There is complete chaos in Harare….Mujuru’s admission Mugabe’s rule is a “failure” has shaken the regime to the core.
Robert Mugabe and his information parrot Jonathan Moyo have been hit by former VP Mujuru and they will never recover from that state of not only panicking, but evidently also “packing”.
Mujuru’s statement this week dismissing Mugabe’s 35 years in power as a “failure” has raffled up the feathers of everyone at Zanu PF HQ as she struck the nail on the very head. Since Professor Moyo could not deny this, not in the light of the worsening economic meltdown, he decided to shut her up by threatening to arrest and to do worse!
“Aware of these and related treasonous allegations Mujuru boastfully but naively asks in her revealing statement why no charges have been preferred now six month after her expulsion,” shot back Professor Moyo.
“The answer is that the wheels of justice move at their own pace and both the arresting and prosecutorial authorities are constitutionally independent. Meanwhile, Mujuru is free to play with fire if she so wishes but mhosva haiwori (meaning a crime will never get forgotten),” Minister Moyo said.
Yes Professor Moyo we know that mhosva haiwori. We also accept that the arresting and prosecuting authorities must not arrest or prosecute anyone until they have the evidence, especially in a case where someone is being accused of a slew of charges including treason.
It is now almost a year since Grace Mugabe made the slanderous allegations against Mai Mujuru. And it is six month since the Zanu PF party leaders accepted the allegations as proven fact and punished Mujuru and many others. What is at issue here is what happened to one being assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law?
If the “wheels of justice move at their own pace” surely we must all, in the name of justice, adjust our pace so that no one ever get ahead of justice and rule of law! All of us here include Grace Mugabe and Zanu PF leaders include Mugabe himself for surely no one should ever be above the law and be a law unto themselves!
Professor Moyo’s threats were given in the wake of former VP Mujuru’s public admission that the last three and half decades of Zanu PF rule have been such a total “failure” she had to apologize to the nation for her role in that failure.
Many observers have predicted that Mai Mujuru’s statement was in fact the making of her “election manifesto” in her challenge for the office of state presidency in the next elections. To Professor Moyo anyone daring to challenge Mugabe and Zanu PF’s strangle hold on power is per se “playing with fire”!
There is nothing illegal about anyone contesting an election for public office; it is very Zimbabwean’s constitutional right to do so. It is Professor Moyo, Mugabe and all the other Zanu PF thugs who have turned this constitutional right on its head making it treasonous act punishable by harassment, beating, arrest and even death!
Freedom, justice, human rights, rule of law, protection of the law and all the other niceties many Zimbabweans fought for and many died for before independence have remained a myth in independent Zimbabwe. We have lived in fear all our lives; we feared the injustice of white colonial oppression. After independence we have continued to live in fear of intimidation, arbitrary arrest or worse at the hands of the lawless Zanu PF leaders and thugs assisted by the corrupted state institutions.
This is not the Zimbabwe we want!
The people of Zimbabwe want a free Zimbabwe ruled by law and not the whim of a tyrant. The drive for reform and regime change is now unstoppable; even if Professor Moyo repeated his “playing with fire” threat a thousand times a day, he will not stop the tide of change now sweeping the nation!

  1. Point taken but I am sure you will agree that Mujuru intentions are that the people should accept her apology and then go on to elect her president.

  2. The regime will do anything to remain in power and the regime knows that if street protests were to start with so many people on the street so it is emptying the streets in advance!

  3. For all the empty rhetoric People First will never be anything else other than Zanu PF mark 2; same corruption, same incompetence and same oppressive tendencies!

  4. What is tragic here is what you are saying should be obvious by now to everybody and yet so many people still do not understand any of it even after explaining it!

  5. If she had resigned because she objected to the looting of the nation’s resources that would have been brave. If she has resigned because she objected to rigging the elections and the slaughter of innocent people for selfish political gain; that would have been brave!

  6. Electing someone like Mujuru or Biti back into office will be a clear sign we have learnt nothing from our past mistakes!

  7. Professor Moyo told BBC Itai Dzamara was not abducted but went of his free will to Mozambique but the regime has had to eat humble pie when they failed to prove this was so. Having made such a statement the regime looked silly when it failed to provide any evidence to support the statement!

  8. Have Zimbabweans already forgotten about the ZANU PF iron lady who declared that those who accused parastatals executives of corruption were being used by Western powers to destroy the party ? She is just a corrupt opportunist fallen on political tough times. In any case she was made by Mugabe and he has since decided to dimantle his toy.She also vowed that she would never leave ZANU PFand what is ZANU PF other than Robert himself ? I will not speak.Silambe over !

  9. Patrick, I am not as stupid as you may think. Please dont rush to insults. Where in my contribution did you find me asking that Mujuru be made president or be given any post post-Mugabe?
If you knew me well, you’d never have said what you said about me.
All I said was that admission to failure and an apology was way better than keeping quiet. I just wish many more zanoids would introspect and desist from their wisked ways.
Me I will forgive anybody who ask for an apology. But that does not mean that I will forget. It does not even mean that the murders and violence and national resources looting that they did in the name of Zanu PF, will bring back the dead or a return of the loot. We acknowledge, accept the apology and move on as a nation, this time never to bring back the same old and tired evilmen that put us where we are.
And in accepting Mujuru’s apology vaGuramatunhu, I am not saying that she did not loot, was not complicit in everything wrong done by zanoids, no. I am giving her the benefit of doubt – maybe she was fighting the establishment from within-else how else can one explain where she is now. You Patrick think that Grace did a miracle by exposing Joice as if you did not already know the rot in Zanu PF. For me the only time I will salute Grace is when she points her middle finger directly to the man behind all this evil and we all know who.

  10. I agree with you 100% and that is what I was trying to say but failed to! Thank you for putting it more plainly and clearly!

  11. @ Isu zvedu
You are forgetting that Joice has enjoyed every second of her 34 years on the gravy train life, she has prospered economically beyond her wildest imagination! You talk as if the 34 year has been hell-on earth for her, which is nonsense. It was only when Grace was after her that she became uneasy.
She is apologizing now because she was thrown off the gravy train. She knows there a many naive and gullible people like you whose long time memory is counted in days not months, you will remember she said sorry and thus elect her back into power because you will have already forgotten her 34 years of looting
    and tyrannical oppression.
Only a first class idiot like you would think they are changing anything by electing the same corrupt and incompetent leaders.
We really have some of the most naive and stupid people on earth; after 35 years of having the same corrupt and incompetent idiots in
power they are bending over backwards to elect them back into power and still expect a different result, change. “If we Zimbos are destined to change things in life, then Mujuru’s apology is a good beginning.” indeed!

  12. Both Mujuru and Biti apologized for being caught with their hands in the cookie jar, that is not to say they will not help themselves to the cookies again if the get a chance. They said they are sorry because they know there are some naive and gullible people out there would will foolishly elect them back into power and thus entrust them with the cookie jar again!
Indeed both Mujuru and Biti have both their pockets stuffed full of cookies which they have no intention of sharing with anyone. They are only sorry that they no longer have access to the cookie jar and cannot wait to get back on the gravy train!

  13. In Zimbabwe you just need to eliminate five people then you will have lasting peace and a free and fair elections. Those with big moth like Jonathan Moyo are behind with time. Zimbabweans , they have already moved on and ZANU of its history. What will Moyo do without. The support of Mugabe and Chiwengwa? Moyo talks as if he knows everything that goes on in government and in the process he has stepped on the toes of very powerful people. I feel pity for this rack professor , Change is coming and its unstoppable Mr J Moyo.

  14. Has anybody tried to imagine being Joice Teurai Ropa Mujuru of 1980-2012? We need to be in her shoes before we jump into trashing her left, right and center.
There are those who say that Joice should have resigned. They think that if she did that, say in 1990, or even 2000, then they would have viewed her as a hero. I beg to differ. Joice would have fizzled to oblivion and by now, she would be dead even. Yet Joice lived on-perhaps fighting hard to make it right but failing.
There are those who think Joice should just shut up and not even apologize. Again I disagree. She did well on this one. And yes I wholly agree with Wilbert this time. Mujuru lived a horror lifestyle, eventually being asked to accept the death of her husband and bury the remains in a bag. All this under the watchful eye of the evil regime that had turned its guns at her head. Yet people here say she is a fat beneficiary of the system-she should have changed things? Really? How? Look at Grace receiving a fake degree and look at Kasukuwere, building a 50 bedroom mansion-still you expected the bionic woman to perform an 007 on a dictator that will not sleep until she is in the grave!
All I’m just saying is that Mujuru was so freekin brave to come out and apologize the way she did. If we Zimbos are destined to change things in life, then Mujuru’s apology is a good beginning.

  15. If she was aware and believed the Party , ZANUPF was failing since 1980, why did she hang on there? She could have joined MAGGIE DONGO, EDGAR TEKERE OR EVEN Tsvangiruza! The truth of the matter is that both Mutasa and MUJURU were ZANUPF in heart and policies!Period!

  16. It is not easy being a CIO these days; how does one keep up the mantra of we are implementing Zimasset plan, for example, when everyone knows the plan is dead because no one would fund it! So just as Professor Moyo is resorting to threatening Joice Mujuru and her followers our fiend Reason is resorting to shouting rubbish, rubbish!
Yes, these are tough times for spin doctors and CIOs and things are set to get a lot worse for them!

  17. Well done; you have made it very clear you disagree with everything Wilbert said but have failed to name even one thing. Surely you do not expect us the readers to accept that Wilbert is a drunkard high on weed just because you said so but failed to give even one reason!

  18. There way I see it there are two separate issues here:
    1) Is Joice Mujuru right in saying Zanu PF’s 35 years in government have been a “failure”? The answer to that is yes, there evidence of failure is everywhere and not even Professor Moyo, the party’s spin doctor would deny it.
    2) Does anyone believe that Mujuru was not aware of Zanu PF’s failures until now? Well only the very naïve one would believe that nonsense. Corruption has become rampant in the country and she has been leading
from the front in that. What she is hoping to achieve with her half-hearted
apology for her role in the corruption is that enough Zimbabweans will be
fooled into believing that she has changed. She has not changed, all she wants is to get back into power and continue the looting where she off!
To negotiate our way out of the political mess we are facing, one has to
understand the two facets to this story and react to each separately and appropriately.

  19. You can convince almost everyone that it is lamb and not mutton in their relish but no one can be fooled about the hot chilli! Of course President Mugabe’s 35 year rule has been a total “failure” there glaring evidence of that everywhere you look; everything is in advanced state of rot and decay.
The very fact that there millions on the streets is testament of the regime’s economic failures.
The regime is threatening to force vendors off the street; what a stupid proposition! Unemployment is 90% and selling whatever they can on the street is the only way these people eke a living. By forcing these people off the street will not work because these people have to earn a living and being vendors is the only way left for them to live!
Yes it is the economic meltdown that is going to force Zanu PF to give up power. It is the economy Professor Moyo should be threatening not Joice Mujuru or anyone else!

  20. Mujuru and Mutasa were in the government for 35 years . Why should it take Mujoy &Dhidhi three and half decades to know that ZANUPF is not good party? Are they taking Zimbabweans to be fools. At a rally in Masembura/Musana in year 2000, Mujuru prayed to God to reduce her life and add the years to President Mugabe. Will God be amused today as she and Dhidhi sour-grape sings?Only fools would believe them when they cry sour grapes hogwash ,hoping to get support from people to add another opposition party in the country. As Biti said, there are more fools in the opposition parties leadership. Biti apologized for being foolish also.

  21. WHAT A LOAD OF HALLUCINATIONS & WISHFUL THINKING!!…2018 is not very far away

  22. I just wonder. You call people “Professor, mai mujuru, VP, mr so & so” Is that respect? Just call people with their first names. He is Jonathan, not even a professor.

  23. have never seen a dull person like you attack what has been analysed with facts but not mere shouts. Vamwe vanhu so

  24. Nice read Will..short and sharp, unlike JM’s theses on every subject, tedious and boring.

  25. Do you honestly call this an analyst or a drunkard who after taking a concoction of zed, dagga, and anything intoxicating has just blinked from a comma condition and is trying to regain his senses. kikiki

  26. Well said and the fear of political competition shown by Jonathan is made worse by the scorn for dictatorship shown by Nigerian Jornos recently in Abuja! Chickens finally coming home to roost!!!
