TWO MDC Alliance Activists, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova are likely to be tried separately from their compatriot Joana Mamombe.

The trio appeared in court this Monday where the State represented by Michael Reza filed an application seeking permission to separate Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova’s trial from that of Joana Mamombe.

The State told the court that the trio which is facing charges of publishing false statements and faking abduction should be tried separately to allow Mamombe who is not mentally fit to continue receiving treatment while the other two stand trial.

Regional Magistrate Bianca Makwande postponed the ruling of the state’s application to this Thursday and ordered the defense to produce Mamombe’s medical report for her ongoing treatment.
