By James Gwati- The Zimbabwe Republic Police said they have arrested more than 25 400 illegal panners and machete gangs.

ZPR spokesperson Paul Nyathi, said they have intensified their clampdown against Makorokoza who are now called Mashurugwi.

But observers argue that those the police arrest and cause them to be prosecuted would have resisted paying some bribes for their freedom.
