Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance has dismissed Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s assertion that Zimbabweans should be proud of the freedom they are enjoying in the so called second Republic.
In his speech at the National Heroes Acre on Thursday, Mr Mnangagwa claimed Zimbabweans were enjoying the fruits of the liberation struggle.
“We shall forever be grateful for the sacrifices you made for your beloved country. Today we stand proud as a free, independent and visionary people… we will run the race from where you left off, inspired by your courage to liberate and develop Zimbabwe,” said Mr Mnangagwa.
Below is the MDC Alliance’s response to Mr Mnangagwa’s remarks:

Mdc Alliance Namibia is absolutely disturbed by the speech delivered by the Zanupf President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa when he eulogised the deceased government officials at the National Heroes Acre.
It is foolhardy to be convinced that Zanupf is committed to accomplish the unfinished business of the liberation struggle when opposition activists and journalists are being butchered for fighting against corruption, looting and gross abuse of human rights in Zimbabwe. It is quite pathetic to witness political hypocrisy in the purported democratically elected President when we are conscious to the fact that in Zimbabwe, the freedom of expression, assembling and association is severely restricted by Zanupf terrorists. Social democrats are cognisant of the need to fight for genuine independence not the phoney one.
Moreover, the objective for engaging in the liberation struggle was to eradicate poverty therefore Zanupf leadership must take us out of this abject poverty if they want us to believe in their dedication to set us free. Looking at the extreme poverty which reached 40% of the population in 2019, up from 30% in 2017, urban poverty rising faster (from 4% to 10%) than rural poverty. We demand real or authentic independence that emerges not from a negotiated settlement but the reappropriation of people power , justice , freedom and One-Man-One-Vote.
Looting and corruption do not reflect independence but a further promotion of the national bourgeoisie. Zanupf must stop eating on behalf of the citizenry instead as an expected independent people, we demand a fair distribution of the national cake by greedy belly politicians.
Furthermore, in its 2006 Freedom in the World report, Freedom House finds that Zimbabwe was already very poor in terms of freedom of expression and freedom of press which has deteriorated still further. To date , we are still witnessing the incarceration of journalists unravelling a satanic censorship of the media to put it on mute so that they don’t criticise the autocratic Zanupf government. Zimbabwe both under the late Robert Mugabe and his predecessor Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa violated the rights to shelter , food , freedom of movement and residence, freedom of assembly and the rule of law. We saw thousands of people’s houses being ruthlessly demolished in Budiriro, Glenview, Chitungwiza only to mention but a few. This does not reflect independence and freedom. #ZanupfMustGo.
Moreso, opposition gatherings are frequently the subject of brutal attacks from captured police force trying to silence dissenting voices. The arbitrary arrests, torture, detention without trial and abuse of the will of the people by biased Zec and captured Parliament do not resemble independence and freedom. As we speak right now, we are missing our Vice-Chair Job SaroWiwa Sikhala, Allan Moyo, Last Maengahama, Tungamirai Madzokere, Investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono and all prisoners of conscience in detention for speaking against Zanupf shenanigans. In short, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is worser than the Smith regime.
2002, June 2008, 01 August 2018, January 2019, the abduction of the MdcTrio unearthed Zanupf’s insatiable appetite to impose a One-party state in Zimbabwe through their crackdown on voices of the voiceless in the Motherland.All these years were characterized by widespread systematic and escalating violations of human rights in Zimbabwe under the duo between 1980 to date. Violent elections succeeded each from the year 2000 to date. These bloody elections do not epitomise freedom and independence. We demand an end to cancerous electoral fraud. It is imperative for all social democrats to demand real emancipation not this flag independence.
To top it off,Mdc Alliance Namibia urges all Zimbabweans to pent up their outrage demanding justice and genuine democratic freedom after colonialism.
Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa must know that his clueless regime must sober up and halt their propaganda about independence since Zimbabweans are suffering from Zanupf morons more than what transpired to them under Ian Douglas Smith. The only hope for Zimbabwe is the Mdc Alliance led by the able President of the people Advocate Nelson Chamisa, our political mountain.
