By Farai D Hove | Justice Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi has threatened saying that MDC MPs will loose their vehicles on the day they resign, the ultimate of forcing them to salute Emmerson Mnangagwa as winner of the disputed 2018 elections. This came as Zimbabweans based in foreign lands at the weekend launched a fundraising initiative to rescue MDC grassroot members, councilors, as well as members of Parliament who are now trapped.

There was also a video of the ZANU PF national commissar Victor Matemadanda threatening the same MPs with hunger.

Matemadanda was speaking shortly after the MDC Alliance resolved to pull its members out of the august house reacting to the continuing strangulation in which they have among other things been deprived of their allowances, and so far four have been removed on instructions of the renegade senator, Douglas Mwonzora.

A campaign to rescue the MPs had raised USD1100 in the space of 2 hours Saturday night.

Said Matemadanda:

They want to withdraw their members why do they tell us? What’s that got to do with us, another persons children sleeping on empty stomachs? … If their party is Chamisa and they want to go hungry because he’s been removed by the Supreme Court, we’ll just go ahead and run the country.

Meanwhile Ziyambi said, “they are free to resign and by-elections will be conducted.

“Those who are saying there is no need for by-elections are misguided.”

“In our Constitution, there is no provision which allows the nomination of legislators. There is need for by-elections.

“Everyone is free to contest in the by-elections. For proportional representatives and senators, the party will nominate the replacements if they resign.”

Meanwhile, speaking to the Daily News, Ziyambi said,

“If they resign now they are also required to pay the duty for their cars because they didn’t pay for it, as it was a privilege.

” Apart from paying this duty, they are also supposed to settle the whole amount for the cars.

“This is not going to be settled in five years. They must settle the whole amount the day they resign,” he added.
