Own Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) multiparty liaison committee meeting with political parties participating in the July 30 elections yesterday ended prematurely after a member of the opposition #1980FreedomMovement demanded the resignation of ZEC Chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba.
Dr Francis Danha, a medical doctor by profession who is contesting for the Makoni West Legislator seat disrupted the meeting on the grounds that ZEC had already rigged the election hence any attempts by the elections body to legitimise the elections and it’s outcome should be condemned.
“We only managed to field 18 out of the 120 candidates and our candidates were disqualified because ZEC did not give us the provisional voters roll so those that nominated our candidates either did not appear on the roll or they simply appeared in different constituencies,” he charged, while declaring that the meeting had been called off.
Efforts for Danha to afford other political parties’ representatives to speak were futile as he started chanting revolutionary songs emphasising that the ZEC Chairperson Justice Chigumba should resign forthwith.
