The Zimbabwe Warriors team’s coach has broken down on its way to Malawi, ZimEye.com can reveal.
ZIFA has spoken in defence saying the bus was grounded only for a short period just after leaving Harare and the team is now safely on its way. ZIFA’s Information and Publicity boss Xolisani Gwesela confirmed the incident to ZimEye.com. He however assured the nation saying the problem was only temporary and the vehicle is now in full swing to Malawi.
“I can confirm, it was a minor problem though,” said Gwesela.
He continued, “…just after Harare, but it was hours back, hours back I think it was stopped for it was less than ten minutes or so. As you are aware a bus is a machine just like a human being you can get sick; I mean that problem was solved.
The team crossed border at around 2pm, so they are heading towards Mozambique and Malawi border.”
He said the team is set to arrive in Malawi at between 8.30pm and 9pm.
The team has to be well rested for the Malawi match Saturday at 4pm. ZIFA proffered assurance that the team’s spirits are back up after they were paid their allowances having yesterday refused to board the plane to the nation.
“What happened was an unfortunate scenario prior to that, but as you aware ZIFA is broke. There is no capacity funding as a national team…”
He added saying the team is not receiving any government funding “so its unfortunate that those guys failed to grasp that”.
