Exposed: Mnangagwa’s New Dispensation In Rampant Looting Spree

Tinashe Sambiri|The so called new dispensation under the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa has been caught in a looting spree in Kwekwe.

Impeccable sources have revealed how Zanu PF bigwigs are plundering government and city council resources in Kwekwe at will.

See letter below:

THE GRAFT ROT RUNS UNPRECEDENTEDLY DEEPER IN PRESIDENT’, AND MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT’S’ HOME CITY COUNCIL OF KWEKWE, INSIDERS ALLEGES’.

June 26, 2021. Kwekwe.

Information doing serious rounds in and around the communities of Kwekwe, and within the corridors of Kwekwe Civic Centre, and other institutions are that of long standing serious corruption practices by Council bureaucracy, headed by Acting Town Clerk (ATC) Lucia Mkadhla, and through a network of other beneficiaries within the local public sector, private sector, professionals, some local politicians, and through local party factions. The later, allegedly being used by the corrupt management as a ‘buffer’ in the even that things come to head.

Areas allegedly used as conduits includes, tender/procurement, commercial and low density land/stands, Human Resource and grading system, Acting allowances and educational allowances for non existing school children, and many others.

This is said to be seriously compounded by serious incompetency on the part of the ATC who resorts to ‘farm type intimidating bossboy management approach’. Hence seriously exposing management incompetencies since positioned as ATC.

It is further alleged that this intimidatory, and systematic ‘grand graft oily approach’ has been keeping the rot under lid, as none among the HODs and employees would dare raise a finger.
On the other hand, taking advantage of the entirely new crop of opposition councillors who are kept suffocated of critical council information.

However, the wider and open talk around the alleged serious corruption and poor management of the city came as a result of the resolution by the full council meeting on 21 May 2021, to ‘commission forensic audit’ on the Central Administration Department.
This department houses : low density housing stands: Commercial land: industrial land: Human Resource department: Security section: and Fire Brigade, among others. And these Falls directly under the Acting Town Clerk, (ATC) Mrs Lucia Mkadhla’s command.

Insiders, and locals say that the levels of corruption are of long standing, but were closely guarded as it involves senior council bureaucratic: local politicians: security sector and local professional people. The council management is also allegedly fronting their relatives: friends and workers of their privately owned companies that are registered in relatives etc names. Further allegations are that even local Scribers and local Anti Graft advocators, are alleged to have benefited unprocedurally in land scandals as a way of being silenced’.

And indeed, unlike them in the past, the local scribers have ‘gone to sleep’ in the wake of the glaring scandals, and the obtaining bush management style of this public entity.

Kwekwe City Council has been without a substantive Town Clerk (TC,) since December 2018 when the then incumbent and long serving TC, Ngwena Musara reached retirement age. Thus the then newly voted in 13 MDCA councilors and 1 ZANU PF team appointed Chamber Secretary Lucia Mkandla as Acting Town Clerk (ATC) in January 2019.

That the Rot is unprecedentedly of shocking levels of corruption, spanning over length periods of time, but lately worsened by a combination of serious graft and poor/incompetent corporate management under the charge of Acting Town Clerk.

The Unprecedented deep corruption allegations: unprecedented poor corporate governance, run deep veins within the City of Kwekwe, and said to also have influenced its dormitory town of Redcliff, to follow suit’ well placed insiders revealed’ !

And to think that these are ‘Home towns to both the President, and the Minister responsible for municipalities?, and the minister for state security?

All along, Kwekwe has been tauted as ‘clean of corruption when compared with other cities’. This having been advanced by the same current management and the successive management. Kind of ‘self serving protective mantra’.

It is revealed that the rot has been closely guarded politically, as the corruption practice involves heavy weights management and local politicians.

Thus, over the years, People and officials had been talking in lower tones. Things came to strong talking following the ‘Bold decision taken by the City mothers and fathers at that special full council meeting held on May 21 this year, when they resolved to institutes forensic audit for the city’s central administration department. It is said the this department is the nucleus of the deep rot.

Kwekwe Council have had interviews for TC in the past, to replace Mr Musara. Mrs Mkandhla, the City’s Chamber Secretary, was also in the race but came a distant fourth. Although she is said to hold a PHD, ‘the later also shrouded in the way it is said to have been defended’ she is reportedly without a ‘first degree’, a crucial requirement for the post of TC. Her elevation to Chamber Secretary through interview some years ago was also controversial as regard qualifications. This latter post is usually for those with legal qualifications.

The results of the interview done in 2019 were not implemented, reportedly because the ministry did not have the Local Government Board in place until recently when the minister appointed the ‘Mr Chakaipa headed LG Board’.

At some stage, the councilors had recommended for appointment of Mrs Mkandhla as substantive TC, citing the length period it was taking without LGB.

However, the insiders alleges that the long period of acting have unfortunately exposed the weaknesses of the ATC regarding managerial competence, as well as the alleged serious corruption activities within the council administration and management.

Areas reported of the corruption activities includes, but not limited to:

Commercial and Residential land allocations, fronting friends and relatives; companies own indirectly fronted through relatives and friends; and business and professional acquaintances.

The lack of procedural land allocations, also includes favouring influential individuals, politicians, professionals, individuals, local scribers etc, Allegedly for purposes of ‘silencing and or protection’ in the event that ‘things come to head’.

Issues of grading system: educational allowances: etc are said to be another route of abusing council coffers.

It is reported that following the May 2021 Councilors resolution for forensic audit, the civic centre corridors became ‘awash’ with fearful anxiety amongst the bureaucracy. Kwekwe council had never been subjected to such audit ‘time memorially’. To subject it to this exercise will mean opening serious shocking skeletons!

Because of that, it is alleged that the ATC and management are running around trying all sorts of strategies to circumvent the consequences: such as trying to politicise this noble move by the councilors: trying to mislead the ministry of LG and the Office of President and Cabinet of the intention by the councilors, and faking allegations of victimization of ATC by opposition councilors. The ATC ran around misleading the local ZANU PF individual office holders, and a local party faction hoping for protection. To the extent of sending emissaries to the ministry, and minister of LG trying yo give wrong assumption as to why the forensic audit will be undertaken. These management guys are in total panic, and confusion. Kuvhunduka chati pwatara hunge uine chawaka turika, so said the Shonas!

Other insiders alleges that the ATC and management were even contemplating buying the auditors when they come for the forensic audit. However, the minister is said to plan to send government auditors for this exercise. Yet those in council think that the latter may work in the corner of the ATC and team. For in the past, in 2020 to early 2021 to be precise, the Minister instituted and send a team around the country to carryout state urban land Audit under all urban councils. When this team came to Kwekwe, it (the team) was harassed by ATC and subjected to meetings with officers from the local OPC, some form of proactive indirect tactical intimidation. The outcome of this audit could have been influenced, and was never known to council and councilors. Only to be reported verbally by management that all was well. Hence the wary that similar tactics could be in the offing for the auditors that the minister would assign for the forensic audit.

Lately, council management is suspected to have tried to divide the councilors by through use of money, give favours, and management aligning with party factions, all in a bid for political protection over issues of alleged serious corruption.

However, the news of this forensic audit resolution seems to have been received by the ‘stakeholders: ratepayers; local business; the community, with great interest, and hope for sanity against corruption and for better council management.

They say that the rot has become a cancer and of high concern. This coupled with the ‘Mafia/farm bossboy type of management’ by the ATC was destroying the municipal viability.

People hope that the attempt to politicise the issue to try sympathy luck would not succeed given the ‘stance of the new dispensation and President ED Mnangagwa stance against corruption. Also that this exercise should help to either clean, or clear the city of graft practice, as this dent the President, and Minister of LG and Devolution, who are both from Kwekwe. People hope that the President would stand by his pronounced vision not to spare the rod on anyone involved, regardless of their positions.

Meanwhile, people of Kwekwe were shocked when in mid June this year, the Ward 6 Councillor, McLean Nyamucherera (ZANU PF), who is said to be aligned to the Dhala faction in the race for MP for the ruling party, went around town organising and collected ‘thousands of US$’ from people allegedly for allocations of ‘flea markets stalls’. In doing so, the councilor was helped by a daughter of the incumbent Deputy Mayor among other persons, a sister to the aspiring opposition MP candidate. It is alleged that more than 300 people were made to pay about US$20 each, and the councilor went on to pay only about US$3000 to council and was issued with a receipt. Later on however, this episodic brought scenes at the council meeting when the ATC presented the receipt with intention to have the move endorsed by councilors. The councilors were ‘hot with the issue’, citing that it was not only an abuse of office by the involved councilor, but a serious criminal act. They further questioned as to why the council management would want to cordon such an act, that is unless if the management was behind such a move. Otherwise how do you have a policymaker doing such a thing and management accept the money. Some members of community suspected that this unprecedented move could be linked to management attempting to ‘pacify some party factions through councilors’ hoping for sympathetic against alleged serious graft in council. Otherwise where in the Urban Councils Act is such a role defined! It boggles any sane mind!

It is therefore left to be seen whether the authorities would enable transparency and justice taking course for the good credibility of the New Dispensation and for the city and its ratepayers.

What You Need To Know About Seizures…

MIGRAINE
What You Need to Know About Migraine and Seizures
Sometimes migraine and seizure occur in the same person, but sometimes it’s just difficult to tell which a person is experiencing.

When migraine symptoms don’t respond to migraine therapies, it may worth considering whether the person is really having seizures.Adobe Stock
Migraine attacks and seizures are both events related to the brain, but exactly how the two are related to each other is something that experts are still trying to unravel.

“There times when a patient experiences an event, and it’s not immediately apparent if they’ve had a seizure or a migraine,” says Lauren Doyle Strauss, DO, a headache specialist and an assistant professor at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

“That’s because there can be an overlap in some of the ways that people describe both of those problems,” Dr. Strauss explains.

There is evidence that the two disorders are associated with each other: The prevalence of migraine in children with epilepsy — which causes seizures — is estimated at 8 to 24 percent, which is approximately double the risk found in the general population, according to a paper published in the Journal of Headache and Pain.

What Is Migralepsy?
Migralepsy is an older term that has been used to describe when a person has both migraine and epilepsy, says Strauss. The term was first used in a paper published in 1960 to describe a condition in which “ophthalmic migraine with perhaps nausea and vomiting was followed by symptoms characteristic of epilepsy,” according to a paper published in the Journal of Headache Pain.

This type of seizure, which is triggered by a migraine attack with aura, is considered a rare but real complication of migraine, according to the International Headache Society (ICHD-3).

A Seizure Can Be Part of Epilepsy or Migraine
To better understand the connection between migraine and seizures, it’s helpful to understand what a seizure is, says Strauss. “You could describe it as a sudden surge of electrical activity in the brain,” she says.

Johns Hopkins Medicine defines a seizure as “a burst of uncontrolled electrical activity between brain cells (also called neurons or nerve cells) that causes temporary abnormalities in muscle tone or movements (stiffness, twitching, or limpness), behaviors, sensations, or states of awareness.”

People are diagnosed with epilepsy after they have had two or more unprovoked seizures, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Seizures Are Different Depending on Where They Occur in the Brain
There are two categories of seizures: generalized seizures, which affect both sides of the brain, and focal seizures (also called partial seizures), which take place is just one part of the brain, according to the CDC.

Depending on which part of the brain is affected, that’s the area that will manifest symptoms, explains Strauss.

“For example, if the area of the brain that controls your language is affected, then that makes sense that your language may not be normal during the seizure. It could cause you to stutter or have trouble with your words,” she says. Similarly, if someone had a seizure in the area of the brain that controls your vision, that may correlate with visual symptoms, says Strauss.

Just because the seizure begins in one part of the brain doesn’t mean it stays there. “A seizure can start in one area of the brain and can quickly spread to other areas or across the entire brain,” she says.

People can experience a seizure in a lot of different ways, says Strauss. “You can have a change in your awareness; others may notice that you’re staring. You may have amnesia, where you forget or are unaware there’s been a change in your surroundings, or you don’t even know that a seizure happened,” she says.

“Your whole body can shake — that’s called a grand mal seizure, and it’s often what people think about when they when they think of seizure. You can also have shaking in one arm or just one leg,” says Strauss.

Can a Migraine Attack Cause Someone to Have a Seizure?

“We don’t fully understand what provokes a migraine and what provokes a seizure; it could be possible that something provokes both,” says Strauss.

Headaches can occur on their own and be unrelated to seizures, or a headache can be a symptom that happens before, during, or after a seizure, says Strauss. “We use the terms ‘preictal,’ which is before the seizure, ‘ictal,’ which is during the seizure, and ‘postictal,’ which is after the seizure,” she says.

Preictal and ictal headaches are relatively rare and usually don’t last long, according to the Epilepsy Foundation. Headaches that occur after a seizure are more common. A survey of 372 patients attending an epilepsy clinic found that 45 percent of them had experienced a postictal headache, and more than 1 in 5 always had one.

Is It a Migraine Attack or a Seizure?
“If a person is having migraine symptoms that aren’t responding to migraine therapies, and they have neurologic symptoms associated with the headaches, it’s reasonable to take a step back and say, ‘Are we sure these are migraines?’” says Strauss.

If you have a grand mal seizure, it’s usually clear that it’s a seizure, she says. “However, with focal seizures or partial seizures or complex partial seizures, these more subtle seizures where it’s only affecting one part of the brain, it can be difficult to always know…

Young People Have An Obligation To Fight For Their Future

“No-one else is going to vote in the interest of young people except young people”, Mdc Alliance Namibia Youth Assembly Commander submits.

27 June 2021.

As the Mdc Alliance Namibia Rundu Branch Youth Commander, Misheck Bunga, I submit that young voters notoriously neglect the importance of voting, but their voice is an important one on both sides of the entranceway to constitutional democracy. The desperate youths in Zimbabwe and the diaspora should know that key national issues in every election increasingly relate to the concerns of students and professionals between the ages of 18 and 35, making it essential for members within that age group to educate themselves on political issues and take to the polls. The youths constitute nearly 50% of the entire voter population that is why it is important to vote , especially if you fall within a crucial age group.

I would like to share some of the reasons why it is fundamental for the youths to cast their vote. My first submission, is that the youth vote has the potential to be extremely influential in Zimbabwe. It is very crucial for the youths to get direct influence on the issues that might affect their livelihoods for years to come, including college and university fees, which are hiked everyday by the insensitive Zanupf regime and the sickening high levels of unemployment. The other important reason is that while youths make up a large population, they are much less likely than those who are older to get out and vote. In recent successive general elections , majority of young voters didn’t cast their votes , a sorry situation that we are committed to change under the able-leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa.

Moreover, many young people cite feeling as though their vote does not count as their reason for not participating in elections. Youths should know that every vote counts , especially those from the largest voting group with the appetite and energy to defend the vote when rigged. I see the young generation with such potential of effecting political change but they don’t exercise the right to vote as they often should. I suggest that the voting age should be lowered in an effort to promote earlier voting among teenagers and young adults. Building a relationship with the political process as early as possible is key to making voting a lifelong habit. I want to encourage the youths to be a historically repeat voter so that they become less likely to skip a trip to the polls in the future.

Furthermore, young people are hit hard by the economic decay. College arrears and lack of employment which is now at more than 95% are the most painful blows to the financial future of many young voters. It has been discovered that the situation won’t be changed by sitting idle while others make major political decisions. The dilapidated health system is more detrimental or dangerous to the young voting generation. Young people who are scattered in the diaspora seeking better social services should inspire to achieve socio-economic transformation by reflecting support for candidates whom they feel best represent their needs. I add that no one is going to vote in the interest of young people except young people.

Moreso, the divisive nature of partisan politics at play in the country and well among young voters must be resisted with equal measure. This was evidenced by the illegal re-establishment of the Zanupf terror group named National Youth Service(Border Gezi) which helped the regime to kill and intimidate human rights defenders ,journalists and opposition activists since year 2002. Today the 27 June is a rude reminder to the high levels torture and state-sponsored deaths of Mdc leaders like Joshua Bakacheza, Tonderai Ndira ,.Talent Mabika and many more thousands. May the dear souls of the butchered social democrats rest in power. The young voters are expected to be the first age group with the ability to challenge the incompetent and corrupt Zanupf cabal. I urge the youths to replace looters and thugs with an alternative progressive political party which represents a diverse population through more inclusive agenda hence the need to embrace #CitizensConvergenceForChange.

Zimbabwean youths should also consider that they may not care now, but they might in five or more years. They may feel that choosing a president or councillor is not something that affects their life right now. They might not yet be struggling with issues like college debt or finding a full-time job. What the young generation must know is that adulthood brings many new challenges like college , marriage ,buying a house , paying their own health insurance , starting a business, all of which could radically change their perspective on political issues. We recently saw the clueless regime demolishing people’s houses and their marketing stalls without giving them any alternative. The unemployed youths are victims to this artificial mess created by Zanupf dictators.

To conclude, here are the helpful tips to win Zimbabwe for complete change:1) Check to see if you are registered to vote in 2023.2)Register to vote/confirm or change registration regardless of your geographical location.3) Avoid voter apathy and ensure early voting.

ZCTU STATEMENT ON CONTINUED DEMOLITION OF VENDING STRUCTURES

The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) is greatly disturbed by the continuing demolition and destruction of informal businesses which has affected a huge number of desperate Zimbabweans.

The demolition of the so called illegal structures continues unabated without any slight consideration of the consequences on the affected people, especially women and children.

By its mismanagement of the economy in pursuit of political ends, the Government has created mass unemployment. As formal sector unemployment has risen, more and more people had to move into the informal trading sector to earn some sort of livelihood.

The current destruction of the informal sector is reminiscent of the “Operation Restore order” of 2005/6 that left over 700 000 people stranded. Previously the Government encouraged the growth of the informal sector and allowed informal traders and vendors to carry out their activities.

The authorities largely turned a blind eye to vendors and traders operating in violation of by-laws. The destruction of structures that house thousands of vendors is being done without providing any alternative.

While covid-19 has caused great suffering among Zimbabweans, the government of Zimbabwe is rubbing salt on the wounds through destruction of their only means of survival. Why they do this in the midst of Covid-9 and winter is a mystery. It borders on sadistic mannerism.

The wrecking of the informal economy sector will have serious detrimental economic effects at a time the economy is already in a parlous state. Apart from drastically increasing unemployment, the campaign will have a detrimental knock-on effect upon the formal economy.

The City Councils, various Government Ministers, and Government officials have advanced a whole miscellany of reasons for this operation. In general, the official explanations have been confusing, and occasionally at variance with each other. The timing and magnitude of the ‘clean-up’ operation has led to much speculation as to whether there are in actuality other reasons than those officially proclaimed.

For instance, some have argued that the campaign is to punish urban people for voting for the opposition. Others say that it is a pre-emptive strike against the urban poor to prevent unrest in the towns by driving people away into the countryside. There are problems with each of these speculations The destructions violate a whole range of international human rights norms as well as fundamental rights provisions in the Constitution of Zimbabwe. That is the reason the ZCTU has always been calling for an all stakeholders approach in the formulation and implementation of policies.

Whatever the reasons for it, the cleanup exercise constitute a widespread and systematic attack on a poor and defenseless civilian population. It has laid to ruins businesses of thousands of people.

Not without justification, have people likened the devastation wreaked by the government to that of a tsunami.

However, unlike a tsunami, the targets have been selective and it is this selectivity which has led to the speculation that the true motives behind it are political.

The continuous heinous act of destroying people’s livelihoods should be condemned by all right minded citizens. Actually it is the government policies and corruption that have bred disorder and pushed people to this informality.

After the carnage we would obviously see the government turning a messiah’ pretending to be a caring government offering the same victims with shelter.

As labour we stand firm in solidarity with the displaced informal economy traders.

The future of Africa should be based on visionary leadership, according to President Chamisa.

“Today I signed the Dr KK condolence book at the Zambian Embassy in Harare.

Liberation without transformation, development and democracy is hollow, unstable and unsustainable.

The future of Africa is to be built upon visionary leadership, partnership, entrepreneurship democracy and strong institutions.RIP African Giant,” President Chamisa wrote on his official Facebook page.

Madzokere Distances Self From “Captured” Mwonzora Party

Tinashe Sambiri|Cornered MDC- T leader Mr Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora is a dejected man after being embarrassed by Tungamirai Madzokere.

Mwonzora attempted to steal credit for Madzokere and Last Maengahama’s release from prison.

Madzokere has also pointed out that the visit by members of Mwonzora’s party has been used for nefarious reasons.

Madzokere argued:

“MDCT Leadership, led by Yvonne Musarurwa came to my house and told me that my release from prison was necessitated by Douglas Mwonzora as part of his negotiation with ZanuPF for supporting Const Amendment Bill number 2…

This exposes injustices in Zim as courts are influenced by the Executive & the Legislature, which shouldnt be the case. The Constitution we wrote clearly separates the Judiciary, Parliament, Executive and Cabinet. We shouldn’t be having one influencing judgements.

I cannot be happy for being released due to political intervention. I want to be released because I committed no crime. The scholarly judgement shows the intervention of God with Judges being Spokespersons of the heavenly intervention, because of my innocence.”

He added: “I wasn’t happy seeing my MDCT colleagues on social media insinuating that I’m joining them. That’s not what we agreed. I accepted them at my home because they are fellow friends. Yvonne Musarurwa was my co-accused & a friend for a long time…

“I have friends in MDCT but there’s a difference between being a friend and a political ally. As human being, we are political & social animals. I cannot cut social ties because of differing political opinions . I won’t chase away visitors..

“I cannot fail to socially get along with MDCT people when I get along with some ZANU PF members because we differ politically. Let it be clear that I believe in the Leadership of President Nelson Chamisa…

Even ZanuPF knows that the only person who can deliver Zimbabweans from the bondage caused by Zanu is the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa. Even President Mugabe during GNU called Chamisa a supersonic Minister.

After the new government led by Pres Nelson Chamisa comes into office soon, Mnangagwa who will be an Opposition Leader will call Pres Chamisa a super-sonic President. I’m done”

“Heartless” Mnangagwa Arrests Netsai Marova As She Mourns Dad

“Netsai Marova has been arrested at RGM airport whilst picking up her brother who had just landed for Dad’s funeral,” the MDC Alliance said in a statement.

MDC Alliance Youth Assembly spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma denounced the relentless persecution of Netsai Marova.

Govt Approves Use Of Ivermectin To Treat COVID-19

Government has approved the use of ivermectin to treat Covid-19 in a move that may go a long way in offsetting the current third wave.

The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) said in a statement, “the secretary for health and child care has authorised the MCAZ to authorise the importation and use of ivermectin for Covid-19.

“MCAZ will issue bulk section 75 approvals for importation of human formulations of ivermectin manufactured by compliant facilities.”

Ivermectin has already been proved to be an effective treatment for Covid if administered early to victims.

However, its use has remained reduced and debatable.

Some sections have accused big pharmaceutical companies of underplaying its potency against Covid in a bid to advance the commercial interests of vaccines.

A significant body of peer-reviewed evidence has  emerged showing that Ivermectin may decrease the case counts and mortality rates when used as a prophylactic agent.

At least 747 000 people in the country have so far taken at least one dose of vaccine.

This has however, not been enough to stop the on-going third wave.

This has resulted in the current lockdown measures in large parts of Mashonaland West.

Last week the country received half a million more vaccines from China as part of the expected 2.5 million Sinopharm doses.

The government has set a target of achieving herd immunity by year-end with a target of at least 60% of the population vaccinated.

Govt Tightens Border Control Systems As COVID-19 Wreaks Havoc

Health control measures have been tightened at ports of entry to minimise chances of a person infected with Covid-19 entering Zimbabwe without being tested or quarantined.

Tourists and business visitors are still barred, but drivers of heavy commercial trucks are allowed in and returning residents have a right to come home, but with precautions so they do not spread Covid-19.

The Government has put in teams at entry points to screen potential border crossings.

District medical officer for Victoria Falls Dr Fungayi Mvura gave some details.

“Like you have seen, we have teams at the border which check the validity of the required negative certificates,” she said.

“Those without the certificates will be screened at their own expense, but for those without money to pay for a test our rapid response team will test them at the team’s convenience; they visit the border periodically.

“The teams are a bit thorough, we want to avoid a situation where Covid-19 positive cases get into the country unknowingly and start infecting others.”

Zimbabwe has won international plaudits for the way it has handled the Covid-19 pandemic with a quick and effective response.

“Vaccines have minimised a spike in infections especially here in Victoria Falls, but in Hwange cases are on the rise,” said Dr Mvura.

“We urge people to get vaccinated, but whether you are vaccinated or not you have to continue adhering to the prescribed control measures.”

Mr Owen Mukombero the Victoria Falls, regional immigration officer, north western region, gave details of the minimised traffic at the port.

“The monthly averages at Victoria Falls border, pre-Covid-19 for low season up to April entry, was 20 000 people, 19 000 for exit the usual total transiting public during that period is 39 000,” he said.

Man Jumps From Moving Plane At Airport

By A Correspondent- A man has jumped from a moving plane at Los Angeles International Airport after attempting to access the jet’s cockpit.

The man, who was not identified, opened the plane’s door and fled via the emergency slide on Friday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said.

He was detained on the taxiway and taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

There has been a rise in incidents on flights in the US. About 3,000 incidents have been recorded this year.

Friday’s incident occurred at 19.10 local time (02:10 GMT Saturday) aboard a United Express flight, operated by SkyWest Airlines, to Salt Lake City.

Flight crew reported seeing the passenger getting up from his seat as the plane taxied towards the runway. They said he had pounded on the cockpit door before exiting the plane through the emergency door, NBC News reports.

The plane, an Embraer 175 regional jet, later returned to its gate.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and the passenger’s motives.

Earlier this month the FAA said it had investigated the highest number of potential breaches of the law since records began in 1995. Many of those are in relation to incidents where people have refused to wear a mask.

The agency said some 394 cases of passengers allegedly “interfering with the duties of a crew member” had been reported as of 25 May.

This is twice as many as the whole of last year, when 183 cases were investigated.

Temba Mliswa Sucked In Police Boss Matanga Ouster Bid

By Dr Masimba Mavaza| Once again social media was abuzz with Twitter messages spread by Temba Mliswa attacking the Police Commissioner-General Godwin Tandabantu Matanga. Temba is a big mouth and an attention seeker who has been captured by senior police officers at the very highest level. Mliswa has therefore boasted that he will bring evidence on how Matanga is corrupt. He is relying on Mr Guvamatanga the permanent Secretary in the ministry of finance who was giving Mutamba information about Drax which Temba is now accusing Godwin Matanga of corruption involving and is the one who was giving hopewell ma documents which Hopewell has been publishing masquerading as an investigative journalist.

The Twitts seem very basic only attacking Godwin Matanga. But looking at the Twits at large Temba is being used by a Deputy Commissioner General and some Senior assistant commissioners who are after Matanga’s position.

What Temba is doing is a well calculated personal attack on Matanga with a specific aim of tarnishing Matanga’s character and hoping that Matanga will be relieved of his position.

Matanga has kept silent while Temba jumps up and down like a headless chicken.

Matanga is a man of strong character he knows when a pig jumps in the puddle do not follow it there. The pig will enjoy the mud and it it’s dirty and plays dirty, such is Temba Mliswa.

Matanga is blessed with a strong character. Character” is a collective term for the qualities that you have, or don’t have, that set you apart from other people. When we talk about someone “having character” in a positive way, these qualities could include traits such as courage, honesty, loyalty, and integrity. Our character helps us to decide between what we think is right and what we think is wrong. Matanga has left Temba alone despite the way Temba is dragging Matanga’s name in the mud.

But Temba is not doing this alone. Temba is doing by a team in the Police hierarchy who are eying Matanga’s position. Some of them were the darlings in the first dispensation and can surely be called the old outfits in the Police force.

Matanga is being piloted against by those who wish to take over and these are going after Matanga and even the first family. Temba pretends to be fighting for the president yet Temba is the most divisive person out side ZANU PF. He has appointed himself as a chief whip for ZANU PF and by so doing Temba continues to be used by those who have scores to settle against some people in government. Temba has had a go at minister Ziyambi, Temba has tried it again with Tagwirei and for a long time he is after Matanga. The truth behind all this is that there is a team of officers who are friends of Temba and they are all out to get Matanga. At the same time Matanga is busy doing his job oblivious of the fact that there are Judas in his team. Matanga believes his team is doing the right thing, so she continues to defend their actions and refuses to back down, despite harsh criticism and tremendous pressure. Temba Mliswa is on the case involving two million dollars which he claims confidently that was stopped in Budapest Hungary. He further claims that it was payment for PPEs which were valued at no more than 200k. This Mliswa lies with a straight face. Two Million dollars was for performance guarantee of the contract. This had nothing to do with PPEs. Temba has lied to the people because the two million dollars has nothing to do with COVID 19. Two million refers to a different contract ehe Drax has executed the specific Performance by delivering the goods. Without any Evidence Temba avers that the amount of 2 Million was sent from treasury to pay for goods worthy 200K. This case is no longer before the courts but no payment has been done. Temba also reveals that Ass Comm ObeyLaw Moyo the Director of CID issued a letter stopping the transfer of the funds into the Drax nominated account. So ASCOM Moyo just made a decision to stop payment without evidence and teaming up with some senior officers Moyo stopped payment and this action is to be causing great problems for the whole nation. For far too long Temba Mliswa has masqueraded as a voice against corruption yet the opposite is true. Temba Mliswa has raised this issue to taint Matanga and to protect his friends. Temba should be challenged to show how Matanga has been captured by corrupt elements. To the contrary In 2020 Temba was in the forefront of defending senior police officers who were charged of corruption. So who is captured and who is neck high in corruption. Temba tried unsuccessfully to persuade the VP Chiwenga to have commissioner Douglas Jabulani nyakutsikwa released after he was arrested for conniving with City of Harare office to acquire land for a friend and relatives unprocedurally. Temba again was in the forefront requesting the release of Director of CID Chrispen Charumbira to be released after he was detained for corruption.

Temba again dragged the name of the president in the mud when he alleged the corrupt officers were aligned to the president which was not true. Last week Temba was parading with Rushwaya who herself has smuggling cases pending. Temba who is a strong Allie of Obeylaw Moyo who is on suspension for corruption is always seen mingling with officers and people with questionable behaviour. Director for CID Magande ,Ass comm Charumbira and other senior officers are using Temba to smear and embarrass Matanga. He is shielding those under corruption charges and he attacks Matanga in order to have him removed from the position and be placed by Matanga.

But who is Godwin Matanga l? Godwin Tandabantu Matanga is a senior Zimbabwean law enforcement officer. Matanga is the current Commissioner-General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police. He was named acting Commissioner-General after long-serving ZRP Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri retired in December 2017. On 12 February 2018 the Public Service Commission announced Matanga’s appointment as the substantive Commissioner General. Since that time Matanga has been attacked left right and centre by his own team. His own deputy and his officers a scheming for his removal. This explains why in the case of Drax Temba only attacks Matanga in his Twitter.

Temba Mliswa came up with a thread which he alleges was exposing the corruption of Commissioner General Matanga. He points out the issue of Drax the issue which was blown out of proportion by Hopeless Ching’ono.

For us to understand this case let’s look at who is the target in this case. The target in this case is the President of Zimbabwe and his family. Temba fights the president in a very subtle way he took the advantage that his outbursts are taken as madness yet he is delivering blows below the belt. The whole case shows some treasonous actions by some officers in the police. These are the police officers who targeted the first family through Drax. They then attacked Zimbabwe.

After the Zimbabwe government paid two million dollars for the goods which was already supplied to Natpharm, the Zimbabwean Police through Ass Commissioner Ndou working together with Deputy Commissioner General Mutamba and ASCOM Charumbira instructed Assistant Commissioner Obeylaw Moyo who was a Deputy Director CID Commercial Crimes Unit to generate a letter stoping the funds to be transferred into Drax nominated account. This was done without consulting protocol. The police officers who are very senior with ASCOM Ndou telling another government that Zimbabwean government is practicing money laundering. This shows the irresponsibility of the senior officers. Having said this they are now turning against Matanga and they have assured Mliswa that he will be given evidence against Matanga. This is because they are targeting Matanga’s position. Temba is playing as the power in the mirror. With information provided by Mutamba to Temba Mliswa and to Hopeless Chin’ono the case was wrongly placed at the door steps of the president.

The Drax issue angers Temba because Temba wanted his own company he was backing and his team of officers to benefit. When he realised that the contract was awarded to Drax Temba teamed up with Chin’ono and pretended to be giving out information which would look credible.

This shook the government and led to the dismissal of the minister of health and several arrests of Natpharm officers.

After attacking Obadiah Moyo Temba and Chin’ono then changed their narrative and attacked the first family.

The narrative was now “ED must Go” Temba still had a free play in the police dealings. He then set a team against Matanga obviously being encouraged by the officers mentioned above. The reality of the matter is that Mliswa has mentioned Matanga in this case yet Matanga has no direct or indirect involvement in this case.

It is unheard of for the police force to label the whole country money launderers. Then implicate the first family in a case which has been dressed as corruption issue. Let’s not be blind Matanga is being attacked for defending the president.

Temba Mliswa is a sworn enemy of Zimbabwe he now has the support of the officers who in themselves are after the position Matanga holds. Matanga is facing clear sabotage by his officers who are eyeing his position. What is happening to Matanga is a Character assassination which is perpetrated by Temba and the officers who are not happy with Matanga. Because these officers are not happy with Matanga they do not care even if their actions affect the good name of the nation and the name of the first Family. Delish Nguwaya and Obadiah Moyo are the victims of the war wedged against Matanga by his deputies. We must remember that character assassination is a deliberate and sustained effort to damage the reputation or credibility of an individual. The term could also be selectively applied to social groups and institutions. Agents of character assassinations employ a mix of open and covert methods to achieve their goals, such as raising false accusations, planting and fostering rumors, and manipulating information.

Character assassination happens through character attacks. These can take many forms, such as spoken insults, speeches, pamphlets, campaign ads, cartoons, and internet memes. For some historical figures, that damage caused by character assassination endures for centuries.

Character Assassination may involve exaggeration, misleading half-truths, or manipulation of facts to present an untrue picture of the targeted person. It is a form of defamation and can be a form of ad hominem argument.

The behaviour of Temba Mliswa is meant to tarnish the image of the first family together with the country.

Firstly it is treasonous of the police to say the nation has sent funds in a laundering way. This tarnishes the image of the country. It is a fact that Drax had supplied PPEs. The question of overcharging was raised by Temba Mliswa through Chin’ono and Mutamba Charumbira and Ndou. Obey Law Moyo did not obey the law but took sides of those who were corrupt themselves.

There has never been a dispute that the products were not delivered. Some PPEs are held at the airport in Zimbabwe.

The effects of the behaviour of the police officers and their puppet Temba has costed Zimbabwe heavily. At the moment Zimbabwe has lost investors. No one wants to deal with a country which use your products then change the price and finally refuse to pay. The country which arrests the foreign representatives over a civil case is a danger to trade. This is the label Zimbabwe has because of the actions of Temba and his team of officers.

One should ask that if this matter was genuine why was it not handled by SACU or ZAAC. Temba as we were told by his girlfriend has been planning to kill the President’s son. One of the twins. This could have been just a rumour but with Temba you can not ignore this. He then has gone on to include Matanga in this case yet there is nowhere Matanga has been involved in this case. Instead Mutamba and Charumbira in cahoots with Obeylaw Moyo and Ndou have played Temba in their war to dethrone Matanga. While they do this they do not care what they do to the first family.

Reading Mliswa’s Twitts will show that Temba is a lunatic on Twitter. He is simply attacking Matanga so that Mutamba gets a chance to succeed. So the reality of the matter is that Matanga is being dragged in the mud by those who want his position at all costs. The actions of the four officers is dividing the police leadership. Daggers are out against Matanga but we all know that Matanga is only being used as a step towards The president. In short there is a thick plot against president Mnangagwa.

It is the character of the president which is being torn apart by Temba Mliswa. In talking about Matanga One cannot but feel that a very grave responsibility rests upon us as a nation to defend our police force. So far as Matanga is concerned, in any act he has done, in any letter he has written, or in the matter of the card which has put him in the present position, he withdraws nothing. He has done all those things with a premeditation and a deter-mination, at all risks, and at all hazards to try to serve his nation his president and the interfaith of the Police. Whether Matanga was right or whether he was wrong, you have probably to some extent information on which you can found a judgment. Matanga’s conduct in this respect has been absolutely consistent all through, and if Temba has evidence he must produce it not just attacking Matanga through the Twitter.

Temba has alleged nothing but only malice. Therefore there were no circumstances rendering Mr Matanga liable to the accusations which Temba has been putting across to the public. Temba’s present Twitter was done from malice arising out of greed and corruption on the party of The Law protects free speech, but when an untrue statement causes real harm, defamation laws and constitutional protections can collide.

Defamation laws protect people whose careers, reputations, finances and/or health have been damaged by untrue, harmful statements. However, defamation law often intersects with laws protecting the freedom of speech guaranteed by the constitution of Zimbabwe.

So, just as it’s important to protect people from the harms that untrue statements may cause, it’s necessary to protect the right to speak freely and without fear of reprisal.

If the defendant can prove the statement he or she made was true, the defamation case ends there. People cannot be punished for speaking the truth, no matter how ugly or embarrassing it may be. Truth is always a defense to a claim of defamation. But Temba Mliswa is a virgin to the Truth. He is motivated by greed and this anger in him is so destructive.

Temba is a lose cannon and he must be controlled. His hatred against Matanga is destroying the nation. By continuing his fight against Matanga Temba is putting the name of our police force in disrepute. Once you attack the head you have attacked the whole body. So the whole police force is being attacked by Temba Milisa.

This scandalous behaviour by Temba must be dealt with. Zimbabwe is losing investors because of people who always Twit negatives against Zimbabwe. Operating a police or security service within a liberal democracy does of course pose problems and occasionally dilemmas. But Temba is a cancer which must be put in its right place. Temba must leave Matanga Alone.

Byo Man Nabbed After Being Found In Possession Of US$2,7k Fake Notes

POLICE in Gweru have arrested a 23 year- old Bulawayo man who was found in possession of US$2 710 in fake notes after he tried to buy medicine from a pharmacy.

The incident occurred on Saturday at about 6pm at Sante-Plus Pharmacy at Chirandu Shopping Centre in Senga, Gweru.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident and urged members of the public to scrutinise the United States dollar bills they get from clients in case they are handed counterfeit notes.

“Circumstances are that on June 26, the accused Tinashe Kanengoni of Nketa 7, Bulawayo disembarked from a Toyota Mark X motor vehicle at the Business centre and bought Solphyllex Syrup from Sante-Plus pharmacy. He used a US$100 note and was given US$90 change,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said Kanengoni allegedly rushed back to the vehicle which had two other occupants.

Insp Mahoko said the till operator Mr Kumbirai Brian Chereti immediately realised that the note was fake before running after Kanengoni.

“The till operator realised that the vehicle was about to take off before he jumped onto the bonnet of the motor vehicle. Upon taking off, the driver realising that Mr Kumbirai Brian Chereti was clinging on to the bonnet swerved to the left and right in an effort to throw him off the bonnet. In the process the driver lost control of the vehicle which fell into a ditch,” he said.

Two occupants including the driver, Insp Mahoko said, disembarked the motor vehicle and fled.

“One suspect, Tinashe Kanengoni was apprehended by members of the public who reported the matter to ZRP Senga Police. Police attended the scene and upon searching the vehicle, four different vehicle number plates, $2 710 fake US dollars comprising of 25xUS$100, 3xUS$50, $2xUS$20 and 2xUS$10 were recovered,” he said.

Insp Mahoko said investigations are in progress.

“The other two suspects are at large while Kanengoni is in police custody. He will be taken to court soon to answer charges of fraud,” he said.

Insp Mahoko appealed to members of the public who might have information on the whereabouts of the other suspects to inform any nearest police station.

“Also, members of the public who have fallen victim to criminals using counterfeit money are invited to approach Senga Police and assist in this investigation. We would also like to urge business people to closely check the bills they are given before processing transactions,” he said.

Major Boost For Nkomo Son’s ZAPU Presidency Bid

Sibangilizwe Nkomo, the son of the late vice president Joshua Nkomo, is buoyed by his victory in a Zapu Matabeleland South provincial election to fill the vacant post of party president, saying this is proof that he is the ‘people’s choice.’

Nkomo emerged victorious in the provincial conference held on Saturday after bagging 68 votes against fellow presidential contestants Strike Mnkandla, the current secretary general who received 17 votes, Matabeleland South chairperson Matthew Sibanda (24 votes) and United Kingdom-based Sithembiso Mpofu (12 votes).

Zapu is holding provincial conferences to elect their preferred candidates and provincial executives ahead of its elective congress scheduled for August this year.

However, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who doubles up as Health and Child Care minister, re-imposed lockdown restrictions last week following a spike in Covid-19 cases, forcing the opposition party to postpone the provincial conferences.

Nkomo, who invited brickbats from rivals after announcing his candidature for presidency, said his victory as a preferred presidential candidate in Matabeleland had boosted his confidence that he will grab the presidency in August.

“It is not only a personal victory, but a win for the people who love Zapu and have Zapu’s interests at heart,” Nkomo said.

“This victory shows that the people know and understand the direction that Zapu should take. They understand and have confidence in me that Zapu will be in safe hands under me, and that I will revive it.

“However, it does not mean that those that lost are our enemies, but colleagues that also have the interest of Zapu at heart.

“This victory has also boosted my confidence that I will be crowned Zapu president at the end of the day.”

Nkomo in March resigned from both the Joshua Nkomo Cultural Movement and the Joshua Nkomo Legacy Restoration Project Trust where he was chairperson of the two organisations after he entered the race for the presidency.

However, rivals have accused him of being an inheritance hunter as they dismiss him of wanting to turn the party into a family and clan dynasty.

“We can’t then have inheritance hunters coming up in March 2021 to claim so and so told them to rescue the party after 40 years. We are not a family or clan dynasty,” Iphithule Maphosa, the party spokesperson who is also eyeing the presidency said recently.

The late Nkomo was the leader of PF Zapu. In 1987, Nkomo’s PF Zapu signed a Unity Accord with Zanu to ostensibly bring an end to Gukurahundi.

In 2008, the late Dumiso Dabengwa led a number of ex PF Zapu officials in a breaking away from Zanu PF to relaunch their party.

Dabengwa led the re-birthed Zapu till he passed away in May 2019.

Elongated Labia Minora- A Guarantee Of Marital Bliss And Stability?

wedding ring

By Own Correspondent- Recently married *Natasha Zigomo* is at a crossroads.

Her dreams of marital bliss and happily ever after came crushing down on her honeymoon.

With tears falling down her cheeks, she opened up on her ordeal.

“I have always known my fiancée as a very traditional kind of person but I did not know that the issue of elongated labia minora was important to him. He said he was disappointed that I did not have elongated labia minora. It was the first time that I heard about it.”

Growing up in a family where issues to do with sex was taboo and was never discussed, Zigomo said her husband had told her that she was supposed to go back home and “prepare” her body for marriage.

“He told me that he was giving me a second chance to make things right.”

She was not however sure if she would go through the process.

“I am yet to understand why I must disfigure my body just to please him. The process is very painful. Maybe I just have to let go the marriage and find someone who understands and appreciates me the way I am.”

One of the many traditional body modifications and vaginal practices, labia minora elongation is an act involving the manual stretching of the inner folds of the external genitalia, the labia minora, and sometimes the clitoris.

Sometimes done with the aid of certain oils, crèmes and utensils, the stretching is done using fingers and only stopped when the desired length, which usually ranges from 2 to 5 inches, is reached.

However, the length varies and differs depending on personal preferences and sometimes cultural connotations.

Mbuya Beta from Chitungwiza who sells herbs that speed up the elongation process of labia minora said:

“Traditionally, it was recommended that girls start elongating their labia minora before they started menstruating.

However, these days because we have some women who were disadvantaged and were never told about these things when they were still young, we even assist those who are married and are older.”

She showed this reporter several herbs that can be used during the process of elongating one’s labia minora.

“One can use these herbs. You prepare a cigarrete and smoke it while holding the labia minora and then as you puff, they get longer. The challenge with this herb is that if you puff too much, they may grow too long and the process is irreversible.

You can also use petroleum jelly, pfuta tree oil (castor bean tree), roast groundnuts or burnt bat’s wings mixed with oil. A bat’s wings stretches and likewise, when you use it, the labia minora will get longer.”

A married woman with three children from Budiriro whom we shall call Mrs Nhingi after she refused to disclose her identity saying discussing such bedroom issues was taboo according to our culture said she had decided to elongate her labia minora after her husband continuously mocked her during sex.

“Yes its true, it’s all about the man and not about me or what I want or am comfortable with. I did it because I wanted to “please my husband”.

I thought that if I have them, it would stop him from being promiscuous. I wanted to stop him from looking at other women.

I was groomed to prepare my body to fulfil male expectations on the characteristics of their genitalia, arouse him and increase his sex drive. It is never about me.”

Several women interviewed confirmed Mrs Nhingi’s sentiments adding that the motivations to engage in vaginal practices such as elongating one’s labia minora was socially and culturally driven.

“I only did it to serve and augment sexual compatibility with my spouse and to promote marital stability,” said Mai Ryan.

A sex worker who operates at Chigovanyika in St Marys who identified herself as Irene said she used her elongated labia minora to lure clients as most men loved them.

“Flaccid enlarged lips also increase the potential control over intercourse and with the nature of my job, there are clients who want to force themselves on me and rape me, I just fold my labia minora inside my vagina and he will not penetrate.

In some instances, I just use them to pleasure my clients when I fold one of them inside, my vagina becomes smaller and tighter. My clients love this and they keep coming back for more. But they have to pay more for such a service,” she chuckled.

But how safe is this in terms of HIV transmission?

Irene confirmed that most men when they noticed that she had elongated labia minora, they refused protection.

“They want skin to skin because they enjoy it when there is contact with elongated labia minora so most refuse protection. I end up thus sleeping with them without the condoms. Most even offer more money. I know the importance of protection but i am only human.”

According to a joint report from UNICEF, UNFPA and IOM on gender-based violence in Zimbabwe, the authors document that labia minora elongation is a common traditional practice in some areas in Zimbabwe including Mberengwa and Mudzi districts.

In the report, labia minora elongation is included as a harmful traditional practice along with rape, lobola (bridewealth), denial of access to education, forced early marriage, wife inheritance, and prostitution.

While many reasons are mentioned regards why women and girls elongate their labia minora some of which include claims that the practice beautifies the genitals, improves hygiene and personal grooming and that it helps women prepare for sexual intercourse, Sekuru vaDelan from Unit D in Chitungwiza is of the view that there is need to change such harmful cultural practices that disadvantaged women.

“Women must have a choice on what to do with their bodies. It is not fair to make them go through painful eperiences just so that they can please a man who may not even appreciate them even after they have elongated thier labia minora. We need to change our mentality regards some of these practices because some of us do not believe in it

Said a 22 year old university student from Kuwadzana:

“It is tradition yes and much as it may have good intentions, the tragedy is that you will never know if the man that you are going to marry wants them or not. Most of the girls are just doing it to fulfil culture yet some among our generation don’t even place any value in it.”

Labia minora elongation  is a female genital modification practice categorized among the types included in the fourth group of female genital mutilation. However, the World Health Organisation, stops short of explicitly listing labia elongation as Type 4, which “includes all other harmful procedures to the female genitalia for non-medical purposes, e.g. pricking, piercing, incising, scraping and cauterizing the genital area.”

States the UNICEF in its latest Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) report published in February 2020:

“At least 200 million girls and women alive today living in 31 countries have undergone female genital mutilation, which refers to “all procedures involving partial or total removal of the female external genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.”

“It is a violation of girls’ and women’s human rights. While the exact number of girls and women worldwide who have undergone female genital mutilation remains unknown, at least 200 million girls and women have been cut in 31 countries with representative data on prevalence.

However, the majority of girls and women in most countries with available data think female genital mutilation should end and there has been an overall decline in the prevalence of the practice over the last three decades, but not all countries have made progress and the pace of decline has been uneven,” said the UNICEF.

According to The Global Library of Women’s Medicine’s Welfare of Women Global Health Programme report titled “Female genital mutilation – the UK perspective”-, female genital mutilation appears to be a manifestation of gender inequality that is deeply entrenched in some social, economic and political structures.

Said the report:

“Female genital mutilation represents society’s control over women and it is claimed that the procedure improves women’s purity and modesty, and many think that it is aesthetically pleasing to have the procedure.

Where it is widely practiced, it is supported by both men and women usually without question, and anyone departing from the norm may face condemnation and harassment.”

The United Nations (UN) general assembly has declared female genital mutilation a violation of women’s rights.

According to the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, 1990 Article 21: State Parties to the present Charter shall take all appropriate measures to eliminate harmful social and cultural practices affecting the welfare, dignity, normal growth and development of the child.

“State parties shall ensure the protection of the rights of the child to freedom from all forms of violence, harmful practices, including corporal punishment and other cruel or degrading forms of punishment and female genital mutilation.”

The African Child Policy Forum however reports that female genital mutilation is reportedly not practiced in Zimbabwe.

“However, the International Parliamentary Union has no first-hand official information on
this subject,” revealed the Forum.

Popular Taxi Driver Dies On His Birthday

Emmanuel Thunywa

By A Correspondent- A taxi driver died on the spot on his 30th birthday on Friday while his two cousins were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road before overturning.

Emmanuel Thunywa, a popular taxi driver in Victoria Falls, was driving a Toyota Sienta along a gravel road from Chidobe when he lost control of the vehicle.

The accident occurred around 6pm near Chidobe business centre.

Thunywa, who was in the company of his cousins Mr Alison Prince Mlilo (27) and Ms Ivonn Dube (34), was coming from their grandmother’s homestead in Chidobe on the outskirts of Victoria Falls.

On Saturday, a convoy of Victoria Falls taxi drivers literally blocked the Hwange-Victoria Falls highway as they drove to his home in Aerodrome to pay their condolences.

In an interview, Mr Mlilo said his cousin lost control of the vehicle some distance from their grandmothers’ place.

“The car skidded on the gravel road and Emmanuel panicked. He tried to control it but it overturned and rolled once before landing on its roof. We had just been talking about the state of the road moments when moments later the accident occurred. Byo Man In Soup Over US$ Fake Notes

By A Correspondent- Police in Gweru have arrested a 23 year- old Bulawayo man who was found in possession of US$2 710 in fake notes after he tried to buy medicine from a pharmacy.

“Also, members of the public who have fallen victim to criminals using counterfeit money are invited to approach Senga Police and assist in this investigation. We would also like to urge business people to closely check the bills they are given before processing transactions,” he said.

“Goromonzi Demotions Mere Territorial Wars Within Zanu Pf”: Mzembi

demolitions

By A Correspondent- Exiled former Tourism Minister, Dr Walter Mzembi has said the demolitions of hundreds of houses in Melfort, Goromonzi reflect turf or territorial wars in the ruling ZANU PF.

He suggested that the houses were demolished because the group led by Rodgers Pote who fronted Eastwinds properties that was selling and developing the stands in question lost it when former Transport Minister Biggie Matiza succumbed to COVID-19 earlier this year.

Pote is accusing the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities of instructing the demolition of the houses.

The Ministry, however, denies the allegations saying it stayed out of the matter before Pote was ordered by the Goromonzi Magistrate in 2020 to stop allocating the stands and to develop them.

Mzembi said the demolitions were a “turf wars in government at war with itself no MDC hand here! Vasiyeyi (leave them out).”

He added:

_Mururimi rwedu kwava kunakurirana nyoka mhenyu! Nyaya iyi ndeyemuGoromonzi pakafa Biggie Matiza it’s clear kuti Pote wakasara aripamhene! NdezvemuZanu PF izvi, hazvineyi neMDC. Matare akangoona weakness yemaFactions acho ndokubva asevenzeswa sedemo!_

Mzembi speaks after ZANU PF acting political commissar, Patrick Chinamasa had claimed that the “corrupt MDC-led councils are to blame for the demolitions” since they are the ones that allocated the land illegally.

Meanwhile, MDC Alliance activist, Pedzisayi Ruhanya has said the victims of the demolitions “are not fools” as they are very much aware of who destroyed their houses.

“Project Mwonzora 66% Win, We Have The Strategies”: To What End And Purpose Because 2023 Is Done

By Nomusa Garikai- “When we make projections of 66 %, we know what we are talking about,” said MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube.

“We have a strategy to turn around the fortunes of the party from what we were in 2018.

“I may not be at liberty to dissect and go all exactly on how that strategy is going to play out. We are still a distance from the elections, it’s unwise to do so.”

MDC has always gone into every election super confident that the party will win but has always fallen short. The party has always ignored the problem of Zanu PF rigging the elections before the elections only to complain about stolen elections thereafter!

Ever since the disastrous betrayal of the people during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform in five years, MDC leaders have settled for the few gravy train seats Zanu PF gives away as bait to entice the opposition to continue participating in flawed and illegal elections. Mwonzora is projecting to win 66% of the 1/3 or so gravy train seat Zanu PF gives away so he will be the leader of the country’s main opposition.

Of course, he does not care that the elections are rigged to give Zanu PF’s 2/3 majority and the presidency. Worst of all, Mwonzora does not care that the nation will still be stuck with the corrupt and tyrannical regime.

Mwonzora and Chamisa are going to participate in the 2023 election knowing Zanu PF will rig the elections. What they are fighting over is the bragging rights which one of them will be the leader of the opposition.

The people of Zimbabwe have been fighting for democratic change leading to free, fair and credible elections, the prerequisite for good governance. We should not take our eyes off the ball by participating in these meaningless elections just to indulge Zanu PF and the sell-out MDC leaders!

SADC leaders wanted Zimbabwe’s 2013 elections postponed until reforms were implemented because they realised the sheer futility of participating in elections whose outcome is predetermined before the ballots are cast and therefore are not the people’s democratic wish.

“In 2013 the Maputo Summit, in June 2013, before the elections, the Maputo Summit was all about having the elections postponed – the SADC summit. I went there,” Dr Ibbo Mandaza told Journalist Violet Gonda.

“I was there at the Summit and Mugabe pretended to agree to a postponement of the elections. If you recall, the postponement was based on the need to reform at least electoral laws.

“And after that Summit, Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, all of them were called to a separate meeting by the Heads of State of SADC in the absence of Mugabe, that same evening. And they were told; I was sitting there outside the room with Mac Maharaj; they were told ‘if you go into elections next month, you are going to lose; the elections are done’.”

Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends paid no heed to the SADC leaders’ warning. The simple and concise message the ordinary Zimbabweans must send to the SADC leaders is that they totally agree that the 2023 elections must be postponed until the reforms and implemented. And to back their message, Zimbabweans must have nothing to do with the electoral farce Zanu PF and MDC leaders are staging.

The biggest mistake ordinary Zimbabweans have made so far was to allow the country’s political leaders on both sides of the political divide to do as they pleased without ever holding the leaders to democratic account. If the people are serious about end the country’s curse of rigged elections and bad governance then they must seize the initiative and be masters of their own destiny. And what better starting point than demanding democratic reforms and refusing to participate in the Zanu PF and MDC political circus!

Mwonzora Humiliated For Claiming Credits For Tunga, Last Prison Release

Douglas Mwonzora

By Dorrothy Moyo | The renegade MDC T leader Douglas Mwonzora was humiliated after claiming credits for organizing the prison release of prolific activists, Last Maengahama and Tungamirai Madzokere.

Tungamirai Madzokere has complain that the visit by Mwonzora’s leadership has been used for nefarious reasons.

Said Madzokere in full:

“MDCT Leadership, led by Yvonne Musarurwa came to my house and told me that my release from prison was necessitated by Douglas Mwonzora as part of his negotiation with ZanuPF for supporting Const Amendment Bill number 2…

“This exposes injustices in Zim as courts are influenced by the Executive & the Legislature, which shouldnt be the case. The Constitution we wrote clearly separates the Judiciary, Parliament, Executive and Cabinet. We shouldn’t be having one influencing judgements.

“I cannot be happy for being released due to political intervention. I want to be released because I committed no crime. The scholarly judgement shows the intervention of God with Judges being Spokespersons of the heavenly intervention, because of my innocence.

“I wasnt happy seeing my MDCT colleagues on social media insinuating that I’m joining them.

“Even ZanuPF knows that the only person who can deliver Zimbabweans from the bondage caused by Zanu is the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa. Even President Mugabe during GNU called Chamisa a supersonic Minister.

“After the new government led by Pres Nelson Chamisa comes into office soon, Mnangagwa who will be an Opposition Leader will call Pres Chamisa a super-sonic President. I’m done.”

Govt To Up Vaccination In Covid-19 Hotspots

By A Correspondent- Vaccinations are being stepped up in identified Covid-19 hotspots, now that 500 000 more doses arrived on Saturday with another 2 million expected at the end of this week, to help break the chains of infection in the areas.

Zimbabwe has seen rising cases over the past two weeks, most concentrated in a few districts and a number of more isolated hotspots, with an indication of the rise in infection being the two weeks which has seen the total number of active cases going up to 6 532 by Saturday, that is the number of people who became infected and are still recovering.

Mashonaland West, which holds three of the four districts under intensified local lockdown, saw more than half of the total number of new Zimbabwean cases over the weekend, 411 of the 801 recorded. Besides the Kariba, Hurungwe and Makonde districts, Kwekwe district, where the first case of the Delta variant was reported by a resident returning from India, is under the intensified special lockdown and warnings have been given about hotspots in Chiredzi and three northern suburbs of Bulawayo.

So far since the first case last year, Zimbabwe has recorded 46 018 cases of  Covid-19, with 37 761 recoveries and 1 725 deaths.

On Saturday, an order of 500 000 Sinopharm doses bought from China arrived in Harare and an additional two million doses are expected by the end of the week.

Health and Child Care Deputy Minister Dr John Mangwiro said the latest batch of doses, bought by Treasury, would go a long way to cover all the areas classified as hotspots. The 500 000 are enough for 250 000 people to get both doses.

“The vaccines will be distributed to all the border towns, the areas that have been classified as hotspots, tobacco auction floors, cotton sales floors, GMB markets and market places like Mbare Musika, Renkini in Bulawayo and others. The Ministry of Finance has said after the two million doses arrive next week, we will receive more the following month,” he said.

Finance and economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube on Saturday said more than seven million doses will have been procured by the end of next month.

“In terms of our vaccination programme, this is yet another addition to the roadmap for the acquisition of vaccines. We have received 500 000 today, by end of next week we will receive another two million, two weeks after that we want to bring another 1,5 million. We want to carry on so that by end of August we bring in another 3,5 million vaccines again from China,” said Prof Ncube.

With US$70 million still available in Government coffers for the purchase of more vaccines, authorities reckon the enhanced regular supplies with help accelerate progress towards the target of 10 million vaccinated people, which will require 20 million doses.

Government has so far bought 1,7 million doses of Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines and received donations of another 400 000 doses of Sinopharm from the Chinese government and an additional 35 000 doses of a similar Indian vaccine from the government of India.

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces received a special donation of 100 000 Sinopharm doses from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, while Diamond producer Alrosa, delivered a consignment of 25 000 doses of the Russian manufactured vaccine — Sputnik V — with additional doses of an equal amount set to be delivered soon.

The total amount of vaccine that has now landed in Zimbabwe is 2,26 million doses. As of Saturday, 747 330 people had received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccines, while 502 178 had been fully vaccinated.

Trio Shot In The Legs In Armed Robbers’ Raid

By A Correspondent- Three armed robbers were shot in the legs and arrested over the weekend in a raid in Kuwadzana, Harare during a shootout with the police while one member of the gang managed to escape.

More Outrage Over Gutu’s Gukurahundi Remarks

National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) chairman Obert Gutu, was quoted on Tuesday saying that the Gukurahundi Genocide is a very small, tiny fraction of the various issues the Commission is looking at.

As Inhlokomo YeSizwe sikaMthwakazi pressure group, we are saddened about Obert Gutu’s remarks. First of all Gukurahundi is, and was, a genocide.

How can a genocide be reduced to a tiny thing unless the tiny thing referred to is the size of the speaker’s brain.

This simply shows the height of ignorance of Obert Gutu and his masters who are Gukurahundi architects, the likes of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Sydney Sekeremai, Constatino Chiwenga and Fredrick Shava.

As Inhlokomo we will soldier on and put more pressure on the Gukurahundi issue together with our partners in the struggle.

We, therefore, call the government of Zimbabwe and Zanu-pf to fire Obert Gutu as NPRC chair unless he is man enough to resign if at all he is a principled leader.

If the government is failing to do that Obert Gutu will be not be welcome to come and chair meetings in Matebeleland and Midlands. Gukurahundi is a very sensitive issue and subject which needs to be handled with extra care.

People like Obert Gutu who are suffering from diarrhoea of speech will cause lot of damage instead of reconciliation which is desperately needed in Zimbabwe right now.

We lost our people who were killed in cold blood and wantonly raped by the notorious 5th Brigade, As Inhlokomo YeSizwe sikaMthwakazi we are warning Zanupf and its puppet Obert Gutu not to rub salt in our fresh wounds.

We want closure on Gukurahundi and justice must prevail.

Those found guilty must be punished for their deeds. We lost over 20 000 of our people during uMbhuqazwe weGukurahundi and as Inhlokomo we are working closely with other organizations like IBhetshu likaZulu to fight for justice to prevail.

No amount of intimidation will stop us. People like Obert Gutu must be careful when dealing with such issues. Recently we have been having serious problems of Gukurahundi memorial plaques being vandlised and stolen.

Based on Obert Gutu’s utterances that Gukurahundi is a minor matter, it makes us suspect that he has a hand in such activities if not directly then indirectly.

Inhlokomo YeSizwe sikaMthwakazi pressure group will continue to put more pressure on the NPRC and Zanu-pf to deal fairly with this case of Gukurahundi.

7 Clear Signs Talent Chiwenga Is The New TB Joshua | ANALYSIS

By Howard Nyoni | There are numerous signs showing that the populistic Zimbabwean preacher, Talent Chiwenga is the new TB Joshua, an emotionist prying on vulnerable citizens.

Talent Chiwenga

1. Chiwenga like TB Joshua gets popular from Coffin prophecies, when they are just marketing material, totally baseless.

TB Joshua made money from prophesying the coffin of the former President Bingu Mutharika in 2012.

2. Chiwenga gets popular by giving political hope to Africans. Around this time 9 years ago, TB Joshua made Zimbabweans and Africans in general think his word controls the politics of Zimbabwe, when he announced the death of an African President within 60 days. It turned out he merely possessed insider medical knowledge of the president’s condition. One of his former aides who has 13 years of consistent Whistleblowing, Bisola Johnson, alleges that TB Joshua used to kill politicians who get near him.

Just after deceiving victims of the 2018 violence, subtly campaigning for Mnangagwa, Talent Chiwenga rushed to announce that two coffins will be flown into Zimbabwe and that election riggers will clash against each other in public. “Pane vamwe vanhu vachabvisa mabhache pachena,” he said. None of this ever happened.

3. TB Joshua got popular by claiming the govt is after him, when he is the one who’s killing people. After being found criminally liable for constructing a building without planning permission, TB Joshua soon rushed to claim it’s the Nigerian army which bombed his decrepit building that killed 116 people in 2014. He became popular as a result.

On the other hand, Talent Chiwenga has marketed himself as a victim of the govt by lying that the state is the one that killed his wife, two other victims, plus 3 others in a separate accident, when in all these incidents, he is the one who was the driver, and he even confesses he was overspeeding at twice the speed limit in Masvingo road for no reason other than to go buy a fanbelt(13 June 2019), and in Norton (13 July 2020), he deliberately decided to go for a head on just to expose the identity of the driver in the oncoming vehicle, who was MDC Alliance Mayor Jacob Mafume’s uncle.

3. Both Prophesy politics and always want to comment on world events they are not aware of so they attempt predictive constructs. TB Joshua has over the years made many fake promises and forth telling falsehoods that include his claim that Coronavirus will disappear by March 2020, while Chiwenga has claimed that Nelson Chamisa will be State President in 2018, and that Emmerson Mnangagwa didn’t deploy 1 Aug soldiers, something the nation witnessed on state television, ZBC… and so forth.

Talent Chiwenga also prophesies saying Econet founder Strive Masiyiwa left Zimbabwe because he is proud, when the whole of Zimbabwe knows he flew out of Zim 20 years ago because of political persecution.

4. Both are one man bands who report to none but themselves and say they control the politics of the nation. Talent Chiwenga says his “gospel controls the politics of this country,” when it’s all just self projection for marketing.

5. Both are women abusers and appear to get their psychotic powers from abusing women. TB Joshua has piles of reports and one of his secondary level victims is a Zimbabwean woman, Angela Charakupa who’s molestation he tried to cover up in May 2016. Talent Chiwenga secretly married his wife’s cousin sister 3 years before the mother of his kids’ death, and he has kids dotted across Zimbabwe, and mainly the Goromonzi area where people know him by his real namez Tazvitya Mhembere.
6. Both preachers use marketing titles for their church business. The Muslim preacher, Joshua uses the Alias TB Joshua, while Chiwenga’s real name is Tazvitya Mhembere, and yet he calls himself, Talent.

7. Both preachers project that they have monopoly over God’s messages, and His Presence. This is their main powerful encapsulating deception, a tool used by every cult leader for centuries running. – ZimEye

FULL TEXT- Mliswa Fingered In Plot To Unseat Matanga

Once again social media was abuzz with Twitter messages spread by Temba Mliswa attacking the Police Commissioner-General Godwin Tandabantu Matanga. Themba is a big mouth and an attention seeker who has been captured by senior police officers at the very highest level.

Man Consumes Poison At Ex- Wife’s Home Over Children

B yA Correspondent- A Zvishavane man is recuperating in hospital after he allegedly swallowed poison at his ex-wife’s residence after being denied access to his children.

Witnesses to the incident which occurred Monday last week said Mr Promise Mariba, a prominent legal advisor in the asbestos mining town visited her ex-wife, Angeline Phiri intending to have access to their two kids but was denied access.

A heated exchange of words erupted with the in-laws demanding lobola first before releasing the kids.

Mr Mariba then threatened to commit suicide by hanging himself at the gate of their house in Maglass but they did not take him serious as they dismissed his threats, said a witness who requested not to be named.

The witness said Mr Mariba briefly left the house but later returned with some rat poison in his hands.

He then told them that he was drinking poison if they did not release the kids but the ex-wife could not budge, said the witnesses.

Mr Mariba was later rushed to the hospital by a neighbour after he consumed the poison in front of his ex-wife and in-laws.

Mr Mariba confirmed the incident when he was contacted for a comment yesterday, saying he was now recuperating from home after being discharged from the hospital.

“But I am ok now . . . they were refusing to release my kids, so there was no reason for me to live after spending a couple of months without seeing my own kids.

“I did not want to take them for good, I only wanted to have access to my kids for the weekend but they have been refusing so I had to take that decision (drinking poison),” he said.

Mr Mariba who is now a bachelor after three failed marriages.

He recalled the events of the day in question when he visited all his ex-wives requesting temporary access to his kids.

“The other two released the kids but this other one was adamant. I wanted to have my kids for a while and go to church with them for a prayer but she were conniving with her parent to deny me access to my own kids, so I went to buy some rat poison which I then consumed in front of them in protest,” he said.

Mr Mariba said he was thankful to the health personnel who attended to him.

“I over-reacted but thank God I am alive and I also managed to have temporary access to my kids. They are however, now back with their mother,” he said.

Mutare Woman Loses US$2 000 To Kombi Crew

By A Correspondent- Police officers in Sakubva have arrested the driver and conductor of an illegal pirate kombi for allegedly teaming up with an accomplice to rob a passenger of US$2 000.

The gang pushed the passenger off the vehicle after committing the offence.

The victim quickly reported the robbery at Sakubva Police Station and detectives tracked the commuter omnibus, resulting in the arrest of the suspects.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the incident which happened last week on Thursday.

He said the complainant, Ms Molly Percy Dhliwayo of Area 16 in Dangamvura, boarded an Early Bird commuter omnibus (ADS 6515) from Mutare Central Business District en-route to Sakubva.

“One of the suspects, Blessing Tarera (35), also got into the same vehicle and sat next to the complainant. The complainant had a handbag that contained a wallet which had US$2 000, 1 300 rand and some bank cards.
“Along the way to Sakubva and between Mutare CBD and Quest Motors Bus Stop, Tarera used a sharp object to cut open the complainant’s purse. He snatched the wallet containing the cash and bank cards. All this was done in full view of Learnmore Mapare (driver) and Cuthbert Masara (conductor) but Dhliwayo saw nothing,” said Inspector Chananda.
On arrival at Quest Motors Bus Stop, Tarera disembarked from the kombi and went to his Hobhouse house where he hid the stolen cash in his Mazda 323 vehicle and left home.

When the commuter omnibus reached Sakubva Musika, Dhliwayo discovered that she had been robbed and asked to search the commuter omnibus.

As she was about to do so, the kombi crew shoved her out and sped off.
A report was made at Sakubva Police Station.

As soon as the report was made, investigations kicked off and the commuter omnibus was located in Sakubva, resulting in the arrest of Mapare and Masara.

However, the duo denied any knowledge of the robbery case.
Police operatives at ZRP Sakubva then utilised the criminal profiling system to establish Tarera’s identity.

They made a follow-up, resulting in his arrest the following day upon his return from Penhalonga where he had gone for illegal gold mining.

He led cops to his house where US$1 230 and 1 210 rands were recovered stashed in between his vehicle’s passenger seats.

The commuter omnibus was impounded and is parked at ZRP Sakubva as an exhibit.

Plot To Dethrone Matanga From Police Exposed | Opinion

Dr Masimba Mavaza

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Once again social media was abuzz with Twitter messages spread by Temba Mliswa attacking the Police Commissioner General Godwin Tandabantu Matanga. Themba is a big mouth and an attention seeker who has been captured by senior police officers at the very highest level. Mliswa has therefore boasted that he will bring evidence on how Matanga is corrupt. He is relying on Mutamba’s information about Drax which Temba is now accusing Godwin Matanga of corruption.

Two million dollars refers to a different contract ehe Drax has executed the specific Performance by delivering the goods.

So ASCOM Moyo just made a decision to stop payment without evidence and teaming up with some senior officers Moyo stopped payment and this action is to be causing great problems for the whole nation. what motivated him to take such an action which has caused great problems and embarrassed to the entire nation”?

With information provided by
Mutamba to Temba Mliswa and to Hopeless Chin’ono the case was wrongly placed at the door steps of the president.

What is happening to Matanga is a
Character assassination which is perpetrated by Temba and the officers who are not happy with Matanga.

Temba’s present Twitter was done from malice arising out of greed and corruption on the party of
The Law protects free speech, but when an untrue statement causes real harm, defamation laws and constitutional protections can collide.
MDC Alliance Mourns Netsai Marova’s Father

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance Youth Assembly deputy organising secretary Netsai Marova’s father has died.

It is unfortunate to note that the death of Netsai’s father has come at a time she is being persecuted by the Zanu PF regime.

It is with shock and grief that we note the passing on of our youth Deputy National Organizer, Netsai Marova’s father yesterday.

We in the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly and the broader democratic movement we commiserate with one of our own in these trying times.

It is sad that the untimely death of our father comes at a time when our Deputy National Organizer is facing persecution by prosecution at the hands of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime.

Since May last year Netsai has been shoved from one court to another and in and out of prison as a punishment for exposing Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime following her abduction together with Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri.

We pray the Almighty will guide our Deputy National Organizer and the Marova family as we mourn our father.

Meanwhile we urge all our Youth Assembly members to attend the funeral in spirit of solidarity which is one of our pillars as a Movement.

Zanu PF Bigwigs Caught In Looting Spree

By Concerned Citizen

THE GRAFT ROT RUNS UNPRECEDENTEDLY DEEPER IN PRESIDENT’, AND MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT’S’ HOME CITY COUNCIL OF KWEKWE, INSIDERS ALLEGE’.

Teen Molests 4 Siblings

A 19-year-old man from Chirumanzu has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after he was convicted for sexually violating his stepsister and three stepbrothers.

The accused, name withheld to protect the four victims, will however, serve 25 years in prison after five years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.

The man appeared before Gweru Regional magistrate Mr Christopher Maturure facing four counts of aggravated indecent assault. He pleaded guilty to the charges.

Prosecutor Mr Talent Tadenyika said the man started abusing his four siblings since 2018 when his mother and father divorced which resulted in his mother moving away.

The court heard that in June last year and at Njiva village headman Manhovo Chief Chirumanzu, the accused person took his four-year-old stepsister from her mother at the garden.

He went with her to the river to fetch water.

The court heard that the stepbrother laid his sister on a rock, lifted her skirt and inserted his finger into her private parts once without her consent.

The accused person persuaded the complainant not to disclose the matter.

On another matter and on June 28, at around 1900 hours, the accused person sodomised the complainant’s brother (10) in the presence of another complainant’s brother.

In March 2018, the accused person and his other stepbrother (7) were sent to the grinding mill and along the way, the accused then took complainant to a dense bush and instructed him to remove his trousers to ankle level and lay facing downwards before sodomising him.

The accused threatened to kill the complainant if he disclosed the matter. Mr Tadenyika told the court that the accused also sexually abused his other stepbrother (8) several times.

The accused person took the advantage of the fact that his stepbrothers and sister had not disclosed the sexual abuse to anyone and continuously sexual assaulted them on different occasions between 2018 and June 2020.

On July 6 last year, the complainants’ mother reported the matter to the police leading to his arrest. -Chronicle

CAF Champions League Final : Kaizer Chiefs Clash With Egyptian Giants Al Ahly

It is a clash which might divide South Africa- a dream final from a neutral’s perspective.

As congratulatory messages poured in after the referee blew the final whistle to end a tense semi-final second leg between Kaizer Chiefs and Moroccan side Wydad, which ended 0-0, meaning Amakhosi went through to the final 1-0 on aggregate, it was later confirmed they will meet Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly in the final.

A solitary Samir Nurkovic goal in the first leg propelled Chiefs to their first ever final in Africa’s premier club competition.

Al Alhly thrashed Tunisian side Esperance 4-0 on aggregate as the quest to defend their title continues.

Interestingly though, whatever happens in the final, South Africa will make history.

If Amakhosi go all the way, they will become only the third team from Mzansi to lift the trophy, after Orlando Pirates in 1995 and Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.

If Pitso Mosimane guides his Red Devils to victory, he will become the first ever South African coach to lift the trophy three times, and the first to do so consecutively, having done so with Masandawana in 2016 and with Al Ahly last season.

The tension which characterised games between Chiefs and Mosimane’s Sundowns when the outspoken coach was still in charge of the Brazilians, will be a perfect ingredient for the decider, slated for July 17 at the Stade Mohammed V in Morocco.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Fake ZRP Cop Arrested

Joas Tshuma

A HWANGE police impersonator, who had been allegedly terrorising residents and raping some of them, has been arrested.
Joas Tshuma (29) of Gamba Village in Hwange was arrested on Saturday after a month-long investigation and surveillance by police intelligence unit, working with members of the public.

He is expected to appear in court for impersonation and two counts of rape. Chronicle understands Tshuma could also be linked to six other rape cases. He allegedly pounced on women claiming to be a policeman and telling them they were under arrest.

Tshuma would then order them to accompany him to the police station and along the way allegedly rape them. Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda confirmed Tshuma’s arrest.

“Police arrested a man who raped a woman after impersonating a police officer on 25 May in Hwange,” said Insp Banda.

He said Tshuma was wearing a navy-blue anti-riot pair of trousers, police boots, a red T-shirt and black leather jacket when he allegedly raped a 19-year-old woman on Africa Day.

Tshuma allegedly introduced himself to the complainant as Constable Rupiswa before telling her that she was under arrest for not wearing a mask. He allegedly told the victim that he was taking her to the police station to pay a fine.

The woman complied and they used a small path that passes through Hwange Colliery Golf Course. Insp Banda said along the way Tshuma allegedly proposed love to the woman and she turned him down.

As they were passing by the golf clubhouse, Tshuma allegedly ordered the complainant to sit on a rock and he sat behind her. He allegedly started fondling her breasts before raping her twice.

After committing the crime, Tshuma allegedly accompanied the woman back to her place of residence and threatened to arrest her if she told anyone about what had happened.

The woman narrated her ordeal to her boyfriend who accompanied her to make a report to the police. Tshuma was arrested on Saturday following investigations. Insp Banda commended members of the public for assisting police in the arrest of Tshuma.

“Investigations are still ongoing and as police we want to thank members of the public for their co-operation through tip-offs. However, members of the public must be careful and not be swayed by anybody who looks suspicious. Where necessary people should ask to see police identification card, and especially women and children, have the right to refuse to use small paths or any route that goes through secluded places,” he said. -Chronicle

Mnangagwa To Censor NGO Programmes

Government has moved to control the work of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) focusing on youth programmes in Masvingo Province.

In a memorandum addressed to all District Development Coordinators in Masvingo Province, dated 21 June 2021, Provincial Development Coordinator (PDC) Jefter Sakupwanya said all NGOs in the province are required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation.

The directive applies to all developmental partners and NGOs including those that already have a current MoU with the respective Rural District Councils.

Sakupwanya warned those that fail to comply with the directive that their authority to operate in the particular district will be cancelled. He wrote:

Please advise all Development Partners/Non-Governmental Organisations working on Youth Programs in your respective Districts that they are required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation even if they already have a current MoU with the respective Rural District Councils.

Failure to comply with this directive will result in the cancellation of the NGOs authority to operate in that particular District.

This comes as no surprise as Government would want to keep a close eye on NGOs as the next general elections draw close.

On Thursday, ZANU PF acting political commissar Patrick Chinamasa attacked some unnamed NGOs he blamed for undermining the country’s political, economic, and judicial systems. He said:

I cannot conclude this press conference without denouncing the concerted and orchestrated destabilisation of the State or government via sponsored interventions which have become a menace.

Foreign funding by foreign intelligence services of opposition political parties, NGOs which are anything but civil is clearly calculated to undermine the orderly evolution of our political, economic and judicial systems and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.-Pindula News

No Salary Hike For Civil Servants- Government

Civil servants have for the past three years been pushing for salaries that tally with the poverty datum line, now pegged at ZW$40 000 (US$476) per month for a family of six.

Paul Mavima

Meanwhile, most public servants are earning around ZW$17 000, the equivalent to US$200.

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare minister Paul Mavima this week told the Zimbabwe Independent that raising civil servants’ salaries to the same level as PDL would be counterproductive. He said:

That is counterproductive. This is why we are talking about maintaining minimal changes for now because we want to maintain a balance where we can reserve resources for the construction of roads, schools, health facilities instead of paying public servants just to sit without service delivery or infrastructural delivery.

There has to be a painful and sometimes delicate balance between meeting the demand of our public service and maintain some resources for the country.

Mavima was speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing eighth edition of Continental Africa Public Service Day commemorations in Victoria Falls.

A series of wage talks between civil servants’ representatives and government officials have produced very little.

Mavima however, admitted that the government was seized with the issue and was cognisant of the fact it needed to restore value of the employees in real terms. He said:

There was quite some erosion that took place in employees’ salaries due to the necessary transformation of monetary policy that moved us away from the US dollar remuneration to where we introduced the Zimbabwean dollar.

Salaries remained at the same level even the value of the Zim dollar had reduced compared to the US dollar.

So we got to a situation where for example teachers when earning US$500 and got to point of earning an equivalent of US$30 or US$40 per month.

So we understand we have to balance that request with what the country can afford at this particular time.

I’m glad to say that we have moved from that US$40-50 equivalent salary to where we are now around US$200 if you use the official exchange rate.

So we have progressed significantly but we need to find means and ways of increasing salaries and wages of public service in real value. That will make them motivated.- Bulawayo 24

Robbers Pounce On Mujuru Farm

Police in Beatrice, Mashonaland East Province are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s Rusambo farm in Beatrice on Thursday night.

Masvingo Mirror reported police details as saying the complainant, Freddy Chibanda (61), who works as a security officer at the farm was on guard duty, was approached by five unknown male adults.

One of the suspects reportedly pointed an unknown pistol at the complainant and ordered him to surrender his cell phone before he was blindfolded with a white scarf.

The complainant was tied with a rope and one of the suspects was left guarding him while others proceeded to dismantle irrigation equipment.

Among the equipment stolen were 5×4 horsepower electric motors, 102 sprinklers, 1 control panel box, 5 control boxes and 283 meters armoured cable which were removed from a centre pivot.

The suspects loaded the property in an unknown vehicle and fled from the scene.

The complainant later managed to remove the cloth from his face and shouted for help.

Stephen Musona (29) who is also a security guard at the farm rushed and untied him.

A report was made at Beatrice Police Station who attended the scene and investigations are ongoing.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told Masvingo Mirror that he was yet to receive the case.- Masvingo Mirror

Kaizer Chiefs Through To Champions League Final

Kaizer Chiefs are through to the final of the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history after a goalless draw against Waydad Casablanca on Saturday.

Amakhosi won the tie 1-0 on aggregate, thanks to their first leg victory in Morocco last week.

The triumph sees Zimbabwean duo of Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande getting an opportunity to feature in the final.

It will be the second time for Billiat to achieve the feat having won the 2015 edition with Mamelodi Sundowns but the forward will have to return to full fitness first after suffering an injury a couple of months ago.

Chiefs will face the winner between Al Ahly and Esperance at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Morocco on July 17.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

MDC Alliance Youth Assembly Mourns Netsai Marova’s Father

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance Youth Assembly deputy organising secretary Netsai Marova’s father has died.

It is unfortunate to note that the death of Netsai’s father has come at a time she is being persecuted by the Zanu PF regime.

Below is the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly statement on the death of Netsai Marova’s father:

MDC Alliance Youth Assembly Commiserates With National Deputy Organizer Netsai Marova

27-06-2021

COVID-19 Vaccines: Setting The Record Straight

Questions And Answers On COVID-19 Vaccines

Questions and Answers on COVID-19 vaccines

Q: How have the vaccines been developed so quickly? Does this mean that their safety and efficacy has been compromised?

A: The speed of development of COVID-19 vaccines has been unprecedented for several reasons, but the safety and efficacy requirements for vaccines have not been compromised, Vaccine development was facilitated by:

The massive financial investment by governments, industry and philanthropic organisations in vaccine development and the re-direction of much of the global research and commercial infrastructure for the development and manufacture of vaccines. Governments also enabled companies to take the commercial risk of manufacturing some vaccine stocks ahead of regulatory approvals.

New technologies adapted from the development of other vaccines – mRNA vaccines were developed for COVID-19 very rapidly after the sequence of the COVID-19 virus was determined, but the underlying technology had been under development since much longer and production could be scaled up very quickly. The adenovirus technology used for adenovirus vector vaccines was first tested with SARS, MERS and Ebola virus over the last 20 years, and so was able to be adapted quickly to COVID-19, which has several similarities to these viruses.

Clinical trial successes – it has been possible to rapidly recruit large numbers of volunteers into clinical trials and, with unfortunately high rates of infection in several countries, to complete trials with 10,000-50,000 people in a short period of time. Under normal circumstances, it may take many months or even a few years to carry out trials of this size to determine whether a vaccine is effective.
Very close collaboration – between regulators, industry and clinical researchers enabled clear indications of regulatory requirements and early access to results.

Intensive and insightful research – researchers predicted that the “spike protein” on the virus would be a good target for vaccine development, and almost all vaccines have been designed to induce a response to this protein. So far, the spike protein has produced a strong immune response in those vaccinated, and for those vaccines that have reported clinical results are highly protective from COVID-19 disease.
Q: Will mRNA vaccines affect the DNA of vaccine recipients?

A: No. The mRNA in the vaccine has not been shown to incorporate itself into the genes of vaccine recipients and breaks down in the weeks after vaccination. mRNA vaccines contain genetic instructions for our cells, which only read them and provide copies of the SARS-CoV2 spike protein. This enables the body’s natural immune systems to cause a response in vaccine recipients if they are later exposed to the virus.

Q: How long will COVID-19 vaccination provide protection for immunised people?

A: We do not yet know how long protection from any of these vaccines lasts. We will get better insights over the next 12 months.

The duration of protection provided by vaccines can vary. For example, the seasonal influenza vaccine is given annually, because the influenza virus mutates, and protection wanes over a number of months. Other vaccines, such as those for rubella or measles provide multi-year or even life-long protection from disease. Mutations in key viral proteins can mean that virus variants emerge. The SARS-CoV-2-coronavirus is prone to mutations that creates variants, some of which have become established in a number of regions of the world. The scientific community and regulators are very actively monitoring whether the current vaccines can continue protecting people from infection with new variants.
A number of vaccine developers are currently developing vaccines against the range of variants, and it is likely that booster shots with these vaccines will increase protection against known variants. Regulators have agreed that review of data on vaccines against variants will be facilitated based on assessment of immune response to the variant, in the same way that new seasonal influenza vaccines are evaluated each year.
Q: Why are there so many vaccine candidates?

A: As the global seriousness of the pandemic became rapidly apparent, development of effective vaccines for COVID-19 became the top priority of many pharmaceutical companies and medical research institutes. There was also unprecedented government and private sector investment in vaccine development. There is now a wide range of technologies for developing new vaccines – and many of the organisations developing COVID-19 vaccines have particular experience in one or more of these technologies. This has ensured that there would still be vaccines available if some were not approved for reasons of efficacy, safety or manufacturing challenges.

Q: What if many people start getting a reaction from a particular COVID-19 vaccine?

A: Short-term reactions, such as soreness at the injection site, fatigue or headache are common following any vaccination with COVID-19 vaccines. These reactions usually pass in a day or two. If new evidence becomes available that suggests that a specific serious adverse event may be linked to a particular COVID-19 vaccine then regulators will take action, working collaboratively on a global basis and liaise with public health authorities. The type of actions that can be taken depend on the nature of the adverse event, and could range from issuing safety warnings for patients, healthcare professionals and the community; updating the product information or consumer information for the vaccine to show contraindications for the use in particular patients (e.g. those with certain co-morbidities); to closely monitoring adverse events in certain groups of patients; preventing the release of a particular batch of vaccine through to temporary suspension of the use of the vaccine until more is known.

Q: How are regulators speeding up the time it takes to authorise a COVID-19 vaccine?

A: Many regulators globally have implemented faster access pathways for COVID-19 vaccines, without compromising on strict standards of safety, quality and efficacy.

Some countries have Emergency Use Authorisation pathways which assess the available data at the time of authorisation. Exercising these provisions is a matter for those countries, taking into account the benefits versus risks in the context of the prevailing domestic pandemic situation. Different countries may coin this pathway or authorisation routes differently but essentially, they follow the same principles.
Other countries have implemented accelerated/priority, conditional or provisional approval schemes.

Under normal circumstances, regulatory assessment begins once all information to support registration is available. For COVID-19 vaccines, many regulators have agreed to accept data on a rolling basis to enable early evaluation of data as it becomes available. Regulators will only be in a position to make a provisional approval decision for a vaccine once there is sufficient data to support adequately the safety, quality and effectiveness of the vaccine for its intended use. If a decision is made to grant provisional or conditional approval, it will be based on the requirement for the sponsor to submit more comprehensive, longer term clinical data, stability data and other information with agreed timelines.
Q: Did our country approve this COVID-19 vaccine, or are we relying on another country’s approval?

A: Most countries are carrying out independent regulatory evaluations on the submitted data for each vaccine. However, to ensure a more efficient use of resources and expertise, regulators in different countries are communicating closely on safety, efficacy and quality data and discussing technical issues as they may arise. In many cases principles of WHO Good Reliance Practices and collaborative mechanisms leverage the output of other regulators.

Q: Why weren’t very rare blood clots with low platelets with the AstraZeneca or Janssen vaccines picked up during clinical trials?

A: Thromboembolic events with concurrent thrombocytopenia are very rare – with estimates based on the number of spontaneous reports suggesting an overall incidence on the order of 10-15 cases per million doses. The clinical trials of these vaccines included large numbers of people, often with 10,000 to 20,000 individuals in the active vaccine arms, but even in trials of this size it was statistically unlikely that such very rare events would be detected. This shows the importance of continual safety monitoring during the use of these vaccines, to allow very rare events to be detected and investigated further.

Zanu PF Heavyweights Caught In Stinking Acts Of Corruption In Mnangagwa “Home Ground”

By Concerned Citizen

THE GRAFT ROT RUNS UNPRECEDENTEDLY DEEPER IN PRESIDENT’, AND MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT’S’ HOME CITY COUNCIL OF KWEKWE, INSIDERS ALLEGE’.

Tragedy As Netsai Marova Loses Dad At A Time She Is Being Terrorized By Zanu PF Regime

27-06-2021

Businessman Ken Sharpe Torches Storm Over ‘Fraudulent’ Court Affidavit

BY A CORRESPONDENT| Controversial land baron Kenneth Raydon Sharpe is in the eye of a storm after he allegedly cooked up his affidavits before the High Court of Zimbabwe to conceal his location.

This is contained in an answering affidavit submitted before the High Court by Harare North legislator Norman Markham.

Markham approached the High Court of Zimbabwe to stop the ‘illegal’ and ‘fraudulent’ transfer of Stand Number 654 Pomona Township which measures 274 hectares to Sharpe’s Doorex Properties as payment for the construction of Airport Road.

The former Harare Ward 46 Councillor insists that Sharpe’s Augur Investments did not fulfil the terms of the agreement with City of Harare to warrant such huge tracts of state land.

In his answering affidavit, Markham accused Sharpe of forging his affidavit which he purports were done before a Notary Public in Dubai.

Kenneth Raydon Sharpe, the man at the centre of the controversial land transfer

According to Markham, the affidavit is fraudulent on the basis that it has a stamp dated 24 March 2021 yet Sharpe’s signature indicates a different dates (23 March 2021).

One of the main ways that a notary prevents fraud in written transactions is to require that the document signer personally appear before the notary at the time of the notarization.

“Most shockingly, the affidavit we received at 1330 hours has the stamp of the Notary Public dated the 24th of March 2021. However, Kenneth Raydon Sharpe signature is on the 23rd of March 2021,” says Markham in his answering affidavit.

Markham is convinced that Sharpe who is a fugitive from justice did not appear before a notary as he does not want his location to be known.

“The reason is simple. Kenneth Raydon Sharpe is fugitive from justice. He is not in Dubai but he is hiding somewhere in Seychelles.

“By swearing an affidavit before a Notary Public in Seychelles or whatever country he is residing, he will direct the attention of the Zimbabwe Republic Police who are looking for him to this destination.

“The affidavit is therefore not signed before a Notary Public that is why the Notary Public from Dubai refuses to put his signature,” added Markham.

He also questions the fact that the affidavits signed on the 24th of March 2021 in Dubai reached Zimbabwe to be served both to the High Court and Tendai Biti Law at 10:10am, something he says raises suspicion of fraud.

“The papers were issued in court on the 24th of March 2021. How is it possible that an affidavit that was sworn before a Notary Public in Dubai on the 24th of March 2021 reaches Zimbabwe on the 24th of March 2021 to be served in the High Court of Zimbabwe and to be served at Tendai Biti Law at 10:10am in the morning?” further questions Markham.

Sharpe is facing countless lawsuits over his transactions with both the City of Harare and the Government which according to various litigants smacks of corruption and primitive accumulation of urban land to the detriment of citizens of Zimbabwe.

“Corruption Rot In ED’s Backyard”

By Concerned Citizen

THE GRAFT ROT RUNS UNPRECEDENTEDLY DEEPER IN PRESIDENT’, AND MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT’S’ HOME CITY COUNCIL OF KWEKWE, INSIDERS ALLEGE’.

Kombi Crew In Soup Over Robbery

“Sign Fresh MoUs Or Face The Chop”: Zanu Pf Tells NGOs

Cases Of Armed Robberies Rise

By A Correspondent- The courts have convicted 477 armed robbers throughout the country since the beginning of the year as armed robbery cases increase in Harare and Bulawayo.

In recent months, precious lives have been lost while some unfortunate victims have suffered life-threatening injuries during violent crimes involving firearms and other dangerous weapons.

In Bulawayo, people are still to come to terms with last month’s horrific scene at Ascot Shopping Centre, where a young female employee was callously executed during a brazen robbery at the liquor store.

Communities are naturally terrified.

However, law enforcement agents have heightened surveillance and continue actively pursuing suspects.

Between January and May this year, 477 people were convicted and jailed for armed robberies, according to statistics from the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).

This represents a significant increase from 379 criminals in the same period last year.
Further, 107 have been jailed since the beginning of the year after being found in possession of unlicensed firearms.

Despite best efforts from the police in hunting down these criminals, the trend seems to be continuing.

“The figures have become disturbingly high of late. It was never the case in the previous years. There is need for stern action and combined effort to curb this vice,” said ZPCS spokesperson Superintendent Meya Khanyezi.

It is believed that most of the robberies are inside jobs, where employees, friends or even relatives work in concert with the robbers.

The insiders pass on crucial information that is handy for the criminal enterprise. There are growing instances of victims that are being robbed at traffic intersections, roundabouts and lay-bys.

“The ZRP is disturbed with the rate at which armed robberies are occurring around the country. We have intensified efforts to account for robbery syndicates who are moving around the country attacking members of the public, who include motorists,

usinesspeople and people walking or moving alone,” said police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi in a statement.

“. . . police warns that their (robbers) day in court will surely come, and members of the public are implored to keep on reporting all criminal activities.”

Criminologist and Bindura University of Science Education lecturer Collins Chikomba opines some of the criminal activities can be attributed to recent economic shocks.
“The upward trend in the rate of incarceration reflects on rising crime rates, particularly armed robberies and other property crimes, which should lead to calls from the public on punitive policies that are both rhetorically and substantially tougher on crime. There is a general belief in public that the rise in these types of crime(s), including corruption, was/is linked to corrupt police officials and lenient sentences,” he said.

However, crime and security expert Brian Kashangura says increased crime can be traced to the country’s porous borders.

“Most of the criminals cross borders into neighbouring countries where they buy firearms and smuggle them into the country. Also, we have individuals that illegally cross the border, learn all sorts of crimes and then return to practice it back home,” he said.

“It is sad that at present, hardly a day passes by without an armed robbery in Zimbabwe. This current trend is not normal at all. It is unprecedented; we seem to now have robbers and guns all over the place. The law needs to be strict on those who are caught offside so that we send a clear message to would-be robbers.”

Loopholes that cause hardcore criminals to abscond after getting bail, Kashungara added, have to be urgently plugged.

“Yes, we have the Constitution, but in some cases the evidence is so overwhelming . . . Such people should not be considered for bail. Society needs to be kept safe.”

Until recently, the country had managed to keep a lid on violent crime because communities have been working closely with law enforcement agents to weed out the bad apples. Police encourage communities to provide viable tip-offs.

Crime experts, however, express the need for the Government to adequately resource security agents with tools of the trade that can help to investigate and track down criminals. They also believe cross-border cooperation between law enforcement agents could help to eliminate convenient hideouts in foreign jurisdictions.

Kashangura added: “We also need cooperation between countries to contain the situation. Criminals flee from one country to another after committing crime, which makes it tough as a country to work in isolation . . .

“The issue of members of the public travelling with large sums of money is also creating problems . . . by deciding to personally handle your finances, you are merely placing yourself in danger . . . Police also need to continue raising awareness in the public, encouraging them not to keep large sums of money.”

The Government has already put armed robbers and drug dealers on notice.

At the burial of the late national hero, Father Emmanuel Ribeiro, on Monday, President Mnangagwa said criminal syndicates will be dismantled.

“ . . . gun-related crime will not be tolerated. Law enforcement agencies and the courts must work in concert to ensure that perpetrators of gun-related crimes, and drug kingpins, the supply chains and drug vendors are definitely smoked out and brought to book,” he said.

Zimparks Rangers Shooting Victim Seeks Justice

By A Correspondent- A Chinhoyi man is seeking justice over the Darwendale shootout that occurred in  November last year, where he survived two bullets on both legs.

Tafadzwa Mushamba (37) was caught by Zimparks rangers and police officers hunting in the company of Kurt Leeroy Rahman, Phillip Mwamuka and the owner of the farm Magatsi with all required papers on the 19th November 2020.

“Our papers were in order so we went hunting from 10 pm to 2 am and on our way back as we drew closer to Magatsi’s homestead we were saddened by gunshots 4 of them at Rahman and two on my both legs,” Mushamba said.

He added that the police officers who shot them from Darwendale were four and they came upon invitation from the neighbouring farms who thought they were invaded by poachers when they heard them hunting.

Mashamba said he wants justice and compensation of what he went through when they were carrying out legit hunting.

“The case was heard at Chinhoyi Magistrates courts and l was acquitted and l have tried through my lawyers to get judgement to no avail and all documents under case number 2911/2018 and p-p-g number B-A 366/2019 are nowhere to be found and this is frustrating my efforts to seek justice”.

Efforts to get comments from police, Zimparks and Judicia service commission were fruitless as no one seemed to know the case.

Minister Distances Self From Farm Grab Reports

By A Correspondent- Lands and Agriculture minister Anxious Masuka has distanced himself from the seizure of a farm belonging to prominent human rights lawyer Siphosami Malunga and his business partners, with his juniors saying the Matabeleland North provincial leadership is behind the move to grab the property.

This comes at a time when Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs minister of state Richard Moyo has practically confirmed he spearheading the seizure, telling The NewsHawks that there is no going back on the farm confiscation.

A local publication established that Central Intelligence Organisation  co-deputy director-general Gatsha Mazithulela, Zanu PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu and Moyo are behind the move to seize the property.

Mazithulela, a distinguished scientist, is a former Nust pro-vice-chancellor (innovation and business development), and has reportedly been vigorously pushing for the farm seizure for political reasons.

Moyo is the one spearheading the seizure and claims the farm owners have no proof of ownership.

Siphosami, the executive  director of the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa and son of the late nationalist Sydney Malunga, co-owns Kershelmar Farms (Pvt) Ltd with businessman Charles Moyo and Zephaniah Dhlamini, a scientist working at the National University of Science and Technology (Nust). The company, which they bought, owns the farm.

The farm was initially owned by Jeffrey Swindells, a white farmer, who then sold Kershelmar – with the farm – to Malunga, Dhlamini and Charles Moyo.

However, in a notice in the Government Gazette, Masuka said the farm, known as Esidakeni, measuring 553 hectares and situated in Nyamandlovu, Matabeleland North province, is being compulsory acquired under section 72(2) of the country’s constitution.

The move has sparked widespread condemnation as it comes against a backdrop of growing land seizures from black people, especially its critics. The farm is also highly productive. Besides, the move violates property rights, the rule of law and spooks investors. It also further damages government’s reputation.

But yesterday Masuka said he was not the initiator and mover of the land grab. The lands ministry says Richard Moyo is.

“I am not aware of any farm seizure of Malunga’s farm,” Masuka said, referring the reporter to his juniors before cutting his mobile phone.

Lands and Agriculture ministry spokesperson Barbara Machekano said the Matabeleland North leadership led by Richard Moyo is responsible for the farm grab.

“Moyo is the one responsible for that province. At head office level, Masuka is just there to sign offer letters; because of devolution, provincial ministers are the ones responsible for the issuance of offer letters, and they are the best to comment on any land offer issues in their respective provinces,” Machekano said.

Practically confirming this, Richard Moyo said Malunga and his business associates did not own the farm. He said the property should have been grabbed by the government a time long ago.

“That land does not belong to the Malunga family. It was acquired by the government and belongs to the government. They are claiming to have bought shares to the property, but you cannot buy shares to a land that has been acquired by government,” Moyo said.

“There is no going back on that farm seizure. We should have taken the farm a long time ago. Besides, they do not have any documentation showing that they own the property.

“Dhlamini and (Charles) Moyo came to my offices to explain themselves, but failed to provide any papers. “We have given beneficiaries, 14 of them, offer letters to occupy that farm. They also claim that their documents were stolen. Documents of the property stay with the owner of that property, they cannot be kept at the offices. It is clear that they want to raise dust to tarnish the image of the government.”

Investigations by The NewsHawks show that Richard Moyo’s story is misleading and untrue. The facts are clear: the farm was not designated by the government in the first place, let alone acquired. By its own admission, the government believed it was owned by the late Eddie Warambwa, a black farmer, hence it was not taken.

Information gathered shows the farm was owned by Swindells through Kershelmar (Pvt) Ltd. Swindells then leased it out to Warambwa as a going dairy concern, but retained land ownership.

Warambwa ran the dairy project, which he had acquired from Swindells, without buying the farm itself. Besides thinking that it was owned by Warambwa, the other reason the government did not take over the farm is that it was a dairy project.

Dairy farms were spared from compulsory acquisition.

In its 18 December 2020 notice to acquire the farm, the government unwittingly admits it is owned by Kershelmar which, in turn, is now controlled by Malunga, Dhlamini and Moyo.

This is contrary to the authorities’ claim that the three investors bought Keshelmar without the farm, yet in fact the property is even officially referred to in the government gazette as Kershelmar Farms (Private) Limited.

Chiefs Want Gutu Booted Out Of NPRC Over Gukurahundi Remarks

By A Correspondent- Matabeleland traditional leaders have called for the resignation of former MDC-T vice-president Obert Gutu from the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) claiming he was conflicted and thus could not deal with the emotive Gukurahundi issue.

Gutu is the NPRC spokesperson and on Tuesday courted fire when he said the Gukurahundi issue, which claimed over 20 000 people from Matabeleland and Midlands regions in the 1980s, was “a small tiny fraction of issues” his commission was seized with.

The civilians were massacred by a crack army unit deployed to the region by then Prime Minister Robert Mugabe to flush out perceived PF-Zapu dissidents.

Yesterday, traditional leaders joined human rights groups in condemning Gutu, describing his statements as retrogressive and malicious to the founding principles of the NPRC. Chief Mathema of Gwanda said Gutu was not adding any value to the NPRC and should resign with immediate effect.

“He (Gutu) lacks the calibre required for this emotive genocide Chief Mathema said.

“He is not a serious person and he lacks depth in approaching the Gukurahubndi issue. He should better excuse himself from this important commission that people hope will solve most of their problems that relate to Gukurahundi. He lacks in-sight into human nature”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa last year tasked the traditional leaders in Matabeleland and Midlands regions to preside over the emotive issue and consult affected citizens on the way forward. He said government would only capacitate the process.

Chief Jahana of Insiza said Gutu was clueless when it came to dealing with matters of conflict and could worsen the situation.

“He (Gutu) has no focus as a person coming from the region that never lost any relative in such genocide Chief Jahana said.

Ibhetshu LikaZulu secretary-general Mbuso Fuzwayo said Gutu’s remarks exposed the NPRC as a tool used by government, the chief perpetrator, in buying time.

“The appointment of Gutu removed all doubt about government’s unwillingness to find a lasting solution on the Gukurahundi genocide Fuzwayo said.

“Gutu’s history of fraternising with the Zanu PF regime dates back to the days of Gukurahundi genocide, where he was part of the Judiciary that was a vital tool in human rights violations.

“It’s very unfortunate and sad that the whole NPRC can sit and agree that the genocide, which claimed a minimum of 20 000 lives, left thousands of women abused, raped, scores bayoneted, many people dis-placed, tortured and forcibly disappeared, is nothing but a ‘small, tiny fraction”

NPRC chairperson Selo Nare was not reachable for comment on Gutu’s remarks.-Newsday

Zim Courts Convict Over 450 Armed Robbers

We have intensified efforts to account for robbery syndicates who are moving around the country attacking members of the public, who include motorists, businesspeople and people walking or moving alone,” said police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi in a statement.
“. . . police warns that their (robbers) day in court will surely come, and members of the public are implored to keep on reporting all criminal activities.”

REMEMBERING 27 JUNE

Emmerson Mnangagwa was the chief election agent for Zanu PF in the 2008 election which they had a campaign of violence under themes “Mugabe muOffice” “Operation Wakavhotera papi literally meaning Mugabe in the office and whom did you vote for.

By Leonard Koni

Not forgetting that the current President and his close military associates marshalled the beating of people.

That was a traumatic period for the whole nation. So many people were tortured, badly beaten or lost their beloved ones.

A terrible experience of our Zimbabwean history which should never be torelated again.

27 June 2008 presidential election run off was the most treacherous electoral episode under the late Robert Gabriel Mugabe after Gukurahundi.

The role of the military in Zanu PF is not new and just recently Patrick Chinamasa confirmed that the army plays a pivotal role in the revolutionary party.

In 2008 this unrepentant government set up the military and Zanu PF militia against MDC and opposition supporters murdering hundreds of people and some were displaced.

I vividly recall the unfashionable notorius Border Gezi popularly known as Green Bombers which was unleashed to cause mayhem in the opposition’s main strongholds. They asked whether one should get a short and long sleeve.

I was stationed at ZRP Borrowdale and one day I was doing some shopping at Sam Levy Village Shopping Centre and I wanted to buy the Daily News paper which was selling like hot cake during those days.

When I asked for the paper from the newspaper vendor
I was told to wait for about two minutes because he wanted to go and pick it from where he was hiding because the Green Bombers didnt want to see an imperialist paper selling in the streets.

27 June 2008 is an unforgettable day when the whole country was submerged into a blanket of fear. The day Baba Bona contested in a solo election when the late Morgan Richard Tsvangirayi refused to participate in that sham election.

I was deployed at Mt Pleasant High Command centre and everything was done within twenty four hours from voting, counting, verification and swearing in of the President. A plane was already on standby waiting to lift Uncle Bob to go to Egypt for an African Union meeting. Will the Zanu PF government apologise to these crimes they committed?

Zanu PF Snatches Harare And Bulawayo

By A Correspondent- The Zanu PF has snatched all road networks in Harare and Bulawayo from the MDC-Alliance councils to discredit the opposition ahead of the 2023 national elections.

According to the state media, Zanu PF wants to use taxpayers money Under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP), to rehabilitate the damaged roads in these two cities.

In the Harare Metropolitan Province, Zanu PF has taken 33 roads covering 249km and handed them over to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development and in Bulawayo, the party has grabbed, 16 roads covering 61,8km.

Zanu PF Grabs Roads Network From Chamisa Led Councils

By A Correspondent- The Zanu PF led government has taken over 700km of roads from local authorities countrywide for the party to gain political mileage ahead of the 2023 national elections.

According to the state media, Zanu Pf would use funds Under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP), to rehabilitate the damaged roads.

Authorities have declared the country’s roads a “state of disaster”.
The road network which runs up to 708,6 km cover the length and breadth of the country’s 32 urban local authorities.

Harare Metropolitan Province has ceded 33 roads covering 249km to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, while 16 roads in Bulawayo (61,8km) have been taken over.

Nearly $16 billion has been set aside for the rehabilitation programme, with Mashonaland West province accounting for the bulk of the outlay at about $2,3 billion.
Roads in Harare will be refurbished at a cost of $1,3 billion, while those in Bulawayo will chew up $625 million.
Transport secretary Engineer Theodius Chinyanga, said the rehabilitation works will cover pothole patching and resurfacing of roads that have been excessively damaged.

He said most of the work will now commence. Requisite procurement of maintenance material has been completed.

“It is important that we indicate that most of the roads will receive pothole patching and in some instances where the road is too damaged for pothole patching it will be resurfaced,” said Eng Chinyanga.

“At the moment the resources that we have do not permit us to reconstruct all roads that is why we are patching potholes.
“Several roads and bridges around the country have outlived their design life and are showing signs of distress evidenced by heavy potholing, cracking and rutting among other visible failure modes. Most of these roads are now in need of rehabilitation or reconstruction.
“More progress in improving the road and bridge conditions around the country is expected in the immediate term as a number of procurements are being concluded and works starting under various road authorities.
“Government is also exploring ways of augmenting its purse in order to achieve more than originally targeted and prevent further deterioration of roads and bridges.”

Luke-ing The Beast In The Eye: Morgan Tsvangirai’s June 27 Epistle To The People Of Zimbabwe

Sunday , 27 June 2021

By Luke Tamborinyoka

Introduction

Today is 27 June 2021. In Zimbabwe’s tenuous political story, June 27 is infamous for the bloody violence in the contrived run-off poll of 27 June 2008 in which Zanu PF used massive violence to reverse the 29th March 2008 poll victory by Morgan Tsvangirai. On 22 June of the same year, Morgan Tsvangirai had pulled out of the violent run-off saying he could not sacrifice the people for power– famously stating that he would not walk to State House on top of dead bodies and graves. The contrived blood-soaked run-off plebiscite was dismissed by SADC and the AU as a sham, leading to the formation of the inclusive government in February 2009, which government brought the much-needed fillip to the weather-beaten people of Zimbabwe.

Since then, June 27 has become a figurative expression of the demon of State-sanctioned violence in the country. It could not have been a mere coincidence that Zanu PF chose this week to give a solemn warning that June 27 as an epoch of violence is likely to recur ahead of the next election. Zanu-PF acting national commissar Patrick Anthony Chinamasa appears to have deliberately chosen the June 27 week to boisterously declare that Zanu PF and the army are inseparable. The idea was probably to send shivers down the spines of ordinary Zimbabweans by stating that Zanu-PF will continue to abuse the army for parochial partisan interests in violation of section 208 of the Constitution. Zimbabweans have not forgotten that the June 27 2008 violence was mainly orchestrated by the army. Chinamasa’s reckless utterances are thus a harbinger of more violent moments to come. His utterances are an ominous warning that Zanu-PF will continue to abuse the military to overturn what will certainly be the people’s overwhelming anti-regime verdict in the watershed 2023 plebiscite.

But today, I want to remind Zimbabweans of the other dark side of June 27 as a wicked political moment—a day that grossly interfered with high pitched chorus for change in Zimbabwe. In many respects, June 27 will go down into the annals of history as a dark patch in the country’s strident march to democracy and freedom. Today, I republish Morgan Tsvangirai’s 27 June 2016 memo to the people of Zimbabwe. It was an epic public disclosure that he had been diagnosed with cancer of the colon. It was the statement in which he went public for the first time about the epidemiological violence that eventually felled him. It will remain a matter of conjecture whether his condition was natural or contrived by a regime so adept at getting rid of its political opponents.

I had privately haggled with Dr Tsvangirai on when he could make this disclosure to the people of Zimbabwe. He had told me he would ruminate over the matter before making his decision. The intricate details on this and his relationship with Mugabe during the era of the inclusive government as well as his fears, hopes and frustrations, including some details which might shock readers, are all contained in my forthcoming book, Service and *Sacrifice, that will be on the market in the very near future.

Suffice to say on 27 June 2016, while on a medical trip to South Africa, President Tsvangirai called me to say he had finally made a decision to go public on his health condition. He then asked me to draft a short message on his behalf divulging his medical condition to the people of this country. We exchanged drafts over the phone before I finally released the following statement on his behalf that very day,. The disclosure of his medical condition marked a seismic chapter in the country’s history, culminating in the death of Zimbabwe’s democracy icon on 14 February 2018 .

The late Tsvangirai braved his ailment. He Luke-ed the Beast of death right in the retina of the eye until his death. His diagnosis with cancer of the colon spawned big decisions, including the appointment of two more Vice Presidents, which decision the regime would later seize through captured State institutions in a vain attempt to decimate the party.

And yet the people’s party still stands proud and tall today, despite the brickbats and vicious blows thrown at it to douse the hope of a determined people that will certainly unite Zimbabwe for change.

For me, Dr Tsvangirai’s terse June 27 memo republished below will always remain a poignant epistle in the momentous story of this country’s democratic struggle:

President Morgan Tsvangirai speaks on_ _his health

On the 8th of May 2016, my Zimbabwean doctors referred me to South Africa where a further diagnosis revealed that I am suffering from cancer of the colon. Following the diagnosis last month, I underwent an operation last month that was very successful.

However, a diagnosis of cancer is the first of several medical procedures that include treatment through chemotherapy, which treatment I began this week. As a leader and a public figure, I have taken a decision to make public my condition. It is my firm belief that the health of national leaders, including politicians, should not be a subject of national speculation and uncertainty.
I want to thank my wife Elizabeth for her love and caring, my family, MDC members and the broader Zimbabwean society for their prayers and support on this journey.

This health condition is unfortunate but can be faced by anyone. I intend to confront this development with the determination to overcome it. In the meantime, let us remain focused in confronting the national crisis we face.

God bless you all.

Chamisa Cracks Whip On Bulawayo Party Leadership

By A Correspondent-The Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance (MDC-A) has deployed an investigating committee to probe the party’s Bulawayo provincial chairperson James Sithole, following a vote of no-confidence passed by the provincial youth assembly.

On June 14, MDC-A Bulawayo youth made a shock decision against Sithole whom they accused of an “incestuous political relationship” with archrival MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora.

Party’s deputy national spokesperson Felix Magalela Sibanda said the alliance has appointed a committee to investigate the allegations.
“The party has set up a committee to look at the developments,” Sibanda said.

He declined to discuss the matter in detail citing ongoing investigations.
Even the names of the committee members have been kept under wraps.
MDC-A Bulawayo provincial youth chairperson Tinashe Kambarami claimed that Sithole was facilitating the “unconstitutional” recall of elected MPs and councillors by the Mwonzora’s faction.

“As a provincial youth assembly, we came up with a position that we can no longer be chaired by James Sithole in Bulawayo. The reason being, we cannot spearhead the agenda of removing Zanu PF when we are not even clear if he is with us or with other people,” Kambarami said.
He alleged that the Mwonzora MDC-T was a creation of Zanu PF to cause confusion among the electorate.

“We are the genuine alternative government as the MDC-A. Our duty as an assembly is to protect the party from internal and external forces fighting our agenda. So, we are very clear that the issue we want the public to know is that we no longer want to be chaired by Sithole,” Kambarami added.

He also said there were several party members who were allegedly working with Sithole to destabilise the MDC-A.

“We had a meeting about three weeks ago where Sithole tried to remove some of our leaders. All these issues show you that there is a hidden agenda that Sithole is pushing,” Kambarami alleged.
Kambarami also confirmed that a committee has been set up to deal with the matter.
“Yes they have set up a committee to deal with the issue; so we will get the position after they do their investigations,” he said.
Approached for comment, Sithole said he was not aware of the allegations raised against him. “I cannot comment on the issue,” he said.
The MDC-A has been in turmoil in recent years as the Nelson Chamisa-led party is stalked by defections and intra-party battles.

CONFUSION As Govt Says Pupils In Public Schools Do Not Need IDs To Register

PUPILS who are learning at public schools do not require National Identity Cards to register for Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations, an official has said.

Public schools also include those run by local authorities and the non-profiting mission schools. The clarification comes after thousands of youths, mostly those sitting for Ordinary and Advanced Level public examinations this year, thronged various Civil Registry Department across the country after the department on Wednesday announced it will open its office this weekend to help public examination candidates attain National Identity cards.

“Following the recent receipt of consumables required for the securitisation of IDs, which has since been dispatched to all provinces and districts, the Civil Registry Department wishes to advise its valued clients and members of the public, that it will be issuing IDs to candidates intending to sit for the General Certificate in Education Ordinary and Advanced Level November 2021 Examinations.

“All candidates intending to sit the GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations but do not possess IDs which are required for registration are advised to visit their nearest Civil Registry Offices countrywide from Saturday 26 June to Sunday 27 June 2021 between 0800-1500hrs,” said the Department last Wednesday.

However, the Director of Advocacy and Communication in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Mr Taungana Ndoro, told Sunday News yesterday that only private candidates are required to present Identity Cards when registering for public examinations.

“We have also seen the huge queues of children seeking to get ID cards but the policy is that if you are a formal pupil at a public school you do not need an ID to register to sit for public examinations. IDs are only for those private candidates, people who are coming from non-formal schooling or those who are seeking to supplement subjects.”

Mr Ndoro said a lot of pupils without IDs have already registered for the November public examinations.

In May Zimsec announced that the closing date for payment and submission of entries for this year’s November examinations is 9 July and late entries will close on 30 July. Government also announced a 55 percent subsidy for those writing the examinations in public schools bringing the total cost to $5 194 for seven O-Level subjects and $3 240 for three A-Level subjects. However, those in the public system but who intend to write more subjects will pay the full cost for the extra subjects.

This year’s full cost for O-Level will be $1 648 a subject for candidates at private schools and colleges while those eligible for the subsidy will pay $742 a subject, with a maximum of seven subjects covered by the subsidy.

A-Level exam fees at private schools and colleges are $2 400 a subject and $1 080 a subject in the public system, up to a maximum of four subjects.

The Government scrapped the June public examinations after delays caused by the Covid-19 preventative measures saw last November’s exams overlapping into early this year and there was a late start to the first term this year.

TODAY IN HISTORY: Zimbabweans Remember 27 June When Mugabe Ran A Solo Election

27 June 2008, the late Zanu PF leadership, Robert Mugabe ran a solo election after the opposition MDC candidate the late Morgan Tsvangirai had pulled out due to violence targeted against his supporters by state security agents.

Each year on the 27th of June, Zimbabweans always remember the day and the memories are not rosy in any way as they are littered with sad pictures of tortured people as Mugabe sought to reverse the March presidential election result in which he was defeated by Tsvangirai.

Mugabe would go on to claim victory and got sworn in before flying out to an African Union summit where he was told to sit down with Tsvangirai in what culminated in a government of national unit.

Even though, Mugabe negotiated with Tsvangirai and Mutambara, Zimbabweans still remember the events leading to 27 June as thousands of people were displaced, hundreds dead as soldiers and secret service agents were deployed across the country to reverse Mugabe’s electoral defeat.

Bulawayo Not Under Localised Lockdown, Govt Clarifies

Bulawayo is still under the general lockdown regulations, with the 10pm to 5:30am curfew and business closing by 6pm, and is not one of the four districts placed under the intensified special lockdown that includes a 6pm to 6 am curfew and a 3pm closing time for business as recently announced in some sections of the media, Health and Child Care Deputy Minister John Mangwiro said yesterday.

He was clarifying the position over reports that police in Bulawayo had introduced the tougher curfew as three Bulawayo suburbs were declared Covid-19 hot spots after the last Cabinet meeting: Nkulamane, Emakhadeni and the northern suburbs. While people in these hotspots, and other identified hotspots, are being urged to be extra vigilant, they are still under the general rules that allow most business to remain open to 6pm with the curfew starting at 10pm.

Under amended regulations gazetted yesterday by Vice President Chiwenga in his capacity as Health and Child Care Minister, the special intensified lockdown is limited at the moment to Hurungwe, Kariba, Kwekwe and Makonde districts and in these four districts the curfew is now 6pm to 6am, basically the hours of darkness in a Zimbabwean winter, with greater limitations on business opening hours and only essential service vehicles transiting the four districts allowed to move during the curfew hours.

The curfew in three of these districts was set last week at 7pm to 6am, but has now been extended and includes Makonde.

This means that the rest of the country is under the general lockdown regulations, with the shorter curfew, that were tightened recently but which still allow almost all businesses to remain open to 6pm.

That general tightening barred social and religious gatherings, except funerals and those are limited to 30 people.

The amended regulations have defined social gatherings more precisely to close legal loopholes but basically ensure that anything that people might see as a social gathering is one and so is legally banned.

The amended regulations also insist that anyone travelling from India or who has transited through India on their way to Zimbabwe not only has to have the PCR negative certificate that all travellers require, but also has to be retested at their own expense on arrival and even then, if negative, still be quarantined at their own expense for another 10 days and then undergo another test before they can move around under pertaining lockdown rules.

Dismissing the Bulawayo reports that the police were seeing the special lockdown rules that apply to the four listed districts also applied to parts of the city, Dr Mangwiro told a media conference in Harare last night that only the Presidium or Health Minister had the mandate to announce intensified lockdown measures.

Mnangagwa Regime Blocks NGOs From Conducting Voter Registration Campaigns

No Salary Hike For Civil Servants – Mavima

Civil servants have for the past three years been pushing for salaries that tally with the poverty datum line, now pegged at ZW$40 000 (US$476) per month for a family of six.

Robbers Raid Joice Mujuru Farm

Our First Task Is To Deal With Corruption- MDC Alliance

Tinashe Sambiri|Contrary to claims by critics that President Nelson Chamisa does not have clear national policies, MDC Alliance Youth Assembly Secretary General, Gift Ostallos Siziba has unpacked the $100 billion dollar strategy set to transform the country’s waning economy.

Speaking during an online discussion forum, Siziba said the $ 100 billion dollar economic recovery plan would be implemented over a period of 10 years.

“President Advocate Nelson Chamisa’s vision is clear and straightforward- first and foremost we have to deal with the corruption endemic.

Where do we find corruption? In health, agriculture and other sectors of the clueless regime.

You cannot dream of transforming the economy when there is lack of transparent leadership.

Our task is to restore the social contract. Citizens play a vital role in the formulation of policies.

On the contrary the Zanu PF regime is dictating its will to suffering citizens.

Ordinary citizens know that Advocate Nelson Chamisa is the man who can spearhead economic transformation.

Ideas come from the people,” said Siziba.

Mnangagwa Accuses “Africans Looking Down Upon Themselves of Holding Back Africa” | TRUTH or UTTER NONSENSE?

Emmerson Mnangagwa

By Patrick Guramatunhu | “PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa Friday took time to criticise some Africans he accused of continuously looking down upon themselves while apportioning high regard for Western ways of doing things,”
the report said.

“Let me explain to you why it is called Victoria Falls. There was a man called David Livingstone who visited this area and found some people who told him it is called Mosi-oa-Tunya and he couldn’t comprehend. He named it after his Queen Victoria Falls who was sitting somewhere back there in his country. If we advertise saying visit Mosi-oa-Tunya you don’t come, but if we say come to Victoria Falls you come. That is the tragedy of Africa,” said Mnangagwa.

Actually the real tragedy of Africa is that we, especially our domineering “Misstra Know It All” leaders, make mountains out of mole-hills.

If calling the falls, Victoria Falls brings in tourists in the hundreds the and with them the wealth to the local community and the nation at large; and calling it Mosi-oa-Tunya only brings in a few tourists. Then call it Victoria Falls.

It was China’s Chairman Deng Xiaoping who famously said “It doesn’t matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.”

Many Africans’ anti-West rhetoric is the antithesis of the inferiority complex brought on by the white supremacists’ racist rhetoric. The rhetoric has become an obsession admitting failure in anything, even in the face of a mountain of evidence to prove the failure, is tantamount to acknowledging one’s racial inferiority.

Of course, that is nonsense because we all make mistakes regardless of our race, gender, etc. And therefore to refuse to being fallible is to refuse to being human. It is bad enough for an individual to bury one’s head in the sand and refuse to admit to one’s failures but when the individual is in a position of power and authority, is a national leader, the consequences of a nation blundering from pillar to post will drag the whole nation into the gutter!

41 years and counting of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and rank lawlessness has dragged Zimbabwe deeper and deeper into this hell-on-earth. Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies have usurped the people’s freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. And so Zanu PF has dragged the nation into this hell-hole and we, the people have been helpless to stop it.

Mnangagwa said Pan Africa Postal Union should play a developmental role in uplifting standards of living in line with aspirations of the Africa Union’s Agenda 2063.

Typical, he is always looking into the distant future, chasing a mirage; he will not talk about the present of the historic past because he knows they all point to a totally, totally different future to Africa’s cuckoo land Agenda 2063!

By ignoring the present and the past Africa is failing to learn from the past and so is making the same foolish mistakes over and over again. Problems that should be nipped in the bud are allowed to grown out of proportion.

For example, Zimbabwe has swept corruption under the carpet for decades and now it has become so rampant, it is overwhelming the nation. A recent Auditor General report revealed that only 1% of US$4.5 billion in cash and material donated to the Cyclone Ida relief was put to good use the rest was looted or wasted. The country’s future is grime, given such criminal waste of human and material resources.

Many independent African countries now look at the colonial years with begrudging nostalgia as the country’s golden age. It is a damning testimonial of independent Africa’s failure to govern ourselves.

Africa is being dragged back into the dark-ages not by Africans leaders who inflated ego and overarching inferiority complex will not allow them to admit they are fallible and are therefore subject to democratic scrutiny and accountability. They will not allow regime change because, to them, that is tantamount to “looking down upon themselves”!

The day Zimbabwe is able to hold free, fair and credible elections will be the greatest day in the country’s history because it will mark the day the country has finally emerged from the dark of corruption and tyranny into the light of freedom and democracy. That will be a quantum leap and one Zanu PF is hell bend on resisting at all cost!- SOURCE: zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

Mutsvangwa: Youths Joining ZANU PF As Mnangagwa’s Economy Is Improving People’s Lives.

Christopher Mutsvangwa

By Dorrothy Moyo | The Presidential Advisor Christopher Mutsvangwa has said youths are lining up to join his Zanu-PF, due to economic policies the party has put in place and resulted in improved lives for the people.

He was addressing a Provincial Coordination Committee meeting in Masvingo when he said Emmerson Mnangagwa has brought hope to the people and the period of non-governmental organisation meddling in the politics of the country was drawing to an end.

“I urge you to continue mobilising the youths that they love the party, it was difficult for them to love the party before when the economy was being run badly but now with President Mnangagwa the youths now have hope, that’s why you see them asking for the (party) cards.

“Continue mobilising the youths because you now have tangible evidence that will make them have confidence in where we are going as a county. The era of NGOs in Zimbabwean politics is coming to a close because the President has shown he can do better things to the economy. There is no more role for the wayward NGOs in the politics of Zimbabwe,” he said.

Amb Mutsvangwa said the President was unifying the nation and they are confident about the direction in which is the country is going. – Additional Reporting State Media.

Chinamasa Diaspora Vote Remarks Frivolous

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance South Africa Province has declared that Zanu PF has no right to block the diaspora vote.

This follows Zanu PF official Patrick Chinamasa’s declaration that Zimbabweans in the will not be able to vote until sanctions have been removed.

Read the MDC Alliance South Africa statement below:

DIASPORA VOTE IS OUR RIGHT – MDC-A SOUTH AFRICA PROVINCE

As MDCA South Africa Province we feel Zanu pf’s position on diaspora vote as spelt out by Patrick Chinamasa can not go unchallenged.

His utterances are mischievous, frivolous, barbaric, uncalled for and misinformed.

Zanu pf cannot deny Zimbabweans in the Diaspora the democratic right to vote on cooked up allegations.

It is every Zimbabwean’s right to vote as enrished in the Zimbabwean constitution. If Mr Chinamasa,Mr Chiwenga or Mr Mnangagwa are under travel bans(sanctions) they are not Zimbabwe and they do not represent the country.

The sanctions gaffe is a myth.Zimbabwe as a country is enjoying international trade and most of her goods are imported.

Let Zimbabweans exercise and enjoy their rights, one of these is the right to vote. The only sanctions that Zimbabwe is under are those imposed on them by the Zanu PF regime. These include, human rights abuse, plundering of state resources, rigging of elections. And we demand Harare to stop these forthwith.

Zanu pf has active political structures in Britain, USA ,Canada and South Africa. It is not banned from carrying out its campaigns in these countries. So, zanu pf’s excuse for not extending voting rights to citizens in the diaspora is unacceptable and comes across political skulduggery.

Less than 100 zanu pf leaders and their military enforcers are under targeted economic sanctions. Several zanu pf leaders can travel unhindered to any of the countries they claim to have imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe. Surely, sanctions do not stop zanu pf from campaigning in these countries.

The majority of Zimbabweans in the diaspora are in South Africa, Tanzania,Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi. These countries have not imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe. Therefore, Mr Patrick ‘Binman’ Chinamasa’s argument for denying Zimbabweans in the SADC region the right to vote is hollow, fallacious, and smacks of outright arrogance, typical of a party scared of being voted out of power.

It is double standards that the zanu pf government admits to receiving millions in US dollars remittances from the Diaspora yet it doesn’t want the same people propping it to have the right to vote. Zanu pf wants diasporans’ money but it doesn’t want to grant them the right to vote.It is the same as wanting honey but doesn’t want bees. That’s undiluted voter disenfranchisement. It is sad that SADC and the AU do not chide zanu pf for such undemocratic practices.

Zimbabwe has embassies and consulates in the EU, Britain and the USA which offer passport and I.D. registration services. The same embassies and consulates must be used for voter registration and voting purposes too by the Zimbabwean diaspora.

As MDC-A SA, we call on the Harare regime to put people first before pursuing power retention schemes.Zanu PF should not impose voting sanctions on Zimbabweans in the diaspora. Its ruinous economic and economic policies drove many into the Diaspora, therefore they should not punish us for being out of the country yet they are the author of our emigration.

Diaspora vote should be granted like yesterday to all Zimbabweans outside the country.

Patrick Chinamasa

Chinamasa Did Put The Army On The Spotlight

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Social media and the some areas of the press were abuzz with the news that Chinamasa the acting ZANU PF national Commissair had erred in his press statement when he said the army is to assist the government and that there is a mutual understanding of the army and the ruling party. Many reporters reported that

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ruling Zanu PF party yesterday said it would continue banking on the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) for political survival because the two are tied together by the liberation struggle.” This was from the Newsday.
Zanu PF acting political commissar Patrick Chinamasa was reported to have told journalists at a Press conference in Harare on the 24th June 2021 that the army was duty-bound to protect the country’s sovereignty and that there was an unbreakable continuity between the ruling party and its military wings during the liberation struggle.
The liberation wings, Zanla and Zipra, Chinamasa said, remain at the heart of the ZNA.

“Always be mindful that there is this unbreakable continuity between the liberation struggle and Zanu PF, between the armies of liberation Zipra and Zanla and the national army of independence,” he said.
“Any notion which seeks to break this bond should be rejected outright.”

“It speaks for itself who are the commanders of the army, who is the CDF [Commander Defence Forces], Cde Valerio Sibanda. Who was he? He was a leading general in Zipra. Who is the commander of the national army, Cde Edzayi Chimonyo? Who was he? He was a leading commander in Zanla. That culture of defending the sovereignty of this country will continue,” he said.
The outcry heralded by the press and social media is knee shaking. It is a situation where they have missed the point. The story of throwing away the bath water and the child.

The utterance of Cde Patrick Chinamasa have nothing wrong in themselves. It is the sexing of the truth by the opposition members and by Dr Garafa which was meant to magnify and misrepresent the truth.

It is very true that that the army is there to protect the sovereignty of the nation. It is there to protect the nation and the national interest.
In trying to please his handlers and bolted his asylum claim the fugitive from the Law Dr Godfrey Gandawa said on Twitter
“The question that arises is how Zimbabwe can escape from this criminal vice grip. By admitting that Zanu PF, a political party, is in fact working with the army, Chinamasa has confirmed that political contestation is meaningless as the army is the guarantor of power.”
This shows the confusion Gandawa and those backing him are swimming in.
It should be noted that the army is part of the government and the army is sworn to defend the the nation and safeguard its sovereignty.
It is true that Zimbabwe’s armed forces belong to the country’s ruling party and must prevent a regime change revolution” from overtaking the nation.
The armed forces must serve the nation and its leader Emmerson Mnangagwa because he cares for and leads them, he is the Commander in Chief.
“Every soldier is a member of the People’s Army and belongs to zimbabwe and its leader because he is the feeder, caretaker, commander and leader of the army. So trying to separate the army from the government is mischief.
“Any kind of i democratic regime change revolution absolutely must not happen.
Military policy is used to ensures the retention of independence in national development and the alleviation of hardships imposed from hostile and aggressive external actors. The Defence Ministry or minister is the primary decision-maker for the national military policy. The army is the part of a country’s military that fights on the ground. People in the army are called soldiers. … Soldiers do many things, from shooting enemies, to digging defensive trenches. They are used to defend their country, or attack another country’s army.
It should be understood that because the armed forces are paid through the national coffers, they must serve the nation.Zimbabwean armed forces and police forces belong to the nation and have duty to protect national sovereignty.
They do so without any apology.
There is always a call for military loyalty to the government and its leaders.
“If the opposition cannot get anything that benefits them, they claim this is not a democracy. If we cannot control democracy, it will become anarchy, Chinamasa was very right when he says the army is meant to protect the sovereignty. It is pervasive that some people find it offensive that Chinamasa simply states the truth.
An attempt by the opposition to create a bar between army and its government is obscenity and it must be known that this attempt is putting society in turmoil,” but that the armed forces “will absolutely protect the legal government.
The armed forces should remain vigilant against regime change proponents and show loyalty to the government and the party which controls the government.

Despite public criticism over strong ties between the ruling party and its military, the nation remains resolute behind the army.
We must realise that there is a changing dynamics of relations between ZANU PF and the Army. While the army remains politically loyal to the ruling party, there is evidence of important changes in the institutional relationship between the two institutions. The party- army relationship is no longer as intertwined and symbiotic as it has historically been; rather, there is evidence of a ‘bifurcation’ between the two. The catalysts for this change have been the professionalization and relative depoliticization of the military, as well as the leadership transition in the ruling party. These changes raise important and central issues for the future of Zimbabwe’s politics.

As the ruling Party has had to adapt to changes in Zimbabwean society during the post independence period it has also had to adjust and renegotiate its relationship with other key organs of state power.Among these has been the party’s relationship with the Army. Yet the renegotiated relationship has occurred not just between party and army, but also between both and a third party: the state.

It should mentioned that the Role of the Military in a Democracy is an ever-relevant concern which was already raised by Plato 2500 years.

The principle of political control of armed forces as we know it today is rooted in the concept of a representative democracy. It refers to the supremacy of civilian institutions, based on popular sovereignty, over the de-fense and security policy-making apparatus, including the military leadership.
Democratic control should always be a two-way process between armed forces and society. In a democracy, firm constitutional guarantees should protect the state – including the armed forces – from two types of potential dangers: from politicians, who have military ambitions, and from military with political ambitions.

There is no common model of how to establish armed forces in a democratic society and how to exercise control over the military. There is, however, a number of shared principles. They include indispensable prerequisites to organize and to guarantee a proper civilian direction and control of armed forces.
In Zimbabwe we have the existence of a clear legal and constitutional framework, defining the basic relationship between the state and the armed force. Chinamasa is a lawyer and a former minister of Justice he is aware of a significant role of parliament in legislating on defense and security matters, in influencing the formulation of national strategy, in contributing transparency to decisions concerning defense and security policy, in giving budget approval and in controlling spending using “the power of administration in issues related to “the power of the sword”
Cde Chinamasa is aware of the hierarchical responsibility of the military to the government through a civilian organ of public administration – a ministry of defense that is charged, as a general rule, with the direction and supervision of its activity. In this way it is naive of the opposition to think that Chinamasa is talking of political reliance on the army. The army has never and will never campaign for ZANU PF.

Zimbabwe runs the presence of a well trained and experienced military corps that is respected and funded by a civilian authority. It acknowledges the principle of civilian control, including the principle of political neutrality and non-partisanship of the armed forces. This does not mean the army has no force on the protection of our independence. Chinamasa has led and is alive to the existence of a developed civil society, with a clear understanding of democratic institutions and values, and, as a part of the political culture, a nationwide consensus on the role and mission of their military.
Zimbabwe presents a solid and comprehensive yardstick for the measurement of armed forces in a democracy and their political control, which allows us to turn from theoretical considerations to reality.
Those crying foul must know that the army in Zimbabwe
defend their own country and participate in the collective defense of the nation and its allies. They provide humanitarian aid as they did in Chimanimani. They perform search and rescue missions as they did during the floods.
They provide assistance in disasters. They provide assistance in accidents.
They participate in maintaining public order, with and without arms, by providing administrative assistance
performing protective functions
assisting the police in emergencies
To avoid any misunderstanding – in the latter case, armed forces are the ultima ratio when police force are not able to handle the situation in a common effort.
The Constitution explicitly prohibits any action, which could disturb the peaceful togetherness of nations or which supports the preparation of any aggression. Worth mentioning is also that the rules of the International Law predominate over the Basic Law. This results in specific responsibilities and obligations for the government, the citizens and especially the soldiers.
In summary, the roles and missions of the Armed Forces are clearly defined and put into a comprehensive legal framework. The integration of the military into state and society also follows strict rules and is covered by a far-reaching set of checks and balances.
According to the Constitution, the “Armed Forces” is embedded in the system of the separation of powers. As part of the executive, the Armed Forces are bound by law and justice, and the protection of the basic human rights.
So the attempt to vilify the army and demonise cde Chinamasa is unpardonable.
Chinamasa has said exactly what has to be said. Within the framework of the executive function of the state, the Armed Forces is subordinate to political leadership which is responsible to parliament and which is part of the Government as an organ of the state.
Our army is an outfit in a democratic pan. Like any other executive function of the state, they are subject to parliamentary control. So Chinamasa does not need to be taught that by Gandawa and the opposition.
Cde Chinamasa as a former minister of justice is aware that Like any other function of the state, they are subject to judicial control.
So the screams which are heard in the atmosphere are only meant to please the engineers and sponsors of the regime change. ZANU PF still respects the army and it can never alienate itself from the army.
One thing we must understand is that the people are ZANU PF ZANU PF is the people and the army belongs to the people and the people are ZANU PF simple. [email protected]

About COVID-19 Vaccines

ZACC Arrests 103 People

Loice-Matanda-Moyo

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) has arrested 103 people for corruption, it has emerged.

The revelations were made by Zacc’s chairperson, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo who praised whistle-blowers who she said played a big part in the arrest of 103 corruption accused persons in the past six months.

In a statement to commemorate World Whistleblowers Day last Thursday, the Zacc boss said clamping down on corruption in the country was going to be a tough proposition without the input of whistle-blowers.

“Zacc has managed to make 103 arrests for corruption in 2021 alone. Seventy-nine (79) dockets from these arrests have already been submitted to the National Prosecuting Authority for prosecution. Without the whistle-blowers, Zacc would not have achieved these figures,” she said.

The Zacc chairperson however, bemoaned the inexistence of legislation to protect whistle-blowers, revealing that they were being harassed after coming forward with vital information exposing corruption.

“As the world commemorates this important day, Zacc urges policymakers to expedite the enactment of the whistle-blowers’ legislation. Already, Zacc has received reports of victimisation of whistle-blowers that are vital to the nation’s fight against corruption.

“The Commission is advocating for the necessary policy and legal environment that fully protects whistle-blowers.

Part of these efforts include drafting a Lay Bill which has been submitted to the Attorney General’s Office. We are fully confident that this piece of legislation will be enacted into law sooner rather than later,” said Justice Matanda-Moyo.

She revealed that the anti-graft body has since come up with an online whistle-blower reporting application to ensure that whistle-blowers can report corruption.

“The application is designed to ensure full anonymity of the whistle-blowers. This year alone, the Commission has received 88 anonymous reports on corrupt activities via this platform. To the whistle-blowers, always remember that speaking up against corruption is crucial for a just world,” said Justice Matanda-Moyo. -Sunday Mail

Tribute To Misheck Marimo Chidzambwa

By Japhet Short Cat Mparutsa

Death comes to rob us of our joy but we should always cherish the good times too.

I am devasted by the death of Legend Misheck Marimo, Mukoma “Scania”.

I played with Misheck for close to years, first for Dynamos and in the National Team. He was my captain and the last line of defence before any striker would take a shot.

We had good moments when he bailed me out but there were akward moments as well. Like the match in Senegal when Bocande terrorised us. I also remember the “bullet” own goal he scored against me when we played against Jet of Algeria. I have never seen such a shot..

Yes we were in the trenches together, the up and downs, we stuck together. I strongly feel that anyone who played for the National Team for such a long time deserves a small pension. For Misheck it was never to be but it is never too late to think about these things.

We also need a Hall Of Fame a matter of urgency. Let us honour our legends while they are still alive. Misheck deserved this honour.

1.Captained Zimbabwe Warriors to maiden trophy.. The Cecafa Trophy in 1985.

  1. Won the first Cosafa Trophy for the Nation in 2000 as a coach.

This is rich history and it must be cherished. Zifa must lead the way.

Misheck served and like others that have served, he deserves his recognition.

As we celebrate his life, let us share our memories of the Big Man.

Go well Legend Misheck Marimo (Chidzambwa), memories are for ever cherished!!

Stay Blessed.
