Own Correspondent|The MDC Alliance has called for an urgent meeting of all its members of parliamentary on Monday to decide the future of Alliance MPs in the National Assembly.

The meeting comes after the party’s Standing Committee met on Wednesday and resolved to withdraw all its parliamentarians from both houses after four of their colleagues were withdrawn from parliament.

On Tuesday, National Assembly and Senate Speakers, Jacob Mudenda and Mabel Chinomona, respectively, expelled four MDC Alliance MPs, Charlton Hwende, Kuwadzana MP; Prosper Mutseyami, Chikanga/Dangamvura; the party’s national chairperson, Thabitha Khumalo; and Senator Lilian Timveous.

The expulsion followed a letter that reinstated MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora wrote to Parliament recalling the four legislators.

Senior MDC Alliance officials have described the expulsions of its MPs as part of a broader plot by State President and Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa to destabilise the operations of the main opposition party in Zimbabwe.

Party sources though said that the MPs are solid and united behind the party President, Nelson Chamisa.
