A 29-year- old Gutu woman surprised all and sundry when she murdered her father-in-law following a dispute over an egg.

Police yesterday confirmed the death of an elderly in Mazuru Area, Gutu District following a heated argument that was triggered by the breaking of an egg.

The woman, Susan Gondo was harvesting ripe grain in her field when she heard a strange noise emanating from her hut and she asked her younger sister to check what was transpiring.

“The 81-year-old man entered the kitchen hoping to find something to eat.

He knocked down some plates breaking the egg that was on the shelve in the process.

Upon realising what had happened Gondo took a log and hit her father-in- law on the back of the head.

The elderly man was rushed to Gomba Clinic where she died on admission,” said Acting Masvingo Provincial Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa.
