By Paul Nyathi|The opposition MDC-T is set for a major shake up as exiled founding young members begin making the great trek back home to claim their spaces in the party.
One of the MDC-T’s most active founding young members Tafadzwa Musekiwa jetted into the country on Saturday ending a fifteen year self imposed exile in the United Kingdom.
Musekiwa was elected as the youngest MP in Zimbabwe in the year 2000 at only 22.
Due to the heavy political violence in the country at that time, Musekiwa fled Zimbabwe later in 2003 to the United Kingdom fearing for his life after fellow legislator and best friend Job Sikhala and his lawyer was detained and tortured.
Besides numerous efforts by the MDC to have him return home and assume his legislative duties in parliament, Musekiwa resigned from his MP position in 2003. He was later spotted selling sculptures for survival in the UK.
Musekiwa comes back at a time when his best friend, Sikhala, has also bounced back to contest his former constituency Zengeza in the upcoming elections.
ZimEye.com could not immediately establish if Musekiwa had submitted his application to stand for elections as an MDC-T candidate.
