Kisinoti Mukwazhe Loses Challenge On Mnangagwa

Kisinoti Mukazhe

The President is obliged by the law to proclaim dates for the harmonised election within the prescribed period and neither a court of law nor any individual, for whatever reason, can stop him from performing such a mandatory function, Chief Justice Luke Malaba has ruled.

Chief Justice Malaba said this while dismissing an application by two fringe opposition political parties to be allowed to approach the Constitutional Court where they sought an order barring President Mnangagwa from proclaiming the 2018 election date.

Zimbabwe Development Party (ZDP), led by Kisinoti Mukwazhe, and Voice of the People (VOP) — whose president is Moreprecision Muzadzi — sought to stop the President from proclaiming the election date until they get funding for the poll campaign.

The two parties also sought an order compelling Treasury to pay $420 000 to political parties that did not receive funding for 2008 and 2013 election campaigns.

Chief Justice Malaba said proclamation of the election date in terms of Section 144 (1) as read with Section 158 (1) (a) of the supreme law, was mandatory and it could not be stopped for whatever reason.

The court ruled that the intended application had no prospects of success.

The court ruled that a proclamation can only be challenged after it has been made, solely on the ground of non-compliance with the Constitution.

ZDP and VOP argued that the election will never be free, fair and credible until the Political Parties Finance Act is amended to allow all political parties in the race to receive campaign funds.

The Judiciary boss ruled that any court order stopping such a lawful process was contrary to the rule of law.

“No one, including the courts, has power to alter what is mandated by the Constitution in clear, unambiguous and mandatory terms.

“It would be unconstitutional for a court or judge to order the President not to call and set dates for the holding of the harmonised general elections as prayed for by the applicants.

“The mandatory obligation is imposed on the President by the Constitution for the benefit of all the people of Zimbabwe,” he said.

Chief Justice Malaba said the President is guided by the Constitution.

“It is the Constitution itself which dictates what the President must do. The proclamation is directly demanded by the Constitution. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land and the courts cannot abrogate it.

“Their duty is to enforce what the Constitution demands,” reads the judgment.

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) lawyer Mr Tawanda Kanengoni convinced the court that any challenge linked to proclamation can only be made after the act.

“As correctly submitted by Mr Kanengoni, the proclamation can only be challenged after it is made and the challenge can only be on the ground that it has not complied with the relevant provisions of the Constitution,” the Chief Justice ruled.

The minority wanted President Mnangagwa to be ordered to facilitate the repealing of the Political Parties’ Finance Act to ensure all parties compete on a level playing field.

The parties listed President Mnangagwa, Speaker of Parliament and the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission as respondents.

ZANU PF Agrees On Election Date? Is It July 28?

President Emmerson Mnangagwa to announce election date

By Paul Nyathi|Highly reliable sources with the ruling ZANU PF have revealed that the party’s top leadership has agreed that elections will be held on Saturday the 28th of July 2018.

The sources told ZimEye.com in confidence that President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be announcing the election date on the 1st of June calling on the nomination court to sit on the 14th of June 2018.

According to the sources President Mnangagwa has been waiting for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to conclude the voter registration and verification process and finalisation of the voters roll.

ZEC will conclude the voters roll inspection exercise on Tuesday.

The sources further claimed that Mnangagwa has also been waiting for the finalisation of the amendments to the electoral bill which will be signed into law this week for the law to be used in this year’s elections.

Zimbabwe last held elections on the 31st of July 2013 and were won by former President Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF party. Mugabe was forced to resign from his position before completing his term by the military in a smart coup in November 2017.

BIZARRE STORY: Drama As Prophet And Goblin Engage In Five Hour Bloody Battle

The bruised Tsikamutanda on course

By Paul Nyathi|Residents of Cowdray Park high density suburb of Bulawayo were on Monday evening taken through an intriguing five hours of drama as a prophet went through a bloody battle with a creature presumed to be goblin he attempted to exorcise.

The prophet had been invited by the residents to “remove” the suspected goblin from a house belonging to a man who residents identified as a Mr Gumbo after they had been exposed to over two weeks of horrific attacks from the goblin.

The residents claimed that the goblin attacked them with stones shuttering windows and roofing of neighbours and also attacked people passing by the area with the stones.

“We could no longer stand the attacks by the goblin and so decided to contribute money as residents and invited the witch hunting prophet known as Tsikamutanda to exorcise the goblin,” said a resident who spoke to ZimEye.com correspondents.

“The prophet identified Mr Gumbo’s to be housing the strange creature but Gumbo initially denied having the thing in his house,” said the resident.

However, after applying his magic charm the goblin is reported to have emerged from Gumbo’s house leading to a protracted battle with the prophet.

The prophet was pelted with stones on the head and all over his body by the invisible creature leaving him bleeding badly.

The prophet conceded an initial defeat and fled the house after Gumbo had also joined his goblin and chased the prophet out of the house in rage.

When ZimEye.com correspondents got to the house Gumbo had closed off his house and was reportedly demanding that the huge crowd that had gathered around his house disperse and allow the prophet to deal with the goblin in a private ceremony.

Highlanders Coach Arrested For Beating Up His Wife

Mandla Mpofu

Highlanders Football Club assistant coach Mandla Mpofu has been arraigned to the courts for beating up his wife after accusing her of driving his car without his consent.

Mpofu (44) punched his wife Ms Nqobile Tshuma (40) twice and violently pulled her out of the car at their place of residence at Margdan Flats along 14th Avenue and Fort Street in Bulawayo.

She had driven the car to a friend’s place to attend a funeral without his consent.

Mpofu pleaded guilty to charges of physical abuse before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Adelaide Mbeure.

He said he punched his wife out of anger and apologised for his actions.

“I had no intention of causing her any bodily harm. I was angry and I am sorry,” he said.

The magistrate fined him $100 or one week in jail.

Ms Tshuma wrote an affidavit where she stated that she had forgiven her husband.

For the State, Mr Maclean Ndlovu said on May 2 at around 7AM, Ms Tshuma drove her husband’s car without his consent and went to attend a funeral.

“On the same date at around 12 noon, she came back home and parked Mpofu’s vehicle. Later on, the two had a misunderstanding as Mpofu was asking his wife why she had driven his car without his consent,” Mr Ndlovu said.

“Mpofu got angry and punched his wife twice on the cheek. He forcibly pulled her out of the vehicle. The accused person had no right to act in the manner he did.”

The court heard that she reported the matter at Bulawayo Central Police Station and did not seek medical treatment.- state media

MP Who Kicked Mnangagwa Ball Into Bush Recalled From Parliament

The Zanu PF MP who performed a bhora musango (kicked president Emmerson mnangagwa’s ball into the bush) at the weekend is set to be recalled from parliament.

The party’s Midlands Province is working on recalling Kwekwe Central Member of Parliament, Masango “Blackman” Matambanadzo after he announced his defection from the revolutionary party at the weekend to join opposition New Patriotic Front (NPF) led by Brigadier-General Ambrose Mutinhiri (Retired).
Matambanadzo was not allowed to contest in the revolutionary party primary elections after his CV was rejected by the province.

He then attended an NPF rally in Kwekwe at the weekend where he announced he will be contesting Kwekwe Central on an NPF ticket in the harmonised elections.
In an interview yesterday, zanu-pf Midlands provincial spokesperson, Cornelius Mupereri said the provincial leadership had called for an emergency meeting to deliberate on the matter.
“We are meeting today (yesterday) to deliberate on Matambanadzo’s fate, but as it stands he has automatically expelled himself from the party so we will be just making it a formality to write to him,” he said.

Mupereri said the provincial leadership was also working on recalling Matambanadzo from Parliament.
“He is a member of Parliament representing zanu-pf so by joining the opposition he ceases to be our member so we will be recalling him from Parliament,” he said.

The party spokesperson said the revolutionary party was not fazed by the crowds that attended the NPF rally in Kwekwe saying the party was going to an election more united than ever.

“Under the new dispensation, the party has grown stronger and in this election, we are going there stronger as ever,” he said.

Mupereri said the party will also write to Matambanadzo to return all party property that he has been using as the sitting MP.

Contacted for comment, Matambanadzo confirmed joining the NPF saying he was being pushed out of zanu-pf by what he described as “greedy and selfish” individuals from the party’s provincial leadership..

He accused some party officials of holding personal grudges against him, which led to his disqualification.
“If you ask them why they disqualified me and blocked me from contesting the primary elections, they will not give you an answer.

“They are just selfish individuals who think they own the party,” he said.- state media

VIDEO: Mugabe Hangs On Rope

Former president Robert Mugabe is now hanging handum in a rope after he failed to appear at Parliament yesterday. SEE VIDEO:

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy has resolved to send a final letter to Mugabe after he snubbed a hearing on Chiadzwa diamonds for the second time yesterday amid reports that he could be arrested for contempt of Parliament if he continues defying the August House.

The committee said it does not seek to embarrass Mr Mugabe but he faces arrest for contempt of Parliament like the late MDC legislator, Mr Roy Bennet, who was sentenced to one year in jail with hard labour in 2005 for assaulting then Justice Minister, Cde Patrick Chinamasa.
Mr Mugabe is expected to explain his claim that that the country could have lost US$15 billion from Chiadzwa diamond fields.

Committee chairperson and Norton legislator Mr Temba Mliswa said they were hoping that Mr Mugabe would respond to the final letter failure to which he faces contempt of Parliament charges.

“We were expecting the former President, Cde Robert Mugabe, to appear before us as a result of letters that had been written to him requesting his person to be here at 2PM today. He has not attended today’s session. As a result the committee resolved to write to him for the last time because Parliament writes to you twice and then they will summon you,” said Mr Mliswa.

He said the committee unanimously agreed to write to him to appear on June 1 at 2PM.
“In that notification to him, we will also state certain provisions of the Standing Order Rules that attendance before Parliament and Evidence is compulsory. Parliament or a committee by way of summons issued in Section 2 can order a person to appear before it. We will remind him of that.

“These are some of the tenets of the Parliamentary Standing Orders that we will include to remind him that failure to attend, we will have no choice but to summon him, something that we regret doing and we hope not to do. As the former President of Zimbabwe, his legacy needs to be protected and as a result it can only be protected if he follows the rules of the country,” said Mr Mliswa.
The committee chair said Mr Mugabe was not being persecuted as all that was needed was his contribution.

“We still have utmost respect for him, that’s the reason why the committee has exercised this patience but ultimately there are laws and rules which Parliament has to follow which protect the citizens of this country and we hope and pray that we will not get to the stage of summoning the President to appear before us.

“As you know we had equally suggested as a committee in respect of the work that he has done for this country to go and appear at his Blue Roof residence but you must understand it is his choice to allow us to appear there or even be in camera. The options are open to him but he has not responded,” said Mr Mliswa.

“And of course you know that by not attending there is that schedule …he will be in contempt, there are many results. Let me remind you that the late Mr Roy Bennet was sent to prison by Parliament”.

He said when Parliament writes to someone, the person has to write the reasons why they cannot comply.

“Parliament has done everything necessary to ensure that the due process is followed to ensure that the former President attends by sending letters through the right channels which is expected of Parliament,” said Mr Mliswa.

Turning to Home Affairs Minister Dr Obert Mpofu who refused to appear before the committee demanding that Mr Mliswa recuse himself, the outspoken Norton MP said a report had already been sent to the Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda.

Mr Mliswa said Mr Wicknell Chivayo’s Zimbabwe Power Company deal report would be tabled in Parliament today and more reports were likely to be tabled before dissolution of the House. – state media

WhatsApp Leak Fake, Claims ZEC

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has dismissed reports that it is employing serving members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces following a recording circulating on WhatsApp of someone claiming to be working as an undercover soldier within the Commission.

Zec also said its use of bulk messages to confirm registration status is not for purposes of rigging the upcoming harmonised elections.

In a statement, the Acting Chief Elections officer, Mr Utoile Silaigwana, said the SMSs were meant to make the verification process easier and not scrap people from the voters roll as alleged by others.

“Members of the public are hereby advised that the commission has no serving soldiers in its employment and it is false that the use of the USSD code *265# to confirm one’s registration status is a ploy to flash out certain groups of registrants from the Provisional Voter’s Roll. The use of the USSD code and SMSs are initiatives to make one’s registration easily verified,” he said.

“This comes in the wake of a recording circulating on Whatsapp of an individual purporting to be a member of the Zimbabwe National Army deployed at Zec as an intelligence operative.”

Mr Silaigwana said Zec will not hesitate to bring offenders to book.

“Zec is warning those purporting to be part of the electoral management body staff that they risk being prosecuted hence they should stop this practice,” he said.
Mr Silaigwana advised the public to ignore the WhatsApp messages as the commission does not use Whatsapp to communicate.

“Sections 32 and 33 of the Electoral Act clearly state the circumstances under which one’s name can be removed from the voters’ roll either through death, objection or in the case of multiple registrations,” he said.

About a fortnight ago, the commission distanced itself from an application that was circulating on WhatsApp with a Zec logo and the message ‘Click to vote,’ where a message written: “Congratulations! You have voted for Emmarson (sic) Dambudzo Mnangagwa”, appeared following the ‘Click to vote’ command. – state media

Man Sues Own Son-In-Law For Maintenance

A man has dragged his ex-son-in-law to the maintenance Court for the upkeep of one minor child.

Mr Makhi Zulu on Friday demanded $150 from Eden Chuma for the maintenance of a six-year-old boy he sired with his daughter.

“I have been taking care of his child without his contribution. The mother of the child is my daughter and she has left the child in my care. The child is in school and he needs a lot of things like uniforms. I am demanding $150 per month for his upkeep,” he said.

Mr Zulu said Chuma is a self employed painter. Chuma said he could not afford the amount since he is unemployed.

“I am currently unemployed. I am a self employed painter and I don’t earn much. I cannot afford to pay $150 a month. I am married and I also have other children. The only amount I am able to pay is below $70,” he said.

Mr Zulu revised the amount he was claiming. “Considering he is not employed, he should pay $75 plus school fees and also buy uniforms for the child,” he said. Chuma agreed to Mr Zulu’s claims.-state media

Erect Nkomo’s Statue Near Mnangagwa In Harare

THE Joshua Nkomo Cultural Movement (JNCM) has appealed to the Government to erect a statue of Father Zimbabwe, the late Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo, in Harare.

JNCM chairperson and son to Dr Nkomo, Mr Sibangilizwe Nkomo, said the organisation and family understand that the statue had already been carved. The National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe (NMMZ) in 2014 revealed that Government was working on erecting Dr Nkomo’s statue in the capital.

In December 2013, the Government unveiled Dr Nkomo’s statue in Bulawayo. Mr Nkomo said it was his hope that their request would be acted upon.

“We also requested Government to erect a statue in the capital. We understand the statue is available,” said Mr Nkomo.

He said the organisation has already partnered the Government in wrapping up Joshua Nkomo Centenary celebrations.

Mr Nkomo said a senior Government official is expected to deliver a guest lecture at the Zimbabwe Defence University on the role of the army in nation building as part of the celebrations.

The centenary commemorations have been running under the theme: “A Reflection of Ethical leadership.”

“Government has agreed to work with us on the events that we have proposed. Preparations are now at advanced stage for the commemorations to take place. The commemorations will start on June 7, which is the birthday of Father Zimbabwe. On that day we are going to have a guest lecture at the Zimbabwe Defence University,” said Mr Nkomo.

Dr Nkomo would have turned 100 years last year having been born in 1917.
Mr Nkomo said the JNCM would also hold a dinner dance on June 8 before capping the events with a soccer match pitting Highlanders and Dynamos on June 9.

“We are grateful that the Government agreed to join us in our quest to celebrate our icon. It is our understanding that the lecture will be given by a top Government official,” he said.
Mr Nkomo said Government also made a commitment towards ensuring that Father Zimbabwe’s vision remains alive.

He said optimism had been raised in the family and its partners that Ekusileni Hospital will be opened soon with Government having shortlisted potential investors. Mr Nkomo said it will be the first time the organisation will be holding Dr Nkomo’s commemorations outside Matabeleland region.

“We’re doing so in full realisation that umdala was a national leader. We have held many events in Matabeleland region and this year we decided to host the event in Harare,” he said.
Mr Nkomo said the family was still pursuing Father Zimbabwe’s values of promoting tolerance, peace and national unity. – state media

Prison Officer In Soup For Supporting Chamisa

John Mahlabela was summoned to appear before a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday 12 June 2018 by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) for his political comments inviting Chamisa to visit Chiredzi in a Twitter comment.

He is being charged for contravening section 3(1) of the Prison (Sfaff) (Discipline) Regulations1984.

“According to ZPCS, Mahlabera allegedly posted a message on micro blogging site Twitter, which reads; “Come to Chiredzi my president,” said the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).

The ZPCS said Mahlabera posted this message after an MDC-T party rally that was held at Jerera Growth Point in Zaka in Masvingo province, which was addressed by MDC Alliance presidential candidate, Chamisa.

ZPCS said by posting such a message on Twitter, Mahlabera showed loyalty to Chamisa and disloyalty to President Mnangagwa.

ZADHR Blasts Mukupe Over ARV Slur

By Own Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights (ZADHR) has blasted Finance deputy minister Terrence Mukupe over his sentiments on radio that former Finance minister, Tendai Biti had not taken his dose ARVs before going on air.

During a live radio debate with Biti last week, Mukupe suggested that Biti was losing his temper during the live debate because he had not taken his medication.

Mukupe said the statement to Biti after he had alleged Mukupe was high on drugs.

“For the purposes of denigrating and casting the listenership of StarFM against the person of Mr Tendai Biti, Deputy Minister Mukupe asked Mr Biti if he had taken his anti-retroviral (ARVs),” the doctors lobby group said in a statement.

The ZADHR reiterated that political leaders must be torch bearers in the fight against HIV and Aids and associated stigma and discrimination.

“Hon Mukupe’s utterances casts aspersions in this fight.

“We believe the lack of appreciation of issues such as the impact of HIV and Aids on the socio-political landscape of the country generally drive the poor financing of the sector. Hon Mukupe, in this instance, personifies such failures.

The lobby group said Mukupe’s remarks was a reflection why there was limited commitment towards HIV programming including stigma and discrimination.

“Stigma and discrimination remain a threat to the fight against HIV and Aids and, as ZADHR, we call upon all leaders, political, religious and community alike to take a stand against this vice.”

‘Thousands Of MDC Supporters Are Unregistered Voters’

MDC rally Bulawayo White City

Terrence Mawawa

Former Radio Zimbabwe presenter
Ezra Tshisa Sibanda has sensationally claimed that thousands of MDC supporters who attend the party’ s rallies countrywide are unregistered voters.

Sibanda urged the opposition party to encourage its supporters to register to vote as relying on record figures at party rallies would not guarantee victory.

“The MDC primary elections turnout has been abysmal
across the country in comparison with the Zanu PF
primary elections.

For example Hwange Central
with 25 000 registered voters, less than 1200
people voted in MDC primaries there, where my
brother Daniel Molokele won collecting 1012
votes.

MDC rallies are always packed yet the results
of primary elections are shockingly low.

Be warned huge figures at rallies can be deceiving, not all
those who attend are genuinely for you,” said Sibanda.

Man Charged For Undermining Mnangagwa Authority The Mugabe Way

John Mhlabera

Zimbabwean authorities have charged a 36 year-old man for allegedly undermining President Emmerson Mnangagwa through posting some political comments on social media.

The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) recently summoned John Mahlabera, who is employed as a prison officer at Chiredzi Prison in Masvingo province, to appear before a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday 12 June 2018 after charging him with contravening section 3(1) of the Prison (Sfaff) (Discipline) Regulations1984.

According to ZPCS, Mahlabera allegedly posted a message on micro blogging site Twitter, which reads; “Come to Chiredzi my president”.

The ZPCS said Mahlabera posted this message after an MDC-T party rally that was held at Jerera Growth Point in Zaka in Masvingo province, which was addressed by opposition party leader Nelson Chamisa.

ZPCS said by posting such a message on Twitter, Mahlabera showed loyalty to Chamisa and disloyalty to President Mnangagwa.

The ZPCS charged that Mahlabera’s conduct was disgraceful to Mnangagwa and the prison officer had no right whatsoever to act in the manner he did.

Four witnesses will testify against Mahlabera during the disciplinary hearing to be conducted next month in Masvingo, where the prison officer will be represented by Collen Maboke and Blessing Nyamaropa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

ZLHR’s records compiled since 2010 show that the organisation has attended to close to 200 cases where people have been arrested and charged for allegedly “insulting or undermining the authority of the President”.

Mangudya Grilled On Fuel Shortages

John Mangudya

Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor Dr John Mangudya says fuel shortages are caused by structural challenges such as heavy reliance on imports, debt overhang, fuel price hikes and low production.

The RBZ boss also revealed that the country is using US$80 million per month to purchase fuel.

Dr Mangudya made the explanation while appearing before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy today.

A debt overhang is the condition of an organisation (for example, a business, government, or family) that has existing debt so great that it cannot easily borrow more money, even when that new borrowing is actually a good investment that would more than pay for itself.

The portfolio committee chairperson Mr Themba Mliswa quizzed the RBZ Governor on why government is buying high end expensive cars for Ministers when the country has such structural challenges and not promoting local industry such as Willovale Mazda Motor Industries.

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy is chaired by Honourable Themba Mliswa

The committee also queried why fuel companies demand cash and shun plastic money which could help to preserve the country’s foreign currency.

BLUE ROOF: Mugabe Remains Holed Inside House As Parly Continues

Former president Robert Mugabe once again failed his appearance at the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy today.

Mugabe is expected to answer on his role in the $15billion diamond leak he revealed 2 years before he was removed.

This is the second time in less than a week Mugabe dodged attending the Temba Mliswa led committee which is investigating the matter.

When Mugabe failed to attend last week’s hearings Mliswa said this was due to the time he had been summoned saying that it was too early for the elderly former President. He said,  “Even when he was still President, because of his age, Mugabe held cabinet meetings at 12 pm.”

This time announcing the latest disappointment today, Mliswa said Parliament is now going to write a final letter to Mugabe. He warned that if Mugabe does not appear again, he will be in contempt of Parliament and risks being jailed.

Mliswa said that Parliament has the power to jail people and gave an example of the late MDC treasurer Roy Bennett who was jailed by Parliament following an altercation with Minister Chinamasa. Mugabe is now to appear before the committee on the 11th of June.

WATCH LIVE: Mugabe Before Parliamentary Portfolio Committee On Mines and Energy

ZimEye will be LIVE streaming events as they unfold on our facebook page where former President Robert Mugabe is expected to appear before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy.

Mugabe is expected to appear before the committee to clarify and present oral evidence on the US$15 billion diamond revenue which he alleged disappeared.

Last week on Thursday, chairperson of the committee Temba Mliswa said Mugabe had failed to appear because of the time that he had been summoned to appear.

“Even when he was still President, because of his age, Mugabe held cabinet meetings at 12 pm,” said Mliswa, adding that they had advised Mugabe to appear Monday (today) at 2 pm.

However, it was not clear whether Mugabe had acknowledged receipt of his notice to appear or confirmed attendance.

Mashonaland Has Highest Number Of Uneducated People, ZimStats

By Paul Nyathi|A survey by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat), officially launched last week says that the country’s literacy rate stands at 94 percent still remains the highest in Africa.

However, Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central provinces have the highest number of people who have never been to school.

Data from the 2017 ICDS on education reveals that 12 percent of the population age 3-24 years have never been to school.

“Of the total population education age 3-24 years, 27 percent have left school where the proportion for males is 23 percent. For females the rate stands at 27 percent,” it says.

According to the study, about 63 percent of the school-going population are attending school.

“About 12 percent had never been to school and the highest proportions are in Mashonaland Central and Mashonaland West provinces. The majority of those never been to school are 5 years and below,” reads the ICDS.

“In Zimbabwe there are equal proportions of males and females who have never been to school and there are slightly more males than females in school. Among those who have left school, there are more females than males and the same is observed towards higher levels of education,” reads the report.

The survey was conducted by Zimstat from 18-23 August 2017, with technical, financial and material support from UNFPA, Unicef and International Organisation for Migration.

“The 2017 ICDS results could not have come at a better time than now when there are a number of national development processes which require baseline and updated data, such as the preparation of the successor programme to the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim-Asset), mid-term review of the Zimbabwe United Nations Development Assistance Framework (ZUNDAF) for the period 2016-2020, annual review of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the joint assessments in line with the country’s re-engagement thrust with the international community,” said UNFPA country representative Dr Esther Muia.

Mugabe Offered Asylum In Guinea

Former President Robert Mugabe was offered asylum by his visiting old time friend Teodoro Obiang Nguema, the president of Equatorial Guinea.

Nguema offered the ageing former leader asylum if he needs it.

Obiang met Mugabe at his private mansion in Harare on Friday and Mugabe had a few complaints about the way he’s been treated.

“You should be glad they left you alive.”

That was what Equatorial Guinea president Obiang Nguema told his former ally Mugabe when they met for a tete a tete, closely watched by high-ranking ministers from the new Zimbabwe government.

The Standard newspaper says that Obiang stated that Mugabe could have asylum in Equatorial Guinea if he needed it.

Mnangagwa Flies Off To South Africa For Medicals

By Paul Nyathi|President Emmerson Mnangagwa sneaked out of the country late Sunday to neighbouring South Africa with government sources claiming he had gone for “medical check ups”

While his spokesman George Charamba was not available for comment, sources said of  a truth the head of State was “out of the country Sunday evening for medical check ups.”

His motorcade was spotted arriving at Robert Mugabe International Airport late Sunday evening.

This is not the first time Mnangagwa has flown out of the country unnoticed and 4 months ago Lanseria airport confirmed to ZimEye.com he has used a private jet, Flight EXD015. ZimEye quizzed why the flight was not showing up on the flight tracking database and the source replied saying, “what website are you using looking at?… You won’t find that flight there, there is no reason why it will be on that website, because that is not a scheduled flight.”

“It is just a private that came from Harare,” the source added.

Meanwhile in the latest case, other sources said Mnangagwa will be back in the country on Monday.

Another source claimed that Mnangagwa is in South Africa for routine check ups following the so called “poisoning incident” in November last year.  The development also came as the state media made claims that Mnangagwa ate ice-cream deliberately laced with poison, during the events that eventually led to Robert Mugabe’s removal last year.

The claims of ice cream have however been dismissed by the president himself. Health Minister, Dr. David Parirenyatwa says Mnangagwa suffered from gastroentitis, while the man himself says he never ate ice cream.

But the state broadsheet says Mnangagwa was poisoned.

ZANU PF Holds Unity Summit After Disastrous Primaries

By Paul Nyathi|ZANU PF has convened a two day summit to try and bring together its members after the chaotic primary elections that have seen more disgruntlements than celebrations.

The workshop will be addressed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In a circular to all provincial chairpersons, the Zanu-PF Department for the Commissariat said the workshop organised through the Chitepo School of Ideology, will be held at the Zanu-PF Headquarters Main Hall.

“The Commissariat Department, through the Chitepo School of Ideology has organised a healing and reconciliation workshop to unite all candidates who participated in the party’s primary elections for Senate and the National Assembly,” reads part of the circular.

“Provincial chairpersons are requested to invite all their respective winning candidates and losing candidates in the said primary elections to attend this very important meeting scheduled to be addressed by His Excellency, the President and First Secretary of Zanu-PF Cde ED Mnangagwa on Wednesday 30 May, 2018.”

Has Auxillia Clashed With Marry Chiwenga?

Rumours have swirled that First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has clashed for the shine with VP Constantino Chiwenga’s Wife, Marry.

Mrs Mnangagwa was yesterday said to have taken over the running of Mushamukadzi Foundation, an organisation started by Marry.

Sources claimed that this was done to prevent the First Lady from being outshined.

“Just imagine, can someone just handover her charity projects that have been in place for six years, just like that,” a source was quoted by Newsday saying.

They continued adding that, “this is a very sensitive issue and as a sign of respect to the First Family and avoid unnecessary competition, Marry had no choice, but to handover the foundation to the First Lady’s Angel of Hope Foundation.”

Meanwhile however, Marry  dismissed the claims in her handover speech saying:

“I don’t know where you are getting such information and the motive of the people peddling such malicious rumours.

“As I said at the dinner yesterday, (Saturday), we have all agreed as a team that the First Lady inherit the work we have taken all the six years.”

A comment from Mrs Mnangagwa could not be obtained at the time of writing.

Mugabe Told: Be Thankful Chiwenga Left You Alive

Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema reportedly told his former Zimbabwe counterpart Robert Mugabe he should count himself lucky he’s still alive after last year’s military operation that saw him forced out.

Obiang, who has been in power since 1979, was in Zimbabwe for a two-day state visit during which he paid a visit to Mugabe, 94, at his Harare mansion.

‘I will die here’

“You must be thankful my brother that these people left you alive and you are still at your home,” a source quoted Obiang as telling Mugabe, according to the private Standard newspaper.

The Equatorial Guinea president and Mugabe became close friends in 2004 after Harare intercepted a band of mercenaries on its way to Malabo to topple Obiang’s government.

Obiang offered Mugabe sanctuary in his central African country if the 94-year-old no longer felt welcome in Zimbabwe, the Standard said. But Mugabe reportedly replied: “This is my home, I will die here. I will visit you as and when I want to but I will never abandon my people.”

State ‘harassment’

Mugabe reportedly told Obiang that his family was the subject of harassment by Mnangagwa’s government.

“He spoke of how the military and other spy agencies were busy spying on his family, those who work for him being subjected to questioning again and again and to some extent his freedom being curtailed,” the source told the Standard.

Obiang’s meeting with Mugabe was also attended by Zimbabwe’s foreign minister, Sibusiso Moyo and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who played key roles in Operation Restore Legacy, the military takeover in November that led to Mugabe being persuaded to resign.

Before he left on Friday Obiang told state media his visit had “afforded me the opportunity to know the new members of government and establish a common understanding”. – News24/Standard

Chamisa Finally Proves Critics Wrong

By Own Correspondent| MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa on Sunday morning proved his critics wrong.

For several months since February, political enemies flung attacks on him claiming that he has marital problems.

Chamisa revealed his position as first revealed by ZimEye.com in March. He for the first time spoke on why his wife is not a public feature like other First Ladies of leading political parties.

Said Chamisa, “I heard Mnangagwa saying where is Chamisa’s wife, and I said, ah ah ah. Garwe is not right. ALSO WATCH THE VIDEO:

Others are saying “Mama Nero.”

There is no one without a babe, isn’t it? SONG: There is no one without their own, right?

I want to thank you all, this is Mrs Chamisa. You are privileged – I predetermined it from the beginning that I will not allow my wife to become like what the Mnangagwa’s  (wives) are doing, jumping up and down like chickens as if they are now the Presidents. Mine will be busy supporting her husband building the family behind the scenes, not this practice of a woman growing beard like her husband as if they are goats. The husband will be busy handling that side while the wife is handling their own side. ”

Boozers To Affiliate To Sports Commission

By Paul Nyathi|The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has issued an order demanding that all sporting fraternities including social sports usually referred to as “boozers” should immediately affiliate to the Commision.

In a media statement the SRC acting director-general Joseph Muchechetere ordered that all sporting and recreational organisations in the country must be legally registered so it can account for them.

These organisations include social sport, community sport and recreation clubs, academies, country and sports clubs, ward, district, provincial and national associations.

Giving the order Muchechetere sought to clarify the role of the commission to remove any ambiguity following the misunderstanding of its role and functions.

He said the SRC was a statutory body and among some of its objectives and mandate is to coordinate, control, develop and foster the activities of sport and recreation in the country.

Muchechetere said as the regulator of the sport and recreation sector, the SRC will ensure that all teams and individuals, who include administrators, coaches, athletes and volunteers, going out of or coming into the country for sport and recreation activities are cleared first, before proceeding on sport and recreation tours.

“Currently this has an implication on foreign currency, especially to the athletes that will be going out and we must therefore be assured that teams have enough funding to cater for their stay in foreign lands. Also as foreign teams come into the country, we also generate foreign currency for the nation,” said Muchechetere.

“We have observed that country and recreation clubs have abandoned their primary role of providing sport and recreation activities for communities surrounding them. As their regulator, we wish to place it on record that their role is to ensure that they grow their membership by providing them with sporting and recreational activities of their choice. The country and sports clubs are not meant to be beer halls or night clubs and as such we will be dispatching our teams to ensure that they revert to their core mandate,” he said.

Mugabe Set For Parly Hearing, Will He Attend?

Former President Robert Mugabe in parliament

By Paul Nyathi|Former President, Robert Mugabe is set to appear before parliament this Monday afternoon to answer questions on the notorious missing $15 billion diamonds revenue, the big question is, will he attend?

According to the law if Mugabe does not attend he will face contempt of Parliament charges as this will be the second official invitation after he failed to show up last week on Wednesday before the Mines and Energy portfolio committee.

Mugabe has kept the committee guessing after he failed to confirm whether he would attend the hearing as invited by committee chairman Temba Mliswa.

He was served with letters inviting him to appear before the committee and clarify claims he made in 2016 that Zimbabwe had lost $15 billion through diamond leakages.

Clerk of Parliament, Mr Kennedy Chokuda, said parliament has been making frantic efforts to get confirmation on Mugabe’s attendance.

“We have not got anything as yet. Our expectation is that he attends Monday’s hearing as agreed by the committee,” said Chokuda.

Mliswa said they remained optimistic that Mr Mugabe would attend the hearing given that the former Head of State and Government understood the Constitution and the role of Parliament.

“We expect him to have time to appear before Parliament. We expect him to co-operate and Parliament has power to summon anyone,” said Mliswa.

“I think he will comply because he is a man who understands the Constitution and he is our statesman.”

He said Parliament had been magnanimous for Mugabe by arranging that he comes in the afternoon and not in the morning as initially scheduled.

“In view of the time, we have resolved that we will write to Mugabe to appear before us at 2pm, taking into cognisance the fact that 9am was too early because when he was in office, he would do Cabinet meetings late in the afternoon at 2pm,” he said.

The decision to call Mugabe followed a claim during an interview to commemorate his birthday in 2016 where he said Zimbabwe had lost $15 billion through diamond leakages.

Last week the committee waited for over two hours for the arrival of Mugabe before calling off the meeting.

Gutu To Meet US Gvt Officials In The USA

Obert Gutu

By Paul Nyathi|Splinter MDC-T Deputy President Obert Gutu is visiting the United States of America on a mission to meet leaders of the United States Government to seek backing for his party.

Gutu told the Voice of America in an interview on Saturday that he is visiting the United States on his party business to garner the super power’s backing ahead of the upcoming elections.

“I will be meeting with members from the US Department of State on Monday,” said Gutu.

Gutu said that the agenda of the meeting will be to discuss the roadmap to a free and fair election in the elections coming up in July.

“The topical issue in the country which we can’t ignore is the issue of rigged elections and thats what we will discuss so that we get free and credible elections this year,” he said.

Gutu also said that he is going to discuss the issue of targeted sanctions the US put on Zimbabwe.

“We are also going to discuss the issue of the targeted sanctions with a plea to have the sanctions lifted as they are inflicting suffering on ordinary Zimbabweans instead of those that they are targeting,” said Gutu.

Herald Says Mnangagwa Ate Poisonous Ice Cream, President Denies| WHAT’S GOING ON?

By Farai D Hove| The state media has made claims that President Emmerson Mnangagwa ate ice-cream deliberately laced with poison, during the events that eventually led to Robert Mugabe’s removal last year.

The claims have however been dismissed by the president himself. Health Minister, Dr. David Parirenyatwa says Mnangagwa suffered from gastroentitis, while the man himself says he never ate ice cream.

But the state broadsheet says Mnangagwa was poisoned.

The report says in part: the Head of State and Government survived hanging — on an age technicality — by the Rhodesian regime after his death sentence was commuted to 10 years in jail for bombing a locomotive at Masvingo Railway Station in 1965. His colleague in the locomotive bombing, Cde Matthew Malowa, was executed.

President Mnangagwa was to skip the border in November last year to South Africa via Mozambique when his life appeared to be in danger from G40 cabalists who were reportedly baying for his head following his dismissal from Government on spurious charges.

He also survived poisoning after eating ice cream laced with poison at a Zanu-PF Youth Interface rally in Gwanda last August.

Mnangagwa Hints: Mugabe’s Removal Was Prophesied Back In 1964

President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the weekend hinted that the removal of former president Robert Mugabe was prophesied way back in 1964.

Mnangagwa profiled himself an animated speech that cast him as a hero as far back as more than half a century ago, (52 years) spoke of this during the Rhodesian colonial regime while he was recruiting guerillas to prepare for the Second Chimurenga.

Mnangagwa told the gathering how the late Bishop Mutendi, who was his uncle, foretold his future in the 1960s.

Mnangagwa survived hanging — on an age technicality — by the Rhodesian regime after his death sentence was commuted to 10 years in jail for bombing a locomotive at Masvingo Railway Station in 1965. His colleague in the locomotive bombing, Cde Matthew Malowa, was executed.

Mnangagwa was later to skip the border in November last year to South Africa via Mozambique when his life appeared to be in danger from Robert Mugabe and his G40 faction who were reportedly baying for his head following his dismissal from Government.

He triumphantly returned from temporary exile two weeks later culminating in his election as the new Zanu-PF leader and First Secretary, and subsequently the President of Zimbabwe taking over from Mr Robert Mugabe.

“Let me tell you in 1964 when I still did not understand these things (prophecy) I was with my colleague recruiting young men and women to join the liberation struggle at Nyika, you know Nyika (in Bikita). We were seeing one (Cde) Farirai Masunda. He is the one we were seeing since he was the chairman at the time in the area, unfortunately he died, succumbed to thorough beating (by Rhodesian authorities) because of us,’’ said President Mnangagwa.
He said one day they were summoned by the late ZCC founder.

“As we were moving around we saw a large group of people, comprising men and women, who were walking in a field belonging to my late uncle, Bishop Mutendi’s father (the late Samuel Mutendi) and would gather at one place in the evening. We went there and my uncle the late Bishop Mutendi called me and my colleague.’’

“We stood up, and holding his famous staff in one hand, he said referring to me and my colleague, ‘you are in a race but in a race there are some who win and others who fail to make it, yet all of you will be part of the race,’ up to now I do not know what he meant. He said to the two of us, ‘between you two, one will win but another will fail in the race that you are participating,’’ said the President.

Mnangagwa said he would have liked to ask the late Bishop Mutendi what he meant had he not died.

‘’Today he is no longer there but I wanted to ask him what he exactly meant by saying my colleague and I were in a race. I now know that as a man of God he was talking about what awaited us in way into the future and what he said was fulfilled and today I am here with you,’’ said Mnangagwa. – state media

Old Granny Accused Of Bedding Another Man

There was drama at the Mutare Civil Courts last Friday when a local man accused his sexagenarian wife of promiscuity and demanded that the court divorce them immediately.

William Magosvongwe (70) went out of control and begged magistrate, Ms Nyasha Kuture, to legally separate himself and his wife, Emily Magosvongwe (62) whom he accused of being unfaithful.

He alleged that she was in an extra-marital affair with their 25-year-old neighbour.

The husband made all these claims after Emily had dragged him to the civil court accusing him of physically and emotionally abusing her by insulting and assaulting her in public.

He however, did not deny that he was mistreating his wife but told the court that the reason why he was acting in such a manner was because his wife was no longer faithful to him.

“Your Worship, you have to divorce us today. If you do not, the next time I come before you it will be because I would have murdered this woman due to her wayward ways,” he begged the court for a divorce.

Miss Kuture however told him that her court had no powers to end marriages and advised him to seek marriage counselling to save their marriage.

“What I do not understand is why a 62-year-old woman who already has grandchildren and children who are staying abroad would have extra-marital relationships. Something is amiss here,” Miss Kuture asked.

Magosvongwe stood his ground and said he saw his wife and her lover leave the toilet together.

“I came across their chats and I confiscated her phone as evidence. I have it and will not give it back to her until you grant us a divorce,” he said.

Emily vehemently denied her husband’s claims that she had a younger lover.

“Your Worship, If I needed a lover, why would I pick a child in his mid-20s? I would obviously pick someone who is close to my age. Besides this man is very violent and that is the reason why he is bringing all these lies before the court,” she defended herself. Manica Post

Mugabe To Be Charged

Former President, Mr Robert Mugabe, faces contempt of Parliament charges if he fails to attend a hearing set for today on alleged leakages of diamonds at Chiadzwa during his reign which he is on record saying amounted to $15 billion. Mr Mugabe failed to show up last week on Wednesday.
Mines and Energy portfolio committee chairperson, Mr Temba Mliswa rescheduled the hearing to today. Mr Mugabe has been keeping Parliament guessing after he failed to confirm whether he would attend the hearing.

He was served with letters inviting him to appear before the committee and clarify claims he made in 2016 that Zimbabwe had lost $15 billion through diamond leakages.

Clerk of Parliament, Mr Kennedy Chokuda, yesterday said they had been making frantic efforts to get confirmation on Mr Mugabe’s attendance.

“We have not got anything as yet. Our expectation is that he attends tomorrow’s hearing as agreed by the committee,” said Mr Chokuda.

Mr Mliswa said they remained optimistic that Mr Mugabe would attend today’s hearing given that the former Head of State and Government understood the Constitution and the role of Parliament.
“We expect him to have time to appear before Parliament. We expect him to co-operate and Parliament has power to summon anyone,” said Mr Mliswa.

The decision to call Mr Mugabe followed a claim during an interview to commemorate his birthday in 2016 where he said Zimbabwe had lost $15 billion through diamond leakages.
Last week, several photojournalists gathered outside Parliament to capture Mr Mugabe’s appearance before the committee.

The committee waited for over two hours for the arrival of Mr Mugabe before calling off the meeting.
Mr Mugabe resigned in November 2017 after Parliament had instituted impeachment proceedings against him over a litany of allegations.

Last week, Mr Mliswa read out to journalists a letter written by Deputy Clerk of Parliament Mrs Nomasonto Sunga to Mr Mugabe.

It read: “The purpose is for you to brief the committee on the alleged loss of $15 billion in diamond revenue and the context in which you are alleged to have said that statement. The mines committee believes you may have useful information for the committee to conclude its report.”- state media

Chamisa: Chiwenga Will Not Stop Me

By Dorrothy Moyo| MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has said that the army cannot break the law and succeed at reversing the outcome of the upcoming election.

Analysts project that the 40-year old is winning the upcoming elections and a recent poll showed that he is likely to win by 81% of the vote while he’s opponent gets the rest which is 19%.

Speaking in Beitbridge on Saturday, Chamisa said,

“(Terence) Mukupe said if I win, the army won’t allow me to rule, he said they will stop me from ruling. This will not happen because soldiers are patriotic and professional. They don’t serve an individual but they follow the will of the people and therefore they will support the will of the people because it’s the people who would have elected me,” he said.

Be Patient With Us- Biggie Zuze

Terrence Mawawa

Dynamos head coach Biggie Zuze has appealed to the multitudes of Dembare fans to be patient with the team following the drab goalless draw with premiership rookies Herentals FC at Rufaro Stadium.

Dembare have failed yet again to collect maximum points in today’s pedestrian league match against the Students.

Herentals had too much respect for the Glamour Boys and they blew several golden opportunities in the game.

“I would like to urge our fans to be patient because we are improving with each game.

I know that our fans are hurt but the bad spell will be over very soon.

These things happen in football but there is no need to panic,” said Zuze.

Dembare are struggling to find their usual rhythm and soccer analysts attribute the poor form to the dearth of strikers at the club.

Speaking to ZBC in an interview yesterday Mutendereki claimed he pulled out of the primary election in good faith.

“Who told you that I was forced to withdraw from the race?

I did it in good faith, contrary to claims that I was intimidated.

I will campaign for CDE Mutsvangwa because he is our candidate,” said Muterendereki.

Mujuru’s NPP Says Mukupe Is A Dangerous Element In Society

Former Vice President Joice Mujuru.

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo

Joice Mujuru’ s National People’s Party (NPP) has described controversial Deputy Minister of Finance Terrence Mukupe as a dangerous element in a democratic society.

NPP Spokesperson Jeffryson Chitando yesterday said Mukupe’ s remarks on
People Living With HIV and AIDS in Zimbabwe were unfortunate .

“Terrence Mukupe’s reckless
utterances stigmatized people living with HIV and AIDS.

A Deputy Minister of Finance who
does not care about the plight of people living HIV and Aids
cannot guarantee the support of positive policies to
alleviate the HIV/AIDS scourge,” said Chitando.

“If Mnangagwa doesn’t take action against Mukupe then the
2,5 million people living with HIV and AIDS will find a solution via the ballot box.

The people of Harare East must
stand up against this uncultured, barbaric and silly
Member of Parliament.”

MDC Election Goodwill Running Out Due To Violence – Guma

By Terrence Mawawa| Veteran journalist and political analyst Lance Guma has slammed the manner in which the MDC-T is conducting its primaries.

He bemoaned the commotion in the opposition party.

Guma yesterday said: “Let’s tell each other the truth. The way the MDC-T is conducting its primary elections is an absolute embarrassment.

We do not expect this kind of confusion, poor organisation, corruption, nepotism, violence and intimidation from an aspiring government in waiting.

For years you have relied on the goodwill of the people – sick and tired of the murderous Zanu PF
regime. That goodwill will expire very soon”.

Mandiwanzira Emerges Out Of Cocoon, Joins Zanu PF Campaign Trail

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo

As the ruling party Zanu PF continues to feel the simmering political heat, the usually reserved Information, Communication Technology Minister, Supa Mandiwanzira has emerged out of the cocoon to drum up support for the revolutionary party.

On Monday(tomorrow) Mandiwanzira will handover 160 computers to schools in Gutu District at Mupandawana Town.

“The programme will commence at 10 am tomorrow and the Minister will address government officials and party leaders in the district.

He will proceed to Sandton High School where he will address community leaders and Zanu PF officials,” government sources said yesterday.

Sandton High School is owned by Zanu PF Politburo member and Gutu Central Constituency MP Lovemore Matuke.

BREAKING- Mnangagwa MP Goes Blue Roof, Joins Robert Mugabe

By Clement Moyo| A top Emmerson Mnangagwa MP has deserted ZANU PF and gone Blue to Roof, literally.

Kwekwe Central MP, Hon “Blackman” Masango Matambanadzo announced his sudden decision at the weekend saying, ” I considered joining MDC, ZIPP, but then later remembered there is NPF where Baba is.”

ZimEye.com is broadcasting this development LIVE on Sunday afternoon.

It is coming at  time when a poll done by ZimEye claimed that Mnangagwa is garnering a paltry 19% of the national vote, while the MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa takes 81% – this is a few points (7%) ahead of the late Morgan Tsvangirai’s official Presidential election win in 2008. SEE BELOW

Change Zimbabwe from Shona to Ndebele Name Before Renaming Provinces

By Israel Dube | Big mouth war veterans Secretary General, Victor Matamatanda’s mediocre suggestion that province names should be changed must not be allowed to last a second in the record book of good opinions.

Addressing war veterans in Bulawayo, Victor Matamatanda said the country should do away with tribal provincial names like Matabeleland and Mashonaland as these promote tribalism which hinders national development. And that there is need for victims of Matabeleland genocide to find closure by taking the country’s former President Robert Mugabe to task whilst he is still alive.

In case this former Zanla war vet has short memories like a squirrel, the people of Matabeleland have not forgotten and will never forget.

It is not provincial names that produced the evil Grand Plan in 1979 but shona supremacists assisted and abated by Britain. Like the Hutu 10 Commandments wrote by Hutu supremacists in Rwanda, the Grand plan outlined how Matabeles were going to be wiped out from the face of earth and survivors marginalised in all spheres of life and dominated. Their identity, languages, culture and dignity murdered.

It is not the names of provinces that unleashed Zimbabwe National Army 5th Brigade on the people of Matabeleland to dastardly murder more than 40 000 Matabele civilians, rape more than 100 000 Matebele women, burn more than 100 000 homes, displace more than a million Matabeles. But it was the highly tribalistic shona supremacists that created and sent the Zimbabwe National Army 5th Brigade and again, with the assistance of Britain. North Korea was roped in to train the blood socked Zimbabwe National Army 5th Brigade and left afterwards but British army commanders under BMATT ie British Military Training Team remained to direct the gory events. The shona supremacists were cheered by the beneficiaries and supporters of shona supremacy system, Victor Matematanda included.

We also remind the loose cannon Matamatanda who seriously suffers from short memories that the Zimbabwe National Army 5th Brigade was composed of shonas only and recruited from Zanla forces which makes him one of the main suspects of Matabeleland genocide perpetrators.

It is not provincial names that continues to tribally discriminate Matabeles and deny them, educational opportunities, job opportunities, business opportunities and development. It is the shona supremacist found in Zanupf, MDCT, PDP, and all shona led political parties.

It is not provincial names that treat Matabeles as second class citizens and makes them permanent ceremonial second vice presidents both in the ruling and opposition party. But it is the highly tribalistic and hateful shona supremacists and its multitudes of supporters found in Zanupf and all shona led political parties

This Matamadanda fellow must be told that the pain and anger against the shonas is still within us and shall remain so and visit them upto to their 10th generation from now if they dont apologise and give us US$100billion compensation and deliver our country to regain its full sovereignity and independence. Remember, it would be costly, painful and unsustainable to shonas if they choose to ignore us yet three steps above will end this anger and bittersness against the shonas. We shall for ever remain good neighbours.

The shona supremacist government of Zimbabwe must face the consequences of its hateful, divisionist and genocidal programs like men instead of looking for scapegoats.

The time for Matabeles to govern themselves has come. We will revive the Jameson Line, which is the border post between Matabeleland and Mashonaland aka Zimbabwe without apologising. Out of all four Matabeleland border posts lawfully signed by King Lobhengula the Jameson Line is the only one that gives us problems. Genocide, hate, tribalism, oppression, immorality, disrespect and disorder of all manners is being exported by shona supremacists into our beautiful and peaceful country through the Jameson line. All patriotic Matabeles are asked to build a wall higher than the Berlin wall to keep ourselves from harmful foreign policies exported by Zimbabwe shona supremacist into our land, Matabeleland.

“Mnangagwa Spying On Me And My Family”: Mugabe

By Own Correspondent| Former President Robert Mugabe reportedly opened up to his friend, President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, that he feared for his family’s lives and was increasingly feeling unsafe in the country because of government spies.

In a facebook post, National Patriotic Front (NPF) Mwenezi alleged that Mugabe however vowed to die in Zimbabwe since “he would never abandon his people”.

” This is my home, I will die here. I will visit you as and when I want to but I will never abandon my people,” he said in response to an invitation to relocate to Equitorial Guinea.

Below is the full text by NPF Mwenezi.

ED SPYING ON MY FAMILY:MUGABE

Former president Robert Mugabe says the government is spying on his family and is scared of “what will happen to my family when I die.”

Mugabe poured his heart out to his friend President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who jetted into the country on Thursday to try and reconcile the 94-year-old politician with Mnangagwa.

The two met for three hours at Mugabe’s Blue Roof mansion in Harare where on Friday the former president also disclosed that he was increasingly feeling unsafe in Zimbabwe.

“The old man told president Nguema that ED’s administration was harassing his family and at some point he regretted the good things he had done for the current leaders,” a reliable source told The Standard.

“He spoke of how he shaped Mnangagwa and (vice- president Constantino) Chiwenga’s careers by helping them against all odds.

“He narrated the source of the problems and what he thinks should be done to restore the relationship.

“He spoke of how the military and other spy agencies were busy spying on his family, those who work for him being subjected to questioning again and again and to some extent his freedom being curtailed.”

Even as he complained, Mugabe, the source said, showed willingness to engage Mnangagwa

He complained that the military was harassing his “people” and he was unsure of what would become of his family if he was to die “today”.

“The purpose of the meeting was for Nguema to get an understanding of how his friend was coping and if he had challenges.

“The old man did not hide his frustration with the ED regime and what he had hoped would happen.

“He said the regime was blaming every bad thing on him as if he was running the country alone.

“He said the current regime blames him for the economic crisis yet Mnangagwa and Chiwenga were his strong pillars who implemented most government programmes.”

After the outpouring of emotions, sources said Nguema offered Mugabe refuge if he felt he was not welcome in Zimbabwe.

Mugabe reportedly responded by saying “this is my home, I will die here. I will visit you as and when I want to but I will never abandon my people”.

Chamisa Granted “Freedom Of The City” Of Beitbridge

By Paul Nyathi| Opposition MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa was on Saturday accorded the traditional “Freedom Of The City” of Beitbridge in a truly Venda custom.

On arrival at the packed Dulibadzimu Stadium for his MDC Alliance coalition rally, Chamisa got the shock of his life when ten Venda culturally dressed elderly women swiftly moved and slept silently in front of his feet with their heads down. (See picture)

The women as they fell down

The traditional act which some critics have described as bootlicking is actually a noble Venda way of receiving and greeting a special visitor to grant them freedom of the home they are visiting.

South Africa’s Jacob Zuma has had the same treatment done for him. The practice is also seen even in Shona cultures although at different times such as paying lobola.

Jacob Zuma getting the freedom of the city treatment

The women lie down motionless with open hands to receive what the visitor may have brought for the family. When the visitor had deposited what he may have brought only then do they stand up and celebrate the visitor’s arrival and declare them as part of the family they are visiting.

Chamisa with the help of some of the elders from Beitbridge gave the women cash in their hands before they stood up ullulating to grant him the freedom of the town he was visiting.

“What the women did is a perfect Venda culture which showed that Chamisa was accepted in the community,” said a Venda elder Martin Mudau who spoke to ZimEye.com after the rally.

Asked if they have done the same act to other previous political leaders who have visited the town before, Mudau said he has not seen it in a long time as some of the leaders are over protected by their security personnel.

“Even if our women may have wanted to do the same with other political leaders its difficult because they are not accessible due to heavy security,” he said.

Mukupe In Trouble After Beating Mnangagwa Aide’s Girlfriend

Deputy Finance Minister Terence Mukupe has claimed that he is in trouble after beating President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s top aide’s girlfriend.

Mukupe said that spokesman George Charamba is pursuing an agenda to humiliate him all because he (Mukupe) beat his alleged girlfriend at the polls.

Mukupe printed down in a Whatsapp group known as Zanu-PF Patriots, “Firstly, nowhere did the government say I made those statements. Secondly, ask yourself what was the motivation of Charamba to come up with that press statement without consulting me and even seeing the video of the meeting. It is a fact that Mavis Gumbo is a looser (sic) and it is a fact that Charamba has been sleeping with Mavis Gumbo.”

Meanwhile Charamba has denied that he authored the statement which condemns Mukupe’s military warning statements and he has directed the minister to address the person who issued the statement. Charamba told a weekly, “Who issued the statement that he is reacting to? So he is suggesting that the minister is so daft to the extent that he can’t write his statement on his own? He must tell that directly to the minister, not to me. I will not respond to other issues that are peripheral.

“Charamba Wants To Destroy Me For Defeating His Girlfriend”: Mukupe

Under fire Deputy Minister for Finance, Terence Mukupe has come out guns blazing accusing Emmerson Mnangagwa’s close ally, George Charamba of plotting to soil his name for defeating his girlfriend Mavis Gumbo in Zanu Pf’s primary elections.

Mukupe said this while dismissing a press statement issued by acting Information minister Simon Khaya Moyo condemning his utterances where he said the army did not topple former President Robert Mugabe to allow opposition leader Nelson Chamisa to rule.

Despite video evidence confirming Mukupe’s utterances, the deputy minister in the Finance ministry said he was quoted out of context.

Mugabe Tells On Mnangagwa Brutality

Former president Robert Mugabe has accused his successor Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government of allegedly spying on him and sabotaging his business interests, in the latest sign of a widening rift between the one-time close associates.

“The old man told president Nguema that ED’s administration was harassing his family and at some point he regretted the good things he had done for the current leaders,” a reliable source disclosed on Saturday.

“He was told that he should make amends with the current regime and stop working with the opposition as this was destroying his legacy.

“He was also told that Nguema would raise his complaints with Mnangagwa but most importantly, he must not fight them as this would affect his family interests.”

Nguema, the sources said, also narrated how he survived an attempted coup during the same time Mugabe was toppled.

He reportedly said: “you must be thankful my brother that these people left you alive and you are still at your home.”

“President Nguema said there seemed to be some capitalists who were funding illegal removal of sitting presidents for their benefit.”

During his 94th birthday celebrations in February, Mugabe complained that he was being mistreated by the new government and said he felt betrayed by Mnangagwa.

Nguema was in Zimbabwe on a two-day state visit, which saw him hold talks with Mnangagwa, but sources said the main reason he was in the country was to encourage Mugabe to make peace with the new administration.

Meanwhile, Mnangagwa yesterday told a memorial service at his farm in Masvingo that he was a “god of peace” who came after a “god of war” in a subtle dig at Mugabe. He also said no one gave him a chance to get the presidency after he was fired by Mugabe last year. – Standard

“Mnangagwa Protecting Mugabe”

By Own Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reiterated that he is a listening leader.

On his facebook page, Mnangagwa said  “A few months ago, I set up a Facebook page to help me to communicate better with the people of Zimbabwe, and in particular, to listen to your voices.

This platform is important for me as I am always seeking to find new ways to hear from my fellow Zimbabweans, and I really enjoy using it.

We have now reached 300,000 followers, and I wanted to thank all of you for engaging with me here. Although I can’t answer every question, I read your comments and do my best to answer when I can.

It is through engaging, listening and working together that we will build a new Zimbabwe for all.”

Below are some of the comments from his facebook page.

Robman Mads Maps- “I might say, I agree with you Mr president, in your endeavour to bring back our country’s glory, but I differ with you in shielding Mugabe to come in front to answer for his injustices misrule, during his time. Mugabe was not a God of Zimbabwe, but a mere human being, who was sent to work on our behalf. Why you protect him? Even though he is against your leadership, you still protect him, Why Mr president?

Kudzaishe Giga- “Thank you for being so engaging Mr President, much respect for your efforts. Tinokumbirawo Muite weed out the corrupt seeds around you as they derail your success story and the success of our beloved country. Thank you. Ndatenda hangu”.

Thompson Chimhanda- “We don’t trust you ED why? Today noone is arrested for corruption ,15 billion not recovered, and the disappeared Dzamara is still confusing”.

McDonald Chipunza, “Who is surrounding you Cde? We were told vaMugabe was surrounded by criminals and corrupt characters which you were determined to see to jail.

Is it true that the Mrs Chiwenga got a lucrative contract to arrange all gvt travells without going to tender or providing any required docs. Are you aware that this was done under your leadership?”

Tawanda Kuvheya- “People talked about Mpofu nothing was done. Now Mukupe please pull a shocker. If you can fire for internal politics you surely can fire a government level.”

Mpiwa Kudakwashe- “And l heard that G40 star Kasukuwere is back and my question.. so which criminals were you exactly targeting during that so called new dispensation and ZEC voter education why can’t you consider avo vana ve Zimbabwe vasina mabasa not kudiridza muriwo wakadiridzwaa kare #concernedcitizen”.

Riwilo Masulani- “With ex-ZNA comrades occupying key cabinet positions, what guarantees are there that the army will not reverse the outcome of the 2018 poll? Previously, the late Father Zimbabwe made a statement in the video below, and this week Deputy Minister Terence Mukupe and Josiah Hungwe repeated the same position. Could this also be the President’s position, that’s why Hon. Mukupe will not be reprimanded!”

Comfort Mute- “Murambwi gadzirisai nyaya yemari. Lets revert back to the USD thats what the market wants. Kana tikarohwa zvedu pa ecocash riri USD zviri nani mari inenge ine value not these papers of ours haa bodo hazvisi kuita.”

Khupe Fingered In Magwegwe Primary Elections Chaos

“Banda Cancelled Magwegwe constituency primary elections again”- REASON – HELP KHUPE writes Nkomazana Ndiweni.

Disenfranchise –
1. announce Far off venue
2. Announce last minute.
3. Cancel election.
4. Announce election and hold them at a house of one of the candidates
5. Announce elections mid week
6. Buss people from Luveve
7. Give ballot papers to other candidates of choice
8. Disregard people’s voice
9. Impose a candidate
10. Violence and intimidation

Magwegwe constituency primary elections have been canceled. The reason is Anele is writing his final law exam. Ordinary members have been sacrificed for his personal interests. Anele is preparing final law exams on Monday in Harare at the University of Zimbabwe. This has led the Bulawayo provincial leadership to cancel the primary elections. People have been sacrificed and Anele Khupe’s baby has won the day.

It is alleged that this has Chamisa’s blessings and Chamisa gave the Greenlight to shelve these crucial elections for Magwegwe constituency. The provincial leadership working under Khupe’s orders have taken precedence over the people’s needs. It is indeed incorrect that Chamisa gave the orders to postpone these elections.

It is my belief that we have to stand up and fight for our rights. It is however necessary for us as a people of Magwegwe constituency to demonstrate and demand our freedom as a people. As members of the community we must show great concern and take charge of proceedings on all affected areas.

On the other hand it has been said that elections where postponed because Anele’s vehicles where all in Matebeleland south where Chamisa is holding rallies. It is therefore argued that Anele needs time to campaign. This clearly indicates that the provincial leadership is fighting Khupe’s battles. Like I said in my last installments the Bulawayo provincial leadership talks Chamisa during the day and acts for Khupe at night. It is quite unfortunate that the people of Magwegwe to suffer.

The truth is that Banda and Khupe are afraid of the people of Magwegwe. They’re the most powerful people in Bulawayo.

They vote and always vote MDC. They want Khupe to win and hence want Anele to be candidate because he can’t win in Magwegwe and not waned by the people there. Just ask anyone. They don’t want Anele. He never attended a single day in parliament and he doesn’t even reside in Magwegwe by Luveve. The people know this and they’re determined to get the power back.

Banda announces elections in Magwegwe 24 hours before the ballot. He announces election to be helps at Nyamupingidza home. Nyamupingidza is a candidate too. This gets rejected. He then announces a new venue at the grounds 18 hours before elections. At 10 pm, Banda sends a text to cancel the election. People wake up at 8 am to attend the poll. At 11, no one came and then told they are no elections.  The venue is also far from Magwegwe to frustrate the elderly. This is clear disenfranchisement and Zanu will do the same to us.

We need a date 7 days before the poll. We need a real venue and prepare for the poll. This is wrong and Magwegwe people  want their vote. What are there afraid of in Magwegwe?
People must remove Banda and his Khupe if he continues his charade.

Chairman Banda must think of the people first and individuals second. I’m terribly frustrated. However as a party cardre I’m solidly behind the party president and all the leadership. It is true that no one this time will push me away from this victorious party. Being an MP or not is the same as long as president is to be at state house

The party is suffering and surprisingly many are dying in silence. Now is the time to say everything out in the open. In order for the National Council and president become aware of these machinations they might seem how detrimental it is to the party in Bulawayo.

The Counselor Sithole, I understand spoke to Chamisa and advised to allow Anele to be present so that he can be beaten whilst there to avoid unnecessary complains of being rigged if elections are done during his absence. In other words it m7akes a lot of sense but let’s the consider the populace not an individual.

The notice to cancel the election was from the deputy organizing person and Tsepiso was also surprised by the cancelation of the primary elections in Magwegwe constituency.I reiterate that we as the affected people of Magwegwe constituency must rise up and demand that just be done on us by allowing the primaries to take place in Magwegwe constituency. We can not bent rules to accommodate certain individuals.

Thank You ??

Mnangagwa Aide: Mugabe Alone Is Guilty Of the Gukurahundi Cruel Killings He Must Pay

The top Emmerson Mnangagwa aide, Victor Matemadanda has said former President Robert Mugabe alone is guilty of the Gukurahundi massacre.

Matemadanda added saying Mugabe should face the consequences before he dies. He said, “As the Commander-in-Chief, these issues that are coming up now about (Gukurahundi) are all a political gimmick.

“These are just political games, the person answerable before death is Robert Mugabe. Even the commanders that were deployed were working under his instruction, as the Commander-in-Chief. Why is the President called the Commander-in-Chief, because he is the one who instigates and authorises any instructions to do with the welfare of the nation…

“We need to engage and finish it off while Mugabe is still alive, Gushungo Holdings ine mombe dzakawanda (has many cattle). Traditionally when compensating in our culture, we use cattle. I want to be in the committee which will make Mugabe pay. His kids dance on top of cars so the former First Family members must pay…If anyone wants to deal with the author of Gukurahundi, that person is Robert Mugabe.”

Suspected CIO Abducts Man, Assault, Strip Him Naked And Dumps Him

Andrew Nyakatawe wearing clothes given to him by a good Samaritan

By Own Correspondent| Andrew Nyakatawe (52), an MDC T official in Makoni Central was on Friday night allegedly abducted in Mabvazuva township, Rusape by people suspected to be members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).

In a facebook post, Pishai Muchauraya, an MDC T official, alleged that the suspected CIO operatives took Nyakatawe to Nyamapembera river about 10 km out of Rusape towards Nyazura where they assaulted him and stripped him naked.

“They assaulted him before stripping him naked and left him in the middle of the bush,” alleged Muchauraya.

“They accused him of supporting Patrick Sagandira one of the party’s parliamentary hopefuls in Makoni Central.”

Muchauraya said Nyakatawe travelled back to Rusape naked before a good Samaritan offered him clothes at Vhudzi farm.

“He had to make the trip back to Rusape on foot in his birth costume before a good Samaritan offered him clothes at Vhudzi farm,” said Muchauraya.

Nyakatawe reported the matter at Rusape police station but no arrests were made.

Efforts to get a comment from the police were futile.

UN Calls for International Support of Mnangagwa? To What End?

By Nomusa Garikai| “Bishow Parajuli, UN resident coordinator and resident representative for the UN Development Programme, said now was the time to support the southern African nation,” reported Africa News Agency.

“I think the international community should be very open, the UN should be very open, to engage and partner with – and support Zimbabwe – to come out of some of the major crises they have had in the last several years so they can stand on their own,” he told UN News during a recent visit to New York.

The best help the UN can give Zimbabwe to help the country come out of these major economic, social and political crises is to make sure the country holds free, fair and credible elections and finally lay the solid foundation for building a competent, accountable and democratic government. The worst this the UN can do here is help the junta get away with yet another rigged election by turning a blind eye to what this regime is doing under the pretext “engaging and partnering” the regime!

The people of Zimbabwe have suffered greatly these last 38 years because we were stuck with a corrupt and tyrannical regime that rigged the vote and used violence to stay in power. We KNOW what we want; free, fair and credible elections.

If the UN wants to help the people of Zimbabwe then it must support them in demanding that the elections must be free, fair and credible! No if! No but!

We also know what we DO NOT want; to be patronised by people who care more about their cushy and well-paid jobs and hobnobbing with the rich and powerful ruling elite and do not give a damn about the downtrodden. –

Convicted Thief Returns To Jail

State Media- No evil dooms us hopelessly except the evil we love, and desire to continue in, and make no effort to escape from, once said novelist Marry Anne Evans in her 19th century satire, Daniel Deronda.

And no one understands this better than Nyasha Kandira, a 22-year-old theft convict from Beatrice.

Having been convicted barely two months after his release on a Presidential amnesty in March, it appears the youthful Kandira is doomed in his unbecoming conduct and does not intend to quit.

“After close to a year in prison you would expect that one has repented but for him it’s like he saw nothing, he heard nothing and he learnt nothing,” says one of the guards at Harare Central Prison where Kandira is now serving a two-year sentence.

Yet in his own words, Kandira does not see himself at fault, but the world around him, his parents, the society and the economy are to blame.

“It wasn’t going to turn any other way for me except to return,” he said with a stone face, perched on the red floor in one of the penitentiary’s admin digs.

“I don’t get along with my stepmother so I found it hard to live with my parents after I was released.
“And without a proper education and a proper job, I didn’t have any other means to survive on my own but to steal.”

Perhaps the most intriguing part of Kandira’s story is that he returned to steal from the very prison which he had been set free from a month earlier.

“Like previously they caught me stealing a phone, this time from the house of one of the prison guards,” Kandira said.

Pressed on where he found the guts to steal from the very people who looked after him, Kandira inhaled deeply, as if to savour the aroma of burning crumps of lunchtime sadza which wafted through the door.

“I was hungry and when you are hungry you are not afraid of anything and you can do anything,” he finally answered.

“I was hoping I could find a phone, a laptop or something I could sell quickly to buy food.”
Kandira dropped from school at the age of 12 upon completing Grade 7.
Despite his hardened and brazen expression, Kandira accepts that he has a problem and longs for help.

“I do not enjoy it here, if only I could get assistance to learn a skill or start a business I am sure I would lead a normal life,” he says.
“If the economy was performing well maybe I would go and find a job, anything that would keep me away from crime, I will take.”

However, Kandira is just one of the many perpetual offenders who since the amnesty are already back in the dungeons.

According to Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, 44 of the 3 000 pardoned convicts are back in reformatory facilities across the country.  Prison officials say while the majority have been convicted on small crimes, the trend exposes the difficulties that convicts face in fitting back into society.

Such a scenario is typified by 33-year-old Hazvinei Tambara who before the amnesty had served five of a nine-year sentence for robbery.

Tambara had during his stay in prison defied odds to pass his “O” and “A” Level studies before attaining two diplomas in theology.

Yet with all the promise, Tambara still found it difficult to stay off crime, giving life to Mark Twain’s adage, “give man a reputation as an early riser and he can sleep till noon”.
“I know the wardens are disappointed because they expected better things from me, especially given the education I attained while I was in here,” he says.

“But you see, to survive you need a lot of things like food and clothes and having an education does not mean that all of these things are readily available to you.

“The next thing is you resort to the bad ways because you just want to survive for that day.”
Tambara also says the society, including his relatives and wife, have not embraced him, thereby living him in the cold.

“In an economy like ours it’s very difficult to find a job and without the support of your family, it becomes even more difficult,” he says.

“I have been in prison for too long I have lost touch of the reality and even if I had the desire to make things work I need someone to take me by the hand and lead me. “And I am not just saying this for myself but for others who are in my situation because the truth is that no one wants to be here in prison.”

Tambara feels betrayed by non-governmental and church organisations who pledge to assist prisoners, only to disappear when they are released. Another pardoned convict who has since returned to the cells, Fungai Rondozayi (31), blamed social neglect.

“When I was released I was happy and all was well for me but I soon faced realities when I got home,” he says.

“After spending eight months in jail, my wife left and stopped paying rent for a small room we rented in Chitungwiza.

“So when I got there the landlord was furious and demanding his money so I had to look for a job.”
Rondozayi then started doing part-time jobs to raise money to pay rent. “I then met someone who wanted me to mould bricks for him but I didn’t have enough tools to do the job.

“So I borrowed a drum from someone but the person would not lend me so I ended up stealing it from him and that led to my arrest.”

Questions have been raised about the criteria used to rehabilitate convicts. As such, policy makers have been challenged to look into the issue and adjust the system accordingly so that it can rehabilite offenders properly. – state media

Mnangagwa Promises Not To Punish “Jonso, Tyson”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has promised not to punish his political enemies,  in what strongly pointed at professor Jonathan Moyo and the recently returned former minister, Saviour Kasukuwere.

Mnangagwa was quoted by the state media saying he will not seek revenge against his opponents. The development connected well with his previous proclamation made soon after becoming president while on a visit to South Africa last year December.

Mnangagwa yesterday said he will never seek retribution against those who tormented him before he was temporarily hounded out of Government in November last year, saying he will continue to be an ambassador for peace, love and unity.

Addressing thousands of people, including members of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) who were gathered at Mnangagwa Farm in Masvingo at the memorial service of his late nephew Garikai Nyathi — killed in a road traffic accident near Nyika Growth Point in March this year — the Head of State and Government urged Zimbabweans to promote peace, love and unity in the country.

President Mnangagwa, who was subjected to incessant attacks by the former First Lady Grace Mugabe at Zanu-PF Youth Interface rallies, which culminated in his expulsion from Government and Zanu-PF on November 6 and November 8, 2017 respectively, said he will continue to preach love and unity among Zimbabweans.

“Wherever I go, I preach the gospel of unity, I preach the gospel of love, I always exhort Zimbabweans to unite, to live in harmony and work for the development of our country, and this will surely guarantee me a ticket to Heaven,’’ he jokingly said to roars of laughter from the crowd.

“Have you ever heard me preaching the gospel of hate? Those who used to do that are there and you know them, those who were at the receiving end of endless attacks (himself) always stood for what is right,” he said.

President Mnangagwa said he never thought that one day he would be President, especially after his unceremonious dismissal from Government by the then President Mr Robert Mugabe.

“God has his own way of doing things, is it not true? The day I left the country as a border jumper I never knew I was going to come back and be the person I am today. I was pre-occupied with thinking about how I was going to live in exile as a border jumper, but God plans in his own ways and what God plans, no person has the power to stop it.’’

He assured Zimbabweans that he will dutifully work as a servant of the people to lead the country to prosperity.

“I want to be a servant of the people, I want to continue preaching peace, love and unity, encouraging Zimbabweans to live in harmony. In the same line, I want to appeal to traditional leaders to promote unity and harmony in their areas of jurisdiction. I also want to thank churches for the work they are doing because there is no church that preaches the gospel of hate and encourages people to fight,’’ he said.

The President assured churches that he will continue to uphold the Constitution, which guarantees Zimbabweans the right to worship in churches of their choice.

“The truth of the matter is that Government is responsible for the physical needs of its citizens, but churches play the important role of moulding the spiritual aspect,” he said.
President Mnangagwa, who constantly referred to Bible passages, urged Zimbabweans to pray relentlessly for the country to prosper.

‘’There are some who might dismiss me, saying what is this man who was a guerilla talking about when they hear me preaching, not knowing that during that time (liberation struggle) we were also guided by God to win the war (armed struggle) and now we are asking for the same God’s hand for our country to have peace and prosperity.’’

‘’Now we are praying for peace, peace, peace, love, love, love, unity, unity amongst all Zimbabweans. We want all the churches to be free to worship, free to worship their God and I will make sure the Constitution of this country is observed for churches to be free to worship,’’ he said.

He took the opportunity to encourage politicians to be God fearing, saying being a President or a Cabinet Minister is not a passport to inherit the Kingdom of God.
President Mnangagwa said his administration will not relent in its quest to rid the nation of corruption.

Turning to his late nephew’s family, the President assured them that they will always be looked after.
The President narrated the late Nyathi’s history, up to the time of his untimely death in March and praised him for worshiping God during his lifetime.

President Mnangagwa also thanked Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, the leader of ZCC, for taking some time off his busy schedule to join the Mnangagwa family in remembering Nyathi.

The memorial service was attended by top Government and Zanu-PF officials, among them Special Advisor in the Office of the President Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa and his wife Cde Monica Mutsvangwa, who is also Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs; and Senator Josaya Hungwe, who is Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs.
