By A Correspondent- The Zanu PF government this week ahead of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s visit to Bulawayo, spruced up the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo statue which his family rejected in 2010.

The statue was mounted in December 2013 at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street.

The late Vice-President Joshua Nkomo’s family and the Bulawayo community in 2010 refused to honour the veteran politician’s statue saying that it did not meet certain standards, which included the size of the pedestal and the country which made it.

But Zanu PF ignored these complaints and went ahead to erect the statue.
