By James Gwati- The panicking Emmerson Mnangagwa regime has deployed armed police details in the Central Business District and high-density suburbs in fear of a possible mass protest by the opposition MDC-Alliance.

The decision by Mnangagwa to deploy armed police followed Friday’s statement by his Home Affairs Minister, Kazembe Kazembe, that the Nelson Chamisa led MDC-Alliance could today stage a mass protest in the capital.

“My ministry has directed the Commissioner-General of Police (Godwin Matanga) to take action on some political activists, individuals and civic organisations being fronted by the MDC Alliance and have openly threatened to engage in a series of illegal demonstrations dubbed ‘The Winter Jest’,” Kazembe told journalists on Friday.

“The police and other security services will be on high alert and ready to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. May I warn those who are planning and coordinating these illegal demonstrations that the law will take its course.
