By Dr Nkululeko Sibanda – Presidential Spokesperson | President Chamisa is gravely concerned with the food and health security situation in the country. He notes with great concern that these circumstances arise from the weak organisation of food security issues and mismanagement of the health services in the country. The poor performance and incompetence of the illegitimate government, in the administration of important issues of national security, is alarming and amounts to gross misconduct.
However, The President, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, is profoundly grateful for the support, coordination and assistance coming from the international community, to try and avert mass starvation for Zimbabwe’s rural communities.
He would like to thank the international community for continuing to fundraise and coordinate activities that will be crucial to saving millions of lives of the people of Zimbabwe.
The President extends the gratitude of the people of Zimbabwe, from across the political divide and send a warm message from the leadership of the MDC, in acknowledging the unseizing friendship of the world community.
President Chamisa also accepts the generosity of many countries of the world who have extended their hospitality and accepted many Zimbabwean diaspora communities that now call many countries their home. Similarly, President Chamisa salutes the Zimbabwean diaspora for continuing to avert starvation by sending food and support to their families and friends.
It is indeed a combination of the three, hardworking and industrious Zimbabweans, a friendly international community including South Africa, Zambia, Angola, USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, India, the UN, International NGOs, Botswana, among others and our Zimbabwean diaspora, that today hold the flag of humanity high, in averting a national disaster.
President Chamisa berates the uncouth activities of politicians that are using food donated to save all lives in Zimbabwe for electoral campaigns and political party purposes. Such activities must stop forthwith. He therefore encourages the international community to consider mechanisms to guard against the abuse of food aid by politicians. This is unacceptable and must be considered as a crime against humanity.
