Terrence Mawawa|Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s claims that his government has managed to revive Shabanie and Mashava Mines(SMM) are baseless, according to a former senior employee of the giant asbestos producing mine.

The former SMM official also blamed the government for using the draconian Reconstruction Act to grab companies.

“I was at the main plant in Mashava’s Gaths Mine some weeks ago, it’s lying idle and very few employees are there and the situation is hopeless.We used to get some projects there but now there is nothing. So many companies in Masvingo benefitted a lot from that mine,” said the former SMM official.

The government also seized Hwange Colliery and Air Zimbabwe under the controversial Act.
