WELL, isn’t that strange that a woman assaults her husband while accusing him of being weak and failing to impregnate her.
Wonder no more, because this has happened after a man from Chademana Village in Zaka area, Masvingo province sued his in-laws demanding back his lobola claiming his wife was savagely beating him up over his inability to impregnate her.
Reports gathered by B-Metro are that Jethro Mundanga had been constantly assaulted by his wife Kudzai Mabhiza to an extent that he moved out of their matrimonial home to stay with his relatives.
The two, Mundanga and Mabhiza had been customarily married for 10 years and their marriage had not been blessed with a child, leading the latter to suspect that it was her husband who had a problem since she had a child from her previous marriage.
It was also gathered that the relatives tried to intervene in the matter to no avail.
The situation became worse when Mabhiza started bashing her husband each time they picked up a quarrel.
According to a source, Mundanga, who apparently felt his wife had lowered his dignity and could no longer live with her, approached Chief Ndanga’s traditional court where he narrated his sad love story while demanding that his lobola should be returned.
“He approached Chief Ndanga’s traditional court demanding that his in-laws should pay back his money and two beasts because his wife had turned him into a laughing stock by constantly assaulting him in front of neighbours and relatives while accusing him of being weak because he was unable to give her children.
“She was always shouting obscenities at him, something that makes Mundanga feel not good enough for her. At one time she even forcibly removed his pair of trousers after he came home drunk and in the process she was shouting at him saying he was wasting his energy on beer,” the source said.
Added the source: “That was actually very sad such that Mundanga moved out of the house to stay with a relative and later approached Chief Ndanga’s traditional court demanding that his in-laws should refund him his lobola since their daughter was always deriding him saying he was not man enough.”
Chief Ndanga could neither confirm nor deny the incident.
“There is nothing I can say at the moment and I will be at liberty to comment on the matter once I preside over it.
“This is because at the moment there are a lot of cases which accrued because of Covid-19 regulations which were prohibiting people from gathering and moving from one place to another,” said Chief Ndanga.- B- Metro

You may think nutrient deficiencies are a thing of the past, experienced only by sailors on long sea voyages. But even today, it’s possible to lack some of the essential nutrients your body needs to function optimally.
“Nutrient deficiencies alter bodily functions and processes at the most basic cellular level,” says Tricia L. Psota, PhD, RDN, a lecturer in the exercise and nutrition sciences department at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health in Washington, DC. “These processes include water balance, enzyme function, nerve signaling, digestion, and metabolism. Resolving these deficiencies is important for optimal growth, development, and function.”
Nutrient deficiencies can also lead to diseases. “For example, calcium and vitamin D deficiencies can cause osteopenia or osteoporosis, two conditions marked by brittle bones,” says Kate Patton, RD, a dietitian at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. “And inadequate iron can cause anemia, which zaps your energy.”
Telltale symptoms are usually the first clue that you are low in one or more important vitamins or minerals, says Patton. Here’s how to recognize seven common nutrient deficiencies.
Calcium: Numb, Tingling Fingers and Abnormal Heart Rhythm Calcium is important for maintaining strong bones and controlling muscle and nerve function, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Signs of severely low calcium include numb, tingling fingers and abnormal heart rhythms, says the Cleveland Clinic. That said, there are no short-term, obvious symptoms of calcium deficiency.
Most adults need 1,000 milligrams (mg) of calcium each day, though women over 50 and men over 70 need 1,200 mg, per the Mayo Clinic. Patton says you’ll likely get enough from at least three servings of milk or yogurt a day. Cheese is another good source of calcium, but if you’re not big on dairy, you can find this nutrient in calcium-fortified orange juice or breakfast cereal (check the nutrition facts label of the food to see if calcium has been added), and dark leafy greens like kale and broccoli, according to the NIH.

Vitamin D: Fatigue, Bone Pain, Mood Shifts, and More This vitamin is another that’s crucial for bone health and may also prevent some cancers, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency can be vague — fatigue, bone pain, mood changes, and muscle aches or weakness may set in.
“If it goes on long term, a vitamin D deficiency can lead to softening of the bones,” Psota says. Long-lasting deficiency also may be linked with cancers and autoimmune diseases, says Michelle Zive, an NASM-certified nutrition coach based in San Diego.
According to the NIH, most adults need 15 micrograms (mcg) of vitamin D each day, and adults older than 70 need 20 mcg. Patton suggests having three servings of fortified milk or yogurt daily and eating fatty fish, such as salmon or tuna, twice a week, as these are foods that contain vitamin D; spend some time outside in the sunshine every day, too, as this is a great source of the nutrient. Ten to 30 minutes a few times a week of direct sunlight exposure should help, Zive says.
Potassium: Muscle Weakness, Constipation, Irregular Heart Rhythm, and More Potassium helps your heart, nerves, and muscles work properly and also delivers nutrients to cells while removing waste, according to MedlinePlus. Plus, it’s a useful nutrient that helps offset sodium’s negative impact on your blood pressure: “It’s important in maintaining a healthy blood pressure,” Zive says.
You could become low in potassium in the short term because of diarrhea or vomiting; excessive sweating; antibiotics, laxatives, or diuretics; excessive alcohol consumption; or because of a chronic condition such as kidney disease, per the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms of a deficiency include muscle weakness, twitches, or cramps; constipation; tingling and numbness; and an abnormal heart rhythm or palpitations, says MedlinePlus.
For natural potassium sources, try bananas, milk, acorn squash, lentils, and kidney beans and other legumes. Adult men need 3,400 mg each day, and women need 2,600 mg, according to the NIH.
Iron: Fatigue, Shortness of Breath, Cold Hands and Feet, Brittle Nails, and More Iron is necessary to produce red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body, according to the University of California in San Francisco. When iron levels get too low, there may be a deficiency in red blood cells, resulting in a condition called anemia. Some groups at increased risk of iron deficiency include menstruating women, growing individuals (such as children and pregnant women), and those following a vegan or vegetarian diet, Zive says.
Anemia can leave you with symptoms including weakness and fatigue, shortness of breath, a fast heartbeat, pale skin, headache, cold hands and feet, a sore or swollen tongue, brittle nails, and cravings for strange things like dirt, according to the Mayo Clinic. The symptoms may be so mild at first that you don’t notice something’s wrong, but as iron stores become more depleted, they will become more intense.
To boost iron levels, Patton recommends eating iron-fortified cereal, beef, oysters, beans (especially lima, navy, and kidney beans), lentils, and spinach. Adult men and women over 50 need 8 mg per day, and adult women younger than 50 need 18 mg each day, according to the NIH.
Vitamin B12: Numbness, Fatigue, Swollen Tongue, and More Vitamin B12 aids the production of red blood cells and DNA, and also improves neurotransmitter function, according to the NIH. Vegetarians and vegans may be at particular risk for vitamin B12 deficiency because plants don’t make the nutrient, and people who’ve had weight loss surgery may also lack B12 because the procedure makes it difficult for the body to extract the nutrient from food, according to Harvard Health Publishing.
Symptoms of severe B12 deficiency include numbness in the legs, hands, or feet; problems with walking and balance; anemia; fatigue; weakness; a swollen, inflamed tongue; memory loss and difficulty thinking, per Harvard Health Publishing. These symptoms can come on quickly or gradually, and since there’s such a wide range in symptoms, you may not notice them for a while.
Adults need 2.4 mcg of B12 per day, according to the NIH. It’s most commonly found in animal products, and Patton recommends fish, chicken, milk, and yogurt to boost your B12 levels. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, Zive suggests opting for foods fortified with B12, such as plant-based milk and breakfast cereals. You can also find B12 in most multivitamins, according to the NIH, but if you’re at risk of being deficient, you can take a supplement specifically containing B12.

A LUPANE man beat his friend to death following an argument on who was older between the two, a court heard.
Levison Luphahla (32) of Geleza village was incensed by Khumbulani Tshuma (30)’s insistence that he was older and went berserk.
He viciously attacked Tshuma, from neighbouring Mangevula village, in Jotsholo under Chief Mabhikwa with a log, killing him on the spot.
Luphahla pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to a lesser charge of culpable homicide when he appeared before Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese who is on circuit in Hwange.
The judge sentenced him to four years in prison.
Justice Makonese said while Luphahla was intoxicated when he committed the crime, he had used excessive force causing the death of Tshuma.
Luphahla, who was represented by Ms Linda Mthombeni of Dube, Nkala and Company, will however serve an effective three years after one year was suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The two had been drinking homemade beer at Mrs Mainah Ncube’s homestead where villagers had been gathered to help harvest sorghum.
Other villagers left for their homesteads at sunset leaving the two drinking after which a misunderstanding arose around 8:30pm.
Tshuma picked two wooden stools and threw them at Luphahla one after the other hitting him on the face before he fled from the scene.
Luphahla gave chase and caught up with his friend who he hit several times with a log causing his death in a nearby maize field.
Prosecuting, Mrs Martha Cheda said Luphahla told Mrs Ncube in the morning that he had killed his friend.
“On the 31st day of May 2020 at around 8:30PM Luphahla and the now deceased were drinking beer when a misunderstanding arose between them on who was older than the other,” said Mrs Cheda.
Tshuma was found dead the following morning.
Mrs Ncube informed the village head about the matter and a report was made to the police leading to Luphahla’s arrest.- Chronicle
By James Gwati-Harare East legislator, Tendai Biti has been expelled from parliament at a time the former Finance minister through the parliament portfolio committee is probing a corruption case involving President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s top ally, Kuda Tagwirei.
Biti chairs the parliament’s public accounts committee which is probing allegations of serious corruption at Zesa after Sakunda Holdings was awarded a US$250 million tender to build a failed diesel power plant in Dema despite not placing a bid.
Sakunda Holdings, which is owned by Kudakwashe Tagwirei, an ally of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The Dema tender was initially won by an American company, but was later cancelled without explanation and handed to Sakunda.

Biti together with a number of his compatriots was yesterday recalled from parliament by their People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on allegations of no longer representing the interests of the little known political grouping.
Mliswa soon after Biti’s expulsion from parliament said the recalling of Biti and company was a sad development for him.
He said to him, the National Assembly was losing brilliant minds at the expense of what he called politricks.
Mliswa said as Public Accounts Committee Chair, Tendai Biti was extremely proficient.
“ Having been a former Minister of Finance, he was very knowledgeable. He was meticulous in his reports; it’ll be hard to fill the gap,” said Mliswa. He also bemoaned the recalling of Kucaca Phulu saying with him gone, the Legal & Parliamentary Committee had lost an integral player. “All the MPs lost yesterday were vibrant members who contributed immensely to Parly. If you follow the Hansard, they spoke with knowledge & detail & were diligent in their execution,” he added. “I see this all the time, and I’m hoping come 2023, people will be wise enough, lessons must be learnt,” he said.

The arts associations under the banner All-Music Associations and Arts Promoters in Zimbabwe said they want to meet the head of state and make him appreciate the sufferings they are enduring as a result of the continued ban on live performances.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak in March last year, physical gatherings for live concerts have remained banned as part of a raft of measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus and as a result, most artists are struggling to survive.

Magufuli died while receiving treatment in Dar Es Salaam. He was aged 61.
The Tanzanian President died after disappearing from the public for almost three weeks.
In a televised address last night, that country’s deputy President Samia SuluhuHassan said President Magufuli had died of heart complications.
She said President Magufuli was hospitalised on March 6 at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute.
The BBC Thursday announced that Tanzania had declared two weeks of mourning as arrangements for the burial are made and during this period, all flags in Tanzania will fly at half-mast.

Belgian top-flight clubs have voted to support the idea to merge their league with the Netherlands and form the BeNeLeague.
All the eighteen clubs in the Belgium Pro League unanimously agreed to the proposal, reviving an idea first floated two years ago.
The details and format have already been discussed, but a formal proposal is yet to be unveiled.
A statement by the Belgian league on Tuesday read: “This ambition is based both on respect for the sporting aspirations of the big clubs and on the need for the economic stability of the other professional clubs.
“The 25 clubs are unanimous in their desire to give the Beneleague a fair chance.”
The Belgium top-flight is home to Warriors captain Knowledge Musona who plays for KAS Eupen.

The Premier Soccer League has announced that it has accepted the conditions set by the Sports and Recreation Commission for the safe return of football league in the county.
A statement by the PSL reads: “The Premier Soccer League accepts the conditions and operating procedures set by the Sports and Recreation Commission in light of the return of football.
“The League is currently in the process of engaging key stakeholders to discuss steps to be taken to meet the set conditions for the safe and appropriate return of football.
“The process will involve Covid-19 testing, pre-season training, registration of players and inspection and sanitization of stadia before the commencement of competitions.
“The League’s priority is the health and safety of the nation including the players, coaches, club staff and supporters and will ensure that all the necessary safety precautions are taken.”
The league was last played in 2019 before the pandemic halted the commencement of the 2020 season.
Efforts to get it underway after the end of the first lockdown hit a snag due to financial challenges.

The Warriors technical’s hopes of securing the services of France-based pair of Tinotenda Kadewere and Marshall Munetsi for the next Afcon Qualifiers have hit a snag as the two players will not be allowed to travel to Africa due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The development follows after Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs voted unanimously to block African players from leaving the EU over the coming international break.
Zimbabwe had looked at Kadewere and Munetsi as among the key stars in the squad after several Europe-based players pulled out because of similar reason.
A statement by the football governing body in France, LFP, reads: “… The clubs of Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT have decided to apply the FIFA circular of February 5, 2021 taking into account the travel restrictions in the world.
“In this context, the clubs will not release foreign players summoned for matches outside the EU / EEA zone during the next international period in March.”
The national team was trying to engaged Kadewere and Munetsi’s respective clubs – Lyon and Stade de Reims – but the latest decision will force coach Zdravko Logarusic to go for option B.

By James Gwati- Police Chief, Godwin Matanga has responded to police brutality complaints which are being daily raised by the public and warned his officers to behave in a professional manner.
There are complaints against police from the public that the cops have not only become corrupt, but also cruel and brutal to the citizens they have a constitutional mandate to protect.
In Harare and other cities, police have become inhuman and are extorting citizens more than what criminals do.
Matanga who was addressing 40 officers who recently returned from United Nations Peacekeeping Mission duties in Abyei and Darfur, in the capital, Thursday, said police service needed loyal and dedicated officers who put their country and people first.
He challenged his colleagues to perform their duties diligently, with a high level of professionalism, warning them to shun any form of behaviour that might bring the force and the country into disrepute.

Commenting on the death of Tanzanian President, John Pombe Magufuli, Hon Sikhala said:

By Honest Makanyire|Child Registry has donated roofing material to Machokoto Secondary School in Masvingo Province as part of efforts to augment the education system in the country.
The roof was destroyed by hailstorm.Child Registry will also refurbish the school blocks and toilets.
Child Registry, in consultation with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, will carry out programmes to assist schools across the country in various capacities.
“We are going to replicate the idea of helping schools across the whole country through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary education.
Child Registry will procure laptops for the school -which are going to be used by students,” Child Registry said in a statement.

By James Gwati- Zanu PF has intensified its clampdown on the opposition-controlled cities and has engineered the arrest of the Gweru City Council director of housing and community services Mr Shingirayi Tigere
According to the state media, Tigere was arrested last night on allegations of criminal abuse of office involving the sale of a single stand to the city Mayor Josiah Makombe. He was arrested by police working with the Special Anti Corruption Commission (Sacco) at his home around 7pm yesterday.
Tigere’s lawyer, Mr Esau Mandipa of Mutatu and Mandipa Legal Practice, however, confirmed the arrest. “I can confirm that my client was arrested last night by the police in connection with a stand that he allegedly sold to Mayor Josiah Makombe. They alleged that he didn’t follow some procedure,” he said.
Two former MDC members Obert Gutu and James Makore have spoken on their decision to join the ruling Zanu PF saying they are not after positions but working for the development of the coountry.
Speaking at State House when they were being welcomed by Zanu PF leadership including Emmerson Mnangagwa, Constantino Chiwenga and Oppah Muchinguri, Guti said;
“We feel we are here to contribute to the development of the country. Speaking entirely for myself, I am not position-oriented. I know some people will say Gutu wants this post or that post, that’s far from it.
“We are here to play our part albeit a small part for the development of this country and the Vision which the Second Republic has fashioned for this country, Vision 2030 which is achievable with the right mindset and skills set,” he said.
Senator Makore echoed similar sentiments saying he had returned home.
“We do feel we have to contribute to the economy, we can’t consistently fight without producing any tangible result for the economy and by and large we can be a cog in national development,” he said.
Cde Gutu once served as Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs during the inclusive Government (2009-2013).
He assumed the vice presidency of the MDC-T following the split that occurred when Mr Morgan Tsvangirai died, deputising the MDC-T then led by Ms Thokozani Khupe.
By A Correspondent- Former Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Energy Mutodi, has described Tanzanian president John Magufuli’s death as God’s way of proving that he was right when he mocked Tanzania’s approach to COVID-19.
Mutodi tweeted on Thursday after it had been announced Wednesday that Magufuli had died of a heart complication in Dar es Salam. Some reports claimed Magufuli had contracted the coronavirus. Commenting on Magufuli’s death, Mutodi said:
The Lord Almighty has vindicated His servant in the death of Tanzanian President John Pombe Magafuli. Where there was rejection and rebuke, He has provided reparation.
The former Rhumba musician had earlier mocked Magufuli for his approach to coronavirus after the late leader had declared Tanzania a COVID-19-free zone saying it was defeated by prayer.
He tweeted back then:
His Excellency John Pombe Magafuli’s Tanzania now has 630 COVID-19 cases with prayers but without a lockdown while His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa’s Zimbabwe only got 31 cases with lockdown and masks. An insight into how managers can be game-changers.
Then minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the late Dr Sibusiso Moyo was forced to intervene saying Mutodi’s remarks were not reflective of the views held by Zimbabwe as a nation but by Mutodi as an individual.
Following the recent tweet, the ruling ZANU PF described Mutodi’s behaviour as childish. Responding to the tweet, the ruling party said:

Mutodi was last year fired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa following a chain of reckless behaviour that created tensions among government officials and between Zimbabwe and neighbouring countries.
Some reports suggest that Mutodi was fired at Sibusiso Moyo’s behest. It is alleged that Moyo had threatened to resign if Mutodi who was making his diplomatic role tough had not been sacked.
A Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) top official, Major Sybert Muradzikwa yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Isheunesu Matova after he allegedly conned a Harare woman of US$5 000 in a deal to clean soiled bank notes.
Muradzikwa was remanded to April 5 on $5 000 bail.
It is alleged that in January this year, Muradzikwa and his accomplices, who are still at large, misrepresented to the complainant, Lyn Mavhunga, that they wanted to engage her on a business venture to clean old notes using a liquid chemical.
Mavhunga allegedly released US$5 000 to purchase the liquid, before Muradzikwa requested for more money. Complainant turned down the request and reported him to police.
Upon arrest, Muradzikwa was found in possession of the bag containing the alleged soiled bank notes.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old Harare man allegedly shot a State witness who testified against him in a 2018 case.
Ronias Mutaki was arrested and appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi yesterday facing attempted murder charges. The magistrate will deliver his ruling on the matter today.
The complainant in the matter is a gardener in Mutaki’s neighbourhood in Avondale.-Newsday
PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has expressed his condolences on the passing on of Tanzanian President John Magufuli.
In a statement on Twitter, the President said “My deepest condolences to the family of His Excellency President John Magufuli and the people of Tanzania. Africa mourns with you. May his soul rest in peace”.
The death of Cde Magufuli was announced by the country’s Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Wednesday.
She said he died from the heart disease that had plagued him for a decade.
Gweru City Council director of housing and community services Mr Shingirayi Tigere was arrested last night on allegations of criminal abuse of office involving the sale of a stand to the city Mayor Josiah Makombe.

By A Correspondent| Former Deputy Information minister Energy Mutodi says Tanzanian President John Magufuli’s death has vindicated him after he was condemned for pointing out that the East African country’s poor handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mutodi was condemned after he posted on Twitter suggesting that Magufuli had made a blunder by keeping churches in Tanzania open as that had resulted in the rise of coronavirus cases.
The government through the Foreign Affairs ministry distanced itself from Mutodi’s remarks saying his views did not reflect the position of Zimbabwe.
With Magufuli dead now, Mutodi says God vindicated him as he was rejected and rebuked after pointing out the East African giant’s big mistake in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Lord Almighty has vindicated His servant in the death of Tanzanian President John Pombe Magafuli. Where there was rejection and rebuke, He has provided reparation,” said Mutodi.
Magufuli shocked the rest of the world after he declared victory over the COVID-19 pandemic while stopping the publication of statistics.
He never introduced lockdowns and allowed sporting activities to go on, a move many felt was wreckless considering the deadliness of COVID-19.

This appeal was made by a seasoned music promoter, Wanisai Mutandwa, popularly known in the arts industry as Mhamha Mahwindo through her social media platforms.
“Varume vese ivavo vane mhuri dzinoda chikafu, vane vana varikuda kuenda kuzvikoro but vanovapei kana vakagara? Pavhurwa maRestaurants ngapaiswewo allowance yemagitare varidzirewo vanhu chero vashoma. Muimbi ane nzara vachapedzisira vatizwa nevakadzi nenzara”, writes music promoter Mhamha Mahwindo on her social media platforms.
Mahwindo said once the government give musicians green-light to resume public performances, the industry will comply with the WHO COVID-19 guidelines and maintain the maximum numbers of people allowed to attend any public gathering.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) last week arrested suspended Zesa southern region manager King Dube on allegations of using one of the power utility’s employees as his domestic worker, thus prejudicing the company of over US$17 000.
Dube, who was suspended on allegations of engaging in underhand dealings together with eight other senior Zesa officials from the region, yesterday appeared before Gweru magistrate Edwin Marecha facing criminal abuse of office charges.
He was remanded to March 29 on $20 000 bail and ordered to surrender his passport, reside at the given address, report three times a week at Gweru Central Police Station and not to interfere with investigations.
The prosecution alleged that from January 2013 to the end of February 2017, Dube allegedly ordered a Zesa employee, Andrew Homa, to work as a domestic worker at his residence in Gweru.
Homa was on the electricity utility’s payroll and Dube assigned him to do domestic duties at his home.
During the said period, Homa received US$17 568 in salaries from Zesa although he was working at Dube’s private home.

Is recalling members of parliament by any chance going to solve or improve the country’s economic, social and political challenges bedevelling the country or its designed to create a Chinese model of politics through weakening the people’s struggle?
I see Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora are struggling to stand on their feet to lure the electorate after they recalled some members of parliament. They are not even getting stronger.
Honestly people are very much aware of the fact that this so called new dispensation under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa has nothing to offer and is just there to decimate the opposition, loot the country’s resources and self enrichment not the improvement of people’s lives.
About 70% of Zimbabweans are living under the poverty datum line and cannot afford even two decent meals per day. They are scrounging from one day to the other and go home with nothing whilst these political bourgeoisie are excelling every day in self preservation.
In that area surely they deserve a place in the Guinness book of world records.
What is the main reason of parading members who have left politics long time ago and have now defected to another party. Will voters take such candidates seriously or get tricked by their political posture and grandstanding.
Its like parading former Dynamos player and coach Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga to play for Highlanders ‘Bosso’ Football ClubSuch a move would be beyond imagination.
Most of these tired politicians who cannot match modern day politics are glory hunters seeking to be re admitted or accommodated into Zanu PF gravy train which is mostly known through looting country’s resources and corruption.
They were denied and rejected by the people and could not access those privileges of parly allowances, laptop and a car. They have now resorted to finding ways to feed themselves together with their spouses.
These opportunists are out, but I just feel bad for the late Morgan Tsvangirai who was surrounded and trusted these political prostitutes dressed in sheep’s skins when they were actually wolves. The likes of Thokozani Khupe, Douglas Mwonzora, Obert Gutu, Tracey Mutinhiri and the forgotten James Makore.
Those rejoining Zanu PF must be applauded for exercising their democratic rights. The cleansing process should not stop but must come as a bonus to MDC-Alliance. The residue must be kept in a safe place.
To be honest and precise these people who are joining Zanu PF are as good as used oil which cannot be put in an engine under a service. They are finished and have lost the viscosity.

Nyanga North MP Chido Sanyatwe (Zanu-PF) has been fingered in a fierce fight over gold mining claims.
The legislator is the wife of Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Tanzania Anselem Sanyatwe, former boss in the Presidential Guard.
Sanyatwe is accused of threatening violence against a fellow Zanu-PF official, Julius Manyuchi, who is part of the Chisero Mining Syndicate.
In a letter dated March 9, 2021 addressed to Zanu-PF Manicaland provincial chairperson Mike Madiro and copied to Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda and the President’s Office in Manicaland, Manyuchi accused Sanyatwe and her colleagues of threatening violence against him and blocking him from accessing his syndicate.
“I was embarrassed and belittled at that rally and several allegations and accusations were levelled against me. I was then ordered to vacate the area and rowdy artisanal miners numbering more than 800 demanded that I do so with immediate effect,” he said referring to a March 6, 2021 meeting addressed by Sanyatwe.
“The Honourable MP (Sanyatwe) then told me to vacate as demanded and he told the people present that if I did not comply, they should simply block my way at Avilla Mission.
I now live in fear of being attacked on the way to my investment.”
Manyuchi said he could not vacate the place after investing “several millions of dollars” at Chisero.
“I am also legally advised that the Honourable MP does not have the power to remove me from the syndicate as I am duly registered at the Ministry of Mines. I am also advised that it is illegal for a Member of Parliament to instigate violence or encourage people to break the law as she did,” he said.
Manyuchi pleaded with the party to act on the matter and allow the law to be followed without the abuse of political power by the MP.
Sanyatwe confirmed seeing the letter yesterday, but accused Manyuchi of abusing over 5 000 artisanal miners in the area.
“He is in conflict with other miners,” she said.
“The other miners came to my office and they are about 5 000 people. They accuse him of fraudulently finding his way into the claims and that he was abusing miners while not following the law. They wanted my intervention as the MP.”
Sanyatwe accused Manyuchi of working against her.
“I was surprised to see him writing to Parliament and others instead of him coming to me. I have to protect my people and the President needs five million votes. All he said were lies,” Sanyatwe said.
By A Correspondent| Recalled Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson Tendai Biti says the MDC Alliance will convene and come up with a collective decision following his recall together with five other former members of the People’s Democratic Party now led by Lucia Matibenga.
In an interview with an online publication, Biti said his recall was a plot by Zanu PF to stop his work in exposing corruption adding that a report on corruption in some of the government owned entities was ready to be tabled before parliament.
“We had those reports ready and my recall is to make sure these issues to do with corruption are not brought before Parliament. We will convene as a party and make sure we come up with a collective decision. Remember, we contested elections not under the PDP, but under the MDC Alliance,” Biti said.
Biti was recalled together with Kucaca Phulu, Settlement Chikwinya, Regai Tsunga and Willias Madzimure.
Their recall followed a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda by the Secretary General of PDP.
PDP participated in the 2018 harmonised elections under Joice Mujuru’s Rainbow Coalition.
A 31-year-old Bulawayo man who allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl has appeared in court. Patrick Mawende yesterday appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Rachel Mukanga facing two counts of rape.
He was remanded in custody to tomorrow.
Mawende pleaded not guilty saying the matter is being fabricated.
The prosecutor, Mr Terence Chakabuda said last week, at a time not known by the State, Mawende raped the minor twice in a kitchen.
The court heard that Mawende offered the complainant US$1 to conceal the vice which she accepted and bought chips.
Mr Chakabuda said on another occasion last week the complainant was cooking in another kitchen used as a storeroom.
“Mawende wrestled the victim to the floor before removing her pants. He had sexual intercourse with her twice without protection,” said Mr Chakabuda.
Universities in the country are next week set to resume face-to-face learning and examinations in a phased approach, adhering to Covid-19 prevention regulations.
Universities stopped face-to-face tuition as Government implemented lockdown to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Amon Murwira said universities have the greenlight to start lessons physically as long as they do four basic things to prevent the spread of the virus.
He said the institutions should ensure that there is social distancing, sanitising, wearing of face masks and regular temperature checks.
‘‘Universities are to open for face-to-face learning under World Health Organisation (Who) guidelines and should open in a phased approach for social distancing purposes. We are not going to compromise the safety of our students. Universities should ensure they put systems in place that guarantee a safe environment for students,’’ said Prof Murwira.
Universities, he said, would open according to their ability and capacity.
National University of Science and Technology (Nust) and Lupane State University (LSU) are set to resume face-to-face lectures and examinations on Monday observing Government’s Covid-19 prevention measures.
Nust director for communication and Marketing Mr Thabani Mpofu said face-to-face learning and examination will resume on Monday in a phased approach to allow social distancing during lectures and examinations.
‘‘The university will resume face-to-face learning and examinations in a phased manner from the 22nd of March 2021. Students have been grouped into four distinct groups to allow for social distancing during lectures and examinations. The examinations will be staggered and will start on the 29th of March 2021 and end on the 21st of May 2021. There will be temperature checking at all points of entry to the University and lecture rooms, hand sanitising, wearing of face masks at all times and enforcement of social distancing,’’ said Mr Mpofu.
LSU marketing and communication director Mr Zwelithini Dlamini said face-to-face lectures will resume on Monday with strict adherence to Covid-19 prevention measures including checking of temperature at entrance, sanitisation of hands, social distancing and wearing of masks.
Mr Dlamini said students are expected to buy their own face masks.
‘‘We will be following the Covid-19 prevention protocols. We will be doing screening, temperature checks and sanitisation. We will also ensure social distancing in the lecture rooms and also in the hostels where each room will accommodate only two students to avoid congestion,’’ said Mr Dlamini.
He said lecture rooms were fumigated and will be continuously disinfected during the course of the semester.

By A Correspondent| Former Deputy Information minister Energy Mutodi says Tanzanian President John Magufuli’s death has vindicated him after he was condemned for pointing out that the East African country’s poor handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mutodi was condemned after he posted on Twitter suggesting that Magufuli had made a blunder by keeping churches in Tanzania open as that had resulted in the rise of coronavirus cases.
The government through the Foreign Affairs ministry distanced itself from Mutodi’s remarks saying his views did not reflect the position of Zimbabwe.
With Magufuli dead now, Mutodi says God vindicated him as he was rejected and rebuked after pointing out the East African giant’s big mistake in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Lord Almighty has vindicated His servant in the death of Tanzanian President John Pombe Magafuli. Where there was rejection and rebuke, He has provided reparation,” said Mutodi.
Magufuli shocked the rest of the world after he declared victory over the COVID-19 pandemic while stopping the publication of statistics.
He never introduced lockdowns and allowed sporting activities to go on, a move many felt was wreckless considering the deadliness of COVID-19.

Tanzania’s Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan Wednesday night announced the death of President Magufuli on the state television.
“The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, the honourable Doctor John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, … (has) died of a heart condition, at hospital Mzena in Dar es Salaam, where he was receiving treatment,” she said on state broadcaster TBC.
Magufuli was last seen on 27 February.

Contentious presidency First elected to the presidency in 2015, Magufuli was serving a second five-year term won in 2020 elections that the opposition and some rights groups said were neither free nor fair. His main opponent in that race, Tundu Lissu, had to relocate to Belgium after the vote, fearing for his safety. Mr. Lissu, who was among the first to raise questions about the whereabouts of Magufuli after he went missing for several days, had been shot 16 times back in 2017, an attack he blamed on government agents because of his criticism of the President.
Magufuli had become so powerful by the start of the COVID-19 outbreak that he could deny the existence of a pandemic without incurring the criticism of his predecessor and other prominent people within Tanzania. In early 2021, amid speculation that Magufuli would seek an unconstitutional third term when his mandate expired in 2025, his ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party was compelled to deny such a thing could happen.
John Pombe Magufuli was born on October 29, 1959, in the rural area of Chato in the country’s northwest. The son of a subsistence farmer, he tended his father’s cattle but was a good student, seeing classroom studies as a way out of poverty. Magufuli earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and chemistry at the University of Dar es Salaam in 1988. Much later, in 2009, he earned a doctorate in chemistry from the same university.
For years he was a secondary school teacher and then a chemist with a farmers’ cooperative union before entering politics as a lawmaker representing Chato in the National Assembly. The legislative role was a springboard to a career in national politics, and he served in several Cabinet positions, notably as the hardworking public works minister nicknamed “the bulldozer” in the administration of predecessor Jakaya Kikwete.
A reputation as an incorruptible man was widely seen as one reason for his selection as the new leader of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, the party that had dominated Tanzania since independence but whose popularity was declining in large part because of allegations of rampant corruption.
In 2015, the newly-elected Magufuli made news on his first day in office. He showed up unannounced in the morning at the Ministry of Finance offices to see how many officials had come to work on time. That week he also banned unnecessary trips by government officials, as an austerity measure. He soon canceled Independence Day celebrations and said the funds budgeted for the event would be used to improve roads and infrastructure in Dar es Salaam, the commercial capital. Magufuli also fired a number of top government officials in his anti-corruption crusade.
At least in the early days of his presidency, Magufuli was seen as the leader Tanzania needed. He was widely admired by Tanzanians but also by others in East Africa who, citing his tough stance against corruption, wished for a leader like him. But very quickly others saw signs of intolerance as Magufuli cracked down on dissenters and those who criticised his work methods.
In early 2016 Magufuli stopped live broadcasts of parliamentary debates in which the opposition criticised the government, and in July that year he banned political rallies.
Magufuli’s harsh rule was extended to the country’s LBGT community, with his government preventing aid agencies from supporting same-sex groups to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Amnesty International criticised several bills supported by Magufuli and passed into laws as designed to “stifle all forms of dissent and effectively clamp down on the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.”
COVID denier But it was Magufuli’s denial of COVID-19 that brought him intense international attention.
Soon after the first case of the disease was confirmed in Tanzania in March 2020, Magufuli urged people to go to churches and mosques to pray. Magufuli, a devout Catholic, pronounced that “coronavirus is a devil … and cannot sit in the body of Christ.” Then in April the country stopped cooperating with the international community regarding its COVID-19 caseload.
Magufuli announced in June that COVID-19 had been eradicated from Tanzania by three days of national prayer. He spoke against social distancing and the wearing of masks and questioned the efficacy of vaccines. He even sent samples from bicycle lubricant, papaya fruit and a quail bird to be tested for the coronavirus in his bid to discredit testing.
“Countries in Africa will be coming here to buy food in the years to come … they will be suffering because of shutting down their economy,” he said of others imposing lockdowns.
Magufuli promoted herbs and exercise as COVID-19 remedies.
However, people leaving Tanzania reported that intensive care units in hospitals were filling up with people with severe respiratory illness. Others said that burials were being held at night to hide the numbers of deaths. Migrants from Tanzania were found to have COVID-19. Government officials denied most of these accounts, and health officials who reported problems related to COVID-19 were fired.
Critics say Magufuli’s legacy will be turning a country previously praised for its tolerance and relative stability into a more repressive state. Under founding President Julius Nyerere, Tanzania was an influential country as the host of pan-African liberation groups including Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress.
“Tanzania has weaponised the law to the point that no one really knows when they are on the right or wrong side of it,” Deprose Muchena, an Amnesty International official in Africa, said of Magufuli’s rule in an October 2020 report.
Politicians were arrested for holding or attending meetings, online activism was criminalized and non-governmental organizations were stifled with endless regulations, that report said.
Zitto Kabwe, leader of the opposition Alliance for Change and Transparency party, said he had been arrested 16 times since Magufuli came to power.
Lissu, Magufuli’s main opponent and challenger in the 2020 polls, complained that security forces interfered with his campaign. His party’s offices were fire-bombed and dozens of parliamentary candidates were disqualified. Tens of thousands of opposition electoral agents were not accredited by the electoral commission, effectively denying them access to poll centers to verify results. On the eve of the election 11 people were shot dead by security forces, nine of them in Zanzibar as they protested alleged election fraud.
Despite the repression, Magufuli’s supporters say he was focused on Tanzania’s economic success and sought to implement ambitious projects that would lift more of his people out of poverty. Scores of infrastructure programs, including trains and the revival of Air Tanzania, were launched under Magufuli’s reign. Tanzania is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, and in July the World Bank categorised it as a middle-income country five years ahead of schedule.

A Harare man, Collen Mavhundutse who is accusing suspected land baron, Felix Munyaradzi of clandestinely being allowed to attend his father-in-law’s funeral in Zvimba from remand prison last year has made fresh complaints against officers from the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).
This comes after the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service this week said the temporary release from remand prison for a property developer to attend his father-in-law’s funeral in August last year was above board.
According to ZPCS, Felix Munyaradzi was granted temporary release from prison by Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi.
ZPCS was responding to allegations by Mavhundutse that prison officials had corruptly released Munyaradzi.
In a statement, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service acting spokesperson Peter Chaparanganda said the facts recorded in the ZPCS occurrence books indicate that then inmate left prison in the morning and reported back at 4pm on the same day.
However, Mavhundutse has since approached the police to probe further insisting that he witnessed Munyaradzi sleeping at his Borrowdale house and accused the ZPCS of trying to cover up the matter.
“I Collen Mavhundutse insists that Felix Munyaradzi did not go back to prison after attending the funeral in Zvimba.
“I witnessed him sleeping at his house while in the company of two prison officers in civilian attire on August 14. I am however shocked by the ZPCS statement in the local media alleging that I was peddling lies over the matter.
“Instead of issuing a statement, they should probe the matter first before making any statements.
“However, I am the complainant in this case and want the relevant officials to investigate the matter further and I am also willing to testify,” he said in a sworn affidavit to the police.
Mr Mavhundutse said he recently met senior officers from the ZPCS including the Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu who assured him that they will get to the bottom of the matter.
“I told the senior officers that Munyaradzi slept at his house when I arrived around 6am, he was still in Borrowdale and they were in the process of preparing to go to remand prison.
“I also witnessed that there was a cattle carcass that was loaded in a black Toyota Hilux which being driven by a driver known as Arthur.
Munyaradzi was seated in a white Toyota Landcruiser V8 while in the company of two ZPCS officers on Saturday 15 August, 2020.
“I then surrendered about US$300 to his wife since he had given me one of his trucks to use for hire,” he said.
Recently, the complaint, which was made by Mavhundutse (38), was recently forwarded to the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (SACU), the Police Anti-Corruption Unit (PACU) and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service for further investigations.
Munyaradzi was arrested last year on allegations of duping people who wanted to buy stands at Sandton near Westgate in Harare before he was later granted $55 000 bail and other stringent conditions.
However, in a twist of events, Mavhundutse made a report to the police to investigate allegations that Munyaradzi allegedly connived with two ZPCS officers to allow him to attend the funeral.
According to the report made, after attending the funeral, Munyaradzi is further alleged to have gone to spend the night at his Borrowdale house, before returning to prison the following day.
He is also alleged to have slaughtered two beasts for the two officers before giving them about 200 chickens.
Circumstances leading to Munyaradzi’s arrest were that during 2015, his firm Delatfin Investments, entered into a swap deal with Mr Delish Nguwaya for the sale of stands in exchange for a Toyota Prado.
Delatfin Investments sold three residential stands — 1572, 1516 and 1471 — in Sandton Park in Mt Hampden, worth US$50 000 and Mr Nguwaya surrendered the Prado and an agreement of sale was signed on February 2, 2018.
It is alleged that Munyaradzi went on to sell the stands to other people, and when Mr Nguwaya complained, he agreed to compensate him with eight smaller stands in Sandton Park.
But then, Munyaradzi allegedly went on to sell one of the stands to Tawanda Mashumba for US$30 000.
It is the State’s case that Mr Nguwaya was aware that the stand in question had already been sold, and he lost US$15 000 in the process.
On April 20, 2015, Delatfin Investments was offered 120 hectares of State land by the Ministry of Local Government to develop residential stands. The land was previously used by the police for breeding horses.
In 2016, Munyaradzi through his firm, allegedly sold a stand fraudulently to Mrs Gabaza for US$18 000, a stand in Sandton Phase 3 to Mr Dondo for US$22 000, and another stand in the same neighbourhood to Mr Erasmus Makodza for US$40 000.
Mr Makodza is said to have later discovered his stand had allegedly been sold for a second time to Mrs Nyongo by Munyaradzi, forcing him to lodge a complaint with the police. -Herald

Levison Luphahla (32) of Geleza village was incensed by Khumbulani Tshuma (30)’s insistence that he was older and went berserk.
He viciously attacked Tshuma, from neighbouring Mangevula village, in Jotsholo under Chief Mabhikwa with a log, killing him on the spot.
Luphahla pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to a lesser charge of culpable homicide when he appeared before Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese who is on circuit in Hwange.
The judge sentenced him to four years in prison.
Justice Makonese said while Luphahla was intoxicated when he committed the crime, he had used excessive force causing the death of Tshuma.
Luphahla, who was represented by Ms Linda Mthombeni of Dube, Nkala and Company, will however serve an effective three years after one year was suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The two had been drinking homemade beer at Mrs Mainah Ncube’s homestead where villagers had been gathered to help harvest sorghum.
Other villagers left for their homesteads at sunset leaving the two drinking after which a misunderstanding arose around 8:30pm.
Tshuma picked two wooden stools and threw them at Luphahla one after the other hitting him on the face before he fled from the scene.
Luphahla gave chase and caught up with his friend who he hit several times with a log causing his death in a nearby maize field.
Prosecuting, Mrs Martha Cheda said Luphahla told Mrs Ncube in the morning that he had killed his friend.
“On the 31st day of May 2020 at around 8:30PM Luphahla and the now deceased were drinking beer when a misunderstanding arose between them on who was older than the other,” said Mrs Cheda.
Tshuma was found dead the following morning.
Mrs Ncube informed the village head about the matter and a report was made to the police leading to Luphahla’s arrest.- Chronicle
POLICE in Gweru have arrested 17 suspected armed robbers belonging to three gangs that are allegedly linked to a spate of robberies committed in and around the city between October and December last year.
The gangs were armed with weapons such as firearms, axes, machetes and knobkerries when they were committing crimes.
Among those robbed were Roman Catholic nuns.
Police have recovered property worth thousands of United States dollars which include cars and electrical gadgets that are now being kept at Gweru Central Police Station.
Residents who fell victim to the alleged robbers have since been advised to come to the police station to identify their property.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest of the 17 suspects.
He said investigations are underway to account for some of the gang members who are on the run.
“ZRP Midlands Province has arrested 17 people making up three gangs linked to a spate of robberies which were perpetrated in and around Gweru during a period spanning from the last quarter of year 2020.
“Stolen property worth thousands of United States dollars was recovered and is held at CID Gweru. Investigations are underway to account for some of the gang members who are still outstanding and have them all tried in the court of law,” said Insp Mahoko.

The World Karate Federation (WKF) has provisionally withdrawn recognition of the Zimbabwe Karate Union (ZKU) with immediate effect for operating in breach of the global governing’s body statutes.
The Zimbabwe Karate Union has continued to administer both semi and full-contact karate in breach of the WKF statutes which were revised in 2018.
Article 5.15 of the WKF constitution states:
National Federations are prohibited from being affiliated with any karate organisation not recognised by WKF. Affiliates are also prohibited from having any sporting relationships with such non-recognised organisations or with any suspended WKF National Federation.
Non-compliance with this prohibition would give rise to disciplinary sanctions. Illegal double affiliation would constitute just grounds for disaffiliation from WKF.
In a letter dated 5 March 2021, and addressed to ZKU president Stephen Charandura, the WKF wrote:
Kindly note that the provisional disaffiliation of the ZKU will be submitted for the ratification of the WKF Congress at its next meeting.
On that occasion, the ZKU will be granted the opportunity to express its view with regard to disaffiliation of WKF, if it so wishes. Please note that the congress will have the entire discretion to disaffiliate ZKU.
Please note that your federation will, as of today, no longer be entitled to the rights reserved only to WKF members, including but not limited to participating in WKF events, use the WKF logo, name and representing the WKF in Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe National Karate Federation which is for various styles but mainly semi-contact), headed by former ZKU president Sensei Joe Rugwete has not been suspended.
The Zimbabwe National Karate Federation and the Zimbabwe Karate Union went separate ways recently due to disagreements on how to run the institution.
In June last year, then-ZKU president Sensei Rugwete was quoted by the Chronicle as saying the organisation faced suspension or expulsion from the World Karate Federation. Speaking on the way forward back then, he said:
It’s not going to be a decision for the president (himself) and the vice-president (Sensei Tawanda Mufundisi). It’s a decision of members of ZKU, semi and full-contact.
If we don’t comply, we will get expelled, so on this issue, we really need to get both sides, semi-contact, and full-contact.

THREE men were on Thursday last week killed by a lightning bolt at Mhembwechena Business Centre in Makonde district, while one was seriously injured.
The three – Tongai Gandiwa (32), Stewart Phiri (23) and Shadreck Bvudzijena (age unknown) – were pronounced dead on arrival at Kenzamba Clinic.
Tongai’s brother, Shine (30), who sustained serious burns, was taken to the same clinic where he received medication.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Margaret Chitove confirmed the incident and said the four where sitting under a tree when the thunderbolt struck.- The Herald

Angel whose real surname is Mudzanire, is on the UK police wanted list on several cases of rape and fraud, recently appeared on state TV donating seven tonnes of mealie-meal to Mnangagwa’s wife Auxillia.
The handful mealie meal donation was handed over to Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Angel of Hope Foundation by Uebert Angel’s representative, Pastor Felix Chikase on the 15thof February.

Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda read the letter from Mr Rukanda announcing the recall this afternoon in Parliament.

By James Gwati-A celebrated Zimbabwean and Internationally recognised female lawyer who abandoned President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s advisory post, Petina Gappah, has joined the African Continental Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat.
Gapa quitted Mnangagwa’s trade and investment advisory role in 2019 after being frustrated by the Zanu PF leader’s close lieutenants, who she accused of pursuing personal wealth accumulation at the expense of genuine reforms to turn around the country’s fortunes.
“I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat as Principal Legal Advisor in the Office of the Secretary-General. It’s an honor to use the skills and experience of a lifetime to assist SG Wamkele Mene and AU Members to build the AfCFTA,” she posted on her Twitter handle, Wednesday.
Gappah, a lawyer and writer, was among Mnangagwa’s first group of top aides at the birth of his new dispensation in 2017, globetrotting with the President and driving the government’s re-engagement efforts with the Western world.

Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Deputy Minister Tino Machakaire, Zanu PF acting deputy secretary for the Youth League Tendai Chirau, Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Seke-Chikomba, Tatenda Mavetera, Zanu PF Harare Province youth chairman Emmanuel Mahachi on Tuesday flocked the Nhira residence in Manyame Park, Chitungwiza.
The Zanu PF team thronged the Nhira homestead led by Deputy Minister Machakaire, in the name of delivering the news of the State-assisted funeral to the family.
Nhira, died last week in South Africa from injuries she sustained from an attack by robbers.
By A Correspondent-Actress Anne Nhira, who was granted a State-assisted funeral, died a painful death after she was attacked by robbers in South Africa last week while coming from morning prayers in a mountain where she had gone with her brother Juan.
Family spokesperson and Anne’s cousin, Mrs Florence Ziyambi, yesterday said a day after the attack, Anne started spitting blood and her body was swollen.
“It is very painful. My sister was mugged while coming from a mountain for prayers with her brother Juan. They had gone to pray early in the morning and Anne was the first to descend, while her brother remained at the mountain for a few minutes,” said Mrs Ziyambi.
“As she was walking in the park, she was attacked and the robbers got away with her handbag. She was then assisted by Juan who took her to the clinic where she was checked first day. Tthey said she was okay.”
Mrs Ziyambi said Anne’s condition worsened the following day.
“On Tuesday last week, she started having pains from the injuries and her body was swollen. On Wednesday, Juan took her back to the hospital where they examined her again and said she had sustained internal injuries.
“They prescribed medication and there was no change. On Thursday early in the morning, Juan noticed that Anne was worse and took her to hospital. her body was starting to get cold and moments later she was pronounced dead.”
Mrs Ziyambi said they had decided to open a murder case in South Africa and Juan was already working with the police.
“Juan went to Germiston police station in South Africa yesterday where they recorded his statement and he was writing an affidavit, after we have decided to open a murder case,” she said.
“According to the police, investigations are underway and they said have taken the matter to a higher police station. I can’t remember the name.”
Mrs Ziyambi said they were working with Nyaradzo Funeral Service to repatriate the body to Zimbabwe, and hoped that paperwork will be completed by Friday.
“We are hoping that after two to three days the paperwork will be done and her body will be in Zimbabwe for burial as planned. We will bury her at Zororo Memorial Park cemetery.”
Mrs Ziyambi thanked the Government for granting Anne a State-assisted funeral.

“I am happy with how the Government has responded fast after the request. We saw it fit for her to be given the State-assisted funeral as she played a major role in the arts sector. I immediately went straight to the President and thanked him.”
Deputy Minister Machakaire said the family would get financial assistance for funeral.
Cde Chirau described Anne as a strong and bold person who stood by her word.
“We have lost a talent, household name in the television and film industry. I urge other artistes to learn from the legacy left by Anne. She promoted good values. She died a painful death,” said Cde Chirau.
By James Gwati- Police in Bulawayo has impounded 120 “pirate” taxis and arrested over 30 touts in a two-day blitz under “Operation no to pirate kombis, no to mshikashika.”
The operation which involves the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) and Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) started on Monday after last week a team of traffic police officers were beaten up by angry motorists in the Central Business District for harassing the motoring public.
Implementing the clampdown against “pirate” taxis, police said vehicle owners who allow their cars to be used to illegally carry passengers, would be arrested.

Mdc Alliance Namibia concurs with the vibrant Amalgamated Rural Teachers’Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) on the need for all poor teachers, all progressive citizens in the Mdc Alliance, all parents and parents to be, all comrades and friends to converge so that they can fight collectively against slave wages on the 22 March 2021. It is now imperative for the enslaved teachers to pent up their outrage demanding conducive working and living conditions as well as a better living wage that can assist them to send their children to school. We are in solidarity with Artuz since their push for #SafeSchoolsCampaign alongside #SaveOurEducationZW is a legitimate and constitutional struggle worth offering solidarity.
Moreover, teachers in Zimbabwe should actively resist threats of abductions, torture, arbitrary arrests, salary cessation, suspensions and gear up to confront those who are eating on behalf of vulnerable educators who are languishing in abject poverty. Our underpaid teachers don’t deserve these unsalted peanuts they getting from this insensitive and corrupt government which is not shaken by the shoddy livelihoods displayed by our diligent workers in the education sector. It is quite pathetic that the state has unceremoniously announced the opening of schools again without addressing the incapacitation of our teachers. Despite incapacitation, the reckless Zanupf government did not undertake thorough consultations with stakeholders concerning how it is going to fight the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
We are cobra-headed that this inhuman and politically bankrupt Harare regime is on a rampant operation to dissipate the limbing education system by both exposing helpless learners and the poorly remunerated hardworking teachers to the catastrophic Corona Virus. What mesmerises and hypnotizes Mdc Alliance Namibia is that when our defenceless and poverty-stricken teachers fall victim to the pandemic , their peanuts cannot afford a one day bed in the elite Covid-19 hospitals. The struggle for better salaries is a compulsory struggle for all.
Furthermore, as a district, we are in solidarity with all progressive teachers unions which are sensitive to the plight of the suffering profession. We salute ARTUZ’S leadership for declaring incapacitation as it does not make any sense for our teachers to continue working for looters in the Zanupf government. Our anticipation is to see a collective fight, unions mobilising for district , provincial and national labour forums with concerned parents , and communities to build consensus on the measures and tactics on how to liberate the education fraternity which had subsidised the corrupt and greedy government for decades. All Zimbabweans in the country and in the diaspora should be ready to actively participate in a genuine dialogue aimed at upgrading the meagre salaries received by our mothers, fathers , brothers, sisters and friends.
We absolutely condemn the futile attempt to abduct the firebrand Secretary General Cde Robson Chere who served the Ministry with the incapacitation letter exposing the Union’s determination to be restored to October 2018 salaries of US$540 monthly. The ruthless state has grown extremely desperate as Amalgamated Rural Teachers’Union of Zimbabwe, Artuz is planning on a historical and inclusive protest on the 22 March under the theme #SaveOurEducationZW. Mdc Alliance Namibia remains infuriated that Zanupf-sponsored state agents continue to invade and harass Artuz members countrywide. We would like to warn all overambitious Border Gezi-trained Heads together with freak teachers to bear with incapacitated teachers who are scratching their heads for a single nutritious meal per day.
Moreso, the struggle for a living wage is just , legitimate, constitutional and compulsory since it has become ridiculous for well-furnished teachers to receive less than what Zupco conductors, the police and army are getting given the period of study they undergo to attain various Diplomas and Degrees. Reports say Apostle Mkungwa collapsed and died at his house in Masvingo on Tuesday.

We celebrate a life that was lived with great commitment to the work of God . May the Holy Spirit comfort the Mukungwa family RAF ministries and the church at large,” wrote Evangelist Denis Hove on Facebook.

Newly elected CAF president Patrice Motsepe has vowed to visit all member association, including ZIFA, in the next couple of months.
The South African businessman and owner of SA Premier League side Mamelodi Sundowns was elected the new boss of African football during the CAF General Assembly held on Friday.
Motsepe first made the promise soon after the elections and confirmed that again in his latest press conference in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
He said the tour will happen in the next 6-12 months as part of a plan to understand the problems facing Member Associates.
“I will hold two more meetings this year with all the presidents of CAF Member Associations and we will discuss urgent measures there,” he said in the recent presser.

The long-awaited return of the local league is upon us after government approved the resumption of all sporting disciplines.
Football in the country has been frozen by the Covid-19 crisis since March last year and efforts to have it back continuously hit a brick wall as it was categorized as a high risk sport by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).
The commission did however indicate last week that high risk disciplines will be allowed to resume, a position which has now been confirmed by government spokesperson Nick Mangwana.

Ngezi Platinum midfielder Gerald Takwara is set to undergo a two-week trial stint with Tanzanian top-flight club Azam FC.
The 26-year-old arrived in Tanzania on Tuesday as he looks to impress the East African side, which is home to the Zimbabwean trio of Warriors striker Prince Dube, Bruce Kangwa and Never Tigere.
According to the Chronicle, football agent George Deda facilitated Takwara’s trial stint through his Soccer Transfer International Agency.
Takwara will also have a chance to get assessed at Ethiopian giants St George after his trials at Azam.
Deda confirmed: “Takwara has been invited for a two-week trial by Azam and from here, he will proceed to Ethiopia’s St George’s. We are confident Takwara will impress and grab the opportunity.”
Should he impresses at any of the two East African clubs, the transfer will mark his return to a foreign league.

ZIFA has confirmed all local players in the 38-member Warriors squad, except goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda, will not join the camp for now.
The players will isolate at home, waiting for an emergency call-up should any of the foreign-based stars pull-out of the squad.
The eleven locally-based Warriors who are on standby are Brian Banda, Ralph Kawondera, Nelson Chadya, Qadr Amini, Andrew Mbeba, Kelvin Madzongwe, Tatenda Tavengwa, Carlos Mavhurume, King Nadolo, Shadreck Nyahwa, Farau Matare.

Mdc Alliance Namibia concurs with the vibrant Amalgamated Rural Teachers’Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) on the need for all poor teachers, all progressive citizens in the Mdc Alliance, all parents and parents to be, all comrades and friends to converge so that they can fight collectively against slave wages on the 22 March 2021. It is now imperative for the enslaved teachers to pent up their outrage demanding conducive working and living conditions as well as a better living wage that can assist them to send their children to school.
We are in solidarity with Artuz since their push for #SafeSchoolsCampaign alongside #SaveOurEducationZW is a legitimate and constitutional struggle worth offering solidarity.
Moreover, teachers in Zimbabwe should actively resist threats of abductions, torture, arbitrary arrests, salary cessation, suspensions and gear up to confront those who are eating on behalf of vulnerable educators who are languishing in abject poverty. Our underpaid teachers don’t deserve these unsalted peanuts they getting from this insensitive and corrupt government which is not shaken by the shoddy livelihoods displayed by our diligent workers in the education sector. It is quite pathetic that the state has unceremoniously announced the opening of schools again without addressing the incapacitation of our teachers. Despite incapacitation, the reckless Zanupf government did not undertake thorough consultations with stakeholders concerning how it is going to fight the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
We are cobra-headed that this inhuman and politically bankrupt Harare regime is on a rampant operation to dissipate the limbing education system by both exposing helpless learners and the poorly remunerated hardworking teachers to the catastrophic Corona Virus. What mesmerises and hypnotizes Mdc Alliance Namibia is that when our defenceless and poverty-stricken teachers fall victim to the pandemic , their peanuts cannot afford a one day bed in the elite Covid-19 hospitals. The struggle for better salaries is a compulsory struggle for all.
Furthermore, as a district, we are in solidarity with all progressive teachers unions which are sensitive to the plight of the suffering profession. We salute ARTUZ’S leadership for declaring incapacitation as it does not make any sense for our teachers to continue working for looters in the Zanupf government.
Our anticipation is to see a collective fight, unions mobilising for district , provincial and national labour forums with concerned parents , and communities to build consensus on the measures and tactics on how to liberate the education fraternity which had subsidised the corrupt and greedy government for decades.
All Zimbabweans in the country and in the diaspora should be ready to actively participate in a genuine dialogue aimed at upgrading the meagre salaries received by our mothers, fathers , brothers, sisters and friends.
We absolutely condemn the futile attempt to abduct the firebrand Secretary General Cde Robson Chere who served the Ministry with the incapacitation letter exposing the Union’s determination to be restored to October 2018 salaries of US$540 monthly.

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration is in panic mode following President Chamisa’s Agenda 2021 Address last week.
The panicky regime accused President Chamisa of inciting social unrest.
Commenting on the regime’s threats to arrest President Chamisa, MDC Alliance Youth Assembly national spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma said:

Last week President Chamisa said: “Let me set the record straight, I am not beating drums of war. I am just calling for unity- that’s all.All great nations thrive on unity- everyone wants unity.”

7 Common Nutrient Deficiencies: Know the Signs The hidden cause of common symptoms such as fatigue and muscle aches could be a nutrient deficiency.

You may think nutrient deficiencies are a thing of the past, experienced only by sailors on long sea voyages. But even today, it’s possible to lack some of the essential nutrients your body needs to function optimally.
“Nutrient deficiencies alter bodily functions and processes at the most basic cellular level,” says Tricia L. Psota, PhD, RDN, a lecturer in the exercise and nutrition sciences department at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health in Washington, DC. “These processes include water balance, enzyme function, nerve signaling, digestion, and metabolism. Resolving these deficiencies is important for optimal growth, development, and function.”
Nutrient deficiencies can also lead to diseases. “For example, calcium and vitamin D deficiencies can cause osteopenia or osteoporosis, two conditions marked by brittle bones,” says Kate Patton, RD, a dietitian at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. “And inadequate iron can cause anemia, which zaps your energy.”
Telltale symptoms are usually the first clue that you are low in one or more important vitamins or minerals, says Patton. Here’s how to recognize seven common nutrient deficiencies.
Calcium: Numb, Tingling Fingers and Abnormal Heart Rhythm Calcium is important for maintaining strong bones and controlling muscle and nerve function, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Signs of severely low calcium include numb, tingling fingers and abnormal heart rhythms, says the Cleveland Clinic. That said, there are no short-term, obvious symptoms of calcium deficiency.
Most adults need 1,000 milligrams (mg) of calcium each day, though women over 50 and men over 70 need 1,200 mg, per the Mayo Clinic. Patton says you’ll likely get enough from at least three servings of milk or yogurt a day. Cheese is another good source of calcium, but if you’re not big on dairy, you can find this nutrient in calcium-fortified orange juice or breakfast cereal (check the nutrition facts label of the food to see if calcium has been added), and dark leafy greens like kale and broccoli, according to the NIH.

Vitamin D: Fatigue, Bone Pain, Mood Shifts, and More This vitamin is another that’s crucial for bone health and may also prevent some cancers, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency can be vague — fatigue, bone pain, mood changes, and muscle aches or weakness may set in.
“If it goes on long term, a vitamin D deficiency can lead to softening of the bones,” Psota says. Long-lasting deficiency also may be linked with cancers and autoimmune diseases, says Michelle Zive, an NASM-certified nutrition coach based in San Diego.
According to the NIH, most adults need 15 micrograms (mcg) of vitamin D each day, and adults older than 70 need 20 mcg. Patton suggests having three servings of fortified milk or yogurt daily and eating fatty fish, such as salmon or tuna, twice a week, as these are foods that contain vitamin D; spend some time outside in the sunshine every day, too, as this is a great source of the nutrient. Ten to 30 minutes a few times a week of direct sunlight exposure should help, Zive says.
Potassium: Muscle Weakness, Constipation, Irregular Heart Rhythm, and More Potassium helps your heart, nerves, and muscles work properly and also delivers nutrients to cells while removing waste, according to MedlinePlus. Plus, it’s a useful nutrient that helps offset sodium’s negative impact on your blood pressure: “It’s important in maintaining a healthy blood pressure,” Zive says.
You could become low in potassium in the short term because of diarrhea or vomiting; excessive sweating; antibiotics, laxatives, or diuretics; excessive alcohol consumption; or because of a chronic condition such as kidney disease, per the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms of a deficiency include muscle weakness, twitches, or cramps; constipation; tingling and numbness; and an abnormal heart rhythm or palpitations, says MedlinePlus.
For natural potassium sources, try bananas, milk, acorn squash, lentils, and kidney beans and other legumes. Adult men need 3,400 mg each day, and women need 2,600 mg, according to the NIH.
Iron: Fatigue, Shortness of Breath, Cold Hands and Feet, Brittle Nails, and More Iron is necessary to produce red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body, according to the University of California in San Francisco. When iron levels get too low, there may be a deficiency in red blood cells, resulting in a condition called anemia. Some groups at increased risk of iron deficiency include menstruating women, growing individuals (such as children and pregnant women), and those following a vegan or vegetarian diet, Zive says.
Anemia can leave you with symptoms including weakness and fatigue, shortness of breath, a fast heartbeat, pale skin, headache, cold hands and feet, a sore or swollen tongue, brittle nails, and cravings for strange things like dirt, according to the Mayo Clinic. The symptoms may be so mild at first that you don’t notice something’s wrong, but as iron stores become more depleted, they will become more intense.
To boost iron levels, Patton recommends eating iron-fortified cereal, beef, oysters, beans (especially lima, navy, and kidney beans), lentils, and spinach. Adult men and women over 50 need 8 mg per day, and adult women younger than 50 need 18 mg each day, according to the NIH.
Vitamin B12: Numbness, Fatigue, Swollen Tongue, and More Vitamin B12 aids the production of red blood cells and DNA, and also improves neurotransmitter function, according to the NIH. Vegetarians and vegans may be at particular risk for vitamin B12 deficiency because plants don’t make the nutrient, and people who’ve had weight loss surgery may also lack B12 because the procedure makes it difficult for the body to extract the nutrient from food, according to Harvard Health Publishing.
Symptoms of severe B12 deficiency include numbness in the legs, hands, or feet; problems with walking and balance; anemia; fatigue; weakness; a swollen, inflamed tongue; memory loss and difficulty thinking, per Harvard Health Publishing. These symptoms can come on quickly or gradually, and since there’s such a wide range in symptoms, you may not notice them for a while.
Adults need 2.4 mcg of B12 per day, according to the NIH. It’s most commonly found in animal products, and Patton recommends fish, chicken, milk, and yogurt to boost your B12 levels. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, Zive suggests opting for foods fortified with B12, such as plant-based milk and breakfast cereals. You can also find B12 in most multivitamins, according to the NIH, but if you’re at risk of being deficient, you can take a supplement specifically containing B12.
