By A Correspondent- A female cashier of a Liquor Supplies at Ascot Centre in Bulawayo was last night shot dead during what is described as a robbery and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) attended the scene.

Sources said the robbers, whose number could not be ascertained, also got away with an undisclosed amount of money and police have since launched a manhunt. The cashier was shot in the head and died on the spot.

Reacting to the tragedy, Zimbabweans on social media called for action against the ever-increasing armed robbery cases. We present some of the responses below.

_Tag all mashonaland people to come and identify they’re relative. No ndebele should panic because we are all unemployed._

  • @zanupfmustgo @Lungisa25628502

_The crime level is appalling, it’s unacceptable that police fail to deal with crime in a small county like Zim. The same police are readily available to arrest you for posting a tweet or a WhatsApp status. That’s a shame! The entire department needs a total overhaul._

  • George @Gift88574510

_Under @edmnangagwa gun crime has escalated to unprecedented proportions, crime is a sign of high unemployment & perpetual inequality. ZRP are quick to arrest harmless women political activists whereas real criminals are Scott free. Zimbabwe like RSA is turning into a crime scene._

_Kanti what is the Army doing all over the country?_

  • Nfanomkhulu @mwwwn201

_Beating civillians._

  • Dube T @DubeThulaniYes

_Bulawayo is becoming a Crime Scene Daily._

  • Nigel @nigelforsyth4

_Police failing to deal with crime._

  • wellingtons @MavhungaTW

_A very Sad development, Security must be a priority at all business premises, use Artificial Intelligence to detect any metals among any individual at your premises and act swiftly to disarm such violet robbers._

  • Jonathan @jonijonathanp

_May they get caught and face harsh consequences. Such heinous crimes have no place in our lovely Zimbabwe._

  • Referee @RefereeFly

_They should have already been closed according to Level1 guidelines. Employer must account for putting his staff in that situation! @PoliceZimbabwe your roadblocks have been conspicuous by their absence in Bulawayo lately these are the results!_

_So sad ,,, rest in eternal peace aunt Thando. Such a bubbly woman who was vibrant always. Will miss you dearly_
