President Robert Mugabe has flown off to South Africa for a university function.
Mugabe who flew out with a large group of hangers-on, arrived in South Africa to attend celebrations at Fort Hare University in South Africa.
He will join other heads of State, alumni and eminent persons from across Africa, to attend the university’s centenary celebrations tomorrow. President Mugabe was invited to the celebrations last month by new South Africa Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Mpakama Mbete when he presented his credentials.
President Mugabe was accompanied by Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Dr Chris Mushowhe and senior Government officials, among them Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba.
He was seen off at the Harare International Airport this afternoon by his two Vice Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, Cabinet ministers and service chiefs.
South Africa President Jacob Zuma will officiate at the celebrations. The celebrations started early this year, but tomorrow will be the main celebrations and hundreds of people from South Africa and across Africa are expected to grace the event.
