ZACC Arrests 103 People

Loice-Matanda-Moyo

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) has arrested 103 people for corruption, it has emerged.

The revelations were made by Zacc’s chairperson, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo who praised whistle-blowers who she said played a big part in the arrest of 103 corruption accused persons in the past six months.

In a statement to commemorate World Whistleblowers Day last Thursday, the Zacc boss said clamping down on corruption in the country was going to be a tough proposition without the input of whistle-blowers.

“Zacc has managed to make 103 arrests for corruption in 2021 alone. Seventy-nine (79) dockets from these arrests have already been submitted to the National Prosecuting Authority for prosecution. Without the whistle-blowers, Zacc would not have achieved these figures,” she said.

The Zacc chairperson however, bemoaned the inexistence of legislation to protect whistle-blowers, revealing that they were being harassed after coming forward with vital information exposing corruption.

“As the world commemorates this important day, Zacc urges policymakers to expedite the enactment of the whistle-blowers’ legislation. Already, Zacc has received reports of victimisation of whistle-blowers that are vital to the nation’s fight against corruption.

“The Commission is advocating for the necessary policy and legal environment that fully protects whistle-blowers.

Part of these efforts include drafting a Lay Bill which has been submitted to the Attorney General’s Office. We are fully confident that this piece of legislation will be enacted into law sooner rather than later,” said Justice Matanda-Moyo.

She revealed that the anti-graft body has since come up with an online whistle-blower reporting application to ensure that whistle-blowers can report corruption.

“The application is designed to ensure full anonymity of the whistle-blowers. This year alone, the Commission has received 88 anonymous reports on corrupt activities via this platform. To the whistle-blowers, always remember that speaking up against corruption is crucial for a just world,” said Justice Matanda-Moyo. -Sunday Mail

Tribute To Misheck Marimo Chidzambwa

By Japhet Short Cat Mparutsa

Death comes to rob us of our joy but we should always cherish the good times too.

I am devasted by the death of Legend Misheck Marimo, Mukoma “Scania”.

I played with Misheck for close to years, first for Dynamos and in the National Team. He was my captain and the last line of defence before any striker would take a shot.

We had good moments when he bailed me out but there were akward moments as well. Like the match in Senegal when Bocande terrorised us. I also remember the “bullet” own goal he scored against me when we played against Jet of Algeria. I have never seen such a shot..

Yes we were in the trenches together, the up and downs, we stuck together. I strongly feel that anyone who played for the National Team for such a long time deserves a small pension. For Misheck it was never to be but it is never too late to think about these things.

We also need a Hall Of Fame a matter of urgency. Let us honour our legends while they are still alive. Misheck deserved this honour.

1.Captained Zimbabwe Warriors to maiden trophy.. The Cecafa Trophy in 1985.

  1. Won the first Cosafa Trophy for the Nation in 2000 as a coach.

This is rich history and it must be cherished. Zifa must lead the way.

Misheck served and like others that have served, he deserves his recognition.

As we celebrate his life, let us share our memories of the Big Man.

Go well Legend Misheck Marimo (Chidzambwa), memories are for ever cherished!!

Stay Blessed.

The Greatest Threat To Zanu Pf Revealed

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | The conceptualization of factionalism in political parties takes a different view if we consider its importance in a democratic environment. Following an ugly encounter with the ugly face of factionalism in the party, one can argue that the analytical approach based on typologies and categories of subparty groups is not very useful in explaining intra-party behaviour and the process of change because, by their nature, these are static tools.

Factionalism must be clearly distinguished from tribalism. We have senior party members who have mistaken the devolution to mean tribalism. We have senior government leaders who wreck Hanock in their provinces attacking some members of the party because they were not born in that province. These misguided politicians who have risen on the benevolence of the head of state start believing that they are the party themselves. They create their lines of shallowness and pass it as factionalism yet it is clear tribalism. Those who shed blood for this country did it for the country not for tribes not for a province. So all provinces are equal and people must not be dealt with on provincial lines.
Tribalism is not factionalism.
We must learn from the MDC. Factionalism destroyed the MDC and it is now writhing from its devastation and leaking it’s wounds to the great advantage of ZANU PF.
Building on the events in ZANU PF we focus on intra-party dynamics instead of organizational forms of faction. Factionalism should be viewed in non-exclusive terms, i.e. as a dynamic process of subgroup partitioning. It is a multifaceted phenomenon that can transform itself over time in response to incentives. Based on the events in ZANU PF we identify three main faces of factionalism: cooperative, competitive and degenerative.

It is suggested that the process of change may occur in a cycle that contributes to party disintegration, as illustrated by the current events in some provinces which imploded in the nasty personal fight under the centrifugal pulls of its factions. If it’s not checked factionalism will destroy the unity of the party. As accepted by the acting ZANU PF NPC cde Chinamasa factionalism in Manicaland is rearing its ugly head and is threatening the party. If this is not attended to the party will lose. In Chipinge during the 2018 elections some members of ZANU PF campaigned for the opposition just to make sure that Cde Win Mlambo loses. The result did not injure cde Mlambo but it injured the party. If factionalism tribalism and selfishness is not dealt with now the party will face challenges.

It is true to say factionalism is a fact of life within most political parties and mostly divided in ethnic or tribal grounds.

Political parties are not monolithic structures but collective entities in which competition, divided opinions and dissent create internal pressures. In turn, these pressures often trigger the formation of factions that render the party divided. This needs a leadership with a free focussed mind to handle this scourge.

Although widespread, factionalism is still a relatively under-studied phenomenon. In political grounds of Zimbabwe it is not a new beginning. From ZANU PF to the opposition factionalism has raised its ugly head but never has it threatened to destroy the ruling party but poses as a weakening point. However, this analytical approach has turned out to be a bit of a minefield.

However, with a static view of factionalism in ZANU PF it cannot capture group dynamics and explain the process of change. It has failed to provide convincing and parsimonious answers to key questions, such as why some political parties contain factions while ZANU PF struggles with it why factions become embedded inside some parties but not in others, and why factionalism grows and transforms over time.
People always forget that they are not bigger than the party. They dwell on the powers bestowed on them by the people and believe that they are powerful. This belief creates a ring fence around the ego of those who will create a faction.
Factionalism is a sign of power struggle and the power will always tilt to one side so all those practicing factionalism will prophecy to do this in the name of the president. Factionalism in most cases results in the name of the president being abused.
Those who follow these factions end up being cheer leaders and boot lickers. Bootlicking destroys the party it creates leaders who cannot smell beyond their nose. They can only go as far as the voices of the bootlickers and praise singers. Bootlicking has never been part of ZANU PF and those introducing it must grow up.

It is argued that factionalism is a multifaceted phenomenon which can transform itself over time in response to incentives. The incentives are mostly the need for positions of influence in the party. Factionalism is a total abuse of democracy. Mostly people form groups of like mind in order to wrestle the power from the incumbent. In this vein, the effects of factionalism are felt heavily in the government functions. The factious cabinet which can not work together as a unit sabotages the core business of the day. The fight for party positions spreads as cancer to the government business. Surely it is the innocent masses who suffer while the factious buffoons are feeling their bellies at the expense of the electorate.
Factionalism ignores the impact of institutions such as electoral systems and bicameralism on the career motivations and strategic behaviour of politicians. It only concentrates on the selfish ends which benefits individuals. What the factionalist chose to ignore is that nobody is bigger than the party.
The intra-party dissent and factional conflict in specific parties at different points in time, destroys the voter confidence.
The intra-party politics, party cohesion and the role of party factions in legislative politics is always blanketed by the ugly results of the factionalism.
We must regard factions as divisive and potentially dangerous to the government.
People have blamed factions for sustaining corruption for encouraging favouritism and graft among elected officials and for squelching competition between the ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’
Those who are rich in the party becomes untouchables and grow big heads. They throw away all the party procedures and direct all the glory to themselves. This destroys the confidence of the true cadres.
The masses are bribed and the stalwarts are undermined. Factions are formed on monetary and not ideological basis.
All having been said factionalism destroys parties and cripples the government. In all this nonsense it is the people who suffer.

As the old Zimbabwean saying goes. Were two elephants fight it is the grass which suffers.

How long will the grass suffer before the elephants stop the fight.
As we March towards 2023 we must fight factionalism and tribalism. We must maintain ZANU PF as the party for Zimbabwean people and must never be divided into tribes.

According to transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano, the leftback, who is the current vice captain, will remain at the club next season.

“Real Madrid have never been intentioned to sell Marcelo. He’s staying and he’s considered a key player for Ancelotti’s team, the board never had any doubt.

President Chamisa In Power: Citizens To Be Involved In Key Decision-making Processes

Tinashe Sambiri|Contrary to claims by critics that President Nelson Chamisa does not have clear national policies, MDC Alliance Youth Assembly Secretary General, Gift Ostallos Siziba has unpacked the $100 billion dollar strategy set to transform the country’s waning economy.

Speaking during an online discussion forum, Siziba said the $ 100 billion dollar economic recovery plan would be implemented over a period of 10 years.

“President Advocate Nelson Chamisa’s vision is clear and straightforward- first and foremost we have to deal with the corruption endemic.

Where do we find corruption? In health, agriculture and other sectors of the clueless regime.

You cannot dream of transforming the economy when there is lack of transparent leadership.

Our task is to restore the social contract. Citizens play a vital role in the formulation of policies.

On the contrary the Zanu PF regime is dictating its will to suffering citizens.

Ordinary citizens know that Advocate Nelson Chamisa is the man who can spearhead economic transformation.

“Chinamasa Remarks On Diaspora Vote Barbaric “

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance South Africa Province has declared that Zanu PF has no right to block the diaspora vote.

This follows Zanu PF official Patrick Chinamasa’s declaration that Zimbabweans in the will not be able to vote until sanctions have been removed.

Read the MDC Alliance South Africa statement below:

DIASPORA VOTE IS OUR RIGHT – MDC-A SOUTH AFRICA PROVINCE

As MDCA South Africa Province we feel Zanu pf’s position on diaspora vote as spelt out by Patrick Chinamasa can not go unchallenged.

His utterances are mischievous, frivolous, barbaric, uncalled for and misinformed.

Zanu pf cannot deny Zimbabweans in the Diaspora the democratic right to vote on cooked up allegations.

It is every Zimbabwean’s right to vote as enrished in the Zimbabwean constitution. If Mr Chinamasa,Mr Chiwenga or Mr Mnangagwa are under travel bans(sanctions) they are not Zimbabwe and they do not represent the country.

The sanctions gaffe is a myth.Zimbabwe as a country is enjoying international trade and most of her goods are imported.

Let Zimbabweans exercise and enjoy their rights, one of these is the right to vote. The only sanctions that Zimbabwe is under are those imposed on them by the Zanu PF regime. These include, human rights abuse, plundering of state resources, rigging of elections. And we demand Harare to stop these forthwith.

Zanu pf has active political structures in Britain, USA ,Canada and South Africa. It is not banned from carrying out its campaigns in these countries. So, zanu pf’s excuse for not extending voting rights to citizens in the diaspora is unacceptable and comes across political skulduggery.

Less than 100 zanu pf leaders and their military enforcers are under targeted economic sanctions. Several zanu pf leaders can travel unhindered to any of the countries they claim to have imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe. Surely, sanctions do not stop zanu pf from campaigning in these countries.

The majority of Zimbabweans in the diaspora are in South Africa, Tanzania,Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi. These countries have not imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe. Therefore, Mr Patrick ‘Binman’ Chinamasa’s argument for denying Zimbabweans in the SADC region the right to vote is hollow, fallacious, and smacks of outright arrogance, typical of a party scared of being voted out of power.

It is double standards that the zanu pf government admits to receiving millions in US dollars remittances from the Diaspora yet it doesn’t want the same people propping it to have the right to vote. Zanu pf wants diasporans’ money but it doesn’t want to grant them the right to vote.It is the same as wanting honey but doesn’t want bees. That’s undiluted voter disenfranchisement. It is sad that SADC and the AU do not chide zanu pf for such undemocratic practices.

Zimbabwe has embassies and consulates in the EU, Britain and the USA which offer passport and I.D. registration services. The same embassies and consulates must be used for voter registration and voting purposes too by the Zimbabwean diaspora.

As MDC-A SA, we call on the Harare regime to put people first before pursuing power retention schemes.Zanu PF should not impose voting sanctions on Zimbabweans in the diaspora. Its ruinous economic and economic policies drove many into the Diaspora, therefore they should not punish us for being out of the country yet they are the author of our emigration.

Diaspora vote should be granted like yesterday to all Zimbabweans outside the country.

What You Need To Know About COVID-19 Vaccines…

Questions And Answers On COVID-19 Vaccines

Questions and Answers on COVID-19 vaccines

Q: How have the vaccines been developed so quickly? Does this mean that their safety and efficacy has been compromised?

A: The speed of development of COVID-19 vaccines has been unprecedented for several reasons, but the safety and efficacy requirements for vaccines have not been compromised, Vaccine development was facilitated by:

The massive financial investment by governments, industry and philanthropic organisations in vaccine development and the re-direction of much of the global research and commercial infrastructure for the development and manufacture of vaccines. Governments also enabled companies to take the commercial risk of manufacturing some vaccine stocks ahead of regulatory approvals.

New technologies adapted from the development of other vaccines – mRNA vaccines were developed for COVID-19 very rapidly after the sequence of the COVID-19 virus was determined, but the underlying technology had been under development since much longer and production could be scaled up very quickly. The adenovirus technology used for adenovirus vector vaccines was first tested with SARS, MERS and Ebola virus over the last 20 years, and so was able to be adapted quickly to COVID-19, which has several similarities to these viruses.

Clinical trial successes – it has been possible to rapidly recruit large numbers of volunteers into clinical trials and, with unfortunately high rates of infection in several countries, to complete trials with 10,000-50,000 people in a short period of time. Under normal circumstances, it may take many months or even a few years to carry out trials of this size to determine whether a vaccine is effective.
Very close collaboration – between regulators, industry and clinical researchers enabled clear indications of regulatory requirements and early access to results.

Intensive and insightful research – researchers predicted that the “spike protein” on the virus would be a good target for vaccine development, and almost all vaccines have been designed to induce a response to this protein. So far, the spike protein has produced a strong immune response in those vaccinated, and for those vaccines that have reported clinical results are highly protective from COVID-19 disease.
Q: Will mRNA vaccines affect the DNA of vaccine recipients?

A: No. The mRNA in the vaccine has not been shown to incorporate itself into the genes of vaccine recipients and breaks down in the weeks after vaccination. mRNA vaccines contain genetic instructions for our cells, which only read them and provide copies of the SARS-CoV2 spike protein. This enables the body’s natural immune systems to cause a response in vaccine recipients if they are later exposed to the virus.

Q: How long will COVID-19 vaccination provide protection for immunised people?

A: We do not yet know how long protection from any of these vaccines lasts. We will get better insights over the next 12 months.

The duration of protection provided by vaccines can vary. For example, the seasonal influenza vaccine is given annually, because the influenza virus mutates, and protection wanes over a number of months. Other vaccines, such as those for rubella or measles provide multi-year or even life-long protection from disease. Mutations in key viral proteins can mean that virus variants emerge. The SARS-CoV-2-coronavirus is prone to mutations that creates variants, some of which have become established in a number of regions of the world. The scientific community and regulators are very actively monitoring whether the current vaccines can continue protecting people from infection with new variants.
A number of vaccine developers are currently developing vaccines against the range of variants, and it is likely that booster shots with these vaccines will increase protection against known variants. Regulators have agreed that review of data on vaccines against variants will be facilitated based on assessment of immune response to the variant, in the same way that new seasonal influenza vaccines are evaluated each year.
Q: Why are there so many vaccine candidates?

A: As the global seriousness of the pandemic became rapidly apparent, development of effective vaccines for COVID-19 became the top priority of many pharmaceutical companies and medical research institutes. There was also unprecedented government and private sector investment in vaccine development. There is now a wide range of technologies for developing new vaccines – and many of the organisations developing COVID-19 vaccines have particular experience in one or more of these technologies. This has ensured that there would still be vaccines available if some were not approved for reasons of efficacy, safety or manufacturing challenges.

Q: What if many people start getting a reaction from a particular COVID-19 vaccine?

A: Short-term reactions, such as soreness at the injection site, fatigue or headache are common following any vaccination with COVID-19 vaccines. These reactions usually pass in a day or two. If new evidence becomes available that suggests that a specific serious adverse event may be linked to a particular COVID-19 vaccine then regulators will take action, working collaboratively on a global basis and liaise with public health authorities. The type of actions that can be taken depend on the nature of the adverse event, and could range from issuing safety warnings for patients, healthcare professionals and the community; updating the product information or consumer information for the vaccine to show contraindications for the use in particular patients (e.g. those with certain co-morbidities); to closely monitoring adverse events in certain groups of patients; preventing the release of a particular batch of vaccine through to temporary suspension of the use of the vaccine until more is known.

Q: How are regulators speeding up the time it takes to authorise a COVID-19 vaccine?

A: Many regulators globally have implemented faster access pathways for COVID-19 vaccines, without compromising on strict standards of safety, quality and efficacy.

Some countries have Emergency Use Authorisation pathways which assess the available data at the time of authorisation. Exercising these provisions is a matter for those countries, taking into account the benefits versus risks in the context of the prevailing domestic pandemic situation. Different countries may coin this pathway or authorisation routes differently but essentially, they follow the same principles.
Other countries have implemented accelerated/priority, conditional or provisional approval schemes.

Under normal circumstances, regulatory assessment begins once all information to support registration is available. For COVID-19 vaccines, many regulators have agreed to accept data on a rolling basis to enable early evaluation of data as it becomes available. Regulators will only be in a position to make a provisional approval decision for a vaccine once there is sufficient data to support adequately the safety, quality and effectiveness of the vaccine for its intended use. If a decision is made to grant provisional or conditional approval, it will be based on the requirement for the sponsor to submit more comprehensive, longer term clinical data, stability data and other information with agreed timelines.
Q: Did our country approve this COVID-19 vaccine, or are we relying on another country’s approval?

A: Most countries are carrying out independent regulatory evaluations on the submitted data for each vaccine. However, to ensure a more efficient use of resources and expertise, regulators in different countries are communicating closely on safety, efficacy and quality data and discussing technical issues as they may arise. In many cases principles of WHO Good Reliance Practices and collaborative mechanisms leverage the output of other regulators.

Q: Why weren’t very rare blood clots with low platelets with the AstraZeneca or Janssen vaccines picked up during clinical trials?

A: Thromboembolic events with concurrent thrombocytopenia are very rare – with estimates based on the number of spontaneous reports suggesting an overall incidence on the order of 10-15 cases per million doses. The clinical trials of these vaccines included large numbers of people, often with 10,000 to 20,000 individuals in the active vaccine arms, but even in trials of this size it was statistically unlikely that such very rare events would be detected. This shows the importance of continual safety monitoring during the use of these vaccines, to allow very rare events to be detected and investigated further.

Mnangagwa, Zanu PF Heavyweights Are The Real Sanctions Tormenting Country- MDC Alliance

Ostallos Siziba Unpacks President Chamisa’s Economic Recovery Vision

“MDC Alliance- Stop Helping Zanu PF Stay In Power”

By Patrick Guramatunhu- ”ZACC should be disbanded if it does not have the capacity and the political will to investigate the chronic corruption that is killing us, if it cannot act independently, of course this must be part of a raft of wider political reforms as we repeatedly demand in the MDC Alliance,” said Fadzayi Mahere, MDC A spokesperson.

“On corruption, the (2019) Auditor-General’s (Mildred Chiri) report has come out and it tells a sad and ongoing tale of looting. It is the citizens that pay the price of looting and so we demand answers and urgent investigations into the outcome of that report. Citizens bear the brunt of bad governance, so we demand accountability. Corruption is killing us,” Mahere said.

This is just political posturing on the part of MDC A!

Mahere is wittering about reforming ZACC as “part of a raft of wider political reforms as we repeatedly demand in the MDC Alliance!” And yet during the 2008 to 2013 GNU MDC leaders had the opportunity to implement the raft of reforms themselves. They failed to get even one token reform implemented in five years!

Mugabe bribed Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends with the trappings of high office; the posh ministerial limousines, very generous salaries and allowances, a US$ 4 million Highland mansion for Save (as MDC supporter fondly called Tsvangirai), etc., etc. With their snouts in the feeding trough, MDC leaders forgot about the reforms for the five years of the GNU.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC idiots have learned to enjoy the trappings of power, they will never rock the boat!) boasted Zanu PF cronies when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing the raft of reforms.

Post the GNU, Mugabe defy SADC leaders’ call to have the 2013 elections postponed until reforms necessary to ensure free and fair elections were implemented. He dangled the bait of a few gravy train seats to entice MDC to participate in the flawed and illegal elections. It worked!

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” admitted David Coltart, MDC A Treasurer General, in his book.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

MDC did form a strong coalition, the MDC A, before the 2018 elections and they still participated in the elections for the same reason – greed.

“Operation Murambatsvina 2 (demolition of Mbare vendor stalls in Harare last week) is a stark reminder of the unquestionable fact that Zanu-PF is against the people, it is at war with the people and it does not have the people at heart,” said Mahere.

True enough, Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies are heartless alright.

“Mazivanhu eZanu PF adzidza kare kudya anyerere!” (Zanu PF thugs learned a long time ago (1980) to enjoy the trapping of high office; they would not rock the boat!) to paraphrase the boasting Zanu PF crony above.

Zanu PF thugs like Mnangagwa were busy enjoying the trappings of high office they not only said nothing but played their assigned role in the blatant rigging of elections, the Gukurahundi massacre, etc.!

However, it is sheer hypocrisy for MDC leaders to be accusing Zanu PF leaders of being heartless in their pursuit to gratify their insatiable greed when the MDC leaders themselves guilty of the same thing!

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders into power on the understanding the party will implement the reforms to end Zanu PF oppression and greed. After 21 years, 5 of which in the GNU, MDC have not only failed to deliver any change but are the ones helping Zanu PF to stay in power.

Since the 2008 GNU, MDC leaders have been running with the povo hare by day and hunting with the Zanu PF hounds by night. It is for the ordinary people to open their eyes and see they are being taken for fools!

Chamisa and his MDC A are gearing to participate in the 2023 elections regardless the evidence Zanu PF will once again rig elections, regardless of all the posturing about reforms, etc. MDC A leaders have their eyes fixed on the few gravy train seats they do not care the price tag of the nation, once again, forfeiting free, fair and credible election and being stuck with the Zanu PF dictatorship for another five more years.

It is insane for the ordinary Zimbabweans to keep participating in elections “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical and obvious thing to do is boycott”; particularly when participating only gives legitimacy to the vote rigging Zanu PF!

Japhet Mparutsa’s Tribute To Misheck “Scania” Marimo

MDC Alliance Kwazulu Natal Breathes Fire Over Diaspora Vote

By A Correspondent- The MDC Alliance Kwazulu-Natal branch has blasted Zanu PF over the party’s continous bid to block Zimbabweans in the diaspora from participating in the 2023 elections.

On Thursday Zanu PF’s Patrick Chinamasa said those in the diaspora would not be allowed to vote “until sanctions have been removed.”

See the MDC Alliance Kwazulu-Natal response below:

MDC ALLIANCE KWAZULU NATAL CCC PRESS STATEMENT

We have taken note of Zanu PF’s Patrick Chinamasa’s press statement held on 24 June 2021 where he shared Zanu PF’s undemocratic and repressive position in regard to the Diaspora Vote.

Zanu PF confesses to willfully engaging in brazen violation of the Constitution by denying the citizens of Zimbabwe in the diaspora their democratic right to vote for the party of their choice by falsely accusing them of bringing sanctions upon the nation.

Zanu PF deliberately steered away from human rights abuse issues and the breakdown of rule of law which led to millions leaving the nation in search of better life and survival with limited chances of political engagement. Zanu PF opted to ignore its complicit in the matter due to its refusing to address rule of law violations, electoral reforms, freedom or speech and association, draconian laws like POSA and AIPPA amongst many other issues which led to Zanu PF shooting its own foot.

We stand by the suffering masses in the diaspora who are eking out their livelihood to keep their children in school and parents at home taken care of and strongly condemn the utterances by Patrick Chinamasa’s and Zanu PF with utter disdain and disappointment.

The citizens of Zimbabwe cannot and did not bring sanctions on Zimbabwe for the mere fact that they are not British and neither are they Americans nor European Union.

They are innocent, hardworking and suffering people whose main dream is a secure job, food and roof on their heads instead of cheap politicking.

We call on Zanu PF to stop the continued violation of human rights and deprivation of citizens right to vote and to express themselves.

We call on Zanu PF to engage with Britain and America and address their demands as well as desist from blatant corruption, looting and dictatorship.

Zanu PF actions are what brought sanctions on their own heads and not the suffering masses of Zimbabwe. It’s every Zimbabwean in diaspora’s dream to live and work in the country of their birth but Zanu PF has failed to lead and provide decent employment opportunities and has shrinked the democratic space leading to millions of Zimbabweans opting to leave the country in order to survive.

We strongly condemn Patrick Chinamasa’ s utterance and call him to order and to respect Zimbabweans and the Constitution.

Zanu PF is not Zimbabwe.

Harare Lawyer Douglas Chinawa Sucked In Fraudulent Land Transfer Deal

BY A CORRESPONDENT| A Harare lawyer Douglas Chinawa has been implicated in a land scam in which the Sheriff of Zimbabwe Mcduff Madega granted him powers to transfer Stand Number 654 Pomona Township to a company owned by controversial businessman Kenneth Raydon Sharpe.

654 Pomona Township which measures 273, 2923 hectares belongs to The President of Zimbabwe.

According to papers in possession of ZimEye, Madega nominated Chinawa of Chinawa law chambers to transfer of land to Sharpe’s Doorex Properties in full knowledge of the fact it was subject of litigation by Harare legislator Norman Markham.

Markham is challenging the transfer of 654 Pomona Township to Sharpe as payment for the construction of Airport Road arguing that Sharpe did fulfil the terms of the agreement.

“I Mcduff Madega, in my capacity as the Sheriff for Zimbabwe acting in terms of an order of the High Court of Zimbabwe, at Harare passed under case No HC4528/19 on 3rd June 2019 for THE PRESIDENT OF ZIMBABWE do hereby nominate, constitute, and appoint Douglas Chinawa or Takunda Emmanuel Gumbo or Anna Mapanzure or Blessed Ngwenya or Effort Nkazimulo Dube, with power of substitution to be my lawful Attorney or Agent in my name, place and stead, to appear before the Registrar of Deeds at Harare and then and there, as my act and deed to make transfer to DOOREX PROPERTIES LIMITED of certain 273,2923 hectares of land called Stand 654 Pomona Township situate in the District of Salisbury, held under Deed of Grant No 2884/2010 dated 1st July 2010: subject to conditions mentioned or referred to in the said Deed,” reads Madega’s declaration to the High Court.

Madega is currently on the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) radar after he abused his position to fraudulently sell private properties attached by the courts.

According to state media reports, at least nine reports that involve improper sale of seized properties have been reported to ZACC.

Madega is accused of working with a cartel of people from his offices, auctioneers and officials at deeds office to target properties attached by the courts.

Avenging Spirit Demands Two Tonne Truck, Grinding Mill 12yrs Later

By A Correspondent- The alleged avenging spirit of an Odzi diamond dealer is demanding a two-tonne truck and a grinding mill from his two friends, twelve years after the duo allegedly murdered him.

It is said the spirit of Welldone Mutangabende of Mararira Farm in Odzi is accusing John Muchinganwa and Willard Kushanya of robbing him of his eight-carat diamond in 2008.

The dead man’s spirit is alleged to have further claimed that after killing him, Muchinganwa and Kushanya dumped his body in a Chiadzwa mineshaft.

The spirit indicated that more demands, including some cattle, will be made once the truck and grinding mill are handed over to his family.

The Mutangabende, Muchinganwa and Kushanya families appeared before Chief Marange’s court last week on Sunday where the spirit made the demands.

In an interview with Manica Post, Mutangabende’s younger brother Shingirayi said his brother’s spirit claimed the diamond he was robbed of was worth a truck and grinding mill. He said:

Every interested party was there when the spirit made its demands. Had the spirit told our family members only about its demands, nobody would have believed us.

I am sure everyone would have thought that we are greedy and taking advantage of the situation.

We now wait for the accused people’s families to fulfil these demands. He claims that the eight-carat diamond they robbed him was worth that truck and grinding mill.

Madzibaba Tendai, a prophet who was being consulted by the Muchinganwa and Kushanya families said the families had managed to silence the avenging spirit for years.

He said:

They consulted a traditional healer who helped them to silence the spirit (kutsipika) through rituals. The spirit was stored in a gourd. All hell broke loose when the traditional healer died last year.

Mutangabende was allegedly murdered by Muchinganwa and Kushanya in 2008 for his 8-carat diamond.

Another Multi Million Tender Scandal Haunts ED

By A Correspondent- The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has been implicated in a multi-million-dollar tender scandal after top bureaucrats tried to smuggle a losing bidder through the back door, the Zimbabwe Independent reported.

The US$18 million tender is for the supply and installation of the Telecommunications Traffic Monitoring System (TTMS), which many suspect would be used as a surveillance mechanism by the state.

Originally won by Spanish firm Global Voice Group (GVG) last year, the lucrative deal, according to official sources, was now being wrestled from the lawful winners to a Bosnia and Herzegovina-headquartered company, NSoft.

In so doing, sources said, the officials have tried fervently to besmirch GVG.

Interestingly, an investigation by the Independent this week indicates that GVG has remarkable footprints on the African continent where it has offered ICT and RegTech solutions to governments and regulatory bodies in Guniea, Lesotho, Tanzania, Ghana, Senegal, Congo, Gabon, Uganda and Rwanda.

On the contrary, the OPC-preferred NSoft’s main activity is software development and custom software solution for bookmakers (sports betting) and the gaming industry, including in-house development of virtual games and draw-based games.

It has secondary business in artificial intelligence-based software solution for surveillance known as Vision.

The Independent further established this week the matter has over the past few months been a subject of a vicious tugof-war after two regulatory authorities Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory of Zimbabwe (Potraz) and the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Praz) firmly opposed OPC to supplant GVG with NSoft.

NSoft has a long-standing working relationship with the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) having previously offered technology-based solutions.

Investigations by this publication show that spirited efforts to overturn tender results in favour of NSoft started in 2019, with officials from the OPC and the CIO fighting in NSoft’s corner.

Sources said when the tender process was opened, NSoft was in a full-scale charm offensive to clinch the deal.

However, after losing the tender, authorities allegedly sought to nullify the tendering process on the basis that GVG had been involved in corrupt activities in Lesotho, where its officials were alleged to have bribed a minister, and in Guinea.

“Thereafter, the company (Nsoft) started lobbying for the tender to be nullified on grounds of manipulation and gross malpractices,” a source said, adding, “regional law enforcement agents and telecoms regulators in Guinea, Tanzania, Ghana and DRC however joined others to vouch for GVG’s conduct and ability to deliver during Zimbabwe’s due diligence process.”

Confidential documents filed by Potraz and Praz, seen by this publication this week, show that the authorities’ assessments of GVG operations were based on merit.

Therefore, the documents show, GVG was deemed to be the suitable winner of the multi-million-dollar deal.

“The reality is that our people are very corrupt and they obviously lied to NSoft that they would guarantee the tender is awarded to them. However, there is Praz and Potraz involved. The Ministry of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and the OPC are also involved in the vetting process and no single man gets his way. It is not a joke and this is common to find people being duped that way,” an official said.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate an estimated US$10 million in revenue every month.

GVG marketing director Clara de las Heras denied any wrong-doing in Guinea and Lesotho.

“In 2019, GVG won its case against the state of Guinea for wrongful termination of contract. As a matter of fact, in April, 2021 we signed a new partnership with the Telecommunication and Posts Regulatory Authority (ARPT) of the Republic of Guinea to bring tangible answers to the regulator’s new requirements in the current and future Guinean telecom environment,” de las Heras said.

“For over 20 years, GVG has built a solid track record, delivering cutting-edge ICT and RegTech solutions for governments and regulatory bodies. Our company is strongly committed to bringing compliance and transparency to key economic sectors and this is our only concern.”

GVG CEO James Claude dismissed allegations that they accused Lesotho ICT minister Keketso Sello of demanding a US$220 000 bribe to award them a lucrative contract to audit Lesotho Telecommunications Authority (LTA).

“None of our employees have been in contact with the minister in Lesotho. I am the only one who has been in direct contact with the Telcom CEO (Mamarane Metela),” he said.

The entanglement resulted in the matter spilling into President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s hands, sources further revealed.

Mnangagwa, sources said, then ordered an investigation to assess whether the tender process was in line with the law.

“Results of the investigation show that indeed, the tender process was conducted in line with the law and the president blocked moves by his own officials,” an OPC source said.

Potraz director-general Gift Machengete said the tender process was above board.

“We cannot comment as the process is yet to be finalised, but Potraz is there to ensure corrupt hands stay off these tenders,” Machengete said.

Praz acting CEO Clever Ruswa said procurement was now overseen by procuring entities.

“According to PPDPA Act, all procurements are now being handled by procuring entities. Praz will follow due process and a detailed response on the issue will be availed in due course,” he said.

Presidential spokesperson George Charamba said: “If the president was satisfied that the tender process was above board, then what is your story? We are the ultimate authority.”

He, however, referred this publication to ICT ministry.

“You must speak to the minister of ICT first and then we can have a chat.”

ICT minister Jenfan Muswere and permanent secretary Sam Kundishora were both not available for comment as they are attending a Pan-African Postal Union conference in Victoria Falls this week.

The GVG system is meant to monitor telecommunications traffic and provide realtime data collection.

The TTMS is a highly advanced regulatory tool meant to enhance Potraz’s revenue generating capacity.

It is also tailor-made to combat network fraud and enforce billing integrity across all communication networks.

ZESA Loadshedding To Ease

By A Correspondent- The Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) has increased its water allocation for power generation by 12 Billion Cubic Meters (BCM) following the normal to above normal 2020/21 rainfall season.

In a statement this Friday, ZRA chief executive Engineer Munyaradzi Munodawafa said the water will be shared equally between Zambia’s power utility ZESCO and Zimbabwe’s ZPC, the power generation arm of ZESA holdings.

Below is the statement from Eng. Munodawafa:

INCREASE OF WATER ALLOCATION FOR POWER GENERATION AT KARIBA

Lusaka, 25th June 2021

The Zambezi River Authority (the Authority) hereby announces an increase in water allocation for power generation at Kariba by 12 Billion Cubic Meters (BCM).

The allocated amount is to be shared equally between the two power utilities, ZESCO Limited (ZESCO) and the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), for their respective power generation operations at Kariba North Bank Power Station (KNBPS) and Kariba South Bank Power Station (KSBPS) for the remainder of 2021.

This 12 BCM increase in water allocation, attributable to the normal to above normal rainfall performance, implies that the 2021 water allocation has been revised upwards from 30BCM to 42 BCM to be shared equally between the two power Utilities for their respective power generation operations at Kariba for the year 2021.

The Authority has made this revision in the water allocation in line with its mandate which includes undertaking quarterly hydrological reviews to inform reservoir operations at Kariba.

These reviews take into consideration, among other factors, the seasonal rainfall performance.

The Authority will continue to undertake these quarterly hydrological reviews and accordingly inform its stakeholders and members of the general public.

“ZNA, Zanu PF Inseparable”: Chinamasa

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ruling Zanu-PF party yesterday said it would continue banking on the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) for political survival because the two are tied together by the liberation struggle.

Zanu-PF acting political commissar Patrick Chinamasa told journalists at a Press conference in Harare yesterday that the army was dutybound to protect the country’s sovereignty and that there was an unbreakable continuity between the ruling party and its military wings during the liberation struggle.

The liberation wings, Zanla and Zipra, Chinamasa said, remain at the heart of the ZNA.

“Always be mindful that there is this unbreakable continuity between the liberation struggle and Zanu-PF, between the armies of liberation Zipra and Zanla and the national army of independence,” he said.

“Any notion which seeks to break this bond should be rejected outright.”

The military played a major role in settling internal power struggles in Zanu-PF by leading a coup in November 2017, which led to the ouster of long-time ruler, the late former President Robert Mugabe and ushered in Mnangagwa’s rule.

The military, together with veterans of the liberation struggle, have also led repeated violent electoral campaigns on behalf of Zanu-PF.

Chinamasa said the composition of the ZNA leadership also told a story of the link between the ruling party and the military.

“It speaks for itself who are the commanders of the army, who is the CDF [Commander Defence Forces], Cde Valerio Sibanda. Who was he? He was a leading general in Zipra. Who is the commander of the national army, Cde edzayi Chimonyo? Who was he? He was a leading commander in Zanla. That culture of defending the sovereignty of this country will continue,” he said.

Chinamasa, who was flanked by former Zanu-PF political commissars Victor Matemadanda, Webster Shamu and engelbert Rugeje, was in a war mode, accusing non-governmental organisations (NGOs) of leading a regime change agenda.

“I cannot conclude this presser without denouncing the consented and orchestrated state of government via sponsored interventions which have become a menace, funding by foreign intelligence services of opposition political parties, non-governmental organisations which are anything, but civil,” he charged.

“As you know, Zimbabwe has a record. We have something like 3 500 NGOs in this country. None of them, very few of them are helping towards the economic development of the country.

“All of them are basically employed to achieve regime change in Zimbabwe and we condemn it. They are clearly calculated to undermine the orderly evolution of our political, economic and judicial systems and must be condemned in the strongest terms.”

He said NGOs could not be allowed to threaten the independence of the country.

“We are at the moment just understanding what they are doing and if we clearly see that they are on a regime change agenda, ours will be to request their deregistration,” Chinamasa said.

“Clearly, that is our responsibility as a country. We cannot allow, as a country, international organisations which we register under our legislation to subvert the sovereignty and integrity of Zimbabwe.”

He also blasted the Voice of America, a United States-based international broadcaster, saying it was being used to fight the Mnangagwa-led regime.

“To make reference to the specifically targeted propaganda against Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans in Sadc via hostile broadcasts like the Voice of America’s Studio 7, Zanu-PF views this hostile broadcast in the same light as illegal sanctions,” he said.

“It is an illegitimate and unwarranted interference in our country’s domestic affairs. We take this hostile broadcast as part of the illegal arsenal for regime change. We will resist these machinations as we have done,” he said.

Chinamasa said Mnangagwa had been endorsed as the candidate for the 2023 general elections and was poised to dump all opposition forces in the annals of history.

Man Rapes Teen, Stashes Sand In Her Mouth To Stop Her Screaming

By A Correspondent- A 19 year old Marange man appeared in court for allegedly waylaying and rap_ing a 14-year-old vendor.

Witness Chapeyama allegedly took some groundnuts from the minor’s basket and asked her to follow him so that she could collect her money.

When she refused, he dragged her into a bush and rap_ed her. When she tried to scream, Chapeyama stashed sand into her mouth.

He only fled after a man arrived at the scene and caught him in the act. Chapeyama appeared before Mutare magistrate, Miss Prisca Tendai Manhibi, last week on Saturday and was not asked to plead to the rap_e charges.

He was denied bail and remanded in custody to June 28.

Mnangagwa In US$18 Million Scandal

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s office, the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has been implicated in a multi-million-dollar tender scandal after top bureaucrats tried to smuggle a losing bidder through the back door.

According to the Zimbabwe Independent, the  US$18 million tender is for the supply and installation of the Telecommunications Traffic Monitoring System (TTMS), which many suspects would be used as a surveillance mechanism by the state.

The Independent further established this week the matter has over the past few months been a subject of a vicious tug-of-war after two regulatory authorities Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory of Zimbabwe (Potraz) and the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Praz) firmly opposed OPC to supplant GVG with NSoft.

The GVG system is meant to monitor telecommunications traffic and provide real-time data collection.

The TTMS is a highly advanced regulatory tool meant to enhance Potraz’s revenue generating capacity.

It is also tailor-made to combat network fraud and enforce billing integrity across all communication networks.

Epworth Baby Snatcher Caged

By A Correspondent- A Harare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi has remanded in custody, Christina Gwashavanhu, who had almost succeeded in stealing a newly-born baby at Epworth Polyclinic this week.

Gwashavanhu, on Friday, appeared in court on a charge of kidnapping the baby.

The court heard that Gwashavanhu committed the offence on June 23 but was apprehended before she could make off with the baby from the clinic.

Commenting on the incident, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “We urge institutions like hospitals and clinics to step up their security measures and avoid such incidents.”
A video clip has since gone viral in which the woman was captured being interrogated by staff at the clinic.

A similar incident happened last year when a Zvimba woman kidnapped a child outside Montagu Spar in Harare’s Avenues area.

The suspect, Mirriam Bwanali is still at large while her 40-year-old husband, Gift Chemhuru of Motsi Village under Chief Chirau of Zvimba, was arrested and is currently on remand.

On September 24, 2020, the mother, Shani Charamanda (30), gave birth to a baby boy at Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital, Harare, and she was discharged.

And on October 22, 2020, Charamanda went to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where she wanted to see a doctor for medical review.
On her way home, she met Bwanali inside the hospital yard and they walked to Montagu Spar a few blocks away. While there, Bwanali offered to help carry the baby.

The court heard that Charamanda initially refused but Bwanali insisted, resulting in the complainant giving in.

Bwanali allegedly fled with the child when Charamanda went into the supermarket.

She also took with her, a wallet belonging to Charamanda which had money, and a Nokia mobile phone.

Charamanda reported the matter at Milton Park Police Station.
Closed Circuit Television footage showed Chemhuru committing the offence.

On November 2, police officers from Zvimba received information that members of the community in Motsi Village under Chief Chirau, had apprehended Chemhuru for kidnapping the baby.

Police went to his house and arrested Chemhuru and later found the one-month-old baby sleeping on a bed but Bwanali escaped.

Gutu In Gukurahundi Storm

By A Correspondent- Traditional leaders in Matabeleland have demanded the resignation of former MDC-T vice-president Obert Gutu from the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) claiming he was conflicted and thus could not deal with the emotive Gukurahundi issue.

Gutu is the NPRC spokesperson and on Tuesday courted fire when he said the Gukurahundi issue, which claimed over 20 000 people from Matabeleland and Midlands regions in the 1980s, was “a small tiny fraction of issues” his commission was seized with.

The civilians were massacred by a crack army unit deployed to the region by then Prime Minister Robert Mugabe to flush out perceived PF-Zapu dissidents.

Yesterday, traditional leaders joined human rights groups in condemning Gutu, describing his statements as retrogressive and malicious to the founding principles of the NPRC.

Chief Mathema of Gwanda said Gutu was not adding any value to the NPRC and should resign with immediate effect.

“He (Gutu) lacks the calibre required for this emotive genocide,” Chief Mathema said.
“He is not a serious person and he lacks depth in approaching the Gukurahubndi issue. He should better excuse himself from this important commission that people hope will solve most of their problems that relate to Gukurahundi. He lacks insight into human nature.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa last year tasked the traditional leaders in Matabeleland and Midlands regions to preside over the emotive issue and consult affected citizens on the way forward.

He said government would only capacitate the process.

Chief Jahana of Insiza said Gutu was clueless when it came to dealing with matters of conflict and could worsen the situation.

“He (Gutu) has no focus as a person coming from the region that never lost any relative in such genocide,” Chief Jahana said.

Ibhetshu LikaZulu secretary-general Mbuso Fuzwayo said Gutu’s remarks exposed the NPRC as a tool used by government, the chief perpetrator, in buying time.

“The appointment of Gutu removed all doubt about government’s unwillingness to find a lasting solution on the Gukurahundi genocide,” Fuzwayo said.

“Gutu’s history of fraternising with the Zanu PF regime dates back to the days of Gukurahundi genocide, where he was part of the Judiciary that was a vital tool in human rights violations.

“It’s very unfortunate and sad that the whole NPRC can sit and agree that the genocide, which claimed a minimum of 20 000 lives, left thousands of women abused, raped, scores bayoneted, many people displaced, tortured and forcibly disappeared, is nothing but a ‘small, tiny fraction’.”

NPRC chairperson Selo Nare was not reachable for comment on Gutu’s remarks.

.

Using front-end loaders the local authorities were seen yesterday pulling down structures and facilities such as tuckshops established along roadsides and backyard food outlets under the watch of over 60 police officers.

The demolitions came after a similar exercise at Mbare’s Magaba home industrial area, Mupedzanhamo, Shawasha, Nenyere and Matapi flats on Saturday.

Chipinge Woman Arrested For Hiding Dead Baby Body

By A Correspondent-Police details in Chipinge have arrested a woman for keeping a decomposed body of an infant in her house.

The case came to the surface when neighbours complained of a heavy stench coming from the house. They reported the matter to Police and detectives were shocked to find the body of a baby (3 weeks old) rotting in a blanket on the floor.

Police has since taken away the body for postmortem and Chipinge Times is told that the suspected mother of the dead child and her mother are not answering questions from the Police.

District Community Relations Liason Officer Assistant Inspector Jawett Kamera confirmed the matter but said details were still sketchy. The mother of the child has only been identified as Barbra.

It is not clear when the baby was born and how it died.

Some people who spoke to Chipinge Times on condition of anonymity suspected that the two women who have been keeping the body are mentally unstable.

“We were attracted by a heavy smell. We called a Police officer who was just passing by and he attended the scene. Later on CID detectives came to the house to question the two but to no avail. The detectives were shocked when they saw the body lying on the floor, covered in a blanket.
The detectives were allegedly told that the baby was asleep.

“The two are not saying anything. During questioning, they just remained silent. It is still an ongoing case. No one really knows what transpired because the family lives an isolated in their small cabin, ” said one source.
“This is not happening for the first time. There was an incident again at the same house. A young boy who is a brother to Barbra died. For days, the mother would carry him in and outside the house. It was reported and the body was then buried. It is a strange family,” said one source.

ZPCS is another Zanu PF paramilitary wing that the violent party unleashes on innocent civilians during elections time.

The Zanu PF party also uses ZPCS officials to poison opposition party cadres it would have arrested on trumped-up charges.

Mnangagwa touched down at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport at 3pm yesterday from Victoria Falls where he officially opened the 39th Ordinary Session of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) Administrative Council and 10th Ordinary Session of the elective Plenipotentiary Conference.

COVID-19 Situation Gets Out Of Hand, Hospital Beds At Full Capacity

ZIMBABWE’s main referral health centre, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, has ordered doctors to reduce normal admissions and discharge patients deemed as stable to create space for COVID-19 patients, following a surge in infections since the advent of the third wave two weeks ago.

On Tuesday, the country had 257 COVID-19 admissions at various health institutions.

Two days later, the country recorded 17 deaths and 826 new cases, the highest so far since the onset of the third wave a fortnight ago.

On the same day, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals’ acting clinical director Tsitsi Magure expressed concern over the surge in COVID-19 admissions and ordered consultants and senior registrars to reclaim wards in the COVID-19 zone of the health institution.

In a notice dated June 24, Magure said: “Just to update you on the COVID-19 situation at our hospital, we have seen a sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 positive patients being admitted in our COVID-19 unit. We need to reclaim back the COVID-19 zone to admit the increasing numbers of patients.

“All firms should discharge as many patients (non-COVID-19) as possible” and “OPD [out-patient department] clinics will remain open for review of chronic patients.”

Doctors, according to the circular, were ordered to focus on emergency cases for admissions as the hospital keeps looking for ways to manage the crisis.

“With effect from Monday June 28, there will be no elective lists, only daily emergency lists and trauma lists will be scheduled to operate all patients in the wards in preparation for discharge,” she said.

United Bulawayo Hospital chief executive officer Narcisious Dzvanga yesterday said the number of COVID-19 admissions at the institution was also was rising, but still manageable.

“The number of admissions is rising, ranging between five and 10 a day. Overwhelming is not just about cases admitted, but can be multi-factorial, for example, shortage of linen, staff and laundry issues. We are delighted that Ekusileni will soon start admitting patients this week,” he said.

Mpilo Central Hospital acting chief executive Solwayo Ngwenya said the situation was also getting dire at his institution.

“Didn’t I warn you before? Why are you suddenly surprised?” asked Ngwenya rhetorically.

Government recently cited most suburbs in Bulawayo as COVID-19 hotspots and placed them under localised lockdown to curb the spread of the highly infectious respiratory disease.

Reports from Masvingo yesterday indicated that the city’s sole COVID-19 isolation centre, which has a carrying capacity of 10 patients, had run out of space.

In a related issue, the COVID-19 pandemic is fast affecting health workers, with renowned medical practitioner, Bilal Shah, said to have succumbed to the disease.

Mashonaland West province continues to record the highest cases despite being placed under localised lockdown.

As of yesterday, the country had

44 306 positive cases, 37 524 recoveries, 5 073 active cases and 1 709 deaths.

However, COVID-19 national taskforce chief co-ordinator Agnes Mahomva said government was managing the virus and had the capacity to take care of severe cases.

“We know our capacity,” she said.

“We have been working on COVID-19 centres for some time, with those that needed to be renovated having been renovated. We know which institution accommodates severe cases. It is very easy for us to tell. So, to answer you in short, we know our capacity and we are managing it very well.”

Vice-President and Health minister Consantino Chiwenga recently admitted that the COVID-19 pandemic had exposed shortcomings in the health sector, raising fears that the third wave may overwhelm the sector.

Top Mining Executive Dumps Govt Owned Kuvimba Mining House

David Brown, chief executive officer of Zimbabwe’s Kuvimba Mining House Ltd., intends to step down, jeopardising the future of the company the government hopes will spur an economic revival.

The 58-year-old South African mining veteran has told Kuvimba stakeholders he aims to step away from executive positions, two people familiar with the situation said. Brown wouldn’t comment on talks regarding his post at Kuvimba when called by Bloomberg.

“It has always been my intention to transition from executive roles to non-executive roles,” Brown said in a separate emailed response to queries. “When I joined it was always understood that this was the process I wanted to follow.”

Kuvimba says it aims to build one of the world’s biggest platinum mines and revive a number of neglected gold and operations, projects that are key to boosting the nation’s export earnings. Zimbabwe’s finance minister, Mthuli Ncube, in January said Brown was appointed to head the company because of his international experience and track record.

Appointing his replacement will highlight questions of control and ownership. The government says that together with state-controlled entities it holds 65% of Kuvimba, which also has nickel and chrome operations. But documents, emails and WhatsApp messages seen and reported on by Bloomberg on May 11 show how, through a complex series of transactions, the assets that form the core of its holdings were until recently owned by or tied to Kudakwashe Tagwirei, a politically connected businessman and presidential adviser who was sanctioned for corruption by the US last year.

Almas Global Opportunity Fund SPC, an investment firm registered in the Cayman Islands, said it still owned the mining assets months after Ncube said they formed part of Kuvimba. It didn’t immediately reply to a query made by Bloomberg on Wednesday.

Horror As Girl (14) Kills Self Over Cellphone

A 14-YEAR-OLD girl at Mutare Farm Prison committed suicide after her parents had reprimanded her and confiscated her cellphone recently.

Kupakwashe Wakatama allegedly took her own life after her parents barred her from using her cellphone.

“Kupakwashe got a phone at an early age and was so much excited about it that she would not do any domestic chores. We suspect that she killed herself because we had temporarily taken her phone in a bid to make her do some chores,” said her father, Mr Ignitious Wakatama.

Mr Wakatama added: “Kupakwashe woke up early last Saturday morning and went to play with her phone without doing any chores at home. At 8am, we could not locate her. She later came back.

“When she came back, her mother disciplined her and took away the cellphone. Everything appeared normal and she even escorted her mother on her way to Sakubva. However, she did not return home,” said Mr Wakatama.

Brutal Murder Of Girl (6) Traumatises Community

THE Odzi community is still to come to terms with the gruesome murder of a six-year-old Early Child Development (ECD) pupil who went missing three weeks ago.

Precious Majengeta’s mutilated body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition by a fellow villager who was on his way to water his vegetable garden.

The deceased’s mother, Ms Vimbai Hundivenga (25), had to endure the nightmare of having to identify her daughter’s body which had limbs and several internal organs missing.

When Ms Hundivenga prepared her daughter for school and bade her farewell on June 2, she had no idea that was the last time she was seeing Precious alive.

When Precious did not return home that day, Ms Hundivenga made a report of a missing person at Odzi Police Station the following day.

A search party could not locate her and Ms Hundivenga had to spend sleepless nights as she had no idea of her daughter’s whereabouts.

On June 17, Precious’ body was discovered by Tapiwa Mutonhore (20).

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda, said homicide detectives were investigating the case. He said Precious left home for Chisuma Primary School in the company of a Grade Six pupil at the same school.

“Mutonhore saw a bloodstained maroon school uniform. He quickly returned home and informed the village chairman, Mr Vengesai Ganyire (75).

“They teamed up and proceeded to inspect the said uniform.

They discovered the young girl’s mutilated body about two metres away from the uniform.

‘‘The duo went back to the village and informed the deceased’s mother of their discovery,” said Insp Chananda.- Manica Post

Gutu Slammed For Trivializing Gukurahundi

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition implores President Emmerson Mnangagwa to censure the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission Spokesperson, Obert Gutu over his recent reckless statement over the Gukurahundi massacres.

On June 23, 2021 Gutu claimed that the Gukurahundi massacres, which claimed an estimated 20 000 civilians in the Midlands and Matabeleland provinces in the 1980s was a ‘small tiny fraction’ of issues the NPRC is dealing with.

It is regrettable that a representative of a commission mandated to ensure national healing and reconciliation would seek to trivialize an issue of the magnitude of Gukurahundi and inflict more pain on victims and survivors of the government sanctioned massacres.

It is foolhardy to claim that Gukurahundi is ‘a small tiny fraction’ of issues faced by the NPRC.

The Gukurahundi massacres marked the beginning of state sponsored brutality against citizens (which has continued up to now) and dealt a deathblow to the concept of nationhood in Zimbabwe and as such cannot be dismissed as a small issue.

Gutu’s recent statement smacks of a ploy to sweep the issue of Gukurahundi under the carpet and leaves the nation convinced that there is lack of political will to address the issue and promote national healing and reconciliation.

The government of Zimbabwe must account for past atrocities such as Gukurahundi, the murder of opposition supporters during past elections (2000, 2002, 2008, 2018), Operation Murambatsvina of 2005 among other incidences that led to loss of lives and livelihoods and this calls for Gutu to desist from wearing the jacket of a government or political party spokesperson.

As Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, we reiterate our demand for an open and honest approach towards resolving the Gukurahundi issue. Gukurahundi is a big and key national scar.

That is where the Zimbabwe project died.

Bulawayo Not Under Lockdown, Says VP Chiwenga Deputy

John-Mangwiro

Bulawayo is not under the intensified lockdown measures which include the 6pm to 6am curfew measure, as recently announced in some sections of the media, Health and Child Care Deputy Minister John Mangwiro has said.
The announcement comes after the media has this week reported that the police in Bulawayo have introduced a curfew after some Bulawayo suburbs have been declared Covid-19 hotspots.

Dismissing the reports while addressing journalists in Harare yesterday Dr Mangwiro advised that only the Presidium announces such lockdown developments.

“I heard there are certain sections of the media purporting that Bulawayo is under lockdown.

“This is not correct. This statement is purporting that Nkulumane, Pelandaba, Emganwini, Sizinda, Emakhandeni, Cowdray Park, Pumula, and others are under lockdown. This is not correct.

“If there is going to be a lockdown, I would like to advise the public, such an announcement would be made by the Head of State who is the President Dr E.D. Mnangagwa or anyone he would have designated or the Minister of Health and Child Care or anyone designated to do that on his behalf.

“So this is not correct because the legal instruments are not in place, these have not been put in place, there is no legal basis for all this.

“So I would like to dismiss the statement that is making rounds on social media and if there is going to be such a thing, the public will be told at the appropriate time,” Dr Mangwiro said.

This week, Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube was quoted in the media saying effective yesterday, police would be deployed to monitor compliance.

“Business hours is now between 8AM– 3PM meaning that all shops and businesses in town must close at that time and this applies to the rest of the suburbs that have been declared hotspots.

“We are calling for maximum cooperation from members of the public so that we see this phase passing smoothly,” he said. -Chronicle

Citizens “Arrest ” Notorious Robber

FED up by increasing unlawful entry cases in their neighbourhood, residents of Mutare’s Dangamvura trailed a notorious burglar and arrested him, leading to the recovery of household property valued at more than $500 000.

Following Saidi Bwanali’s (42) citizens arrest on May 30, police operatives at ZRP Dangamvura interrogated him over the thefts and he subsequently sold out his accomplice, Fidelis Muzenda (31), who was then arrested at his house in Dangamvura.

The arrest of the duo helped the police clear several unlawful entry cases in which property valued more than $500 000 was recovered.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda said the arrest of the two suspects led to the recovery of household property, some of which has since been positively identified by complainants.

He said on May 30, police received information that Bwanali had been arrested by citizens in Gimboki.

“The suspect was arrested after citizens trailed footprints from a crime scene in Gimboki South where the accused had broken into Chioniso Tombo’s house.

“Bwanali led police officers to his girlfriend’s place at a nearby wooden cabin where some of the stolen items were being kept,” said Inspector Chinanda.

Thereafter, the two suspects did indications that resulted in several recoveries of the stolen property.

They planned and executed several break-ins at houses in Gimboki and other locations in Dangamvura, while the stolen items were sold in Dangamvura and Sakubva.

In some cases, the suspects would climb on rooftops to steal solar panels.

Police managed to recover property worth $300 000, including an open view decoder that had been sold to Lucia Adini of OTS in Sakubva.

During investigations, detectives noted that the suspects were targeting houses that would have been left unattended during the night.

It is believed that some of the cases are yet to be detected.- Manica Post

We Will Not Allow Chinamasa To Trample On Our Constitutional Rights- MDC Alliance Kwazulu-Natal

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Kwazulu-Natal has declared that Zanu PF has no right to block Zimbabweans in the diaspora from participating in the 2023 elections.

Advocate Mahere Dismisses Chinamasa Remarks On Diaspora Vote

Tinashe Sambiri|Zanu PF official Patrick Chinamasa has boasted that the army belongs to the former revolutionary party.

Chinamasa made the remarks in the capital, Harare on Thursday.

Chinamasa also declared that those in the diaspora would not be allowed to vote until sanctions have been removed…

“I cannot go to campaign in the United Kingdom because of sanctions as we all know and as long as that situation persists, we will say no vote to people in the diaspora because we will be allowing only those who have been asking for sanctions to have access to that electorate.

That of course is not acceptable, and we will not allow it. Sanctions must fall and then we will start talking about the diaspora vote,” said Chinamasa.

He also boasted of the strong link between Zanu PF and the army:
…who are the commanders of the army, who is the CDF [Commander Defence Forces], Cde Valerio Sibanda. Who was he? He was a leading general in ZIPRA.

Who is the commander of the national army, Cde Edzayi Chimonyo? Who was he? He was a leading commander in ZANLA.

That culture of defending the sovereignty of this country will continue…”

Responding to Chinamasa’s remarks about the diaspora vote, MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere tweeted:

Mr Chinamasa’s position is not only unconstitutional but grossly irrational. Zimbabweans abroad are entitled to the diaspora vote.

We take diaspora remittances yet they want to deny Zimbabweans suffrage? Nonsense upon stilts.”

MASVINGO – As Zanu PF continues with its huge meetings and rallies in violation of the lockdown, Masvingo’s sole Covid19 isolation Centre in Rujeko is almost full with eight of the 10 beds occupied.

Sources said that the center is now overwhelmed with inadequate oxygen stocks. Masvingo recorded its latest Covid19 death on Friday.

Provincial Covid19 spokesperson Rodgers Irimayi confirmed the number of patients at Rujeko Clinic and the latest figures for the province.

“There are eight people admitted at Rujeko Isolation Centre with Covid19 and a death was recorded at the centre on Friday,” said Irimayi.

Well places sources told The Mirror that most of the inmates work in the CBD with a manager of a top wholesaler and three of his subordinates admitted at the centre.

“The centre is overwhelmed and it does not have oxygen tanks. Nurses at the centre are struggling to help the patients because of this situation,” said the source.- Masvingo Mirror

Police Impound ZUPCO Buses For Violating Lockdown Regulations

Police in Mashonaland West Province, where several districts are under lockdown, have impounded some pirate taxis and at least nine intercity buses including two ZUPCO buses for flouting lockdown regulations.

Drivers of the pirate taxis plying the Chinhoyi-Karoi, Chinhoyi-Mhangura, Chinhoyi-Harare and Chinhoyi-Chegutu routes were arrested while the buses were taken to Chinhoyi Central Police Station.

This was revealed by police officer commanding Mashonaland West (Operations), Assistant Commissioner Martin Nyirenda while speaking at an emergency provincial Civil Protection Unit (CPU) meeting attended by representatives from key Government departments. He said:

As police, we are conducting patrols and as we speak, along the Harare-Chirundu highway, we have nine long-distance and intercity buses that have been impounded and are currently at Chinhoyi Central Police Station.

Among these buses include two Zimbabwe United Passengers Company (ZUPCO) buses that were operating intercity routes against COVID-19 regulations.

We are not allowing intercity buses to cross these hotspot districts.

Provincial development coordinator and CPU chairperson, Josphat Jaji said they have noted with concern that from the COVID-19 fatalities that the province recorded, all people were not vaccinated.

He pleaded with provincial heads to lead by example by taking the jab to lessen the severity of the virus.- The Herald

Football Fraternity Mourns Chidzambwa

By A Correspondent- Condolence messages have been pouring in from every direction after the football fraternity woke up to the sad news of the passing on of former Warriors coach, Misheck Chidzambwa.

Chidzambwa died on Thursday night at the age of 66.

The former defender has been unwell since last year.

He becomes the third Zimbabwean football legend to die inside a month following the passing on of another DeMbare and Warriors great, David “Yogi” Mandigora, and the iconic former Dynamos and Warriors coach, Mick Poole.

“Our sincere condolences to the Chidzambwa family and the local football family at large following the passing of legendary Warriors player and coach Misheck Chidzambwa. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased,” said ZIFA in a statement.

Chidzambwa and his elder brother, Sunday, who has now retired from active football coaching, were legends of domestic football.

He made history by becoming the first captain to lift silverware with the Warriors when Zimbabwe won the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup at Rufaro in 1985 under the tutelage of Poole, who sadly passed away in the United Kingdom last week, at the age of 85 years.

Interestingly, Zimbabwe’s second silverware came in 2000 when Chidzambwa led the Warriors to their first COSAFA Cup success.

The fact that Zimbabwe had wait 15 years to win another tournament illustrated the importance of that early silverware.

At club level, Chidzambwa won seven league titles with his beloved Dynamos.

“We are saddened by the passing away of a great player and coach Misheck Chidzambwa. Chidzambwa won seven titles with us, was the first Warriors captain to win silverware and first Warriors coach to win COSAFA Cup,” said the statement from Dynamos.

Chidzambwa also had coaching stints with a number of domestic topflight clubs, including Chapungu.

Mourners are gathered at house number 10 Samanyanga Close Zengeza 5, Chitungwiza.

Man Survives Lion Attack

By A Correspondent- A 49-year-old Hurungwe in a hospital where he is nursing serious wounds sustained from a lion attack.

Isa Chitenje sensationally claimed during a live show on a local radio station that he survived being mauled by a lion by forcing his hand into its mouth during the attack.

In an interview with the state media yesterday, Chitenje, a gardener attached to Tiger Safaris in Mujinga Village, Hurungwe said he is still nursing injuries following the attack on May 13 this year.

“It is only by the grace of the Lord that I survived and I would like to thank my fellow workers Thomas Dzamba, Takesure Dzamba and Amos Dzamba who heard my cry and rushed to scare the lion when it was dragging me into the bush,” said Chitenje.

“I was on my way from Chirundu shopping centre going home at around 6pm when the lion attacked me.

“I do not know how I thought of forcing my hand into its mouth and that reduced its strength and I shouted for help.

“It scratched most parts of my body with its jaws and upon seeing people it left me and disappeared into the bush.

“It is my prayer that I respond well to treatment I am receiving but I am facing challenges in meeting the medical bills,” he said.

Arrested Epworth Baby Snatcher Makes Shocking Revelations

By A Correspondent- An Epworth woman who was arrested yesterday for stealing an infant from Epworth poly-clinic has made some shocking revelations.

Christine Gwashavanhu from Murewa and a former teacher at three different schools in Mt Darwin told the police that “I was going to kill the baby and take head abroad in a cooler box”.

A 33-year-old woman, who was stopped from escaping Epworth Polyclinic with a stolen baby, says she would have gotten a kombi in South Africa if her mission had been successful.

Christine, who stays in Overspill, Epworth and claims to be a widowed mother of three, had initially used the name Jossy Kanzimbe before a close relative volunteered the correct name to police details handling the matter.

Police suspect, she might have been involved in other criminal activities hence the use of “Jossy Kanzimbe” name.

Yesterday it emerged that on Wednesday Christine first had access to a baby whose weight was “too much” before settling for the second option.

Emma Muwonde with the baby she almost lost on Wednesday

Such was the laxity of security at the clinic that she even took clinic regalia from one of the immediate rooms on arrival.

She then disguised herself as a general hand at the clinic, started sweeping the floor and gained access into five rooms before getting to the maternity ward where she pounced on Emma Muwonde’s baby.

Yesterday, Christine was taken to the crime scene where she exposed holes in the clinic’s security.

She told H-Metro it was her second time at the clinic but for different reasons.

“It was my second time to come to the clinic and this time I wanted to steal the baby for sale in a neighbouring country.

“My first visit here was to see one of my friends, who had given birth some time ago.”

She then explained what pushed her into the daring act on Wednesday.

The plan was to steal a baby, behead it and take the head in a cooler box across the border where she would get a kombi in return. She would need a supply of ice through the journey.

All these plans despite not having a current passport as her old one expired.

“One of my friends who is based in a neighbouring country promised to give me a commuter omnibus in exchange of a baby’s head.

“Mwana uyu dai ndakabudirira ndaizonomuuraya ndega ndoisa musoro wacho mu cooler box ndoisa ma ice blocks kusvika ndasvika nawo.

“My passport expired some time back but I was going to find my way to leave the country with the baby’s head.

“I was going to bury the other body parts,” said Christine.

Yesterday she led police officers into six rooms, including the maternity ward where she stole the baby after fooling the mother that her shoes had been placed in a bin outside.

“Upon entering the clinic I took a hat which was left hanging next to the entrance and put it on.

“I entered another room and took a hospital gown and put it on, collected a broom and started sweeping to disguise security officers in the vicinity.

“Mumwe wesecurity akandivhunza kuti ndiri sei uye basa ndikati zvose bhoo ndichinorasa marara kubin.

“Ndakazopinda mune imwe room ndikatora cooler box ranga riine syringes and other medical equipment ndikazviputira muplastic ndikanozviisa mune imwe room.

“I entered maternity ward and witnessed that one of the midwives was attending to a pregnant woman, who was about to give birth.

“I got hold of one baby and left it since the weight was too much. I then moved to my next target, stole her shoes, went away and placed them in a dust bin.

“Upon returning I went into another ward where I pretended to be making the bed.

“I discovered that my target was looking for her shoes and went back into the maternity ward where I told her to go and look for her shoes outside.

“As soon as she left the ward to look for the shoes I had hidden, I took her baby, my plastic bag and left the clinic. However, at the gate I failed to provide proof of giving birth and a receipt leading to my arrest.”

Her victim, Emma Muwonde, 32, told H-Metro that she collapsed upon discovering that her baby –her fourth – had vanished.

“Ndakapera simba ndikadonha ndashaya mwana wangu,” she said.

On finding her shoes outside, Emma then stopped for a chat with a staffer at the clinic inadvertently giving Christine more room to manoeuvre.

“Ndakaita nyaya nevamwe sister pandakanotora bhutsu dzangu dzaakanga akanda mubin,” said Muwonde.

Yesterday people gathered at the clinic as police carried out their investigations, baying for Christine’s blood.

Mighty Warriors have remained unmoved and outside the top 100 on the latest FIFA Women’s Ranking released on Friday.

MDC Alliance Scoffs At Douglas Mwonzora Presidential Election Victory Projection

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance has dismissed the projection by MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora that he will win the 2023 Presidential Election by a sweeping 66% margin as mere wishful thinking.

Mwonzora recently declared he would romp to victory in the 2023 Presidential plebiscite.

See the MDC Alliance Namibia response to Mwonzora’s projection :

Voting Mwonzora is tantamount to voting Zanupf, Mdc Alliance Namibia lampoons MdcT President’s 66% victory projection.

23 June 2021

Mdc Alliance Namibia scorns the ovér ambitiousness of the counterfeit social democrat, Mr Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora. It was quite pathetic to witness Mwonzora’s daughter, Bertha echoing her father’s senseless declaration that he will win the 2023 presidential election with a massive landslide of 66% as people often make the mistake of undermining him. Desperate and frustrated Mwonzora made the claim during an interview with Heart and Soul Television’s Blessed Dhara Mhlanga. As focused constitutional fighters in Namibia, we want to make it very clear to the Zanupf-sponsored Mwonzora and his disillusioned family members that Zimbabweans are cognisant of the calibre of democratic leaders they want.

The political texture displayed by Mwonzora soon after the Supreme Court judgement in March 2020 revealed that he tried to sell the national democratic project to Zanupf. From that period, Mr Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora commenced to act the Zanupf way which manifested in violence , corruption and lack of transparency and accountability with party coffers. It was perturbing to learn from a member of the judicially-constructed MdcT accusing Douglas of embezzling party funds amounting to $300 000. This misappropriation of public funds is synonymous to Zanupf culture of eating on behalf of the masses. The citizenry is watching with wide open eyes and we shall urge them to vote against the senseless and barefaced corruption practised by Zanupf and their surrogates.

Moreover, in this scenerio, we expect no cover up of this gross abuse of party funds. Patson Murimoga and Leonard Chisvo, members of the surrogate party reported Mwonzora to the police for the stolen $300 000 under case number RRB 4586626 and Zaac respectively. Although, the police confirmed that they were still investigating him, we know because of the unholy alliance between Mwonzora and Zanupf, he will not account for the embezzlement since it is inherent in his master’s government. It is bare for citizens to realise that Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora has sold tried in vain to sell the revolutionary train to the enemies for his personal aggrandisement. The enthusiasm in his daughter mirrors her sweet taste of the ill-gotten wealth from both public and private organisations by her cunning father. Citizens must smell the coffee and vote theft by conversion out in 2023.

Furthermore, by failing to bring Mwonzora to book, it becomes obvious that the MdcT president is now enjoying impunity like his Zanupf cronies who smuggle gold, diamonds and platinum willy nilly. The unconstitutional expulsion of the Mdc T 2014 Organising Secretary Abednicho Bhebhe during the provincial nominations of the presidential candidates towards the Extraordinary Congress unravelled Mwonzora’s undemocratic tendencies hence not worth electing come 2023. He showed his totalitarian appetite because he abused his court-given powers to suffocate Constitutional Democracy where people are free to choose the leadership they want. Mr Bhebhe and his constituency were denied their democratic right to be elected and to elect. This is a clear reflection that Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora is a symbol of authoritarianism and dictatorship.

In addition, the culture of violence and rigging of elections at the inquorate Extraordinary Congress held in December 2020 where Dr Khupe was physically assaulted by Mwonzora’s thugs becomes a key feature to qualify Mwonzora as a typical thugocratic , violent and corrupt Zanupf politician. When he boasts about taking over the Morgan Tsvangirai House and winning successive court cases, the citizens are aware that he is being aided by his masters and mistresses in Zanupf who have captured the judiciary. Mwonzora is an epitome of corruption that is why Mdc Alliance Namibia urges all progressive citizens to frown these stomach politicians who exploit state apparatus as springboards for the primitive accumulation of state resources.

What hypnotizes Mdc Alliance Namibia is that besides day dreaming of harvesting a massive 66% poll victory in 2023, what has he done to prepare for such an astounding victory? Has he demanded any political and electoral reform? Has he ensured the independence of the captured Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) which takes instructions from the Shake Shake building? What has done to ensure judiciary independence? What has done to make sure that the soldiers, police and all state securocrats protect the people not individuals? What has he done to fight gross abuse of human rights defenders and opposition activists who are enduring illegal convictions and denial of bail? What has he done to fight abductions and arbitrary arrests of journalists and political activists? What has he done to fight the capture of the national radios and television towards 2023? As a district , we are yearning to witness one rally addressed by Mwonzora as the President of the Zanupf surrogate party.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia has the conviction that Zanupf looters and corrupt Mwonzora are identical twins. They must stay away very far away from state power because it is detrimental to the peaceful existence of citizens and the safety of the national cake.

2023 Diaspora Vote: MDC Alliance Takes On Chinamasa

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Kwazulu-Natal has declared that Zanu PF has no right to block Zimbabweans in the diaspora from participating in the 2023 elections.

Go Well Misheck Marimo Chidzambwa …

Zanu PF Continues To Expose Citizens To COVID-19

MASVINGO – As Zanu PF continues with its huge meetings and rallies in violation of the lockdown, Masvingo’s sole Covid19 isolation Centre in Rujeko is almost full with eight of the 10 beds occupied.

Sources said that the center is now overwhelmed with inadequate oxygen stocks. Masvingo recorded its latest Covid19 death on Friday.

Masvingo recorded 65 new Covid-19 cases yesterday and it now has 338 active cases, one of the highest by any province in the country. Zanu PF had a big meeting in Chiredzi a few weeks ago and another in Masvingo at the weekend.

Diaspora Vote Is A Non-Negotiable Right

With or without the non-negotiable basic right to diaspora vote, Social Democrats in Namibia shall register to vote in Zimbabwe.

25 June 2021

Mdc Alliance Namibia remains convinced that diaspora vote is a non-negotiable right conforming to the Supreme Law of the Republic of Zimbabwe as stipulated on Section 155 which equivocally states that all citizens should vote regardless of their geographical location. This has meant that the diaspora vote is absolutely provided by the 2013 constitution of the motherland. Chinamasa’s lunatic utterances declaration that there will be ,”No diaspora vote until sanctions are removed”, this Zanupf’s clear attempt to muzzle democratic space in the country. This ruining party called Zanupf must know that the First and Second Chimurengas were fought to achieve One-man–one-vote hence diaspora vote becomes given in ConstitutionalDemocracy.

It is public knowledge that the targeted sanctions against Zanupf satanists accused of high levels of human butchery, corruption and daylight looting were not invited by the diaspora residents. Our plea as social democrats in the diaspora is that Zanupf must reform itself from its tendencies of arbitrary arrests and detention of human rights for the targeted sanctions to be removed. Those who reside in the diaspora are victims of politically-motivated violence , corruption, looting , state-sponsored deaths and escalating unemployment so linking them with sanctions is a sign serious political ineptitude on the side of the empty-headed acting political commissar.

Moreover, our message to the regime represented by Mr Chinamasa is that whether the diaspora has been granted or not , social democrats in the diaspora especially in Namibia and the whole of Africa are prepared to register in Zimbabwe, go and vote in 2023 and peacefully defend the vote the inherent rigging of the people will by Zanupf and surrogates. Right now our external branches ,districts and provinces are busy mobilising , recruiting and radicalising to win Zimbabwe for complete change in 2023. We are going to fight for our fundamental basic right to vote in our host countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and America so that we achieve socio-economic liberation in the motherland. We know the culture of dictatorship and monocracy but this time around, Zanupf and their surrogates are going to be vanguished by social transformers led President Advocate Nelson Chamisa Wamba Dia Wamba.

Furthermore, Patrick Chinamasa told reporters at a news conference in Harare that the party would not be able to effectively compete due to travel restrictions imposed by some western countries on certain Zanupf officials cited for human rights violation. He further elucidated,”I can’t go to the United Kingdom and campaign because of sanctions , we all know that. My colleagues here are all under sanctions”, he told journalists at the shake shake building. The clueless Zanupf official added that, now, as long as that situation persists and continues , we will say “no vote” to the people in the diaspora, because then we will be allowing only those who have access to that electorate if they are voting. This is a clear reflection of oppression, repression and suppression of citizens in a banana republic or pariah state.

Mdc Alliance Namibia is quite conscious on Zanupf’s nightmare when it comes to diaspora vote. The Harare knows that the diaspora residents are victims of gross abuse of human rights and corruption which saw them fleeing the country to seek political , social and economic refugee in which respect and honour the dignity of human beings. Zanupf is very sure that in the diaspora they are are assured of any meaningful number of votes. We urge all social democrats across the globe to take this opportunity to Go and Register to Vote, Go and Vote in 2023 so that we can transform our livelihoods. The desperate Zanupf regime should know that 21 years of confronting autocracy is a mountainous task and pro-poor fighters are ready to take a flight from the USA to go and vote in Zimbabwe. Chinamasa and cronies must relax because Constitutionalists are ready to fight for the diaspora vote whilst registered to vote in Zimbabwe.

Moreso, even as desperate Zanupf is refusing Zimbabwe’s diaspora a vote, Chinamasa said Zimbweans in the diaspora who have “built enormous skills in various sectors” must “look back home and make their contribution to the economic development of this country” which is beyond nonsense according to Rundu Branch Spokesperson. This attempt to continue exploiting citizens for benefit of a few elite in Zanupf must be resisted with equal measure. The diaspora residents’ to the nation must be applauded by granting them the basic universal human right to choose the leadership that will motivate to come back to the motherland. The ugly political ,economic and social situation in Zimbabwe is favourable to any willing returnee. There is no freedom of expression and association, there is no guarantee to security of persons and their properties. This scares away potential investors in the motherland.

To wind it up, politically bankrupt Zanupf should not try to use sanctions as tradable political step to lobby for removal of targeted before it grants Zimbabweans living in the diaspora to exercise their constitutional right to vote. Geographical factors are not barriers since we are busy coordinating all social democrats to actively participate in the national discourse through their commitment to vote in 2023. We shall fight for diaspora vote as registered voters in Zimbabwe so that we don’t miss our golden opportunity to vote our corruption, graft, nepotism, tribalism, muzzling of democracy and illegal convictions of our leadership.

Right now Cde Makomborero Haruzivishe languishing in the hell hole of Chikurubi Maximum Prison for mere whistling in town. Our leaders Mukoma Last Maengahama and Tungamirai Madzokere were incarcerated for 10 donkey years for a crime they didn’t commit. We mobilise towards #CitizensConvergenceForChange so that we constitutionally and democratically remove belly politicians of plunder and self-enrichment.

Advocate Mahere Blasts “Useless” Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission

The MDC Alliance yesterday accused the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) of lacking independence and political will to investigate “chronic” corruption, adding that it should be disbanded.

MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere told journalists that ZACC was failing to execute its mandate, hence the Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo-led commission should be dissolved. She said;

ZACC should be disbanded if it does not have the capacity and the political will to investigate the chronic corruption that is killing us, if it cannot act independently, of course, this must be part of a raft of wider political reforms as we repeatedly demand in the MDC Alliance.

Mahere said the Auditor-General’s report that was released recently showed massive looting of national resources and citizens demand accountability. She said:

On corruption, the (2019) Auditor-General’s report has come out and it tells a sad and ongoing tale of looting.

It is the citizens that pay the price of looting and so we demand answers and urgent investigations into the outcome of that report.

Citizens bear the brunt of bad governance, so we demand accountability. Corruption is killing us.

Mahere also condemned the ongoing demolitions of illegal structures in Harare Metropolitan Province, saying they are being spearheaded by “a heartless and illegitimate regime.” She said:

Operation Murambatsvina 2 is a stark reminder of the unquestionable fact that Zanu PF is against the people, it is at war with the people and it does not have the people at heart.

The MDC Alliance official further called for the urgent repeal of Statutory Instrument 127 of 2021 which she said: “creates an artificial exchange rate.”- NewsDay

Army Belongs To Zanu PF, Boasts Chinamasa

Stampede For COVID-19 Vaccines As Third Wave Wreaks Havoc

The COVID-19 third wave, already wreaking havoc in the country, has triggered a stampede for vaccines, with statistics showing a fourfold increase in the number of people being inoculated across the country within 24 hours.

The demand has forced private health institutions to take advantage and charge for the jab following reports that government stocks of the vaccine have run dry at a time when demand has increased.

The country’s vaccination programme had been marred by apathy since it was launched by Vice-President and Health minister Constantino Chiwenga in February this year.

But since the advent of the third wave, that has seen infections skyrocketing to as high as 766 recorded on Wednesday, the demand for the vaccines has increased, figures show.

According to the Health and Child Care ministry, the number of people who received their first dose jumped from 2 157 on June 22 to 8 898 the next day.

“About 8 898 received their first dose today (June 23), bringing cumulative for first doses to 715 056, while 11 573 received their second doses, bringing cumulative for second dose to 451 793,” the statistics read.

However, health experts have attributed the stampede to fear, as it has been discovered that most of the people who are falling seriously sick were unvaccinated.

The prevalence of the dreaded Indian variant also triggered the stampede.

Zimbabwe expects to receive 2,5 million COVID-19 doses from China by the end of this month as the country seeks to boost its vaccination drive after several centres ran out of doses, which has caused the panic.

COVID-19 national taskforce chief coordinator Agnes Mahomva yesterday attributed the surge in the number of people thronging the COVID-19 centres to the realisation that the vaccines were a life saver.

“The public has come to realise that the vaccines are helping people from not failing sick,” she said. “Vaccines in the country remain for free.”

Medical and Dental Private Practitioners Association of Zimbabwe president Johannes Marisa said: “This is due to panic, people are now stampeding to get the vaccine because of fear.

“It has been shown that the majority of people who are falling seriously sick were those who are not vaccinated. So people are now realising the importance of the vaccine and they are now running around to get inoculated.”

Mpilo Central Hospital acting chief executive Solwayo Ngwenya said what triggered the huge interest in the uptake of vaccines was that people were desperate, and were scared as they at first were dismissive of COVID-19.

Community Working Group on Health executive director Itai Rusike said the high numbers of COVID-19-related deaths and illnesses the country is witnessing had seen an increase in the number of people deciding to take the jab out of fear of being infected.

Health deputy minister John Magwiro at the weekend said unvaccinated people were dominating the present run of COVID-19 positive cases, with most infected people showing symptoms and most clusters of infection being initiated by someone who became infected outside the country.

The country has faced a shortage in vaccines at major centres in Harare and Bulawayo.

FULL TEXT: Censor Obert Gutu, Mnangagwa Told

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition implores President Emmerson Mnangagwa to censure the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission Spokesperson, Obert Gutu over his recent reckless statement over the Gukurahundi massacres.

On June 23, 2021 Gutu claimed that the Gukurahundi massacres, which claimed an estimated 20 000 civilians in the Midlands and Matabeleland provinces in the 1980s was a ‘small tiny fraction’ of issue the NPRC is dealing with.

Govt Owned Kuvimba Mining House Dumped By South African CEO

Suspected Fraudster Nabbed, Hauled To Court

By A Correspondent- A suspected fraudster who allegedly posed as an Econet airtime dealer appeared in court for duping an unsuspecting airtime vendor of $1 507 000.

The suspect, Michael Mutsvunguma, appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi charged with fraud.

On June 20, 2021, an unnamed complainant wanted to buy wholesale airtime from Econet Wireless and the accused told him that he would facilitate the transaction.

Mutsvunguma told the complainant to deposit $1 507 000 into an Econet’s Stanbic Bank account, adding that the airtime would be ready for collection by the end of the day.

The complainant made an internal transfer of $1 507 000 from his company’s Stanbic Bank account into the one that had been supplied by the accused.

The accused went to an Econet branch and misrepresented that he had been sent by the complainant and collected the money, sold it on the black market to one David Itayi Sachirahwe, where he got US$11 188, but failed to deliver the airtime to the complainant.

He was arrested on June 22 in the central Harare after a tip-off by the complainant.

“ZACC Has Failed And Must Be Reformed”: Demanded MDC A- Posturing What Reforms Did GNU Implement

By Patrick Guramatunhu- “ZACC should be disbanded if it does not have the capacity and the political will to investigate the chronic corruption that is killing us, if it cannot act independently, of course this must be part of a raft of wider political reforms as we repeatedly demand in the MDC Alliance,” said Fadzayi Mahere, MDC A spokesperson.

Daring Girlfriend Sends Grieving Widow Raunchy Pictures

By A Correspondent- Grieving after the death of a spouse or significant other is a difficult moment such that negative attitudes and hurtful words from your rivals can make it even more difficult to cope.

Normally, one might be good at ignoring those negative comments, but not for Loice Nyamhingura from Sauerstown suburb in Bulawayo.

For her it was a painful attack when she lost her husband Isaac Nyamhingura and then his alleged mistress Tracey Matandamanyoro from Emakhandeni suburb sent her “raunchy” pictures of her and her late husband in bed, bragging that she was the one who last had sex with him during the last days of his life.

Loice, who felt Matandamanyoro committed the rudest thing during her time of grieving, last week approached the Bulawayo Civil Court and sued her for disturbing her peace and disrespecting her.

In her founding affidavit, for a peace order, Loice said after the death of her husband sometime in January this year, Matandamanyoro started insulting her while asking her how she was coping by sleeping alone at night knowing that her husband was no more forever.

“I am seeking a peace order against Tracey Matandamanyoro from Emakhandeni suburb. She was having an affair with my late husband Isaac Nyamhingura. I came to know of it sometime in July 2020 when she contacted me saying that she was Isaac’s wife and I should leave him alone,” said Loice.

She said she sternly charged her not to phone her, but a seemingly daring Matandamanyoro continued harassing her with phone calls and text messages.

“After the death of my husband in January 2021 she started insulting me while asking how I was sleeping at night knowing that my husband is no more. She also said that she was Isaac’s wife and he should have divorced me for her as I was abusing him when he was still alive. She also sends a picture of Isaac and her in bed claiming that she was the last one to sleep with him before he died.

“She appears to be a threat and dangerous to me and my children as she claims to know my younger son. I would like the law to stop her from contacting me as I am still grieving and trying to heal,” she begged presiding magistrate Nomagugu Sindisiwe Maphosa.

Matandamanyoro, apparently fearing the humiliation of a trial, didn’t come to court to defend her actions leading the magistrate to grant an order in Loice’s favour.

The magistrate ordered Matandamanyoro not to send messages to Loice or phone her as well as not to interfere with her son’s life.

Critical Thinking Workshops: Preparing African Children For Future Jobs And Challenges

primary school learners

By Leo Igwe- After decades of planning and setbacks, the project to introduce critical reasoning to primary schools took off in Ibadan in southwest Nigeria.

The event, held on June 23, was not marked by any fun fare as we know it. But it was historic in every respect.

Funmade Nursery and primary school, a little-known elementary school, located off Jericho-Eleyele road was the venue of the event. The school was the first primary school to host the first thought laboratory because it was the first primary school that agreed to organizing the critical thinking workshop.

The workshop comprised two sessions. The first session was for the teachers. There were five teachers in attendance. During the training session, the organizers drew the attention of teachers to the importance of critical thinking skills.

It was noted that critical thinking skills were among the top 10 skills of tomorrow, and among most sought after competences by employers. Double disruption in the global economy due to increasing automation and the pandemic has made re-skilling and up-skilling necessary.

Fostering critical thinking should part of the re-skilling and up-skilling process in schools. Teachers were also reminded that part of the objective of primary education was to lay a solid foundation for reflective and critical thinking.

Incidentally there is no subject on critical reasoning in primary school. With the critical thinking project, the situation is about to change. The workshop has been initiated to fulfill this goal and complement verbal and quantitative reasoning programs in schools.
The teachers explored the various definitions of critical thinking.

When asked to present their views and understanding of critical thinking, some said that critical thinking meant deep thinking; others said it was looking at a thing from different perspectives. The teachers discussed the operationalized notion of critical reasoning-asking or generating questions that guided the development of the modules.

They did some sample exercises from the texts and were instructed on how to guide the pupils during lessons. The teachers and organizers joined in conducting the workshop for pupils and in assisting them carry out the exercises. Both sessions lasted for an hour thirty minutes.

There are plans to take the critical thinking workshops to other private and state schools in Oyo state. The Oyo state school board has authorized the organization of workshops for all primary schools. It is hoped that the critical thinking project will contribute to the improvement of child education and development in the country.

The African school system needs a paradigm shift and a radical change in the culture of learning and education of students. Teaching critical thinking is set to trigger that shift and transformation. It will stimulate intellectual awakening and renaissance in schools.

Part of the reason for Africa’s underdevelopment is a dearth of requisite intellectual skills. Fostering critical reasoning will equip the children of today for the jobs of tomorrow. Critical reasoning will better position African pupils to confront the challenges of the 21st century and beyond.

It will help them make sense of a world marked by a rapid flow of information and misinformation. Critical thinking will prepare African school boys and girls to effectively participate and contribute to a global economy driven by increasing automation, technological innovations, and disruptions.

ZANU PF Banks On Army For Political Survival, Chinamasa Drops Bombshell

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ruling Zanu-PF party yesterday said it would continue banking on the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) for political survival because the two are tied together by the liberation struggle.

Dogs Devour 88yr Old Missing Granny

By A Correspondent- Two human bones, believed to be remains of an 88 year old granny who was reported missing last month, have been located at her homestead and police are now investigating her grandchild for suspected murder.

One of the bones was allegedly found being eaten by a dog and further investigations by the police led to the discovery of another bone in the fields at the woman’s homestead in Njini Village under Chief Sogwala in Lower Gweru.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said investigations into the disappearance of the granny previously reported missing led to unearthing of a suspected murder case.

He said Ms Cini Bhebhe allegedly went missing on May 7 and a missing person’s report was made to the police on June 22.

“The woman, Cini Bhebhe, was staying in Njini village, under Chief Sogwala in Lower Gweru.

“She was staying with her grandson Proud Bhebhe (42) suspected to be mentally ill. Reported circumstances are that, Cini Bhebhe left home on May 7 intending to visit her sister in Mtabeni village under the same Chief, Sogwala,” said Insp Mahoko.

Ms Bhebhe, he said, allegedly did not reach her destination and was never seen again thereafter.

On Wednesday, Insp Mahoko said Ms Bhebhe’s son Never (68) reported that the family had discovered their mother’s blood stained clothes and a bone suspected to be that of a human being eaten by a dog.

“Police attended the scene and during searches in the fields at the homestead, two suspected human bones were discovered. They also discovered what appeared like a shallow grave which was dug up but nothing was found inside,” he said.

Insp Mahoko said the suspected human bones were taken to Maboleni police station pending examination by experts.

“Proud Bhebhe is being treated as a suspect and investigations are underway. We appeal to members of the public who might have information that can help in this case to pass it to any nearest police station,” he said.

Tatoos End Marriage

By A Correspondent- A Zvishavane man filed for divorce because his wife got tattoos on her butt and another one inscribed on her inner thigh reading “forever”.

In court papers, which are set to be heard at the Zvishavane Civil Court Agrippa Mazvipa from Makwasha suburb, claimed the tattoos spotted by his wife Shylet Machingauta deeply hurt him as they hinted that she was cheating on him.

He said the tatoos Machingauta got at the instigation of her friends also “disgust” him as they seem to remind her of a special time with someone else.

In his suit, Mazvipa stated that there was no love anymore between him and Machingauta, reiterating that their customary marriage had irretrievably broken down and there were no prospects of a restoration to a normal relationship.

Besides being violent to him, Mazvipa stated that the main reason that ‘put him off’ his wife was the tatoos.

“I am customarily married to Shylet Machingauta and we have two minor children together. Our marriage has irretrievably broken down as I suspect that she is cheating on me after she got tatoos on her back and another one inscribed on her inner thigh reading ‘forever’.

“She got the tattoos without my knowledge and I was quite shocked, especially when she told me that she did it on the advice of her friends. I was respecting her as my wife and mother of our children until the day she showed me the tattoos.

“As a Christian I hate tattoos and the ones she spotted just put me off her immediately.

“We are now living separately and as a result there are no prospects of restoration to a normal relationship because we now have irreconcilable differences which render the continuance of the relationship impossible,” read the papers in part.

He further stated that as a couple they have also lost love and affection for each other after Machingauta refused to get rid of the tattoos.

Mazvipa argued that whenever he confronted her about the tattoos, Machingauta would become violent and start to verbally and physically abuse him.

Mazvipa, who said he would take care of their children’s upkeep upon the dissolution of their marriage, wants to have their matrimonial property to be shared equally.

Machingauta’s response is set to be heard when the parties appear in court.

Prophet Beats Up Mistress Who Visited Him At Home

By A Correspondent- In a fit of rage prophet Trymore Bizari charged at his mistress and hit her with clenched fists after she visited him at his home in Bulawayo’s Mahatshula suburb to seek his assistance in fixing her car.

A close friend of Bizari who runs Victory in Christ International Ministries said while Bizari (35) was relaxing at his home with his wife, his mistress Sizalobuhle Ndlovu (36) stormed into the living room.

“Bizari, who looked unsettled, greeted his lover (Sizalobuhle) and introduced her to a woman whom he said was his wife. After that the atmosphere in the house got tense,” said Bizari’s confidante.

Bizari stood up and charged at Sizalobuhle while demanding car keys.

“Sizalobuhle told him to fix her car which was parked in his yard and before she could give him the car keys Bizari grabbed her by the throat and hit her with fists all over the body,” said his close friend.

The raging Bizari, who had a point to prove, pulled Sizalobuhle by her hair while hurling obscenities at her, said his close friend.

The violent cleric dashed to the car and opened the door on the driver’s side and took a hand bag.

“He searched it and emptied the contents on the ground. As if that was not enough he broke her phone and threw away the pieces,” his close friend told B- Metro.

Sizalobuhle screamed and attracted the attention of neighbours.

“Bizari grabbed her and shoved his hand into her bra and took the car keys before rushing to the car. He started the car and drove off, leaving onlookers shocked at his unbecoming behaviour,” said the confidante.

Sizalobuhle reported the matter at Bulawayo Central Police Station.

Contacted for comment Bizari ranted at this reporter saying: “Iwe unotaura kuti B-Metro, ita ka story yacho. Haunyari Satan, uri mbeu yeGehena.”

Efforts to get a comment from Sizalobuhle were fruitless as her mobile number was not reachable.
