By Own Correspondent| Journalist Grace Chirumanzu was crowned Sportswoman of the Year at an event attended by Sports minister Kirsty Coventry.

Chirumanzu, a karateka beat fellow karateka and kickboxer, Kudakwashe Chiwandire.

Said Chirumanzu

“I was crowned Sportswoman of the year at the Annual National Sports Awards, last night. I feel so honoured l am happy with the achievement. I got to prove to myself that dreams can be achieved at whatever point in life if you want something so bad, see everything as a possibility.

Thanks to Shihan Samson Muripo for introducing me to this sport l love, Karate ?. Joe Dzikiti thank you for being an amazing husband who did not restrict me to the kitchen. Chirumhanzu family thank you for being my cheerleading squad. All my facebook friends, l thank you for the appreciation and believing in me.

These are happy moments that makes us proud to be Zimbabwean even in times of difficulties.”
