By Simba Chikanza| Former Minister Of Finance Ignatius Chombo is still in jail despite winning bail appeal.

Dr Chombo’s lawyer, Prof Lovemore Madhuku told ZimEye at 8.20pm Chombo could not obtain actual physical release from remand prison due to procedural constraints.

“He will be getting out in the morning, the procedures are that we have to make the payment, the bail and then surrender the travel documents, and that couldn’t be done because we only got judgement this evening,” he said.

Prof Madhuku also responded on wild allegations which say that Chombo was caught with $10million and that at the time of his capture by the army, he was attempting to fund mercenaries to kill army generals.  HEAR PROFESSOR MADHUKU SPEAKING TONIGHT  – refresh this page to watch…

Chombo has been in remand prison for the last two weeks after having been initially captured by the army and detained for 9 days and then re-arrested this time by the police.

High Court Justice Edith Mushore ordered that he surrenders his passport and the title deeds to his Harare home as part of the bail conditions.

He was also ordered to report three times a day at Malborough police station, and not interference with state witnesses.
