Obadiah Moyo HEALTH and Child Care Minister Obadiah Moyo is appearing before a Harare magistrate where he faces three charges of criminal abuse of office.
Moyo faces criminal abuse of duty as a public officer as defined in section 174 (1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
The State seeks to oppose bail, saying the Minister is facing a lengthy period in jail if convicted, and therefore might abscond if released.
The State further says it has a strong case against Moyo, and that there is a huge public outcry over the scandal the accused is allegedly involved in. As a result, says the State, his release would jeopardize public confidence in the justice delivery system of the country.
