By A Correspondent| The opposition MDC Alliance has congratulated the newly elected President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema saying his victory is a triumph for democracy in light of growing authoritarian consolidation of power witnessed in Zimbabwe and Swaziland among other countries.

MDC Alliance Secretary for International Relations, Gladys Hlatywayo said her party takes lessons from the Zambian polls in terms of orderly organization, high voter turnout and respecting the will of the people.
