The former President Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace met her match today in Mashonaland Central Province as angry small scale miners chased her from a mine. It is reported that Grace Mugabe approached a mine owned by hundreds of small scale miners at Monde 4 in Mazowe and ordered the miners to vacate the area as she claimed ownership of the rich fields. (ALSO LISTEN TO INTERVIEW WITH MINE OWNER) The miners responded by singing the popular song “kutonga kwaro” and refused to vacate the land and added that they owned the mine. A group of angry miners then charged at the former “powerful” First Lady leading her to leave in a huff with tears dropping from her eyes. After the circus Grace proceeded to Mazowe police station and filed a report and claimed that she had been harassed. One of the mine owners speaks to ZimEye below –
Former CIO Boss Reunites With Mnangagwa
War Veterans Thursday afternoon resolved to readmit former Zanu PF Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa and War Veterans chairperson, Jabulani Sibanda into the ex-freedom fighters movement in bid aimed at bolstering President Emmerson Mnangagwa campaign ahead of this year’s watershed election.
Former Zanu PF spokesperson, Rugare Gumbo, who was also booted out of Zanu PF and the Association has also bounced back.
Addressing journalists following their National Executive meeting in the capital today, Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) Secretary General, Victor Matemadanda said the resolution to re admit expelled members will be forwarded to the ruling ZANU PF for ratification.
“What came out most was the resolution of asking the party to readmit all expelled war veterans especially the likes of comrade Jabulani Sibanda, Didymus Mutasa, Rugare Gumbo and others back into the party because we feel the party becomes strong and strong when people are working together” said Matemadanda.
The trio was booted out of the party ahead of the 2014 Zanu PF congress for hobnobbing with the former Deputy President Mujuru who was accused of wanting to topple the former President Robert Mugabe.
War veterans further resolved to appoint Hoyini Samuel Bhila as the association acting provincial chairperson for Harare Province.
“I think this is going to revitalise the work of Harare province because we have a lot of challenges in Harare and war veterans instead of concentrating on trivial issues must work very hard to make sure that the party gains the support it that it had in the 1980s and 1980s” added Matemadanda.
The association also expressed gratitude to the party which has given war veterans a green light to contest in the 2018 general elections in all contested levels.
Matemadanda added that war veterans will descend with heavy fist on land barons and other unscrupulous elements in a bid to curtail corruption which continue to go unabated at most cropping in Harare alleged to include unnamed leaders.
Meanwhile the association raised concerns regarding their welfare which they said has been affected by the current economic challenges facing the country.
“War veterans, war collaborators and ex detainees are the poorest of the Zimbabwean society and under normal circumstances you would want their welfares improved and this is what we are working on,” noted Matemadanda.
The war veterans needs remain a subject of debate an issue that sparked furore with their former patron Mr Mugabe who they later dumped alleging that he had been captured by his wife Grace Mugabe and G40 aligned members who are now in exile.
The association also raised concern over social media which they said has become a weapon for expelled party members in their battle to discredit the new dispensation.- Zanu PF Patriots
Chamisa Remember Felix
Open letter To Chamisa
We write this letter to weigh in on whom we believe is the right person for the Vice President Post left by Thokozani Khupe and who also should be the vice for the alliance and why.
Hon. Felix Magalela Sibanda has shown loyalty to you and lack power hungriness to cause you problems unlike the other people surrounding you. Yes, you are surrounded by charlatans who will stab you in the back since they also want to be presidents and we hereby write this letter to make a declaration that will protect and your presidency. Welshman Ncube, Tendai Biti and others have their own parties and must not be near the Vice Presidency because MDC- T is the driver of the movement and alliance.
Felix Magalela Mafa Sibanda stoped the possible blood shed that could have occurred had Bulawayo announced the province for Thokozani Khupe who could have caused us problems in achieving a generational change. Felix Magalela Sibanda is a gentleman and respected by us the youth and has a lot of wisdom to assist and be by your side. Plainly, he is not power hungry and won’t cause you heartaches and we recommend that he be appointed for this will please us and motivate us more. We can sleep at night.
We continue to read on how he is making the effort to bring unity in all provinces and regions without promoting regionalism unlike all others.
Felix Mafa Sibanda, was born in Insiza, and has also lived here with us in Bulawayo since 1989, involved in the community as an educationalist, activist, community Organising, Hon legislature for Magwegwe. We have also seen how he has been politically pushed down by Thokozani Khupe, not because he is bad but because he is genuine to the causes of the people and a good man. That was threatening to some to have a man who served people with love. Instead of rewarding him, his good deeds are thwarted with fettered hate. We believe that his long anti Mugabe history which started in 1981 is second to non and this new generation must know this.
When everyone was on the fence, he came out for you the same way Chiwengwa came out for our rival Mnangagwa.
We believe that he is he man to give you the right wisdom to be be by your side and give you constructive advise without endangering our movement.
He lost his first born son in Gukurahundi, making him a valuable Father of Zinbabwe 2 after being a personal friend to Our very father Zimbabwe Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo. We need this man near will carry the stature of Matebeleland to make our Country great again.
We are youths for all Bulawayo districts that make Matebeleland as whole and we believe that Felix Magalela Mafa will be able to galvanize the rural areas, relate to the chiefs and the ordinary for he carries himself humbly without the elitist technocratic high horse of many that surround you.
We need a motivating leader who can drive our people to the polls and deliver an resounding defeat with high margins in Matebeleland.
We have loved MaKhupe, but she honestly failed to capture our rural Matebeleland regions except
Bulawayo, a feminists hub. We are not just about Bulawayo but the entire Matebeleland and Zimbabwe, something, Hon Felix Magalela Sibanda will deliver.
We want Hon. Felix Magalela Mafa Sibanda for Vice President of the MDC T and the Vice President of the Alliance and our new government in waiting. We trust him and we believe in him.

Mnangagwa Appoints Gwaunza New Deputy Chief Justice
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has sworn in Supreme Court judge, Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza as the Deputy Chief Justice at brief ceremony at State House in Harare this afternoon.
Justice Gwaunza’s elevation to become the Deputy Chief Justice filled the gap left by the promotion of Chief Justice Luke Malaba last year.
Justice Gwaunza was appointed in terms of the new constitution following the gazetting of Constitutional Amendment number 1 last year which gives the President powers to appoint a Chief Justice, the Deputy Chief Justice and the High Court Judge President after consultation with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Her appointment also marks a departure from the system where the appointment required the candidate to be interviewed by the JSC.
Justice Gwaunza is a long serving member of JSC and was appointed as judge of the High Court in August 1998 and then Supreme Court judge in November 2008.
Speaking after taking the oath of office, Justice Ngwaunza said she is determined to continue working hard and help eradicate corruption from whatever quarter it rears its ugly head from.
Justice Gwaunza was the second woman to sit on the Supreme Court bench after Justice Vernanda Ziyambi and was a legal practitioner of the High Court in 1987.
She was the founding member and past president of Zimbabwe Women Judges and member of the International Association of Women Judges.
She also chaired the Wills and Inheritance Project, a joint venture of the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs and the British Department of International Development.
Scores of people and relatives including her husband, daughter, sisters and nieces were overjoyed to witness her swearing in ceremony, with some mobbing the president and his deputies for selfies.- state media
‘Mnangagwa Rally A Monumental Flop’

AirZim Being Sabotaged
The dodgy project involving Air Zimbabwe (AirZim) and new airline Zimbabwe Airways is getting murkier, amid allegations that some senior government officials are deliberately sabotaging the debt-ridden national flag carrier to pave way for the new private airline, which will also be emblazoned with national colours.
Aviation sources told the Zimbabwe Independent this week that Zim Airways planes, which were bought using public funds provided by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, will soon land in the country. The planes include four Boeing 777 bought in Malaysia and two Embraer ERJ145 bought from the United States.
Last year, the Independent reported that Transport minister Jorum Gumbo and former AirZim chief operating officer Simba Chikore, who is former president Robert Mugabe’s son-in-law, have been assisting in setting up the private airline at the expense of the flag carrier, AirZim, which fell under their purview and supervision, raising a serious conflict of interest on their part.
There were indications that following Mugabe’s ouster via a military coup in November last year, the deal had crumbled, as President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga, were opposed to the arrangement. The involvement of their allies has, however, reportedly softened their stance.
Aviation sources say there was a well-calculated plan to destroy AirZim to the benefit of Zim Airways.
“The initial plan was simple; use money from RBZ to buy planes; register them under Zim Airways; get an air operator licence, then compete with AirZim, but because AirZim has one plane and they have six, AirZim would definitely lose out and eventually collapse,” said an aviation source.
“The plan has changed a bit and is now centred on ensuring that a partnership between AirZim and Zim Airways is reached along the way. Zim Airways will then bring in their planes and a bit of capital, thereby assuming control of the company, which will result in board and managerial changes.”
The plan, aviation sources say, also involves ensuring that AirZim does not get funding support to cripple its operations.
Gumbo this week, however, told the Independent that he had facilitated Zim Airways to purchase aircraft from Air Malaysia after AirZim failed to raise funds to buy the equipment.
Information gathered shows that Zimbabwe Airways is owned by a local firm, Zimbabwe Aviation Leasing Company (ZALC). An enquiry with the Deeds Office in Harare indicated ZALC was registered under file number 3015/12. The file was, however, missing from the office, meaning the directors could not be immediately ascertained. Aviation experts say although it is saddled with debt, AirZim can be revived if the company’s strategic turnaround plan is implemented.
AirZim immediately requires US$45 million to be operational, according to AirZim’s Strategic Turnaround Plan (2018-2020). The airline requires US$26 million to settle its foreign debt; US$6 million to buy three Embraer ERJ145; US$4,6 million for International Air Transport Association (IATA) clearing house joining fees, among other financial obligations. Official documents show that as at December 2017, AirZim had local debt totalling US$341 million.
Among some of its weaknesses, according to the plan, are a shaky balance sheet, debt overhang, antiquated equipment, thin route network, high litigation, low level of automation and an absence from the IATA clearing house.
Locally-based German aviation expert Jerry Haas, who has been posting accurate accounts on the Zim Airways project, recently posted on microblogging website Twitter saying the Zim Airways deal was reaching finality.
“#ZimbabweAirways back on track. Documentation on the final stage. Should be cleared to take-off soon,” Haas twitted on March 21.
Initially Haas had tweeted that government would wind down AirZim before allowing Zim Airways, which is emblazoned with national colours to take to the skies. This initial arrangement had created a possible conflict of interest between Gumbo and Zim Airways.
Gumbo, however, insisted he would not allow the airline to collapse, although it was failing to attract partners. He said negotiations between AirZim and Ethiopian Airlines collapsed after the latter wanted to set up a regional hub in Harare, that could relegate AirZim to local routes, adding talks between Air Malaysia and the national flag carrier also hit a snag due to AirZim’s weak balance sheet.
“I will not allow AirZim to collapse. I approached 10 airlines to partner us, but only had some discussions with Ethiopian Airlines and Air Malaysia,” Gumbo said in an interview.
“I have other plans which came after the new dispensation, which is making my life easier. I have some people contacting us to assist, partner or purchase some planes. AirZim as a business, should be viable, but for that to happen, staff culture and attitude should change. That is what will assist us.” – Zimbabwe Independent
SECRET TALKS: Mnangagwa, Mugabe Finding Each Other
President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his predecessor, Robert Mugabe, are laying the ground for talks to thaw frosty relations between them, the Daily News can exclusively reveal.
The first face-to-face meeting between the erstwhile comrades since the soft coup that ousted Mugabe last November is likely to be held mid next month.
Relations between Mugabe and his former protégé are at an all-time low as the former president accuses his successor of ruling the country “illegally”.
Mnangagwa has responded by rebuking Mugabe, saying he has no time for an old man with a propensity to forget things.
Despite publicly puffing their chests and feigning bravado, the Daily News can reveal that the man who was at the centre of delicate talks that led to Mugabe’s forced resignation last November — Roman Catholic cleric Father Fidelis Mukonori — has yet again been dispatched by the “new dispensation” to intervene and try to sweet-talk Mugabe into silence and engagement with Mnangagwa.
Mukonori, along with businessman Jimayi Muduvuri, who is the patron of the Zimbabwe Amalgamated Churches Council, initially visited the former president on Friday last week and then on Tuesday this week to set the ball rolling.
While details of the discussion remain a closely-guarded secret, speculation has it that the mediators are preparing the ground for talks between Mugabe and Mnangagwa by defining the rules of engagement and establishing substantive issues from both sides to form the agenda of the discussions.
Contacted for comment, Mukonori said “yes, I visited him” but declined to comment further, saying he was attending to something with the police.
On the other hand, Muduvuri fumed “who told you that”?
Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba, was not picking up his mobile.
Although Muduvuri and Mukonori could not be drawn into commenting on the issue, the former recently indicated that he will try to bring the two leaders to the talking table to repair a relationship of nearly 60 years that was broken by Mnangagwa’s dismissal from both government and Zanu PF in November last year.
A few days after Mnangagwa’s dismissal, the military responded by stepping into the administration of the country and Zanu PF in a soft coup that ousted Mugabe after 37 years of continuous rule.
“Now, as the church, we are saying that whoever is pushing Mugabe back into politics is wrong. It is evil to abuse such an elderly person. Mnangagwa came to power to defend this revolution and all churches are behind the president. Some have asked me to engage the former president so that the two find each other and I have already done that,” Muduvuri told the Daily News on March 11.
While Mugabe had been allowed to lead a quiet life after losing power, the tables were turned when he started speaking out against Mnangagwa through an interview granted to local and foreign journalists at his palatial Borrowdale home, popularly known as the Blue Roof.
During the interview, he berated Mnangagwa for seizing power and said his successor betrayed him.
Mugabe also left the door open for talks with Mnangagwa, saying: “I don’t hate Emmerson, I brought him into government. I would want to work with him. But he must be proper, he is improper where he is. Illegal”.
Since then, the new administration has toughened its stance against him with an investigation against former first lady Grace Mugabe now underway over allegations of illegal ivory trade.
Workers at the Blue Roof who confided in the Daily News said Mugabe was desperate to live a quiet life as long as he is left in peace.
“He was literally crying on Tuesday saying that all the other veterans like (Josiah) Tongogara, (Herbert) Chitepo, (Joshua) Nkomo, (Simon) Muzenda are all gone; he said he thought he would rely on Mnangagwa but he has abandoned him,” the source privy to the engagements said.
Sources said in one of his recent meetings with Mugabe, Mukonori reportedly brought documents detailing Grace’s alleged dealings in Zimbabwe and South Africa with the trade in ivory taking centre stage.
However, the source told the Daily News that the former first lady said she had nothing to hide and was ready for her day in court.
On Friday last week, Grace was with her sister and the wife of former minister of Mines Walter Chidhakwa when Mukonori’s team spent more than six hours in talks with Mugabe, sources told the Daily News.
At the first meeting, the source said, Mugabe expressed concern with Mnangagwa’s Cabinet because of the presence of soldiers.
“He was concerned by the presence of soldiers in Cabinet and he said they have no business there and must go back to the barracks. When he was asked if he was part of the National Patriotic Front, he said people now take advantage of him because of old age but he will never leave Zanu PF,” the source said.
Throughout their engagements, Grace has been occupying herself with other staff while her husband engages the intermediaries.
Mukonori and Muduvuri’s mediation comes a few weeks after former ministers Walter Mzembi and Makhosini Hlongwane had approached Mugabe with a proposal to mediate between him and Mnangagwa.
Mugabe recently revealed that he believed that Mzembi and Hlongwane had been sent to him by the system (government).
Mugabe resigned in November last year after 37 years in power, following a military intervention as parliamentarians initiated an impeachment process against him.
Earlier, thousands of people had marched from the historic Zimbabwe Grounds in Highfield — ironically the venue of Mugabe’s triumphal return rally back in 1980 — heading towards State House, calling for him to resign.
The former president, who is widely regarded as the architect of Zimbabwe’s economic collapse, was later to be recalled by his party’s extraordinary central committee meeting that also booted out his wife Grace and other Generation 40 (G40) kingpins Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere and Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao among others.

Tension Escalates Over Candidate Selection In MDC Alliance

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
Tension is escalating in the candidate selection process within the MDC Alliance, it has emerged.
Aspiring MDC Parliamentary candidates are unwilling to create space for aspirants from fellow alliance partners.
The bickering has rocked the MDC Alliance such that the coalition is likely to crumble before the elections, analysts have said.
“Look my brother, I am from PDP and I am an aspiring Parliamentary candidate but an MDC official has indicated that he will not allow me to stand as a candidate because he says it is his constituency.
This means the MDC officials are unwilling to accommodate their alliance partners,” fumed the PDP official.

We Do Not Take Orders From Zanu PF- City Council
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
Masvingo City Council(MCC) has dismissed claims that there are discussions between the local authority and a Zanu PF official regarding the payment of outstanding water bills.
Eddison Zvobgo Junior, an aspiring Zanu Parliamentary candidate for Masvingo Urban Constituency last week claimed he had approached the city council in a bid to resolve the standoff between the local authority and residents. The city council says it is owed millions of dollars in unpaid water bills by residents.
Zvobgo further indicated he implored the city council to consider the plight of the hard pressed residents, given the economic situation in the country.
However Masvingo City Council treasurer, Thandiwe Dube said she was unaware of the negotiations.
“I am not aware of the said negotiations. As a matter of fact we do not take orders from individuals who are outside the city council hierarchy,” said Dube.
ED’s Son In Law Fights Makamba Over Telecel
A renewed ownership wrangle has erupted over the country’s third-largest mobile network operator, Telecel Zimbabwe, following the return of self-exiled businessman and co-founder James Makamba after 12 years in banishment, the Zimbabwe Independent has established. Makamba returned home immediately after former president Robert Mugabe was toppled in a military coup last November, paving way for President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Since his return, he has been trying to resuscitate his crumbling business empire by grabbing control of the telecoms company, now controlled by government and local lawyer Gerald Mlotshwa.
Mlotshwa last year emerged a significant Telecel shareholder after he secured Makamba’s 40% shareholding. This followed reports the controversial tycoon had sold his stake in Empowerment Corporation (EC) to a local consortium that included Mlotshwa and businessman George Manyere. Manyere later exited the deal, leaving Mlotshwa with the contested shareholding.
However, sources say Makamba is now alleging that Mlotshwa, who was his legal counsel, was acting as a proxy, as he could not conduct business in Zimbabwe during his stay in exile.
Besides fighting for the EC shares, Makamba and Mlotshwa are locked in a fierce battle to buy Telecel’s controlling 60% shareholding held by government, adding a new dimension to the messy saga.
Makamba, a former Zanu PF MP and central committee member, fled the country in 2005 after he was accused of allegedly externalising some funds, although it is widely believed the real problem was social, involving Mugabe’s family.
His business interests span the retail, telecommunications, mining, agricultural, property and professional consultancy sectors, as well as digital publishing, even if he has lost some of his assets over the years.
Sources told the Independent Makamba was now vigorously trying to bounce back and assume control of some of his business interests run by proxies.
Makamba, together with women’s empowerment lobbyist Jane Mutasa, owned the majority shareholding in the EC-held shares through Kestrel Corporation. He had 95% of the EC shares.
Information, Communication and Technology minister Supa Mandiwanzira this week confirmed the issue, but said government, Telecel’s majority shareholder, is distancing itself from the new fight.
Makamba said he would only comment if the Independent reveals its sources to him.
“I will certainly give you the story, but I would want to know who your source is first. Name your source and I will talk, otherwise it is like someone comes to you and says I hear that your father is not your father,” he said.
Mlotshwa’s personal assistant said he was out of the country. His mobile was constantly on voicemail. He did not respond to emailed questions.
Mandiwanzira said besides offers from Makamba and Mlotshwa, there were several other bidders for the government equity stake in the mobile telecoms operator.
“We have been approached by so many entities claiming shareholding in Empowerment Corporation and as government we have not sought to entangle ourselves in the disputes,” he said.
“What we have advised is that those who feel short changed must approach the courts for redress. As for a dispute between Makamba and Mlotshwa; Makamba came to my office and told me that he had not sold any of his shares and that Mlotshwa was only his legal counsel.
“The truth of the matter is that they are not the only ones interested in buying the Telecel stake. We have received interest from different people and several organisations who are interested in buying government’s 60% shareholding. I don’t think it would be fair to disclose their names to the media. We don’t conduct business that way.”
Mandiwanzira said he had no mandate to dispose the government’s stake; a position he said could change depending on whether bidders provide proof of funding as well as show capacity to pay outstanding obligations such as licence fees.
“I want to make it very clear that I’m merely a custodian of government assets as the minister of ICT. I don’t have an individual say on government assets. As far as I’m concerned, I have no mandate to sell government’s 60% shareholding in Telecel to Makamba, Mlotshwa or anybody.
“But that position may change should there be a serious offer backed by proof of payment, ability to pay off outstanding obligations that are due to shareholders of Telecel and that change does not come from me, but from my principal and cabinet.”
Mandiwanzira has not been spared the drama in Telecel’s endless saga as he has often been blamed for having a vested interest in the deal, an allegation he denies outright.
“My answer is very simple. I knew of Telecel shareholding being sold by Vimplecom. I’m also the one who went to government and said we can’t allow the shareholding to change hands without our involvement and it’s high time we bought this business, clean it up and sanitise it. If I was interested in buying Telecel I would have done so without involving government,” Mandiwanzira said.
“President Emmerson Mnangagwa is very clear when dealing with government assets, he is serious when it comes to issues of corruption, so if they are dreaming that it will happen they must stop dreaming.” – Zimbabwe Independent
Mutambara Caught In Plagiarism Storm
Former Oxford University scholar and one of the country’s finest academics, Professor Arthur Mutambara, is accused of defrauding the Global Fund of US$191 000 after his Mutambara Science and Technology Foundation submitted a heavily plagiarised consultancy assignment.
Mutambara, who was the country’s deputy Prime Minister during the inclusive government era between 2009 and 2013, was awarded two contracts by the Global Fund, a non-profit organisation, whose headquarters are in Switzerland, for consultancy work.
In an investigation report titled Supplier Wrongdoing and Global Fund Non-Compliance with Procurement Regulations, The Mutambara Foundation and the Global Fund Sourcing Department, the Global Fund accuses the foundation and Mutambara of misrepresenting plagiarised work as its own original work product.
The report, dated December 16, 2016, reveals that for Contract 1, the Mutambara Foundation was paid US$115 000 in consultancy fees for four written documents.
The Office of the Inspector-General’s (OIG) review of these documents determined that a substantial portion of the written work was not the original work of the Mutambara Foundation and that the original sources of the work were not credited.
Contacted for a comment yesterday, Mutambara said the issues raised in the report were resolved internally.
“This is a three-year-old false and malicious report which was internally resolved with the Global Fund CEO Mark Dybul. I was not even involved in the performance of the work. The report is being brought up and circulated three years later by political opponents to tarnish my image, in this election year,” Mutambara said.
According to the report, the sourcing department of the Global Fund in December 2013, entered into Contract 1 with the Mutambara Foundation for a project entitled, “A Technology Solution to Tackle Thefts, Diversion and Counterfeit Health Products in Africa”.
A manager in the Global Fund Sourcing Department is accused of awarding the contract to the Mutambara Foundation without going through a competitive tender process. The total value of Contract 1 was US$155 000, which constituted consultancy fees of US$115 000 and US$40 000 in travel expenses.
Under Contract 1, Mutambara submitted four written documents for which he was paid for and they include: an interim report titled An Overview of Detection Technology Platforms, August 6, 2014; a PowerPoint interim report presentation titled An Overview of Detection Technology Platforms, August 7, 2014; a final project report, A Technology Solution to Tackle, [sic] Thefts, Diversions, and Counterfeit Health Products in Africa, December 10, 2014; and a PowerPoint document titled The Detection Technology, Deployment Algorithm, December 10, 2014 (Deployment Algorithm).
The investigation report states that a manager in the sourcing department had told the OIG that they questioned whether the Mutambara Foundation were authors of the submitted reports under the contract, after which the OIG ran both the interim and final report through plagiarism detection software.
“The software showed that 56% of the text in the interim report and 43% of the text in the final report had been plagiarised from sources publically available on the internet. In addition, the OIG checked both the interim report and the final report against sources publically available on the internet and the information that was provided by the sourcing department to the Director of the Mutambara Foundation as background for this project,” reads the investigations report.
“This additional manual check confirmed the findings of the plagiarism software. The same finding also applied to the Participant Slides and the Deployment Algorithm. The text, charts and images in 46 of the 80 substantive slides in the participant slides and 22 of the 75 slides in the Deployment Algorithm were copied directly from other sources without credit . . . The vast majority of the plagiarised material was taken wholesale from a 2013 copyright-protected book that covers issues related to the global problem of substandard and falsified medicines.
The book is available for free download on the internet.”
The Global Fund further says that although given the opportunity to respond, the Mutambara Foundation refused to cooperate with the OIG investigation. The Mutambara Foundation also did not respond to the OIG’s finding that the work product submitted under Contract 1 was plagiarised.
The investigation report also states that in June 2015, approximately six months after the completion of Contract 1, the sourcing department awarded Contract 2 without a competitive process to the director of the Mutambara Foundation personally rather than to the Mutambara Foundation.
The objective of the consultancy Contract 2 was to provide support services to the Global Steering Committee for Quality Assurance of Health Products, says the report.
Mutambara is said to have received a pre-payment of US$11 500 and a travel advance of US$40 000 for Contract 2. An additional US$50 000 was paid after the interim report in August 2014. The final installment of US$53 500 was paid after submission of the final report and the deployment algorithm in December 2014.
“The OIG also ran this report through plagiarism detection software and found that 25% of the report was copied from sources publically available on the internet. In addition, the OIG manually checked the final project report against sources available on the internet, which confirmed the findings of the plagiarism software,” reads the report.
The investigation noted that high consultancy rates were paid for the plagiarised work, meaning the Global Fund did not get value for money. – Zimbabwe Independent
Chamisa nothing more than a conman | Opinion
By Charles Motsi| The simplified definition of a conman is a man who cheats or tricks someone by gaining their trust and persuading them to believe something that is not true.
This is the best description anyone can ever give when talking about MDC-T presidential hopeful, Nelson Chamisa, at this point and time of his political career.
Since the death of Morgan Tsvangirai, Chamisa has been on an offensive of cheap trickery trying to mesmerise the Zimbabwean electorate and to some extent he has been successful. However, when it comes to elections and deciding the destiny of the nation one has to be stingy and critical of whom he will give his vote to. A quick review of Chamisa’s promises and guarantees will expose and reveals that there is really nothing for people to get excited about.
They are simply being taken for a ride by a conman who will leave them distraught, disillusioned and worse off than before. Let us explore some of the traits of a conman and see if Chamisa fits the bill.
Conmen are fun, charming, entertaining and super polite when meeting people. Chamisa has managed to win the hearts and minds of people because of his oratory skills. From his days as a student activist, he has always been able to raise great crowds and make them go into frenzy when he speaks. He is a true entertainer, no doubt about that. That is why he chants out such ludicrous statements as, “when we met Trump, he asked us how much we needed to develop the country and we said 15 billion and he said don’t worry if you win the elections it will be yours.”
The 15 billion rant made people go wild with excitement at the Mutare rally. However, it proved costly at the end as he was forced to make an embarrassing apology to the USA Ambassador for implicating the USA in a false statement. This should show people that even though conman say all the right things at the right time and get people excited, there isn’t any real substance in their utterances and they should not be taken seriously rather people should not entertain them.
All conmen have delusions of grandeur even though they might live in the slams or dilapidated houses. When applied to the new MDC Alliance front-man, this statement tends to fit like a glove. Chamisa has been running around the country promising people spaghetti roads, airports in every village and bullet trains while his own Headquarters, the Morgan Tsvangirai Building, is in ruins. How is he going to get funding to build all that he is promising in the future when he cannot even replace broken window panes on his own office? People should not be fooled to believe the same delusions that Chamisa is suffering from, they are being conned.
Conmen will take every opportunity they get to loudly and publicly smear their opponents or adversaries when they feel threatened by them. Chamisa has been trying to tarnish President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s image at rallies by making cheap jokes, like when he took a swipe at the President’s iconic scarf by saying he got it from a traditional healer (n’anga). The need to verbally abuse his opponent stems from some deep seated insecurities that the conman Chamisa has and fear of losing to his opponent.
When caught in a lie or any other compromising position, a conman always think of themselves as victims, they can cry fake tears at the drop of a hat. Chamisa has been accusing Zanu PF of disadvantaging his MDC and not providing a fair and conducive environment claiming that his party is being unfairly treated. By playing the victim, Chamisa is laying grounds for a sympathetic plea when he finally loses after the 2018 elections. The electorate should not be fooled by this canning act.
While Chamisa’s conman tendencies are so clear for all to see, one cannot help but admire his opposite number in the form of President Mnangagwa. The president is a man of few words and his skills as an orator are limited to the important stuff only. Rather than talk people’s ears off, the president is a man of action as has been exhibited by how he has delayed his own campaign locally and go on a diplomatic offensive in the region and beyond to make sure the country has long lasting relations as compared to cheap politicking at rallies.

ZRP Charamba Denies Saying People Are Crying For Roadblocks
By Dorrothy Moyo|The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Charity Charamba has denied that she last week stated that people are crying out for the return of police roadblocks.
In a statement, Mrs Charamba said the media want to tarnish the image of the police.
She denied saying that a country cannot operate without roadblocks at a media workshop in Gweru.
In her latest statement, Charamba said, “the ZRP would like to dismiss such reports that are circulating on some sections of the media alleging that people are crying out for roadblocks to return.
“That statement was never issued by the ZRP and even the ZRP spokesperson never said that. That mischievous person (journalist) wants to tarnish the image of the ZRP by spreading falsehoods.”

Ngarivhume Gives Chamisa 7 Days Ultimatum
By Paul Nyathi| Transform Zimbabwe President Jacob Ngarivhume has given MDC Alliance coalition leader Nelson Chamisa seven days to attend to his party’s grievances on the MDC Alliance.
Speaking in a interview on Wednesday, Ngarivhume said that his party members expressed concerns on the allocation of parliamentary seats in the Alliance agreement.
According to Ngarivhume his party members were also concerned that the MDC-T which is the senior partner in the agreement, is also busy building candidates in constituencies that have been allocated to the other coalition partners.
“We are concerned that the MDC-T is seen busy on the ground placing shadow candidates against the Alliance candidates,” said Ngarivhume.
“The party is also concerned that it was not allocated even a single seat in the Matabeleland region though we have strong membership in that region,” he added.
Responding to the cries by their coalition partner, MDC Spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi said that as far as they know Transform Zimbabwe has not presented any complaints to the MDC Alliance leadership.
Speaking on behalf of his principal Professor Welshman Ncube who is also the Alliance spokesperson, Chihwayi said that the complaints by Transform Zimbabwe might not be substantial as the parties to the coalition agreed and finalised issues around the allocation of the seats.
“It is not possible that the MDC-T will contest against the MDC Alliance coalition candidates in the coming elections as alleged by TZ,” said Chihwayi.
“The principals to the coalition all set and agreed on the allocation of seats and they all signed, it is therefore unfair for TZ to start complaining on the allocation of the seats at this stage,” Chihwayi added.
Chihwayi’s sentiments were also raised by the MDC-T Acting Spokesperson Thabitha Khumalo who said that it was not possible for the MDC-T to be mobilising against the coalition agreement.
Ngarivhume insisted that his party has made the issues known to the coalition and is giving Chamisa seven days to sort out the matter.
“We are hoping that the Alliance will consider our concerns within the next week to a week and a half at most after which we will report back to our members fir them to decide on our future involvement in the Alliance,” said Ngarivhume.
Ngarivhume however insisted that his party is willing to continue in the MDC Alliance coalition.
Grace Mugabe Police Investigation Full Swing
VOA – Zimbabwe’s National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority says they have given the police relevant documents linking former First Lady Grace Mugabe to the poaching of protected animals in the country.
Parks spokesperson, Tinashe Farawo, told VOA Studio 7 that the police would use the documents to investigate allegations that Mrs. Mugabe intended to ship wildlife material to the Middle East, America and China.
“We have provided the police with information with some of the documents which the office of the president then was requesting for the shipment of alleged gifts to countries like China and the United Arab Emirates and also the United States of America … I think the matter is under investigation.”
Asked how the so-called gifts were linked to Mrs. Mugabe, Farawo said efforts were once made for the former first lady to discuss the shipment with top officials of the Parks Department, which blocked it.
“… One particular Sunday, I’m sure it was on the 29th of October last year when a request was made from the office of the president to ensure that those things are shipped out of the country but when the director general refused to sign (shipment papers), he was asked by one of the directors, I’m not sure of the name … The director asked the director general that ‘do you want the first lady to phone you directly so that you can process that shipment.
“… It was after the director general had expressed reservations on what was happening because he wanted to verify the products and the papers which he was supposed to sign.”
Farawo dismissed suggestions that the Parks Department is being used as a political tool to fight against former president Robert Mugabe and his wife.
He said the Parks Department’s mandate is to protect wildlife, including lions and elephants, for the benefit of future generations.
“We have nothing to do with politics. Our job and mandate is to ensure that we sustainably utilize our wildlife. Our mandate is to make sure that generations to come can benefit from these animals.”
He said the poaching of elephants has gone down following the removal of Mr. Mugabe from the office of president by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in a military intervention, which the former president calls a coup.
“I want to emphasize the fact that if you look at poaching statistics since the coming in of the new leadership when His Excellency President Mnangagwa took over the presidential office in November, poaching statistics have drastically gone down … It is making our work easier and now we can sustainably utilize our wildlife.”
Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said investigations on the poaching allegations are in progress.
“Investigations are in their infancy … We have received a report (from parks authority) and we have initiated investigations. It’s a long process and might take a long time.”
Some critics say Mrs. Mugabe, who together with her husband are linked to the National Patriotic Front, is being allegedly victimized by Mnangagwa’s government for supporting the opposition ahead of the forthcoming crucial general elections.
National Patriotic Front leader Retired Brigadier Ambrose Mutinhiri said, “These allegations have just risen soon after the coup and I think it’s political. It those things were happening why were they not brought up at the time (when Mugabe was in power).”
Last December, Zimbabwe’s parks agency seized 200 kilograms (440 pounds) of ivory worth $500,000 destined for Malaysia and no one was arrested over the shipment.
Poaching is rife in Zimbabwe’s national parks, which teem with elephants and other big game.
The agency says close to 900 elephants have been poached since 2013. The southern African country is estimated to have more than 84,000 elephants.

Khupe Slapped With Lawsuit Anytime
By Dorrothy Moyo| The renegade expelled MDC Deputy President Thokozani Khupe has received a firm warning she will be sued for continuing to use the name MDC-T.
The warning was given by party spokesman Felix Sibanda who said, “no one shall be allowed to abuse our brand and name; very soon she shall be called to order to stop that chicanery (sic).”
Sibanda continued saying, “She has to be reminded that MDC-T has a functional constitution which makes it clear that the national council (NC) is a de facto congress between the congresses.
“We get our mandate from section 18 (of the party constitution) that states that the NC is the highest organ in between the congress and its resolutions bind to the core of the party. To our knowledge, Khupe and her cabal have no legitimate NC to draw those mandates from.”
Khupe’s spokesperson, Witness Dube, rubbished the treat declaring that, “Khupe is the constitutionally mandated acting president of MDC-T, pending the extraordinary congress this April.”
Chiwenga’s Father-In-Law Gets ZIFA Top Job | BREAKING NEWS
By Paul Nyathi| The Zimbabwe Football Association led by Philip Chiyangwa has with immediate effect appointed perennially struggling football adminstration Kenny Mubaiwa into the national football body’s executive committee.
The announcement was made by the ZIFA Communications Manager Xolisani Gwesela in a media statement late Wednesday evening.
Mubaiwa was co-opted into the committee together with Rosemary Kanonge with no explanations given by the football mother body.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) would like to inform the football fraternity that In accordance with article 32.1 of the ZIFA constitution, the emergency committee of ZIFA has co-opted Mr Keni Mubaiwa ( PSL Emergency Committee Chairperson)and Mrs Rosemary Kanonge (Women Soccer League Chairperson) to the Zifa Executive Committee with immediate effect,” said the statement.
Mubaiwa is the father of Mary Mubaiwa the 35 year old wife to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
Chiwenga married Mary in a hush in 2011 paying Mubaiwa US$47 000 cash as bride price to snatch the ex model from former husband and footballer Shingi Kawondera who had also paid but a”very low” bride price for the beauty.
Mubaiwa has been willy nilly in and out of the chairmanship of the country’s biggest football club Dynamos where he has on several times been caught on the wrong side by the assumed 7 million Dynamos fans.
Football fans and commentators on social media have generally not accepted Mubaiwa’s appointment into the committee claiming that it is not on merit but was influenced by his relationship with the country’s most feared man at the moment.
Khuphe And Chamisa Clash In Bulawayo
By Paul Nyathi| Rival MDC-T leaders Nelson Chamisa and Thokozani Khuphe will next weekend test each other’s strength in the politically volatile City of Bulawayo.
The two leaders of the split party will hold high profile public gatherings within 10 kilometres of each other on the 7th of April as they both seek to claim dominance in the city.
While Chamisa will be having a probably full house rally at White City Stadium in the heart of the City’s high density suburb, Khuphe will be holding her own MDC-T special congress at the heart of Bulawayo’s political home Stanley Square in Makokoba Bulawayo’s oldest location.
The two gatherings, as ZimEye.com reveals, are set to finally declare the who is who of the two MDC-T factions in the city and the Matabeleland region.

Sources close to Khuphe indicate that she has managed to bring on her side a higher majority of the MDC-T leadership in the Bulawayo and Matabeleland North Provinces while Chamisa has retained Matabeleland South in the fight for Matabeleland region dominance.
Police in Bulawayo confirmed that the two political rivals have been cleared to hold their events within the short distance between the venues. This is despite a known very violent rivalry between supporters of the two factions.
Efforts to get a comment from spokespersons of the two factions in the city were not successful at the time of writing.
Khuphe declared herself the genuine leader of the MDC-T following the death of founding President Morgan Tsvangirai while Chamisa was endorsed by the party’s National Council.
ZimEye.com is following the events as they unfold.

Khupe Rubbishes Pastors On Chamisa
By Farai D Hove| The renegade former MDC Deputy President, Thokozani Khupe has caused whispers in Bulawayo following her rejecting of high profile pastors and elderly men and women concerning her rebellion against party leader Nelson Chamisa.
Khupe was the talk of the city between Monday and Tuesday with locals here remarking on how she has further strayed away from the MC-T party.
“She has started her own MDC but so far it exists in the a few people in Bulawayo, God knows who her members are outside the city of Kings, ” analyst Felix Banda said.
He added saying, “had she listened to those pastors who worked tirelessly to restore her in the party she would have been treated just like Mwonzora.
Last Friday it was revealed party leader Nelson Chamisa went the extra mile to engage Khupe the best way he could so to avoid a humiliating end for Khupe. This included travelling all the way to Bulawayo and spending over 5 hours in the same room with her. Sources in Khupe’s camp have corroborated on the below expose to ZimEye.
Chamisa also engaged pastors and high level Bishops to talk to Khupe.
Th party’s deputy chairman Morgan Komichi told ZimEye.com: “even after being instructed by the previous National Council to expel Hon Thokozani Khupe, he (Chamisa) did not; instead he asked the NC to give him more time so that he could engage with HON VP Khupe.
He went further to explain to ZimEye how, “after being given that authority by the NC President Chamisa went to set up a commission, a team of pastors, renowned personalities, Bishops to go to Bulawayo and engage madam Khupe in order to convince her to come back. Several meeting were set in between in which on the 17th March, President Chamisa travelled to Bulawayo and met with HON Khupe for more than 5 hours with mediators but nothing came out.
“Last weekend on Saturday, President Chamisa travelled to Gweru and waited for madam Thokozani Khupe to come from Bulawayo to come and meet President Chamisa. he waited for her up to 11pm, she was always saying she is in a meeting, she is going to come; but eventually she did not come. he came to Harare during this last week when parliament was on and made an appointment to meet her, again she did not come to the negotiating forum. However other leaders came who are in the parliament, MPs from Mat North and Bulawayo came, and also other leaders from the provincial executive of Mat North came and held a meeting with president Chamisa and confirmed their support and really assured President Chamisa that they were going to work with him.
“These are the people that really matter, because these are the people on the ground, even today in the National Council they attended. The entire delegation from Mat North province was in attendance. The entire delegation from Bulawayo was in attendance. The entire delegation from Mat South was in attendance in support of President Chamisa’s leadership. So whilst yes of course we were going to gain more if madam Thokozani’s had come back to the party, but what I am trying to say is that the impact will be very insignificant because the people that really matter are the people on the ground, in the districts, province, wards are in support of President Chamisa. That’s our position.”
Meanwhile, concerning Khipe’s meeting last Sunday, the Bulawayo province’s spokesman Felix Sibanda told ZimEye.com, “the MDC T Bulawayo province has been vindicated that Khupe had a rented crowd composed of apostles, civic society organizations, and dubious or bogus political parties . These bogus political parties had tribal solidarity which is counteroffensive, counterproductive and retrogressive to say the least Instead of uniting with other like minded political parties Khupe has chosen to work with reactionaries. The irony is that Khupe is anti MDC Alliance but choice to work with ZANU PF and dubious and tribal groupings.
“We as MDC T are calling our members to be steadfast and be peaceful and continue with registration as voters and adhere to the party constitution and all party resolutions.”
People Who Worship Chamisa, Chiwenga Or Mnangagwa Must Be Jailed For 20 Years | DO YOU AGREE?
– Human worship kills creativity
– Zimbabwe has another 55 years to realise that Mugabe was never removed, it was only Jonathan Moyo who was pushed into exile…
By Ndaba Nhuku| These are the criminals guilty of stopping the rains above and also blocking investors below; they are like locusts and they continue to infect our citizens until they look like whisky zombies. Anyone remember those days when ZANU pf members used to say that Mugabe is god ?
For citizens to release their creativity, they need to rid themselves of madness and mediocrity. They must stop treating mortal human beings like angels.
These people must be targeted by the police after the drafting of a new law which is against human worship. Do you agree?
Chamisa Character Cleansing Critical for Zimbabwe.
When I ‘re-watch Robert Mugabe’s video in 1963, I struggle to see a difference between him and Nelson Chamisa: Mugabe was a perfect G40, young, eloquent and perfect Chamisa.
Mark my words, Chamisa will be worse than Mugabe. People underestimate the power of brand spirits. Brand Spirits live for a thousand years. Cecil Rhodes was a brand spirit that will continue to manifest until the nation get serious about character cleansing. Remember Zambia’s trade union leader, Pastor Fred Chiluba and how he became worse than Kenneth Kaunda?
At present Zimbabwe has another 55 years to realise that Mugabe was never removed in character, it was only Jonathan Moyo who was pushed into exile… and even after his burial, Mugabe didn’t die at all. Grace spoke the truth, people will vote for her husband after his burial. They will vote for Cecil John Rhodes and Mugabe for another thousand years .
“Mnangagwa Will Defeat Chamisa” – Chadzamira
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| Zanu PF Provincial Chairperson, Ezra Chadzamira has launched a whirlwind campaign programme to drum up support for the ruling party ahead of the 2018 elections.
Chadzamira told Zanu PF members in Masvingo at the weekend the ruling party was ready to defeat Nelson Chamisa – to annihilate the opposition in the coming elections.
Chadzamira who has a knack for pulling surprise victories, has vowed to lead the ruling party to victory.
In 2013, Chadzamira, dubbed an underdog in Masvingo West Constituency, stunned MDC’ s Takanayi Mureyi in the House of Assembly plebiscite.
“We will go down to the cells to launch our whirlwind campaign programme.
We are not afraid of the coming elections. In actual fact we will trounce the opposition (MDC Alliance),” said Chadzamira.

“It’s Mama You Idiot, We’re Sick And Tired With Your Obsession With … “
NEW DISPENSATION “MIRACLE”: Zuva Victims Suddenly Get Massive Compensation
By Terrence Mawawa | In what could be a pure New Dispensation Miracle, victims of the Zuva Petrolleium verdict have won a sudden windfall – they will now be paid (collective) millions of dollars in compensation for the same dismissal previously passed as lawful during the Robert Mugabe years.
This was revealed yesterday when Chief Justice Luke Malaba ruled that workers whose contracts were arbitrarily terminated on notice and empowered by the July 2015 judgement will now be paid damages for loss of employment.
Justice Malaba announced saying this is in terms of Section 12C of the Labour Act.
His verdict was passed by broad panel of eight other judges of the Constitutional Court.
Amendments to the Labour Act which compel employers to pay damages to fired workers by taking into account the number of years served apply in retrospect. The Constitutional Court issued the judgement in a case in where Greatermans Stores and Meikles were challenging the constitutionality of the retrospective application of the law. The two companies argued that since workers were fired before the amendment of the Labour Act, as employers they should not be bound by a law that came into effect well after the workers were fired. However, the Constitutional Court ruled that the retrospective application of the law was legal.
Chief Justice Malaba said retrospective application of the law was meant to achieve fairness and justice, considering that the workers who had served for years were now poor after being sent packing empty-handed.
“The court holds, on the main ground on which the constitutionality of the transitional provision is challenged, that there is no constitutional provision which prohibits the use by the legislature of the method of retrospectivity to implement civil legislation.
“On the alternative ground of the challenge to the constitutionality of the transitional provision, the court holds that the applicants failed to prove the alleged infringement of any of the fundamental rights they relied upon.
“The retrospective imposition of new financial obligations on the applicants to pay compensation to the employees whose employment they terminated on notice for loss of employment, respects their rights enshrined in Section 56(1), 65(1) and 71(3) of the Constitution,” reads part of the judgment.
Section 12(4) of the amended law allows termination of employment in cases where the employee and the employer mutually agree in writing.
The same law allows termination of contracts for those employed on fixed terms.
In terms of that law, the employer may terminate employment in terms of the employment code (disciplinary proceedings) or pursuant to the retrenchment route as stipulated under Section 12C of the Labour Act.
The same piece of legislation states that in cases where one is not employed for a fixed-term period and is not in agreement with the employer, the retrenchment route must be followed.
The amended law, in terms of a transitional provision gazetted by Government after the 2015 terminations, should apply in retrospect to cover all people fired prior to the amendment.
Chief Justice Malaba said retrospective application of the law was meant to achieve fairness and justice, considering that the workers who had served for years were now wallowing in poverty after being sent packing empty-handed.
“All that the legislation did was to impose a restrospective obligation to conduct that was past, justifiably so, to achieve fairness and justice.
“Acting in accordance with the fundamental principles of fairness and justice, the employers would have realised that long-serving employees deserved more than three months’ notice pay.
“Long-serving employees would have become what they were in society because of their work.
“The legitimate legislative purpose of protecting employees, whose contracts were terminated on notice from the harm of loss of employment for no fault of their own, ensured that the public interest in the fundamental values of fairness and justice which underlay the employment relationships ought to have been taken into account by employers in terminating employment on notice,” ruled Chief Justice Malaba.
The court found that most employers who fired workers on notice pursuant to the Zuva judgment only used the opportunity to offload workers cheaply.
The amendment was effected to control employers who were firing workers at will without the need for fair compensation.
“A system that allows an employer to just wake up one bad day and decide, for undisclosed reasons, to terminate a contract of employment by giving notice of intention to do so without any regard to the need to compensate the employee for loss of employment, is fundamentally unfair,” reads the judgement.
ZimSec Bosses See Fire Over Boobed Results
ZimSec bosses are under fire from parents who are demanding release of their children’s O-Level exam results.
The parents who number 47 and are from Mutare Boys High complained about the results which were withheld by Zimsec. The explanation given back then was that there was highly plausible cheating when they were sat for.
It is believed that the representatives of the affected parents have continued engaging the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to push for their cause.
In essence, they feel that given the precedence that was set by the High Court earlier this year when it nullified results for English Paper 2 only, Zimsec should only withhold results for the subject in contention — History Paper 2 — so that their children wouldn’t be grossly prejudiced.
However, Zimsec, which claims that the law makes it mandatory to withhold all the examination results, insists that its position will not change.
“We want our children to get their results the same way others got theirs. The information that we got was that more children accessed the paper. The school head, however, suspiciously came up with this list of 47 students.
“Be that as it may, we feel that they should only withhold results for the affected subject. If they do not release the results for the other subjects, are they saying all the papers leaked as well? This is very unfair. What will our children do? It means they will have to sit again for all the exams, which will come at an extra cost to us,” said one of the parents’ representatives, who elected to remain anonymous for fear of victimisation.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Professor Paul Mavima, however, indicated that the parents had not yet engaged his ministry on the matter.
“As far as I am concerned, no parent has engaged my ministry. Issues that govern examination regulations fall under the purview of Zimsec,” he said.
But the parents have audio recordings of some of the meetings they had with Government officials, who promised to look into the matter.
Zimsec public relations manager Ms Nicky Dhlamini said in the case of the 47 students from Mutare Boys ‘High, Zimsec regulations and Act prescribe “the withholding of all examination results for the candidates implicated”.
“There are, indeed, examination results for 47 students from Mutare Boys’ High, which were withheld. This was a case of premature access to the examination question paper; that is to say, they had full sight of the examination paper before the date of the examination,” said Ms Dhlamini.
“The Zimsec Regulations and Act clearly states the different penalties and verdicts for the various malpractice cases. In this case, the penalty is the withholding of all examination results for the candidates implicated.
“Zimsec does not under any circumstances act upon hearsay. We have a team, which does thorough investigations and makes reports after which verdicts are made. In this case, evidence was produced
and this is how the verdict was made.”
Zimsec’s credibility has been taking a hit owing to widespread leakages and cheating.

Mnangagwa Govt Gets Tough On Command Defaulters
Government has warned farmers who have not repaid their debts under the Command Agriculture programme that they will not be considered for future allocations.
Acting director in the office of the Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Mr Douglas Chiwiro said Government was working with Agritex officers to compile the list of defaulting farmers.
He was addressing farmers attending a cotton field day in Sanyati last week, saying all defaulting farmers would not benefit from the programme. Mr Chiwiro said farmers needed to consider Command Agriculture as a loan. He also urged tobacco farmers to join the scheme.
“Vice President General Constatino Chiwenga (Retired) last week said Government had roped in tobacco under Command Agriculture,” said Mr Chiwiro. “We urge all tobacco farmers to register so as to benefit from the programme.
“Government is, however, working closely with extension officers to ensure that farmers, who failed to repay their loans under Command Agriculture, will not access inputs.”
Government, he said, had promulgated a law to deal with defaulters.
“Command Agriculture is a loan and it must be repaid so that next time you benefit again,” he said. “Paying back will also enable even new beneficiaries to have access to Government’s programmes.
“There are new programmes being offered by Government to enable farmers to access loans, but make sure you repay.”
Mr Chiwiro said Government was also deeply worried about farmers, who were selling Government inputs, especially from the Presidential Input Support Scheme and Command Agriculture programme, on the black market.
“We are deeply worried with people selling those inputs. It is a serious offence and some are already in jail over the matter,” he said. “Let us desist from that bad culture of sabotaging Government, which is striving by all means to support us as farmers.”
Mr Chiwiro said farmers also have an option to participate in Command Fisheries.
“l know in Sanyati some may say there are few dams here, but we will liaise with the responsible authorities to resolve the issue,” he said.
“There is also Command Livestock programme were extension officers would be of much assistance to farmers in explaining the programme.”
Mr Chiwiro urged farmers to be productive so as to contribute to Zimbabwe’s economic development agenda.
“Our rainfall patterns are now unpredictable and are changing almost every season. It’s high time farmers plant a variety of crops, including drought-resistant ones in case of disasters,” he said. – state media

Erstwhile Former Opposition Deputy President Linked To Mugabe’s NPF

By Paul Nyathi
Former splinter People’s Democratic Party Deputy President who resigned from the party a fortnight ago has been linked to the Robert Mugabe steered opposition National Patriotic Front.
Sikhumbuzo Ndiweni who quit the Luciah Matibenga PDP claiming that he was not being regarded in his position, is reported by sources as recruiting for the new party in Bulawayo.
Though Ndiweni denied the rumour, the sources provided ZimEye.com with evidence of social media, WhatsApp, message with indications of him selling the NPF ideology to some of them.
Speaking to ZimEye.com, Ndiweni said that he had not given a thought joining the new party though it could be a possibility.
“In politics there are no permanent enemies only permanent goals and objectives,” he said.
“I haven’t given that a thought since my forces drastically moved to Businesses, including Farming in Nkayi.”
Ndiweni said that though he is resorting to farming he has not quit mainstream politics as he intends to contest the upcoming elections as an independent.
“Am contemplating standing in Entumbane Makhandeni constituency if I come back into politics, though Nkayi People have been asking me to stand in their constituency,” he said.
Asked why he quit the Matibenga led party, Ndiweni said that the party added no value to his political life.
“I wanted to help grow PDP in rural Areas.
Unfortunately things didn’t work out and am not given to complaining daily,” he said.
“I knew its was going to be impossible to work in PDP and PRC. I don’t agree with how things are done there.”
“There is no respect for protocol, poor communication, no clear road map, no visibility of PRC campaign on the ground in urban areas whatsoever and even worse in the rural areas,” said Ndiweni.

Minister Threatens Council Officials Over Irrigation Project
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
Deputy Agriculture Minister, Davis Marapira, has threatened Masvingo City Council officials over an irrigation project he is running without approval from the local authority.
Marapira’ s irrigation project is also interfering with the local authority’ s water reticulation system.
Council officials told ZimEye.com yesterday efforts to rectify the matter hit a brick wall because of Marapira’ s refusal to cooperate with the local authority.
“Our efforts to resolve the matter have not materialised.
At one point Marapira accused us of plotting to sabotage the indigenisation and empowerment programme,” said a senior council official.
Marapira was not immediately available for a comment on the matter.
Jonso Exposes Mnangagwa Fear Of Diaspora Vote
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has an apparent fear against the Zimbabwe Diaspora former minister Jonathan Moyo has exposed.
Moyo took to twitter to explain that Mnangagwa from his days as security minister has had no love for his country men out in the Diaspora, ” This is the position Emmerson has held for 38 years first as security, and later justice, minister. That he still holds the same 38 year old position postCoup is proof there’s NO NEW DISPENSATION! has shut the door on Zimbabweans based in the Diaspora, saying they will not be able to vote in this year’s elections because government does not have resources to set up polling stations in their host countries”
His remarks comes before the Constitutional Court makes a ruling on the Diaspora vote.
MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora yesterday said Mnangagwa was offside, as his statements were unfair and nothing but an attempt to suppress the voice of the Diaspora.
“That is unfair, resources have to be availed to ensure Zimbabweans outside the country to vote. They are allowed by the Constitution to vote, fortunately a case has been argued in the courts on the Diaspora vote and we are waiting for a response,” he said.
Mwonzora said Mnangagwa had made a legal blunder commenting on a matter before the courts as Head of State.
“His statements have an effect of influencing the judgment and it also says even if the courts rule that they should vote his government has taken a stance,” he said.
Electoral watchdog Zimbabwe Elections Support Network (Zesn) said the government should act and show political will instead of crying rivers.
“It is imperative that the government avails adequate resources to Zec (Zimbabwe Electoral Commission) in order for it to effectively discharge its constitutional mandate of running elections in Zimbabwe.
“Political will must also be demonstrated in establishing mechanisms to extend the right to vote to segments of Zimbabwean citizens in the Diaspora, those in prisoners and hospitals to ensure inclusion of all eligible citizens in electoral processes. Other countries such as Kenya, Mozambique and South Africa have made great strides in ensuring that those living in the Diaspora are given an opportunity to participate in electoral processes,” Zesn said.
The Elections Resources Centre said: “The credibility of the 2018 will be partially based on issues of enfranchisement. Dismissing the issue of the Diaspora vote, which already exists by the way, through postal voting by officials on government business outside the, flies in the face of assertions of full support for credible, free and fair elections.
“How can our elections be fair if there is segregation in allocating the right to vote. That not withstanding, it is exaggerated that their diaspora vote costs too much money. There are versions of diaspora like the currently existing one which is voting by post which does not require extensive resources.”
Girlchild Empowerment Network Intensifies Efforts To Fight Sexual Abuse
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
The Girl Child Empowerment Network has intensified efforts to combat sexual harassment in the wake of the proliferation of rape cases, the director of the organisation Tatenda Maposa has said.
Below is a report on the organisation’ s recent programme:
A REPORT ON THE NDARAMA HIGH SCHOOL EVENT BY GZU STUDENTS:
The passion for lifting the banner of the girlchild saw the Masvingo chapter holding a workshop with pupils at Ndarama High School in Masvingo last week.
The campaign was aimed at presenting some lectures on the issues affecting the girlchild in high schools:
1. Gender discrimination
2. Girl child abuse
3. Rampant rape cases
4. Equal education opportunities
5. Love affairs and the generational gap
These were some of the topics presented and were received with utmost zeal by the pupils.
More than 200 participants attended the workshop and it was so interactive with presenters and participants contributing significantly.
Touching stories were narrated by the students in relation to sexual abuse at home and at school.
For the purposes of motivation, the GCE TEAM gave away sanitary pads to all outstanding participants.
The club Director, alumini students, the Girlchild Masvingo Chapter executive, and members attended the event with passion.

Zanu PF To Blame For Chaos In Central Harare
Terrence Mawawa
Voting the ruling party out of power is the only solution to the chaos that has been created by vendors in the city of Harare, a social media analyst has said.
In a hard hitting Facebook post Antony Taruvinga said the ruling party should not blame vendors for causing commotion in central Harare.
He said the ruling party, Zanu PF, was to blame for the congestion and chaos in the city of Harare.
“One wonders if Power Sales is going to sell any clothes.
The problem of too many vendors has been created by Zanu PF’s controversial policies,” wrote Taruvinga.

Mugabe Allies Pushed Into Panic Mode
Allies of former president Robert Mugabe have sent desperate distress calls to both sitting and former heads of state on the continent, on fears that the government may arrest the nonagenarian and his unhinged wife Grace over festering allegations that he engaged in myriad criminal activities while in power.
This comes as Grace is already under serious police investigation after being implicated in the smuggling of the country’s ivory stocks, with sources within the justice system also telling the Daily News yesterday that there were several other ongoing probes targeting the former first lady — who was accused of effecting a “bedroom coup” at State House in 2014.
Among Mugabe’s remaining associates who fear that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government may be planning to arrest the increasingly disorientated 94-year-old and his wife are self-exiled former Cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo — one of the alleged kingpins of Zanu PF’s vanquished Generation 40 (G40) faction — as well as the fledgling new opposition party that has the backing of the nonagenarian, the National Patriotic Front (NPF).
NPF spokesperson, Jealousy Mawarire, confirmed yesterday that they had written to regional bloc Sadc, urging it to intervene and save Mugabe from alleged “harassment”.
“The harassment of Mugabe and his wife, especially the contrived ivory smuggling allegations, are clear moves by a desperate junta to tarnish the image of the two, after Mugabe came out in the open revealing that ED (Mnangagwa) and (Vice President Constantino) Chiwenga staged a coup on November 15, 2017 — and that the current government is therefore illegitimate.
“The junta was also riled by the fact that Mugabe is prepared to support NPF if we fight for a return to constitutionalism and ensure that politics leads the gun, not the current situation where guns were used to illegally topple a democratically-elected government.
“It is common cause that Mugabe and his family were under house arrest in December 2017 when the purported ivory smuggling was done, so the soldiers that were holding the family hostage should tell us how their captives found time to involve themselves in the purported ivory trade,” Mawarire charged.
The well-placed sources who spoke to the Daily News yesterday said the current investigations into various dealings of the Mugabe family had been going on for the past three months, with authorities apparently sitting on several “hot” dockets that did not portray the former first family in good light.
But Mawarire claimed that the allegations were “purely political harassment as a result of the first family’s alleged links to our party”.
“If Zimbabwe is open for business, it should be open to political business. Hence, people — regardless of their past positions in government — should be allowed freedom of association, choice and expression.
“These rights are fundamental to the freeness and fairness of the forthcoming election, and we hope ED goes beyond his mantra of a free election and acquaints himself with the Sadc guidelines and principles governing democratic elections in the region.
“These are very clear on what constitutes a free and fair election and we believe he should leave … Mugabe and his family to freely participate in the next elections if they so wish, because it’s their constitutional right to do so … we have engaged regional powers to look into the matter of Mugabe,” Mawarire added.
In its letter sent to regional leaders, including former South African president Thabo Mbeki — infamous for claiming a decade ago that there was no political crisis in Zimbabwe — the NPF warned that if Sadc leaders choose to ignore Mugabe’s current situation, there could be serious consequences for both the country and the region.
“If you ignore this … you will ignore the Constitution of Zimbabwe, history and your responsibilities and obligations as Sadc, and the consequences will be too ghastly for everyone concerned, in Zimbabwe and in Sadc and the African Union,” reads part of the NPF letter.
The curtain fell on Mugabe last year on November 21 when he resigned moments after Parliament had started damaging proceedings to impeach him.
This followed a military intervention that was code-named Operation Restore Legacy, which saw the nonagenarian and his then influential wife being placed under house arrest.
Several Cabinet ministers linked to the G40 faction which had coalesced around Grace were also targeted in the operation, which ended just before Christmas — with the military only retreating back to their barracks after five weeks of executing the operation.
The annihilated G40 — with the visible help of Mugabe and Grace — was, before the military intervention, locked in a bitter war with Mnangagwa and his supporters for control of both Zanu PF and the country.
Moyo used micro blogging site, Twitter, at the weekend to also appeal to serving and former African leaders — including Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, Mbeki, Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania, Olesugun Obasanjo of Nigeria, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, and former United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan — to help Mugabe.
“HE P. Kagame; HE C. Ramaphosa; HE T. Mbeki; HE B. Mkapa; HE O. Obasanjo; HE Y. Museveni & HE K. Annan. Coup rulers in Zimbabwe are persecuting your brother, Mugabe. Please check on him!
“It’s impossible for Zanu PF to win Zimbabwe’s 2018 elections. Zanu PF is no more. What was Zanu PF was killed by the 15NovCoup and replaced by an unelectable Lacoste Junta. To remain in power, the Lacoste Junta will have to do another coup. Only EDiots think that would succeed, again,” Moyo raged.
Meanwhile, the former Higher Education minister, who is now living in self-imposed exile, is himself facing a slew of criminal allegations — which include corruption, fraud, money laundering and criminal abuse of office charges, as well as claims that he irregularly benefited from Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (Zimdef) donations that involved the purchase of bicycles which he donated to his former Tsholotsho North constituency.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) has said that the donations of the bicycles was not done above board.
The anti-graft body further claims that Moyo, his then deputy Godfrey Gandawa, and Zimdef chief executive Frederick Mandizvidza, were at the centre of multiple corrupt and fraudulent activities running into hundreds of thousands of dollars.
On his part, Moyo has said that he is not corrupt, since going on to work hard to discredit the current government, by repeatedly questioning the legitimacy of Mnangagwa and his new dispensation which has been warmly embraced by Sadc, the African Union and all key Western powers.
On his part, the sulking Mugabe has in recent weeks addressed the international community on his resignation as president last year, which he has said was forced on him by military commanders.
The nonagenarian has also complained bitterly to the African Union that Mnangagwa’s government is allegedly not treating him well — including through the supposed withholding of some of the eye-watering benefits he was promised upon his fall from power.
While it has not been publicly confirmed, the Daily News has it on good authority that Mugabe has been personally assured of his immunity from prosecution for all the crimes that he may have committed during his tenure in office. However, it is believed that this blanket immunity does not cover the much-disliked Grace.
The nonagenarian is said to have pressed the panic button over the fate of his wife after authorities initiated investigations on Grace’s controversial PhD degree, as well as her alleged involvement in the smuggling of ivory.
However, legal expert Alex Magaisa said Mugabe himself could still face prosecution if Mnangagwa’s government decided to pursue that route.
“Mugabe is exposed to legal action. It is presumably on this basis that the exit deal includes provision for immunity from lawsuits. The question is whether the exit deal takes precedence over the Constitution.
“Section 2(1) of the Constitution states that, ‘This Constitution is the supreme law of Zimbabwe and any law, practice, custom or conduct inconsistent with it is invalid to the extent of the inconsistency’.
“This means if, as it appears, the deal is inconsistent with the Constitution, it is invalid. If sued, the courts should give precedence to the Constitution and he would have to prove that his acts were done in good faith.
“As for members of his family, the immunity would not hold. They never had immunity during his presidency and they cannot claim immunity now,” Magaisa said.-Daily News
Olinda Is Mine, Says Tytan
Tytan has laughed off widespread reports that his wife, Olinda paid lobola for him.
“Those who know me will always tell you than I am a hard worker doing a lot of things in life. By the way, I am a creative designer and brand manager doing consultancy work both at home and the UK.
“I have been holding a number of gigs in the UK realising at least 1000 pounds per week and I was saving money for the ceremony because I knew the day (to pay lobola) was coming.
“I don’t care what people will say because munhu ndewangu, ende hazvichinji,” he told H Metro.
“My family has blessed this union and my family has always been supportive each time I want to do something in life. I paid lobola in the UK where my aunt form Bulawayo was present.
“Formalising the union is the best thing we have always wished even though it appeared as if we had known each other for a while. We have always wished for the day to come and we are happy that all is well.”
“I can’t do (reveal lobola money) that for the good of my family. As a family, we deserve our privacy, I can’t tell you the figure because it’s too personal,” he said.
“It’s no secret we both have busy schedules but we will create time for each for each other. Another way to ensure that we are always in touch are the collaborations we are going to do.
“For instance, we are collaborating on the High Teas to be held on the 13th of May in Harare. We are always doing some work together since she came into my life. Olinda is currently in Zimbabwe working on the project and we will be together after work.”
“I don’t mind those who are dissing me because it won’t help them. If it is benefiting them, I can’t stop them because haters will only give me strength to achieve my goals. I also think people are judging us according to their taste. Like I said earlier on, it won’t change anything at all,” says the singer.- state media

2018 ELECTION: “Silence Rigging Process” | OPINION
Chikuni Gaba | A fly that does not listen will follow the corpse in the grave. Time and again we keep reminding the opposition of the need for electoral reforms but surprisingly the opposition continues giving us the cold shoulder. The key to unlock the chains that are shackling the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans is in having a free, fair and credible election, and that requires the implementation of electoral reforms first — not the sweet talks we hear at rallies or the de-campaigning of each other.
When SADC crafted a raft of electoral reforms in 2008 they gave the GNU 18 months to implement them but they failed to implement even one reform. Now we have 5 or less months to go for the 2018 general election but apparently we do not see that the government’s reluctance in implementing these reforms is working in Ngwena’s advantage. He keeps on buying time, preaching what he doesn’t practice, he promises the whole world a free, fair and credible election yet we are already in the campaigning period and the opposition is being frustrated time and again. MDC Alliance had their Chinhoyi rally cancelled for dubious reasons and we also hear their intended Marondera rally was not cleared by the police. Chiefs continue to be players or substitutes in our politics with Chief Musakwa recently declaring that chiefs will never recognize an MDC led government. The newly formed NPF party leader retired Brig Mutinhiri told the visiting SADC delegates that ZANU PF had deployed 5 000 soldiers all over the country to reinforce their campaigning team thus proving to be correct Chief Charumbira and Minister Hungwe’s utterances that ZANU PF will use the army in the election. AIPA and POSA are still in force. ZEC is still militarized. Zimbabweans in the diaspora vote have been disenfranchised and Nikuv is still hovering around, so what chance is there of a free, fair and credible election?
At an MDC Alliance rally in Kwekwe, the alliance President Advocate Nelson Chamisa threatened to stop the elections if no reforms are implemented but I think with the little time left he was really referring to 2023 elections not this coming 2018 election. Its either we run into Garwe’s trap or we let him run a lonely race and the deciding time is now. Blaming SADC for letting us down during the GNU era is unfair. SADC played their part by coming up with electoral reforms which they tasked us push through and implement in 18 months but we failed. In 2013 they even warned us against participating in an election with no reforms but we turned them down and the election was rigged again. It is like we continue to play the Sekuru Gudo role in our Zim politics. At this juncture let me warn all opposition parties that we, the electorate, are now aware of night deals whilst during the day politicians call each other names of cource vana veibwa havasvinuri musi umwe.
The newly introduced biometric voting system came as a relief to our dead relatives who used to be resurrected at each election to vote for ZANU PF only and return to their graves afterwards but they can now rest in peace. The BVR system was also manipulated from the word go. UNDP had offered to assist in acquiring the BVR equipment but our already broke government which is even failing to pay striking doctors turned down the offer. A Chinese company Laxton which was in second position won the tender to supply the BVR equipment and it is still not yet clear who will provide the servers. Chiefs, Headmen, Kraal heads and ZANU PF militias are busy collecting serial numbers as a means of intimidating voters. According to ZEC, thousands of doctors and nurses on duty on election day will be unable to cast their vote. There are still weaknesses and loopholes in the system.
A father who restrains his child from attacking a snake does not mean to save the reptile but his child. On all the doors to 2018 elections are written in capitals “SILENCE. RIGGING IN PROGRESS”. The opposition parties must unite to make some quick decisions and adopt a common policy on electoral reforms or we are in for another 5 years of suffering.
Grace Mugabe’s Last Military Operation
By Staff Reporter| ZimEye.com has obtained exclusive pictures of the “Mhamha Save Us, Please Save Us!” heart-rending moment when Grace Mugabe was telephoned by Prof Jonathan Moyo to come and save him and his colleague, Saviour Kasukuwere’s families.
https://youtu.be/tSn3OOhbcTo
What happened during those moments (at exactly 2.29am) suggests that contrary to statements that she was under arrest, Grace Mugabe was still fairly powerful and capable of personally (without her husband) commandeering gun toting CIOs to perform a very dangerous operation, hours after the army had announced saying Mugabe and his family were safe but “we are targeting criminals around the President.” The CIOs, as Mugabe reveals in his recent interview, drove to Kasukuwere’s house to rescue the two families who were then driven to safety (inside) Mugabe’s Blue Roof mansion where they stayed for several weeks.
Grace performed her military-confrontation operation in her husband’s absence: Robert Mugabe (then still President) says “I was not there.”
It was risky and an open fire exchange could have transpired between the two forces as the army had made it clear that anyone who stands in their way was risking their lives.
As bullets were being fired by charging soldiers just after 2 am on the 15th November, Grace Mugabe rose to bravery to personally save professor Jonathan Moyo and his colleague Saviour Kasukuwere and the two’s families.
Mugabe says she did all this alone in her husband’s absence.
Her husband Robert spoke to journalists for the first time saying she rose up and personally commandeered her own security team to go and save the two G40 ministers after they telephoned her during the horrific drama, just as they were screaming out, “Mhamha save us, please save us!”
Prof Jonathan Moyo can be seen panicking as he paced around the corridor while wearing a pair of socks while following his children.
The ministers were then miraculously saved after the snipers had briefly retreated according to a separate previous report. Grace’s CIOs who had been told to die if need be, managed to travel to Kasukuwere’s house and rescue the two families of Moyo and Kasukuwere.
The two’s families were taken to Mugabe’s Blue Roof residence and kept there after which time the men were led out and given a CIO assisted exit. Corroborating on this, Jonathan Moyo says he was saved by “angels” who he also calls Mugabe’s men.
Despite Mugabe’s testimony, sources close in the Lacoste faction told ZimEye contrary to Mugabe’s claims of danger, Grace’s rescue operation was easy because the army allowed it to happen. “They even escorted the cars with Kasukuwere and Jonathan inside,” one source told ZimEye.
Diaspora Must Protest ED’s Decision To Deny Them The Vote
Dear Editor,
Dictator Emmerson Mnangagwa never ceases to negatively amaze. Just over a week or so ago he had the United Nations official visiting to assess the situation regarding preparedness for a free and fair election. The United Nations official said the United Nations was willing to help in Zimbabwe’s endeavor to run run a credible elections that satisfies the tenants of the constitution of Zimbabwe.
Surprisingly, without asking for help from anyone to put the logistics in place to enable Zimbabweans in the diaspora to vote, Mnangagwa has been dismissing the idea of the Diaspora vote since he came into office last year. He has been told by Zimbabweans living in many countries he has visited and managed to address the them that they want to vote, and each time he has turned them down.
Interestingly, some three Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora have appeal against their being denied the opportunity to vote with the Constitutional Court and the case has not been finalised, but Mnangagwa goes ahead to make a proclamation on a case that is before the courts, usurping the powers of the courts in the process. We all know that most judges fear the Commander-In-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and hardly make judgements that are against proclamations by the Commander-In-Chief, so we can conclude that Dictator Mnangagwa has already told the judges how to make a ruling, that is why he can speak so confidently that the Diaspora colleagues are not voting. What a dull lawyer Mnangagwa is?
Best thing for Zimbabwe is just to vote Zanu PF out of power and start a real new dispensation.
Meanwhile, if Dictator Mnangagwa has his way, those in the Diaspora who cannot go to Zimbabwe to vote should assemble at strategic positions in the domiciled countries an tell the world they have been denied the opportunity to vote by dictator Mnangagwa, who had the opportunity to seek help for the logistical requirements needed to run the Diaspora elections and never acted. After all, most of the host countries would be very keep to assist – did he ever try them
This election is already rigged, and we will speak out, and all Mnangagwa needs to do is allow the will of the people to prevail so that we have a President who can really listen to the people.
Vote out Mnangagwa 2018.

Zuma Starts To Fight Back
On Monday, the Hawks finally served Zuma with a summons to appear in the Durban High Court on April 6, his lawyer Michael Hulley confirmed to The Star on Monday night.
But Hulley was quick to point out that they were challenging National Prosecuting Authority boss Shaun Abrahams’ decision to reinstate the charges against Zuma.
“I confirm that the summons has been received and that we are preparing an application to review the NDPP’s (National Director of Public Prosecutions’) decision to prosecute (Zuma),” Hulley said, without providing any further explanation.
Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said a summons was also served yesterday on Zuma’s co-accused, French arms company Thint, “whose lawyers are in Cape Town”.
With regard to opposing the summons, Mulaudzi said all the matters would be ventilated in court.
“It is their (defence lawyers’) job On April 6, the accused will be formally charged,” he said.
The Hawks have moved swiftly since Zuma lost power to President Cyril Ramaphosa and was subsequently pushed from the Union Buildings.
At the weekend, the City Press reported that the elite crime-fighting unit was investigating allegations that Zuma had received a R1million bribe from from a Western Cape abalone dealer in exchange for not firing Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Senzeni Zokwana.
Cosatu president S’dumo Dlamini, an ally of Zuma, and Zokwana are being investigated by the Hawks for allegedly receiving R300000 in kickbacks from the same businessman.
In 2009, then acting NPA head Mokotedi Mpshe took the decision to drop the case against Zuma who was the ANC president at the time.
Mpshe’s decision was found to be unlawful and irrational by both the North Gauteng High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal.
Zuma and Thint have both been served with summonses to appear in the Durban High Court, and they will not be required to apply for bail.
Thint allegedly paid Zuma R500 000 to protect the company from any arms deal investigations.
The State believes that that money was to be used to pay for Zuma’s Nkandla renovations.
Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal church leaders, who support Zuma, said on Monday that they would be at court to pray for him during his difficult time.- IOL
“Coconut” head Moyo scuttle to cover his back
Daphine Zulu | Jonathan Moyo’s misguided efforts to draw the African Union (AU) into the perceived Zimbabwean crisis drew a volley of criticism across the political divide seeing that there was a spiral of silence in the public sphere that it was time up for uncle Bob.
Spitting on to Moyo’s face, the AU seemingly unmoved by his request to rope them in and delegitimize Mnangagwa’s administration and choose to conveniently ignore the supposed coup inquest and instead send congratulatory remarks and applause on the peaceful transition of power from Mugabe to President Mnangagwa.
Another heavy blow was aimed at his face as other African leaders even extended their business hand to the new administration, with the most recent one being the signing of the African Free Trade Area at the Kigali Convention, Rwanda.
Despite this setback, Moyo is now desperately targeting former and current African leaders to come in and help Mugabe.
According to his twitter handle, Moyo said, “HE P Kagame, HE C Rhamaposa, HE Thabo Mbeki, HE B Mkapa, HE O Obasanjo, HE Museveni, HE K Annan. Coup rulers in Zimbabwe are persecuting your brother Cde Mugabe. Please check on him.” How dramatic!
Which persecution is Moyo talking about? If there was really persecution against Mugabe, would he still be protected by the State? Or be on State pay roll receiving his pension? Or worse off enjoy freedom of expression, like how we saw him address the world from the comfort of his home being interviewed by a foreign journalist who could have easily been denied access by the State if they so wished to silence to him.
This begs the question, is it really love for Mugabe or is Moyo trying to cover his own back?
The truth is, Moyo is ruffled by the recent inquiry into the former first lady, Grace Mugabe’s shady dealings which he is aware will open a pandora’s box on his involvement seeing that Grace always had his and Kasukuwere’s back.
Apart from that, Moyo is slowly realizing that his pillar (the first family) isn’t as invincible as he had convinced himself. So, if the arm of the law has managed to stretch and reach the former untouchables, what are the likely implications for him?
Mind you, this is the very guy who abused ZIMDEF funds and claimed that the money had been channeled towards development of his constituency and was exonerated by Grace from persecution.
Clearly, the same self exiled professor is still entertaining thoughts of returning to Zimbabwe someday since he left his family and wealthy behind, and is seeking reasons to save his skin and slip back into the country.
While these nefarious activities could have been happening right under the former President’s nose, Mugabe wouldn’t be persecuted for other people’s wrong doings, though of course he might be indirectly affected if his wife is convicted, but we wouldn’t qualify that as Mugabe being persecuted.
At the same time, the law is the law, and we should not sacrifice principle over one’s prominence. If Grace Mugabe is guilty, then so must she be prosecuted, the same applies with Moyo and any other offenders.
President Mnangagwa assured the former President’s safety during their negotiations and post- transition, a peace offer he is still upholding. So what harassment is Moyo seeing from his self-imposed exile to which he is calling on AU’s intervention if it’s not him covering his own back?
ED Must Deal With US Demands Or Ship Out | OPINION
Nomusa Garikai | “The United States should make decisions on Zimbabwe from an informed position and stop reading only the text of opposition political parties that are afraid of elections, President Mnangagwa has said,” reported the Herald.
“He said the US, which last week proposed multiple prescriptive reforms as a precondition for re-engagement with Zimbabwe, should have an appreciation of the situation on the ground to make rational decisions.”
What the Americans are saying is if you, President Mnangagwa, are serious about holding free, fair and credible elections then you and your government must make sure you have a free media, you keep the Army out of the election process, etc., etc. Of course, the American are very well informed because these are the same reforms that SADC spelt at the beginning of the GNU and many Zimbabweans have been demanding for years.
The Americans certainly have a great “appreciation of the situation on the ground”. They appreciate that Zimbabwe will never get out of the economic mess and political paralysis the nearly four decades of Zanu PF corrupt and tyrannical rule have landed the nation into. Implementing the reforms to allow for the holding of free, fair and credible elections is the cure to Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown and sickness of bad governance.
No one is being fooled by President Mnangagwa’s double talk. He has been promising free and fair elections and yet has refused to implement the reforms to make this possible.
Indeed, he has paid the Chiefs their traditional bribe so they can carry out their usual task of intimidating and harassing rural voters to make sure they vote for Zanu PF. He has appointed a well-known thug, Engelbert Rugeje, Zanu PF Political Commissar, deployed the war veterans and 2 000 to 5 000 to work with the Chiefs for the same purpose, etc.
If President Mnangagwa was not afraid of holding free, fair and credible elections then why has not implemented the reforms?
The attempts by President Mnangagwa and his apologist to link the lifting of Western imposed sanctions to implementing the democratic reforms and holding free and fair elections is an insult to every thinking Zimbabwean for four reasons:
a) Zanu PF has always dismissed MDC leaders as “puppets of the West”. Zanu PF must stop cherry; why is it when it comes to imposing the sanctions the puppet is now accused of pulling the strings.
b) When it comes to demanding the democratic reforms, it is not what the opposition say that matters but what ordinary Zimbabweans have been demanding but ignored by the regime for the last 38 years. The opposition, especially the corrupt and incompetent MDC politicians do not represent the common people; not since they sold-out on implementing regime during the GNU. The only reason many Zimbabweans are not aware that MDC leaders are sell-outs is because there is no freedom of expression and a free media.
c) Implementing the democratic reforms will restore the people’s basic freedoms and human rights including the right to free and fair elections and the right to life itself.
d) The right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country is the key to ending the Zanu PF dictatorship and getting a democratic and competent government. It is intolerable that Zanu PF has resisted all demands for reforms on the foolish notion that the regime “cannot reform itself out of office” as if it has a right to deny the people their freedoms and rights. The linkage of democratic reforms to sanctions is an insult; our human freedoms and right are inalienable rights not to be bargained over like mangoes!
No, President Mnangagwa it is you and your Zanu PF Junta who must understand that Zimbabwe is your personal property to do with as you please, just as Mugabe has done these last 37 years.
All those who hold public office are and must always be democratically accountable to the public, the people. The holding of free, fair and credible elections; in which the people have their say on who hold public office and, if they should wish it, have regime change; is the ultimate expression of that democratic accountability.
Mr Mnangagwa, if you and your Junta, fail to implement the democratic reforms to guarantee free, fair and credible elections; it will be because you want to hold on to the dictatorial power of the Mugabe years and thus hang on to the Zanu PF dictatorship. We the silent majority, the voiceless povo, demand an end to dictatorial rule.
If you do not implement the reforms to end dictatorial rule, then the elections will be declared null and void and some other administration appointed to implement the reforms. Be informed, President Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe is not going to accept another rigged election and that is not negotiable!

Highlanders FC Members Drink Club Pub Down On Credit

By Paul Nyathi
Highlanders Football Club Chairman Kenneth Mhlophe has raised an outcry at senior club members who drink beer at the club house on credit and fail to pay.
In a sensational Facebook post, Mhlophe warned the defaulting members to pay up the debts or risk him naming and shaming them.
“What kind of people are these who drink beer on credit and then fail to pay for it?,” fumed Mhlophe.
“If one does not have money to buy beer, they may as well go home and sleep than come and drink on credit then fail to pay,” fumed Mhlophe.
“If you don’t pay up your debts I am going to name and shame you. This is a public venture which does not belong to individuals” wrote the former Zimbabwe Defence Forces Colonel.
Sources at the sports club who spoke to ZimEye.com in confidence said that the club is owed amounts ranging into thousands of dollars by members who include some members of the current and former executive committees.
Some are reported to be club life members while some are former members of the technical team and former players.
The sources would not be drawn to disclose the names of the accused persons.
“We have submitted the names to the chairman and his executive its up to him to decide what to do with the names,” said the source.
“We are not talking of ordinary people here, most of them are highly respectable people who we can not deny the credit facility when they need it,” added the source.
Some of the amounts involved have been outstanding for over two years and yet the people just keep on drinking. Thats why we had to raise alarm with the executive,” said the source.
On visiting the Club House, ZimEye.com managed to establish popular people such as former Highlanders Chief Executive Officer Ndumiso Gumede, former player and coach Amini Soma Phiri and other senior club members as regular patrons of the club.
Highlanders Football Club owes close to a million dollars in debts. The club was once the richest club in the country affording to acquire varied assets that include the club house, club offices and a camping house.
Efforts to get a comment from Mhlophe failed at the time of writing.
Secret Behind Mnangagwa’s Scarf
When President Emmerson Mnangagwa visited Davos, Switzerland where he reiterated the ‘‘Zimbabwe is open for business” message, there was one thing that he also introduced; his multi-coloured scarf.
After the meeting, Mnangagwa has made this scarf part of his fashion statement and a few of his followers have also been seen wearing it. The fashion police are now hot on his trail and are seemingly pissed-off by the scarf which he wears even in high temperatures, worse still when he attends engagements that do require him to wear safety clothing.
From the time he went to Davos, the president has ‘‘not taken off the scarf”, be it at party events or government engagements, the scarf is now part of his fashion regimen.
The fashion police are of the opinion that this is overkill and worse still they think the scarf is not matching his suits.
People on social media have even started comparing the president with yesteryear ZTV drama actor Paraffin – whose scarf and woollen hat was his trademark and a point of laughter.
The scarf has been used as a reference of failure by Mnangagwa’s government over his much-hyped first 100 days in office.
“The only thing that ED did in 100 days was to walk around in a scarf,” screamed one social media user.- state media
Mugabe Book Review, “Kingdom, Power And Glory”
In 2017, Daily Maverick published a series of articles based on Stuart Doran’s monumental history of ZANU-PF and Robert Mugabe, titled ‘Kingdom, Power, Glory’. In this major review of the book, former British Foreign Secretary David Owen reflects on his own intimate dealings with Mugabe during the 1970s, and his efforts to understand the man who would rule Zimbabwe for nearly four decades. Drawing on personal observation and reporting by MI6, Owen was initially attracted by Mugabe’s “high personal standards” and “apparent integrity”. But other, darker strands soon became visible.
Stuart Doran’s book Kingdom, Power, Glory: Mugabe, ZANU and the quest for supremacy 1960-1987is a book of towering importance for the African continent and I cannot recommend it too highly. Pages 646 to the end are of huge importance, and the following three paragraphs deserve quoting in full.
“One social force that has received attention, at least with regard to the period before 1980, is ‘tribe’ or ‘ethnicity’. Scholars of Zimbabwe and, more generally, of African studies, have reacted to stereotypes about ancient tribal animosities by pointing to the complexities that attend conflict and the fact that ethnicity often has little to do with situations popularly categorised as a function of tribe. The history of ZANU’s rivalry with ZAPU bears this out at many points. The leaders of the two parties were initially united under the ZAPU banner and came to blows after the split not because they were different but because they shared the same supremacist ideology. Ethnically, many Shona leaders remained with Nkomo into the 1980s, and ZIPRA also retained an important Shona membership throughout the war. On the ZANU side, ZAPU’s most vocal opponent was a Ndebele speaker, Enos Nkala.
“And yet it will not do to follow another vagary of academic fashion which, prompted by an anxiety to demolish popular colonial shibboleths, has often seen tribe and ethnicity vanish almost completely from the historical narrative. The reality is that the historical participants themselves refer too frequently to tribe and other ethnic divisions for it to be discounted as a motivating factor. It is not enough to simply elucidate the often fluid and arbitrary parameters used by participants (or former colonial authorities) to define tribe. In and of itself, this is an abstraction that can serve to simply discourage the acknowledgement of powerful ethnic forces on political events and movements. ZANU-PF’s characterisation of Ndebele speakers as ‘dissident people’ in 1982 had a political function, as did the deployment of 5 Brigade in 1983, but the intensity of the killings, the hatred that made their obscene nature and vast scale possible, and the constant references to tribe that accompanied them are poorly explained by politics alone.
The dark sides of politics and identity are, ultimately, a reflection of the human condition. Just as politics can mirror base human instincts such as the lust for power and wealth, so too can ethnic or tribal distinctions. Hatred, fear, the pleasure of vengeance and unadorned sadism are also potent and all-too-human impulses. It is unnecessary to look beyond the history of the 20th century to see that where such impulses coalesce, individuals and societies are capable of acts that were not deemed possible by those who knew them. Such a coalescence provides the most credible explanation for what occurred in Matabeleland in 1983-4. ZANU and ZAPU were not only rival political formations whose leaders had long and bitter personal histories; by the 1970s and 1980s their memberships were increasingly polarised along ethnolinguistic lines. Within the parties, political and tribal antagonisms had progressively merged and magnified each other. To be a ZAPU supporter was, increasingly and undeniably, to be a Ndebele speaker. But, in the minds of many ZANU-PF members, this also meant that to hate ZAPU was to hate the Ndebele people. This is one reason why the Gukurahundi killings could be regarded not only as ‘politicide’ but as genocide.”
I first became involved in African politics in 1968-70, when Minister for the Royal Navy and responsible for the Beira patrol, which had been established after UN Resolution 221 in 1966 to check on oil tankers heading for the Mozambique port. Beira acted as the terminus of a pipeline going into what was then Southern Rhodesia. Bulgaria, Mali, Uruguay and the Soviet Union abstained because of the inadequacy of the measures. France also abstained because she did not believe that there was a threat to international peace which the Resolution endorsed.
The Beira Patrol was the closest the UK ever came to having to take on Ian Smith militarily following his unilateral declaration of independence on 11 November 1965. Many criticise the then-Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, for not using force when independence was declared, but he had only been elected with a narrow majority in 1964, and he and Denis Healey felt that to use force would divide the British people. To have landed troops would have necessitated first destroying the Rhodesian air force, and this had been ruled out as it meant extensive bombing of airfields close to civilian housing.
On 1 April 1966, Joanna V was sighted by a Shackleton aircraft flying from Majunga (Madagascar) and intercepted by HMS Plymouth on 4 April but allowed to proceed and actually berthed at Beira in Mozambique on 10 April. On that same day the tanker Manuela was intercepted by HMS Bowick and boarded until the tanker had steamed well south of Beira.
The Portuguese government were refusing to participate in sanctions and refusing to interfere in the transport of any merchandise into Rhodesia. Joanna V was struck off the Greek register, given provisional Panamanian registration and told it would be cancelled if she discharged oil.
On 15 April the Portuguese flew in paratroopers from the port of Lourenco Marques to protect the Beira pipeline, and tension mounted as the world watched to see what the Portuguese would do next. On 16 April Ian Smith announced that, though the oil on the Joanna V was meant for his country, he had decided to forego it in order not to involve other countries in his dispute with the United Kingdom.
Instead the UK decided to rely on sanctions applied to Rhodesia’s major exports and to key imports, particularly oil. It had been a huge shock to those in Africa, which included President Kuanda, who believed that British oil companies, BP and Shell, were not using their oil to supply Rhodesia. In 1977 I was faced by documentary evidence that in 1967 a controversial swap arrangement made with Total ensured that Rhodesia was supplied with oil directly and Total were then compensated by Shell and BP in South Africa. This arrangement operated until 1971.
The fact that this swap arrangement had been revealed in full by the oil companies to the British government in 1968, and the British government had taken no steps at the time to consider prosecution for the breaches in the law, was confirmed by the enquiry which I established under Thomas Bingham QC. His deeply embarrassing report published in 1978 revealed to the wider world the ambivalence of British policy towards Rhodesia and reluctance to use the full weight of sanctions against South Africa. Of course, their reluctance was in part self-interest, but there was also an important strategic element in trying to preserve a strong economy for a post-apartheid South Africa.
Probably the only time the UK might have used force over Rhodesia was when the Portuguese dictatorship was overthrown in April 1974, but again a Labour government had only just been elected and was short of a majority. They saw the main immediate challenge was to ensure that Portugal itself became a stable democracy. The Beira Patrol lasted until 25 June 1975, when Mozambique gained independence from Portugal and assured Britain that it would not allow transship oil to Rhodesia.
Doran’s book does not dwell much on the external pressures put on Ian Smith until independence in 1980; instead it provides a fascinating account of the origins and of the struggle of black Rhodesians for independence – the truly crucial factor.
How Joshua Nkomo was chosen to lead the Southern Rhodesian ANC (African National Congress) which was outlawed in July 1959 when Nkomo was travelling abroad. The continuing problem with Nkomo’s readiness to compromise, and in February 1961 he was publicly condemned for accepting new constitutional proposals which he soon backed off.
The British High Commissioner in Salisbury, Cuthbert Alport, later Lord Alport, wrote, “Nkomo’s fear of being bumped off… is, of course, absolute nonsense, but indicates his well-known physical cowardice… leading Africans sympathetic to ZAPU [the Zimbabwe African People’s Union having been formed in December 1961] now tend to write Nkomo off and are looking around for someone to replace him.” (Lord Alport telegram, 27 September 1962)
In early 1963, Mugabe was talking about the need to replace Nkomo, and on 8 August, the Revd Sithole announced the establishment of the Zimbabwean African National Union (ZANU).
Mugabe assumed the presidency of ZANU by default, when Sithole was formally deposed in 1973. He held that position until 2017. The rivalry between Nkomo and Mugabe had by the spring of 1977, when I first met them as Foreign Secretary, become painfully obvious and it was simmering in the background throughout the Malta conference in January 1978 to discuss the Anglo-American Plan.
This was also the time when we saw more of the tension between the military figures within the two armies of the Patriot Front and Field Marshal Lord Carver met them with Josiah Tongogara, the person he then believed held the key to a successful integration of the two armies in any pre-electoral period.
Nkomo tried in the summer of 1978 to engineer a place to come in as chairman of the internal settlement’s executive committee at the expense of Robert Mugabe. In a secret meeting with Ian Smith in Lusaka in the presence of President Kaunda and Joe Garba, the personal representative of President Olesegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, probably the most powerful single African figure at that time – the meeting was fully supported by the UK – I had told the US Secretary of State, Cyrus Vance, of the initiative but it was agreed that the US would remain sufficiently distant so that if the meeting failed they would not be damaged.
Mugabe was deliberately not invited, and Kaunda ruled out any involvement of Julius Nyerere and Samora Machel of Mozambique, feeling that the latter would have difficulty managing at a meeting in which at that time he could not speak fluent English. Nkomo called for a second meeting, perhaps sensing that Ian Smith was not fully on board, claiming he wanted to involve Mugabe. News of the meeting inevitably leaked and Nyerere was deeply hostile to it despite Garba briefing him in Dar es Salaam. The initiative was killed off by the shooting down of a Viscount aircraft with Nkomo claiming responsibility.
Tensions within the Patriotic Front were very visible at the Lancaster House Conference brilliantly chaired by my successor, Peter Carrington, at the end of 1979. Unfortunately Tongogara, the Zanla chief, was killed in a car accident on 26 December 1979. There is conflicting evidence as to whether that was an accident or an assassination, and Stuart Doran describes the background very well:
“It is clear that Tongogara’s meetings with ZIPRA and Nkomo and his inclusive approach, coupled with an open desire to lay down arms – neither of them popular positions within ZANU’s central committee – provided a motive for Tongogara’s elimination. A preference for Nkomo over Mugabe, if the central committee understood that to have been Tongogara’s attitude, supplied yet greater incentive. And Dabengwa also believed that Tongogara was opposed to the plan to use ZANLA to ensure an electoral victory, seeing this as the decisive factor in his death. But concrete evidence that he was assassinated has never emerged.”
There are many different interpretations of what actually happened once the Lancaster House conference was over. Doran describes how, after weeks of relentless pressure during the elections, the British position manifested itself in the approach of Christopher Soames, Carrington’s inspired choice as the last Governor of Southern Rhodesia:
“Slowly, the balance between international and internal considerations that had guided the British approach during Lancaster House began to shift. It had been difficult to reconcile the two when they were so often in conflict; the internal objective of a moderate, multiracial government friendly to the West had, for example, been problematic given that the external goal of achieving wide international support required the backing of countries which supported the PF and its ostensibly radical agenda. The solution had been to accept and sell compromises such as the adoption of Nkomo as a moderate and the notion that limited international recognition for the new government (with some – hopefully temporary – damage to Britain’s international relationships) would suffice. Such considerations continued to be in play, but undoubtedly the weight given to international factors had incrementally begun to increase under Soames, while there had been a decrease in the weight given to Britain’s internal aims.
“This was most clearly seen in the changing attitude to ZANLA’s clear and sustained breach of the ceasefire.”
Mugabe’s victory should have been no surprise to anyone. ZANU politically and ZANLA militarily had been building up strength steadily over the years. Initially Mugabe handled almost every aspect of his Prime Ministership in a spirit of reconciliation that surprised everyone including me. It was, in many respects, an even greater reconciliation than that which followed immediately after Mandela’s walk to freedom in South Africa. But there was one hurdle Mugabe could not personally surmount. Doran writes,
“While overtures to the whites were unambiguous, the signals given to ZAPU and other minority black parties were more equivocal and complex. This was a theatre whose language was poorly understood by Western observers, most of whom were impressed and distracted by Mugabe’s temperance towards the white community and its institutions. After discussions in the ZANU-PF central committee, Nkomo was offered the titular presidency.” It surprised nobody when Nkomo rejected it as it was widely seen as “a symbol of impotence among African liberation movements.”
Mugabe’s fatal decision, which was inherent in his deeply conflicted personality, was when he met with the North Korean leader, Kim Il-sung, at Tito’s funeral in Yugoslavia in May 1980. A meeting which the Korean Vice Premier, who visited Zimbabwe that July, told the Rhodesian Herald had “recorded a new chapter in the history of [bilateral] … relations” and that he had come to have further discussions when under the leadership of Mugabe the Zimbabwean people were “unfolding a dynamic struggle to consolidate their independence”.
Addressing ZANLA ex-combatants in August 1981, Mugabe announced the formation of 5 Brigade to be a “special unit” used to “deal with dissidents and any other trouble in the country”. It was to be trained and equipped by the North Koreans. Mnangagwa, who later in 2017 supplanted Mugabe as President, told the House of Assembly that 106 Korean instructors had arrived in Zimbabwe and would stay for 8-12 months. Zimbabwe’s own military intelligence in December 1981 reported that 5 Brigade was structurally ill-equipped for any serious military role and that “this Brigade to all intents and purposes non-integrated, has become a symbol of the One-Party state”.
Estimates of the total death toll attributed to the 5 Brigade’s operation in Gukurahundi in Matabeleland between 1983 and 1984 vary widely. The most accepted number is 20 000. The term genocide has also often been applied. Doran is careful, as befits his disciplined research, emphasising that “a charge and finding of genocide are dependent not only on extensive expert debate but also on a legal process”. The fact is that the world turned aside from putting its full weight behind a proper international investigation but Doran is clear that it was “motivated by political objectives and ethnopolitical animosity”.
“The depth of the attitudes and emotions that fed such actions were not possible – and nor are they comprehensible – without context of equal measure. In the same way, it was not possible to bring such a mindset to its logical conclusion during the formative years of the post-colonial nation-state without such events leaving an ineradicable mark on perpetrator, victim and nation. Yet the massive violence of the Gukurahundi and its proximity to independence do not on their own explain its defining character. Rather, the nature of the ideology itself was necessary: the vision that fed the Gukurahundi was not a tempestuous and untamed philosophy which impinged itself temporarily if devastatingly on the nation; the killings were instead an expression of a perverse ideal – of what ZANU-PF believed the people and their rulers were meant to be.”
As so often in politics, the personality of leaders is a critical factor and time after time its importance is underrated.
I have written extensively on this in a book called In Sickness and in Power first published in 2008 [David Owen, In Sickness and In Power. Illness in Heads of Government over the last 100 years (Methuen, 2008, updated edition 2016)]. I spent very many hours with Robert Mugabe in 1977 and 1978. Initially I was attracted by his seriousness, his careful use of words and apparent integrity: reluctance to lie, and high personal standards with no evidence of corruption. I had MI6 confirm he was not just a Catholic by name but at that time in Maputo a regular clandestine attender at mass. Yet he was also an open Maoist, something later continuously manifested in government with a close relationship with China.
It became very clear to me by the middle of 1978 that Mugabe was in favour of “re-educating” his people through a one-party state and so for all his personal crookedness and indecision Nkomo would be a better leader initially of Zimbabwe. From 1980-82 I felt embarrassed that I had misjudged Mugabe’s personality, but from 1982 onwards he gave every sign that he was and remains to this day a deeply conflicted zealot, the sort of person who should never be President of any country. That judgement was made after watching another zealot, a Maoist and a Buddhist, wreaking havoc on his people, namely Pol Pot, in Cambodia.
The question for Africa is: how much longer will its parliamentarians allow their leaders to remain in power, not just for one or two terms but for decades? South Africa may now be the country to demonstrate that there is another way forward, not only have they been able to oust President Zuma but he has now been served with very serious criminal charges. One of the interesting facets of South Africa under apartheid was that the courts remained remarkably resistant to successive Afrikaner governments. I first met Cyril Ramaphosa when he was a miners’ leader in 1979. I remember having breakfast with Nelson Mandela in London in 2007, when he confirmed to me that Ramaphosa had been his first choice to succeed him, but that was not the wish of the ANC. It is no exaggeration to say that on President Ramaphosa’s shoulders rests the future of the African continent.
Kingdom, Power, Glory should be at his bedside to dip into from time to time to remind him of the depth of the problems he faces.
Drama As Cop Breaks Out Of Jail
Police officer from Mbizo 16, Kwekwe, is in trouble after allegedly breaking out of cells at the Fairbridge detention barracks following his arrest for an undisclosed offence.
Tafadzwa Mpofu (27) denied the charge of escape from lawful custody when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Franklin Mkhwananzi on Tuesday. He was remanded in custody to tomorrow.
The court heard that Mpofu was a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and on May 27, 2015, at around 7pm he was locked up in a cell at ZRP Fairbridge detention barracks together with other inmates.
Clifford Chimuti a police officer based at ZRP Fairbridge camp and his workmate Abigail Nyathi checked the cells at around 3am and discovered that Mpofu was missing.
It is alleged that Mpofu had broken the main screen door and escaped while other inmates were asleep.
He was later arrested and charged with escaping from lawful custody. Newsday
MDC Dismisses Cops Dzamara Search
The MDC-T has accused the police of playing politics on the disappearance of political activist Itai Dzamara, who is believed to have been abducted by State security agents three years ago.
MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora said, while the party would want Dzamara to be brought back safe and alive, they were disappointed by police’s seemingly lackadaisical approach to the matter.
“They are not serious, that is political posturing ahead of the elections, because after three years and court interventions they all of a sudden wake up to appeal for public help on a matter that they know about,” he said.
Mwonzora called on police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga to show more commitment to the matter.
“Where the police and State security agents are involved, you see by the absence of arrests, three years down the line, when all tracks have gone cold there was not even a single arrest of a suspect, even a phoney one,” he said.
This came hard on the heels of a statement by police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba, where she appealed for public help to put closure to Dzamara’s case.
A former police officer who spoke to NewsDay on condition of anonymity blasted police for pussy footing over the matter, saying if they were committed they would by now have picked up the suspects and vehicle used in the alleged abduction of the activist.
Dzamara’s younger brother, Patson, also said he was angry over police delays in concluding investigations into the issue.
“I was shocked yesterday to learn about the statement by ZRP asking for help to find Itai three years after his abduction. It is over a year since the last time there was an engagement between us and ZRP. How they are trying to trivialise this matter in order to present a reformed face is not only repugnant, it’s preposterous. It’s not only nonsensical but diabolic for the people who abducted my brother to be asking Zimbabweans to assist them with answers,” he said.
Dzamara said he tried to get former President Robert Mugabe and even President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his brother’s release but to no avail.
“From the onset, I never minced my words regarding who abducted Itai. That satanic act was executed by the military intelligence under the oversight of Zanu PF. Not only that, up until now, these are the same people who have egregiously stonewalled me (us) every time I (we) tried to engage them about this issue. We tried to engage Mugabe and his government to no avail. From the time Mnangagwa snatched power from Mugabe, I wrote him two letters seeking for a platform to engage. Not once did I get a response,” he said.
Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC) said it has to be noted that since Dzamara’s disappearance, the ZRP has been frustrating efforts by pro-democracy groups in search of the missing human rights activist.
CiZC said as a result, there were a series of arrests and assaults of the concerned individuals by the law enforcement agents.
“To make matters worse, the ZRP went on to defy a High Court order to search for the missing activist and give regular updates to Parliament and former President, Robert Mugabe’s spokesperson, George Charamba event went on to state that the former Head of State was too busy to be occupied with the issue of Dzamara,” the grouping said. Mujuru Like Jesus On A Donkey, Spokesperson
Approach On A Donkey!!! Opinion By Jeff Chitando
When Jesus entered into Jerusalem he was riding on a young donkey. If we had to give some of you the option , you wouldn’t have chosen to enter Jerusalem riding on a donkey. Jesus could not have instructed His disciples to bring him a donkey when they could have brought a horse .If we were to ask most of you today, definitely you would have chosen a horse than a donkey.
A horse was a war animal. Chariots were for battles. If Jesus had chosen to enter Jerusalem on a horse it was a symbol of war.Jesus choose a donkey which symbolized peace, love, humility ,poverty and fairness.
This Easter remember whenever you are approaching anyone -ride on a donkey. Ride on humbleness, peace, forgiveness, love , respect and fairness. The Church Elders who were to crucify Jesus were all armed prepared for war. They were shocked when Jesus entred Jerusalem on a donkey-peace and love!!!
The Jews who were prepared for war against Jesus were shocked. *”A large crowd took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Jesus, crying out .”Hosanna Blessed is the he comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!* John 12 v13.
Jesus had given His enemies an olive branch. If the Jews had dared attack Him the crowd would have fought on Jesus’ side. This is because Jesus had approached His enemies riding on humility, peace, love, respect and honor. *Jesus won the battle without a fight just because he used the strongest weapon-love,humbleness, peace, respect and honor* The Bible record this as the *Triumphal Entry*!!!!
It was triumphal entry only because Jesus knew the mode of transport to use.Its up to you to win any battle provided you select to approach the problem riding on what type of animal–peace, love, humbleness etc.
I remember when Grace Mugabe attacked Dr Joice Teurai Ropa Mujuru ,she kept silent– riding on a donkey– love, peace, humbleness, forgiveness, respect and Mujuru won the battle without a word.
I will always respect Dr Joice Mujuru for approaching her rival riding on a donkey . Quality of good leadership!!When you enter the ballot box , its important to place your *X* on a leader who has shown –peace, love and humbleness.
Have safe and blessed Easter!!!
IN PICTURES: “Prophet” Magaya Now Bankrupt?
By Own Correspondent| Walter Magaya’s world seems to be crumbling down as the latest development is the attachment of his house and property by the High Court for owing $209 794.89.
Sources from inside the High Court of Zimbabwe confirmed to ZimEye.com the court order and its execution citing that Magaya had failed to pay back what he owes Stanbic Bank Of Zimbabwe.
When contacted for a comment Stanbic Bank refused to shed any further light beyond just confirming the case and redirecting ZimEye back to the High Court.
Investigations revealed that on the 26th of March 2018, the High Court gave a mandate to Prolific Auctions to collect and auction Prophetic Healing and Deliverance leader Walter Magaya’s household goods and vehicles.
A tour at the auction floors with an informer gave ZimEye a glimpse of the property which includes 3 vehicles.
ZimEye also obtained the court document (attached) confirming the shameful state the preacher was found in, or at the least declared himself to be. ZimEye performed a structured inspection to compile the list below using the tags that were on the furniture and vehicles as the auctioneer would not divulge because is not in their practice to reveal sources of the goods they sell.
Among the goods are :-
1 FORD double cab (orange) ADR 9024
1 MERCEDES BENZ Eclass (white) AAD 1798
1 MAZDA DEMIO (blue) ACY 1777
1 Brown Leather lounge suit
1 Brown Fabric Lounge suit
2 Dining room sets
5 Wall mirrors
2 Brown visitors chairs
1 black telephone desk
1 Fridge upright
The list goes on as the other wares were pilled on top of the others.

Chamisa Loses Mawarire Support, And Why?

Most young people of Zimbabwe do not at all believe in the leadership of themselves. I have also come to understand that it is all because of being jealousy of each other.
They would rather vote for madalaz/old people instead of voting for one of their own. Evan Mawarire can be a good political leader but I think the guy is too greedy. He wants all the credits on himself. He has a lot of followers but he still can’t even campaign for young leadership.
He prefers to be a goalkeeper, defender, striker, assistant coach and then be a team manager at the same time. He wants it all to himself. Fadzayi Mahere can also be a good leader. But sadly she also wants it to herself.
If this generation can’t support one of their own then this generation is going backwards. Linda Masarira can also be a good future leader but she is very short tempered and can also be tagged in very useless posts like tribalism posts and hatred posts. She still has a mentality of being an activist.
It’s high time she learns to separate the difference between an activist and an MP. She is young but she still can’t believe in the leadership of the young generation. She also wants it all to herself. Lumumba is full of dramas. He is easily convinced. He talks sense but he doesn’t walk his talk. He is more of a good talker.
Sadly with the way he has been taken to courts because of fraud, I don’t think he can be trusted with our future. The guy changes anytime and can ditch you at any time. Kuda Musasiwa can be arrogant sometimes but I have discovered that the guy is always straight to the point.
He is one of those people who talks and acts. He can engage in any conversation and say out his thoughts without hiding anything. His problem most of the times is this…. he speaks to win the discussion or argument. He wants to be the one to be heard and understood. He doesn’t want to learn from other people’s views and thoughts. He believes in the young leadership though. Tajamuka went dololo after the removal of Mugabe.
Tajamuka is a group of young people who mostly wait for their leader to say something to them. But I think this group does not at all fully understand that it was not all about Mugabe. Tajamuka was so very active during the days of Mugabe, but after the removal of Mugabe the group became so stagnant. They did not at all bother to talk much about the importance of registering to vote.
They did not at all campaign motivating the young people to register to vote. This group wants everything to be about them. Nelson Chamisa has been the only young leader to always talk about everyone to come together and build a better Zimbabwe. He believes in the future of the young generation, but this young generation is full of jealousy and hatred. They don’t want to see one of their own succeeding.
They would rather drag him down than to support him. They would rather sacrifice their souls to the old leadership than to be led by one of their own generation. The rests of this young generation are only focusing on themselves.
Evan Mawarire was supposed to be there fighting for a better Zimbabwe for this young generation but the guy went dead after the removal of Mugabe. It was not the old people or madalaz who stood by him in the courts. It was this young generation who stood firmly with him.
But now he can’t do the same. It’s always about him. Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa is still young and beautiful. But sadly this beautifulness is nothing if this young generation can’t even stand to support each other. That is why we still have so many young Independent Candidates because we don’t believe in one of our own. We are so filled with jealousy and show offs. There is nothing wrong at all by a young man or woman to become an Independent MP or President, but our main objective this time was to leave our difference behind and get rid of ZANU PF once and for all. The change we want comes in a very sacrificial way. I know we don’t like each other, but this time we were supposed to unite and remove ZANU PF from power for the best. Sadly we want to prove to the nation who has got a lot of followers. We are the enemies of our own future. It’s high time we all stop blaming ZANU PF for everything. We must learn to also look ourselves in the mirror and take the blame. We are the ones creating the problems for ourselves because of too much greediness and jealousy towards one another. This young generation continues to destroy Zimbabwe and blames it on Mugabe and ZANU PF. We are going to blame others forever because we have already proven that we can’t unite and build The Best Zimbabwe we want for ourselves and our kids.

“Freed Prisoners Vow To Vote For ED”
By Paul Nyathi| Is President Emmerson Mnangagwa guaranteed of 4 000 votes already? This could be the question as most of the pardoned prisoners have vowed to rush to go and register as voters and promise to “pay back” Mnangagwa by voting for him.
The President this week granted freedom to over 3 000 prisoners under a special presidential amnesty in a bid to reduce congestion at the country’s prisons.
Elated freed prisoners who talked to the media on their way out of prison mostly indicated that their first point of call will be voter registration centres where they want to go and register as voters and promise to vote for Mnangagwa for giving them unexpected early freedom.
Phephelaphi Gumbo, who was serving a 20-year jail sentence for aggravated indecent assault, could not hide her joy and appreciation for the gesture by President Mnangagwa.
“I was sentenced to 20 years for aggravated indecent assault last year. I came here in August and had completed six months of my sentence.
“I was sentenced for a crime I did not commit but I would like to thank President Mnangagwa for the kind gesture. I would have rotted in prison if it were not for him, I wish the Lord to add more years to his life, he is very kind and as I go out, I will definitely vote for him,” said Ms Gumbo.
Ms Ethel Ncube, who was serving a nine year sentence for stock theft, was jailed while heavily pregnant and gave birth to her in daughter in prison.
“My father got me arrested when I was heavily pregnant, I hoped he would he pardon me but now the President has pardoned me. He is not my father but he has pardoned me, he is a good man and I am definitely going to register and vote for him,” she said.
“I left my children and I was heavily pregnant, now my daughter is one year and one month old,” said Ms Ncube.
One of the happiest women who sang and danced upon her release was Charmaine Ngwenya (35) who was serving a 30 month sentence for assault.
She said she was grateful and was definitely going to register to vote for Mnangagwa.
“I came here for assault, I came here in December, but what our President has done makes me happy and he deserves my vote. I was not expecting to be out this time of the year.
“I am so happy; I don’t know how I will thank President Mnangagwa. Today I will sleep at home,” she said.
“The President’s decision to pardon us has come as a relief to me,” said a released male convict.
“He deserves all our votes,” he said.
“First and foremost I want to thank prison officials who kept me for 24 years since 1994. I was condemned to face a death penalty but after seven years my sentence was commuted to life and the President saw it fit that I be released to face the world.
“I was facing a murder charge after I mistakenly killed my father with a knife while trying to defend my mother who had been a victim of violent behaviour since we were young. We were arrested and sentenced to death. My mother was released in 2005 under Presidential amnesty. I do not know where to start. I do not even know if I still have a wife and relatives. They stopped visiting me a long time ago including my mother.”
A total of 699 prisoners have been freed from Bulawayo, Hwange, Victoria Falls prisons following the Presidential amnesty.
662 prisoners were released from prisons in Bulawayo while a combined 37 inmates were released from the Hwange and Victoria Falls prisons on Monday and yesterday.
In an interview with state media yesterday soon after the release of inmates at Bulawayo Prison, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services public relations officer for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Principal Correctional Officer Garainashe Moyo said a total of 662 prisoners had been released from Khami and Bulawayo prisons.
Out of the 814 names that have been submitted for pardon, a total of 662 have already been released from Khami and Bulawayo prisons since Monday.
He urged people to accept the former inmates and also pleaded with the inmates to avoid being repeat offenders.
“We are saying to them do not to come back here, society should accept these people so that they feel that they are not misfits, they are an integral part of society, your societies,” said Moyo.

Mnangagwa To Release Another 662 Prisoners
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to release another large number of prisoners.
662 inmates are on the roll to be released. This is part of the President’s plan to release Prisoners with sentences under 36 months who have served a quarter of their term. The list also includes terminally ill inmates.
Zimbabwe’s prisons currently hold about 20,000 inmates but the properties have a capacity of only 17,000.
Zimbabwe Prisons’ Principal Correctional Officer Garainashe Moyo told the state media a total of 662 prisoners had been released from Khami and Bulawayo prisons. He said out of the 814 names that have been submitted for pardon, a total of 662 have already been released from Khami and Bulawayo prisons since Monday. 166 prisoners were released from Bulawayo Prison, 263 from Khami Maximum, 115 from Khami Medium, 67 from Khami Remand Prison and 51 from Mlondolozi Mental and Female prison.
Moyo urged people to accept the former prisoners and also pleaded with the inmates to avoid being repeat offenders. Among the 37 inmates released from Hwange and Victoria Falls prisons are two Zambians William Tembo of Chongwe area and Gerald Mlambo of Maramba in Livingstone.
Judge To Summon Perpetrators Of Violence
The National Peace and Reconciliation Commission head, Judge Selo Nare will summon and and any perpetrators of violence as according to the body’s powers.
Judge Nare said, “we have been asked as regards what we are doing with the elections. There are Chapter 12 commissions; they’re actually five. We interrelate… we are working on how we can have a peaceful election by putting our heads together.
“As the NPRC, we are trying to write out a paper to have more teeth to ourselves where we can be able to call, say if there is a conflict like that one that happened in Buhera, find out from ( MDC-T Nelson) Chamisa whether they have healed, what is the position. It’s all focused towards peace building. We are having issues of intra party violence so this commission is also mandated to ensure that there is dialogue. We encourage political parties to engage in dialogue and find meaningful solutions as a way of conflict resolution.” – state media
FULL TEXT: Death Of 3 Zimbabwean Rangers Who Drowned While Taking Selfies
The International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF) is deeply saddened by the accidental drowning deaths of two rangers and one ranger instructor from the Akashinga team in Zimbabwe.
During a patrol on March 25, 2018, five wildlife protection rangers were on patrol in the lower Zambezi Valley. Three members of the team began crossing a river while two others navigated around a cliff face. While Rangers Tendai Hunawe, Edzai Malunga and Tarzman Foma crossed the river, one began to struggle. The other two quickly came to her aid. Tragically, all three drowned.
Zimbabwe Republic Police officers were immediately notified and responded to the location where the bodies of the rangers were recovered. They were joined on-site by IAPF founder Damien Mander.
In keeping with local protocols and tradition, funerals will be held immediately. IAPF is providing all possible assistance to families, relatives, and affected local communities.
All of us at IAPF extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this tragedy.
This is a heartbreaking set of circumstances. The Akashinga team is a close-knit unit. These deaths are extremely distressing for everyone involved. Despite the hardship, loss, and sadness, the other members of the Akashinga team continue to conduct patrols in defence of wildlife and work with local communities to identify poachers and stop them.
Akashinga means “The Brave Ones.” The brave women of Zimbabwe rose to defend the wildlife of their country and they have proved their capabilities time and time again since the formation of the unit in 2017.
Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the families of those passed, while we continue striving towards a day when armed rangers may not be required to protect nature.
Chamisa Didn’t Dupe Ngarivhume Komichi Clears Air
Allegations that MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa’s administration duped Transform Zimbabwe leader, Jacob Ngarivhume were yesterday dismissed.
Mr Ngarivhume had complained that he is losing party seats which the MDC-T has taken over, the same which were previously allocated to his formation in the MDC Alliance.
But speaking late yesterday, MDC-T deputy national chairperson Mr Morgan Komichi dismissed assertions by Mr Ngarivhume.
“I think Mr Ngarivhume and other partners are confusing an interest that would have been shown by our members in respect of those constituencies,” he said.
He added saying “in some instances, some of our members might feel that they could do better than a member of the alliance and would submit their curriculum vitaes in respect of those constituencies, but at the end of the day, it is the national election directorate with the final say.”
Komichi said Mr Ngarivhume for rushing to the media instead of bringing grievances to the organs of the Alliance.
But Mr Ngarivhume insisted that they had evidence showing that the MDC-T was bent on breaching the agreement they entered into with the other parties.
He said their membership from across the province had compiled the evidence and presented it to the Alliance.

Grace Mugabe Good Bye
By Chigumbu Warikandwa| Now that the local news wires are ablaze with how lewd Mrs Grace Mugabe conducted herself in front of the law, it becomes clear that to her and her family, the Constitution was just but one of those papers and had very little regard of it. Her crooked dealings and undisguised malevolence is a true picture of the scenes that remained hidden behind the curtains until her husband threw in the towel on November 21, 2018, an historic day!
The culture of impunity by power holders is the hallmark of corruption. While Constitutions are designed to oil democracy, the Mugabe family seized the opportunity to deflower the same Constitution in order to trample upon everybody’s human rights except theirs and those of a few thieves surrounding them. The sole aim of this corruption of the rule of law was primarily to enrich themselves. While it is unwise to wade into matters sub judice, it leaves any political watcher on the edge to spill out her soul on the doggedness of the dealings of the characters that stayed under the infamous blue roof. Culprit-in-chief being the mother of the household, none other than Mrs Grace Mugabe, a wastrel charlatan who used every State resource at her disposal to launder her fetid character.
Mrs Mugabe-run thugs and henchmen’s efforts have been recorded in smuggling, poaching, mineral racketeering, violence, ordinary thievery, oppression of the poor and weak and extortion. I’m neither an enemy nor a political opponent of the defrocked former boss of the women’s league. What I am merely doing is chronicling the scattered events of adult delinquency that come laced with the name Grace Mugabe.
Throughout her pseudo political career enveloping a most terrifying mafia-style underworld criminology, she used every public resource to portray herself as a noteworthy philanthropist. Behind that philanthropy, the so called Doctor of Psychology Philosophy was chasing nothing but wealth. Illegal wealth. Where in Africa has an orphanage been established to demand school fees from the same orphans running into several thousands of dollars per term per child? Even middle class families find that kind of spending on just one child extravagance of note. How did she enrol her orphans anyway? That school surely has a different definition for an orphanage. Yours truly admits that the place is beautiful and that orphaned children deserve all comforts that can be availed by a benefactor. But, as a public figure running a project earmarked for public benefit, the criterion used to enrol the orphans should have been made public.
Without disclosure, one will be left to believe that all the orphans at the infamous orphanage had living parents. Word escaping that school’s high walls was to the effect that the place existed above any Constitution on the land. The woman’s wrath was sufficient for both the guilty and the innocent. Fear was the order of the day for the staff that manned the place in any capacity. Well, away with the goings on of this curious school.
Now in with the happenings of Blue Roof. Mugabe’s public complains on one of his famous birthday interviews when the nonagenarian husband poured out his heart and loneliness inside the grandeur of the mansion about his wife’s uncircumcised and uncouth behaviour left the nation awe-stricken. A fortnight ago, the elderly former president confessed that it was his same wife that asked him to resign in 2017. This did not come as a surprise as Mugabe has for long been on record consulting his unschooled wife even on matters that fell well beyond her purview and depth. What the ordinary observer could deduce was that the poor old man had become the woman’s decoy in everything, from private to public life. This woman was Mugabe’s biggest undoing of his life, the source of his fall from grace to the hall of shame.
With a wife like Grace who needs enemies? In South Africa, the Engels family has very low regard of any woman Zimbabwean courtesy of this thick mannered woman. Her shenanigans do not stop only in Africa. The world had gained a scoundrel of a first lady in her form. During her time, Zimbabwe could as well do without a first lady.
And now a new party born out of the pangs of disgruntlement, the NPF has Grace’s handwriting all over it. How laughable! Which half brained person would want political relations with a woman history is tired of? Which person who cares about his emotional stability wants to put herself anywhere near that tragicomic character of a woman? Even a nameless island which nobody is fighting for because of its lack of material wealth deserves such drama for a leader. And thanks to the hands of time, the Grace moment of Zimbabwe has already gone beyond its twilight. God bless Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa Meets 1200 CEOs And Investors
“I have spent the past two days at the African CEO Forum in Côte d’Ivoire promoting the new Zimbabwe.
“While there, I addressed 1200 CEOs and investors, sharing my vision for investment-led economic growth, and held individual meetings with political and business leaders from around the world.
“These international visits are crucial as they enable us to bring in the investment that will lead to jobs, opportunity and prosperity.
“I return home buoyed by the enthusiastic response to our message, and confident that we are one step closer to building a prosperous and stable Zimbabwe for all, not just for today or tomorrow, but for generations to come.” – Emmerson Mnangagwa
Congolese Giants Demand $ 70 000 For Zim Player’ s Clearance
By Terrence Mawawa| Congolese soccer giants AS Vita have all but ended Oscar ‘Mahindra’ Machapa’ s hopes of playing for Caps United after demanding a staggering $ 70 000 for his clearance.
AS Vita are reportedly demanding the whopping sum from Machapa – to give him a reverse international clearance.
According to The Herald, Machapa still has a running contract with the Congolese Giants but has decided to return home, citing security concerns in Kinshasa.
He was included in Lloyd Chitembwe’s team, replacing captain Hardlife Zvirekwi who was injured in a car accident.
“He (Machapa) decided to settle for CAPS United as he thought it would be easy to get the reverse international clearance.
“But as Vita are now demanding $70 000 –
which CAPS United are not in a position to pay.
As it stands, Machapa will not feature for CAPS as getting the clearance is not that simple,” a Caps United official said yesterday.

“During my 12 year stay in Michigan USA in the month of July 2007 I succumbed to an immigration scam conducted by some crafty conmen.
Thereafter I was approached by the authorities of whom I fully cooperated with by admitting that I had been lured into making a false statement by these individuals.
My input led to the arrest and conviction of the culprits. I paid a fine and the case was closed in October 2008. I continued my stay in the USA until December 2011 when I moved back home out of my own will.
I have since continued to travel to the USA several times since I left. I am however more excited about serving my country by participating in the reconstruction and development of our City as one who gained a lot of knowledge in how to run cities efficiently. I believe it is possible to make Harare a great city again.”

they are improving daily.
There is still a lot of work to be done for us to be

by the end of the week,” said a member of the Mighty Warriors technical team.
“The preparation time is definitely not enough, we
would have loved to have more time to train and probably have a

competitiveness,” added the member of the Mighty Warriors technical team.
Zimbabwe will play the first leg away in Namibia on
April, 5 and they will host their opponents three days
later at Rufaro Stadium.
Renaming Of Places Will Not Revive Economy- MDC
Terrence Mawawa
The MDC Gutu West Constituency Information Department has lambasted the ruling party Zanu PF for focusing on trivial matters instead of coming up with economic recovery strategies
“Zanu PF believes in the renaming of places.
The airport, the army barracks and universities have been renamed.
When they
rename the places, they boast as if they would have constructed
those facilities from scratch.
On the contrary our leader Nelson Chamisa’s speeches are quite explicit.
The president(Chamisa) has clearly
articulated his short term, medium term and long term
plans.
For sustainability we do not need short
term plans only but long term projections as well,” said the MDC Gutu West Constituency Publicity Department in a statement.
MP Faces Expulsion For Supporting Grace Mugabe
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
A Zanu PF legislator is under fire for having close links with former First Lady Grace Mugabe.
Party hawks are pressing for the expulsion of Chivi Central MP Ephraim Gwanongodza who is said to be a member of the G-40 faction.
Party bigwigs in Chivi also want former MP Paul Mangwana to replace Gwanongodza.
“We have solid facts to prove that Gwanongodza is a G-40 member,” said a Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee member.
Gwanongodza dismissed the allegations as utter falsehoods being peddled by his detractors.
Man Axes Mum To Death Over Domestic Dispute
Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo
A mentally challenged Chivi man axed his mother to death following a domestic dispute, according to the police.
The man accused his mother of denying him permission to build his hut at a place he had chosen.
Acting Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa said the tragic incident happened on March 22, 2018.
“A mentally challenged man struck his mother, Esther Davirai with an axe following a domestic dispute.
The man also axed his younger brother several times as he tried to restrain him from attacking their mother.
However the younger brother was rushed to hospital,” said Dehwa.
‘Mnangagwa Mantra, A Tale Of Empty Promises’
Terrence Mawawa
Hard hitting social media analyst Antony Taruvinga has challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to address the real issues that are nagging the people of Zimbabwe.
Taruvinga has described Mnangagwa as a mere “clown” who is clueless about reviving the country’ s waning economy.
Yesterday Taruvinga used a pictorial illustration to lash out at Mnangagwa.
“Ediot is totally clueless about reviving the economy. He is presenting a basket of empty promises to the people of Zimbabwe,” wrote Taruvinga.
However Mnangagwa’ s sympathisers responded by accusing Taruvinga of using derogatory comments to soil the President’ s image.
Mzila Claims: Chamisa A Dictator
By Prosperity Mzila | Little by little, Nelson Chamisa is exhibiting traits of a dictator, he is imposing conditions on the MDC-T party and its members, making unilateral decisions and going back on his word, one too many times.
If this is left to continue, Chamisa will soon turn the MDC-T into his own chase board where he will be calling the shots without counsel from other MDC-T leaders. He has reneged on all the window dressing promises he made to the party’s National Council. Despite his promises to uphold the late Morgan Tsvangirai’s party principles, his true colours are slowly emerging.
MDC-T Members of Parliament are up in arms against Chamisa for causing disharmony in the party by going against his initial word that he will give a blank cheque to the sitting MDC-T Members of Parliament (MP). Chamisa has sent out a circular to both aspiring and sitting MPs advising them of the new criteria for one to be considered for the primary elections. Sitting MPs are required to submit detailed copies of their Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a non-refundable fee of US$1000, whilst non-Members of Parliament are required to submit their CV and US$100.
The MPs are flabbergasted by Chamisa’s actions with most of them claiming to expose his double standards. The MPs are angry that Chamisa is backtracking on his initial promise which he gave while trying to gunner support to grab power from Thokozani Khupe. The issue is that Chamisa is trying to pave way for his friends from the Alliance in MDC-T strongholds and the US$1000 is a prohibitive amount meant to eliminate some MPs if they fail to pay. Word has it that he is aware of some MPs that will not be able to afford the amount and as such, will be eliminated from the pool of candidates, hence creating constituencies for his ‘friends’.
However, MDC-T Masvingo Provincial Chairperson, James Gumbi has declared that he will choose candidates of his choice and Chamisa will not be able to stop him. Gumbi claims that he is responsible for influencing Tsvangirai to appoint Chamisa and Elias Mudzuri to vice presidency. He credits himself because of the part he played and has declared Chamisa powerless against his decisions. One wonders what skeletons Gumbi has discovered in Chamisa’s cupboard.
It should also be noted that Chamisa has backtracked on every promise he has made, a poor attribute for a leader. This makes him a liability to the party and to the people. It would appear Chamisa has become a dictator in the making and that is a very scary and frightening thought indeed. Imagine a leader that changes his principles overnight, such a leader is bound to change the Constitution to ensure that he stays in power for more than the stipulated two terms. If the MDC-T/ Alliance is not careful, soon they will be staring straight in the face of a dictator.
Hands Off Alliance Seats: Chamisa Told
By Talent Gondo| Transform Zimbabwe (TZ), one of the political parties within the MDC Alliance, has accused the MDC T of disregarding the agreements made under the coalition hinting that the party might pull out of the Alliance and go it alone in the forthcoming polls.
TZ President Jacob Ngarivhume told journalists in Harare today that following the party’s Congress held in Harare recently, the party noted with concern how the MDC T was disregarding agreements made under the Alliance regarding seat allocation and candidate selection.
“There is general disregard of Alliance agreements on the appointment of candidates in constituencies reserved for Alliance partners,” said Ngarivhume.
He said members of his party were aggrieved over failure by the Alliance to allocate to TZ seats in Matabeleland.
“TZ has not been allocated a single seat in all the three Matabeleland provinces. Concern has also been raised over the marginalization of the party where we have not been allocated urban seats for our council and parliamentary candidates,” said Ngarivhume.
He said his party had unanimously agreed to engage the MDC T and Alliance leadership over the matter and all the other outstanding issues of the Alliance which he said he could not disclose on the basis that they were not for public consumption.
“We are therefore calling on the MDC T to nullify all primary election results for constituencies allocated to Transform Zimbabwe and the party should make an unequivocal undertaking that there will be no MDC T candidates contesting in seats allocated to alliance partners.”
Ngarivhume affirmed his party’s commitment to the principles and values of the Alliance revealing that his party was going to contest the forthcoming polls under the Alliance.
He however said that this gesture should not be viewed as an indication that the party could not break away from the Alliance and contest independently.
“TZ affirms it’s commitment to the ideals of the Alliance but this should not be mistaken for the lack of capacity to go it alone in the undesirable situation where the Alliance fails to hold,” he added.
Delegates at the Congress elected the party’s Substantive Executive Committee headed by Ngarivhume as it’s President, who is deputised by Reason Mandhlenkosi Ngwenya.
The party also launched its election manifesto policy dubbed IGNITE. According to TZ, the first I on IGNITE stands for Industrialisation and Infrastructure Development, while G is for Good Governance, N for National Integration, I for Inclusive Society, T for Transformational Leadership and E is for an Empowered Society.

President Mnangagwa Walks The Economic Talk | OPINION
By Rufaro Gijima| A good leader is one who knows the way, shows the way and goes all the way.
Quoting from John Maxwell, “Personal and organizational effectiveness is proportionate to the strength of leadership,” as what has been witnessed in the new political dispensation.
Judging from Zimbabwe’s economic activities in the past four months, it is safe to conclude that under President Mnangagwa’s stewardship, Zimbabwe is fast becoming an economic powerhouse.
Whilst President Mnangagwa has been criticized for failing to campaign by certain ‘sympathizers,’ what better way of campaigning surpasses walking the talk, especially when other contenders are all talk, talk and unattainable promises only.
As the country gears for elections this July, it is only normal for competitors to pick on each other, in their quest to appease the electorate, hence the need for voters to evaluate on the best candidate.
Whilst more than 100 contenders are in the race, the salient candidates remain Zanu PF and MDC, (President Mnangagwa and Chamisa respectively).
Unlike Mugabe who gained notoriety for his infamous rant on providing 2, 2 million jobs, and Chamisa who has since promised bullet trains, and turning Victoria Falls into Las Vegas, the current President seems to be more focused on tangible results especially towards economic revival.
While I don’t wish to discredit or question Chamisa’s credibility to revive the economy, the question is, what is it that he has done for the economy apart from holding rallies and promising the electorates pies in the sky.
In as much as it is commendable for Chamisa to hop on every province, announcing his existence and legitimacy as MDC’s president, clearly Chamisa still needs a lot to do to convince the electorate that he is results oriented.
Actually elections are the last thing that the country needs right now, for now, all the focus should be on rebuilding the economy and advancing economic prosperity.
As Zimbabwe continues to expand its network of top level business contacts and new financial partners, the President is currently in Senegal, attending the Africa CEO’s Forum, thus walking the talk.
Merely tracing last week’s events, the country recovered USD $591, 1 million from externalized funds, Willowton Group opened a $40 million refinery in Mutare, and the President commissioned a US $500 000 Nestle Zimbabwe’s Cremora filling and packaging plant, and President signed the African Free Trade Area at the Kigali Convention, Rwanda. What more can we really ask for?
Zimbabwe has embarked on a much stronger economic growth path following President Mnangagwa’s ascendency to power and the change of administration in the country has generally given foreigners optimism of strengthening and re-establishing of bilateral investment agreements with Zimbabwe, making it an export destination of choice.
Most economic analysts also concur that economic prowess in the country is being driven by the envisaged stable political environment following the change in political administration, improved business confidence and anticipated turnaround from key sectors of the economic sectors, but mainly its political will from the leaders.
So before casting the ballot box, there is need to remember that economic revival lie in the hands of the leader, and for now Mnangagwa has what it takes, and what the country and economy needs.

Junior Mavule and 15 others — all former students of Nagle House School said they never cheated.
Revelations of this leak come after Primary and Secondary Education minister Paul Mavima also cancelled the 2017 ‘‘O’’Level English Paper 2, which the High Court ruled was not to be considered.
“On October 24, 2017, the pupils sat for their Mathematics Paper 2 examination at around 8:30 hours at the school. During the examination, … Godfrey Muchenyu who was an invigilator recovered a sheet of paper from one of the pupils, Precious Sanyangore which had answers to the examination questions which were being written.
“When Sanyangore was interrogated by the school authorities she revealed that she had obtained the answers and solutions from Melisa Songore who was also interrogated and she produced a paper with examination answers,” the court heard. The pupils, however, told the court that after finishing writing the examination, they were all summoned for questioning over the issue of cheating by the school headmaster. The pupils denied knowledge of the issue and were subjected to bodily and bag searches.
“The school headmaster called in two officials from Zimsec who made the two write reports. In the reports, the two admitted to have had access to the answers of the paper that was being written and implicated all the other pupils although there was nothing tangible that was found to link all the other pupils to the alleged examination fraud,” the pupils said. After this incident, the court heard, the pupils sat for the other outstanding examinations without any incident.
However, on November 9, last year, the school headmaster only identified in court papers as A. Kurisa took all the pupils to Marondera Criminal Investigations Department in the afternoon for interrogations and they were only released at 8pm.
“. . .The applicant and other pupils were charged for contravening Section 35 (a) of the Zimbabwe School Examinations Act (Chapter 25:18) to which they continued to deny the allegation.
“On the 6th of December 2017, Zimsec wrote to the headmaster of Nagle House School advising of its decision to cancel all the November 2017 examination for all the applicants on the basis of examination malpractice. All the applicants and their guardians only got to know about the cancellation of the results on January 5, 2018,” the court heard.
Following the cancellation of the results, the pupils through their guardians filed an urgent chamber application, seeking to cancel Zimsec’s decision and have the results released. The High Court is yet to make a determination in the matter.
CHAMISA BLAST: Road to Victory (R2V): Nero On Tuesday
1. The national Council and its deliberations
The national council on Friday noted and acknowledged the fact that the party had positively rebranded is renewing and has positively re-energized its base and its organs as testified by the continued affirmation and reinvigoration of its national strength and dominance.
The same council noted that the people’s party of excellence has re-affirmed itself as a revolutionary, democratic and patriotic movement ready to provide national leadership.
On Friday, 23 March 2018, the national council of the party sat and made far reaching decisions, some of them painful, as we enter the home-stretch to this year’s watershed plebiscite.
The shedding off of beloved comrades for undermining party organs and putting the party into disrepute was painful. These are colleagues who had stood resolute in the course of the democratic struggle in the country, only for them to misguidedly let off their guard.
It was unfortunate that petty selfish interests got the better of our beloved colleagues at a time when Canaan was well within our sight.
2. Handeyi Kumusha/Asambeni ekhaya
Our weekend programmes in Murehwa and at Nzvimbo growth point in Chiweshe went into to confirm the nation traction of our party and its resonance with grassroots supporters in the villages in Mashonaland East and Mashonaland Central provinces.
For the first time, our thrust is going to be the rural areas in order to debunk and offload the myth that these areas are citadels of the outgoing government as led by Zanu PF.
We will intensify our forays into the rural areas to educate, engage and inform our parents and our brothers and sisters about the urgency of NOW in the context of transformation and real change.
In Murehwa, before the rally, I had occasion to meet with a wide range of stakeholders among them war veterans, farmers, tomato growers, community leadrs, business persons. All these diverse groups shared with me their hopes and aspirations about the future of this country.
I got to hear the concerns and complaints from areas such as Mutoko, Mudzi and Uzumba. These concerns centred on intimidation, harassment and victimization of citizens on account of supporting the incoming government led by the MDC Alliance.
They also raised the challenges of underdevelopment, including cases where children have to walk long distances to school. I heard bizarre stories of a very few secondary schools in the area, with come bemoaning the absence of a State University.
I was also told gory stories of political violence, which stories emboldened me to conclude that this outgoing government’s commitment to free and fair elections as bold on paper weak in practice; high-sounding in words but hollow in deeds.
We intend to have more of these interactions in the rural areas and we will escalate them as we draw close to the imminent watershed moment.
On Sunday, before the rally at Nzvimbo in Chiweshe, Mashonaland central province, I first had a meeting with students from Bindura University.
Their complaints were the same from what I have heard from tertiary students across the country. These include, but are not limited to, issues to do with attachment fees, accommodation challenges, a short supply of recreational facilities, and lack of academic freedom and victimization of students.
I took the occasion to give them our vision to position Zimbabwe as a hub and champion of world-class education excellence through the provision of quality education.
I had highly enriching engagements with business people, farmers, and pensioners but particularly with survivor of political violence who included the Chironga family from Chaona in Chiweshe communal lands.
3. An inclusive process at national events
In our national council last Friday, the supreme decision-making body between Congresses resolved to move into new uncharted waters.
We formed this movement 19 years ago to complete the unfinished business of the liberation struggle and the national council resolved that henceforth, we will not allow ourselves to be second-class citizens in this country.
From now on, we will now be attending national events such as the national Independence Day, Heroes Day, Defence Forces day and other such national days.
The time has come for us to cast away the image of bastards in our own motherland. These are national days that should not be needlessly politicized by a single political party.
Elsewhere in the world, these are important days where partisan politics should never be allowed to take centre-stage. National days and national events should be attended by the entirety of a country’s leadership regardless of political affiliation.
As a leadership, we will be playing our part in carving out a new niche for our national politics and to give our despondent people a reason to hope again.
We are not bastards in this country but we are patriots.
We are a legitimate party represented in Parliament; a party running a sizeable number of our local authorities including the metropolitan provinces of Harare and Bulawayo.
So we are a patriotic national party that deserves its space on the high table where the people’s business is transacted and where we celebrate nodal achievements by the sons and daughters of this land.
From now on, we want am inclusive process in all national events.
See you at the national Independence Day celebrations.
4. The Easter Holidays: It is finished
This Easter, we are suspending all party programmes to allow the people of Zimbabwe to give veneration to the Almighty,
We are allowing the power of resurrection to grip both our souls and the nation.
Easter is the time to ruminate over those powerful words by Christ as death became imminent during his crucifixion.
In that dire moment, our beloved Christ ominously shouted “It is Finished” and for the people of Zimbabwe, these words have immense power and meaning.
As we prepare for this watershed plebiscite, we are under no illusion that come September, our suffering is finished.
Indeed, joblessness is finished.
Anguish and despondency are finished.
Hopelessness is finished. Zvapera!
The Lord we serve is a God of eternal goodness and mercy.
We need to change the heart of the nation. We need a heart of worship and praise.
The heart of nation needs to be filled up with love, peace, unity, selflessness and forgiveness.
Let us go this Easter and summon the power of the Cross; the immortal power of resurrection!
One Zimbabwe, one people.
One Zimbabwe, one future.
One Zimbabwe, one vision.
Behold the new.
God bless Zimbabwe.
God bless Africa

In a brief Facebook post on Tuesday morning, Mawarire declared that he will be contesting as City of Harare Councillor for ward 17 in Mount Pleasant.

Community Service For Murder Committed 18 Years Ago
By Paul Nyathi
Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Nokuthula Moyo has sentenced a Plumtree man to performs 320 hours of community service at Makhulela Clinic over a murder committed eighteen years ago.
Sokana Nkomo (57), a father of four residing at Butshe village in Madlambuzi area, fatally stabbed Gamula Ndlovu (33) for allegedly snatching his girlfriend in an incident which occurred on November 26 in 2000 at Butshe village.
The judge convicted Nkomo of a lesser charge of culpable homicide charge in connection with the death of Ndlovu when self defence was ruled.
In passing the sentence, Justice Moyo said although the deceased was the aggressor, Nkomo exceeded the bounds of self defence by introducing a knife during the fight.
“A life was lost in the most unfortunate circumstances. However, the deceased acted in an unbecoming manner by pushing the man on the edge. What can a man do when pushed violently? Although the courts don’t condone violence, the accused who was under attack, was bound to react as a human being,” said the judge.
She condemned Nkomo’s conduct, saying even provoked people should not take the law into their own hands.
“The courts have to instill confidence in society because if people lose faith in the justice system, they may end up taking the law into their own hands. Sending accused person to jail 18 years down the line for an offence in which the deceased was the aggressor would not be in the interest of justice,” ruled Justice Moyo.
Both Ndlovu and Nkomo had a love relationship with the same lady.
Mr Russell Dzete of Maseko Law Chambers represented Nkomo.
National Crisis, Mnangagwa Deploys Military Doctors

By Paul Nyathi| As the national crisis in the health sector continues to deteriorate with the doctors strike entering day twenty seven, government has finally deployed the army to take charge of the hospitals.
With the authorisation of the Commander In Chief President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo will today be the first to get army doctors taking over duties at the hospital.
In addition, 35 newly graduated junior doctors will join the institution by April 1.
Doctors downed tools on March 1 after petitioning the Government to resolve its issues which include provision of medication and equipment in public health institutions.
Mpilo clinical director, Dr Solwayo Ngwenya, yesterday said a number of doctors from the army would join the institution to help the few overwhelmed medical practitioners until the strike ends.
“We will be having members of the Army joining us from tomorrow just to ease the pressure on the few doctors that have been overwhelmed due to the ongoing strike. We are not yet sure about the numbers but I understand that public health institutions in the country will have members of the army to help,” said Dr Ngwenya.
“The Ministry of Health and Child Care has also allocated us 35 recently graduated junior resident medical officers from the National University of Science and Technology and the University of Zimbabwe that will join us from April 1. We are currently working on their applications and we are hopeful this measure will help us deliver quality health care services to members of the public,” he said.
Dr Ngwenya added that although the strike had presented challenges for the hospital, contingency measures had been put in place to continue saving lives while awaiting a solution.
Chamisa Says He Also Wants To Talk To Mnangagwa

By Paul Nyathi
Opposition MDC-T leader who is also the MDC Alliance Presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa says that he also wants to engage with President Emmerson Mnangagwa who has been touting for a meeting with the opposition young leader.
However, unlike Mnangagwa who wants to meet Chamisa on the road map to the make per break election for both leaders, the confident Chamisa wants to meet Mnangagwa on the modalities of the post election transitional arrangement.
Addressing party supporters at Nzvimbo Growth Point in Mashonaland Central Province over the weekend, Chamisa said he was going to approach President Emmerson Mnangagwa over the transitional issues.
“Some of you are asking how we are going to rule if we win since they say soldiers will not allow us into power, well I was just talking to Professor Welshman Ncube that we are going to talk to Emmerson Mnangagwa that we must have a Government Transitional Act, that clearly explains how transition is done so that we don’t use guesswork.
“A good example is Ghana, they have the Act that actually gives dates on when the election winner should assume office and not wait for the outgoing to determine the process, what if he refuses to go what will you do?
“If he refuses to step down what will you do, there is a comfort that comes with being in power, so we want to fix that and determine the days taken to hand over power to the winner and also set the crimes for those who would have refused to hand over power,” he said.
Chamisa added that the Act will also clearly state the role of soldiers, the police and CIOs during the transitional period to prevent confusion.
“…it is not the police that is being changed during the elections; soldiers are not the ones being changed what is being changed are the head of the state and his associates.
“The soldiers belong to the country, the police belong to the country, CIOs are for the country, Chiefs and Headmen are all for the country, what we are only seeking to do is to change the head, we want a better head,” he said.
Zimbabweans are engulfed in fears that the military will not accept a person with no military background or liberation war history to lead the country even if he or she wins the elections.
The fears were further worsened by some senior members in the military who publicly announced that they will not salute a leader who does not have Second Chimurenga credentials.
These statements and the coup that happened in November last year have cast doubt that the military will willingly hand over power to anyone who would have won the elections.
MDC Alliance has also put forward their 10 demands for a credible election. Previous elections since 2000 have been deemed as unfair as they were marred by political violence, vote buying, manipulation of electoral boundaries and abuse of state institutions by government among many others irregularities.
Since his inception on November 24 last year, President Mnangagwa has been consistent in promising a free and fair election, although nothing much has done in terms of reforms to support his promise.
Open Parly reports.
Khupe Hires Vapositori
By A Correspondent| The expelled former MDC Deputy President Thokozani Khupe has been exposed for smuggling in members of the Vapositori sect so to try to upstage MDC leader Nelson Chamisa.
On the day that she held her last anti Chamisa rally last week but one at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre, Khupe hired members of the vapositori, other religious groups from rural areas and the rest from civic groups. Western Region leader Jenni Williams at the time issued a loud call to disassociate her reputable group from Khupe’s ambitious meeting.
At the time, ZimEye contacted Khupe and her Secretary, Witness Dube said she does not want to talk to journalists because “she is not friendly to the media.” The full interview is in the ZimEye TV video repository.
Following that the local MDC-T office announced saying they “have been vindicated that Khupe had a rented crowd composed of apostles, civic society organizations, and dubious or bogus political parties.”
The Bulawayo provincial
Felix Mafa Sibanda told ZimEye, “these bogus political parties had tribal solidarity which is counteroffensive, counterproductive and retrogressive to say the least. Instead of uniting with other like minded political parties, Khupe has chosen to work with reactionaries.
“The irony is that Khupe is anti MDC Alliance but chose to work with ZANU PF and dubious and tribal groupings.
We as MDC T are calling our members to be steadfast and be peaceful and continue with registration as voters and adhere to the party constitution and all party resolutions.”
GRACE MUGABE LATEST: Properties All Damaged and Many Items Missing As Eviction Takes Full Swing
By Staff Reporter| After a long wait following a court verdict, former first lady Grace Mugabe was yesterday physically removed from properties she had occupied which belong to a Lebanese businessman, ZimEye can reveal.
ZimEye has it on firm authority that Mrs Mugabe, her son, and a police officer were “by ginya” banished from businessman, Jamal Ahmed’s houses yesterday.
Mr Ahmed told ZimEye last night, “I can today confirm that Grace was evicted from my properties.”
But ZimEye is told the properties are now in a very bad shape, a state of damage and many items are missing.
Mr Ahmed said, “the properties were all damaged and many items missing.
“The people that were living in all my properties were armed and main person was a gentleman from police by name of Fero. Finally there is justice in Zimbabwe,” he exclaimed.
Last year Grace Mugabe violated the businessman’s rights when she used her husband’s executive powers to seize the man’s properties. She also obtained a suspicious verdict from Justice George Chiweshe which gave her more powers to take the properties following a transaction involving a diamond ring which she had bought from the businessman.
ZimEye could not at the time of writing obtain measurable details on the state of damage reported. ZimEye could neither ascertain the next steps the man is now going to take.
