Reports reaching ZimEye claim that even in the midst of police intimidation and harassment, women came out in large numbers and beat their pots and pans in protest against hunger and government’s poor policies. Some of the female leaders who organised were at the time of writing being looked for by the police.
“Thousands marched peacefully in Kwekwe today defying Police refusal to grant clearance. At the end police used water canon and tear gas to disperse people as they gathered to be dispersed by leaders,” read the report.
It is also reported that there have been arrests although ZimEye.com had no names at the time of going to press.
