“I hope it’s not the end. Never thought one day I will be in this condition. Lord heal me. Thank you for those who have been wishing me well. Surgery tomorrow,” the speedy winger wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.
Former teammate Prince Dube was among those that wished him a speedy recovery: “May the Almighty God be with you in your recovery journey,” Dube wrote.

The artiste popularly known as Chibaba, was pronounced dead on Tuesday evening upon arrival at Mbuya Dorcas Hospital. During his career that spanned over a decade, Soul Jah Love (real name Soul Musaka) captivated many people on the Zimdancehall scene and made some fall in love with the genre. However, during his time on God’s green earth, Soul Jah Love was followed by controversy.
He was said to have been a heavy drug user, a drunkard and hard to work with as he would pull no shows at venues where he was booked to perform. People like Mutare businessman, Esau Mupfumi went as far as getting him arrested for not pitching up for a show yet he had been paid a deposit. In Bulawayo, in June, 2015 the artiste disappeared from the stage and after an hour, the venue – Palace Hotel’s Gardens degenerated into a war zone.
Fans armed with stones, chairs, empty alcohol bottles and the like pelted the stage. When they were done damaging the inside, they went outside, baying for Soul Jah Love’s blood where they pelted the windows of the hotel and cars that were parked there.
The promoter of this show, Assan Mandizvidza Mugumbate reflecting on his interactions with the late artiste said: “Soul Jah Love was a very understanding person who’d have his bouts of being wayward, but generally, he was a great person to work with. “However, he was a person who when you’d book him, as a promoter, you had to pin him down and follow up with him always because if you didn’t do that, you’d have problems.”
Interestingly, two months before pulling his usual stunts at Palace, another promoter, DJ Phat Joe had hosted him at the same venue and everything went well.
Detailing how he managed to pull the show off, the DJ said he had to travel to Harare to get Soul Jah Love in order to ensure he travelled to Bulawayo. He said during their interaction, Soul Jah Love did not come across as the crass, druggie, bad boy that was being peddled out there as he met a jovial and easy going man who loved his art. “We went to Harare to get him because we’d been told that he doesn’t pitch up for shows.
We met him at his home in Msasa Park and he welcomed us. We paid him his performance fees which at that time was US$2 500. We didn’t have any problems with him,” said DJ Phat Joe. Interestingly, he said the reason why Soul Jah Love did not pitch up at some shows was because of money. “During our journey to Bulawayo, he told us that most of the time that he does these things (not appear at shows) was because promoters would not have paid him or the money that he’d have been given would be little.
“I also realised that there was a challenge with some of his managers that he had as they would be paid his booking fees and not tell him. So when the day came for him to perform, he would boycott then people would start blaming him. We then discovered that it was better to deal directly with him,” said DJ Phat Joe.
The promoter said when they wanted to book Soul Jah Love into a hotel, he refused and told them he would instead stay with them. The whole point for this according to DJ Phat Joe was for Soul Jah Love to prove to him that he was not a problematic person like what people had been portraying. What many did not know was the business side of Soul Jah Love because besides music, he owned a fleet of kombis, something that his manager for six months, Benjamin Nyandoro shared.
“One day when I went to see him at his place, he asked me to manage his affairs. I thought he was joking and after some thinking, I agreed. People may not know that Soul Jah Love had a fleet of kombis that plied the Mbare-Highfield route.
“This is a life that people didn’t know about Soul Jah Love. He was very business-oriented and this gave me the drive to expose him to more opportunities,” said Nyandoro. He said the bad boy image was likely because people could not separate his on and off-stage character.
“He would come out and say this and that or smoking this and that, but that wasn’t the guy he was. Soul Jah Love was a person managing his diabetic condition. When we say he was on drugs, he was on insulin, that was his drug,” said Nyandoro. The battle with diabetes, Nyandoro said was a tough one for the late artiste as he would travel with his insulin kit which had to be administered at certain times.
“While it wasn’t easy for him as an artiste to entertain the masses while battling diabetes, he would make sure that this didn’t overshadow the show. It was all about entertaining people.
“He would deliver, but under very trying conditions,” explained Nyandoro. He went on to describe Soul Jah Love as an extremely intelligent and complex individual.
Meanwhile, a family spokesperson of the late artiste, Solomon Musaka yesterday said the burial is provisionally set for Friday or Saturday in Harare as they are awaiting Covid-19 test results. -Chronicle

Two more suspects allegedly involved in the US$2,7 million ZB Bank cash-in-transit heist last month were granted bail by the High Court yesterday after Tatenda Gadzikwa, who is the mastermind of the heist was released last week.
Although the judge, in granting bail, said he found nothing amiss with the application, the general sentiment in police circles is that freeing the suspects will jeopardise ongoing investigations to arrest other suspects who are still on the run
Tozivepi Chirara and Terrence Matimba are two of the more than 10 people arrested in connection with the armed robbery most of whom are now on bail. The two were granted $50 000 bail.
Prosecutors Mr Washington Munyoro and Richard Chikosha had opposed bail, but Justice Webster Chinamora did not find any compelling reasons warranting the denial of bail.
The judge also considered that most of the suspects in the matter have since been granted bail with last week the same judge granting bail to Tatenda Gadzikwa suspected of being the ring leader in the staged robbery.
“I have looked at the record for Tatenda Gadzikwa, whom I granted bail on 12 February 2021” said Justice Chinamora.
“I have not seen anything that sets apart the applicant in that case to the applicants before me to justify a different and adverse treatment.
“In the circumstances, on the principle of parity of treatment, I will grant bail to the applicants on similar terms. They shall pay bail in the sum of $50 000 and report three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at CID Homicide Harare.”
Chirara and Matimba were arrested along with Gerald Rutizirira (35), Kelvin Musakwa (25), Tendai Zuze (35), Neverson Mwamuka (35), Trymore Chapfika and Charles Chirara in connection with the robbery.
Over US$456 000 has so far been recovered from the US$2,7 million that was stolen from the security company that was transporting the cash to Chinhoyi last month, along with cars that had been bought by the suspects.
Eleven suspects have been arrested in connection with the matter, and have appeared in court. The money was en-route for distribution to ZB Bank branches in Chinhoyi, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Gweru, Gwanda, Zvishavane and Bulawayo. Mr Tawanda Takaendesa represented the two suspects.

In a statement, MDC Alliance Youth Assembly official, Hon Joana Mamombe described the postponement of Alan Moyo’s bail application as notorious.
“The bail application for Alan Moyo has been notoriously postponed to tomorrow in what has a become a sad trend – ‘the state did not file a response’. Alan has clocked an unbelievable 72 Days in Prison without trial. This amounts to clear victimisation and shameful attempts by the state to break the spirit of our dear brother.
Pretrial detention is a worrying trend now being used by the state to clamp down on dissent- violating rights to bail.
There is no legal reason why Alan remains in detention.

15 natural ways to lower your blood pressure
Medically reviewed by Atli Arnarson Ph.D. — Written by Kerri-Ann Jennings, MS, RD —
High blood pressure is a dangerous condition that can damage your heart. It affects one in three people in the US and 1 billion people worldwide (1, 2).
If left uncontrolled, high blood pressure raises your risk of heart disease and stroke.
But there’s good news. There are a number of things you can do to lower your blood pressure naturally, even without medication.
Here are 15 natural ways to combat high blood pressure.
Regular exercise helps make your heart stronger and more efficient at pumping blood, which lowers the pressure in your arteries.
In fact, 150 minutes of moderate exercise, such as walking, or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise, such as running, per week, can help lower blood pressure and improve your heart health (3, 4).
What’s more, doing even more exercise than this reduces your blood pressure even further, according to the National Walkers’ Health Study (5).
Bottom line: Walking just 30 minutes a day can help lower your blood pressure. More exercise helps reduce it even further.
For this reason, many public health efforts are aimed at lowering salt in the food industry (6).
Many studies have linked high salt intake with high blood pressure and heart events, including stroke (7, 8).
However, more recent research indicates that the relationship between sodium and high blood pressure is less clear (9, 10).
One reason for this may be genetic differences in how people process sodium. About half of people with high blood pressure and a quarter of people with normal levels seem to have a sensitivity to salt (11).
If you already have high blood pressure, it’s worth cutting back your sodium intake to see if it makes a difference. Swap out processed foods with fresh ones and try seasoning with herbs and spices rather than salt.
Bottom line: Most guidelines for lowering blood pressure recommend reducing sodium intake. However, that recommendation might make the most sense for people who are salt-sensitive.
While some research has suggested that low-to-moderate amounts of alcohol may protect the heart, those benefits may be offset by adverse effects (12).
In the U.S., moderate alcohol consumption is defined as no more than one drink a day for women and two for men. If you drink more than that, cut back.
Bottom line: Drinking alcohol in any quantity may raise your blood pressure. Limit your drinking in line with the recommendations.
It helps your body get rid of sodium and eases pressure on your blood vessels.
Modern diets have increased most people’s sodium intake while decreasing potassium intake (13).
To get a better balance of potassium to sodium in your diet, focus on eating fewer processed foods and more fresh, whole foods.
Foods that are particularly high in potassium include:
vegetables, especially leafy greens, tomatoes, potatoes, and sweet potatoes
fruit, including melons, bananas, avocados, oranges, and apricots
dairy, such as milk and yogurt
tuna and salmon
nuts and seeds
beans
Bottom line: Eating fresh fruits and vegetables, which are rich in potassium, can help lower blood pressure.
However, there’s not a lot of evidence to suggest that drinking caffeine regularly can cause a lasting increase (14).
In fact, people who drink caffeinated coffee and tea tend to have a lower risk of heart disease, including high blood pressure, than those who don’t drink it (15, 16, 17, 18).
Caffeine may have a stronger effect on people who don’t consume it regularly (19).
If you suspect you’re caffeine-sensitive, cut back to see if it lowers your blood pressure (20).
Bottom line: Caffeine can cause a short-term spike in blood pressure, although for many people, it does not cause a lasting increase.
When you’re chronically stressed, your body is in a constant fight-or-flight mode. On a physical level, that means a faster heart rate and constricted blood vessels.
When you experience stress, you might also be more likely to engage in other behaviors, such as drinking alcohol or eating unhealthful food that can adversely affect blood pressure.
Several studies have explored how reducing stress can help lower blood pressure. Here are two evidence-based tips to try:
Listen to soothing music: Calming music can help relax your nervous system. Research has shown it’s an effective complement to other blood pressure therapies (21, 22).
Work less: Working a lot, and stressful work situations, in general, are linked to high blood pressure (23, 24).
Bottom line: Chronic stress can contribute to high blood pressure. Finding ways to manage stress can help.
While eating massive amounts of dark chocolate probably won’t help your heart, small amounts may.
That’s because dark chocolate and cocoa powder are rich in flavonoids, which are plant compounds that cause blood vessels to dilate (25).
A review of studies found that flavonoid-rich cocoa improved several markers of heart health over the short term, including lowering blood pressure (25).
For the strongest effects, use non-alkalized cocoa powder, which is especially high in flavonoids and has no added sugars.
Bottom line: Dark chocolate and cocoa powder contain plant compounds that help relax blood vessels, lowering blood pressure.
According to a 2016 study, losing 5% of your body mass could significantly lower high blood pressure (26).
In previous studies, losing 17.64 pounds (8 kilograms) was linked to lowering systolic blood pressure by 8.5 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure by 6.5 mm Hg (27).
To put that in perspective, a healthy reading should be less than 120/80 mm Hg (4).
The effect is even greater when weight loss is paired with exercise (27).
Losing weight can help your blood vessels do a better job of expanding and contracting, making it easier for the left ventricle of the heart to pump blood.
Bottom line: Losing weight can significantly lower high blood pressure. This effect is even more significant when you exercise.
Every puff of cigarette smoke causes a slight, temporary increase in blood pressure. The chemicals in tobacco are also known to damage blood vessels.
Surprisingly, studies haven’t found a conclusive link between smoking and high blood pressure. Perhaps this is because smokers develop a tolerance over time (28).
Still, since both smoking and high blood pressure raise the risk of heart disease, quitting smoking can help lessen that risk.
Bottom line: There’s conflicting research about smoking and high blood pressure, but what is clear is that both increase the risk of heart disease.
In the Framingham Women’s Health Study, women who drank even one soda per day had higher levels than those who drank less than one soda per day (32).
Another study found that having one less sugar-sweetened beverage per day was linked to lower blood pressure (33).
And it’s not just sugar — all refined carbs, such as the kind found in white flour — convert rapidly to sugar in your bloodstream and may cause problems.
Some studies have shown that low carb diets may also help reduce blood pressure.
One study on people undergoing statin therapy found that those who went on a 6-week, carb-restricted diet saw a greater improvement in blood pressure and other heart disease markers than people who did not restrict carbs (34).
Bottom line: Refined carbs, especially sugar, may raise blood pressure. Some studies have shown that low carb diets may help reduce your levels.
They’re also packed with polyphenols, natural plant compounds that are good for your heart.
Polyphenols can reduce the risk of stroke, heart conditions, and diabetes, as well as improving blood pressure, insulin resistance, and systemic inflammation (34).
One study assigned people with high blood pressure to a low-polyphenol diet or a high-polyphenol diet containing berries, chocolate, fruits, and vegetables (35).
Those consuming berries and polyphenol-rich foods experienced improved markers of heart disease risk.
Bottom line: Berries are rich in polyphenols, which can help lower blood pressure and the overall risk of heart disease.

We acknowledge with heavy hearts, news of the untimely and tragic demise of one of the country’s emerging mega-talents in the arts industry, youthful Zimdancehall artiste Soul Musaka, otherwise affectionately known by his stage moniker, “Soul Jah Love”, at the tender age of 31.
The ZANU PF Youth League, representing the entire cross-section of its structures and membership within and outside our Zimbabwean borders, heartily condoles the Musaka family and the entire “Conquerin” Zimdancehall fraternity over the sad loss.
Zimdancehall is one of the most visible products of ZANU PF’s deliberate drive to promote local content in the arts industry in order to raise the consciousness of the youth and empower them to realise their potential in the creative arts industry. Gingerly, Soul Jah Love stepped forward to become one of its most unassuming proponents, quickly capturing the national imagination as both a mercurial lyricist and prolific songwriter.
He was a rare talent who spiritedly blazed his way through different social classes and generations, grooming a lot of youngsters along the way. His signature beats and content touched the hearts of many, and even aesthetically decorated radio and television slots, a fact which made him a firm favourite and permanent fixture at many state occasions, where he always sang his heart out in support of national progress and development.
The Youth League is currently fully engaged with processes to ensure he is accorded a befitting status.
Lyrics flowed naturally through Soul Jah Love, and his linguistic prowess endures through some of the words he coined or adapted to air across his songs. Words like “chigunduru” and “Pamamomya ipapo” have indeed become some of the indelible footprints he left us in street lingo. His rapidly flourishing discography, featuring songs such as “Simudza mureza”, always tended towards planting a patriotic spirit among young people. The “Pamamonya Ipapo” hitmaker was born with the genes of generating brilliant appealing lyrics as evidenced by his linguistic proficiency and competency in coining words and chants like “ Chibabababa” “ Chigunduru”,” high definition” “ pamamonya Ipapo” and “ television thing, ” amongst a host of other lyrics .
His powerful harmonious rhythmic, poetic, soulful and danceable music appealed and captivated to all demographic groups.
“Chibaba” will forever remain in the hearts of all progressive and peace loving Zimbabwe whose life was dedicated to placing Zimbabwe first in all aspects life whether at home or abroad.Rest in eternal peace Jah Love.

By A Correspondent -The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) said it has no idea of how tobacco farmers would be paid for the 2021 tobacco marketing season which begins next month.
TIMB said they will only establish the payment modalities for tobacco farmer after the announcement of this year’s monetary policy statement.
According to the state media, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor Dr John Mangudya is expected to present this year’s monetary policy statement any time from this week going forward.
TIMB chief executive officer Dr Andrew Matibiri, told the state media, Wednesday that nothing regarding the payment modalities for this year’s tobacco crop has been made.
“We are still waiting for the Reserve Bank to decide, at the moment we don’t know. I think maybe in about a week we would be knowing,” he said.
“I think we are waiting for the monetary policy statement first, but its (monetary policy statement) due sometime this week,” he said.
Last year, tobacco farmers were paid half their earnings through their Zimbabwe dollar accounts with the remaining half being deposited into their Foreign Currency Accounts.
However, most farmers faced difficulties in accessing their hard currency due to failure to appreciate the processes involved.

Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare says they want to avoid staying in Botswana for long ahead of the national team’s penultimate Afcon Qualifier against the Zebras.
Zimbabwe is set to travel to Gaborone for the match during the last week of March and according to Mpandare, the plan is to arrive there on the eve of the game.
This is because they want to avoid undertaking another Covid-19 tests for the encounter.
Speaking to the Chronicle, the manager explained: “In terms of logistics, I’ve started doing research and there are daily flights to Botswana via South Africa, meaning that the ideal situation is to have all international players flying into Zimbabwe.
“Because of the Covid-19 situation, I think it would be ideal for us to leave on the eve of the match and use the results from tests done here for the game and come back. Please note that this is an option that I’ll present to the other guys and if they agree we will pursue it.”
Meanwhile, ZIFA has already started sending invites to clubs, requesting for their release for international duty.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

By A Correspondent | A legal paper suggests that the Norton MP Temba Mliswa’s ex-girlfriend, Susan Mutami truly has a son with the late SB Moyo, contrary to her denials to the effect.
Mutami who is in a bitter split with her former lover, the independent legislator, and who she accuses of impregnating her, last year alone, dated at least four different men who include the Foreign Affairs Minister SB Moyo, one after the other:
Polite Kambamura, the Mining Deputy Minister (they were engaged). Walter Chikwana, Secretary for the Judicial Commission (they had a civil partnership in 2020), and ZANU PF MP, Hon Kenneth Musanhi (see pictures).
Furthermore, an affidavit seen by ZimEye states in addition that she was already pregnant way before bedding Mliswa last year.
The affidavit, certified by the Judicial Services Commission, shows by end of March 2020, she was still engaged to another man, who works inside the JSC, Mr Walter Chikwana. The man was reached for a comment Tuesday but wouldn’t speak or respond to the matter.
Meanwhile, the affidavit states that Mutami was carrying a pregnancy to another man at the end of March 2020. In the affidavit, her boyfriend, Mr Chimwanda says:
‘ I am Susan Vivian Mutami’s partner and in case of emergency I can be contacted on the above mentioned address or on my mobile number, +263772***********”
He then goes on to say he is the legal guardian of SB Moyo’s Child (full name redacted-in accordance with the Children’s Act on the paper).
” I am also the legal guardian of (name withheld), and our unborn child as of date. Attached hereto is a copy of my identification.”
The affidavit was signed on the 24th March 2020.
The development puts burden on Mutami to explain the timing drama surrounding her two pregnancies (to different men) which are within months of each other.
Efforts to get a comment from Mutami were fruitless at the time of writing as she repeatedly put down the phone, while only giving interviews to the Newsday publication which carries a story making false claims that she is the holder of two Australian degrees of which she has none, and also makes false claims that she is the winner of Australia’s CEO awards.
Meanwhile, her ex lover, Mliswa has maintained his allegations that he was set up by the Central Intelligence Organisation in order to incriminate him using Susan Mutami.
Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly has described the late Zim Dancehall artist Soul Musaka, popularly called Soul Jah Love as a talented musician who exposed social vices.
In the twilight stage of his career Soul Jah Love love sang about the suffering of the people of Zimbabwe due to political instability.
Below is the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly statement :
STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF SOUL JAH LOVE
It’s with a heavy heart that we have come to learn of the passing of Soul Musaka, popularly known as Soul Jah Love.
Our deepest condolences to the Musaka family and the Zimdancehall fraternity. If there is one artist who delivered music that connects, it was Soul Jah Love. From Ndini Uya to Kana Ndafa, you can feel raw emotion in his music.
Among other things, Soul Jah Love sang about real life issues such as poverty. His song “Kuponda Nhamo” is both a cry for better living conditions and a call to action for suffering masses. Zimbabwe, please, mese wunganai, mese kokanai, mugosvika pano, toda kumboponda nhamo.
One of his last tracks, dubbed Taneta neNhamo, bemoans the deplorable situation in Zimbabwe. In the song, Soul Jah Love chants “mabvira kare,” laying blame on an unidentified entity who we can only assume is ZANU-PF, the party responsible for the ongoing economic malaise.
When houses of many ordinary citizens, including his, were destroyed a few years back, Soul Jah Love released a track titled “Pazai.” To those who recently started destroying houses again tinoti pazai, pazai, pazai, but one of these days, the people will rise.
As young people, we mourn the passing of a fellow youth, compatriot and brother. His passing has robbed us of a talented artist and left the Zimdancehall fraternity poorer.

“The MDC Alliance joins the nation in mourning the untimely passing of dancehall star, SoulJahLove.

By James Gwati- Government spokesman, Nick Mangwana, has shocked the nation when he announced that Harare will experiment on Zimbabweans with the Chinese donated COVID-19 vaccine.
The government on Monday received 200 000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine from China and has announced that it will start vaccinating health workers and other frontline workers tomorrow, Thursday.
Zimbabweans are already hesitating to take up the Chinese vaccine saying that the ruling elite must take up the lead.
The ruling Zanu PF party’s big wigs such as Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, have openly said that they were not going to take the Chinese COVID-19 jab.
In a bad joke on his Twitter handle, Wednesday, Nick Mangwana said they would “experiment” the vaccine on anyone the authorities would have found roaming around the streets of Harare without exemption letters from the government.
Mangwana’s reckless tweet confirms that President Emerson Mnangagwa’s administration is also not sure of the efficacy of the donated jab.

By Israel Dube- “Covid -19 complications”, is the cause of the death of army generals. At least that is what we are told by the government of Zimbabwe and the state media.
Zimbabwe must be having a new covid- 19 variant which has the eyes as sharp as those of an eagle to identify VP Cosntantino Chiwenga’s faction members with military background among other groups and strike them down with pin point accuracy.
In between sorbs, weeping Oppah Muchinguri, Minister of Defence gave us a clue, “Mnangagwa’s body guards are carrying covid-19 and spreading it,” she told under cover Zimeye journalist, Simba Chikanza. Humiliated Zanupf quickly disowned and dismissed the statement.
Another signal came from Ndavaningi Mangwana, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information. He said the deaths were caused by “medical assassins”. Again, Zanupf jumped up and quickly disowned his statement as soon as it was released.
Politics, being a complicated subject that uses coded language, we must read in between the lines and decode Amai Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri and Ndavaningi Mangwana’s messages.
Key words in Oppah Muchinguri’s statement are ” Mnangagwa’s body guards spreading the virus”. And the key word in Mangwana’s statement is “assassins”. So there you have it! The two statements point to assassinations within Zanupf, a party at war with itself.
These statements and many others that keep on popping up are testimony to a clandestine and tense biological warfare between Zanupf factions that started soon after the 2017 coup. The factions are organised on tribal affiliations and the two tribes at war are Karangas, the current ruling tribe led by President Mnangagwa, and Zezurus, elbowed out of power through 2017 coup. Interestingly, Rt General Chiwenga was the Commander of coup that transfered political power from his fellow Zezuru clan into the hands of the Karangas with the hope that the power hungry Karangas will hand it back to him on a silver platter. He must be hitting his head very hard against the wall on realising his fatal political blunder.
It seems Polonium 210 is the most preferred biological weapon. It is used in food poisoning, and Covid- 19 has also come in handy for use as a cover up.
This is why VP Chiwenga who is the target of food poisoning refuses to take food or drinks at Zanupf functions. This is why Big mouth Victor Matemadanda has toned down nowadays after a suspected polonium 210 attack that made his body swell and sweat profusely like VP Chiwenga.
There is no honour among thieves and genocidists. They do not respect the lives of the masses and the lives of their own comrades.
At stake is political power and all the glory that goes with it. We must remember that in Zimbabwe, Shona people do not take political positions to serve the public but to satisfy their gargantuan appetite for corruption and stealing which forms part of their DNA. Winning an election or taking power through a coup is a blank cheque to stealing from the public purse.
We are happy that MLO is no longer the lone voice concerning corruption in Zimbabwe. It has finally caught international attention as evidenced by the damning report by the South African Maverick Citizen under the title, “Cartel Power and Dynamics”.
The report shows in detail how looting cartels led by king pin, President Mnangagwa have captured the state and are now running the politics and the
economy of the country. How they have captured key state owned companies and private firms.
They are involved in drug trafficking and illegal smuggling of diamonds, gold and cigarettes. State contracts are inflated when services are provided at state owned companies like Zimbabwe National Road Agency (ZINARA), Zimbabwe Passenger Company (ZUPCO), Command Agriculture Program (CAP) and many others.
The country is losing US $5 billion annually due to underhand operations of the Mnangagwa led cartels that run politics and the economy in Zimbabwe.
This is a huge amount of money. Zimbabwe, with a population of 10 million Zimbabweans or Shonas plus 5 million Matabeles, can afford to give each person US$1 million (R14 605 250,00 South African Rand) and still remain with a change of US$4 billion 9hundred and eighty- five million.
Unfortunately, due to greed, selfishness and corrupt tendencies of the Zimbabwe government officials, potentially rich Zimbabwe will remain a failed state without its own currency and dysfunctional
economy. It will remain a bowl carrying beggar state that is splitting into two states, The Republic of Matabeleland and Zimbabwe. Both Matabeles and Shona people will remain poor and laughing stock of the world.
Although MLO is working on its revolutionary program to liberate the oppressed Matabeles from the oppressive, corrupt, tribalistic and genocidal Shona supremacist government of Zimbabwe, we urge all Matabeles to keep their eyes open and use the window of opportunity provided by the Zanupf factions that are at war with each other to get out of Zimbabwe.

State-run oil firm, PetroTrade Limited will be shutting down five of its fuel stations across the country between February 9 and March 30 this year to make way for the return of the assets’ proprietors, chief executive officer Godfrey Ncube told NewsDay Business yesterday.
Ncube said it was possible that the landlords, who he could not disclose, were seeing fresh market opportunities they would like to exploit.
Oil firms have recently been given the greenlight to import fuel and trade in foreign currency.
Business has been booming in the industry, with several importers turning the corner following many years in which they were compelled to trade in the domestic currency.
Many fuel importers went bust during the Zimdollar era because after trading, they failed to raise enough Zimbabwe dollars to buy foreign currency to import more stock.
In a market update yesterday, PetroTrade said fuel stations in Chipinge, Bulawayo, Chitungwiza, Chivhu and Graniteside in Harare would be affected.
He dispelled speculation that the firm had collapsed under dire financial straits after facing stiff competition in a liberalised market.
He said PetroTrade still had 30 fuel stations which were operational.
“We have not closed down our operations,’ Ncube told NewsDay Business.
“The landlord is claiming the assets back. Maybe they are seeing some opportunities in the market,” he said.
The new development at PetroTrade contrasts with the firm’s earlier plan to expand across the country and dominate the rural market.
In 2019, PetroTrade said it was exploring strategies to grow its market share beyond 10% under a plan that would see it expanding to less-serviced rural communities.
Ncube told our sister paper Standardbusiness at the time that PetroTrade’s market share was too small and an aggressive footprint expansion beyond urban areas was underway.
“The future plan is to grow the company. We want to be the company that supplies fuel to different parts of the country,” he said.
“Our aim is that probably in the next three or so years, PetroTrade is there in every district in Zimbabwe.
“We want to ensure that we are operating in every district, even in the rural areas. Currently we have four projects that are running up at the same time.
“We have a project in Mabvuku (Harare) that is almost finished, we have got one at Warren Park (Harare), we have got a project in Bindura that is about 35% complete, we also have a project in Masvingo that is running at about 30% or so complete, we also have a project that is about to start at Epworth (Harare).”
At the time, Zimbabwe was facing an acute shortage of fuel due to foreign currency shortages.
As such, government made a deliberate move to liberalise the fuel sector by allowing operators to make direct imports for the precious liquid in order to increase supply.
Ncube said PetroTrade was sourcing foreign currency from the interbank market and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) to import fuel.
“We are sourcing foreign currency through the interbank market although the foreign currency allocation for fuel is a bit lower,” he said.
“We are also being assisted by the RBZ in sourcing foreign currency, specifically for fuel.”
Fuel price hikes have recently been a cause for concern in Zimbabwe.
Prior to the February fuel prices review, the government had increased fuel prices in January by 1,7% for petrol and 3,4% for diesel.
On December 5 last year, Zera also increased the price of diesel marginally to $97,24 and US$1,19 per litre and petrol to $97,44 and US$1,19 per litre.
The frequent increases in fuel prices are likely to trigger a wave of price adjustments across the board and undermine the government’s objective of price stability.

By A Correspondent| Dinson Colliery Company (Private) Limited (Dinson Colliery) has dragged Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe to court claiming police unlawfully seized its 40 000 litres diesel.
Also cited as respondents are Police Commissioner General, Godwin Matanga and one Sergeant Mazani N. O as well as Tanaka Energy Private Limited.
According to court papers, Dinson purchased and paid for 40 000 litres of fuel from a company called Daily Dose (Private) Limited in January and the fuel was duly delivered to its mining premises in Hwange.
Now Tanaka Energy, cited as fourth respondent, is claiming non-payment of fuel by Daily Dose and has since filed a report for fraud with the police against Daily Dose.
This has prompted police, through Sergeant Mazanhi, to bar Dinson Colliery from using its fuel until the end of court proceedings.
Dinson Colliery says the notice of seizure issued by the police was illegal because it is unreasonably wide.
“The notice purports to bar the use of fuel tanks and dispensing equipment are not logically connected to the criminal proceedings.
“It is therefore unreasonable and so outrageous in its defiance of logic that it must be set aside,” reads the urgent court application now before the High Court.
Lawyers representing the complaint said Dinson Colliery’s mining operations have been disrupted as there was no longer any diesel storage and dispensing facility.
“The matter is therefore extremely urgent. The balance of convenience is in applicant’s favour.
“There is no proof that any of the diesel purchased from Daily Dose is still in the tanks and there is a need for applicant to continue with business by using and having access to the tanks,” said Mushoriwa Pasi Corporate Attorneys.

By A Correspondent- Veteran pilot, Captain Judicat Jonas, who was the pilot-in-command on the B767-200ER flight that brought the 200 000 Sinopharm vaccines donated by China said the operation was an important one.
The flight consisted of 11 crew members – four pilots, two cabin crews, two engineers, load control, dispatcher and charters officer.
Speaking to The Herald on Tuesday, Capt Jonas said the crew’s key focus was to ensure that the preservation of the cargo until its final destination Harare.

Knowing the urgency and critical need we have as a nation for this vaccine given the loss of many citizens due to the pandemic, this was a very important operation for the good and benefit of the people of Zimbabwe.
The entire flight was very smooth with no challenges faced, quick turnaround times on the ground and the aircraft was in a perfectly serviceable condition having recently completed a major maintenance check and great teamwork from the rest of the crew.
Our key focus was to ensure we keep the cargo hold temperature within the required range for the preservation of the vaccine, right until its final destination Harare.

By James Gwati- The country’s main opposition the MDC Alliance has doubted ” the donated Chinese COVID-19 vaccine, saying that it is yet to be approved by the World Health Organisation.
China donated hundreds of thousands of doses of its Sinopharm vaccine to Zimbabwe with the first batch of the jab having arrived in Harare on Monday.
The doubt was expressed by the Alliance’s vice president, Tendai Biti, at the resumption of parliament Tuesday, when the Harare East lawmaker was speaking on a point of privilege.
“ There is no evidence that the Chinese vaccine has been approved by WHO,” Biti told parliament.
True to Biti’s point the World Health Organisation (WHO) is yet to approve the Chinese coronavirus vaccine.
Top Zanu PF officials who include the Defence Minister and the party’s national chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, recently revealed that they would not be taking the Chinese vaccine.
Biti who said that his party was not against the COVID-19 vaccination program challenged the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, that government had not yet presented a national comprehensive roll-out plan for the vaccination process.
“Yes, we believe the best solution to control the disease is through vaccination. The Health Minister should issue a ministerial statement to the National Assembly because the national roll-out plan is absent”, charged Biti.

By A Correspondent- Bulawayo police have arrested two suspects for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs and prohibited substances – namely psychedelic substances like LSD, datura, and DMT were highlighted.
In a statement on Monday, police said the suspects were arrested along the Victoria Falls-Bulawayo Highway last Friday.
“The first suspect (34) was driving an unregistered Toyota Granvia vehicle and was stopped and searched by the police who found two packs of marijuana, 144×100 millilitres of BronCleer and 1×200 millilitres of Mayogel hidden in a trailer,” police said.
“The suspects implicated their accomplice (31), who was later arrested and investigations are underway.”
Different organisations have in the past expressed concern over rampant drug abuse in Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs, such as Entumbane, which has been ranked among substance abuse hotspots.
Most of the illegal highly-intoxicating substances are believed to have been smuggled from neighbouring South Africa by crossborder transporters commonly known as omalayitsha. According to the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe, BronCleer syrup is not licensed for sale in the country though it’s readily available on the streets.
According to reports in Bulawayo, many patients that were referred to the country’s largest psychiatric health institution, Ingutsheni Central Hospital, suffered from drug-related mental disorders.
By A Correspondent- The Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa) Zimbabwe has urged government to include journalists among the first priority groups listed for the COVID-19 vaccination rollout programme.
The media body said journalists were essential service providers who needed to be prioritised like other frontline workers given the role they played in disseminating information to the general public.
This follows the arrival on Monday of 200 000 doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine donated by China.
Government has since released a vaccination rollout plan which is divided into three phases, with the first phase prioritising health workers, immigration agents working at borders, funeral parlour workers, State security personnel and Agritex officers.
“Journalists, together with other essential priority groups, are frontline workers that need to be prioritised as well, given the critical role they play in keeping the nation informed on developments and measures that the government is taking to contain the COVID-19 pandemic,” the Misa Zimbabwe statement released yesterday read.
The media lobby organisation also advised the government to work closely with the Zimbabwe Media Commission, media houses and media representative organisations on how best to implement the inoculation exercise for journalists as they were critical components of the sectors and groups that have been declared essential services.
“The government should consider that journalists risk their lives when carrying out their duties hence the need to prioritise their health and safety,” Misa Zimbabwe said.
The organisation also highlighted that lessons could be drawn from Zambia, which through its Ministry of Health, recently announced that journalists would be among the first recipients of the COVID-19 vaccines when they arrive in that country.
By A Correspondent| Shurugwi South Member of Parliament, Edmond Mkaratigwa has come out clean on the allegations of abuse of the constituency development fund.
The MP yesterday released documents of the funds, how they were used in all the 15 wards of his constituency.
Mkaratigwa said the allegations were raised by people who just wanted to tarnish his image, so that they can go and campaign in the constituency.
“We are in the new dispensation and people should just do away with these cheap politicking gimmicks. For the record I have every documentation of what we are saying. To start with, in the constituency we had a Constituency Development Committee that has people from different backgrounds in the constituency,” he said.
He said when they received the money, he set down with the committee and they agreed to buy cement as a committee and they managed to get 1200 bags including transport from Bulawayo.
“In my constituency, the Constituency Development Committee (CDC) identified different projects they wanted to embark-on in every ward. It was agreed by the Committee to access the resources on a first come – first served basis although generally each ward had its allocation of 80 bags of cement. Ward 3 initially wanted the electrification of their clinic and that project was more expensive for our budget hence they had said they could get the finances for their requisite project later. When money was released by Parliament, the Committee as noted, agreed to buy cement and in particular two truck-loads of cement were bought for the cement and that made up 1200 bags which were delivered directly from Portland Cement Bulawayo, without middlemen,” explained the MP.
He added that the 1200 bags of cement were kept at Pakame Mission using the mission’s warehouses and the CDC further introduced a control system and they used stock control sheets.
“Fourteen individual wards collected their share of 80 bags from Pakame Mission within the reasonably expected time and only one ward under Councillor Tamiswa Njovana did not collect their portion within the stipulated time. They could have done so because cement was not their main priority but electricity,” he said.
Explaining further, Mkaratigwa said Ward 6 that was busy constructing weir dams had a shortage of cement and the Committee made a resolution in a properly constituted meeting, to advance the cement to ward 6 as ward 3 was still brainstorming on its proposed project.
“Ward 6 therefore used 160 bags on the basis that the cement would become unusable if it was stored for too long and, we also did not want to over-burden the Mission that had provided the secure storage facilities,” he added.
He said some constituencies drilled and installed boreholes while others embarked on reasonably bigger projects like weir dams in line with the Constituency Development Committee’s approvals as duly constituted and procedurally directed by the Committee of Parliament.
“Ward 3 later came up with a project to build some school facilities but it was very late and the Committee agreed they will have their share off-set in the soon coming allocation. The financial balance was used for buying mesh-wire for nutritional gardens for the constituency and we had to keep the finances in stock form to lock its purchase value,” he added.
Mkaratigwa said there was no way he would abuse CDF when he has done a lot for the constituency using his personal funds.
“I have actually done a lot of work both in the constituency and in the country broadly,” he said.
Mkaratigwa has donated Computers at Makonde Primary, Dombotombo Secondary, Gato Secondary. He also electrified and implemented a number of water and sanitation projects starting from his village and around the constituency.
Currently he has commenced a half a million US$ electrification project for Mavedzenge Primary School and villages around Mupangayi area in Ward 11.
He has been paying fees for several children in the constituency.
Mkaratigwa said some of the councillors were working with Themba Mliswa who is eying the constituency to smear campaign him.
“I am just told that these allegations were coming from one councillor Njovana who is said to be working with Hon Temba Mliswa who is eying the constituency. Let me set the record straight I do not have problems with people who come and campaign in my constituency but let them tell the truth. I am aware of the meetings held and their resolutions. Let them tell the nation the truth,” he said.
By A Correspondent- The extension of the COVID- 19-induced lockdown on Monday by two more weeks will affect the holding of the Zapu elective congress.
Zapu South African provincial spokesperson Khosikhona Ndlovu said the congress was supposed to be held in August last year, but was pushed to April 15 this year following a surge in COVID-19 infections, but the new date was now doubtful.
The party has been without a substantive leader since the death of its founder Dumiso Dabengwa in 2019.
“Despite these delays, the anticipation within the structures remains high as members are excited with the revival of the party, especially among youths who are eager to see the party turning a new leaf,” Ndlovu said.
“This latest date (April 15) has also been cast in doubt due to renewed strict government restrictions on mass gatherings.
“The election will most likely see the old guard square off with the young blood which is eager to take charge of positions of influence,” he said.
Ndlovu said the party was also considering virtual conferencing and e-voting.
“Whatever happens, it is imperative that fresh winds are blowing in Zapu again and the giant is finally awakening.”
Some of the presidential hopefuls include Mqondobanzi Magonya, John Magwegwe, Iphithule Maphosa, Stike Nkala, Mark Mbaiwa, Matthew Sibanda and Bernard Magugu.

By A Correspondent- Land invasions in whatever form will no longer be tolerated, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesman George Charamba warned on Tuesday as Zimbabwe continues to seek better ties with the West.
Mnangagwa’s Zanu-PF government offered last year to return land to white commercial farmers whose properties were seized under the violent land reform programme two decades ago.
“Henceforth, no more land invasions in whatever form, place, or by whomsoever! Be warned!” said Charamba on Twitter following reports of sporadic invasions across the country over several months.
The late Manicaland provincial minister Ellen Gwaradzimba appeared before a parliamentary committee on lands last year after her son Edmore Mbuzana was accused of snatching part of a farm owned by Chipinge farmer Richard Le Vieux.
The grab was blocked by Cabinet. Gwaradzimba was also implicated in another invasion involving a tradition chief and a farmer in Odzi.
The Odzi chief, Kibben Bvirindi was alleged to have evicted Phillip Valentine with Gwaradzimba’s blessings. Valentine had to approach the High Court to save his farm.
Thousands of white farmers have been violently kicked out of their properties since 2000 by the Zanu PF government, infuriating Western capitals who are demanding compensation for the victims and a return to the rule of law.
Zimbabwe argued the seizures were meant to redress colonial-era land grabs from black people. But the chaotic program backfired and contributed to the country’s economic decline and ruined relations with the West.
As part of its re-engagement process with primarily the United States and Britain, the government launched a US$3.5 billion compensation scheme for dispossessed white farmers last September.
Still, the two countries insist on far-reaching economic, political and electoral reforms.ZimLive
By A Correspondent | A legal paper shows that the Norton MP Temba Mliswa’s ex-girlfriend, Susan Mutami truly has a son with the late SB Moyo, contrary to her denials to the effect.
By A Correspondent- While some parents are already scrambling to secure Form 1 places, others in rural areas have not seen their children’s results as they are failing to access them online due to the digital divide.
Grade 7 results were released last week Friday and learners have since started applying for Form 1 places. The Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZimSec) uploaded the results online for parents to access them since Covid-19 regulations have been delaying the delivery of physical result slips to schools.
Parents who spoke to the Daily News highlighted three main challenges in accessing the results – connectivity, affordability of data and failure to understand the technicality of accessing the website.
“Where we stay there is no network, it is difficult just to get on WhatsApp and for days l have been failing to access the results,” said
Elina Mhlanga, a parent from Ngomeyebani School in Zvishavane. “You know we are not used to these online things. I can’t even open the website. l have been trying, but l think l am missing it somewhere.
“My grandchild also does not understand these things,” Nomagugu Tshuma from Nkayi said.
Ndabazabo Hlupho from Khayanyama village does not own a smartphone so he is waiting for the time when schools will deliver physical slips.
“I don’t have a phone to access the results. Government should consider us from rural areas because we do not have the resources. “I hear others are already looking for Form 1 places and l don’t know when l will do so for my grandchild. When l asked his teacher he said he will get in touch when he visits the school,” said Hlupho.

By A Correspondent- MDC says it has started a process to stop the Nelson Chamisa-led camp from using the MDC Alliance name.
This comes amid serious divisions in the MDC emanating from the nasty battle to succeed the late founding father Morgan Tsvangirai, which saw the Supreme Court stripping Chamisa of the party’s presidency and conferring it on Thokozani Khupe who was recently replaced by Douglas Mwonzora at the party’s congress.
Speaking on the third anniversary of Tsvangirai’s death on Sunday, MDC chairperson Morgen Komichi said they will soon stop Chamisa from using the name.
“The fact that we are here at Harvest House (Morgan Tsvangirai House) means that we are the original MDC, everything that belonged to Tsvangirai is ours, this is our party, councillors and MPs are ours.
“We inherited everything that belongs to Tsvangirai,” Komichi said.
“The name MDC Alliance is ours. We are going to stop those who are using the name. “We have a legal position which says MDC Alliance is our name. Anyone who is using it is misguided.
“We have started the process to stop them from using the name and I cannot tell you our strategies. They must come up with a name of their own.”
He added that people who supported Tsvangirai belonged to Mwonzora’s MDC.
“Tsvangirai was good at recruiting supporters. Everyone who was supporting Tsvangirai belongs to our party. “MDC Alliance secretarygeneral (Chalton) Hwende, (organising secretary Amos) Chibaya and Nelson Chamisa don’t have people.
“As MDC we must pursue national unity, we were formed to solve the national crisis,” Komichi added. All hell broke loose following the death of Tsvangirai in February 2018, leading to dog fights within the party.
The South African government has asked drug-maker Serum Institute of India to take back the one million doses of the AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19.
South Africa has asked drug-maker Serum Institute of India (SII) to take back the one million doses of the AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccines, citing minimal protection against mild to moderate illness, the Economic Times reported on Tuesday, a week after the country suspended the use of the shot after preliminary studies suggested limited effectiveness against the more contagious local variant of the virus.
India has once again exposed playing with human lives, this time being reckless amid the highly sensitive situation of pandemic. South Africa suspended the use of the shot after preliminary studies suggested limited effectiveness against the more contagious local variant of the virus, media reported on Tuesday.
South Africa received from India one million doses of the license-made AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine last week and another 500,000 were set to arrive in the next few weeks. South Africa’s health minister previously noted that the vaccines which arrived from India have an expiry date in April and had asked SII to swap them out for doses with later expiry dates.
Last week, South Africa halted plans to roll out the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine after a preliminary study suggested that the shot provides minimal protection against mild disease from the more contagious variant of the virus spreading in the country. – Agencies/ additional reporting

“Police received a report of a hit and run of an unknown pedestrian who was hit by an unknown motor vehicle along Rangemore road near the Housing Office in Nkulumane and the man died on the spot,” said Insp Ncube. Insp Ncube said the deceased was believed to be between 25 – 35 years old.

ZIFA has started planning for Zimbabwe’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Botswana, with Warriors team manager Wellington Mupandare saying they want flawless preparations.
Last week Zifa set the ball rolling by sending out invitation letters to players’ clubs more than a month before the away fixture in Botswana.
The Warriors are second in the qualifying Group H with five points from four games, while Botswana is in third place and the two face each other on March 22.
On March 30, Zimbabwe will play host to Zambia at the National Sports Stadium.
These are must-win matches for Zimbabwe and flawless preparations are what the Warrios need in their quest to qualify for the continental showpiece.
Mpandare understands the importance of proper planning so that the technical staff and players focus on the job at hand.
Knowing “dirty” tactics used in African tournaments whereby some nations subject visiting teams to hostile treatment in a bid to frustrate their opponents, the Warriors have to be mentally and physically prepared.
FC Platinum was “frustrated” in their last Caf Champions League match against Simba SC of Tanzania, during which five key members of their squad were ruled out of the match after testing “positive” for Covid-19 on the eve of the match.
FC Platinum cried foul play as results were delivered to their opponents first hours before kick-off.
As a result, the Warriors might leave for Botswana on the eve of the match.
At the stage the Warriors are, they cannot leave anything to chance, hence Mpandare’s proposal for a late take off to Botswana.
“In terms of logistics, I’ve started doing research and there are daily flights to Botswana via South Africa, meaning that the ideal situation is to have all international players flying into Zimbabwe. Because of the Covid-19 situation, I think it would be ideal for us to leave on the eve of the match and use the results from tests done here for the game and come back. Please note that this is an option that I’ll present to the other guys and if they agree we will pursue it,” said Mpandare.
“Planning in advance is key and we don’t want to leave things to chance. We started the process of inviting players by writing to their clubs last week. This was done to avoid a situation whereby after we’ve announced the squad you hear that certain players are unavailable. It has happened in the past and now we’ve sent invites early to avoid such situations,” he said.
The Warriors will head to Botswana without playing any friendly matches, meaning that the technical team will pray that players called up are active at their clubs in the run-up to the crucial matches- Chronicle

the national vaccination programme against Covid-19 will cost US$6,7 million, with Government targeting to vaccinate 10 million people, representing about 60 percent of the population.
The Covid-19 vaccine roll-out would be done by between one and two teams made up of five people per district depending on its size.
This was said by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who is also the Health and Child Care Minister, in the National Assembly yesterday.
VP Chiwenga briefed parliamentarians on various issues concerning the vaccination campaign including distribution and storage mechanisms, budgets, training of personnel and safety of the vaccines.
He said the vaccination programme would be done within three phases with the first one expected to commence tomorrow.
The first phase will comprise of two stages; the first one targeting frontline workers while the second stage will target the elderly and those with underlying conditions.
The total budget for the vaccination programme is US$6 778 777 million. Under the plan, Harare would be allocated 11 teams for the first phase, Bulawayo four teams and Chitungwiza two teams.
“The assumption is vaccination will be conducted over 10 days in the first round and five days in the second round.
“Supervisors drawn from head office, provinces and all districts will monitor planning, implementation and outcomes,” he said.
VP Chiwenga said the Health ministry had already begun the training of trainers in all provinces and districts and they would in turn train all personnel at various service centres.
“Areas of training will include vaccine storage, communications, surveillance, vaccination monitoring and evaluation and waste management,” he said.
The VP said the vaccines would be distributed across the country following existing structures for other vaccines, which is from head office to the 10 provinces then to the 63 districts and the more than 1 800 service centres.
VP Chiwenga said a national virtual launch of the vaccination campaign would be done while promotional material using all forms of media had been designed.
Following the arrival of the Sinopham vaccine donated by China on Monday, other consignments are expected to arrive in the country at two to three weeks’ intervals.
All the vaccines to be procured will undergo rigorous tests to ascertain their efficacy. Herald/additional reporting.

The prosecution’s appeal against the High Court decision to grant bail to Tatenda Gadzikwa, the ring leader of the recent US$2,7 million heist hit a snag after the Supreme Court refused to accept the appeal.
On Friday last week, Gadzikwa successfully applied for bail before Justice Webster Chinamora.
He was granted $50 000 coupled with stringent conditions. The State had opposed bail. Aggrieved by the court’s decision, the prosecution yesterday approached the Supreme Court intending to file its appeal but hit a snag after its papers were rejected.
Appeals are not covered under the practice directive issued by Chief Justice Malaba guiding courts operations during the national lockdown period, which has since been extended by another two weeks.
Under the Chief Justice’s practice directive issued yesterday, registries will only accept initial remands, urgent processes and applications plus bail applications.
The filing of new cases, processes, documents, pleadings and papers remain suspended for the period up to March 1. Gadzikwa (39) is facing armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm charges.
His co-accused Gerald Rutizirira 35, Kelvin Musakwa 25, Tendai Zuze 35, Neverson Mwamuka 35 and Trymore Chapfika, Fanuel Masakwa and Shadreck Njowa were also placed on remand on the same matter.
The State charges that on January 6, Gadzikwa and his alleged accomplices planned to rob the bank of cash that was in transit to be distributed to its branches across the country.
It is alleged that they conspired with several others and arranged three getaway vehicles and planned that three would be picked up while being accomplices to the heist.
Masakwa was in the ZB Bank cash-in-transit vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux with a canopy, and would frequently contact his accomplices on their way from Harare to Chinhoyi. Along the way they collected a box containing $43 090, which was supposed to be deposited at the bank and as they drove towards Chinhoyi, the driver picked up three ‘passengers’ on Masakwa’s instructions.
It is reported that when they reached the 60km peg, one of the accomplices pretended that he had reached his destination and the driver stopped the car to let him disembark, that was when the passengers produced a gun and threatened to shoot the crew.
Other accomplices arrived immediately driving an Isuzu twin-cab belonging to Rutizirira, a Toyota Passo and a Toyota Lexus. They were armed with pistols and fired two shots in the air then tied up the crew members before speeding away with seven boxes of the money leaving them at the scene.
The State alleges that Rutizirira led to the discovery of US$96 100 which remained from his share as well as a Toyota Hilux he bought soon after the offence and he also led the police to the red getaway car which had been repainted.
Musakwa reportedly led to the recovery of US$48 000, which he obtained as Musakwa’s proceeds of the crime while Zuze led to the discovery of US$35 082, which he remained with after buying a Toyota Baby Quantum.
Mwamuka led to the recovery of US$74 884, which he remained from his share and a Honda Fit he had bought with some of his money and the Lexus used in the robbery while Chapfika led to the recovery of US$38 900.
The State alleges that Gadzikwa led to the recovery of US$63 000 he had received as proceeds from the commission of the offence and a Toyota Hulux he had bought for US$18 000.
He was arrested after his accomplices implicated him. -Herald

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has described the decision by Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to extend the lockdown without putting in place proper safety nets as ridiculous.
On Monday Mr Mnangagwa extended the lockdown by two weeks.
Political analysts say Mr Mnangagwa is using the lockdown to close democratic space.
“The extension of the lockdown in the absence of social safety nets and a stimulus for business is pointless, harsh and ridiculous.
Regime needs to test and to have a roll out plan for vaccines It does not. Lock down decisions should be made on science & science alone not authoritarian whim,” Hon Biti argued.

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Namibia has said Senator Morgen Komichi is a “hopeless daydreamer” who is desperate to please his handlers.
Senator Komichi shocked all and sundry when he claimed:”MDC Alliance belongs to us, everything that Morgan Tsvangirai left behind belongs us.”
However, the MDC Alliance dismissed Senator Komichi’s “reckless” comments.
See statement below:
“INHERIT YOUR NINE (9) BOGUS VOTERS NOT THE MDC ALLIANCE”, MDC ALLIANCE NAMIBIA FUMES AT THE DESPERATE MORGAN KOMICHI.
16 FEBRUARY 2021
Mdc Alliance Namibia wants to clear the dust from the desperate and careless statement from the national Chairperson of the Zanupf surrogate outfit Mdc t now led by Mwonzora Togarasei. We desire to make it very open that Komichi, Mwonzora, Khupe, Mashakada, Dumbu and cabal have betrayed the vision and ideology of the late Icon of Democracy Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai. By recalling our MPs and councillors from the mandate they were given by the social democrats in Zimbabwe, this frustrated team ceased to defend and promote Constitutional Democracy. It is foolish for ill-advised Komichi to think that he can paddle political lies discrediting our political mountain President Advocate Nelson Chamisa for his hard work to maintain the legacy of confrontation with Zanupf thugocrats.
In his insane remarks on the 3rd Anniversary since the death of our late paragon of virtue, Komichi said, “everything that belonged to Morgan Tsvangirai is ours, Nelson Chamisa doesn’t have supporters, they belong Tsvangirai”. It is quite pathetic to witness the highest level desperation from those who are masquerading as custodians of Tsvangirai’s legacy. How can the electorate be inherited by greedy Zanupf proxies who are working against the ideals and aspirations of the national democratic revolution. Mdc Alliance Namibia intends to clarify its position on these insane utterances since the electorate can’t be inherited by Zanupf surrogates who are working with enemies of the democratic project. Instead of inheriting the Morgan Tsvangirai House, Komichi and cabal should first inherit Save’s varlour and nerve to unite people in the big tent.
Moreover, Komichi and cronies must first remove their Zanupf political jackets for them to be accepted as defenders of the Tsvangirai legacy. How can we believe in people who are now friends to the clueless rogue Zanupf, the Herald and the Zbc? They are being celebrated by Zanupf supporters, Police, Soldiers, Cios and all captured securocrats for fighting against the Alliance which is the brainchild of our Father of Democracy. How can we be inherited by power greedy morons who have the audacity and tenacity to hire Zupco buses for party business? As a district , we emphasize that we never believed that the movement can be a one generation movement. Before he died , President Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai challenged us to keep the national democratic project alive. We shall continue to safeguard your idea of the politics of the big tent.
Moreso, Mdc Alliance Namibia is cognisant of the fact that our party is intact because of the annointed leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa. We saluted the mammoth political score achieved by our late Icon when he appointed the organic and pragmatic leader of the newly born Mdc Alliance at a juncture when he was struggling with colon cancer in 2017. The district is grateful to the decision as we imagine being administered by belly politicians leading the judicially-constructed MdcT who have sold our struggle to Zanupf for three pieces of silver. Komichi’s sadist talk demonstrates that their fake political party lacks ideological orientation that is why they have resorted to Politics of Plunder and Self-enrichment.
Furthermore, Mdc Alliance Namibia was chargrined and perplexed to hear rapacious Komichi claiming the ownership of the Mdc Alliance. It is very clear that Mdc Alliance is the real deal because of its confrontational approach to the national democratic discourse and that is what Zanupf surrogates must emulate. They can take everything including Vincent Tsvangirai but the genuine revolutionaries in Mdc Alliance will remain resolute . We are clear that as Mdc Alliance, we shall win Zimbabwe for complete change. Political capital can only be inherited by genuine revolutionaries who are not aligned to Zanupf Satanists. The late President advocated for unity before he passed on, he managed to unite all Mdc formations but soon after his death the ones who claim to defend his legacy want to hijack the People’s Project and surrender it to Zanupf. That is going to be resisted with equal measure.
