Today we recognise the role played by our workers in our economy and society. Our workers are an integral cog as we restructure, reform and rebuild our economy, and we appreciate the contributions, hard work and sacrifices that you continue to make.

We are well aware of the challenges faced by the labour sector. We are committed to increasing the number of people in employment and to ensuring the dignity of all workers, through restoring your purchasing power, improving our transport system, housing delivery, and clean water, sanitation and energy provision.

Our freedom and independence was won through hard work, unity and sacrifice. Let us all therefore celebrate this 2019 Workers Day with renewed determination, solidarity and hope. With unity and hard work, we shall realise our goals.
