By Own Correspondent| The abrupt conclusion to the August 1 hearings by the Kgalema Motlanthe led Commission before summoning President Emmerson Mnangagwa is reflective of the team’s bias and unwillingness to expose those beyond the deaths of six civilians brutally murdered on August 1.

Kennedy Kaitano, a Zimbabwean citizen believes that bringing to an end the hearings at a time when Mnangagwa was supposed to take to the stand exposes the Commission’s bias.

Writes Kaitano in his letter to the Editor:

A very interesting observation is that during the initial hearings by the Mohlante-led Commission of Inquiry into the August 1, 2018 killings of innocent civilians by the army, the Commission said all those persons who had been named for involvement in the shootings would be brought before the Commission to explain themselves.
Emmerson Mnangagwa has been mentioned several times during the hearing, by Obert Mpofu, who confirmed that it was Emmerson Mnangagwa who ordered the army to be deployed to shoot unarmed civilians.
Realising that they could not continue to refuse to invite Mnangagwa to explain his position, the Commission abruptly closed the hearings, yet the person who instructed the army to shoot would have been the most important person to give evidence.
This is not the Zimbabwe that we want.
