By Showbiz Reporter- Two security guards were fired after they escorted Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo from a bank in Central Harare.

Chivhayo had been mobbed by scores of people at the bank on Monday, hoping he would hand out cash.

Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and public cash giveaways, was spotted entering the bank, drawing a large crowd.

As he exited through the back entrance and made his way to his car, dozens of people surrounded him, either hoping for money or simply excited to see him.

The incident led to the dismissal of two security guards employed by Safeguard after they were seen escorting Chivayo to his vehicle.

The guards, identified as Gunner Chitsatsva and a colleague known only as Zvirawa, were accused of acting unprofessionally by appearing to provide security to the businessman.

Safeguard manager, identified only as Gwatidzo, confirmed their dismissal, stating that their actions misrepresented the company.

“As a company, we do not have a contract with Chivayo, and the two had no right to offer him security when they were supposed to be manning the premises,” said Gwatidzo. “The video circulating on social media did not reflect well on our organization since they were in uniform. Kana mukariwonawo video racho, vashandi vedu vakangavakatoti kwati kwati vachidzivirira vaChivayo.”

One of the dismissed guards’ wives expressed frustration over the decision, alleging that social media comments influenced her husband’s punishment.

“Someone assumed my husband received money from Sir Wicknell Chivayo, but he got nothing. They were only trying to manage the crowd and prevent people from pushing towards Chivayo while he was withdrawing his money,” she told H-Metro. “Now he has lost his job, and our children are suffering.”

Attempts to reach the dismissed guards for comment were unsuccessful.
