By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A male lion has been killed hours after Chinhoyi town’s schools were briefly shut on Thursday morning.

The lion was found in Romwe Estates, also known as Baguta, and has since been shot dead, residents told ZimEye.

Earlier in the day the department of national parks and wildlife had issued a statement that the animal caught on camera was not at all a lion.

Later in the day, their updated statement could not be obtained at the time of writing, after images surfaced of a lifeless male lion bleeding profusely.

It was not clear at the time of publishing if the lion is the same that was caught on CCTV camera earlier, the previous night.
