Namibia’s Supreme Court has unanimously dismissed a legal challenge by two opposition parties seeking to annul the results of the November 2024 presidential election.

Chief Justice Peter Shivute, delivering a summary of the 80-page ruling, affirmed that President Nangolo Mbumba had the legal authority to extend voting hours at polling stations that experienced ballot shortages and equipment failures.

The court further ruled that the decision to extend voting at only 36 out of 4,699 polling stations was not discriminatory or biased in favor of the ruling SWAPO party.
