Lionel Messi was confronted by angry Barcelona fans after Liverpool’s dramatic Champions League comeback on Tuesday.
The Argentina international was forced to head home by himself after a random drugs test kept him at Anfield and his team-mates left without him.
At the airport the Barcelona forward was caught on camera making his way through security when he was berated by some travelling supporters.
Fans were understandably angry that Barcelona had crashed out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage for the second year running, after going into the away leg of the tie with a three-goal advantage.
Messi was a man on a mission in the first match at the Nou Camp, where he netted two goals in the 3-0 victory – the second a world-class free-kick from 35 yards.
He was largely quiet at Anfield, but was far from Barcelona’s worst player on the night and perhaps wrongly picked out for criticism.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Messi responded to the small group of fans who accosted him at the airport.

The paper reports that the Argentine asked the fans: “What’s your problem? What did I do wrong?” Messi is then said to have been guided away from the supporters by a Barcelona official.
Liverpool discovered their Champions League final fate on Wednesday night after Tottenham channeled the Reds to beat Ajax in their semi-final.
The north London club went into the second leg in Amsterdam trailing by a goal to nil before shipping two more goals to make their task near-impossible.
But a second half comeback, inspired by hat-trick hero Lucas Moura, saw Tottenham win the tie on the away goal rule, meaning they will play Liverpool in Madrid in June.
