Chiredzi West Legislator Darlington Chiwa has alleged that serving members of the Zimbabwe National Army want to eliminate him before the July 30 elections.

Chiwa, a declared G-40 element is seeking to retain his seat as an independent candidate after being pushed out of the ruling party.

Presenting a report on the situation on the ground to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC ) yesterday, Chiwa claimed soldiers were deployed in Chiredzi to intimidate residents before the elections.

“In Chiredzi West Constituency, serving members of the army are participating in ruling party campaign programmes.

Last week they openly denounced my name and they promised to deal with me in an unspecified way,” said Chiwa.

Despite the threats, Chiwa has maintained he will win the elections.

“I hope ZEC will resolve the matter as soon as possible. All the same their threats will not deter our programmes,” said Chiwa.
