By Farai D Hove| As if the dishing out of over $5 million to a well known fraudster was not enough, ZESA has added salt to injury by punishing its own workers who protested against the fraud.

The development comes as Chivayo continues to walk scott free despite being liable for imprisonment as the Companies’ Act dictates.

Chivayo was more than 2 years ago given the $5 million plus lump sum to develop the Gwanda Solar project but to date only a partial fence has been erected, as ZimEye.com revealed earlier this year. ZimEye was first to tour the site in January – SEE VIDEO:

Zesa Holdings spokesperson Mr Fullard Gwasira says the company’s subsidiary, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has suspended eight  Energy Sector Workers Union of Zimbabwe (ESWUZ) without salaries and benefits for staging a demonstration last month.

Gwasira said, “There are eight members of staff who have been suspended for engaging in various illegal demonstrations between December 21, 2017 and February 28, 2018 and the company is within its right to discipline staff for infringement of internal labour statutes.”
