By A Correspondent- The City of Kwekwe has a new mayor and deputy after Councillor Angeline Kasipo and her deputy Melody Chingarande both MDC Alliance were recalled last month by the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T.
Ward 2 Councillor Future Titora was elected the new Kwekwe mayor while her Ward 3 counterpart Pikurai Msipha was elected deputy at a special full council meeting held in the council chambers on Thursday.
Chingarande was recalled days after being elected to replace the late Shadreck Tobaiwa who succumbed to cancer.
Cllr Titora garnered six votes to narrowly beat Ward 7 councillor Charles Juta who had four votes in the second round after the first round of voting resulted in a stalemate after each received five votes.
Cllr Msipha also won by the same number of votes and in a similar fashion to beat Joshua Tinago.
In her acceptance speech, newly elected Mayor Titora said she will work hard to develop the city. She said:
I pledge to play the oversight role as expected of us and complement management efforts to develop our city.
I urge all councillors to stop bickering and put differences aside as we work towards achieving vision 2030.
Kwekwe District Development Coordinator Fortune Mpungu who presided over the election of the mayor said service delivery and implementation of the devolution agenda should come first.
Kwekwe City had 14 councillors but only 10 are left after the death of Tobaiwa and the recalling of Kasipo, Chingarande and Ward 12 councillor Washington Moyo.
Of the 10, nine were elected on an MDC Alliance ticket and one was sponsored by the ruling ZANU PF party.
By A Correspondent- A group of lawyers, going by the moniker Anti-COVID Vaccines, has initiated moves to sue government, churches and employers over compulsory vaccination of employees and congregants.
The lawyers have started circulating a petition to be signed by disgruntled workers and congregants, in support of the legal action.
This followed recent pronouncement that churches would only open to vaccinated congregants.
Recently, the Public Service Commission (PSC) issued a circular barring unvaccinated government workers from physically reporting for work or board PSC buses.
Several private firms and State institutions, including universities, are reportedly implementing a similar policy, forcing employees to get inoculated or risk forced leave.
Some church leaders have been arrested for allowing unvaccinated congregants to attend services in church.
One of the lawyers behind the campaign, Obert Kondongwe yesterday said there was no law in Zimbabwe which made vaccination compulsory despite the health benefits likely to be derived from the exercise.
“It must be noted from the onset that there is no law in Zimbabwe which makes vaccination mandatory. As such, there is no criminal law which penalises church gatherings of unvaccinated congregants. It is trite that each person, having fully considered the implications and effects of vaccination, is expected to make a personal decision on whether or not to get vaccinated and even to make a personal decision regarding the timing of such vaccination,” Kondongwe said.
“The practice of obliging anyone to get vaccinated constitutes an infringement of rights and freedoms contained in the Constitution under sections 51, 52, 56, 58, 60 and 65.”
Kondongwe added: “It is common cause that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land. Section 44 of the Constitution provides that the State and every person, including juristic persons, and every institution and agency of the government at every level must respect, protect, promote, and fulfil the rights and freedoms set out in chapter 4 of the Constitution.”
The lawyers accused employers of invading workers’ privacy contrary to what is enshrined in section 51 of the Constitution by insisting on COVID-19 vaccination certificates.
They added that the vaccines were still experimental and according to section 52(c) of the Constitution, citizens had a right not to be subjected to medical or scientific experiments without their consent.
“Section 58 gives everyone the right to freedom of assembly and association. Unvaccinated congregants must still enjoy their freedom to assemble as much as the vaccinated,” the petition read.
The lawyers said fair labour practices did not impose mandatory vaccination as a condition for employment.
“This is more so because it appears that employers are only barring unvaccinated employees and not customers. It is also quite clear that a majority of workers are not yet vaccinated and a sudden and unregulated imposition of mandatory vaccination will lead to massive job losses that will have far reaching consequences on the economy,” the petition further read.
By A Correspondent- Government has imported adequate vehicle number plates to clear the current backlog while modalities for local production are being worked out.
Responding to legislators during Wednesday’s Parliamentary debate, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Honourable Felix Mhona indicated that adequate number plates have been imported to clear the current backlog, with long term plans being to localise production.
“We have imported adequate plates to cover the current backlog and our plans are to produce these locally,” said the Minister.
The August house was also updated on traditional grain deliveries made to the grain marketing board so far.
“Seventy-five thousand metric tonnes of traditional grains have been delivered. The second highest since 1980. These include finger millet,” said the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement, Dr Anxious Masuka.
Legislation on early marriages was also questioned in the debate.
Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Hon Ziyambi Ziyambi said: “We have a bill on child marriages, but we must go beyond tightening our criminal laws to also engage communities on child marriages.”
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Trust has submitted a petition to parliament for consideration on the enactment of a law that criminalises calling for the imposition of sanctions on the country.-statemedia
By A Correspondent- Student activists from the University of Zimbabwe have implored Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) authorities to avail more buses to reduce pressure when people board buses and kombis as this has resulted in rampant sexual abuse of women in queues.
Acknowledge Mawere, spokesperson for Observe Our Rights Group, told B-Metro that they had encountered a lot of women and girls who had been abused at ZUPCO buses pick-up points.
Said Mawere:
From the interviews and researches we have done so far, women and girls are telling us that since there is usually a lot of pressure and a lot of people trying to get into the buses at times some men touch their private parts and other sensitive parts of their bodies.
There is also an issue of conductors, drivers and monitors demanding to date young school girls to secure them a seat.
Mawere urged ZUPCO officials to create a women-friendly environment in the ZUPCO ranks and terminuses.
Statements by Emmerson Mnangagwa that he is indispensable as exhibited by his rants in Mutare yesterday clearly shows that he is detached from reality.
Clearly the old man is living in dreamland. Either the people around him are misinforming him or he is just another miserable dictator who does not take advice.
He seems not to be aware that his name is soiled and unsellable to the public.
Mnangagwa’s name stinks to the public and a mere mention of his name in public places like bus terminus and shopping centres is usually greeted by a serious disapproval from citizens.
He is just unlikable, unelectable and way past his sell-by political date.
On the other hand, a mere mention of Nelson Chamisa’s name charms the nation. His brand is abundantly acceptable to the public.
Like all miserable dictators, Mnangagwa is clouded in a false sense of invincibility.
He is heading towards a crushing defeat at the hands of MDC Alliance led by President Nelson Chamisa.
Meanwhile, we implore all young people to go out in their numbers to register to vote. We are the change that we seek!

By A Correspondent- Norton MP Temba Mliswa (Independent) has urged opposition political parties to deploy polling agents at all polling stations and ensure they are well-paid to prevent rigging in the 2023 elections.
Speaking during a Zimbabwe Elections Support Network-organised panel discussion on election results management, Mliswa said opposition parties have no one to blame if they fail to safeguard their vote. He said:
When you have manual counting happening and you don’t have someone competent enough, who do you blame?.
Most of the political parties, even (MDC Alliance leader Nelson) Chamisa, did not have polling agents at most of the polling stations in 2018.
As a presidential candidate, whatever happens, you cannot blame the system.
The results are posted outside the polling station, which you see and the results go to the ward centre, then to the district centre, provincial centre up to the national centre.
There is nowhere the results can change if they have been posted outside and you have agreed with them. Your duty is to make sure the figures tally.
Chamisa narrowly lost to ZANU PF’s Emmerson Mnangagwa in the 2018 presidential poll. He refused to accept the results, alleging rigging, but his petition was dismissed by the Constitutional Court.
By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean man masquerading as a prophet in Botswana has been shamed after it emerged that he was sleeping with a number of women who sought his services and peddling a ‘magic’ oil called ‘Do as I say’ for P10 000 a bottle.
According to reports by one of Botswana’s popular newspapers, The Voice, Gerald Eliazer Tanaka Gapare, aka Gerald Miracle’s arrest came after his former fiancé, Tebo Mooki, spotted a poster advertising Miracle’s appearance at a ‘Prophetic Invasion’ in Mahalapye.
The paper recently reported that Gapare who is now behind bars was arrested after being deported thrice for being in that country illegally.
According to The Voice, Mooki, 40, who herself is a prophetess at God Grace International Ministry (GGIM), was in fact responsible for Miracle’s initial arrest back in April when she had a vivid dream that showed her then-lover was using charms.
The God-fearing woman, known as Prophetess Hannah, told The Voice that in her dream she saw exactly where Miracle hid his devices, which included an animal horn as well as various herbs, bones and ointments.
According to Mooki, when she awoke, she went to the hiding place and found there were indeed strange items hidden there. She says when she confronted her man, he duly confessed to using charms to defraud women and have sex with them.
“I reported to the police and they discovered that he was using a fake passport and was an illegal immigrant. He was deported on the 14th of April but, on the 18th, I was surprised to see his poster advertising a church service in Mogoditshane. He was arrested and deported in June. He is back again!” Prophetess Hannah told The Voice.
Describing Miracle as a sex-hungry maniac, Mooki claims when she asked him to get rid of the horn, he refused, saying he needed it to manage his erections.
“I want this man to be exposed because he is sexually abusing women and stealing their money in the name of God.
“I also found out he was having love affairs with many of my church ushers. I asked him to destroy the horn and he said it is not easy because when he throws it away, he remains horny!”
The paper reported that Miracle’s libido was said to be so strong that, according to Mooki, when the police were looking for him, a receptionist at one of the hotels in Gaborone told them that in one night, the miracle man could bring up to seven women back to his room for sex!
Casting her mind back to happier times, Mooki told The Voice the couple first met in 2017 in Rustenburg, South Africa where the church is based. After preaching the Word of God together for some time, they fell head-over-heels in love.
Smitten, by 2018 they were engaged, with Miracle keen to introduce his wife-to-be to his family in Masvingo, Zimbabwe.
“When we met, he claimed to be owning a mine in Zimbabwe, but I became suspicious because he was always broke. I asked his mother about his mining business and she told me it’s a lie.
“He kept on pushing that we get married but I refused and told him not until he found a job. He told me he was a servant of God and he was not supposed to work,” she told The Voice, concluding it was thanks to the good Lord for showing her Miracle’s true colours and helping her avoid a nightmare marriage.
Meanwhile, upon his arrest the alleged bogus prophet was found using a passport, the police believed to be fake.
Memory Machaya thought to be the 14 year old Marange victim of child marriage, is not dead at all, the Zimbabwe Republic Police announces. Full Text-
ARREST OF HATIRARAMI MOMBERUME IN CONNECTION WITH THE PREGNANCY AND DEATH OF A MINOR AT MARANGE SHRINE The Zimbabwe Republic Police wishes to thank the public for patience and space which they allowed the Police to conduct investigations into the alleged death of Memory Machaya at Mafararikwa Village, Marange while giving birth in July 2021. The Police has indeed conducted comprehensive investigations culminating in the arrest of Hatirarami Momberume (26) alias Evans Momberume. The minor who died in this case is Anna Machaya, born on 5th July 2006 and not Memory Machaya born on 2nd January 1999.
It is correct that Anna Machaya died on 15th July 2021 and was buried at the shrine after experiencing complications while giving birth.
The police is also pressing criminal charges against Anna Machaya’s father, Edmore Machaya (45) and mother Shy Mabika (36) for obstructing or defeating the course of justice. The parents openly lied to the Police that Anna Machaya was born rd January 1999. The mother went on to give Police investigators a national identity card in a bid to prove that she was born on 2″d January 1999. This was false. Investigations have revealed that the identity card produced to the police belonged to a namesake of the late minor who is a daughter to Ernest Machaya. This is an uncle to the late Anna Machaya. It is through school records in Mhondoro that the Police actually proved that the late Anna Machaya was born on 5th July 2006 to Edmore Machaya and Shy Mabika. The Police has obtained the correct birth certificate copies in respect of Memory Machaya (22) and the late Anna Machaya (15). These are two different people with different mother and father. Memory Machaya is alive and currently married to Lameck Makonye alias Sigodhla (54) in Mhondoro.
Hatirarami Momberume is facing charges of rape or alternatively contravening section 70 of the Code. The late Anna Machaya’s parents will face charges of pledging a minor after trying to hand over another minor aged nine years to the suspect.
Investigations are in progress with a view of unraveling all the facts in this case. The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges all Zimbabweans to be law abiding citizens and engage in lawful activities. Anyone who tries to interfere with Police investigations will face the full wrath of law.

By A Correspondent- The Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T has fired Chinhoyi Constituency legislator, Dr Peter Mataruse and Chinhoyi Municipality Mayor and Ward 5 Councillor Garikai Dendera.
Reports indicate that the opposition party has axed the two, including Ward 1 Councillor Sairos Good, who have yet to receive official confirmation of their expulsion.
Both MDC Alliance Mashonaland West provincial chairperson Ralph Magunje and Dr Mataruse said they were yet to get official communication on the recalls. Mataruse said:
I have heard about my recall, though I am yet to receive an official letter. I expect to receive the letter officially if the messages going around social media are true.
Mayor Dendera also said he had not received the letter of recall. He insisted the MDC-T had no power to expel him as he belonged to the MDC Alliance. By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has claimed that he is the one who persuaded the outgoing Zambian President Edgar Lungu to concede defeat.
Lungu lost to his long time rival Hakainde Hichilema in the last week’s presidential elections.
Posting on Twitter this Thursday, Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, George Charamba, said Mnangagwa persuaded Lungu not to dig in but surrender power to his rival.
“Upon arrival, His Excellency briefed his supporters on the just-ended SADC. For the first time, he disclosed that he phoned the outgoing Zambian President, President Edgar Lungu, to persuade him to make way for the winner, President-Elect, Hichilema, to secure peace in the country and region,” said Charamba.
According to Charamba, Mnangagwa revealed this while addressing Zanu PF supporters on arrival in Mutare on Thursday morning.
A pirate taxi (mushikashika) driver allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Zvishavane Central Police Station after police refused to return his vehicle which they had impounded for operating in contravention of COVID-19 restrictions.
Tapiwa Manyimo (38) of Maglas suburb in the asbestos mining town was pronounced dead on arrival at Zvishavane District Hospital where he had been rushed for medical attention.
Police found a suicide note in one of his pockets which indicated that he was having sleepless nights at home as his wife was harassing him over the impounded vehicle which was his only source of income.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident but said he had no full details at hand. He said:
I can confirm that there is a sudden death matter involving a Zvishavane man who committed suicide and left behind a suicide note.
A source close to the matter said:
He [Manyimo] walked to the police station and pleaded with the police officers to have his pirate taxi released but the police would not budge.
The police were insisting that all impounded vehicles will be taken to the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) for inspection first before they are released to their owners.

Harare mayor Jacob Mafume, who was suspended last December by Local Government minister July Moyo, is back in office, triggering confusion at Town House over who is in charge between him and acting mayor Stewart Mutizwa.
Mafume returned to work on Monday and held several meetings, including a presentation on Sunshine Holdings projects with former Harare mayor Muchadeyi Masunda.
“I am back in the office now. My suspension ended,” Mafume told NewsDay yesterday.
Harare has been operating with councillor Mutizwa as acting mayor since the suspension of Mafume who is being accused of criminal abuse of office relating to improper allocation of residential stands.
Mafume, however, denies the allegations.
Harare is currently in a crisis as it is operating with only one substantive director, Prosper Chonzi (health) after several others were suspended and were facing criminal charges.
Former mayor Herbert Gomba (MDC Alliance), who was elected mayor in 2018, but was recalled by the MDC-T, is also facing criminal charges.
He was succeeded by Mafume before his suspension. Luckson Mukunguma took over as acting mayor and was also suspended.
Mutizwa was not picking calls yesterday. But sources at Town House said he was the preferred choice of government officials, adding that it was only a matter of time before Mafume was “dealt with”.
A 38-year- old mshika-shika driver in Emmerson Mnangagwa’s home area allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Zvishavane Central Police Station in protest after his vehicle was impounded by the police.
Tapiwa Manyimo of Maglas suburb, Zvishavane in the asbestos mining town was pronounced dead on arrival at Zvishavane District Hospital where he had been rushed for medical attention.
A suicide note was found in one of his pockets which indicated that he was having sleepless nights at home as his wife was tormenting him over the impounded vehicle.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident but said he had no full details at hand.
“I can confirm that there is a sudden death matter involving a Zvishavane man who committed suicide and left behind a suicide note,” he said.
Asst Comm Nyathi said police investigations were underway. Sources close to the matter said the incident occurred on Saturday.
They said Manyimo visited Zvishavane central police station to negotiate for the release of his vehicle which had been impounded by the police.
The police have been impounding pirate taxis and other vehicles caught violating the Covid-19 regulations countrywide.
“Police in Zvishavane recently launched a blitz on pirate taxis and Tapiwa Manyimo was one of the victims of the blitz as his fun cargo was impounded,” said Mr Promise Mariba.
He said Manyimo penned a suicide note in which he was accusing his wife of pressuring him to recover the impounded vehicle because he was no longer able to look after his family.
Mr Mariba said the vehicle was their only source of income.
“He then walked to the police station and pleaded with the police officers to have his pirate taxi released but the police would not budge. The police were insisting that all impounded vehicles will be taken to the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) for inspection first before they are released to their owners,” he said.
Mr Mariba said Manyimo took some pesticide from his pocket and consumed it at the police station before collapsing.
“He was rushed to Zvishavane District Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. His pockets were searched leading to the discovery of the suicide note,” he said.- Chronicle
BONGANI NEEDED a pee so he stepped into the graveyard.
But if he thought it was okay to pee on a tombstone, somebody with a gun thought it wasn’t.
He was shot at close range at Bakerton Cemetery in Springs, Ekurhuleni by a person who accused him of not respecting his ancestors on Sunday and died on the spot.
His gatvol family want cops to hunt down the suspect to pay for what he did.
A 28-year-old friend of Bongani Zwane (26) from Gugulethu squatter camp in Springs was with him when the incident happened.
“A man driving a white Ford Ranger came close to Bongani and asked him why was he was being disrespectful and peeing on the tombstone,” said the friend.
“He produced a gun and shot him at close range.”
He said after shooting Bongani, the man drove into the suburb.
“I was also scared and I had to ask help from people to call the ambulance.”
He said by the time the ambulance arrived, Bongani was weak and he died few minutes later.
“I want justice for my friend. Bongani was just peeing. He didn’t kill anyone.”
Captain Johannes Ramphora of Springs police confirmed the incident and said cops were appealing for help that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
“The witness said he heard one shot and saw his friend run about 100 metres and collapse,” said Ramphora. “He said the male got into his white Ford with yellow number plates and drove off.”
He said investigations revealed the bullet went in under the ribcage of the victim and did not exit the body. “It seems the victim was shot with a 9mm pistol.”
Ramphora said no cartridges were found on the scene.
Bongani’s sister Nobuhle Zwane (29) said she wanted the man arrested. “He could have just warned him and not kill my brother. Some people are just gun crazy,” she said.
“This thing has affected my mum badly and I don’t think she will recover soon.”
Anyone who has information is asked to call 08600 10111 or visit the Springs police station.
Sangoma Nyokayamanzi said it is bad luck to pee on top of the graves. “It’s sad that people don’t respect thhe dead anymore.”

Professor Solwayo Ngwenya has warned Zimbabweans to remain vigilant and reduce human interaction to avoid the fourth wave of COVID-19.
Prof Ngwenya, who is Mpilo Central Hospital acting chief executive officer, said lightening the lockdown would be akin to lighting a fire. He said:
I’m afraid the fourth wave is going to be in the making very soon. I can see even yourself you are starting to talk about lightening the lockdown, so once it is lightened, you are going to light a fire.
I’m afraid that the message remains the same, the consistency of Solwayo Ngwenya of Bulawayo is that people must respect that the coronavirus is a terrible disease that has befallen humankind.
According to my predictions, this disease is not going to go away without taking many lives going forward.
It’s incumbent on people that instead of taking warnings as alarmist behaviour, sit down and think carefully, take heed of what we always say, the consistent warning that coronavirus is a serious disease.
… Fourth and fifth or whatever waves are going to be of our making and if we are not careful, we are going to brew up a big wave which is going to consume and kill many people.
He dismissed false claims that cases could start to fall as summer sets in saying the Delta variant doesn’t seem to be following a seasonal trend and attacks humans wherever it can find them.
Prof Ngwenya added that the coronavirus is still here for about three or four years to come, so relaxing the lockdown will result in rising infections and deaths due to the excitement that accompanies the relaxation of lockdowns.- H- Metro
Tinashe Sambiri|God is removing wicked leaders and replacing them with his chosen servants, MDC Alliance Secretary General Hon Charlton Hwende has declared.

Malawi and Zambia, both former British colonies are now under new governments respectively and political commentators argue the wave of change is sweeping across the former Rhodesia and Nyasalaland geographical area.
Zimbabwe was initially part of the united Rhodesia and Nyasalaland Republic.
MDC Alliance vice chairperson Hon Job Sikhala believes in 2023 Zanu PF will be voted out of power.
Below is Hon Sikhala’s presentation:
We must build and expand the horizons of our friends and followers.
The business of insulting other pple should not be part of our portion.
We mean good to everyone and every suffering Zimbabwean. We need all for the struggle and fight for freedom. In numbers we will kick them out.
This country some years ago was called the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. It included modern day Malawi, Zambia and our own Zimbabwe. UZ was once Univ of Rhod and Nyasa
They did it in Malawi and recently did it in Zambia. We will do it in Zimbabwe in 2023. Come on Zimbabwe!!!
Zimbabweans shld not listen at all to threats of war thrown around by pple like George Charamba.
Zimbabwe will never hv a war again to subvert the pple. He must be careful of what he is bargaining for.

Tinashe Sambiri|Professor Jonathan Moyo has postulated that the Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa lied about his age.
Moyo posits that Mnangagwa’s year of birth is 1938 and he wil turn 83 next month.
If Prof Moyo’s assertion is anything to go by, it means Mr Mnangagwa lied about his age.
“HOW OLD IS EMMERSON MNANGAGWA? Some who were with him in Zambia, and were born in Sept 1938, say they used to have joint birthday parties with him.

Taking preventive measures against COVID-19 can help you protect your brain health, one expert says.
Two studies presented at the 2021 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) in Denver suggest that COVID-19 may lead to cognitive impairment down the road — and that certain symptoms that persist after recovering from the infection may be associated with cognitive decline.
One study uncovered ties between persistent loss of smell after recovering from COVID-19 and cognitive decline. The other found that people whose physical and respiratory health suffered due to a bout of COVID-19 were more likely to have issues with cognition afterward.
“I think what we’re learning is that it’s quite possible that these COVID-19 infections are potentially having an impact on the brain in some way,” says Rebecca Edelmayer, PhD, who is the senior director of scientific engagement for the Alzheimer’s Association in Chicago. Edelmayer was not affiliated with either study.
“There are still a lot of questions about the cause and effect, whether this is a direct or indirect effect [of COVID-19], but what we’re starting to see is data that suggests that people may be having some long-term impact from COVID-19 infection,” Edelmayer adds.
Persistent Loss of Smell Tied to Cognitive Impairment In one study, researchers assessed 233 people who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and 64 healthy participants who tested negative.
All participants in the study were age 60 or older. Those who tested positive were studied for three to six months after recovering from the virus.
The study participants underwent testing of their cognition and olfactory function — or function related to their sense of smell.
Many IBD Patients Skipped or Reduced Medication Doses Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic COVID-19 Transmission, Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention:
The results of the study suggested that loss of smell was associated with persistent cognitive impairment among participants who recovered from the virus — and people with more severe loss of smell were more likely to have more severe cognitive impairment.
However, the researchers noted, the severity of olfactory dysfunction was not associated with how severe one’s bout of COVID-19 was.
“There is some suggestion that lack of smell could be a symptom of COVID-19 infection itself, but some people who experience COVID-19 without that symptom are having a persistent lack of smell afterward. So I think we have to learn more about what that symptom itself may imply in terms of the long-term impact of COVID-19 on the brain,” Edelmayer says.
COVID-19’s Lingering Effects on Lung Health (and What It Means for Cognition) In a small, Greek study, researchers tested physical and mental function beginning with 32 people two months after they’d been hospitalized and recovered from mild to moderate COVID-19.
According to the study’s lead author, George Vavougios, MD, PhD, who is a postdoctoral researcher for the University of Thessaly, the number of participants in this study has now grown to almost 100.
None of the participants had any prior coexisting health conditions other than hypertension, or high blood pressure.
Testing included the six-minute walk test, which measures how far someone can walk for six minutes, as well as their oxygen saturation — or levels of oxygen in their blood as they were completing the test.
Other tests such as the Montreal Cognitive Assessment measured whether participants had experienced cognitive decline after recovering from COVID-19.
Early findings from the study showed that more than half (56.2 percent) of participants had cognitive decline after recovering from COVID-19. Cognitive decline was found to be most common among people who demonstrated poor physical health and had concerningly low levels of oxygen in the blood during the six-minute walk test.
“For a healthy person, oxygen saturation would be at 99 percent whether we’re exercising or walking,” he explains. But for many people in the study, their oxygen saturation dropped to 95 percent, which, Dr. Vavougios says, resembles the lung function of someone with COPD (a group of lung conditions that inhibit airflow and cause breathing issues).
This finding could spell trouble for brain health, explains Vavougios. “A brain deprived of oxygen is not healthy, and persistent deprivation may very well contribute to cognitive difficulties,” he said in a press release.

Sabbath School Summary LESSON 8 By Elder Dr MASIMBA MAVAZA Free to Rest Lesson 8
Memory Text: Psalms 27:1
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
INTRODUCTION
Many of the people Jesus encountered in His earthly ministry were sick, sometimes even unto death. They thronged to Jesus for healing and for rest from their sufferings; and they always received it.
Sometimes He just spoke a word, and they were fully recovered. Sometimes He touched the sick, and, miraculously, they were healed. Sometimes He sent them off, and healing took place as they went on their way. Jesus healed men, women, children, Jews, non-Jews, rich people, and poor, unassuming people. The worst cases of leprosy and blindness were not beyond His reach. Indeed, He even healed those with the worst “sickness” of all—death.
This week, we look at two very different examples of healing. In the one, the sufferer was so ill that he could not even come to Jesus on his own. His symptoms were clearly visible to everyone. In the other case, there were no obvious visible symptoms. In both cases, healing came in God’s time and way.
As we explore the topic of rest from pain and suffering, we also will contemplate the question that all of us, at some point or another in our Christian walk, have experienced. What happens when our prayers for healing aren’t answered?
SABBATH: Jesus Christ is the Great Physician. He devoted more time to healing the sick of their maladies than to preaching. No ailing soul came to him & left unattended to. He healed by words, by touch, & by command (sending away). The rich, poor, young, old, Jews, & Gentiles all got their healing. We’ll study two kinds of His healing; 1. when signs are visible & 2. when not visible. God answers prayer in His time.
SUNDAY: The “why” questions in life are often asked when one is sick; whether life threatening or not. Has the unhealthy habits made us sick? Is it because of our weight or the drugs we took 20 years ago? The sure thing is that we need rest; physically & mentally when sick. A paralytic self-inflicted his malady on himself but Christ healed him (Mark 2:1-4). Sin is the root of all maladies (see DA, p. 267-271).
MONDAY: In healing the paralytic, Christ tackled the root source for his ailment—sin (Mark 2:5-12). He who is the Searcher of hearts operated not by sight—signs & symptoms but what was unseen. Being alienated from God, He was exposed to sickness & no true rest. He who rests in God is able to face all woes in this world. Christ gave healing to the paralytic in both body & soul (Mark 2:8, 9, Gen. 1).
TUESDAY: Statistical data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that over 300 million souls are affected by ailments without symptoms, yearly. Depression, the leading cause of disability in this world is often not talked about in the Christian circles. Some see it as a depiction of lack of faith & hence shy away from raising it (not true). Elijah also got depressed (1 Kings 18 & 19:1-5). God brings joy.
WEDNESDAY: Elijah fled from his post of duty when threatened. If he had faith in God as in Mt. Carmel, he would sparked a major reform in Israel (1 Kings 18:36, 37 & 19:4). When calm, he realized he was just like anyone of us, a sinner in need of a Savior; Christ. He felt weak & was too tired to run. He prayed to God. God sees us as He see Jesus when we pray (Phil. 3:9). Death is not the escape for depression (1 Kings 19:4, 7). Christ is (SC, p. 97).
THURSDAY: As the Burden Bearer, God knew the plight of Elijah. He was physically & emotionally tired. As Jesus gave the paralytic rest, God relieved Elijah from his loads of burden (1 Kings 19:5-8). Elijah was running away from his troubles but God bid him to run to Him. There comes a time in life when we feel down & wants to run. God feels our sorrows & wants to redirect us (1 Kings 19:12, 15, 16 & 2 Kings 2:11, 1:10).
FRIDAY: Times change, but God does not. Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor power shall be able to separate us from God’s love. God is forever good. His relation to us does not change with a change in our circumstances. Always look unto Jesus, for He cares for you. Offer silent prayers in faith & take hold of His strength no matter how you feel. Even when depressed, God listens. His light will find you.

Discussion Questions
? It is often very difficult to help someone suffering from mental disorders or depression. What would be a good strategy for your church to learn how to minister more effectively to those affected by depression?
? We often struggle to be open and honest before God. Scan through some psalms and see how open and honest the biblical authors were before God. How can we foster an atmosphere of openness and honesty in our local congregation?
? Prayer is often difficult when we face depression. Discuss the power of intercessory prayer for those who cannot pray for themselves.
? Why is it so important that we remember that faith is not feeling? Just because we are depressed, discouraged, fearful, and worried doesn’t mean we lack faith or trust in God. It means only that, for the moment, we are depressed, discouraged, fearful, and worried, as all of us have been at some point or another. How can we learn that, at times like this, reaching out in faith is so crucial, no matter how difficult it may seem?
? What great hope can you take from the story of the paralytic, especially if a sinful lifestyle has brought disease and sickness upon you?
19 AUGUST 2021 ARREST OF HATIRARAMI MOMBERUME IN CONNECTION WITH THE PREGNANCY AND DEATH OF A MINOR AT MARANGE SHRINE The Zimbabwe Republic Police wishes to thank the public for patience and space which they allowed the Police to conduct investigations into the alleged death of Memory Machaya at Mafararikwa Village, Marange while giving birth in July 2021.

Victor Matemadanda and Dr Masimba Mavaza in studio
By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Zimbabwe was shocked by the British Overview Report which cast a very thick dark cloud on Zimbabwe’s economy. In a direct attack on Zimbabwe’s sovereignty and economy the British Overview Report encouraged British citizens not to invest in Zimbabwe.
The intentions of the British was not hidden they came out very clear in their report. After attacking the Zimbabwean economy the British went on to state in their report that Zimbabwean Elections are in 2023. This was not a mention by the way. It was a calculated decampaigning strategy meant to soil the good name of the ruling party. This was politics packaged in an economic report. The British Overview Report shows all under hand being played by the British in their push towards Regime change. Zimbabweans must treat this report with all the contempt it deserves.
Contrary to the BOR Zimbabwe has experienced a resurgence in economic activity, with GDP growth averaging about 3% percent during 2020-2021. Economic growth in Zimbabwe surpassed the average for Sub-Saharan Africa during this period. The economy rebounded significantly in the early years of the new dispensation averaging 3 percent growth during the pandemic.
Overview. Prior to 2020 Zimbabwe experienced periods of strong and weak economic performance. Real GDP growth rates averaged nearly 2.9 percent a year reflecting deliberate policies that promoted large-scale investment in domestic manufacturing and agriculture. The latter policies were motivated in large part by a need to achieve self-sufficiency following international sanctions against the Zimbabwean government.
It is a fact that Since 1980, Zimbabwe’s performance has been mixed, reflecting policy lapses and adverse weather conditions that affected agricultural output. The country recorded its strongest post-independence growth performance during 1980-90 with gross domestic product (GDP) growing by an average of around 5.5 percent, higher than the average for Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries, while the population grew at about 3 percent.
But what is economic Growth Economic growth it is an increase in the production of goods and services over a specific period. To be most accurate, the measurement must remove the effects of inflation. Let us remember that Zimbabwe in 1980, when it became independent from British rule, it inherited a developed and predominantly white controlled economy. Since then, the government of Zimbabwe instituted a number of reforms that transformed the economy from being more of socialism to more of capitalism, as it is today More importantly, is the change in trade dynamics between 1980 and the post 2000 period. National, global and regional trade developments and resultant policies have also contributed to the noted trade shift. The historical decade of economic contraction and political developments, from the start of the new millennium, affected the country’s real economy, as was manifested in shrinking production capacity and hence the composition, value, volume and source of both exports and imports. The measuring of the GDP became biased when Zimbabwe tried to reach an economic emancipation and extricate itself from the policies which favoured the white minority. The over celebrated economy was measured against the white population and the black majority lives did not mater. The moment Zimbabwe interpreted its independence to mean economic freedom the world looks at our economy differently.
While the British try to jinx our economy and rubbish the efforts being done by Mthuli NCUBE the World Bank gave a different view of our economy. The world bank in its March 2021 report said “After facing an economic crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Zimbabwe’s economy is set to rebound by 2.9% in 2021, supported by recovery of agriculture and due to base effects. Expected bumper harvest and continuation of rule-based monetary policy will stabilize food prices and improve food security. However, disruptions caused by the pandemic will continue to weigh on economic activity in Zimbabwe, limiting employment growth and improvements in living standards.” The world bank reported further that.
“In 2020, gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have contacted by 8% for a second year in a row as COVID-19 halted economic recovery. Operating restrictions led to depressed manufacturing, non-mineral exports, and hospitality, trade, and transport sectors. Sales of manufacturing and services firms in July 2020 were about half sales in 2019. Supply-side shocks subsided after easing of mobility restrictions, but domestic demand was weak in an environment of triple-digit inflation, high unemployment and income losses. Demand for imports increased as several years of drought necessitated increased imports of maize and electricity while the pandemic presented new demands for lab equipment and medical supplies. The current account was in surplus, due to high remittances inflows and trade surplus.”
It is very clear that the slowing down of our economy during 2020 was due to COVID-19 which was not originated by Zimbabwe’s miss-governing as the British want us to believe.
Fiscal and monetary policy responses to the pandemic have been limited to contain volatility of prices. Fiscal policy remained tight despite wage pressures and additional spending needs to respond to the pandemic and growing number of poor. The fiscal balance turned into a small deficit of 1.3% of GDP in 2020. In June 2020, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe operationalized the reserve money targeting framework, floated the exchange rate, and introduced foreign auction. These measures helped to stabilize the parallel market exchange rate and reduce the parallel market premium, although it remained distortionary. As a result, inflation slowed down to 322% in February 2021 from its peak of 838% in July 2020.
The pandemic and its impacts disrupted livelihoods, especially in urban areas. Wage earners in urban areas and the extreme poor were disproportionally affected by the pandemic, as their pay was either cut or not received at all. Rural households rely less on wage employment and nonfarm businesses. Zimbabwe has done well in fighting the pandemic.
Project preparations became a success for the Health Emergency Preparedness Response Trust Fund to contribute to the country’s National Vaccination and Deployment Strategy in line with a request from the Government. Zimbabwe has reached a two million mark in the vaccination. This is a feat never expected by any one in the world.
There has been some stealing of COVID funds or misuse there of but this is not at the proportion of the Americans who stole over ten billion in COVID FUNDS. Or the very British whose prime-mister’s girlfriend made millions from Covid funds. This stinks to the highest level.
We are aware that The latest economic analysis for the country says the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts disrupted livelihoods.
The pandemic further disrupted provision of basic public services in health, education and social protection, which were strained prior to the pandemic, affecting poor citizens the most. the report warns that there is a risk of reversing some of Zimbabwe’s previous progress on human capital development. The Zimbabwe Economic situation is overcoming Economic Challenges, Natural Disasters, and the Pandemic. The report by the British is a shameful biased report. Zimbabwe’s economy is bouncing back in 2021 as the country shrugs off the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the government takes further measures to stabilise the currency, finance minister Mthuli Ncube said. We as Zimbabweans should go by our minister’s word his reporting is not biased and he is the one on the ground. His report is corroborated by the World Bank which is more reliable than the biased British report.
“Gross domestic product is expected to expand by 7.4 per cent after contracting by an estimated 4.5 per cent this year,”Minister Ncube said in a budget strategy paper presented to reporters and businesspeople in the capital, Harare.
Growth next year will be anchored by agriculture and mining, which forecast to grow by 11.3 per cent and 11 per cent respectively, he said.
The country generates the bulk of its foreign currency earnings from exports of tobacco, gold and platinum. So Zimbabwe is thriving in the glory of progress.
We must remember that Economic growth is an increase in the production of goods and services over a specific period. To be most accurate, the measurement must remove the effects of inflation. Zimbabwe has had a bumper harvest thanks to Pfumvudza project. How on earth can any one say our economy has gone down.
While the history of the global pandemic is still being written, one enduring outcome of the past year will certainly be its effect on the imperative of sustainability. This shared trauma served to remind us just how fragile we are as a community, as a global economy, and as stewards of the earth’s climate. The difficult work of improving environmental, social, and governance norms is taking place at all levels of society, and the resulting changes will have profound implications for investors. So investors should be afraid of investing in the whole world if we judge by the way the world was not prepared to fight COVID-19. It is not fair to single out Zimbabwe and issue a false alarm.
It is surely very safe to invest in Zimbabwe and it is only the figment of a rotten imagination in the mind of those who believe that Zimbabwe is not safe for investment. Another significant issue highlighted by investors who are benefiting by investing in Zimbabwe over the past year is the peace and security prevailing in Zimbabwe. The confused economic intelligence operatives must realise that as a nation Zimbabwe is pleased to provide latest thinking on issues that we believe will affect investors in the months and years to come. Zimbabwe has a global footprint and diverse capabilities to enable it to offer both the insight of our economy and the product solutions to help investors realize the possibilities and advantages of investing in Zimbabwe.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in Zimbabwe is projected to reach 3.9 percent in 2021, a significant improvement after a two-year recession, according to the World Bank Zimbabwe Economic Update (ZEU) launched in June 2021.
Zimbabwe has enjoyed peace and tranquility which is rare in other countries. There has never been a human rights complain in Zimbabwe since the new dispensation. Even the detractors have sang praises of peace in Zimbabwe. The investment has taken a new high and Zimbabwe remains open for business. One point we must all bear in mind is that it is the same detractors who decide what is a safe environment for investment. Their word is tainted with self serving idiocy and wants to keep Zimbabwe under their thump.
As a nation it is enough we can not take it any longer. People should learn to mind their problems. Right now the UK and America are crawling out of Afghanistan with their tails in between their legs. Instead of concentrating on that they make it their business to destroy Zimbabwe.
The whole issue about Zimbabwe not being safe for investment is calculated to undermine the efforts done by Zimbabwe. It is a clear effort to promote the opposition in the forth coming elections in 2023.
. Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours in the whole world and it is our duty to guard our interests jealously.
By A Correspondent- A member of the Welshman Ncube-led MDC has announced that he expelled the party leadership for aligning themselves with the Nelson Chamisa-led formation and threatened to recall four MPs from Parliament.
A letter by Shipikai Mandaza, who described himself as interim leader of the MDC-N, stated that six senior leaders, among them party leader Welshman Ncube and Dzivarasekwa MP Edwin Mushoriwa, who was the deputy president, were no longer members of the MDC-N after aligning with Chamisa.
Speaking to NewsDay on Wednesday, Mandaza said he would fight to ensure the recall of Mushoriwa from Parliament and other elected officials.
“If you join another political party, automatically you would have expelled yourself from the MDC-N. We cannot, therefore, have a situation where we have Ncube as our president and him being the vice-president of the MDC Alliance. You cannot play for Highlanders and Dynamos football clubs at the same time,” he said.
Mandaza’s letter comes after the MDC-N suspended four officials last week for attending a meeting convened by the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T on August 3, 2021.
The four, Mandaza, Christopher Monera (secretary for policy and research), Munhangu Musevenzo (secretary for training and political education) and Gift Kurupati (national council member) were set to appear before a disciplinary hearing, according to Faruoh Jele, the alliance national disciplinary committee chairperson.
Reached for comment Ncube’s spokesperson Kurauone Chihwai said the four are were suspended and would appear before a disciplinary committee in due course.
By A Correspondent- A 64-year-old man has been arrested by police for allegedly raping four minors aged 10 and 14 years.
Posting on Twitter, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said they have arrested the man for raping two minors aged 10 and 14 years.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of a Bindura man (64) for rape cases involving four minors aged 14, 10, 11 and 10. The suspect raped the victims who are related to his wife on different occasions,” police said.
Police did not reveal further details on the matter.
By A Correspondent- Harare mayor Jacob Mafume (MDC Alliance), who was suspended last December by Local Government minister July Moyo, is back in the office.
Moyo suspended Mafume on allegations of corruption and replaced him with Councillor Stewart Mutizwa.
Mafume returned to work on Monday and held several meetings, including presenting Sunshine Holdings projects with former Harare mayor Muchadeyi Masunda.
“I am back in the office now. My suspension ended,” said Mafume.
Former mayor Herbert Gomba (MDC Alliance), who was elected mayor in 2018, but was recalled by the MDC-T, is also facing criminal charges.
Mafume succeeded him before his suspension. Luckson Mukunguma took over as acting mayor and was also suspended.
NewsDay reported sources at Town House as saying Mutizwa was the preferred choice of government officials, adding that it was only a matter of time before Mafume was “dealt with”.
By A Correspondent- Harare mayor Jacob Mafume (MDC Alliance), who was suspended last December by Local Government minister July Moyo, is back in the office.
Councillor Stewart Mutizwa had been acting Harare mayor since Mafume’s suspension, and it is not clear who is in charge at Town House between the two.
Mafume returned to work on Monday and held several meetings, including presenting Sunshine Holdings projects with former Harare mayor Muchadeyi Masunda. :

By A Correspondent- Matabeleland traditional leadership is preparing for a Gukurahundi explosive meeting with Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
According to the state media, the meeting is due this Saturday in Bulawayo.
Several chiefs from Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South will today and tomorrow hold meetings to deliberate on the subject ahead of the meeting with Mnangagwa on Saturday.
Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga is also expected to attend the high-powered meeting on Saturday.
The others expected to attend the meeting are the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs and Local Government and Public Works officials.
Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi on Wednesday confirmed the development, saying the chiefs are expected to add flesh on the agenda of the meeting. Said Ziyambi:
Ask the chiefs, we are just facilitators, we have been invited as well. I’m sure they will be happy to tell you because we don’t want it to appear as if it’s our meeting when it’s their meeting.
President of the National Council of Chiefs, Chief Charumbira who is expected to be part of the meeting said he could not comment over the phone.
But sources close to the developments told the Chronicle that the Gukurahundi issue is expected to top the agenda.
Gukurahundi is a term used to refer to the 1980s massacre of an estimated 20 000 people mainly from the Ndebele ethnic group by the Zimbabwe National Army’s 5th brigade, trained by North Koreans.
Gukurahundi is derived from a Shona language term that loosely translates to “the early rain which washes away the chaff before the spring rains.
By A Correspondent- Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe has given in to pressure from the public and finally unleashed the police on the husband of the late 14-year-old girl Memory Machaya, who died while giving birth.
Memory’s death caused an outcry, with the international community expressing concern over the rising cases of child marriages, especially within white garment churches.
Evans Momberume, a member of the Johane Marange in Bocha Mutare, is set to appear at the Mutare Magistrates Court following his arrest in the eastern border town on Wednesday.
Law enforcement sources said Momberume, who had escaped police after abruptly leaving the shrine, was arrested by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department’s Homicide Division. If convicted of having sexual intercourse or performing indecent acts with a young person, Momberume will be sentenced to 10 years in prison.
According to Memory’s mother and aunt, she was buried inside the shrine two hours after her death, but the church’s leaders have denied this.
Memory’s mother said she was blocked from witnessing her burial and banished from the church for “causing trouble”. Investigators are still searching for her burial site. Zimbabwe has two sets of marriage laws, the Marriage Act and Customary Marriages Act. Neither law gives a minimum age for marriage consent, while the customary law allows polygamy. A new marriages bill that is before parliament for debate seeks to synchronise the laws, ban the marriage of anyone below 18 years and prosecute anyone involved in the marriage of a minor.

Tinashe Sambiri|Professor Jonathan Moyo has postulated that the Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa lied about his age.
Moyo posits that Mnangagwa’s year of birth is 1938 and he wil turn 83 next month.

HBy A Correspondent- A Harare man who impersonated being Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officer appeared in court Wednesday facing 19 rap_e charges.
He committed the offences, which also include robbery after offering the women transport on various occasions across Harare.
He is also being charged with money laundering and impersonation.
Sam Muropa (31) appeared before Harare magistrate, Dennis Mangosi who advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
The bogus gunman was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to September 18, 2021.
The police said more complainants were still filing charges against Muropa.
According to state papers, the accused bought an Audi A4 vehicle, registration AFA 0272 using the proceeds of crime.
On 27 July this year at around 11 am, the first complainant boarded a Toyota Wish, silver in colour with three occupants including Muropa intending to get into town.
The court heard along Samora Machel Avenue one of the accused’s colleagues seated at the back seat grabbed the complainant by the neck while his accomplice who was seated by her side pointed a pistol at her.
He later grabbed her handbag and stole US$600.
After that Muropa and accomplices covered her face with a cloth and dumped her close to Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison where she was assisted by prison wardens.
On July 29, 2021, at around 14:30 hrs the gang also robbed another complainant of US$20 cash and valuables worth US$170.
The following day, another unsuspecting passenger boarded the trio’s car intending to get into town.
Along the way, close to White House shops in Kuwadzana, the suspects produced knives and ordered the complainant not to lift her head.
They assaulted her with clenched fists and later parked their vehicle at a bushy area near Nharira Farm in Norton.
Muropa allegedly rap_ed the complainant once without protection. After the ordeal, he stole her iPhone and Samsung J4 Plus, national identity card, and US$13.
The trio later dumped her, and she was assisted by good Samaritans.
On the same day, Muropa and accomplices picked another female and wanted to rap_e her.
The court heard the victim told Muropa she was HIV positive after which he forced his manhood in her mouth and later ejacu_lated between her thighs.
They stole money amounting to US$105, Samsung phone, HP laptop, USB, and hard drive.
The accused person threw the complainant’s handbag through the passenger window and ordered her to disembark while nak_ed. She lost property worth US$590 and property worth US$200 was recovered.
Five days later, Muropa and accomplices picked another passenger in Kuwadzana and drove to Bulawayo Road where they suddenly attacked her while in their vehicle.
The court heard they searched for valuables and ordered her to undress.
It is alleged they then forced her to mastur_bate threatening to rap_e her if she did not comply with their orders.
They let her mastur_bate for close to 20 minutes while watching and later dumped her 20 meters away from a railway in Tynwald.
She lost valuables worth US$84 and nothing was recovered.
On the same day at around 11:45 am, two sisters fell prey to the trio after boarding the Toyota Wish at Oriel Girls High in Chisipite intending to get into town.
The two sisters were forced to undress and mastur_bate while the suspects went through their belongings.
They stole US$93, a handbag, wallet, blower, braids, identification particulars, and cellphones before dumping them.
On 13 August, two women from Budiriro were allegedly rap_ed by Muropa on different occasions.
On the same day at around 2 pm, Muropa allegedly rap_ed another woman in Westwood without protection before stealing her belongings and dumping her.
The 17th and 18th counts happened on August 15.
Muropa and friends picked the complainant who they later left nak_ed near Zindoga shopping centre in Waterfalls after stealing valuables worth US$842 from her. Only a Covid -19 vaccination card in her name was recovered.
The second victim on this day was picked up from Highlands.
They blindfolded her and rap_ed her from Highlands to Hatfield without protection. They dumped her and drove along North Road.
She also managed to identify Muropa at an identification parade. She lost property worth US$120 and nothing was recovered.
The last incident investigated occurred on August 16 when the complainant was robbed of goods worth US$520 and nothing was recovered.
On August 16 upon his arrest, he was searched and found in possession of a ZNA military police identity card in the name of Thilli Adnico and a ZNA ID in the name of Pride N Elate Mutembedza.
The court also heard he impersonated Norman Chimuka, who is a lawyer.
On count 21, during the period from January 2021 to July 2021, the accused in the company of his accomplices committed a spate of armed robbery cases in greater Harare and used the proceeds to buy an Audi A4.

By A Correspondent- A violently possessive husband beat and critically injured his wife with stones until she collapsed at their home in Pumula South.
Thulani Lunga used stones to repeatedly bash Silungile Tshalibe screaming accusations like “How dare you touch my phone”, sources said.
According to sources trouble began when Tshalibe opened Lunga’s phone and found some love messages while he was asleep.
“She then awoke her husband intending to confront him. When Lunga woke up he immediately started assaulting Tshalibe with fists several times on the face.
“Fearing for her life Tshalibe exited the house and an angry Lunga followed. He picked stones and hit her several times all over the body until she collapsed,” said the source.
Lunga reportedly fled from the scene when a neighbour rushed to his house, leaving his bloodied wife behind while shocked witnesses attended to Tshalibe.
Neighbours in Pumula South where the couple lives said Lunga was abusive and a heavy drinker, though his wife was a devoted wife and mother.
“She is a really good lady, and a mom who is very dedicated to her children. It’s terrible that she has to go through so much abuse,” said a woman from the neighbourhood.
When Lunga re-appeared Tshalibe filed for a protection order.
“I am tired of being abused by my husband and now I am scared he is going to kill me. He is also promiscuous and every time I ask him about his girlfriends he gets angry and becomes violent,” read part of Tshalibe’s court documents.
Investing in parallel voter tabulation (PVT) processes is key towards safeguarding the people’s vote and enhancing electoral activity, an independent election watchdog said drawing from Zambia’s recent elections.
The country’s elections have been marred with disputes, amid widespread claims of rigging and manipulation of the results.
The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (Zesn) in its report after observing Zambia’s elections said the country can draw lessons from that country’s elections as it mentioned PVT as a necessary tool to prevent rigging.
A PVT, sometimes called a Quick Count, is a proven election observation methodology employed by nonpartisan citizen observers to independently verify official election results.
A PVT is based on a systematic assessment of voting and counting processes.
“The time between the closing of polling stations and the announcement of results remains a very sensitive period within an electoral cycle, results need to be announced as soon as they are verified by the Commission to ease tensions that inevitably build up when the announcement of results is delayed,” the ZESN said,
“Political parties need to deploy their agents comprehensively so that their respective parties can comment authoritatively on electoral processes. PVT can contribute toward enhancing electoral integrity by providing quick updates on ongoing electoral processes and also by verifying the election result.”
Experts argue PVT’s are necessary in reducing uncertainty from the election environment by providing careful analysis of observer findings while increasing public confidence in well-run elections.
Opposition MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa still disputes the 2018 presidential election outcome as rigged in favour of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In Zimbabwe, elections remain suspended as a Covid-19 preventive measure.
“The elections in Zambia, as witnessed in other parts of the world, are yet again proof that it is possible to conduct elections in the middle of a serious pandemic. Democracy, not the COVID-19 must have a final say,” Zesn added.
TITLE: “Everyone must vote to effect Zambia type regime change” – how will 3 m in diaspora denied vote, vote.
By Patrick Guramatunhu- “Unorasiswa chirimuruoko, chirimuropa unofa nacho!” (Poison in your hand can be thrown away, if it is in your blood, it will kill you.) So goes a Shona adage!
Some Zimbabweans have it in the heads that Zimbabwe can replicate Zambia’s election success and finally achieve the long-awaited regime change!
“The Zambians mastered and mapped out strategies which I believe are: – Massive voter registration, mainly first-time voters and the youth; – Commitment to go and cast a ballot by every citizen eligible to vote; and – Defend and protection of vote by the youth,” argued National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA) Executive Chairman Eng. Mugari Joelson.
“Everyone must go and vote. The first and most important step is the voter registration process. Political parties are taking a back seat in their push for electoral reforms. Citizens are not interested in any further disputed election results.”
Mugari and his NERA friends are supposed to be championing electoral reforms! They are arguing people to register to vote, to protect the vote, etc. and none of these activities have anything to do with electoral reforms. Indeed, they have abandoned the call for reforms and are convinced the democratic changes the nation has been dying for all these years can be achieved without implementing any democratic reforms.
“Everyone must go and vote!” How naïve!
Mnangagwa has just decided that the 3 million plus Zimbabweans in the diaspora will, once again, be denied the right to vote. So, “everyone” does not include those in the diaspora! Mnangagwa supposedly won the 2018 elections with a total of 2.4 million votes or 50.8% of the cast votes. How can the election be legal, free, fair and credible when 3 out of 8 potential voters are denied the vote?
Even those Zimbabweans in the country have been routinely denied the vote. For those in the opposition strongholds, it is near impossible to register as a voter. If you managed to jump through all the hoops and register; you will find your name is not even on the voters’ roll or it is in the wrong polling station voters’ roll. Hundreds of thousands of ordinary Zimbabwe have failed to vote for no fault of their own.
ZEC is legally obliged to produce a verified voters’ roll at least one calendar month before nomination day. ZEC has never ever produced a verified voters’ roll in the 41 years of the country’s independence.
The EU Election Observer Mission reported that the 2018 elections lacked “transparency, traceability and verifiability”, not surprising when there is no verified voters’ roll, and that ZEC lacked independence. The Mission report gave a list of democratic reforms that should implemented to ensure future elections are free, fair and credible and not just a repeat past rigged elections.
Zanu PF has not implemented even one meaningful reform from the EU Mission report. Not one! Zanu PF has found allies in this from the country’s opposition parties and their acolytes such as NERA who have pushed the counter narrative that Zimbabwe can have it all without implementing any reforms.
Mnangagwa is not a cunning devil like Mugabe; far from it. Still, he is smart enough to know Zanu PF would lose its iron grip on power if he implemented any democratic reforms. And, so has been as keen as mustard in encouraging the opposition, NERA, etc. to forget about reforms and participate in elections regardless how flawed and illegal the process happened to be.
Ever since the 2013 elections, Zanu PF has offered a few gravy train seats, a share of the annual Political Party Finance Act pay-out and, Mnangagwa’s new attraction, generous perks to all presidential candidates who join POLAD. The perks to POLAD members are to buy their silence and to entice them and others to join the 2023 rat race.
There were 23 presidential candidates alone in the 2018 elections; proof, as far as Mnangagwa is concerned, the elections were free, fair and credible. He has argued that the opposition politicians would not participate in such huge numbers otherwise!
Instead of Zanu PF getting its political mandate from winning the majority votes in legal, free, fair and credible elections; the party is getting its legitimacy from the participation of corrupt opposition politicians.
Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends should have paid heed to the SADC leaders’ advice to postpone the 2013 elections until reforms were implemented. MDC leaders ignored the warning and Zanu PF went on to blatantly rig the 2013 and 2018 elections. To argue that we go into the 2023 elections with no reforms is insane!
Zanu PF has had more than 40 years to systematically erode the independence of the nation’s democratic institutions, corrupt them and turn them into party departments in all but name. It is naïve to expect ZEC, Police, etc. to deliver the people’s right to free and fair elections when these institutions’ number one priority now is ensuring there is no regime change at all costs!
Now that some people have it in the heads that Zambia effected regime change with no reforms, they think it must be possible to do the same in Zimbabwe regardless of the corrupt state institutions! Asking them to throw away that idea is going to be a real challenge!
“Everyone must go and vote!” Yeah right! Tell that to the 3 million in the diaspora have just been told they will, once again, be denied the vote, for no reason other than to safeguard the “no regime change”.
By A Correspondent| After exploding during a recent interview accusing DJ Shugeta of cheating on her, Anna Chibaby Honde has turned around saying she now misses him.
Anna Chibaby Honde and Tafadzwa Shugeta made headlines when they went public with their love affair, so was their break up which also dominated social media conversations.
The two socialites’ breakup had its fair share of drama as they counter accused each other of cheating and all sorts of things.
But Anna Chibaby Honde has made a U-turn, confessing to missing Shugeta.
“Thinking that the military are just wearing overalls (military gear) for Chamisa to just rule, fear God” George Charamba tweeted.
By Patrick Guramatunhu- MDC had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms including reforms of the military, Police, CIO and Prison Services; sadly, the golden opportunity was wasted because not even one reform was ever implemented in five years. Zanu PF was gloriously happy that no reforms ever saw the light of day and have since been boasting about their dictatorial powers.
Can Zimbabwe ever have free, fair and credible elections without first implementing the democratic reforms designed to cut the umbilical cord tying Zanu PF to the Army, Police, etc.? The answer has to be an emphatic NO!
SADC leaders advised Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends not to participate in the 2013 elections without first implementing the democratic reforms. The MDC leaders did not listen and have participated in Zimbabwe’s flawed elections, so flawed the MDC never had any real chance of winning the majority for them to form the new government. MDC leaders participated to give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and a share of the spoils of power in the form of a few gravy train seats, as their reward.
When Emmerson Mnangagwa seized power from Mugabe in 2017 he was cocksure he was going to kick-start the Zimbabwe economic. He was cocksure investors would flood into the country is answer to his “Zimbabwe is open for business!” clarion call! No investors came because they are shrewd lot who know that the musical chair challenges following the November 2017 military could had changed nothing in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe was a Banana Republic ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs before the coup; the same thugs were in power after the coup. Nothing had changed! Zimbabwe’s worsening economic situation means Zanu PF will have to resort to the same wanton violence as that seen in 2008 to force people to vote for the party. Charamba’s tweet is a shot across the bow!
The truth with 49% of the population now living in abject poverty, the nation’s education and health care services all but totally collapsed the nation is desperate for change.
Desperate people will do desperate things, the threat of the country descend into chaos and civil protests in now a matter of time.
The nation is now deeply regretting the wasted opportunities to implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship. This is not the time for feeling sorry for ourselves and cry over spilt milk. However, this is the right time to finally acknowledge that MDC leaders are corrupt and incompetent and, most important of all, to acknowledge they are the last people the nation must look up to, to get out of this mess.
The way forward, the sure way to manage both the Zanu PF threat of violence and the threat of civil violence through street protests, is to demand the implementation of the democratic reforms designed to end Zanu PF’s draconian powers.
The 2023 elections must be postponed until the reforms are implemented. Both Zanu PF and MDC would want the 2023 elections to go ahead with no reforms in place; this is just foolish designed to give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy with nothing of substance to be gained as the 2013 and 2018 elections have shown.
An interim administration must be appointment to implement the democratic reforms. The very fact that MDC and Zanu PF failed to implement any reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU does not mean the reforms are not important; they are important. Indeed, we are up to our eyes in this mess precisely because it was folly to have kicked the reforms down the road all these years.
Just because MDC and Zanu PF failed to implement even one reform does not mean there are no men and women who can do this; there are plenty who can!
Time is of the essence; we must appoint the interim administration a.s.a.p. or the events on the ground will overwhelm us all!

By A Correspondent- People who have submitted applications for land to the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement should be prepared to wait for up to 10 years or more before they are allocated farms.
This was said by Lands Minister Anxious Masuka during a question and answer session in Parliament while responding to questions from MDC Alliance legislators.
The opposition legislators had vented their frustration on what they felt was a slow pace at which land applications were being handled.
Masuka stated that the bulk of the land had been taken up and there were no more unoccupied farms.
He said the Government was coming up with another strategy to open a window allowing those interested in land to be allocated.
Said Masuka:
There is no guarantee that if someone applies for land today, two months down the line or after 10 years, he will get it.
We have 2 500 applications who want land for the 99 per cent given to people. There is no additional land.
Masuka said the government was now looking for derelict, abandoned land or underutilised or multiple farmers from which to procure land for those who have applied for it.
By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa reportedly made a phone call to Zambia’s outgoing president Edgar Lungu to step aside for the sake of peace in the country and SADC region after he had lost to opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) candidate Hakainde Hichilema.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia on Monday announced Hichilema the winner in the hotly contested 12 August poll after he secured more than 2.8 million votes, while Lungu of the Patriotic Front (PF) was in second place with over 1.8 million votes from 155 of 156 constituencies that were up for grabs.
Posting on Twitter this Thursday, Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet (Presidential Communications), George Charamba, said it was Mnangagwa who persuaded Lungu not to dig in but surrender power to his rival.
According to Charamba, Mnangagwa revealed this while addressing ZANU PF supporters on arrival in Mutare on Thursday morning where he is set to officially open an oxygen production plant established by Verify Engineering (VE) located at Feruka Oil Refinery in the eastern border town.
Said Charamba:
Upon arrival, His Excellency briefed his supporters on the just-ended SADC. He, for the first time, disclosed that he phoned the outgoing Zambian President, President Edgar Lungu, to persuade him to make way for the winner, President-Elect, Hichilema, to secure peace in the country and region.
Mnangagwa also poked fun at the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance for celebrating the opposition victory in Zambia, saying an opposition in Zimbabwe will never happen.
Added Charamba:
Turning to opposition members who dream of the same happening in Zimbabwe, the ZANU-PF leader urged such dreamers to come back to their senses!! Vamuke vabike doro!!!! (they should wake up from their nightmare and pray to their ancestors).
A married man has written to columnist and prolific SCOAN Survivor and whistleblower of 13 years, Bisola Johnson, saying his wife got infected with HIV after visiting the late TB Joshua, a few months before his death.
The man made his first contact with Johnson providing initial details after the ZimEye program around the time of the proven woman serial abuser’s death in June.
the June program…
The rest of the detail is revealed in the subtext.
Onr case of sexual abuse is a verified case of a Zimbabwean woman, Angela Charakupa who the Nigerian preacher was recorded trying to disrupt the victim’s court case raised initially against Joshua’s mentee Walter Magaya.

???? Mama I saw ur Interview on U Tube. Now I am concerned about de Synagogue advise to people. I am …. from SA: What makes me corncend is dat my wife is HIV Positive while I am HIV negative despite have intimate contact with her after many years. People are saying eventually I will be infected in future.
Anyway with all dis my wife visited SCOAN in April dis year and Evangelist Chris told her dat she must stop sleeping with me untill she is healed and make sure dis does not happen even if it means de end of our marriage or else she will die.
Now dats were I have a problem with. When she is adiviced to divorce me for de sake of her health. So in a way it sort of confirms my suspicions about SCOAN.
I DONT KNOW MAMA! DO U THINK DE ADVICE WAS CORRECT?
MY TAKE
YOU MUST not divorce your husband or wife because of health challenges. You can have protected sex, that is why condoms is in the market. And if she is under Medicare and using her antiretroviral religiously, it will get to a point where her CD4 count will be boosted and her viral load would go down drastically, at this time, the couple can come together even plan having children under care of your medical councilor. Remember also your prayers to God. What is going on in the Synagogue is evil and the reason the Synagogue church branch in UK was shut down by the UK government when 6 people died there.
Evans Momberume, the man accused of abusing 14 year old Memory Machaya who died during child birth has been arrested after being charged with having sex with a minor.
He is set to appear before the Mutare Magistrates Court today.
By A Correspondent- The second deportation charter flight to Zimbabwe from the United Kingdom (UK) has been confirmed for 25 August, according to a key campaigner.
Dozens of Zimbabwean nationals are being held in Brook House Immigration Removal Centre and face removal from the UK.
Some of those set for deportation from the UK were convicted of serious crimes including murder and dealing in illicit drugs.
Speaking to The Voice, Zita Holbourne, co-founder and national co-chair of BARAC UK, said some Zimbabwean nationals have already been served removal directions.
She said:
The date has been confirmed as there are people in detention who have been given removal notices.
Holbourne said many of those who were taken off the first charter flight to Zimbabwe last month, have been held in detention and now face removal again.
In July, a charter flight to Harare left with only 14 people on board after several legal challenges.
The flight was originally expected to have approximately 50 Zimbabwean nationals on board.
According to Holbourne, this is just the beginning of a “series of deportations that the government will be implementing.”
She explained one of those facing removal, came to the UK at eight years old and had refugee status before it was revoked.
Campaigners have argued deportations to Zimbabwe should be postponed until the country has stabilised after recent political and social unrest.

Java had at the time been called upon to explain himself when he rushed to insult the discussion guest who was on a ZimEye program.
Impecable sources explain how Java was late afternoon seen hiring the two sex workers *names not given, for a hotel meet up and got a taxi driver to drive them over, unbeknown to him that the workers he consulted are Zimbabweans.
It was not clear at the time of writing, that the sex workers were for the purpose of performing the immoral bedroom toil, or for something else.

The Zimbabwean constitution of 2013 stipulates, among other qualifications, that anyone who has attained the age of forty years, and it does not specify the maximum age limit.
Age is believed to be one of the factors that affect one’s ability to execute duties and responsibilities.
The constitution states that a president can be removed from office if he or she is unable to “perform the functions of the office because of physical or mental incapacity.”
The issue of age is said to have played a big role in the demise of Mugabe as he made a chain of miscellaneous blunders towards the end of his political career.

By A Correspondent- The Nelson Chamisa led MDC-Alliance has invaded Zanu PF’s strongholds where the party is making headways in mobilising voters for the forthcoming elections.
The party’s secretary for rural mobilisation and strategy, Happymore Chidziva said they are convincing the electorate to dump Zanu PF in the rural areas.
Chidziva said although they were behind in mobilising rural votes ahead of the 2023 elections, the new methods of penetrating rural areas will shock Zanu PF come election day.
“Yes, these are difficult times. Time is not on our side. We must move with what we have. The truth is that a desire for change is pushing our people. The main resource that we need is the will to win,” Chidziva said.
In 2018, Chidziva became an MP after winning the Highfield West parliamentary seat.
However, he was recalled from Parliament last year by the MDC T led by Douglas Mwonzora. The MDC-T recalled more than 40 MDC Alliance MPs and about 80 councillors throughout the country.
“We are deepening our links, strengthening our rural networks and spreading all over. We can’t ventilate our strategies in public. We obey COVID-19 protocols, but they don’t prevent us from moving to voters, even if it means door-to-door,” he said.

By A Correspondent- ZUPCO buses have now become havens of sexual abuse with young women being the most targets
Female students at the University of Zimbabwe who have experienced sexual harassment in the buses on their way to the college said the authorities needed to look into this issue urgently.
Acknowledge Mawere, spokesperson for Observe Our Rights Group, said they had encountered many women and girls who had been abused at ZUPCO buses pick-up points.
“From the interviews and researches we have done so far, women and girls are telling us that since there is usually a lot of pressure and a lot of people trying to get into the buses at times some men touch their private parts and other sensitive parts of their bodies,” said Mawere.
He added: “There is also an issue of conductors, drivers and monitors demanding to date young school girls to secure them a seat.”
Mawere urged ZUPCO officials to create a women-friendly environment in the ZUPCO spaces.
“It would be best if the Government can bring in more buses so as to curb this scourge because it is at ZUPCO ranks where some ruthless, inhuman shameless and corrupt men are opportunistically abusing women and taking advantage of young girls who are desperate to travel timeously.

Jamwanda thinks Zimbabwe is Emmerson Mnangagwa’s little fiefdom.
Such people are just a bunch of war deserters whose only intention is to soil the legacy of the liberation struggle.
They have been corrupted by stolen mandate and power hence they think Zimbabwe is their personal property.
Genuine war veterans know that there is no power that is greater than people power because they saw what happened to Ian Smith after his infamous “no black majority rule in a thousand years time.”
Unfortunately, those that are arrogant in face of the freedom train will be crushed when the hour has come. Indeed that hour is upon us!
ANALYSIS | The state owned Herald newspaper has reported that an Australian shelf company with no assets, once said to be owned by white investors, in fact belongs to the government of Zimbabwe.
The matter adds confusion to claims that the entity is a real addition to the national domestic product.
The full piece cites the minister responsible, Amon Murwira who has a pile of promised investment projects whose owners have failed to being in any funds into the country contrary to flashing headlines. One of them is a diesel from coal project which was said would wipe out the country’s fuel problems. 3 years later, ZimEye reveals the investor does not even have $5,000 in his bank account.
The article however celebrates the development saying:
In yet another hallmark of the Second Republic reform and development agenda, President Mnangagwa is today expected to officially commission the multi-million dollar medical oxygen and industrial gas plant at Feruka in Mutare, which has a capacity to meet national needs with room for exporting.
Dovetailing into President Mnangagwa mantra of building the country stone by stone, the oxygen plant that was developed by a wholly owned Government company with local engineers and technicians, also demonstrates the success of the National Development Strategy-1 which among other issues aims at retooling and capacitating the country’s industries to meet world standards.
Wholly State-owned company Verify Engineering built the plant in a demonstration of the Second Republic’s quest to see a highly industrialised Zimbabwe using locally available resources.
In an interview, Minister of Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Professor Amon Murwira, under whose purview HIT falls said all is set for Zimbabwe to enter a new and exciting phase where it meets its oxygen requirements.
“All is set for the launch by President Mnangagwa tomorrow (today). This is a technology and development entity under the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary, which will be processing medical and industrial gases. The plant is now done and we are looking forward for the production of nitrogen and oxgyen,” he said.
Outlining how the project was completed, Prof Murwira recently said his Ministry got the direction on the way forward from President Mnangagwa.
“The President gives direction on what needs to be done and we teach it at our institutions. A nation is built intentionally, not by accident. Once a nation is able to implement its own programmes, you cannot stop that nation.”
Prof Murwira said the President gave the national strategic intention, in Zimbabwe’s case achieving an upper middle income economy under Vision 2030.
The oxygen plant will among other needs, meet the demand for hospital oxygen in intensive care units, especially by critically ill Covid-19 patients.Verify Engineering operates under the Harare Institute of Technology.
Although the project was started in 2005, it stalled because of lack of resources. But with the onset of the Second Republic, adequate resources were channelled into this important national project resulting in its recent completion.
In an interview last week, Verify Engineering board chairman, Air Commodore Engineer Dr Edgar Kamusoko, said the completion of the medical energy and industrial gas plant was a demonstration that Zimbabwean engineers had the capacity to do the needed work and contribute to the industrialisation of the country.
“Verify Engineering is a wholly State-owned company meant to develop innovations and technology for the development of Zimbabwe. It is under the Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Ministry and we are contributing towards the success of the Education 5.0 policy through the component of innovation and technological development. Our sole aim is to see the industrialisation of Zimbabwe.
“The completion of this project is a clear demonstration of the capacity we have internally as Zimbabwe to develop our own economy,” said Eng Kamusoko.
“The completion of the medical oxygen plant was a big milestone as this will go a long way in scaling up the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Our health sector is in critical need of medical oxygen and we have the production capacity to meet our national requirements as well as export to neighbouring countries.”
Besides the medical supplies the company is also providing the oxy-acetylene welding supplies, important in the fabrication industry and the only way of welding away from a good electricity supply.
To ensure that the medical oxygen reaches the hospitals and others who need it, the company had already imported 5 000 cylinders with a further 5 000 set to arrive in the country soon. Eng Kamusoko hailed the support the company received from the Government.
“This project was wholly funded by Government and it is manned by Zimbabwean engineers and technicians. The completion of this project also demonstrates Government’s commitment to develop its own technology and industries.
The company is also working on other projects that include the establishment of a coal-to-fertiliser plant and coal-to-fuel plant in Lisulu, Hwange.
The company has designed a pilot plant capable of producing 5 000 litres of fuel a day, synthesised using an iron based-catalyst. It has commissioned an air separation unit and is now constructing an acetylene plant.
Oxy-acetylene welding is common when electricity is not available for arc-welding and is critical for a great deal of metalwork done in areas not on the national grid, while being useful in other areas.
Zimbabwe has defied odds to mount a thorough and effective response to the Covid-19 pandemic and has managed to minimise the effects of the disease on its citizenry.
Zimbabwe had been importing most of the materials needed to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic but by the end of last year, NatPharm reported that more than 70 percent of the equipment needed to respond to the virus was now being manufactured locally.
Meanwhile, 2 years ago, the Operations Manager of another fuel project, Nkosikhona Holdings came on ZimEye to apologise to the nation. By Ryan Chinyangare| To Nkosikhona Holdings and the Republic of Zimbabwe, I would like to express my sincerest apologies for the shame and embarrassment that I brought on the CTX Project and all the stakeholders in the media report released in Dec 2018.
I accept that this act was against the greater good and I should have put the interests of the nation before my own. I deeply regret the course of action I chose to take. It is with due respect that I ask for forgiveness from Nkosikhona Holdings a consortium member of Magcor International and the Government of Zimbabwe through the Ministry of Higher & Tertiary Education, Science and Technology for prematurely trying to evoke my commission agreement payment last year I was of the view that after my work with Nkosikhona Holdings and Magcor International in helping them secure the 55,2 Billion dollar CTX Project, on my exit it was rightfully so that I would be paid immediately.
However the plans may have changed after the team’s trip to China and the project has taken a different route. I can confidently confirm that this project is bigger and greater than my personal gains and as such I would like to apologize to Hon. Minister Murwira, one of he most honorable men I have come to know together with the Verify Engineering Executive members, especially Eng Tapfumanei.
Without favor I can confidently say these are patriotic men who I speak in high regard because of their integrity and work ethics. I strongly believe I rushed into taking action against Nkosikhona Holdings a Consortium Member of Magcor International without understanding the dynamic facts of the project.
I strongly believe Nkosikhona Holdings,7 a Consortium Member of Magcor International will not runaway from its due responsibility of paying my commission and as such I see it fit, that I take a step back and allow them to work on this prestigious project that is futuristic which will help & benefit Zimbabwe in the future.
I worked for Nkosikhona Holdings – the executive is one to be respected and be trusted.
They work with honour, love and passion at the same time identifying each other as family despite the different nationalities. It was an honour working with them and I regret the damage that I may have caused to the reputation of this reputable consortium.
It’s also in the view that I would like to personal ask for forgiveness from Mr GM Rousseau and Mike Glynn (Prmident/Founden Magcor International whom I also had the pleasure of working with and I also view with great regard as honorable men.
I should also indicate that my apology is not because I have received any money, but it’s after the realization that Zimbabwe comes first.
Ryan Chinyangare – Former Nkosikhona Holdings Operations Manager.
Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has rubbished reports claiming he might move to Paris Saint Germain or his former club Real Madrid, describing them as ‘just talk.’
Spanish media was awash with reports linking the five-time World Player of the Year, with PSG and Los Blancos.
It was claimed that PSG, who recently signed Ronaldo’s fierce rival Lionel Messi from Barcelona, are planning to sell French sensation Kylian Mbappe and replace him with ‘CR7’.
The same reports claimed that Real coach Carlo Ancellotti wants to reunite with the 36-year old in the Spanish capital, having worked with him in his first stint between 2013-2015.
Ronaldo took to Instagram to vehemently-deny those reports.
“Anyone who knows me is aware of how focused I am on my work. Less talk and more action, this has been my guiding motto since the start of my career. However, in view of everything that’s been said and written recently, I have to set out my position,” he wrote.
“More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way that my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumours, as well as to their players and staff.
“My story at Real Madrid has been written. It’s been recorded. In words and numbers, in trophies and titles, in records and in headlines. It’s in the Museum at the Bernabeu Stadium and it’s also in the minds of every fan of the club. And beyond what I achieved, I remember that in those nine years I had a relationship of deep affection and respect for “merengue afición”, an affection and respect that I retain to this day, and that I will always cherish. I know that the true Real Madrid fans will continue to have me in their hearts, and I will have them in mine.”
“As well as this most recent episode in Spain, there have been frequent news and stories associating me with a number of clubs in many different Leagues, with nobody ever being concerned about trying to find out the actual truth.”
I’m breaking my silence now to say that I can’t allow people to keep playing around with my name. I remain focused on my career and in my work, committed and prepared for all the challenges that I have to face. Everything else? Everything else is just talk.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
In a bizarre twist of events, copper cables and windings weighing 485 kilograms worth around US $29 000 were recovered by the Zimbabwe Republic Police on Tuesday, after the alleged suspects crashed a vehicle they were using to transport the contraband near a police station in Mabelreign.
Two suspects, Valentine Peki and Christine Muvirimi of Budiriro and Glennorah high density suburbs respectively, sustained serious injuries after ramming their Nissan Caravan into a tree around 0300hrs in the morning.
Upon attending to the accident scene, the police discovered the copper.
Commenting, ZESA Provincial Manager for Harare Abel Gurupira said he hoped the current review of the copper Act would help curtail thefts.
Cabinet recently approved the proposed Copper Control Amendment Bill which, among other things, proposes a mandatory 30-year jail term for copper thieves. The Bill seeks to make it illegal for anyone to posses copper without a certificate of origin.
“Cabinet was informed that the Bill seeks to provide for the offence of vandalism of utilities through the theft of copper which is then sold on the back market,” Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said in March.
“In order to curb the theft of copper, the police will require anyone found in possession of copper to provide the names and addresses of both, the seller and purchaser, description and quantity of the copper and reasons for disposal. Convicted copper thieves will now be liable to imprisonment for a period of not less than 30 years without the option of a fine. In addition, any vehicle or device used to illegally transport copper will now be forfeited to the state.”

The Zhombe community has intervened to stop the marriage of a 13-year-old girl to a 21-year-old man after her family married her off recently due to hunger.
The girl who cannot be named had to be rescued from the “in-laws” after having stayed there for some days following the intervention of the community.
According to the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the legal age of consent for sexual activity is 16, while the minimum age for marriage is 18.
A former junior councillor got wind of the matter and raised alarm leading to the intervention of the community.
The villagers led by the traditional leaders enlisted the services of the police to rescue the girl.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the development, saying investigations are ongoing. He said:
I can confirm that we are handling a case in Zhombe involving an underage girl who had been married off by her family.
We have since intervened and as I speak to you, she is now back at her parents’ home.
For now, I cannot give you finer details because we are still carrying out investigations.
The incident occurred under Chief Gwesela in Zhombe who confirmed handling the case at his traditional court. The traditional leader said:
There are actually two different cases that are almost similar. The first one is that one which you are talking about of a family that tried to marry off their daughter due to hunger.
They have since appeared before my court and I have fined both the family that tried to marry off their daughter and the family that accepted the child as their daughter-in-law.
Chief Gwesela said in the second case, the girl was lured into marriage by a gold panner.
He said he fined both families again and ordered the girl to be taken back to her family.
Chief Gwesela said he will not allow the abuse of young girls in his area.

By A Correspondent- Former Information Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo said President Emmerson Mnangagwa was way older than he claims.
The exiled former cabinet minister said anonymous sources told him that Mnangagwa was born in 1942 and not 1946 as he claims.
” Some who were with him in Zambia, and were born in Sept 1938, say they used to have joint birthday parties with him. In the 1980s/90s, press reports said he was born in Sept 1942. Now he says he was born in 1946. Truth is he’s turning 83 next month!,” Jonso posted on his Twitter handle Wednesday evening.

By A Correspondent- Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda and Justice Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi, have defended Home Affairs Minister from answering why they are delaying expediting investigations into the death of a 14-year-old girl, Memory Machaya.
Parliament on Tuesday heard that the police, which falls under Kazembe’s portfolio, was failing to pin down a Mutare based member of the Johanne Marange Apostolic sect who is behind the young girl’s death.
The girl, who had been forced out of school, had allegedly been married off to one of the sect members and died while giving birth on July 15.
She was allegedly buried secretly about two hours after her death by members of the church.
Opposition Proportional Representative Member of Parliament, Mrs Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga, had called upon Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe to issue a Ministerial Statement regarding progress on the case.
But Kazembe was saved by Justice and Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, who said it was premature for him to come and answer.
Misihairambwi was concerned about law enforcement agencies’ delay and apparent inaction in arresting persons responsible for marrying off the child and the man who married and impreg_nated her.
“It’s not as straightforward as what the Honourable Member might think. Indeed, the Government is doing a lot, and investigations are continuing. Initially, there was no cooperation by the whole of that community to the extent that the police were not told about where she was buried.
“Police need to get to the bottom of the matter, but they are facing a lot of resistance from the whole of that community. It is too early for the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage to give a statement, but once investigations are complete, he will bring a statement,” said Ziyambi.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda concurred, saying there was a need to give police time before a comprehensive statement was issued.
Earlier on, Mrs Misihairabwi-Mushonga had said it was worrying that the Government had not said anything on an incident of such a nature.
“The abuse of children within that particular sect has been known, and it is worrying that something of that nature happens publicly and there is nothing that has happened,” said Mrs Misihairabwi-Mushonga.
Police have said they are conducting thorough investigations to bring the culprits to book.
