By A Correspondent- Uburn groove musician Maskiri, whose real name is Alicious Masimbe’s single Mbinga from Binga has sparked debate on social media with several topics to discuss.
The major topic was about the reignited story of Tapiwa Makore, a young boy who made headlines after his corpse was buried without a head.
Some felt the rapper’s lyrics with the line: “…handina musoro kunge Tapiwa Makore..” were disrespectful to the dead and the grieving Makore family.
Though some were angered by the line, some defended it as a way of expressing how the system failed Makore’s family.
Maskiri, however, explained his line about Tapiwa when contacted by H-Metro.
“This is figurative language. Tapiwa was found without a head, and it pained me too. My heart bleeds for Tapiwa.
“In music, especially rap which has figurative language and anecdotes to present your art and expression, some people might not understand you.
“And also music had no boundaries when expressing your feelings,” said Maskiri.
