The Confederation of African Football (CAF) insists that it plans to still hold its continental flagship tournament in January of 2021 as it cancelled August and September qualifiers.

Caf cancels Aug-Sept Afcon qualifiers
Caf acting Secretary-General Abdel Bah announced quite optimistically that the qualifying campaign for the Africa Cup of Nations(Afcon) will now return in October and complete in November should everything goes according to the plan.

All international matches have been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has restricted international travel as well as limiting sports played in most countries.

For Zimbabwe, it could come as a blessing as they battle to get their stadiums approved for hosting international matches.

With the focus still on getting Cameroon to host the finals in January of 2021, it remains to be seen how the qualification process will be sorted out.
