By A Correspondent- Four organisations including the Tafadzwa Musarara led Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ), Denford Mutashu led Confederations of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) and Bulawayo United Residents Association (BURA) have filed an urgent application to Stop the opposition MDC Bulawayo demonstration set for tomorrow permanently.

The organisations sued both the Police and the opposition MDC.

Read part of the relief sought by the organisations in their Urgent High Court application:

“….the first respondent (MDC) is permanently prohibited from carrying out and convening any public demonstration and procession in terms of 1st respondent’s notice dated 8th of August 2019 until such time that the 2nd respondent (ZRP) either imposes the appropriate obligations in terms of Section 26 (6) of the Public Order and Security Act or issues a Prohibition in terms of Section 26 (9) of the Public Order and Security Act.

Details on the reasons of the court action are however not yet clear but it is widely believed to be part of a ploy by the ruling Zanu PF to stop the demonstration from proceeding the same way that this was done for the August 16 demonstrations in Harare Friday.
