A Beitbridge man, Nigel Masona, appeared before the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court on charges of aggravated unlawful entry.
On October 20, 2024, the complainant had secured his home by locking all doors before leaving with his wife.
While they were away, a neighbour called to inform him of a suspected intruder at his property.
Upon further investigation, the complainant learned that the intruder was his brother-in-law.
When he returned home, he found that the door had been forcibly opened, and ZAR 4,900 was missing.
A police report was filed, leading to Masona’s arrest.
At his trial, the accused was sentenced to 24 months in prison, with four months suspended for five years.
Another four months were suspended on the condition of restitution. He will serve an effective sentence of 16 months.
