Harare – Zimbabwe’s Minister of Local Government Ignatious Chombo contradicted himself while speaking in riddles when he announced he had reversed the suspension of Harare Town Clerk Tendai Mahachi, ZimEye can reveal.
ZimEye which broke the story on Saturday morning before other media houses, can exclusively reveal what Chombo truly said of Harare mayor Manyenyeni which ‘has now led’ to him lifting the suspension.
Reporters have written saying that Chombo said Mayor Manyenyeni had accepted Mahachi’s apology. But this is not what Chombo actually said.
In the recording Chombo is heard clarifying his statement to mean “the mayor has accessed the apology,” and not necessarily accepted it.
Earlier however, Chombo had said:
“He(Mahachi) has explained to the Mayor and he has also apologized. The Mayor has accepted the apology and I was referee. ”
Manyenyeni then disputed with Chombo and insisting that the suspension had not been reversed.
In clarifying what he actually said Chombo then snooped in, “the mayor has accessed the apology,” said Chombo.
“Minister I beg to differ on that one. I think we need to engage further. I think lets capitalize on the good will that is existing so far and find a way forward but for now it would be remiss of me to accept that we have reversed that decision,” said Manyenyeni to Chombo.
Chombo then went ahead to further hint that what he is talking about is about Manyenyeni accessing the apology rather than accepting, as he said he had passed the decision already accessed by Manyenyeni and was only awaiting delivery of the written communication from the permanent secretary.
Chombo’s actions have attracted countrywide condemnation from people from all walks of life. He was also criticised by internet marketing protege Barbara Nyagomo who lashed out writing from her portal:
“Comrade Chombo reinstated the suspended Town Clerk of Harare who is on $37 000 per month DENG!,” wrote Nyagomo. She added:
“I am thinking both Chombo and the Town Clerk must thoroughly be investigated for corruption and unexplained wealth accumulation.
Each day that passes the Govt is losing public support. Its a rot system who is going to police the police, politicians and lawmakers when they all support Kleptocracy and Lootcracy?” RECORDING:

In that case there is no need for prisons cause one will just apologise before the judges and allowed to go home. what cheap governs is this.
A true and efficient government should never use apologies as its principles of operation. For example had Gumbura apologised that case would have been thrown out. Cuthbert Dube apologised to jonathan Moyo and got a golden handshake. The issue of 400 ghost workers at ZBC has been swept under the carpet Moyo now gets a slice of the cake. Corruption or genocide can be solved through apologies God forbid!
since we have a looking east policy, let us just adopt the chinese way of dealing with corruption vese ava vana chombo, mahachi, dube ,muchechetere and many more must be on firing squad, or even feed them all to starving dogs. The list is endless with most of them being ZANU PF card holders. Is this the manifesto ZANU PF was preaching?.I am sorry for the true founders and all who died for this country with all their heart and love for Zimbabwe.
It is because of western sponsored illegal sanctions that people are failing to receive adequate services in Harare. It is also important to know that Chombo is the only resonable minister who harnesses funds for Zanu Pf. City of Harare contributes a lot to coffers of Zanu Pf. ICHO!
Is Chombo the only minister capable of holding this portfolio. Magarisa VaChombo! Magutana nevanhu.
I would rather believe that the president is dead than believe that he is indifferent to all these happenings. Who is the captain of this boat? Chombo’s learned solution is a reversal of a suspension at 14K. Maiwe, nhai mhai kani and a housing allowance of 2.5K. Mashefu tinzwireiwo tsitsi–how come one man with stupidity makes a majority– where is the cabinet, where is the presidency– is there nobody not tainted by this corruption to stand up to Chombo and all the Shefus who want to support the insufferable shenenigans.
Please rule like wise men and for once feel for the common man, if you cant feel or political opulence has deadened your senses– please just pretend. You used to be called Karigamombe– vanaChombo, navese vasinanyadzi havauraye musangano weZANU if they are whipped into line– infact it strengthens ZANU. Am I the only one who sees an opportunity for national cleansing that will leave who ever starts this change a great man.
War veterans, here is a just cause or is the last freedom fighter a dead one–Chombo and any Minister who returns these thieves back to work should be relieved of their duties.
Are we to believe that there is no capable Zimbabwean to assume these duties? What would happen if this Town Clerk died– please. What is the point of allowing the press to report all this sleazy in Mining, ZBC, PSMAS, City Councils if nobody has the spine to clean house. Indeed , we are starting to think that these murky waters flow upstream – how else can one see it– facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored. Action is required otherwise all hope is lost.
Benjamin Disrael said ” In a progressive country change is constant; change is inevitable.” The time for change is now.
