A Nyanga man is facing theft charges after he was caught wearing a local woman’s underpants.
Mr Handsen Mombeyarara from Chief Katerere’s Dzonya village, has been slapped with section 113 of the Criminal Law and Codification Act after he was found wearing Mrs Memory Simango’s underwear.
Charges are that on the 20th April, Mombeyarara was caught wearing the woman’s undergarments after he had been apprehended by villagers for trespassing into one Mr Tawanda Maye’s house. Memory Simango is a neighbour of the latter and allegations are that Mombeyarara took the woman’s underwear from the drying line during the night the previous day, 19th April.
Hearing the case magistrate Sekai Chiundura said the man’s mental case was a suspect cause to his unusual behaviour. She ordered that his mental health be examined. “Your behavior is not that of a normal person and so you must first go for a mental evaluation before trial starts,” she said.
Mombeyarara however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The State is being represented by prosecutor Shepherd Chawarira and the trial is set to be next heard on the 6th June.
