Farai Dziva|Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday congratulated Nigerian President Muhamad Buhari for winning a second term in the country’s elections held recently.
However Mnangagwa is still embroiled in a legitimacy crisis he is battling to resolve.
With ballots counted in all of Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Buhari, 76, triumphed with some 15.2 million votes against his nearest rival Atiku Abubakar, who trailed by nearly four million votes.
“Congratulations Muhamad Buhari on your re-election as President of Nigeria. I wish you all the best as you continue to lead your country towards further progress and development, and fulfil the high hopes the people of Nigeria have placed in you,” said Mnangagwa.
Buhari’s victory was announced by Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday.
