Government says private media journalists are the prime suspects in the burglary into Acting President Emerson Mnangagwa’s Ministry of Justice offices two days ago.
Speaking on the national broadcaster’s News Hour last night, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Chris Mushowe said that he has every reason to believe that journalists from the private media are responsible for burglary as the media has been writing stories on Mnangagwa.
Minister Mushowe added that the private media has been out digging at every little information that it can use against the Vice President probably in view of the succession battles within the ruling ZANU PF.
Mnangagwa’s office were unexplainably broken into by still unknown burglars whose motive is yet to be determined. There were no missing valuables in the office but evidence points that people having found their way into the office and perused through some records.
Political analysts have expressed mixed reactions to the burglary into the Acting President’s office. Some analysts completely disputed the burglary story calling it an attention seeking move by the Vice President to boost his Presidential campaign.
Others have questioned the security of the CIO and police saying if the country’s Vice President’s office could be broken into that easily, there is something seriously wrong. The Vice President has suffered three other burglaries before.
