cabinet because of their disloyalty to the embattled opposition leader. He was responding to Mr Tsvangirai’s spokesman Mr Luke Tamborinyoka’s outburst, denying assertions his boss was approached to allow his legislators take up Cabinet posts in the new dispensation.

“One cannot run away from the fact that the fate that befell Tendai Biti and a clutch of MDC deputies is a salutary reminder to the peril of disloyalty to Morgan Tsvangirai,” said Mutsvangwa. Only a public disowning of this menacing sword of Damocles by MT himself would have helped the process of inclusivity forward.” Mutsvangwa said a golden opportunity availed itself at the two million march when the war veterans invited him (Tsvangirai) at the Zimbabwe Grounds which he attended.

https://youtu.be/9C2gaTBMcaQ?t=7m31s

“For political safety of prospective Cabinet candidates from the opposition, President Mnangagwa had to be prudent in testing the waters of inclusivity in an atmosphere where opposition stalwarts sought a national unity government instead,” said Mutsvangwa. After all enough deputies of the Eighth Parliament had paid the high prices of breaching the draconian provisions that militate against perceived party discipline. You can also count myself and the spiteful loss of the Norton constituency seat. That is why it was that much easier for the new President to reach out to the politically unencumbered figures from academia and business.”

Mr Tamborinyoka was quoted in privately owned media scoffing at Mutsvangwa’s claims that the MDC-T leader turned down an offer to form a coalition Cabinet, demanding that he be included in the presidium. He described Mutsvangwa’s statement as “dales and typical of a government used to misrepresent facts”.

Mr Tamborinyoka said President Mnangagwa never approached Mr Tsvangirai who was open to such an arrangement, hoping it would create an environment for implementing reforms which could lead to credible elections next year. – state media/additional reporting

Army Spends 22 Days Arresting Chombo & Chipanga, Where Are The Rest Of the Thieves?

Dear Editor.

Biggest Question For Zimbabweans

The Zimbabwe Defence Force said they wanted to remove criminals around President Robert Mugabe

★ Chombo and Chipanga ndivo criminals vega here vataitira zvose?
★ Can you move hundreds of army tankers, thousands of heavily armed soldiers to arrest only Chombo and Chipanga?
★ Can the army give us the list of all criminals who were surrounding Robert Mugabe because if they remain only these two we will be shocked and surprised how two people can surround Mugabe?
★ Zimbabweans would be happy to assist the army in their search for the criminals if they are hiding inside the country for them to be arrested?
★ If our army is taking so long to arrest only two criminals, how long will it take to arrest all of the criminals who surrounded Mugabe?

Chiwenga Unleashed Karanga Speaking Soldiers On Kasukuwere? Video Shows House’s Latest Condition Upon 2nd Visit

How Robert Mugabe triggered a tribal and factional war.

Staff Reporter| A latest video of former ZANU PF National Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere’s house shows karanga speaking soldiers paying a second visit to the property.

The video may suggest earlier suspicion by analysts that military generals (in order to ensure loyalty and performance), unleashed Karanga speaking soldiers to deal with the G40 faction leaders. The development strongly illustrates the events which eventually culminated in the coup on November 13th but were sequentially directly triggered by the incidents beginning from the 30th June 2017 when while in Masvingo former President Robert Mugabe spoke loudly saying there are some leaders among the Karangas who have declared they do not want anymore to be ruled by Zezurus (from Harare.)

Mugabe ordered the Masvingo people they must accept being ruled by Harare. “Then the seniors who want to corrupt the youths who say we no longer want to be ruled by Harare…they’re finalists and they claim that their tribe is superior. The liberation struggle was won by non tribal means. Every tribe contributed to our victory,” Mugabe declared.

Mugabe continued, “We should follow the ethos set by the likes of Muzenda and Chitepo . . .that is why we say you should listen to what the people want. Here in Masvingo I am troubled by one thing. I don’t know who said sugar is so sweet that people are killing each other over sugar.” WATCH VIDEO BELOW –

SIMBA CHIKORE AFTERMATH: Joram Gumbo Named for Blowing Up USD 2 Billion In “Fake Costs” For Harare-Beitbridge Road Construction

  • More than national budget.
  • Enter Emmerson Mnangagwa

By Farai D Hove| The man who presided over the appointing of former President Robert Mugabe’s son in law, Simba Chikore to the national airliner Air Zimbabwe, Joram Gumbo, has been named in a long report that exposes him for blowing more than $2 billion in dodgy costs for the Harare-Beitbridge road highway construction.

The report authored way back in 2016, reveals the road costs less than $700 million to construct. The embarrassment comes at a time when Kenya is constructing a similar road which links three countries and costs less than $621 million. The difference -$2 billion is believed to be going straight into the pockets of ZANU PF cronies and crooks.

Kenya’s 530 km Lamu-Garissa-Isiolo road is to cost just 620 million U.S. dollars.

More than 0,5 national budget

Zimbabwe’s annual budget is a paltry US$4 billion and at least 96% of the total revenues under the budget go to the wage bill and other expenditure, while only 4% remains for capital projects.

A 2016 government-commissioned report titled The Transport Master Plan, back then revealed that although the project is desirable, it is uneconomic and unaffordable.

“Public-private partnerships (PPPs) road sub-sector projects in Zimbabwe at the present time are inhibited by the low volume of traffic, even on the major highway like the Harare-Beitbridge Road, whose average traffic is around 1 000 vehicles per day, making the roads unviable on a self-financing basis, although they may be economically viable,” reads the document.

“Alternative investment strategies include the transfer of some of the commercial or demand risk to government, either through availability payment mechanism, equity injection or other similar arrangements, which may not be feasible under the prevailing economic environment.”

The cost of the construction of the road will blow up US$2,7 billion which is to 67,5% of the country’s annual budget.

In 2003, the cost of dualising the highway was pegged at US$833 million, before it went up to US$1 billion, US$1,2 billion, US$2 billion, US$2,5 billion and now US$2,7 billion.

The then Transport Minister Joram Gumbo was in 2013 also quoted indicating that from the bids that had been submitted, the project would cost anything between US$1,5 billion and US$2 billion.

The Financial Gazette cites its attempts to obtain answers from Gumbo on how the cost could have more than doubled, and he said: “Go and ask those people who have been saying it because I do not know what you are talking about.”

Gumbo’s then deputy, Michael Madanha, who told the Senate on October 21 that three bids for the project had been submitted to Mnangagwa for consideration before announcement of the winner.

Enter Emmerson Mnangagwa

More stink later emerged when it became apparent that government cancelled the tender of the first company which won it and opted to break the statutory rules so that the tender would be handled by a commission led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa back then.

Harare West legislator, Jessie Majome, said the way the project was being handled raised suspicion.

“The move startlingly breaks all the rules in the good governance and rule of law book. What on earth happened to checks and balances? Is it a trap for him (Mnangagwa) to trip on? Moreso it rides roughshod over the rigorous procedures in the Procurement Act and the principles of financial management in the Constitution. No wonder why we keep ranking low on the business competitiveness index,” she said.

Questions have remained on how and why the figures changed amid concerns that the money is going into the pockets of crooks and party cronies. One such other project being the Gwanda solar project which has seen a convicted fraudster Wicknell Chivayo raking away $5million of ratepayers’ money for a project what would never take off but would make Chivayo an instant millionaire. Driver Escapes Death As Truck Is Suddenly Burnt Down While He Is Sleeping

The driver of the Vic Falls truck which was burnt down and whose images circulated Sunday morning, is safe.

The truck went into flames on Saturday night.

burnt down truck….state media

The driver narrowly escaped after he retired to bed in it, a state media report reveals.

No foul play is suspected for now and we stand guided by the fire experts on what could have caused the accident.” – state media

London Mass Protest Over Gukurahundi

By MHRRH|  Matebele Genocide Demonstration Funding Appeal: Support The Campaign for Truth, Justice and Reparations for the Matebele in Zimbabwe. The Matebele Genocide Matters!

The 1893 Mthwakazi Human Rights Restoration Movement (1983 MHRRM) plans to conduct demonstrations against the Zimbabwean government for the genocide this government committed against the Matebele people in 1983 and against on-going oppression of the Matebele people in Zimbabwe. The Demos are planned to take place on the 23rd December 2017 in a number of countries including the United Kingdom. In the UK the Demo is planned to take place at the Zimbabwe Embassy at the Strand from 13:00 hrs to 16:00hrs.

In 1983, the then Government of Robert Gabriel Mugabe unleashed a North Korean trained crack unit called the 5th Brigade of Zimbabwe in Matebeleland. This unit caused a lot of untold suffering in its genocidal forays in our territory and turned Matebeleland into its ethnic killing fields and into its ethnic “rivers of blood”. It also turned Matebeleland into an Auschwitz concentration camp of Africa never witnessed in Southern Africa.

Between 50 000 and 100 000 Matebele people died in this genocide. Millions were driven from their homes to neighbouring countries and to overseas countries. Thousands endured torture and rape of unimaginable proportions. The survivors remain traumatised, enslaved and held hostage in Zimbabwe by the same tyrannical rulers who committed and continue to commit heinous crimes against them.

To this day, this ethnic cleansing Genocide continues unabated under different forms and guises including cultural and linguistic genocide as well as the brazen confiscation of Matebele Land. The Matebele rights and that of others are violated with impunity. The Matebele are not allowed to assembly and exercise their cultural rights. Any form of assembly invites beatings and arrests.

The ring leaders of this genocide were Robert Gabriel Mugabe, the deposed President of Zimbabwe, the current President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who at the time was the State Security Minister, Constatino “Dominic Chinenge” Chiwenga, the current Army General who deposed Mugabe through a Coup D’état, the late Army General Commander, Rex Nhongo Mujuru, Air Force Commander, Perence “Bigboy” Shiri who was the then Commander of the 5th Brigade and now the newly appointed Minister of Agriculture and  the former Defence Minister, Sydney Sekeramai among many others. At the time of the genocide, Perence Shiri assumed a godly status and blasphemously nick-named himself “Black Jesus”.

The current president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was the then State Security Minister, compared the Matebele, in April 1983, to “cockroaches” that needed to be killed by a now banned insecticide called DDT. The North-Korean trained 5th Brigade killing machine was compared to the DDT insecticide.

At the time of the genocide, the current President, Emmerson Mnangagwa made statements that fuelled the genocide, such as,

“Blessed are they who will follow the path of the Government laws, for their days on earth will be increased. But woe unto those who will choose the path of collaboration with dissidents for we will certainly shorten their stay on earth.’

-MINISTER OF STATE SECURITY EMMERSON MNANGAGWA, 4 APRIL 1983

Driven by fear to protect themselves, the majority of the ring leaders of the genocide have carried a Coup Detat in Zimbabwe and installed the then State Security Minister who was the leading figure in the Genocide campaign against the Matebele, Emmerson Mnangagwa as the President of Zimbabwe.

In the midst of this unfolding dangerous militarization of a government in Zimbabwe by genocidalists, the Matebele voice about this genocide is being drowned out. Our concerns are being ignored by the world. We therefore make this funding appeal to help us get our voice out and be heard.

We are a Movement emerging from a Nation whose collective rights have been grossly trampled upon, severely assaulted and attacked since 1893.

The Movement’s ultimate purpose is to restore the collective social, economic, educational, and cultural, language and territorial rights of the people of Mthwakazi (Matebeleland)

  1. October 1888: The Fraudulent Rudd Concession for exclusive mining rights for Rhodes and his colonial cronies was deceptively obtained by Charles Rudd; another colonial agent of Cecil John Rhodes. POISONOUS SNAKE PEEL & CREMORA: Mnangagwa Gets 15 Beasts’ Gift

By Farai D Hove| Barely 2 weeks in office, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has received a sudden punch of gifts in the form of LIVE beasts – as people starve in Mashonaland West, the provincial leaders have donated 15 beasts to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

This was during his first visit to the province following his inauguration.

Ironically the man who organised Mnangagwa the massive gift is none other than the Minister who used to label Robert Mugabe  – “cremora,” Webster Shamu.

One of the main tenets of corporate governance principles is that public office holders must not accept gifts given them as a result of and or during the course of their work.

caricature

But President Mnangagwa went ahead to receive 14 bulls and a heifer which were handed over by Minister of State for Mashonaland West Province Webster Shamu last Friday in Chinhoyi, where President Mnangagwa was conferring degrees on 1 218 graduates at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), where he was installed as the university’s second Chancellor.

As the first province countrywide to host our President and to witness his first installation as a Chancellor, we saw it fit to give him this donation,” he was quoted by the state media saying.

Obert Mpofu’s Solution for Corrupt Traffic-Police: Govt Just Pay Them Well

Corruption ZRP? …. just pay them well…

State Media – Newly-appointed Home Affairs and Culture Minister Dr Obert Mpofu yesterday made a commitment to deal with police roadblocks and corruption which have strained relations between the public and law enforcement agents. Speaking after being sworn-in yesterday, Dr Mpofu said he had received a lot of complaints about the conduct of the police.

“That is the first assignment I want to deal with. I have received a lot of complaints about the behaviour of some of our officers and I am going to address that. This is a people’s police force and it has to abide by the expectations of the people, at the same time maintaining law and order,” said Dr Mpofu.
“We don’t want to compromise our mandate, but we have to do it in a manner that will not destabilise or create discomfort for our people. I am going to address the issue of roadblocks, corruption and all issues people and even some officers have been complaining about.”

Motorists have in the past slammed the police for mounting a chain of roadblocks that inconvenience them. They have compounded this by demanding spot fines from motorists for minor vehicle faults even courts ruled recently that this was unlawful. Other officers are accused of detaining motorists needlessly, a situation observers said dented the country’s image as a favourite tourist destination. Dr Mpofu said the police officers’ conditions of service also called for immediate attention.

“Their conditions of service also need to be looked into and we will be appealing to the Minister of Finance to fund the activities of the police, because some of the activities we have are due to lack of funding,” he said.

He said President Mnangagwa wanted a paradigm shift in the way Government officials operated and maximum effort was needed.

“We are ready for that. We will actually go an extra mile to fulfill the people’s aspirations. There is lot of anxiety in the people to see a change in the ways we manage both economic and social issues. The President has made his position clear; ours is to implement the people’s aspirations. We are ready to take up the challenge as guided by the President,” Dr Mpofu said.

Don’t Drink Borehole Water, It’s Contaminated – Harare City Council

Harare City Council has urged residents to avoid drinking borehole water as it may be contaminated. This came out at last week’s full council meeting.

Councillors are however, split with some complaining that borehole water is dirty, while others say it meets World Health Organisation standards. Acting town clerk Mrs Josephine Ncube said residents needed to stop relying on borehole water as it has not been tested.

“We assure residents that our water is safe. Residents should desist from going to boreholes because some of them have contaminated water. We had to decommission some boreholes, especially at Matapi flats,” she said.

She said the city had taken measures to ensure the supply of clean water to residents.

“We have about $8 million in our budget for pipe replacement next year. This year work has started and is progressing well. We start in areas that are really bad and we need to replace three-quarters. We expect the pace to increase next year,” she said.

According to Mrs Ncube, the city was losing a lot of money buying chemicals to purify water, and this was unsustainable.

“The cost of treating water is very high because the water is contaminated. We should reduce the rate of water contamination. There is also contamination from industries, urban agriculture and we are looking at new chemicals that can be used to clean the water. We are carrying out trials and may reduce the number of chemicals from eight to three,” she said.

Some councillors urged urban farmers to produce crops organically to reduce contamination of ground water with chemical residue. Director of Water Engineer Hosiah Chisango said there were complaints over the quality of water, but tests and investigations at the treatment works and at various taps indicated that the water was within WHO guidelines, with the exception of colour in some areas.

“We had to increase dosage of chemicals to deal with algae. Our water remains safe; monitoring and testing has increased to ensure it remains safe,” he said.

This year, council embarked on reservoir cleaning to ensure supply of clean water. Marimba, Kambanji, Kopje and Bluff Hill reservoirs have been cleaned, while work is in progress on Mutiny and Ridge Road reservoirs. The exercise is expected to continue into 2018 and beyond.

Mnangagwa’s Cabinet Is Illegal – Experts

Staff Reporter| Barely hours after appointing new ministers, experts have come out to challenge President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the move.

UK academic Dr Nkululeko Sibanda, among other experts reveal that Mnangagwa’s cabinet setup is illegal from inception.

The cabinet, revealed today has 5 women out of over 30 members. There is also a disproportionate distribution of tribes and regions in the set up.

“…In a country of laws, is still illegal,” said Dr Sibanda.

He continued saying, “it has about 5 women out of over 30 members. It needs to be challenged in a court of law.

“ED needs to learn that the law is a must not a convenience for him. Gender and regional balance is a requirement of the law.”

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| Despite being tormented continually by former President Robert Mugabe and his wife, Grace, Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Chairperson, Ezra Chadzamira reflected fervent passion for the deposed nonagenarian.

Chadzamira made an embarrassing blunder yesterday when he told party members to rally behind Mugabe in next year’s crucial elections. He openly declared that Robert Mugabe is contesting in the upcoming 2018 elections, shortly before correcting himself – AUDIO STREAMING shortly – refresh to listen.

“In Mnangagwa We Have A God Given” Leader – Hungwe

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| Masvingo State Minister State Minister Josaya Dunira Hungwe has described President Emmerson Mnangagwa as a God given political saint.

While in what appeared like excitement, frothing at the mouth and panting, Hungwe told party members at a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting in Masvingo yesterday, Mnangagwa was chosen by God to lead the country.

“In President Mnangagwa we have a God given leader. Despite the challenges he encountered God knew he was the ideal person to lead the country.

We can now sing and celebrate as Zimbabweans because President Mnangagwa is our saviour. Yes he is able to transform our lives,” said Hungwe.

The most senior politician in Masvingo was silent on the government’ s economic recovery policies.

Political analysts here said the Zanu PF culture of bootlicking would continue despite Robert Mugabe’s resignation. Political writer and analyst Batsiranai Ngugama said Hungwe was a confirmed political misfit.

“What can you expect from Hungwe, he is a tired and jaded politician.

His comments reflect the typical Zanu PF bootlicking mentality,” said Ngugama.

Soldiers Give Vendors 24 Hour Ultimatum To Vacate Illegal Selling Points

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| A group of soldiers descended on the streets of the ancient city of Masvingo today and ordered vendors to vacate undesignated selling points.

The soldiers from the military police department, said failure to comply with the directive would spell trouble for the vendors.

“We know you have been selling your merchandise at illegal points- please vacate the undesignated selling points as soon as possible.

You have 24 hours to vacate illegal selling points,” said a soldier from the military police department.

Disgruntled vendors said they were not happy with the militarisation of civilian matters.

” I think this issue is between vendors and the city council.

How can armed soldiers come out of the barracks to meddle in civilian affairs, ” said a vendor who declined to be named.

Masvingo Mayor, Councillor Hubert Fidze was not immediately available for a comment on the matter.

A council official said the exercise was part of the operation restore legacy programme.

“We want to de-congest the city so we are working with the police and the army to restore order in the city centre,” said the official.

Army General Who Participated In Coup Wants State House In 2018

BAMAKO – The army general who is going for the Presidency in 2018 also participated in the country’s latest coup, it has emerged.

The Malian general and former government minister has resigned his post to stand in the country’s presidential elections in July 2018, sources close to the officer said Sunday.

Moussa Sinko Coulibaly is the second person to declare his candidacy, after Kalifa Sanogo, the mayor of Mali’s second-largest city, Sikasso, who announced his bid in July.

They are hoping to unseat President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who has not yet said if he will seek a second five-year term, though he is widely expected to do so.

In his letter of resignation, obtained by AFP, Coulibaly said he wanted to “contribute in another manner to find solutions to the political, economic, educational, cultural and social challenges facing our country.”

He was a member of the army forces which toppled Mali’s government in a coup in 2012, which ushered in a wave of violence by Islamist extremists that were halted only after an intervention by French forces in January 2013.

The country returned to democracy the following August when Keita was elected president.

Coulibaly was a minister of territorial administration in the transition government, a post he kept for several months in Keita’s cabinet.

He has a degree from France’s prestigious Saint-Cyr military academy and has several key supporters, according to his entourage, in particular in the military.

Mali’s government has postponed regional and municipal elections in recent months over security concerns, as it has struggled to implement a 2015 peace deal with former Touareg rebels, with the state still absent from vast swathes of its northern territory.

Last week the government said regional elections scheduled for December 17 would now be held in April, a move which drew the ire of several groups which signed the 2015 accord.

But Keita, in an interview with Jeune Afrique (Young Africa) magazine published Sunday, said the presidential vote would not be pushed back for security reasons.

Tensions remain high, however, with a top municipal official in the central city of Djougani shot and killed by armed men outside his home overnight Saturday, local sources told AFP. – AFP

ZIM ARMY IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD: Mutsvangwa Lays Gauntlet

The Commander-of-the-Defence-Forces-General-Constantino-Guvheya-Nyikadzino-Chiwenga

By Staff Reporter| The Zimbabwe National Army is the best in the world, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s special advisor, Chris Mutsvangwa has said.

Speaking at the weekend, Mutsvangwa said the Zim military has demonstrated it is a competent force as he spoke of its ability to change the government as happened during the coup last month.

Mutsvangwa even paired Zimbabwe with the United States Of America.

“Did they say the American government is a military junta? These are double standards. We condemn any fingerpointing at our illustrious army. Stay away from fingerpointing at our army. It is the best in the world…”

“We want to say we stand by our army. It is a competent and professional army. It intervened in a judicious and peaceful manner to arrest a situation which could have made this country go off the cliff.”

Mutsvangwa also cautioned while saying it is not fair to criticise the president on his cabinet choices. He also condemned the opposition party MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai for being critical of the man before he has been given a chance to prove himself while saying Mnangagwa was open to the idea of including MDC politicians in his cabinet.

“We cannot have a country of people without any purpose because the economy is not providing them with opportunities which they want. The focus of the President, immediately, is how to revive this economy. That is where his attention is focused on,” he said.

He said the sacrifices of all people – past and present – in the liberation movements were not only for the flag, a leader or party, but to develop a prosperous country.

The current focus was to develop the country into the best destination for business in the world, which in turn would grow the economy and better livelihoods, he said.

“The route which we have taken is the route of wealth, the route of money, prosperity and building a model African country, which no other African has ever done. The route of having an economy that grows at a rate of 10, 15, 20 percent per annum for the next 10 to 20 years,” said  Mutsvangwa.

The country will witness the construction of skyscrapers and highways anchored on judicious exploitation of the country’s mineral wealth.

He said smelting plants would be set up along the Great Dyke to contribute to the country’s economy through production of steel.

The opposition,  Mutsvangwa said, had not raised a finger when G40 was taking root in the country, only to find their voice to criticise the new administration. G40 is a group of politicians reportedly fronted by the former First Lady Grace Mugabe to fight then Vice President Mnangagwa.

Turning to the new Cabinet, Mutsvangwa said the President had reached out to the opposition, but MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai insisted on seconding people of his choice.

The war veterans leader said  Mnangagwa, who is fulfilling ZANU-PF’s mandate, had identified people in the opposition he thought he could work with.

Mr Tsvangirai, however, proposed his own list.

“In setting up Government, President Mnangagwa is using the mandate that former president  Mugabe got in 2013. He has not secured his own. He is waiting for his own mandate in 2018,” said  Mutsvangwa.

“He (President Mnangagwa) said he wanted some people from the MDC to assist him as the person who has the mandate, but the MDC, through their leader Tsvangirai, turned around and said he wanted to give him people of his choice.”

This, he said, scuppered plans to co-opt people into Government from the opposition as they were threatened with expulsion.

The move to include the opposition was informed by the unity shown when thousands of Zimbabweans across the political, racial and ethnic divide marched in support of the intervention of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces which forced then President, Mugabe, to resign.

Blocking President Mnangagwa from selecting people of his choice proved to be the deal breaker, said  Mutsvangwa.

“To block someone with a mandate to fish from the opposition ranks to form Government when you lost in 2013 was too much. They were intruding on the mandate of the President,” said  Mutsvangwa.

As a result, he said, some sections of the media had changed stance and started vilifying President Mnangagwa as a failure when he spent only a week in office.

Added  Mutsvangwa: “I am saying this because all the papers have started attacking the new President. He is being judged in 37 hours more than someone who has been in power for 37 years.”

Mutsvangwa also said President Mnangagwa, as a lawyer, was following the law by appointing people who were elected into Parliament, with latitude of no more than five people from outside to include in his Cabinet.

His ability to satisfy the various interests in the party, Mutsvangwa said, was also governed by existing structures. He called on people to mobilise for prospective candidates that can make a difference in Government.

He said the inclusion of military personnel in Government was common in the West and America.

“The choice of the President to include members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces is his prerogative, moreso when they are loyal, patriotic and competent. There is no law in the world which says generals cannot be found in Cabinet.

“We even start with American statecraft. President (Donald) Trump has generals in his cabinet and they do not make an issue out of it. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.”

For example, General John Francis Kelly, is currently White House Chief of Staff in President Trump’s administration.

Another retired United States general, Michael Flynn, served briefly as National Security Advisor to President Trump.

There are only two military personnel – Air Marshal Perrance Shiri (Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Resettlement) and Major-General Sibusiso Moyo (Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister) – in President Mnangagwa’s 22-member Cabinet.

“Did they say the American government is a military junta? These are double standards. We condemn any fingerpointing at our illustrious army. Stay away from fingerpointing at our army. It is the best in the world,” he said.

“We want to say we stand by our army. It is a competent and professional army. It intervened in a judicious and peaceful manner to arrest a situation which could have made this country go off the cliff.”

ARMY LATEST: Chiwenga Taking VP Post – Projections

Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) commander, Gen. Constantino Chiwenga, is seen standing a good chance of being elevated straight from the barracks to become one of the two vice presidents at Zanu PF’s extraordinary congress scheduled for this month, the Daily News claims.

The development comes after Mnangagwa’s special advisor, Chris Mutsvangwa stated that the Zimbabwean military is the best in the world.

The report states that Chiwenga is set to top Emmerson Mnangagwa’s list, which includes former Defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi, ex-War Veterans minister Tshinga Dube; Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo; minister of Defence, Security and War Veterans Kembo Mohadi and Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda.

Said Mutsvangwa at the weekend, “we condemn any fingerpointing at our illustrious army. Stay away from fingerpointing at our army. It is the best in the world…”

“We want to say we stand by our army. It is a competent and professional army. It intervened in a judicious and peaceful manner to arrest a situation which could have made this country go off the cliff.”

After Mnangagwa and his Team Lacoste faction made a dramatic comeback — riding on the military’s intervention in Zanu PF’s internal politics last month — Phelekezela Mphoko, who was the other vice president, became part of the collateral damage targeting key members of the rival Generation 40 faction.

The party’s constitution entitles Mnangagwa to appoint the two vice presidents, the national chairperson, heads of the politburo and its committee members and the deputies to the heads of departments.

Mnangagwa has found himself in a fix over who to appoint as his deputies.

Chiwenga is seen topping the list, which includes former Defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi, ex-War Veterans minister Tshinga Dube; Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo; minister of Defence, Security and War Veterans Kembo Mohadi and Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda.

Mnangagwa also finds himself with the need to appease the feminine folk displeased by his recent Cabinet appointments which only had four women out of 22 Cabinet ministers.

The ruling party’s women’s league has recently been clamouring for the restoration of the quota system in the presidium. It would therefore be interesting to see if Mnangagwa would budge, in which case he might have to pick from some of the seasoned female heavyweights such as Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Edna Madzongwe, Eunice Sandi-Moyo and Angeline Masuku, among others.

Analysts told the Daily News that it will not be surprising that Chiwenga could secure one of the vice presidents’ post after the army chief played a pivotal role in a military operation, which toppled Mugabe and ushered in Mnangagwa.

The appointment of air marshal Perrance Shiri and Major General Sibusiso Moyo into Mnangagwa’s first Cabinet have largely been interpreted as his show of gratitude to the military for clearing his way to State House.

As such, he might reward Chiwenga with the vice presidency.

Social commentator, Rashweat Mukundu, believes there is a high possibility that Chiwenga will emerge as vice president at the congress.

“He is raising a wave of popularity not only in Zanu PF but nationally and Zanu PF may look at him as an asset come the 2018 elections,” said Mukundu.

Political analyst, Maxwell Saungweme, said with the inclusion of generals Moyo and Shiri as ministers, common sense can be that generals (Philip) Sibanda and Chiwenga will be VPs.

“They can’t have their juniors be ministers when they are out,” said Saungweme.

“As you know, ministers are senior to commanders in hierarchy and command structure. But it seems Ngwena wants these to be elected at their congress this month as opposed to appointing.

“He can appoint them as VPs anyway if he wants without any legal issues. By the way Chiwenga and Sibanda also meet the Zanu PF equation for VPs as they represent Zipra and Zanla as well as the Ndebele-Shona balance the party has always done for VPs.

“They can’t let others eat from their coup sweat. Mnangagwa’s Cabinet showed us that it was prize-giving season for the boys involved in a coup that include war vets, military and other Lacoste members.

“Chiwenga and Sibanda can’t lead a coup to let others eat or for them to remain stagnant. Chiwenga and Sibanda VPs is a possibility,” opined Saungweme.

Political analyst, McDonald Lewanika, said it was very possible that Chiwenga will be the vice president or one of them.

“To all intents and purposes, the post is the commander Defence Forces’ for the taking, and if he wants it there will be no dark horses. But if it’s not something he wants, then others who may be worth considering in the spirit of the Cabinet already set and bridging the divide in Zanu PF, would be colonel Tshinga Dube, and Sydney Sekeramayi.

“Madzongwe was once touted as potential VP but the fact that this was initially to replace ED this may make her consideration a tough sale, as is Sekeramayi’s.

“It is unlikely that ED will step out of Zanu PF for the VP pick, the only danger that is there is that if Congress is allowed to choose a VP for ED that vice president as a product of congress election rather Mnangagwa’s appointee will be a very powerful if not dangerous VP.

“On the bright side it would also assist in checking ED’s power as he will have as second in command, another popularly elected member,” said Lewanika.

Another analyst, Eldred Masunungure said it would be unwise for Mnangagwa to appoint Chiwenga to the position of vice president as it would endorse the notion that the military are effectively calling the shots.

“I think it will be imprudent for Chiwenga to be appointed VP at this stage. It will become abundantly evident that ZDF is being rewarded for the cardinal role it played in the ascendency of the incumbent president.

“We all know the president was fired from Zanu PF; he was in the wilderness politically and physically after he fled to South Africa. He was rehabilitated courtesy of the military intervention.

“(Now) the military has already been rewarded with two Cabinet posts which I think is adequate. He needs to ensure that the military is unified as an institution and is not unduly fractured… So if he is thinking about it (appointing Chiwenga as VP) it will be imprudent and unwise maybe in a new term,” said Masunungure.

Masunungure did not rule out the politics of ethnicity which remain a pivotal variable in the politics of Zimbabwe.

He said by this token Mnangagwa may not need to look to Mashonaland Central or Mashonaland East for a VP as many may think they already had their share.

“Frankly he would need to think about the traditional source in Matabeleland by virtue of the unity accord. Perhaps (Kembo) Mohadi could be a serious candidate for Matabeleland and then outside Matabeleland he would need to think of the women quota.

“As it is Muchinguri is a serious candidate. She is female, a war veteran and comes from province that has never had a VP. So he can kill several birds with one stone,” Masunungure said.

There have, however, been some voices that have been calling on Mnangagwa to appoint the most senior pre-Unity Accord Zapu official, Dumiso Dabengwa despite the fact that he now leads his own party.

These include Mnangagwa’s own special advisor, Chris Mutsvangwa, who recently told a press conference that Dabengwa should be one of the vice presidents.

Mutsvangwa argued that this would help the country’s liberation movement.- Daily News

Top Lawyer Jori Dies In Mystery Accident

Mystery surrounds the circumstances leading to the fatal accident that claimed the life of prominent Harare lawyer, Edmore Jori in the early hours of Saturday.

The accident is understood to have taken place near the Women’s University in Mt Pleasant as he drove towards Greencroft.

It is not clear whether Jori lost control of his ML and hit another car, crashed against a pole or he fell asleep under the influence of alcohol and lost control of the vehicle as the police report on the accident was not immediately available.

All things being equal, Jori will be laid to rest in his rural home of Buhera today.

At the time of his death, Jori was with Wintertons Legal Practitioners in the capital having joined them in 2002. He had been a partner since 2005 and headed law firm’s Energy, Infrastructure and Natural Resources Department.

Profiling Jori, Wintertons said he had:

“…developed a niche market, having handled numerous Power Generation, Transmission and related transactions in this increasingly competitive sector since the Government adopted the deliberate policy of opening up space for private players.”

His areas of specialisation included transactions relating to Mining, Infrastructure Development, Public – Private Sector Partnerships, Information, Communication and Technology, Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking, Bilateral and Syndicated Finance, together with Property transactions and complex commercial litigation.

But while the legal fraternity, family and friends were plunged into mourning, the intrusive social media was awash with theories on what might have led to the fatal accident.

All the theories featured Jori’s lover and trendy Harare businesswoman, Michelle Kawome.

H-Metro could not get hold of Michelle to give her side of her story as her phone was under the care of a close friend, Chipo.

People who knew Jori as Michelle’s lover were visiting her home to convey their condolence messages and offer moral support while the bulk of mourners were at his Greystone Park home from where his body left for Buhera.

Understandably, Chipo said Michelle was not in a good place to do an interview as she was still grieving.

“I am sorry Michelle cannot talk to you about that issue. She is still grieving, Eddie is not even buried yet and makutoda kunyora nezvazvo.

“I know you are doing a job but don’t you have heart to do a story whilst she is still grieving?

“You can write whatever you want from social media, I don’t think she will be able to talk to you,” said Chipo.

It also emerged that Michelle had been forced to deactivate her Facebook account on Saturday as people started posting messages incriminating her.

THE THEORIES

***What is agreed is that the two were at Pariah State before moving to Pabloz where award-winning South African house wheel-spinner, DJ Shimza was performing.

***What is also agreed is that Michelle and Jori were using different cars.

***What is also agreed is that as they left Pabloz, Michelle drove in front.

THE POPULAR THEORY
This unconfirmed theory is popular on social media where everyone claims to have inside information even when overseas.

It is said they had a misunderstanding in the nightclub and Michelle stormed out of the bar while Eddie followed her and this developed into a car chase leading to the fatal crash. Under this theory, Michelle was to blame for the tragic accident.

SECOND THEORY
Jori and Michelle’s relationship had become solid and he was providing funding for her clothing business and this enabled her to travel to places like China for stock. Jori took Michelle from dealer, Roland Muchegwa, who is popularly known in social circles as Uncle Roland. Michelle and Uncle Roland have two children together.

This resulted in numerous clashes between Uncle Roland and Jori. At one stage, Jori was attacked with an empty beer bottle at a nightspot while the other clash ended up at Rotten Row courts. In between the clashes between the men, Uncle Roland would brutally attack Michelle over her move. Even at the time of Jori’s death, Uncle Roland was still bitter, FOUR years after Michelle left him.

It is understood that Uncle Roland’s desire to ruin Michelle’s love life actually solidified her affair with Jori who then did all he could to ensure that she was comfortable. The theory even claims that Jori’s wife had accepted Michelle’s presence in their life and as such, their man would even spend nights at Michelle’s home.

Consistent with this theory, it is claimed that Michelle and Jori were in good books as they left Borrowdale and had agreed to use their separate cars to her home. Michelle would use the rear-view mirror to see if Jori was following. She however, lost him near the Women University and made a U-turn only to be met by the tragic crash. Michelle was among the first people at the scene of the accident. This theory clears Michelle of causing the accident.

THIRD THEORY
With Uncle Roland having been in Harare last week, there were those that wanted to implicate him in the accident suggesting that he had followed Jori. However, H-Metro can confirm that Uncle Roland is in South Africa where he went last week on Wednesday. He is now based there although he comes to Harare often.- H-Metro

After Zhuwao Another G-40 Minister Quits Politics

“I go honourably with my head high after 10 years of illustrious service and dedication to my country…”

HARARE – Walter Mzembi was the last Foreign Affairs minister to serve under former president Robert Mugabe.

Although his tenure was brief, for it was during his stint that the Mugabe’s regime fell, it was an event-packed period that has not been recorded.

Our News Editor Gift Phiri had an opportunity to hear these events from the horse’s mouth. Below are excerpts of the interview:

Walter Mzembi

Q: Where were you when the military tanks rolled into Harare? What was your reaction?

A: Before I respond to your questions, let me hasten to say the “first casualty of conflict is truth”. I am hoping this interview can lay to rest the many falsehoods and fake news that have been generated and disseminated around my name and whereabouts in the most recent past, amounting to hate speech! Thank you for the opportunity to set the record straight. Now back to your first question, we were of course in bed at that wee hour but had been kept wide awake by anxiety over the statement by the military and its implications and also queries from the region on what was going on, remember on the night in question I had missed a flight to South Africa, where I had been granted an appointment with the South African Foreign Affairs minister in Pretoria in the morning of the 15th and later a meeting with President (Jacob) Zuma at 6pm in Cape Town as part of my regional diplomatic tour but also as the ex-president’s special envoy. I had just completed a similar assignment in Zambia the previous day, where I had met both the Foreign Affairs minister and President Lungu. So my colleagues in the region were equally anxious. As to our reaction as a family, we stayed on, and only moved into a hotel around 6am, as we were now responding to various messages on the insecurity of Cabinet ministers getting to us from various sources.

Q: Some people suggest you took sanctuary in the Cuban Embassy. Is this correct?

A: We never were visited by the military contrary to falsehoods peddled by social media, and some of my colleagues in government who have been authoritatively peddling lies about my whereabouts and supposed fugitive status. I never left Zimbabwe nor sought sanctuary anywhere including the Cuban Embassy as asserted by some. My immigration and passport records can confirm this, including checking with the said embassies that are clearly irritated by these falsehoods. It’s just malice!

Q: So where did you go?

A: I went to a hotel, and after two days was back at my residence.

Q: Why do you think you were expelled from Zanu PF?

A: Retaliatory action from my colleagues. Remember we were clearly split into two factions. The one with the upper hand expels the other! Those expelling others had been expelled the previous week or so, some childish game of sorts hence the intervention by the military who are stockholders of this party.

Q: In hindsight do you think you did the right thing ?

A: None of us is more righteous than the other, I hope one day there can be an honest stocktaking of actions, and a genuine attempt to heal the party. We have no other home outside Zanu PF, so expelling individuals is not the solution for a mature party such as Zanu PF. You sit down in the true spirit of “Operation Restore Legacy” , and examine the conflict points including generational and ideological misunderstandings and mend the fences, not just physically but mentally.

Q: What do you make of the process used to oust the president?

A: It was unfortunate, what started as a struggle within a struggle of a liberation movement was hijacked by civil society and others and we were unable on our own to sort things out without inviting other interests. Now they talk of going for the kill, and here they refer to Zanu PF, we have to pause and sort things on our own going forward, and “clearly an eye for an eye left the world blind”. This is my cautionary statement to the party.

Q: Do you believe the ex-president was ousted through a coup? Some are calling it a democratic military coup, which seems like an oxymoron.

A: He denied it himself that it was a coup and instructed me in the diplomatic solution I was championing to communicate that to Sadc. Our courts also adjudged that it wasn’t a coup. So it wasn’t a coup but a military arbitration in a party in which the military are stockholders. Don’t look for it anywhere, nor try it elsewhere, you will not find a precedent. It was made in Zimbabwe for Zimbabweans.

Q: You were suspected of being a member of the so-called G40. Is it a correct assertion?

A: No I wasn’t a member of G40 as you know it or as it’s characterised now. I spent my last two years detached from local politics until after the UNWTO General Assembly in Chengndu, China this last September. So my drama in local politics is two months old, with the results you know now.

Q: Do you buy the argument that the ex-first lady had usurped the authority of the ex-president and there were plans afoot to impose a dynasty?

A: That can only be answered by the former president himself.

Q: Have you spoken to the ex-president or former first lady after November the 21st?

A: Yes

Q: Your expulsion also deprived you of a Cabinet post. You have since been replaced by your predecessor who has become your successor. Your comment?

A: No deployment is permanent. The president must be allowed space to choose his own Foreign minister, it’s his prerogative! And we serve at his pleasure. It’s a very sensitive portfolio, requiring absolute trust, and when you are in there you are the last in terms of loyalty to ship out hence my hanging on until “D” Day. I am sure even the new president respects and admires my loyalty, he needs a lot more principled people around him, that’s my prayer.

Q: Would you accept a Cabinet post in President Mnangagwa’s administration?

A: Am I ready to work and contribute in any capacity including as a private citizen? So the answer is yes, that notwithstanding Zimbabwe needs all hands on the deck private and public and it should not just be about Cabinet posts, there are people who have been contributing to the well being of Zimbabwe beyond measure as Private Citizens, in business, academia, religion etc. There is life beyond these deployments, so I will lend my absolute support regardless of nomination for Cabinet and in whatever role.

Q: You have interacted in Cabinet with the new President, what type of man is he?

A: Pragmatic, shrewd and maybe reserved bordering on aloofness, but he certainly has bottled up ideas and refreshing thoughts that are only coming out now, which is natural for an astute politician who was reserving his best for future use and avoiding policy clashes!

Q: Do you think he will revive this shrinking economy?

A: He will lead the revival of the economy only to the extent that we all support him. He has said all the right things so far and is on track. He is carrying the cross as our leader but he needs all of us to achieve his vision and mission for a prosperous Zimbabwe.

Q: Zanu PF has recalled five MPs. Are you confident of retaining your seat?

A: I am ready to surrender my seat if it unites the party more going forward provided its done procedurally. An election is in the horizon and I am not sure what is served by taking away my seat from the electors in Masvingo South Constituency purely out of a decision of a central committee that may be completely disconnected to grassroots feelings on the same. They just sit here in Harare and decide for the people without consulting them.

Q: You went to the National Assembly on Wednesday, and reports suggest you shook hands with the new First Lady. Why did you do that?

A: She is the first lady of Zimbabwe and the shadow of the president inside the House of Assembly. Secondly, circumstances had not permitted me to pay my respects and courtesies nor attend the inauguration ceremony, so it was the cultural and normal thing to do. I am still on standby to extend my congratulations to the president himself too.

Q: Are you pursuing a future in politics?

A: President Mnangagwa was an avid supporter of my UNWTO Campaign, politics cannot only be constituency representative and/ or Executive deployment, both of which I am reconsidering going forward. I am yet to meet my constituency to sound them out on this, but if it’s not Zanu PF representation as predicated by my expulsion from the party, it’s time for a sabbatical. I will lend my support to any Zanu PF cadre nominated by the Party and I hope they can support me in my private life trajectory as well.

Q: There were claims by some war veterans that during the talks between H.E and the generals you acted as the ex-president’s special envoy ostensibly to mobilise regional support for him to dig in. What happened?

A: No, quite to the contrary the traditional itinerary of a new Foreign minister kicks off with regional courtesy calls, starting with Sadc and its dean who happens to be minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa, then it follows the hierarchy of the Sadc Troika which was very relevant at the time, Angola as chair, Zambia, vice chair and Tanzania. The special envoy status is a coveted one, because it allows the visiting minister to engage the host president and share his foreign policy thrust at the highest level in addition to any message one may be delivering at the time from the Head of State. It’s time for a political sabbatical, says Mzembi. So you are not privy to the contents of the special message but should be ready to appraise the host president of issues that may be prompted by him during interaction. So my diplomatic tour was overtaken by events and ostensibly even the special messages because I never embarked on the rest of the tour after Zambia.

Q: You visited Zambia during that interregnum, what was the purpose of your visit?

A: Same objectives as alluded to already, but I came back from Zambia on the evening of the 13th of November, and the mix up of my whereabouts kicked off from there, notwithstanding the fact that I attended the Cabinet session of November 14. Even the reassurance message given to President Lungu that all was well was also overtaken by events thereafter. There was a very naughty string of fake news that sought to bring the integrity of our meeting and President Lungu’s position on Zimbabwe into disrepute. I am glad he shamed the purveyors of these falsehoods by bringing a high powered delegation of three presidents to the inauguration, two of them past Presidents. It was the highest expression of endorsement of President Mnangagwa seen in Zambia as their son too because of shared family links dating back to the liberation struggle. As vice president, he was recently the guest of honour to the class of 1975 law school celebrations , which he was part of at UNZA.

Q: President Lungu later despatched ex-president Kaunda to Harare to lean on the old man. Were you involved in that shuttle diplomacy?

A: We were pleasantly interrupted from a lengthy conversation with former president Mugabe when President Kaunda telephoned announcing his arrival , and he just exclaimed “Oh KK “, and indicated he would call me back. Of course, I was constantly in touch with both the Foreign Affairs minister and President Lungu. It was their own decision. On my earlier visit I had sought to see ex-president Kaunda which I have done before regardless of deployment, because he is my mentor having been partly educated in Zambia myself too. In 2015, he was the Guest of Honour at my firstborn son Komba’s wedding in Lusaka.

Q: To what extent where you involved in the talks?

A: I was in the loop on the Sadc diplomatic solution, and the point person with regards to communication with ex-president Mugabe and the region, and would consult him frequently on direction and vice versa. This in hindsight seemed disconnected to the local mediation effort. The diplomatic solution to be communicated by presidents Zuma and Lourenco of Angola was to deliver the same outcome as the people have now in President Mnangagwa except that it was a sequential one, starting with our Congress endorsing him for presidency of the party in December, and reappointment to vice president in government and then president Mugabe hand holding him to elections in 2018. It was a solution in the interest of healing relations between the two of them and inside the party which has been raven by expulsions and counter expulsions. The mediators are presiding over sister liberation movements and had no interest in an implosion of Zanu PF, contrary to the indifference which was coming from civil society and other political parties who were assisting the  demise of our party in the name of the “Mugabe must go”  mantra . .There is contagion effect on the Region if one of liberation parties is under siege.

Q: When did you sign off as Foreign minister. There are claims you stood with Mugabe, to the end until he capitulated, why and how?

A: Given the diplomatic networking role not known to many, I am sure you appreciate the need for my professional conduct at the time, and why it was necessary to abstain from processes that were taking place in the party and in Parliament, they would have clearly conflicted my role in this whole saga. I chose to stand on principle and the rest is history. All this coordination and mediation work with Sadc happened from my home office, not the Cuban Embassy or any other country as shared at press conferences by comrades who were trying to cash in on my whereabouts and perceived demise for their own sinister interests. I played my anticipated diplomatic role diligently to the end and I do not feel it was an exercise in circumventing a people’s will at all. I go honourably with my head high after 10 years of illustrious service and dedication to my country, and president and I have no regrets in being the last man standing. I was observing my oath of loyalty consistent with the seniority of the office I was holding.

Q: Your final word?

A: Hail the new President, His Excellency Cde ED Mnangagwa! It is time to move on for everyone, time for healing, for forgiveness, time to love, to smile, to laugh , time to live. As in 1980, let’s turn our swords into ploughshares. Let bygones be bygones!- Daily News

Mnangagwa, Chiwenga Who’s Boss?

https://youtu.be/F6CiYDGlPlU?t=4

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson – brimming with all the enthusiasm of a 10 year old stamp collector suddenly coming across a triangular from Tanganyika – was ready to usher Zimbabwe back into the Commonwealth on the back of a military coup in Salisbury, or Harare as it is now known. (Presumably the other 50 or so members of the Commonwealth would do what Bwana Boris told them.)

His Africa Minister Rory Stewart, equally enthusiastic, flew out to Zimbabwe to shake the hand of the Conqueror of Mugabe, holding out the promise of an open cheque book. The US, normally more sensible in these affairs, was also welcoming. A rusty tinpot Marxist lunatic dethroned: anything must be an improvement.

But something went wrong – even before modern history graduate Stewart had time to read  the page on Zimbabwe. What was taken to be a day of joy and freedom, of liberation and release – the crossing of the Jordan – was nothing of the kind. It was from purgatory to purgatory. Nothing has improved. There has just been a change of guard.

The announcement of Mnangagwa’s new cabinet was a slap in the face for all – like the British Foreign Office – who had been led to believe that he was on board to save Zimbabwe – in other words that he realised that he needed Western help to turn around the economy and create jobs.

The new cabinet, packed with contaminated genocidaires from the armed forces and discredited former Mugabe freeloaders, has dashed hopes of economic recovery. We had been led to believe that under the West’s clever Baldrick-type master plan, the eager convert Mnangagwa would embrace the prospect of new money from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. After all, his mob has stolen just about everything available in Zimbabwe.

In reality, he has increased unemployment, sacking the Pschomotor Minister for a start. Just when we needed him. We know from the ground the depths of despair in Zimbabwe. But economic reality will bring down the military regime sooner rather than later.

WATCH: Masiyiwa Mocks Mugabe

Iconic Zimbabwe entreprenuer and businessman Strive Masiyiwa poked fun at ousted president Mugabe during a recent interview is which he was discussing overcoming his business obstacles in Zimbabwe.

Minister Made Actually Worked On Mugabe’s Farms

Norton MP Temba Mliswa lampooned former Agriculture minister Joseph Made saying during his tenure he spent time managing former President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace’s farms instead of inspecting government agricultural projects at different institutions in the country.

Mliswa was contributing to debate on a motion on a report by the Christopher Chitindi-led Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Lands and Agriculture on command agriculture and agricultural colleges on Thursday when he alleged that agricultural colleges failed to perform because they were not properly supported or funded.

“Government had become dysfunctional, and how do you run agricultural training institutions without a board? Made spent time at his farm instead of him spending time doing his ministerial mandate,” Mliswa said.

“All he did was to go to Gushungo Dairies with foreigners, showing them Mazowe with the former First Lady Grace (Mugabe), but we never saw him going to tertiary institutions. I think his job was to work for the First Family,” he said.

Mliswa said if command agriculture is to succeed, then every Zimbabwean regardless of colour or political affiliation should benefit and get inputs from the programme.

While presenting the committee report, Chitindi said farmers had experienced problems such as late distribution of inputs, while others had to travel long distances to collect their inputs.

“For example, Norton farmers collected their inputs from Chegutu, while Umzingwane farmers collected inputs from Filabusi and Gwanda.

“There was also a negative perception on command agriculture with one ward in Kwekwe, where only three people took up the programme, while others said they feared joining it because of the consequences that will be meted by the military if they failed to deliver,” he said.

Chitindi said the name “command” had negative connotations to farmers, who thought that it was a military programme.

Southerton MP, Gift Chimanikire (MDC-T) said there is need for farmer training before people are given huge tracts of land to do farming.

He said the ruling party should desist from selective distribution of farm inputs, where opposition supporters were excluded from the presidential input scheme or command agriculture.

Uzumba MP, Simbaneuta Mudarikwa (Zanu PF) said there is need to ensure fertilisers and herbicides are affordable. He said it is imperative for the government to come up with a policy to ensure supermarkets get their vegetable supplies from local farmers.

Kuwadzana East MP, Nelson Chamisa (MDC-T) said if Zimbabwe is to improve in farming and restore its lost glory as the bread basket of Africa, there is need to mechanise even peasant farming so that rural farmers use modern equipment to also increase their yields. Newsday

The Mugabe Family Had Ditched Grace Already

Relatives of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe have reportedly claimed that they cut ties with their daughter-in-law Grace Mugabe more than two years ago.According to Voice of America (VOA), the Mugabe clan accused Grace of being “disrespectful to family elders, showing off and sowing seeds of disharmony within the family”.Mugabe’s uncle Ben Matibiri claimed that Grace belittled everyone in the Mugabe family “as she tried to borrow powers at every opportunity”. This, he said was the complete opposite of Mugabe’s first wife, the late Sally Hefron Mugabe, whom he described as a “great daughter” to the family.

This came as reports over the weekend alleged that Grace was complaining about how her family, businesses and allies were being treated following the fall of her ageing husband.

According to The Zimbabwe Independent, although the Mugabes seemed to be quiet in the public domain, the former first lady had been complaining behind-the-scenes about how her family and the families of her allies’ were being treated.

Grace had been complaining to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander Constantino Chiwenga through mediators, Catholic cleric Father Fidelis Mukonori and former Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor Gideon Gono, the report said.

Grace complained about threats to her businesses and property, citing the terms of the agreement secretly reached as part of the deal for Mugabe to resign.- News24

Sir Mbavha Wicknell Escapes To Britain

Staff Reporter| Chikuribi inmate (2005 – 2008) Wicknell Chivayo has escaped to the United Kingdom.

ZimEye.com can reveal Wicknell was on Monday morning spotted near Bryanston, South England.

A geo tracker reveals his exact physical location in the South of England.

The development comes as Chivayo accidentally revealed that he has externalised an untold lumpsum of money which was meant for the Gwanda Solar project. The state media piece has narrated that over $3 billion has been illegally taken out of the country.

When he shot a LIVE video making the confession last week, Chivayo quickly deleted the footage after abruptly ending the LIVE filming.

https://youtu.be/p-T_CAmrwP4

Of the $3 billion, about $1,8 billion was shipped out illegally while $1,2 billion was expatriated through service fees, management fees, technical fees and royalties, according to sources close to the official investigations. But there are concerns that even the legal flow of funds out of the country is susceptible to manipulation as companies can misinvoice particularly for services which are available in the country.

This comes as deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Dr Khupikile Mlambo said recently that Zimbabwe lost an average of $150 million every month in 2015 to illicit financial flows.

Documents gleaned by Business Weekly showed that a number of politicians, business tycoons and related companies (names withheld to allow investigations to continue) were among the long list of individuals suspected to be shipping out cash through various machinations. Sources said the RBZ was closely monitoring people, companies and organisations that have made suspicious transactions such as cash deposits (in neighbouring countries), misinvoicing and transfer pricing.

(Then) Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa recently told Parliament, Government was investigating individuals and corporates that are externalising foreign currency. Minister Chinamasa singled out externalisation and low exports as the major factors behind the current cash shortages.

The firms that have shipped out funds, through legal channels, mainly to Mauritius and the Far East, to pay various fees have also been put under surveillance. The companies on the central bank’s radar include those in the telecommunications industry. Sources said one of the companies had already salted away $60 million in the year to May 2017.

Mnangagwa On Jimila | LATEST

By Paul Nyathi| President Emerson Mnangagwa has declared the road accident in which 21 people were killed in Jimila village of Tsholotsho a state of national disaster.

The announcement, which was made through the director of the Civil Protection Unit, Mr Nathan Nkomo, is in terms of Section 27(1) of the Civil Protection Act.

The status allows the state to mobilise resources to assist the injured and bereaved families with burial arrangements.

The accident occurred on Saturday at around 4pm at the 35km peg along the Tsholotsho-Sipepa Road just under half a kilometre to their destination in Jimila Centre.

The truck was carrying 71 people and 17 are still admitted in hospitals in Bulawayo with 2 of them battling for life in the ICU at Mpilo Hospital. 11 others are still at Tsholotsho Hospital in a stable condition while the rest were treated and discharged.

The victims were all members of a Ministry of Health and Child Care malaria control programme team that was doing duty in Matabeleland North Province.

Survivors accused the driver who is amongst the seriously injured of drinking and speeding.

National police spokesperson Chief Superintended Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident and said investigations were underway.

“Police would like to confirm the death of 21 people who were killed in a road accident that occurred in Tsholotsho.

“The accident occurred after the driver of a Nissan UD truck that was travelling to Tsholotsho with 69 passengers on board failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the vehicle, which veered off to the right and overturned several times before landing on its roof,” he said.

“Fifteen people died on the spot, while six others died on admission at Tsholotsho District Hospital,” he said.

Chief Supt Nyathi said bodies of the deceased were taken to Mpilo Central Hospital mortuary, while the injured were taken to Mpilo Central Hospital and United Bulawayo Hospitals.

“Names of the deceased will be released in due course,” he said.

Government has already started working on modalities to give State assistance to the bereaved families for them to give their loved ones a decent burial.

The injured will also get government assistance.

Jonathan Moyo Refuses to Recognise Similarities Between Mnangagwa Mugabe!

By Nomazulu Thata| Jonathan Moyo sees an iconic leader in Robert Mugabe: we see a cruel fuehrer in Robert Mugabe who ruled Zimbabwe with an iron fist. Jonathan sees a great statesman in Robert Mugabe, we see a ruler who by chance of history escaped indictment in the international courts of law: the genocide and crimes against humanity he and his henchmen committed to the people of Zimbabwe: were perpetrated on its innocent citizens.

Jonathan Moyo is proud to have stood by Robert Mugabe until his last days of his presidency; but we see and reflect on our wasted lives that were lost in foreign lands because we could not return home and live decent lives in our own country of birth. Jonathan Moyo sees the angel Gabriel in Robert Mugabe, we see a crude, ruthless, scornful, destroyer of jewel of Africa, selfish persona who has known only himself and his immediate family and never beyond. Jonathan Moyo sees a Gugurahundist in Mnangagwa and Chiwenga only; we see all those who were in Zanu PF cabinet in 1980 as the architectures of Mathebeleland and Midlands’s genocide including Enos Nkala.

Since day one of Robert Mugabe’s rule, there has never been democracy per se in that country. What democracy in Zimbabwe is political scientist Jonathan Moyo talking about? We know evidently that Mugabe wanted Zimbabwe to be a one-party-state under his rule; he achieved this with an iron fist, purged our President Joshua Nkomo and Zapu members and supporters to the margins of extinction. Curiously Jonathan Moyo is a political scientist; he should know better than all of us the cruel regime of Zanu PF that destroyed his father’s homestead together with many other families in Tsholotsho North and many parts of Mathebeleland North and South and Midlands by Robert Mugabe’s Fifth Brigade. Mathebeleland is littered with shallow graves that can surface anytime if there we heavy rains this time round.
We are not buying your painting of Mnangagwa and Chiwenga as the only Gugurahundi murderers: the whole cabinet of the early independence are the Gugurahundists: dear Jonathan Moyo; the entire Zanu Elite of 1979 Grand Plan, hard-chore criminal cabal were murderers; we know them all by names dead or alive. Nothing whatsoever will convince us that Mugabe, Professor Moyo’s iconic leader is to be overlooked in your ranting, at best please don’t take the peoples of Zimbabwe for fools. We see once more how Gugurahundi atrocities are being romped in to re-invent Jonathan’s political life-line. Jonathan Moyo is complicit of the human rights atrocities that took place in Zimbabwe after the Millennium.

When Jonathan Moyo left Zimbabwe after the coup, having been holed up in the Mugabe Blue Roof: he paid tribute to Mugabe, gave accolades curiously to a Gugurahundist who murdered his father. By his own admission, Jonathan proudly served in Mugabe’s government to the last day: Before he left the country who knows perhaps for good; he praises the chief murderer who eliminated his father u Baba u Mlevu. How do we understand this as logic? It defeats all logic, there is no ethic, no values, no self respect, no respect for the family Mlevu; his father especially, those silent graves that can no longer speak for themselves, at worst it’s dirty game of politics, living by the day as long the means met the ends, Jonathan “ate from within.” Jonathan is coming back to reinvent himself using Gugurahundi genocide to evoke to those emotions from Mathebelelands and Midlands once more to support him.

Here are Jonathan Moyo’s accolades to Bob verbatim: “There’ll never be anyone like CDE Robert Gabriel Mugabe. I’m proud that I stood with & by this iconic leader during the trying moments of the last days of his presidency. Democracy requires politics to lead the gun!” This is the most nauseating statement I have ever heard! It also gave me a chill in my spine. It must have been absolute desperation to have sunk this low.

If most people were stupid, we were going to believe these words from Jonathan Moyo, those hollow words that signify nothing. In retrospect: Former president of Zimbabwe Robert Gabriel was architecture of Gugurahundi atrocities of the early 1983 to 1987, implemented bloody farm invasions in year 2000, those vicious beatings of farm workers, imprisonment of some of them on spurious and fallacious charges and are sent to filthy Chikurubi jails, this is a Mugabe system that Jonathan Moyo served, a government that set farm workers’ homes alight with petrol bombs, some of them died brutal deaths in those burning houses. All these atrocities do not shock Jonathan Moyo’s conscience but is quick to inform us about how the army coup vandalized his home during the “operation restoring legacy,” there was a child of the age of 12 years who endured those explosions in his home, he said.

Operation Murambatsvina made almost a million people homeless, thousands of families were humiliated, elderly people, and the chronically ill citizen, child-headed families, and women headed families were psychologically traumatized and left destitute in the streets. Jonathan Moyo was part of Zanu PF government then; did it ever shock his conscience? We wonder still if all that transpired during those dark days of Mugabe rule does shock his conscience. Again with the assistance of the army Zanu PF ran a bloody general election in 2008 that saw thousands being maimed, raped, homes set on fire and people of all ages brutally killed by the same government he served until it was deposed militarily on the 15th of November 2017.

Our consciences were shocked when we heard that the army of Chiwenga vandalized your home that had women and children and the youngest was 12 years! If at all you are incarcerated Jonathan Moyo, we demand your release and you are tried under the law of the land and not in army barracks. You must be treated in accordance with the Geneva Convention (III) relative to the treatment of prisoners of war:
a) violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture;
(b) taking of hostages;
(c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment;
(d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.
(2) The wounded and sick shall be collected and cared for.
An impartial humanitarian body, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, may offer its services to the Parties to the
conflict. (Taken from International Committee Red-Cross: Geneva)
We remember the sick comments you made when Itai Dzamara was abducted, disappeared from us without any trace. I am sure you know now how Mrs. Dzamara feels to live without a husband and father to her children. We wonder still how do you feel now, we really do not know where you are and we are concerned together with Kasukuwere? There are moments we feel your Titter was hacked by the powers that be; someone is acting “Baba Jukwa” on you. You must be somewhere out of reach!!!! We must be forgiven if it’s the opposite!!!!
When you became minister, Jonathan Moyo in Mugabe’s cabinet you are the one who re-introduced POSA/AIPPA laws that crushed basic human rights. Those laws were an infringement to the freedom and rights of our nation, stifled civil liberties and people’s freedom of expression. Those are pieces of legislation that have no place in democratic governance. Curiously it’s you Jonathan Moyo who is telling us that DEMOCRACY REQUIRES POLITICS TO LEAD THE GUN! Now that you are now in the same position like all of us mortals you appreciate the freedom of speech, conscience and the fundamental civil rights and liberties of citizens of this great Zimbabwe. It is those POSA/AIPPA laws that led to the disappearance of our son Itai Dzamara.
The people of Zimbabwe do not forget these atrocities committed on its citizens as they will linger in our history books forever until we get the justice we want, we demand it and we shall get. It is sheer historical coincidence that all tribes and races in Zimbabwe were affected one way or another in the Zanu PF’s Mugabe rule. We shall then collectively claim justice in reference to all incidences of genocide and crimes against humanity that the country had to endure since 1980 to this day. By so doing, we shall be able to say: Genocide and crimes against humanity happened yes but NEVER AGAIN in this great land of our mothers and fathers. We say no to conflicts leading to genocide, we say no to tribalism of all kinds, we say no military coup and rule as it serves the party Zanu PF faction and not the people of Zimbabwe.

Of those who perished in the genocide atrocities was his father: Mr. Mlevu. It is inconceivable how Jonathan Moyo could see a murderer in Mnangagwa and omits to see equally the murder intentions in Robert Mugabe. Robert Mugabe was the mastermind of Gugurahundi atrocities. We were wholly naive to think that Jonathan was destroying Zanu PF from within; as a matter of fact Jonathan Moyo was eating from within. Jonathan Moyo thought about his stomach more than about his own dead father who was brutally killed in the genocide of the early independence.

This genocide will never escape our history unresolved. All those who were involves in the

Pastor Mawarire: I Have Not Received Money From Mnangagwa, “I Remain Committed Through My Own Resources”

Evan Mawarire  – FILE

Staff Reporter| ThisFlag pastor Evan Mawarire yesterday responded to criticism by people who have alleged that he has received money from President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mawarire was reacting on his article that has his full recorded announcement to Zimbabweans which was published on ZimEye.com. He had submitted his recorded speech late Friday night during the time when Zimbabweans were grovelling in anger against Emmerson Mnangagwa. The article did not have either mention or inference of the alleged Mnangagwa connection, but Mawarire wrote out his new rebuttal saying he has not received any resources from Mnangagwa.

“I remain committed through my own resources to standing up for what is right for Zimbabwe,” he wrote.

Many Zimbabweans feel that contrary to Mawarire’S claims, Mnangagwa as a President is nothing different from the former Head Of State Mugabe for the nation and the removal of Mugabe was just purely a cosmetic Lacoste faction affair which was accomplished by the army for their own agenda and purposes, nothing to with the povo. The povo were only used for a plastic demonstration to sanitize the coup last month. But Mawarire addresses the general public claiming that they are the ones who removed Mugabe and installed the Emmerson Mnangagwa led government.

“…How dare we believe in every voice that was raised… kushaiwa hope(sleep), after we have been able to change the government and build something new, they said we couldn’t do anything wrong, but we proved them wrong…,” says Mawarire in the below –

Bhasikiti and Makova Back in ZANU PF

By Paul Nyathi| Zimbabwe People First leaders Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and Retired Colonel Cladious Makova have officially declared going back to ZANU PF.

The two who were dismissed from the party in 2014 after being accused of standing against former President Robert Mugabe, presented themselves as prodigal sons at the ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting on Sunday.

https://youtu.be/ilVYuhoSR3s?t=12m7s

Bhasikiti and Makova have been senior leaders of the ZANU PF splinter party ZimPF which is driven by two former ZANU PF elders Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo.

They were also senior officials in ZimPF under the leadership of Joice Mujuru before the party split and Mujuru founded the National People’s Party.

Presenting themselves to the party members, the two claimed that they want back in the “revived party after the axing of Mugabe as party leader” by the Central Committee of the party.

According to them Mugabe was the reason behind their being out of the party and now wish to be accepted back since he is no longer there.

“We were victims of Robert Mugabe who never wanted to be told to retire but would rather dismiss anyone who would raise the matter,” said Bhasikiti.

“ZANU PF has always been our home, we do not have any other home and we want to come back home,” said Makova.

The provincial committee accepted the two’s request to be accepted back into the party and will be seconding a recommendation for them to be admitted back in the party to the Central Committee.

Mapfumo: I Fought In The War But Zim Govt Dishes A Farm To A Jamaican Musician

By Simba Chikanza| Chimurenga musician, Thomas Mapfumo yesterday revealed of his frustration on how the ZANU PF government has ignored his role as a freedom fighter and rushed to give a farm to a foreigner, a Jamaican musician.

Mapfumo is not alone in this treatment and the late Cde Chinx Chingaira, another musician was also neglected.

During the liberation struggle, Mapfumo was imprisoned by the Ian Smith government for his role of fighting and supporting the war against the white regime. But 38 years later, Mapfumo has been given nothing and ZANU PF says he is not a war veteran simply because he did not hold guns.

Mnangagwa Ascendancy: Traditional Leaders Say Opposition Members Can Now Obtain Proof Of Residence Letters Freely

Terrence Mawawa, Zaka| Following the inauguration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa last week, traditional leaders have shifted their stance against perceived members of opposition parties.

Traditional leaders here concurred that proof of residence letters would be issued to villagers regardless of political background.

The Traditional leaders in collaboration with Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD) have called on local villagers to brace themselves for the mobile voter registration exercise. Zaka District falls under the fourth phase of the Zimbabwe Election Commission (ZEC) Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) blitz which runs from December 4-19.

Speaking at a voter education and mobilization campaign programme facilitated by COTRAD and ZEC last week, traditional leaders stated that all villagers were eligible to obtain proof of residence documents to enable them to register to vote in next year’s crucial polls.

COTRAD also encouraged villagers to embrace the mobile voter registration process to acquire national identity cards and birth certificates.
The programme commenced on November 21 in Zaka.

“As community voter mobilizers we appeal to all citizens to obtain the relevant identity documents,” said Flora Nyamunda of Zaka Central.

Local villagers have expressed gratitude at the fact that proof residence letters are being issued objectively and transparently.

Elections in Zimbabwe have been marred by voter illiteracy, violence and intimidation of perceived opposition supporters.

COTRAD Community mobilizers have appealed to ZEC to provide comprehensive voter education programmes. Such programmes will target women, youth, people with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups.

Section 40B of the Electoral Act stipulates that ZEC should embark on voter education programmes in an accurate manner.

Did Nengomasha Neglect His Child?

Former Warriors midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha is to stand court while accused of neglecting his 8 year old by his ex-wife Farai Victoria Mlotshwa.

The woman, Mlotshwa said she has been living with the child after the couple’s divorce in December 2011.

The latest report covered by Newsday says Nengomasha has access to the child on weekends, holidays and upon arrangements with his ex-wife.

He was ordered by a court to pay maintenance of $50 per month. Mlotshwa argues that Nengomasha has not communicated with her or their child in the last two years which has prompted he to seek sole guardianship of the child. Said Mlotshwa:

Despite the terms of the aforementioned divorce order, first respondent (Nengomasha) has not communicated with me or the minor child in any manner for approximately two years. It is my belief that first respondent’s conduct or lack of it, thereof, is tantamount to desertion and/or abandonment of the minor child. Given the first respondent’s behaviour, I submit that it is in the best interests of the minor child that guardianship should vest in me and that I be appointed as her sole legal guardian, who can formally exercise guardianship duties and rights, in the continued absence of the first respondent.

The matter is yet to be heard.

Heavy Army Tanks Invade Harare Just For Chombo, Chipanga And Hama, How?

By Farai D Hove| Army tanks and guns could not have invaded the capital city, Harare last month just to get former Finance Minister Ignatius Chombo, and the two youths Kudzanayi Chipanga and Innocent Hamandishe. There have to be many other criminals still out there, ZANU PF Chairman for UK Nick Mangwana says.

“Operation Restore Legacy’s pretext was that it was “going against criminals” surrounding RGM. Surely that cannot start and end with Chombo, Hamandishe & Chipanga.

“Tanks did not roll in the street for those 3 people. We need more to restore confidence,” he wrote on his twitter portal at the weekend.

Last month the army took over control of government in a bloodless coup as they announced that they are not targeting President Robert Mugabe and his family, but “criminals around him” who are causing much suffering to the nation.

Their program was dubbed Operation Restore Legacy and has since seen pale-scenes of Chombo and the two youth leaders being paraded before cameras as they move in and out of court on a string of several charges ranging from corruption and abused of office, to more the serious ones of kidnapping.

But there are many ZANU PF members who were positioned around the former First Family who were involved in dodgy activities one of them being Wicknel Chivayo a well known fraudster who became instantly rich from a suspicious $5million tender awarded him more than two years ago whose works are to date no where near to commencing.

Who else should the authorities target?

Below is the latest program discussing the Chivayo matter:

Mnangagwa Swears In New Ministers Today

State Media – Newly-appointed Cabinet ministers will take their oath of office before President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House in Harare today. President Mnangagwa last week announced a 22-member Cabinet to run Government business until harmonised elections next year.

In a statement on Saturday, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, said the swearing-in ceremony starts at 9am.

“Cabinet ministers are invited to State House for the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for 0900hrs, 4th December, 2017,” reads the statement.

The invitation was also extended to Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Deputy Ministers.

However, there have been adjustments to the original list of Cabinet ministers that was announced on Thursday last week in order “to ensure compliance with the Constitution and considerations of gender, demography and special needs”.

Cde Lazarus Dokora, who had been appointed Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, was dropped and replaced by his former deputy, Professor Paul Mavima.
Goromonzi West legislator Mrs Petronella Kagonye becomes the new Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, taking over from Professor Clever Nyathi, who becomes Special Advisor on National Peace and Reconciliation.

Mrs Kagonye was formerly the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development before she was fired in December 2014.
President Mnangagwa also brought in two other special advisors to the President — Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa and Cde Joshua Teke Malinga (Disability Issues).

Cde Victor Matemadanda, who was initially designated as Deputy Minister for Defence, Security and War Veterans, has been reassigned to lead the ZANU-PF commissariat.

He replaces the sacked Mr Saviour Kasukuwere. Similarly, Cde Pupurai Togarepi will no longer be taking up the post of Deputy Minister for Women and Youth Affairs but will concentrate on his role as ZANU-PF Secretary for Youth Affairs, a position that was previously held by the embattled Kudzanayi Chipanga.

Some of the ministers-designate did not represent parliamentary constituencies as required under Section 104(3) of the Constitution.

These are Air Marshal Perrance Shiri, Cde July Moyo, Major-General Sibusiso Moyo, Ambassador Mutsvangwa, Prof Amon Murwira, Mr Winston Chitando, Cde Matemadanda, Professor Clever Nyathi and Cde Pupurai Togarepi.

Presidential spokesperson Mr George Charamba highlighted last week that President Mnangagwa was alive to the constitutional requirement for him to appoint only up to five Cabinet ministers from outside Parliament.

The new team will have its work cut out as it needs to deal with the current economic challenges.

The 2018 National Budget, which is expected to be presented by Finance and Economic Planning Minister Mr Patrick Chinamasa, is tentatively scheduled for Thursday.

In his inauguration speech on November 24, President Mnangagwa said the country’s economic recovery would be predicated on agricultural performance.

“Our economic policy will be predicated on agriculture, which is the mainstay, and on creating conditions for an investment-led economic recovery that puts a premium on job creation.

“Key choices will have to be made to attract foreign direct investment to tackle high levels of unemployment while transforming our economy towards the tertiary,” he said.

Already, Government has given an ultimatum to individuals and corporates who externalised money and other assets to bring them back.
The amnesty will run until February 28.-state media

Chombo Asks Mnangagwa For A Job

The humiliated former Finance Minister Ignatius Chombo has written to President Emmerson Mnangagwa speaking among other things about job prospects.

Chombo wrote a short letter to Mnangagwa saying he wises to serve him in any capacity he deems fit.

“I saw your inauguration as the second Executive President of the Republic of Zimbabwe with pride and contentment, especially after the goings on in both the party and Government during the last six weeks.

“I wish I could attend but I couldn’t because I am in hospital for some health problems that doctors are attending to. I missed all recently held meetings because I was away, learning some few hard lessons.

“I wish to heartily congratulate you for your elevation to the position of President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, as well as the First Secretary of our beloved revolutionary party Zanu-PF,” he said.

Chombo continued saying he will support Mnangagwa.

“May God give you strength and guidance as you lead us into the future. You have my full support and loyalty in equal measure as I served the former President R.G. Mugabe during his tenure in office.

“I am available to serve you in any capacity as you deem fit. Once again, I wish you all the greatest good and may God bless you ever more,” he said. – state media

Senior Education Officer Demands Sex From Female Teachers To Facilitate Transfers – REPORT

Terrence Mawawa | A senior government official in Binga District has been accused of demanding sexual favours from female teachers intending to transfer from the remote area.

Binga District Schools Inspector, Masungo has been accused of demanding bribes to facilitate transfers.

“He has multiple affairs with female teachers and he is very corrupt.

Female teachers who do give in to his sexual demands will not obtain get transfer documents.

There are numerous complaints about his conduct from female teachers- including married women.

It is a very sad situation and we hope this man will be probed as soon as possible
,” said a source in Binga.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe Secretary General Robson Chere told ZimEye.com he had the report on his desk and investigations were in progress.

“The issue has been brought to our attention and we encourage all victims to come forward and furnish us with information so that we can deal with these senior officers in the education system who want to take advantage of the vulnerability of female rural teachers to abuse them, ” said Chere.

Zimbabwe Can Be As Prosperous As Singapore, Says Gono – Not with “EDNomics”

By Wilbert Mukori| zsdemocrats.blogspot.co.uk|  We all welcome praise but not from every quarter because praise from certain quarters is but a curse. Here is a typical example of praise from the wrong quarter.

indepth…Wilbert Mukori

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration speech was in a class of its own in terms of vision, strategy and content,” started an article by Dr Gideon Gono.

Nonsense! President Mnangagwa’s inauguration speech was one of the worse speeches in human history it lacked any cohesion and was full of contradiction. With Zimbabwe in total economic meltdown with unemployment a nauseating 90% and 72.3% of the people living on US$ 1.00 or less per day; even he could not deny the country was in a mess due to “errors of commission or omission”.

“I implore you all to declare that NEVER AGAIN should the circumstances that have put Zimbabwe in an unfavourable position be allowed to recur or overshadow its prospects. We must work together, you, me, all of us who make up this Nation,” said Mnangagwa, in a determined effort to break from the past.

“This is a formidable head-start we draw from our past, a plinth upon which to build developments in the present and to erect hopes for the future,” he continued, clearly being dragged back into the past as if by some invisible dark force.

“Fellow Zimbabweans, as we chart our way forward, we must accept that our challenges as a nation emanate in part from the manner in which we have managed our politics, both nationally and internationally, leading to circumstances in which our country has undeservedly been perceived or classified as a pariah State.” The dark force had won.

Of course, Zimbabwe is a pariah State ruled by incompetent, corrupt, vote rigging and murderous thugs whose greed for absolute power and the influence and wealth it brings is insatiable. All President Mnangagwa has done so far is pay lip service to “democracy” and “new era” but failed has failed to do anything to show his willingness to implement the democratic reforms.

Former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, among other International leaders, reminded President Mnangagwa of the need to ensure next year’s elections are free, fair and credible. They can see that Zanu PF has changed its figure head but otherwise nothing else has changed. They are concerned it is business as usual with the pariah State!

President Mnangagwa’s recent cabinet appointments is full of individuals who believe that those who fought in the liberation war are the only one fit to rule Zimbabwe, hence the reason why they have a veto whilst the rest of us have a vote! The cabinet is now dominated by the individuals who have been central to the establishment and retaining of the de facto one-party state dictatorship that has ridden roughshod over the people’s freedoms and basic human rights including the right to free and fair election and even the right to life itself.

The right, not privilege, of every citizen to a meaningful say in the governance of the country is at the very heart of good governance because it is the only effective way of holding the governing accountable to the governed. If the ruled cannot dismiss, which is what a meaningful vote does, the rulers then what else is there to stop the latter doing as they please?

The root cause of Zimbabwe’s seemingly intractable political chaos and economic meltdown can all be trace back to the nation’s failure to reform Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs from office even when the nation had the overwhelming evidence the regime was corrupt, incompetent and oppressive. The greatest “error of commission and omission” Zimbabwe has made repeatedly in the last 37 years was its failure to hold free, fair and credible elections.

Zimbabwe will accomplish nothing, I repeat, nothing of any substance until we hold free and fair elections and end this foolishness of those in power rigging elections to extend their stay in power.

There is nothing in President Mnangagwa’s speech or actions since his swearing in that would make anyone believe he going to embrace democratic change. Only an idiot can see vision where there is no such thing!

“The President showed a clear, firm grasp of economics with his dose of what I would call “EDNomics”, proudly showing the world that here is a new Zimbabwe that is ready and open for business,” continue Dr Gideon Gono.

What “new Zimbabwe” is he wittering about? No one with even half a brain would be fooled into believe Zimbabwe has lost its pariah state status just by removing one dictator and replacing him with another. The real world works on well-established and understood economic principles grounded on political stability and not the usual voodoo economics formulated by same corrupt and incompetent political thugs of yesterday.

“I particularly liked the Dengism philosophy which he merged with his appeal to investors to come from all corners of the world,” came the EDNomic explaination .

“Now that is pragmatism in the mould of China’s former leader, Deng Xiaoping, who upon assuming leadership of China in the 1970s declared: “I do not care the colour of the cat, black or white … so long as it catches mice!”

“China’s illustrious growth today owes its genesis and greatness to that statement.

“I was particularly pleased, too, that the President mentioned special economic zones, promising to accelerate their establishment countrywide “in order to attract investment and generate increased exports, jobs and stimulate economic growth”.

“That statement alone, together with everything else he said, will get this economy flying to double digit growth rates with potential to propel this country to the levels of the likes of Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Korea and others in a very short space of time given our natural resources and literacy levels.”

Somethings never change! Mugabe appointed Gono the Czar of Zimbabwe’s economic zones, part of the regime’s ZimAsset policy which was supposed to create 2.2 million new jobs but only created two jobs for Mugabe’s daughter and her husband. The Zanu PF’s corrupt and incompetent fat cats have not caught any mice for 37 years and they are not going to catch any.

Talk of Zanu PF’s corrupt and incompetent fat cats, Gideon Gono is one of the heavy weights. Gono will be remembered as the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor who presided over the country money printing crazy fuelling inflation to 500 billion per cent. Gono and his Zanu PF ruling elite made huge fortunes but at the cost of bankrupting the nation. Gonomics!

“What I’m saying is that it is not just the economic issues that I and many others listened to, but also, the political and social dimensions of the President’s speech,” continued the shameless cannery singing for its supper.

“I’m sure even President Mugabe himself must have been very proud of his mentee and successor regardless of the circumstances. I know he was.

“I particularly like the new President’s brand of EDNomics, EDPolitics and EDPlomacy.”

Take it ease of the sauce governor; President Mnangagwa knows Mugabe appointed you Czar of the Special Economic Zones and you are desperate to hold on to your post.

Singapore, South Korea, etc. have all prospered because the hold free, fair and credible elections which have forced each successive government to produce sound economic policies. Zimbabwe has the potential to be as prosperous as Singapore but has, instead, sunk to the bottom. We are the poorest nation on earth! All because we are stuck with this Zanu PF regime with its voodoo Gonomics or EDNomics for 37 years.

If Zimbabwe fails to hold free, fair and credible elections next year; this is a certainty, given the elections will be held with not even one democratic reform in place; the country will still be a pariah State. A pariah Zimbabwe pursuing the same Gonomics renamed EDNomics of the last 37 years will not deliver the economic recovery the nation is dying for. Never!

Mutsvangwa: Give President Mnangagwa Some Time

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s special advisor Christopher Mutsvangwa has said Zimbabweans should give President Emmerson Mnangagwa time to outline his economic recovery policies on which he should then be judged.

Attacks on the President, who is barely 10 days in office, were premature and unfair, he said.President Mnangagwa was sworn in on November 24 as the country’s second Executive President following a dramatic end to former President Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule.

“Leave our President alone. Give him a chance. He means well for Zimbabwe and the people of Zimbabwe are solidly behind him. Please do not try him before he has even started. Don’t condemn him before he has even started,” said Mutsvangwa during an address to the Mashonaland West provincial coordinating committee meeting yesterday.

Mutsvangwa, who has been nominated as Special Advisor to the President, said President Mnangagwa’s main focus would be reviving a stricken economy.

Blocking President Mnangagwa from selecting people of his choice proved to be the deal breaker, said Mu- tsvangwa.

He is being judged in 37 hours more than someone who has been in power for 37 years.”-state media
