By Lifestyle Reporter-First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has revealed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s eating habits, revealing his penchant for meat and traditional dishes.

Speaking on the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), Auxillia disclosed that the President insists on having meat with every meal.

She added that Mnangagwa has a particular fondness for dried kapenta fish (commonly known as matemba) paired with milk.

This revelation has sparked curiosity as it contradicts Mnangagwa’s statements from two years ago, when he publicly encouraged Zimbabweans to prioritize vegetables and potatoes over meat for health reasons.

At the time, he had declared meat unhealthy and promoted plant-based eating as a path to better well-being.

Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana posted the First Lady’s remarks on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “When the @ZimFirstLady was asked about the President’s favorite food, she said there must be some meat somewhere among the dishes, but what he likes most are ‘matemba nemukaka’. On the streets, we call that keeping it real.”

The contradictions in Mnangagwa’s dietary preferences have reignited conversations about the President’s health and the authenticity of his past health advice to citizens.

While Auxillia’s comments paint a picture of a leader who enjoys traditional Zimbabwean cuisine, questions remain about how closely his diet aligns with the health-conscious image he has previously tried to project.

The mix of indulgence and tradition in Mnangagwa’s eating habits offers a glimpse into Mnangagwa’s personal life while also highlighting the nuanced relationship between public messaging and personal choices.
