A Victoria Falls man has had successful surgery after he was attacked by an elephant which ripped his stomach open while he was admiring a baobab tree early last month.
Mr Obadiah Sithole has, however, been stuck at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo as he has no money to travel back to the resort town. Mr Sithole, from Chinotimba suburb, was discharged three weeks ago but is still at the hospital.
The 58-year-old Mr Sithole, who has no wife or children, said he did not notice the elephant which was behind a baobab tree.
“I was admiring a baobab tree and I did not notice that there was an elephant on the other side so it lifted me with its tusks and dropped me to the ground. The tusks ripped through my stomach; luckily it didn’t trample me,” he said.
After attacking him, the elephant went away.
Mr Sithole lost part of his intestines during the attack and surgeons had to stitch together what was left of them.
He was transferred from Victoria Falls to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment where he has recovered enough to go back home.
In an interview on his bedside, Mr Sithole appealed for assistance for bus fare.
“I need money to just go back to my home; I can pay it back if I find someone who is willing to give me. This is now my third week here since I was discharged and I am stuck,” he said.
The acting chief executive officer for the hospital, Mr Leonard Mabandi, said the institution has no funds to cater for people like Mr Sithole.
“It is unfortunate that we do not have an allocation for people like Sithole who will be stranded. The best we can do is to get him on an ambulance that will be coming from Victoria Falls with patients,” he said.
Mr Mabandi explained that years ago there were travel warrants that were given to people in Mr Sithole’s situation but they stopped issuing them out.
“Travel warrants assisted people like Sithole, he would just present it to any bus company and he would be taken to his home, then the Ministry of Transport would in turn pay the company but all that is gone now,” he said.
He also said society has lost its moral fabric as people now care for themselves and are not concerned about helping others.
He encouraged people to make follow-ups on their relatives who will have been admitted to health institutions so that when they have challenges they can be addressed.
The acting CEO said the burden of feeding the discharged patient was on the institution and it was affecting the operations of the hospital.
In another case at the same institution, a woman spent a month at the maternity section after she gave birth but failed to go home as she had no one to collect her.
A source within the maternity ward said she was detained until her relatives were contacted.
“She was discharged with her baby but we could not let her go as the rule states that a patient is allowed to go only when there is someone to collect her, she cannot go alone,” said the source.
She said the person collecting a person from maternity has to produce their national identity card and the details are recorded.
“You collect the patient when you have produced a valid ID because we are avoiding instances where babies are stolen so we keep records for reference sake so that when there is a challenge we have a starting point,” she said.
The acting CEO also concurred.
“We want to ensure the safety of the mother and the baby so we usually want the husband to the patient, a mother or close relative so that we know they are in safe hands. We cannot just let a patient go,” said Mr Mabande.SundayNews
Ministers Spreading STDs into Universities
Zimbabwean government ministers and politicians are spreading Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) among university students, the Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu) has said.
According to a research conducted by the student body together with Student Representative Councils (SRCs), government officials were doing little to lobby for the improvement of students’ welfare.
The two bodies said that the officials were preying on university students for cheap sex, as the country’s economy continues on a downward spiral.
At least 6 000 students acquired STIs in the just ended-academic calendar year, according to the two bodies.
“Government has an obligation to ensure that at least they provide for tertiary students,” said Zinasu secretary-general Makomborero Haruzivishe.
“Unfortunately, ministers and politicians are taking advantage of a system they do not want to capacitate.
“That is why we are seeing them taking advantage of vulnerable students.”
Haruzivishe said the upsurge in STIs at the country’s universities was a direct product of a collapsing economy.
Accommodation at tertiary institutions is limited, resulting in most students seeking exorbitant alternative lodgings thereby exposing themselves to exploitation.
“Most of these cases are arising because of poverty,” he said.
“Other parents were recently sacked, some of the parents of these students are teachers, they are not being paid, others are vendors and they cannot afford the high fees being charged at tertiary institutions.
“All this is leading to exploitation of students,” he said.
Whilst parents have been begging their children to bear with them and understand the hardships, some students have succumbed to pressure and are now engaging in prostitution in order to make ends meet.
Haruzivishe said according to their research, Masvingo Province had the highest number of students infected with STIs this year.
He said at one time, Masvingo Provincial Hospital opened a special department just to cater for students infected with STIs.
“In the mining town of Mashava, some students are having sex in exchange of accommodation.
“The government is not taking any action for these students to be properly housed and there is no provision for them to access food.”
Students canvassed by the Daily News yesterday disclosed that sex had become the medium of exchange for one to get a decent meal, free rides to school and free accommodation.
Surprisingly, male students also admitted engaging in homosexuality in exchange for money.
Zinasu president Alistair Pfunye said if government subsidised students’ fees, some of these social ills would be eradicated.
Students used to find reprieve in the government’s cadetship programme that paid school fees on condition that the students agreed to be bonded by the State for a stipulated period.
However, that programme has since been suspended.
“We are engaging government on ‘fees must fall’. This issue doesn’t affect an MDC student, a Zanu PF student or a Mavambo student, it affects all students,” he said.
“I am sending a message to all students. Comrades and friends, it’s high time we put away partisan cards and fight for student freedoms.
“We will engage government but if they fail to address the issue, students will make a stand.”DailyNews
Man Disabled By Live Electric Cable Sues ZESA $500K
A Harare man is demanding over $500 000 from the Zimbabwe Electricity and Transmission Distribution Company (ZETDC) after he was electrocuted and heavily injured by a live cable that left him permanently disabled.
The man, Munashe Magwaza, has since approached the High Court seeking $505 000 in damages from the Zesa Holdings’ subsidiary.
In his court papers, Magwaza who is represented by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights said that he was electrocuted after stepping on live electric cables in the Msasa industrial area on his way to work.
“The exposed live high voltage electricity cables had fallen to the ground and concealed by the grass.
“As a result of the electric shock, the plaintiff (Magwaza) sustained extensive injuries, including deep burns to the lower limbs and numerous deep burns to the chest,” Magwaza said.
The court heard that, “The plaintiff went through shock and excruciating pain as he was being electrocuted to an extent that he passed out for several hours.
“Thereafter, the plaintiff was hospitalised for nine months at Harare Central Hospital. Whilst in hospital, he was in pain and had to undergo major surgeries that include skin grafting.”
According to Magwaza, ZETDC acknowledged liability and in October 2012 paid $11 480 to him for special damages through Cell Insurance Company.
As a result of the serious injuries and disability of his limbs, Magwaza said he suffered the embarrassment of being left by his wife as he could no longer offer her conjugal rights.
“Plaintiff has suffered loss of amenities of life in that he can no longer have the blessing of any unclouded mind, healthy body, sound limbs and the ability to conduct unaided basic functions of life such as running, eating and dressing,” the court was told.
The court further heard that, “Before the shock, plaintiff was a fit person who used to work as a security guard and earning $350. He however, lost his employment whilst in hospital.”
“The defendants have ignored, neglected or simply refused to pay the general damages despite the first defendant (ZETDC)’s acceptance of liability on October 8, 2012. The distribution and transmission of electricity is the exclusive domain of the first defendant.”
Mujuru Dead – Mugabe
ZANU PF first secretary and President, Robert Mugabe says his former deputy Joyce Mujuru and her upcoming political outfit are politically dead way before their much heightened launch.
Mugabe said this responding to a “Pasi Ne People First” chant by thousands of party members at the on going ZANU PF conference in Victoria Falls on Friday afternoon.
“No don’t say pasi navo (down with them) because they are non existent,” said Mugabe.
The crowd was responding to Mugabe’s questioning of the motives of party members quitting the party to push for the formation of the new political party.
“We have only instructed everyone coming up the stage chanting slogans to say pasi neMDC because those are the only ones we know to exist not these day dreamers who will never come to reality,” said the President.
Through out his near two hour address, Mugabe deliberately avoided making any reference to his former deputy Mujuru to confirm his disregard of the proposed party.
President Mugabe’s deliberate ignoring of the party might not be genuine as he is quite aware that once Mujuru launches her party he will be exposed to yet another big challenge after the 2008 threat from the now fading MDC.
Mujuru’s proposed party is already gaining massive support from various sectors of the country. The party is drawing support from most former ZANU PF supporters and other opposition parties. A number of Civic Society Organisations and church organisations that previously backed the MDC are also beginning to show alliance to the yet to be launched party.
Mujuru who has kept calm and silent since she was dismissed from the ruling ZANU PF is believed to be obtaining guidance from a highly experienced and qualified Europe based team in building her party. The party which is holding several behind the scenes meetings has gathered a huge membership in the grassroots and leadership of other smaller opposition parties who are only waiting to declare they allegiance at the launch of the party.
The party is expected to be launched in Matabeleland South within the next few weeks.
Vendors Petition “Brutal”Mugabe
The Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Association (ZCIEA) has petitioned government over the continued criminalisation of vendors by state security agents.
The petition was drafted at the coalition of vendors and informal traders’ annual conference which was held this week in the capital.
ZCIEA President Loraine Sibanda said the petition was overdue adding that it was high time government transforms informal to the informal economy.
“It is in this vein that this conference seeks to find ways and means of placing and recognising the informal economy to its rightful place where the government and local authorities recognise and respect informal traders as legitimate economic players and not criminals,”she said.
“Are we asking for too much by saying informal traders are seeking to be afforded the necessary recognition through engagement with government and other stake holders, respect and appreciation of the work they do to sustain livelihoods?”
Informal traders at the conferences said a “radical” approach was imminent should the authorities continue to harass “us”.
“This is very possible if we unite as we have done today,” they vowed.
“We are saying enough is enough, they have harassed us enough. They have confiscated our wares and failed to account for them and the next step now is to take them head on”.
According to the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, the informal economy has outpaced formal employment and its now at 94.5%.
The labour movement says 98% of the country’s youths are in engaging in informal activities where 52% are partaking as informal traders.
Despite being the current pillar to economic survival informal traders continue to be harassed by local authorities and the state security.
In Harare and vendors and municipal police are ever on each other’s throat.

Chiyangwa Hits Hard Times, House to be Attached
Zifa president Phillip Chiyangwa is set to lose property from his Borrowdale mansion after the now-defunct Interfin Bank obtained a writ of execution against him to recover over $4 million in debts.
In a letter addressed to the Sheriff dated December 10, 2015, Interfin Bank’s lawyers, Sawyer & Mkushi, instructed the Sheriff to proceed with attachment of Chiyangwa’s property after paying attachment fees.
Part of the letter read: “We request you to attach and remove defendant’s property at the following address: 11 Crowhill Road, Borrowdale, Harare. Enclosed is the sum of $567 as per your request. Let us have your return of service once execution has been effected.”
Attached to the letter was also a writ of execution receipt showing fees paid by the lawyers in the sum of $97.
Last month, Chiyangwa and his businesses, Pinnacle Property Holding and Native Investment Africa, lost a case at the High Court and were ordered to pay the bank $4 060 110 after failing to defend the claim.
High Court judge Justice Lavender Makoni entered a default judgment against Chiyangwa after striking off the business mogul’s appearance to defend and his plea following an application by the bank’s lawyer, Antony Chagonda.
Justice Makoni ordered: “Whereupon after reading the documents filed of record and hearing counsel, it is ordered that: (1) 2nd defendant’s (Chiyangwa) appearance to defend and plea be and are hereby struck off. (2) Judgment with costs on a legal practitioner and client scale and collection commission provided for under the Law Society of Zimbabwe by-laws (1982) be and is hereby entered against 2nd defendant for payment of: (a) $2 000 000 being capital; and (b) $2 000 000 being interest.
“(c) $60 110 being bank charges and (d) interest on the sum of $4 000 000 at the penalty rate of 10% per annum over and above the rate of interest applicable to 1st defendant’s (Pinnacle Property Holdings) overdraft from time to time from the date of judgment to date of full payment.”
The bank claimed sometime in April 2011, it extended a credit facility of $2 million to Pinnacle Property Holdings and charged total interest of $2 million and bank charges of $60 110, thereby producing a total payable amount of $4 060 110.
The bank also sought an order compelling Chiyangwa to pay legal costs after having agreed with the bank to cover such costs in the event of him defaulting. – Newsday
Zanu PF, MDC Besiege Mujuru For Jobs
By Tinoonga Mawere, Masvingo | As former Vice President Joice Mujuru prepares to launch her party, politicians from across the political divide have begun secretly begging the People First for posts, it has emerged. Sources revealed to ZimEye.com former MDC supporters and Zanu PF supporters were desperately storming in to join Mujuru .
The former VP is viewed as the new presidential hopeful despite some analysts maintaining that the former VP has not been weaned from Mugabe’s whims .
According to sources in the party, Mujuru’s frontman in Masvingo Dzikamai Mavhaire has been inundated with calls from curious politicians keen to join the People First.Scores of former MDC members and current Zanu PFactivists have also been seen sneaking into Mavhaire’s farm near the city of Masvingo to hold secret meetings. Mujuru who also postoned her visit to the province is widely tipped to mount a serious challenge to President Robert Mugabe’s grip on power .
Zimbabweans who are desperate for change are hoping Mujuru can also end decades of suffering for the citizens of the economically troubled Southern African nation. ” There are many politicians who are keen to work with us and some of them have already met with Mavhaire .Our Leader(Mujuru) called off a meeting she wanted to address for strategic purposes but she will soon come to Masvingo for consultations ,” said a People First member.
There are indications Mujuru could take on either VP Emmerson Mnangagwa or First Lady Grace Mugabe in the 2018 presidential race since both are battling to replace the ailing Mugabe .
Unemployed? Go And Sell Airtime – Mugabe tells Zim
Staff Reporter | President Robert Mugabe has acknowledged the country’s massive unemployment rate and mourned the future of the thousands of Zimbabwean university graduates who graduate from the state universities every year.
Addressing the five thousand ZANU PF delegates attending the party’s 15th National Conference in Victoria Falls today, the President said he was worried about the unemployment rate in the country and urged people graduating from the state universities in the country not to sit back and expect employment but join the informal sector and start small businesses.
“I have been capping thousands of graduates at the universities around the country and I look at them and say where to from here,” said the president.
He urged the colleges and universities to start teaching courses that will allow the graduates to be immediate business people and not seek employment.
“We must adopt education which will make our graduates ready to be employers not employees,” he said.
“Those who have already graduated must start thinking of engaging in programmes that will give them income instead of going out to search for employment. Yes, we can absorb a few here and there but the rest must engage in other income generating projects in the small business sector.”
The President’s statement comes shortly after his party won an election in which the party manifesto promised the nation 2.2 million jobs if elected to government. Contrary to the election manifesto, the two years since the last election has seen the largest number of company closures, retrenchments and increase in the unemployment level than ever in the country.
Most of Zimbabwe’s university graduates are failing to get employment matching their qualifications and are either employed as teachers or roaming the streets as vendors some as low as airtime vendors. Neighbouring countries are also awash with highly qualified Zimbabweans doing menial jobs such as waiters and security guards for survival.
Church Prophet Impregnates Teenager, Claims He Used Condom in Act
By Tinoonga Mawere, Chivhu | A church prophet who impregnated a teenager after raping her has denied the accusations claiming he used condoms in the act.
Greater Life Ministries founder Takura Gadzikwa told Chivhu regional magistrate Solomon Jenya last week he was in love with the 19 year old girl and there was consent in the act since he used condoms.
Gadzikwa (31) claimed he was in love with the teenager and further said he wore two condoms during the intercourse to avoid pregrancy on several occasions. However the teenager who resides in Highfields Harare insisted she was raped once and fell pregnant. Gadzikwa also claimed he used the withdrawal method to avoid pregnancy.
According to court records Gadzikwa allegedly drove his car together with the complainant some time in July along the Harare Masvingo highway. He suddenly turned into the Caroline Wilderness farm between Harare and Chivhu. He allegedly fondled the teenager’s private parts and raped her once.
He ordered the teenager not to tell anyone.
However the teenager’s sister said Gadzikwa attempted to bribe the girl’s relatives with money.
There has been a sad trend of women and girls being raped by individuals who call themselves prophets. Due to the harsh living conditions in the country, women have fallen into the trap of bogus prophets, some of them who demand to sleep with women as an act of driving away bad omen.
Sex Headmaster Charges:Hartzell Head Suspended
HARTZELL High School headmaster – Shorwi Kawadza – has been suspended from duty to pave way for investigations into allegations that he sexually abused an orphaned pupil at the school, it has emerged.
Manicaland provincial education director, Mr Edward Shumba, revealed on Wednesday that a probe team from his office will work on the case starting Monday.
“We have suspended Mr Kawadza pending investigations into the sexual abuse case at the school. The purpose of the probe is to see whether he has a case to answer or not and we shall inform you as soon as the team completes its task. The outcome of that probe will determine the disciplinary course we will take.
“I gave instructions last Friday that he be suspended and I was told that he was informed of the position on Tuesday,” said Mr Shumba.
The case took a new twist last week after Kawadza was arrested by the police amid revelations that he was the one who abused the minor but hatched a plan to defeat the course of justice by having senior teacher William Mukwindidza as the accused.
Since the case began Mukwindidza was suspected of sexually abusing the minor and infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease.
However, it later emerged that Mukwindidza was a victim of circumstances as Kawadza (57), allegedly working in cahoots with orphanage staffer Cecilia Thobani (49), derailed investigations in a desperate effort to falsely have Mukwindidza nailed. Information with the police show that on September 23 this year, a case of sexual abuse was reported. It was said to have happened between January and April 2015 and Mukwindidza was named the suspect.
However, on November 24, the police got a tip off that the minor in question had a sexual relationship with the headmaster. Further investigations by the police revealed also authenticated that the headmaster was bedding the minor.
Police discovered that Kawadza influenced the child to accuse Mukwindidza by giving the orphan $40 to name the Mathematics teacher as the perpetrator of the sexual abuse.
The case is pending at the courts. manica post

I Secretly Told Gadhafi to Quit Libya – Blair
By AP – TONY BLAIR telephoned Moammar Gadhafi and tried to persuade him to leave Libya as the Arab Spring erupted in February 2011, the former British prime minister revealed Friday.
Blair said he was not trying to “save” the Libyan dictator but “to get him out of the situation so that a peaceful transition could take place.”
Blair said he’d acted as a private individual and spoke to Gadhafi “two or three” times over a 24-hour period. He said it soon became clear Gadhafi would not leave.
Blair, prime minister from 1997 to 2007, was instrumental in ending Gadhafi’s international isolation in return for Libya abandoning its nuclear and chemical arms programs. He has faced criticism for his rapprochement efforts with the oil-rich state, which included a 2004 meeting in Gadhafi’s desert tent.
Under Prime Minister David Cameron, the U.K. participated in a NATO-led 2011 military intervention that led to Gadhafi’s ouster and his death at the hands of rebel fighters.
Libya has since descended into chaos, with rival militias battling for control and extremists linked to the Islamic State group gaining strength.
Blair told Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee that without the earlier deal with Gadhafi there was a risk IS in Libya would now have access to chemical weapons.
“If we had still had the residue of that chemical weapons program in Libya today, given the state of Libya today and given the presence of ISIS there — it would have constituted a real risk, even today,” he said.
Blair — whose decision to join the 2003 invasion of Iraq remains deeply unpopular in Britain — would not criticize Cameron for intervening in Libya, despite the messy outcome.
He said it would not necessarily have been better if “Gadhafi tried to cling on to power and others tried to remove him.”
“You can look at Syria today where we didn’t intervene, by the way, and say that is even worse,” Blair said.-AP
“Of Mega Deals and Mega Poverty”
By Prof Welshman Ncube
As leader of a political party which is working tirelessly to win the confidence of the people of Zimbabwe, I have substantive interest in anxieties and expectations emanating from the litany of unfulfilled electoral promises made to citizens by the ruling party. Political parties win elections because of promises they make to people, but more often than not, when a political party has been conditioned to misrepresentation, such promises become habitual. This is why this week I want to refer to so-called ‘mega deals’ that has become a buzzword around the recent visit by Chinese leader Xi Jinping to Zimbabwe.
For many years, as near as 2013, the ruling party has been promising Zimbabweans that their lives are about to be changed by the influx, or rather a flurry of business and trade agreements that the ZANU PF government signs with Chinese. We have been fed on a diet of perpetual hope and expectation that each time the president and his political entourage ‘look East’, we should expect a deluge of money and equipment pouring into all manner of sectors. This is why citizens were promised two million jobs, excess electricity, all weather roads and clean portable water – thanks to electoral rhetoric – we are yet to experience the results.
Like you, I have nothing personal against Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s visit to Zimbabwe last week who was en route to the Forum for China-Africa Co-operation in Johannesburg. The manner of celebration by Zimbabwe’s government media would have made the least interested person suspicious. They have reason to. According to a September 2014 thesis entitled “Chinese Investments in Zimbabwe and Namibia: A Comparative Legal Analysis” by Clever Mapaure of the Centre for Chinese Study, University of Stellenbosch, done under the “Phandulwazi nge China” program, Chinese investments in Namibia have also “received negative reactions from both government officials and the general public.”
I have no doubt in my mind that the Zimbabwean leader ‘signed’ something. By the end of 2013, we were told that Chinese investment was already exceeding four billion United States dollars. By the time Xi Jinping left for South Africa last week, the Herald had listed ‘deals’ worth three billion United States dollars covering such investments as: cement factory in Mberengwa, Gwayi energy and water projects, Gwayi-Shangani dam, Kariba South power plant expansion, Hwange thermal plant expansion, NetOne infrastructure expansion, thermal station in Sibugwe, Binga, dualisation of our major export/imports roads, Alaska-Sherwood transmission line and a cement factory in Beitbridge. Had these deals a shade of realism, it would have triggered a stampede by the Diaspora back home to take up well-paying posts!
Mapaure opined: “The trade volume between China and Zimbabwe in 2002 was U$ 191 million. By 2010 the trade volume had reached U$ 560 million with China’s investment covering agriculture, tourism and mining.” He then talks about exactly why we have to remain skeptical up these mega deals. First, there is nobody who has specific details on how much mineral endowment our country has. We know from the Chiadzwa debacle that Chinese company Anjin, with the complicity of Zimbabwe Defence Forces, plundered billions worth of diamonds without accounting for a cent in our national treasury. I was in government and we still struggled to pay civil servants. Therefore, when we are told the President signed a deal, it is almost impossible to know how a poor family in Tongogara Village, Shurugwi, benefits.
Second, there is the danger of what we call ‘securitisation of resources’ Says Mapaure: “In 2009 China paid US$ 3 billion for exclusive access to Zimbabwe’s extensive platinum rights, a contract estimated to be worth US$ 40 billion (Smith, 2011).” If you consider that we export half a billion dollars worth of ‘raw’ tobacco to China every year, you can see why I am worried. We are exporting raw materials instead of products. China is interested in the extractive aspects of business, not manufacturing. Mortgaging our platinum to the Chinese who do not even hope to establish a smelting plant is economic suicide.
Of course, one may argue that such deals create employment, but questions abound: how much of it? What skills are transferred? What benefits in pensions, insurance, medical aid, taxes and education scholarships to dependants of employees? To what extent do these Chinese companies respect our labour laws? One local newspaper once wrote: “Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Company (AFECC) which is involved mainly in construction … In June 2010, construction workers at a Military College which AFECC was building, went on strike over low pay (US$ 4 per day), alleging regular beatings by their managers.”
Since 2009, thousands of graduates have been offloaded into the streets and thousands of unskilled young people roam the streets or escape to South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. This dry season, more than two million villagers will require food aid, meaning, they have no disposable incomes to buy their own food despite Chinese mega deals.
Declaring big figures as a trading partner with China only widens the trade deficit, more goods imported and no export-based value addition. If China has four hundred million smokers, why are we exporting tobacco instead of cigarettes to China? For many years, Chinese companies have been ‘involved’ in power production at Hwange and Kariba, but Zimbabwe is going through the most pervasively savage power outages since independence. Minister for Finance, Patrick Chinamasa, brags how “We already have more than 100 Chinese companies who have invested in Zimbabwe and there is a lot of interest in all sectors of the economy”. Interest that does not translate to jobs, disposable incomes, improved quality of life is merely… interest.
Do not misunderstand the tone of my opinion. Foreign Direct Investment is important for Zimbabwe. However, it must come with technology, skills transfer and innovation. It must create sustainable local jobs and use local resources for beneficiation. If the Chinese invest four billion dollars in Zimbabwe, we want to see a dramatic improvement in the employment, infrastructure and energy situation. Chinese investment that brings labour and machinery only to remain entrenched in extractive psyche is a liability to our country.
Our experience with Anjin diamond mine is that it is only a few privileged elites with close ZANU PF ties that benefit from mega deals. The unemployed graduate in Lobengula West, Dangamvura and Chipinge will continue to wallow in his misery as long as such investments do not translate to enabling factors of production.
Mugabe Humiliated, Reads Wrong Speech Again
Victoria Falls- Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has once again read out a wrong speech.
The incident ongoing (at the time of writing) occurred during his party’s annual conference in the resort town.
This is the second time the Head of State has blundered before the cameras and comes after he this year read a wrong state-of-the-nation address at the end of August when he was heckled by MPs.
His spokesman back then defended him telling ZimEye.com the error was because of a mix-up in the president’s secretarial office.
But this time Mr Mugabe caused jaws to break suddenly when he fumbled again retreating from his prepared speech right before the crowd.
As he opened the speech, he read it saying “I welcome you all to this … National Conference Central Committee meeting of our 15th conference then said, “ahhhhhh this is wrong.” He then instantaneously looked aside, and while fidgiting, tried to read again. He then repeatedly read out the very same content, shortly before quitting and soon started speaking off his head.
At the time of writing he had begun tackling it again although his address was now disjointed.
He ended up speaking for over (2) two hours while playing damage control in the mishap.

War Vets Block Grace Mugabe from Presidency | BREAKING NEWS
By Henry L Ncube| WAR Veterans have moved to block Grace Mugabe from succeeding her aging husband President Robert Mugabe as both the Zanu PF and country’s President.
A faction called G-40 which comprises Mugabe’s nephews Philip Chiyangwa and Patrick Zhuwao, Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Jonathan Moyo, Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere had been calling for Grace to be the President.
They were fighting against the party’s constitution which says the first vice President automatically occupies the office of the President should Mugabe die anytime before the holding of national elections.
But liberation war fighters attending the party’s annual conference in Victoria Falls yesterday made it clear that Grace, should remain where she is up “to 2018 and beyond”, suggesting they would not back her as party leader.
Grace is the party’s Women’s League boss.
Japhet Phuti, the ZNLWVA(Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association) secretary said the party’s constitution should be amended and accommodate a female in the Presidium and urged that the female should be Ndebele, a clause that pushes Mrs Mugabe out of the picture.
“We also support the women’s league statement, that women should have a quota in the presidium and be maintained on rotational basis and now should go to Ex-ZAPU/ZIPRA members,” said Phuthi.

A man who returned home to find his wife naked on top another man, stabbed her before hanging himself in a nearby cemetery.
Farai Machokoto (37) from Silobela, acted on a tip-off and caught his wife Natasha Machokoto (28) sitting on top of her lover on Thursday last week.
He confronted them but the boyfriend Dakawira Moyo took to his heels. Natasha was then stabbed and left for dead.
Farai hatched a plan after he got wind that his wife was playing away. He phoned her, telling her that he would come after a week from in Bulawayo. But he came on the same day.
“He caught her sitting on top of him while they kissed each other. That did not go down well with Farai who then took out an Okapi knife, tried to stab Moyo who ran away. But his wife couldn’t run so he stabbed her twice on the shoulder, once on the hip and she collapsed,” said the source. He thought she was dead.
Chief Malisa confirmed the incident. “I can confirm that I received a report that one of my subjects from Leke village caught his wife kissing her lover.
After that he stabbed her and went on to hang himself at the gravesite,” he said.
Contacted for a comment Natasha denied the allegations and said the late was always hinting that he would hang himself and finally he did.
“He was so jealous and got so angry after finding me discussing with a male churchmate at our homestead. He then accused me of cheating on him after that he said he wanted to end my life and he stabbed me several times on the body and I collapsed. He left and hanged himself at the gravesite,” she said.-State Media
Doctor Rapes Hospital Nurse
A bogus doctor reportedly raped a student nurse at Harare Central Hospital and a nurse from a private hospital after he promised to offer them jobs at his surgery, the court heard yesterday. Lawrence Kutoka (38) of 231 Harling Way, Waterfalls in Harare, was not asked to plead to two counts of rape yesterday before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Ms Estere Chivasa.
Kutoka was remanded in custody to December 21. Ms Chivasa asked him to seek bail at the High Court. The prosecutor Mr Tendai Mukariri told the court that on November 5 and at around 12pm, Kutoka met his first victim, a nurse (20) employed at a private hospital.
She was on her way to Eastlea to collect her salary. Kutoka allegedly introduced himself as a doctor who had opened a new surgery and wanted nurse aides. He allegedly asked for her curriculum vitae to offer her employment and she promised to hand it later by the day.
Kutoka allegedly asked for her cellphone number and was given. He allegedly called her at around 6pm and they met in town where he was handed the CV. Kutoka allegedly invited her into his vehicle promising to take her home to Highfield and she complied.
Instead of heading to Highfield, Kutoka allegedly drove towards Chitungwiza claiming he wanted to collect “something”. It is alleged that he drove his car until they reached some shops in Marondera. He allegedly locked the complainant inside and stepped out of the vehicle pretending to collect some incubators to use in his surgery.
However, he later came asking if the complainant had money and snatched her handbag with $350. He allegedly drove for a short distance and stopped claiming that his vehicle had developed a problem. Further allegations are that he moved closer to the complainant claiming it was cold and wanted them to share body heat.
Kutoka allegedly told her that she looked HIV positive judging from her slim body and that he wanted to carry some tests. He inserted his fingers into her privates, fondling her in the process and later raped her without protection. After the act, he told the complainant that she was now his second wife.
On the following day, at around 5am, Kutoka was asleep when the woman sneaked out of the car and headed to the main road where she hitch-hiked to Harare. She reported the matter to the police. On the second count, on November 9, Kutoka allegedly met the student nurse at Harare Central Hospital and he introduced himself as Dr Madiro.
It is alleged that he used the same trick to lure her to Chitungwiza where he raped her. The matter was reported to the police leading to his arrest.-State Media
“The Devil” Brewed Gweru Boy to Kill Own Mother
The recent murder of a Gweru woman allegedly by her teenage son has left relatives and residents of this otherwise peaceful city shocked. Although close relatives and neighbours were well aware that Kudakwashe Ashley Sibanda (19) always gave her mother trouble, they never thought he could be so heartless. Kudakwashe allegedly stabbed his mother Babra Sibanda seven times on the left side of the chest, killing her on the spot and locked the body inside the house.
He is accused of stealing his mother’s Nissan Bluebird and proceeded to Total garage in the city where he made attendants fill the tank and drove off without paying. Kudakwashe went for joyrides with prostitutes on a three-day drinking spree.
When news of the murder began spreading, he fled to Harare where, on his way, he ran over a pedestrian at Norton and killed him. Kudakwashe now faces three counts — murder, culpable homicide and theft.
His actions have left his friends and relatives with unanswered questions and Gweru residents dumbfounded. According to relatives interviewed by The Herald, Kudakwashe always gave his mother a torrid time. “This was bound to happen one of the days because we knew Kudakwashe as a spoilt brat,” said a relative who refused to be named.
“His mother loved him so much and would give him everything he wanted. “He was a mama’s boy and she gave him special treatment.” People close to the family said problems started when Kudakwashe was expelled from Thornhill High School for stealing a vehicle that belonged to his teacher.
He was also in the habit of stealing from fellow pupils. Kudakwashe would steal money from his mother and demanded huge sums of money from her. His sister, Audrey Nyaradzo Sibanda, would sometimes send him money so that he would not bother their mother.
Before the murder, Kudakwashe had been arrested for stealing $900 from a tenant before he stole the tenant’s car and went for a beer binge with friends. For his actions, Kudakwashe was convicted and sentenced to performing community service at Lundi Primary School.
He once stole $100 from school authorities at Thornhill and his mother had to restitute the school to save him from going to prison, as the case would have attracted a custodial sentence as a repeat offender. Kudakwashe’s friends said he was addicted to beer at a tender age and was also into drugs.
There was chaos at Mrs Sibanda’s funeral wake as Kudakwashe’s siblings, McDonald and Audrey, quarrelled with their uncle who was demanding 10 beasts as compensation for the murder.
The heated argument opened the Pandora’s box, as it emerged that Kudakwashe was a half brother to his three other siblings Munyaradzi, Mcdonald and Audrey.
It was divulged during the no holds barred verbal war that Mrs Sibanda allegedly cheated on her late husband and football legend Willie Sibanda and had Kudakwashe with her unknown lover.
“Audrey openly told their uncle who was demanding compensation from her and her brothers that Kudakwashe was not of their blood and they could not be held responsible for his actions,” said a relative. Munyaradzi, Audrey and McDonald looked distraught during the funeral wake.
McDonald barred other people from taking food to Kudakwashe in prison. When asked about his opinion on the murder he said: “I don’t think this is the right time to discuss such issues. I think we will have to find another day to discuss this”.
Audrey shared the same sentiments. “As a family, we are still failing to come to grips with the untimely death of our mother,” she said. “We might release a statement later as a family, but for now we are grieving and we might not be at liberty to give you any information.”
Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe executive moderator Bishop Johannes Ndanga attributed Kudakwashe’s behaviour to evil spirits, culture erosion and westernisation. “The bible says honour thy father and thy mother and this is the fourth commandment,” he said.
“What this young man did shows that he was being used by the devil. This might also be the effects of violent films that young people are obsessed with. Our culture and religion have been eroded. “However, God says we should always forgive and the relatives must learn to forgive the child because this will also help in his rehabilitation.” State Media
Grace Mugabe Raids ZIMRA For Donations
By Tinoonga Mawere -Masvingo | First Lady Grace Mugabe has personally been raiding goods impounded by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), converting them into donations ZimEye.com has learnt.
Mrs Mugabe has been reportedly sending trucks to ferry goods from ZIMRA warehouses across the country and then present the products as personal donations.ZIMRA impounds such goods from traders who fail to pay duty for the imported products among other regulations .Such goods include soap, salt ,sugar and cooking oil.
Grace’s fake donations have resulted in the death of at least 11 people who were fatally crushed as thousands of hungry villagers jostled for the freebies.
Sources in the parastatal told ZimEye.com Mrs Mugabe has been frequently raiding the government run institution to grab the impounded goods -taking them to her controversial meet the people rallies.
“We have received numerous instructions to surrender the impounded goods to Mrs Mugabe. Her aides also ferried truck loads of the products and these are the same goods that are donated in front of ZBC cameras. We usually auction such goods but the story has been different .The goods are not donations as such because they are in actual fact impounded products,”claimed a ZIMRA official who chose to remain anonymous.
Grace Mugabe has been dishing out such goods while jilting her perceived political rivals in and out of Zanu PF.
The latest claims have yet again exposed the First Lady’s antics of presenting herself as a benevolent figure while in actual fact she has been raiding the ZIMRA warehouses, according to sources at the parastatal.
Mrs Mugabe has however won praises for her so called philanthropic work while political analysts say she merely used the fake donations to advance her presidential ambitions
Bloody Attack: ZRP Dragged to Court
A Harare man, who claims that he was unlawfully arrested, assaulted and detained by cops has filed a $30 000 lawsuit against the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
In the papers filed at the High Court, Mercedes Nyamande, is demanding $10 000 for the alleged unlawful arrest and detention, $15 000 for assault and $5 000 damages for contumelia.
In the application Nyamande cites Home Affairs minister Ignatius Chombo, commissioner-general of police Augustine Chihuri, police officers identified as Godfrey Masvimbo, Charuma and Zinyama as respondents.
Nyamande, who is represented by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, told the court that he was taken from his Glen Norah residence in February last year by Masvimbo, Charuma and Zinyama to assist with investigations of stolen gas bottles.
“Upon arriving at the Harare Central Police Station, the plaintiff (Nyamande) was shocked when the third defendant (Charuma) started to heavily assault him with open hands and clenched fists trying to force a confession from him to admit to having stolen the alleged gas bottles,” Nyamande said.
“In an act that is inhumane and disrespectful to his inherent dignity and an act that is inconsistent with Section 50 (1) (c) of the Constitution, the third defendant handcuffed the plaintiff’s hands and forced his left leg on top of the handcuffed hands and he continued with the assaults and intensified the attack on the defenceless plaintiff by striking him several times with a thick wooden log and electricity cables all over the body.”
Nyamande said that due to the assault, he sustained deep lacerations and he bled profusely to such an extent that he almost passed out.
He further claims that after the assault, he was medically-examined at Harare Hospital and a medica l doctor concluded that he sustained severe injuries.
“Despite the serious injuries suffered by the plaintiff, the third, fourth and fifth defendants without a lawful reason yet again detained the plaintiff in violation of his constitutional right…was also denied a phone call to call his relatives or spouse to notify them of the arrest and he was further denied medical treatment despite having made a request.
He was only released the following morning without receiving any formal charge.
Nyamande says he has already filed criminal charges against the police officers. DailyNews/Agencies

Heavily armed municipal police officers nearing 150 were seen destroying the buildings Thursday afternoon.
Combined Harare Residents Association has condemned the move saying it is illegal.
“The rate at which high glen demolitions are progressing, we estimate that at least 200 houses could be brought down by end of day if council does not stop”.

Civil Servants Bonuses: Govt Hits Dead End, Crashes Down
- Army Captain (retd) Albert Matapo speaks
- A very dangerous situation
Zimbabwe’s cash-strapped government has hit a dead-end on the issue of civil servants’ bonuses prompting a very dangerous situation in which the army may revolt.
Army captain (retd) Albert Matapo told ZimEye.com his view that the army after being lied to can easily revolt.
The government is currently scouting for alternative funding to the tune of nearly US$250 million to pay civil servants bonuses, as Treasury wrestles with other unbudgeted-for expenditures critical to avert a humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile sources said government was in a desperate move, attempting to raid cash generating institutions like the Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) for bonus cash but these institutions were equally cash-strapped.
In any case, said one source, ZINARA had already been supporting government in meeting its monthly salary obligations.
Government’s mounting bonus woes come against the backdrop of a potentially unprecedented food insecurity situation in the country next year due to a poor rainfall season.
This has equally seized President Robert Mugabe’s administration, which is holding its annual indaba in Victoria Falls.
The ruling ZANU-PF party has said the annual conference is about “improving the quality of lives of our people”.
While government has been lucky to get support from international agencies, through the World Food Programme, in mobilising resources for food support to starving communities, it has been unlucky in finding partners to bail it out on its fiscal obligations.
Despite the presence of external partners in supporting its humanitarian causes, government will still be required to show its commitment to its people by availing budgetary support to humanitarian efforts.
Sources indicated that there were ominous signs government’s capacity to fund the bonuses had reached breaking point after failure to pay the bonuses to its priority servants, the armed forces, by November as earlier planned.
Other civil servants were expected to get their bonus payments this month.
Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa, who was not answering calls to his mobile phone, was said to be scrambling “for a resolution of the crisis,” according to one source familiar with developments.
One source indicated that although payslips for soldiers had this month reflected the bonus payments, these were not funded and therefore unavailable in their bank accounts.
The current budget had already been buffeted by carryover obligations from last year, which Chinamasa failed to fund last year due to tightening fiscal pressure.
The carryover expenditures accommodating in this year’s budget related to 2014 bonus payments and other employment related obligations amounting to US$165 million.
Chinamasa said during his budget presentation last month that these “could not be fully met during the 2014 financial year, on account of cash flow constrains”.
Bonus payments for last year trickled into March 2015, with some civil servants having been paid only after threatening to embark on industrial action.
“There is a greater likelihood we are going to fund bonuses from next year’s budget,” one source said, warning, however, that next year’s budget faced “unprecedented pressures building over the past three years”.
Chinamasa has already warned that the 2016 national budget will be under intense pressure “primarily stemming from global developments related to commodity prices and demand, adverse weather conditions, fiscal challenges, as well as institutional weaknesses” (Daily News/Additional Reporting)
Mnangagwa Booted Out | ANALYSIS
Mnangagwa booted out | Staff Reporter | Vice President and Presidential hopeful Emerson Mnangagwa is as good as booted out of his current position and consequently out of the presidential race in the ZANU PF following recommendations smuggled to the ZANU PF conference by party bigwigs.
The party youth and women’s leagues have tabled recommendations to the national conference demanding that the party returns to a previous quota system which reserves one of the Vice Presidents to a woman. Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo confirmed the development after a Central Committee meeting in Harare yesterday while announcing recommendations made to the party by the provinces and party wings.
Khaya Moyo said the were resolutions made by all the provinces would be presented at the party’s 15th Annual National People’s Conference in Victoria Falls.
“All the provinces supported the President and First Secretary of the Party as the sole candidate for the position of President and First Secretary of the party and the country at the 2018 elections and beyond,” he said.
“This was the position from all the provinces. It was unanimous. The Women’s League has gone further through resolutions that were read by the National Political Commissar (Saviour Kasukuwere) that they continue to support the First Lady as secretary for the Women’s League for the current term and beyond.
“They also resolved that there was need for gender parity where they want the Zanu-PF Constitution to be aligned with the national Constitution where it says there must be 50-50 representation in all positions.
“The women also resolved that they want the party Constitution to be amended and reinstate the previous position that one of the Vice Presidents must be a woman.”
With the 1987 Unity Accord agreements still in place that one of the Vice Presidents must be from the former PF ZAPU structures, it is imperative that Mnangagwa will have to make way for the female Vice President.
The quota system making room for women was expediently discarded late last year as former Vice President Joyce Mujuru was being hounded out of the party on untested allegations of plotting to oust and kill Mugabe.
The reintroduction of the concept is a clear move to try and eliminate Mnangagwa by a faction in the fights to find President Robert Mugabe’s successor.
Zanu PF’s ambitious Young Turks, commonly referred to as the Generation 40 (G40), are said to be backing the First Lady in the war to succeed her increasingly-frail husband, and not Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Zuma Fires “Simba Makoni” Nhlanhla Nene
President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday made a shocking move by removing Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene from his job.
The development similar to when Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe fired former Finance Minister Simba Makoni, comes after Nene was rumoured to have refused to purchase a new private jet for the President.
“I have decided to remove Mr Nhlanhla Nene as Minister of Finance, ahead of his deployment to another strategic position,” the president said in a statement on Wednesday evening.
Zuma said Nene — South Africa’s first black finance minister — would be replaced by David van Rooyen, the whip of Parliament’s standing committee on finance, who also serves as whip of the economic transformation cluster.
“Mr Nene has done well since his appointment as minister of finance during a difficult economic climate. Mr Nene enjoys a lot of respect in the sector locally and abroad, having also served as a deputy minister of finance previously,” Zuma added.
Nene was appointed as Finance Minister in May last year and succeeded Pravin Gordhan.
South Africa’s investment grade credit rating is under serious threat after a downgrade last Friday and it could struggle to fund crucial infrastructure projects and help put the economy on a more robust growth path.
On Friday, Fitch ratings agency downgraded the rating of Africa’s most industrialised economy by one notch to BBB-, the lowest investment grade category. It cited the slowing economy and rising debt.
Standard & Poor’s kept its own rating at BBB- but lowered the outlook to negative from stable, saying it believed economic growth might be lower than the 1.5 percent forecast by government.
The downgrade is expected to see government struggle to raise funding for critical infrastructure projects, including electricity utility Eskom’s build programme.
Grace Mugabe Death toll Rises to 11 People Killed
– Secret burials. No post-mortems carried out.
– An additional five people killed
– False number of truck donations
– Raising people’s emotions “before they are suddenly killed.”
The death toll from First Lady Grace Mugabe’s rallies in right weeks has risen to (11) eleven people.
The unreported figure comes as the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), and the State Media suppressed the publishing of the shocking statistics.
Sources told ZimEye.com this week there was a deadly stampede at Grace’s rally in Mberengwa that left an additional five people dead while (50) others were left severely injured. That number is in addition to (6) six other fatalities, (3) three at Chimanimani on the 8th October, and an additional 3) three at Gutu, Masvingo on Friday last week.
In the Gutu case, police officers were seen in public ordering people to ensure no public or media report was made.” The people were just given village burials and they were as a consequence all secret burials and no single post mortem was carried out”, a source told ZimEye.com.
Of the five killed at Mberengwa, one (1) was a school going child and four (4) were adults.
Grace Mugabe is also accused of deliberately causing the deaths by making exalted claims of philanthropy raising people’s emotions and hopes all to their detriment. A source in the newsroom analysed saying “while in Mberengwa she said she had brought with her 350 tonnes of maize an amount of grain which can only be transported by 12 trucks with a tonnage of 30 tonnes each.
“She also added that she brought 130 tonnes of rice equal to four (4) trucks’ carriage, 8 000 litters of cooking oil 660 boxes of 2litre bottles; that is another truck. ”
The total number of trucks would then be 17 30 tonne trucks according to her speech but the number of trucks that were present at the rally was six (6). Many died rushing for this and the rural community also clapped their hands applauding something which was not even available,” they said.
What has furthermore been a cause for concern is the manner in which Mrs Mugabe has repeated the same method of disbursing the donations. The Crowd-Storming method is blamed for the systematic disaster. “If she had allowed post mortem work after each incident, coroners would have forwarded their professional input to prevent future incidents taking place”, analyst David Mumba said yesterday.
Contacted for comment, Presidential spokesman George Charamba maintained his refusal to speak saying the First Lady’s rallies are not government business and he only comments on state matters.
Teacher’s Wife Sells Mbanje to SchoolKids
By Tinoonga Mawera, Bikita | A daring wife of a local teacher here was caught selling mbanje to school pupils in a desperate move to beat the crunch living conditions in the country.
Elizabeth Takavingofa wife of a teacher at Boora Primary School , appeared before magistrate Caroline Tafira facing charges of selling the dangerous drug to school pupils. Takavingofa sold mbanje to pupils from Masekayi High School near the primary school -realising astronomical profits in the process.
The high school head reportedly noticed sinister behaviour among the pupils and discovered they were under the influence of the drug .
When the matter was reported to the police one student was found with a twist of dagga and he was interrogated by the cops and revealed that he bought the drug from a woman at Boora Primary School.
The police searched Takavingofa ‘s house and discovered 400 grammes of dagga .After further investigations ,it was discovered pupils from neighbouring schools would sneak to her house on numerous occasions to buy dagga . Takavingofa was slapped with an eight month jail sentence.
Takavingofa ‘s neighbours at the school said she started selling the drug claiming she was doing so to make up for the government ‘s procrastination in paying civil servants’ bonuses .
Thousands of people have been forced to engage in illicit activities in a desperate bid to combat poverty .
The local community also expressed disappointment at Takavingofa’s manoeuvres adding such behaviour was anti-social.
In Zimbabwe civil servants have been virtually reduced to beggars. With reports the government intends to further slash salaries -their plight could be worsened.
Grace Expulsions Hit 3 More Bigwigs
ZANU-PF yesterday expelled three more officials, including a former Government minister, in a move which also saw two officials being suspended for five years and four others for two years for indiscipline.
Former Minister of State in former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s Office, Sylvester Nguni, who was serving a three-year suspension, was expelled by the Central Committee.
Nguni is the Member of Parliament for Mhondoro- Mubaira and his expulsion from the party is expected to trigger a recall from the legislature to pave way for another by-election.
He was also a Central Committee member for Mashonaland West province.
Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo confirmed the development after a Central Committee meeting in Harare yesterday.
“Also expelled is Christwell Mutematsaka who was a Central Committee member from Mashonaland Central and Batsirai Musona, who was also the provincial secretary for security in Mashonaland Central province,” he said.
“There are also members who were suspended for five years and these are: Godfrey Tsenengamu, the former provincial chairperson for the Youth League in Mashonaland Central and Paul Rwodzi, who was the provincial secretary for administration in the Youth League in the same province.
“The others were suspended for two years and these are Chiratidzo Mukarati, who was the Harare provincial chairlady, Godwills Masimirembwa, former Harare provincial chairperson Happiness Nyakuedzwa, who was the provincial chairperson of the Women’s League for Manicaland and Danny Musukuma, former Harare provincial secretary for Legal Affairs.”
The expulsion and suspension of the cadres follow a similar fate that befell Mujuru and other former senior officials such as Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo.
The action was taken after it was discovered that there was a group within the party operating under the Mujuru cabal which was angling to remove President Mugabe through dubious means.
Khaya Moyo said the Central Committee confirmed the positions of acting chairpersons and substantive ones.
Bulawayo is chaired by Dennis Ndlovu, Harare – Charles Tawengwa, Manicaland – Samuel Undenge, Mashonaland Central – Dickson Mafios, Mashonaland East – Biggie Matiza, Mashonaland West – Ephraim Chengeta and Masvingo – Ezra Chidzamira.
Rabelani Choeni chairs Matabeleland South while Kizito Chivamba chairs Midlands and Richard Moyo (Matabeleland North).
Khaya Moyo said there were resolutions made by all the provinces that would be presented at the party’s 15th Annual National People’s Conference in Victoria Falls.
“All the provinces supported the President and First Secretary of the Party as the sole candidate for the position of President and First Secretary of the party and the country at the 2018 elections and beyond,” he said.
“This was the position from all the provinces. It was unanimous. The Women’s League has gone further through resolutions that were read by the National Political Commissar ( Saviour Kasukuwere) that they continue to support the First Lady as secretary for the Women’s League for the current term and beyond.

Woman Rapes Teenager Two Times
A 44-year old woman from Nkayi allegedly seduced her 17-year-old herdboy, bedded him twice and offered him money and a beast to conceal the matter, a court heard yesterday.
Bahle Msipa reportedly made sexual advances to the teenager after he was hired as a herdboy and was in the habit of urinating naked or undressing in his presence.
Msipa, who is facing two counts of aggravated indecent assault, pleaded not guilty when she appeared before regional magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze.
She claimed she was in love with the herdboy.
“I was in love with him and I got arrested as I was trying to recover some money that he stole from me. He proposed love and I told him I was too old for him. He persisted saying he had experience as he had bedded several older women,” said Msipa.
“I gave in and we started seeing each other. We eventually slept together one day when I was nursing him in my bedroom.” Msipa claimed the boy stole her money and ran away from her homestead in Dandadema village.
“I caught up with him at the police station where he had made a false report that I forced him to have intercourse. A policeman interviewed me and advised me to plead guilty to the charges so that I could be freed,” she said in her defence outline.
“I was ready to forgive him and move on but had to plead guilty to the charges not knowing that I was implicating myself. I then found myself in custody because of that. I was in love with the boy and that’s all I can say”.
The boy testified in camera and told the court that Msipa started seducing him when he fell sick.
“She asked me to sleep in her room so she could monitor my condition. She started touching my privates and I drew back but she continued touching me,” said the boy.
“I ended up giving in to her advances and from that day onwards, she started calling me sweetie. She would follow me during the day and relieve herself in front of me. She continued caressing my privates without my consent.”
Magistrate Msipa-Marondedze remanded Msipa in custody to today.
Prosecuting, Concilia Ncube said sometime in October at around 9PM, Msipa invited the boy to watch a soccer match in her bedroom.
“While they were watching the game Msipa, who was dressed in a petticoat, then grabbed the boy’s shoulders and started fondling his manhood. She offered him $1 to undress and show her his manhood and the boy refused,” said Ncube.
“She then forcibly undressed the boy and they had sex once without his consent.”
Ncube said the boy continued sleeping in Msipa’s room.
“On October 26, Msipa approached the boy and started touching him all over the body. She then grabbed his manhood and had intercourse once without his consent.”-State Media
Bloody Clash as Farmer Killed By Worker
A Marondera farmer died this morning at Carolina Farm after an altercation with his 28-year-old female employee over salary arrears.
It is alleged that the farmer, Julio Jairos (45), found the former employee, Ruth Pakanongwa (28), who is still staying at the farm compound, arguing with farm manager and asked what she was still doing at the farm as she is no longer an employee.
The two are said to have exchanged harsh words before they went to the ex-employee’s house where the now deceased intended to throw her belongings out.
A witness said he then heard the farmer crying that he had been hit. It is believed that the deceased was hit by a rail bar on an unknown part of the body before he collapsed.
He was taken to Borodaile hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The woman was arrested and is currently in police custody while the body has been taken to Marondera hospital mortuary for post mortem.
Mashonaland East Police Spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident, saying an altercation ensued as a result of outstanding salary to the accused.
He appealed to members of the public to solve their differences amicably. – State Media
Pastor Caught Naked with Man’s Wife
London – A church pastor was last week caught in the act with a congregant’s wife.
British police had to be called in to calm angers as the man was nabbed while pants down with the married woman.
Chaotic scenes erupted afterwards with the man being filmed while stark in his explicit Adamic covering shortly before being whisked away by a police officer.
The damning video being webcast on ZimEye.com Thursday shows the pastor, a Congolese man who has visited Zimbabwe, begging for clemency…
Chinamasa’s GDP Growth Is Fake – Analysts
Zimbabwe is unlikely to achieve its projected economic growth rate of 2,7 percent next year in the face of falling commodity prices and an impending drought , analysts have said.
Growth in mining and agriculture are expected to anchor the southern African country’s economic growth next year, although revenue is expected at $3,85 billion from $3,69 billion this year according to finance minister Patrick Chinamasa’s projections in the 2016 budget projections.
Speaking at a parliamentary post-budget seminar on Tuesday labour economist Godfrey Kanyenze said expecting the economy to grow in the context of declining commodity prices and a possible drought was too ambitious.
“We may actually struggle to do better than this year. It may actually be heroic to assume that we will grow at 2.7 percent given that the conditions are actually deteriorating,” he said.
“You cannot expect to reap the in same season that you sow. Structural reforms will take much longer and we may not be able to realise all the benefits in 2016.”
This year, government revised the economic growth projections from an initial 3,2 percent to 1,5 percent following a poor agricultural season. Revenue projections were cut down to $3,69 billion from $3,9 billion as key sectors floundered.
Revenues from tobacco – a top earner of foreign currency in previous years – this season fell 14 percent to $586,4 million. Tobacco output is expected to drop by as much as 20 percent after fewer farmers registered to grow the crop next year coupled with another expected poor rainy season.
Mineral earnings for the nine months to September — excluding diamond revenue — fell 11 percent to $1,26 billion owing to a decline in commodity prices.
“It is quite disturbing that they are expecting growth from agriculture and mining,” said economist John Robertson.
“Of concern really should be government’s expenditure and them putting in place investment friendly measures. With the current restrictions, investing in Zimbabwe is a privilege that one has to pay for.”
The country’s growth prospects hinge on government clearing arrears to international lenders by the first quarter next year to unlock fresh funding for the stuttering economy, analysts said.-Source
Air Zimbabwe “Sewage Leak”: Airline Admits Water Spill
Zimbabwe’s embattled national airline has said that it wasn’t raw effluent that was photographed running down the aisle of one of its planes at the weekend.
It was “clean” water from a hand basin that had overflowed, Air Zimbabwe insists.
The embarrassing incident happened on a Sunday morning flight between Harare and Johannesburg.
A passenger on the flight snapped a picture of the water – which admittedly looked very much like raw sewage – flowing down the carpeted aisle, with another passenger clearly keeping his sandalled foot well out of the way.
The passenger, identified as Kene Esom by Zimbabwe’s privately-owned Newsday paper, was quoted as saying: “Rather than make an announcement explaining what was happening to bewildered passengers, the crew was upset that I was taking pictures.”
“They threatened to hand me over to security operatives for trying to embarrass the airline,” he said.
The plane is understood to have been carrying some non-Zimbabwean delegates who had been attending a international conference on HIV Aids and STIs, making the incident even more embarrassing for the airline.
‘Minor fault’
In a statement on Wednesday, Air Zimbabwe spokesperson Shingai Dhliwayo said the incident was the result of a “minor fault” and claimed it was technically impossible for raw sewage to enter the cabin.
“Water overflowed from the handwash basin and overflowed onto the lavatory floor and subsequently into the cabin aisle during descent into Johannesburg,” Dhliwayo said in the statement, which was seen by News24.
She said the water only looked like sewage in the photograph because of a “light glare”.
“The online reports which suggest that [sewage] was flowing into the cabin are not true because it is technically impossible for [sewage] to flow back as the B767 aircraft uses a vacuum source to a collector tank,” she added.
“At no time during the flight was the safety and health of the passengers and our crew compromised,” Dhliwayo added.
Air Zimbabwe has been battling for years to remain viable and faces an added challenge in the recent entry of low-budget airlines on the Johannesburg to Harare route.
Earlier this year, company secretary Grace Pfumbidzayi and former CEO Peter Chikumba spent five months in jail on a fraud conviction.

Uebert Angel Condom Style Spins Cash Selling Doll Figurines
Fugitive preacher Uebert Angel has caused a stir with his church launching the sale of the man’s doll figurines, said to bring anointing cash fortunes.
In what is said to be in pattern with the condom supplies by colleague, ‘prophet’ Paul Sanyangore, Angel’s dolls are said to bring power and business luck.
“You keep it in your house, talk to it, and all your prayers will be granted,” a congregant told ZimEye.com.
The doll is a replica of Angel’s body form and includes his flashing red shoes at the feet.
The 37-year-old preacher calls himself Spiritual Father to men and women twice his age.
He is also fingered for sexually pleasuring himself on several young women from within his congregation.
Several contributors in the newsroom voiced saying Angel’s conduct brings curses to the nation. “How can the heavens give us rain in all this abuse?,” wrote one.
“There are better ways of fundraising, which he can venture into rather than selling these anointed dolls,” added another contributor.
While the final declared official price tag on the dolls could not be established at the time of writing, the development comes after the man began sinking financially and has been kicked out of his church building in Birmingham.
Lightning Strike Chases Family Out of Home
A family from Sikabela area in Hwange District has fled its homestead after lightning struck three times reducing a hut to rubble and destroying property. Acting Chief Mvuthu confirmed receiving a report of the incident. Neighbours told The State Media they suspected evil spirits were haunting the family following weird occurrences that included another lightning strike in 2011.
The bizarre incident occurred on Wednesday last week in Lusaba Village under Chief Mvuthu. Sibusisiwe Ngwenya, 23, and her two-week-old baby narrowly escaped death as they were in the hut when the lightning struck the bed they were sleeping on.
Her mother-in-law Simangaliso Dube, 46, was rushed to hospital and treated for shock. Dube, who is diabetic and has hypertension, was admitted for three days at Victoria Falls District Hospital.
A State Media news crew visited the deserted homestead where it found the rubble of what used to be a hut. “What happened here is so sad. The baby only escaped with one napkin while the family lost everything. We suspect there could be some evil spirits because this is not the first time this has happened,” said a neighbour who asked not to be named. Whoever heard of lightning striking the same place twice, let alone thrice within minutes?” asked the neighbour.
The news crew tracked Dube, her son Honest and daughter-in-law Ngwenya to Chinotimba suburb.
Ngwenya said: “I was lying on the bed with my daughter when I heard a loud bang. As I looked up, there was a something that looked like a star on the roof. I screamed, grabbed my daughter and fled to the kitchen where my mother in-law was”.
Dube said the lightning struck around 5PM. Even the heavy rains that pounded for about two hours, she said, could not put out the inferno as the hut was destroyed. “I was cooking in the kitchen hut when my daughter in-law suddenly screamed. We realised the bedroom hut had been struck by lightning,” said Dube.
She said she tried to go out but lightning struck again twice before the room collapsed destroying all property inside. The bolt reportedly struck the roof of the hut before striking for the second time, getting through the window and setting a bed alight.
Dube and the rest of the family have since sought refuge at her brother-in-law’s house in Chinotimba suburb. She said they lost all food stocks, maize seed, household furniture, blankets, utensils, solar panels, building material, $300 and the only clothes they remained with were the ones they were wearing.
As if that was not enough, Dube said, suspected thieves broke into her brother’s house on the day she was discharged from hospital and stole close to $200 which was in a handbag. State Media
Innscor Buying 3 More Companies
By Alfonce Mbizwo(The Source) – Innscor Africa is in talks to acquire three local companies, expanding its portfolio across various sectors of the economy to minimise risk and will consider unbundling more of its units to unlock shareholder value, chief executive Antonio Fourie has said.
The group acquired automotive parts retailer Transerve in July and South African former Ellerine Holdings group chief executive Fourie — appointed Innscor head last year to spearhead the group’s restructuring drive — told The Source in an interview that the group was eyeing three companies in speciality retail and light manufacturing, but declined to disclose the names.
“We are looking at a few more acquisitions and we are currently in negotiations on three potential acquisitions. We are at a point where we are ready to go through the regulatory hoops and as soon as we are through with those hurdles we will be able to comment more on the acquisitions,” said Fourie.
Foreign ambition
After unbundling and separate listing of its quick service restaurants (QSR) unit as Simbisa Brands, Innscor is strategising to expand into the foreign markets, Fourie said.
“We have to start again because we were achieving growth outside Zimbabwe through the QSR business. Now as we have unbundled the QSR, effectively 95 percent of our business is now in Zimbabwe so we are now coming out of the starting block,” he said.
Prior to its unbundling, Innscor’s fast food business had expanded rapidly on the African continent, having more counters in the region at 196 than the 171 it has in Zimbabwe. The now Simbisa group operates its own fast food outlets in Kenya, Zambia, Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as franchised operations in Swaziland, Lesotho and Malawi. These regional operations added $52 million in revenue to Innscor in 2014 while the Zimbabwean fast food business, where it enjoys 82 percent market share, contributed $98 million.
The fast food business – which includes Simbisa’s own brands, Chicken Inn and Pizza Inn as well as Nandos and Steers franchises — contributed 14 percent to Innscor’s revenue.
“All the work we have done to date through the QSR to expand out of Zimbabwe is now undone with the listing of Simbisa,” said Fourie.
Primarily, the group is looking to expand its poultry market in Kenya and drive its logistics and distribution arms, Distribution Group Africa and Vital Distribution Logistics into the region.
Most of the group’s current foreign component is in Zambia and is “dabbling a little bit in Botswana and into Namibia,” according to Fourie. Innscor also owns the Spar franchise in Zambia.
The unbundling of Simbisa followed that of Padenga in 2010 and Fourie said opportunities were there for more units to be diverged from the group.
“We are still busy working on what the best configuration and portfolio of investments for Innscor Africa Limited is and we think there is another opportunity for unbundling but it’s a little bit too early to be definitive,” he said.
Lofty targets
Fourie, who told The Source soon after his appointment last year that his objective was to achieve a 30 percent return on equity (ROE) and 60 percent of free cash generation earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), said the deteriorating economic fundamentals made it difficult to achieve the target.
“We need to manage our returns and get them up, but in this economy there is debate on whether the 30 percent is the right target because nobody is getting 30 percent. The risk free rate of return here is eight percent and at 30 percent you are talking pre-tax,” he explained.
” After tax we are still looking north of 20 percent. We are not achieving that as we are around 18 percent but that is a function of the returns being lower than we would like them to be because our cost base is excessive and in this economy revenue growth is difficult to come by. But we also need to check our balance sheet because our gearing is very low at 10 percent.
“We are looking at our balance sheet to see how we can better optimise the capital structure of the group and obviously we need to grow the business and take the costs out. We are comfortable that we are making good progress on costs but we are not moving our target (of 30 percent ROE).”
Going forward, Fourie said the future was not rosy and that companies should be prepared to adapt their strategies.
“Disposable incomes are going to continue to come down, the price to the customer is going to be a material issue and therefore costs in our operating environment are going to have to get down and companies are going to have to be prepared to sacrifice margins to keep volumes up to ensure that the throughput in their factories and outlets are being maximised,” said Fourie.
Fourie — who told shareholders at the annual general meeting last month that the group had adopted an aggressive pricing regime to grow its volumes and protect its revenue base in the face of increased competition and falling disposable incomes — said the strategy would continue.
“Our volumes have grown across the board with the exception of retail and volume growth has been very good in some sectors. Obviously that has come on the back of lower average selling prices and revenue is not coming through but we continue to fight that fight and make sure that our (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) can grow even though our prices are falling by focussing on the cost line,” he said.
Mugabe Banishes Chinese Investors
President Robert Mugabe’s nephew and Indigenisation Minister Patrick Zhuwao, has begun banishing Chinese and Indian retail businesses.
The sector according to the “ever shifting” black empowerment laws, is reserved for locals.
It is however occupied by Indian, Chinese and Nigerian nationals who are into car spares and food stuff selling.
Zhuwao said starting next year government will be evicting foreigners who are in the retail sector.
“Starting next year in January we will be enforcing and following the indigenisation laws, where I will be pronouncing that there are reserved sectors which are for Zimbabweans.
“The truth at the moment is that these reserved sectors have been infiltrated by foreigners and the problem with these foreigners is that they are taking all the money and profits to their countries “, he said.
This is not the first time government has threatened to displace foreigners who are in the retail sector.
Five years ago some pro-Zanu PF youths groups which include Upfumi Kuvadiki wrecked havoc in Harare when they tried to evict Nigerians from these sectors.
The organisation staged several demonstrations against the awarding of a street parking contract to a South African company Easi-Park by the Harare city council.
Zhuwao said companies which refuse to indigenise will be forced to pay an indigenisation levy which will also be introduced early next year.
“We are saying because of that when we enforce the empowerment levy we shall put some rebates but those who would benefit from these rebates will to the extent of that company,” said Zhuwao.
Mother’s Two Lovers Rape Daughter, 10
A Mutoko woman allegedly shielded her two boyfriends who raped her 10-year-old daughter on three different occasions and concealed the offences while treating the wounds on the girl’s private parts with salt and water.
The woman (31) committed the offence when she was staying in Chitungwiza sometime in 2011. She would give her daughter some unknown tablets and would treat her with salty hot water each time she was sexually abused. The woman also allegedly promised to report the offences to the police, but did not.
She allegedly forced her daughter not to go to school for two weeks until she got healed and instructed her not to reveal the abuse.
The matter came to light after the minor relocated to Chegutu where she narrated her ordeal to her aunt leading to her mother’s arrest. The court heard that during their stay in Chitungwiza, the girl’s mother went away leaving her alone at home.
It is alleged that her first boyfriend came and sexually abused her. After the offence, the man went away and when the minor’s mother came, she told her of the abuse.
Allegations are that the woman would assure her daughter that she was going to report the offence, but to no avail.
Further allegations are that after sustaining injuries on her privates, the girl’s mother would soak her private parts in salty water. As a result, the minor would not to go school for two weeks since she had problems in walking.
On the second occasion, the man allegedly raped the girl when her mother had gone to the bar. During the same year, they relocated to another place in the same area and her mother started having an affair with another man.
The man came when the minor’s mother was not at home with ice cream which he gave to the girl and raped her.
As usual, the girl would inform her mother, but she would treat her and promise to report the offences. Appearing before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Jessy Kufa, the woman denied obstructing or defeating the course of justice. She was remanded out of custody to December 15.
WITCHCRAFT: 5 Brothers Set Uncle On Fire
Five Seke brothers allegedly teamed up to murder their uncle by setting him ablaze and attacking him with a knobkerrie, as they accused him of possessing goblins, the court heard.
One of the brothers, David Mahungo (28) of Chamunorwa Village, Chief Seke has since appeared in court charged with murder.
Mahungo who has pending charges of malicious damage to property on CRB 92/11/15 was not asked to plead to the charges.
He appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo who remanded him in custody to December 21. He was advised to seek bail at the High Court.
According to the indictment papers, Mahungo allegedly convened a meeting with his four brothers on Sunday to discuss issues to do with witchcraft in their family.
The court heard that they identified their now deceased uncle Musekiwa as being the source of their troubles. They allegedly teamed up and went to Musekiwa’s house in the same area.
On arrival, they started accusing him of possessing goblins that have been wreaking havoc in their lives. The court heard that Mahungo and his brothers took turns to beat up Musekiwa claiming that he was a wizard.
Further allegations are that the brothers manhandled the now deceased and set him ablaze. They also allegedly attacked him with a knobkerrie and further assaulted him with switches and blows.
Allegations are that Musekiwa died on the spot as a result of the injuries. The matter was reported to the police leading to Mahungo’s arrest.

Grace Rally Kills 3 More People in Another Deadly Rally Stampede | BREAKING NEWS
The deceased and the injured were immediately taken away from the scene by police details…
Granny, Two Toddlers Killed at Grace Death Rally
By Tinoonga Mawere -Gutu| An elderly woman and two toddlers were killed during a stampede at First Lady Grace Mugabe’s rally at Mushayavanhu High School last Friday 4th December in an incident that was quickly swept under the carpet and the Police ordered not to report anything.
Eyewitnesses here reveal that the three were crushed to death as people scrambled for the donations of death that left three others critically injured. In a state of desperation as a result of food shortages thousands of people crammed the haulage trucks to get maize meal and cooking oil among other donations.
Although police in Gutu said there were no such deaths, villagers present reveal that they were warned against taking photographs by state security agents. “An old woman and two toddlers were trampled to death during the stampede as people jostled for the food items brought by the First Lady. Three people were also rushed to Gutu Mission Hospital for treatment after being injured during the stampede. It was really tight and noone was allowed to take photographs and it was a horrific situation .We were strongly warned against divulging the details. I saw people being crushed,” said an eyewitness.
Another eyewitness told ZimEye.com, “three people died while trying to get free fertilizer on the 4th December.”
The deceased and the injured were immediately taken away from the scene by police details.
This bring the total number of reported deaths due to Grace’s rallies to (6) six. People have been killed during Mrs Mugabe’s death rallies across the country with reports that the death toll could be higher than the figures released so far.
As a result of socio- economic hardships and hunger, people have been forced to scramble for the food items brought by the First Lady.
Surprisingly Grace took a swipe at NGOs during the rally accusing the organisations of sponsoring the regime change agenda.
There are reports that Mrs Mugabe only plays a middle role in facilitating the purchasing of the products mainly from China.
It has also been reported that thousands throng Mrs Mugabe’s rallies only for the purpose of receiving the freebies, an indication of desperate measures by the poor people.
LICK MY PRIVATES: Woman Rapes 5 Boys
A woman from Mucheke A in Masvingo who allegedly had small boys leaking her private parts before having sex with some of them has been further remanded in custody to February 10, 2016.
She was arrested on October 21 2015 after it emerged that five boys from the neighborhood who are aged between three-and-half years and 15 would visit her house where she would abuse them.
Gladys Gumbiti (35) appeared before Masvingo Regional Magistrate Judith Zuyu last week.
The State says on one of the days, the accused instructed one of the minors aged 15 to come into her bedroom, removed her clothes, lied on her bed and had sexual intercourse with the minor in full view of the other minors.
The alleged victims were tested for HIV and Aids at Masvingo General hospital following an order from the court and Magistrate Zuyu told the court that the medical results show that the kids were abused.
Hordes of people swarmed Chikato Police Station to see the accused woman when the story broke. Mirror
Mujuru Captures Matabeleland
Staff Reporter | The much-anticipated new political formation to be led by former Vice President Joyce Mujuru is gathering huge momentum in the Matabeleland region and now set to make the region its stronghold.
Led by ousted former war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda, the party’s recruitment exercise is reportedly capturing several prominent politicians and community leaders within the region. Most of the people recruited are still within their political parties while waiting for the official launch of the new party to declare their moves.
Most hit is the ruling ZANU PF party which will get a huge number of defections when the new party is launched shortly after the ZANU PF congress taking place this week.
Reliable sources working within the two formation claim that ZANU PF will be left without most of its provincial and district leaders particularly in Mat South where the list includes some members of parliament.
According to the sources the hardest hit area is Matabeleland South province which the sources claim will be the new political party’s stronghold. The party is said to be considered by the people of the region as a real unification of the people as it brings back together several prominent politicians who have operated as foes since the formation of the MDC in 1999.
The sources further claim that the Welshman Ncube led MDC has virtually lost almost all of its members in Matabeleland South to the new formation. Dumiso Dabengwa led ZAPU is cited in the information leak as an immediate ally to the Mujuru led party because of close ties that existed between Dabengwa and the late General Solomon Mujuru, husband to Joyce Mujuru.
The information made available to media before the weekend claimed that Dabengwa who was due to retire from leading ZAPU over the weekend was in fact not going to retire only until the unification with the yet to be named Mujuru party. As it turned out after the weekend, Dabengwa indeed announced his continued lead of ZAPU at the party’s conference over the weekend.
Some disgruntled members of the Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC also do have their names mentioned amongst those said to be due to declare their official defection to Mujuru. MDC T Bulawayo province has the most number of people on their way to the new party.
The sources further claim that the people from Matabeleland South might be lucky to witness the launch of the new party being held in Gwanda if the requests of the leadership in the province are acceded to. The sources claim that the official position of Matabeleland recruitment and request to have the launch held in Gwanda will be tabled at a party meeting in Harare this weekend.
Verified information confirms that the party is due to have it’s inaugural inter districts meeting in Harare this weekend. Each constituency in the country is expected to send four people to attend the private meeting whose venue and times are yet to be revealed to the delegates.
The districts will be officially tabling their recruitment figures and names of prominent politicians joining the party will be revealed in the meeting.
Mnangagwa Hits BrickFire Dead End
Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa hit a brick wall yesterday when the thorny issue of a female Vice President became official party business.
Mnangagwa’s mooted ambitions to succeed President Robert Mugabe may have suffered a fatal blow yesterday after the post-congress Zanu PF’s politburo began embracing growing calls for a return of the women’s quota system in the warring ruling party.
Addressing the media soon after the politburo’s meeting in Harare, Zanu PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo said the various resolutions that had been made by provinces, including on this contentious issue, were set to be tabled at the party’s annual conference that is being held in the resort town of Victoria Falls.
A well-placed source told the Daily News last night that there was now broad, albeit “tactically conflictual agreement” among the party’s various factions on the need to re-introduce the women’s quota system — a development that is destined to spark a battle of titanic proportions in the coming days.
Zanu PF’s ambitious Young Turks, who are commonly referred to as the Generation 40, and who are said to be backing First Lady Grace Mugabe to succeed her increasingly-frail husband and not Mnangagwa, have been at the forefront of the demand that at least one of the two party vice presidents should be a woman — a move insiders say is designed to block the Midlands godfather’s alleged presidential aspirations.
“Inter-district conferences have been held in all provinces, coming up of course with their various resolutions which will be presented to the (Victoria Falls) conference,” Khaya Moyo told the media after yesterday’s politburo meeting.
And with the majority in the party now appearing to be demanding a return of the women’s quota system which was expediently discarded late last year as former Vice President Joice Mujuru was being hounded out of the party on untested allegations of plotting to oust and kill Mugabe, Mnangagwa’s days in the presidium may be numbered.
But the insider who spoke to the Daily News last night said Mnangagwa’s supporters were plotting to turn the tables on their party enemies who were agitating for the return of this affirmative action dictate by agreeing to its re-introduction — as long as this would benefit former PF Zapu cadres.
Zimbabwe National War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) Mashonaland West provincial chairperson, Cornelius Muwoni, appeared to confirm this when he spoke to the Daily News last night, saying his organisation was not opposed to a woman vice president being appointed to be one of Mugabe’s deputies, although he said they would want that this be done on a rotational basis to accommodate former Zapu cadres.
“As war veterans, we support equality between men and women, so we have no problems with a woman from the party being one of the vice presidents.
“We would however, want that to be done on a rotational basis to also include Zapu, seeing that when it was first introduced it benefitted a Zanu cadre in Joice Mujuru. So, it only makes sense that this time, should it be returned, it should also benefit the other side,” Muwoni said.
This thinking was shared by former Zipra cadre Zenzo Ncube, a member of ZNLWVA’s council of elders, who argued that if war veterans had allowed a takeover of the leadership of the association by Christopher Mutsvangwa from the executive led by former Zapu cadre Jabulani Sibanda, it was only fair that this arrangement be followed for the party’s vice presidency.
“We are currently discussing the issue as former Zapu cadres. We want to come up with a preferred candidate for the position should it (the proposal) sail through,” Ncube said.
The move by Team Lacoste, as the Mnangagwa camp calls itself, is designed to ensure that they neutralise Grace, the G4O and Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko — thus keeping Mnangagwa as one of the party’s two deputies, and therefore well-positioned to succeed Mugabe.
Further to this, Team Lacoste is said to be pushing Mugabe to make changes to the party’s leadership, with war veterans in particular calling for the ouster of national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere — arguing that he is supposedly divisive, in addition to lacking liberation struggle credentials.
In addition, the restive war veterans also want their own to monopolise the posts for lands and security in the politburo.
On the other hand, the G40 want War veterans minister Mutsvangwa axed from his post as war veterans chairperson and be replaced by Patrick Nyaruwata.
However, Khaya Moyo emphasised after yesterday’s politburo meeting that the buck on all pending matters stopped with Mugabe.
“I want to emphasise that this is not an elective conference, it’s only the congress which is elective. So, we must not spread rumours. You are aware that his Excellency the president is the only one after the amendment of the constitution last December who is elected … all of us we are appointees and he can appoint at his leisure.
“So, we must not mix up the purpose of this conference,” the Zanu PF information tsar said.
The move to return the party quota system comes after it was discarded late last year, at the height of the post-congress Zanu PF’s factional and succession wars.
And with Mnangagwa embroiled in the bitter fight to succeed Mugabe with the G40, this is raising growing fears among his supporters that the Midlands godfather may go down in the same manner that Mujuru was deposed from power last year. This means that this week’s annual conference could prove to be one of the most important and significant periods in the long political life of Mnangagwa as the war to succeed Mugabe gets hotter and nastier by the day.DailyNews
Dabengwa Retains ZAPU Presidency
Veteran politician Dumiso Dabengwa shrugged off competition from fellow party presidential aspirants to retain his post as president of Zapu, ahead of the party’s congress to be held in the city from December 15 to 17.
This emerged from the party’s pre-congress provincial conferences that were held over the weekend across the globe. The conferences were meant to deliberate on suggestions on party policy and possible amendments to the party constitution, as well as make provincial nominees to the National Executive Council that will take over the reins at congress.
It had been anticipated to be tough for Dabengwa after three senior members, party secretary-general Ralph Mguni, party alternate secretary-general Strike Mnkandla and little known UK-based Thulani Nkala had indicated that they were going to challenge the liberation war hero for the top post.
South Africa, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo, Midlands and Europe are among the provinces that have finished the nomination process.
By late yesterday, there was still no confirmation from the Northern provinces where incidentally, no one had expressed intent to challenge Dabengwa. In Matabeleland South province, Mnkandla reportedly got a miserable three points with Dabengwa scoring over hundred votes.
In the Europe province, Mguni reportedly failed to get any nominations while Nkala also lost to Dabengwa with an unconfirmed margin. Party spokesperson Iphithule Maphosa confirmed Dabengwa’s endorsement during the provincial conferences.
“A provincial conference is an important process for each of our provinces that precede our people’s congress,” he told the Daily News. “This is when provinces deliberate and agree on the direction of the party policy and a deeper look is given to the party constitution.
“There can be no congress without provincial conferences.” Asked about Mnkandla’s challenge to Dabengwa, Maphosa said it was only an example of how democratic Zapu was unlike in Zanu PF where no one dares challenge President Robert Mugabe.
“We are not like Zanu PF where challenging Mugabe is criminal to such an extent that you get killed. In our party, anyone is free to go for any post. “It is encouraging and a healthy development to see Mnkandla standing up and availing himself for duty.
While election results and numbers are not important to us, we are happy that an internal democratic process was allowed to take place and everyone is happy with the result,” he said.
Villagers Resort To Wild Fruits For Survival As Mugabe Chews Millions On Foreign Trips.
Hundreds of families in Zaka’s Masvingo province are surviving on wild fruits at a time President Robert Mugabe is blowing millions of dollars on foreign travels.
President Mugabe as of march this year had blown $15 million on foreign travel.
The trips included his last December retreat to the Far East for the festive season.
According to the state media hunger in Masvingo has reached alarming levels with hundreds families are resorting to wild fruits as they cannot afford even a single meal a day.
The most affected are those who live in the Gumbo and Rudanda areas.
Most families say the little grain they harvested in the 2014/2015 farming season was finished by June.
Wild fruits mostly Mashuku and seasonal fruits such as mangoes have become their means of survival during the day as they save the little grain to ensure at least one hot meal a day.
But that too is fast running out and the villagers are now desperate.
Some of the villagers rely on selling the wild fruits on the highway to raise money to buy grain.
According to some of the villagers, some children have since stopped going to school due to hunger.
While hopes had been pinned on the newly planted crop, the long dry spell is threatening to wipe out any life.
Livestock in the area is also in a poor state due to water shortages.

Joice Mujuru to Shoot Down Mugabe’s Airplane, Court Hears
President Robert Mugabe would have been in a grave by now having been shot while in mid air by former Vice President Joice Mujuru in March this year.
The government witness testifying in a case in which jailed church leader Robert Martin Gumbura is accused of masterminding a foiled jailbreak yesterday alleged the Vice President was plotting to shoot down Mugabe’s plane on his return from Egypt.
State witness Claudius Mutizwa narrated to the court how Gumbura was working with former Vice President Dr Joice Mujuru and her followers to dethrone the Government and assassinate Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Mutizwa said Gumbura was being used by Dr Mujuru and other former Government officials who wanted to form their own political party.
Mutizwa the “informant” told the court that Gumbura was to mobilise inmates while alleged coup plotter and former army captain Albert Matapo was to mobilise manpower and weapons to start a civil war.
“The outside manpower was to advance towards Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison and assist the prisoners to escape. The signal was going to come from the burning blankets,” he said.
“If they had managed to escape, they were going to get hold of Government officials while President Mugabe was in China. They wanted to get military weapons from the army and police bases and their main target was Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa who was the acting President then. They did not even want President Mugabe to land in the country,” Mutizwa said.
He added that the coup plotters were going to be joined by Dr Mujuru and other political heavyweights who followed her. He said Gumbura would then be heavily rewarded.
“While they were planning, they said that for their plans to succeed, there should be bloodbath,” he said.
Mutizwa also said that deputy officer-in-charge of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison Superintendent Jealous Dumbura, who was working with them, was promised “heaven on earth” after the mission.
He said that Dumbura was always complaining to Gumbura that he had not received anything from ZPCS despite serving in the force for 20 years.
“He told Gumbura that he was not being promoted to a more senior rank. Gumbura then promised him heaven on earth if he was to work with them,” the court heard.
Gumbura’s lawyer, Mr Tapson Dzvetero, read part of Mutizwa’s police statement in which he exonerated Gumbura from any wrongdoing saying that he did not participate in the foiled jailbreak. However, Mutizwa denied saying that to the police adding that it could be a typing error.
Mutizwa left the gallery in stitches when he was asked by Mr Dzvetero if he had any proof to substantiate his allegations against Gumbura.
“Yes, I have tangible proof that the accused person is sitting in dock, which means he has a case to answer and the other evidence is that I am testifying against him,” he said.
Magistrate Mr Francis Mapfumo rolled over the matter to today for continuation of trial. Mr Michael Reza prosecuted.
Gumbura is jointly charged with Blessing Chauke (25), Lucky Mhungu (38), Taurai Dodzo (47), Thomas Chacha (37), Thulani Chizema (32), Jacob Sibanda (28), Elijah Vhumbunu (38) and notorious armed robber Lucky Matambanadzo (39). The nine are accused of masterminding a foiled jailbreak.
Mugabe Ignores All, Airport Residents Removed
Government has started relocating residents who had built illegal structures near the Harare International Airport to Stoneridge Park in Harare South. This followed concerns by President Mugabe during the official opening of the first phase of Harare International Airport Road last month that the illegal residential settlement tarnished the image of the country as many visitors passed through the place.
The squatters are staying at an open space reserved for the airport’s expansion at corner Harare Drive and Joshua Nkomo Express Way formerly Airport Road.
In an interview with The Herald, Harare South legislator, Shadreck Mashayamombe said the relocation of illegal residents started last week and the last batch would receive their stands today.
“We have not yet started demolishing the illegal structures. We are relocating the illegal residents and we started last week,” Mashayamombe said.
“Local Government is providing the stands and the last batch is expected to be given land tomorrow (today).”
He also said that they had agreed with the residents and all stakeholders on the period the residents had to relocate before Harare City Council demolishes their houses.
“We have held three meetings with the residents on the reason why they should move and many have already started relocating.
“We also talked to the mayor and the council will remove residents who fail to meet the date we agreed on,” said Mashayamombe.
Mashayamombe said Government issued out 2 000 stands at Retreat Farm in Harare South in 2013 for these illegal residents but they failed to vacate the place leaving them with no option but to forcefully move them.
The settlement is administered by a housing cooperative called Nyikavanhu and is largely composed of makeshift house
Robbers Ransack House, Disappear with Victim’s Car
THREE men armed with knives stormed a house in Bulawayo’s Famona suburb where they threatened to kill the occupants before looting property worth more than $17,000 and escaping in the victims’ car. The suspects, who are still at large, are said to have left their victims tied up with USB cables. Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Garikai Chipfunde said police are hunting the suspects following the robbery on Thursday last week.
“Police are investigating an unlawful entry case where three suspects broke into a house, stole property and loaded it into their victims’ car before driving away in it,” said Asst Insp Chipfunde. Sources said the trio entered the Famona residence owned by Eugene Fransch and his wife at about 11PM after the couple had retired to bed.
“The robbers, who were armed with knives, threatened to stab the couple if they didn’t follow their orders. They demanded cash and were given $600,” said a source. The source said the robbers were enraged with what they called a pittance.
“They looted household property and loaded it into the family’s car. They used USB cables to tie up the couple before driving away,” added the source. “They stole a Nissan Tiida which they used as their getaway car. They stole property worth about $17,700. They took away $600 in cash, two cellphones, an Apple laptop, PA system among other things,” said the source.
He said police discovered the vehicle abandoned along Masiyephambili Drive the following morning. A Chronicle news crew yesterday visited the house where the robbery occurred but a gardener said there was no one at home.
Meanwhile, Asst Insp Chipfunde appealed to Bulawayo residents to increase security in their homes especially during the festive season. He urged members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the police.
Yesterday, The Chronicle published a story detailing how a five-man gang armed with axes and knives is causing terror in Mpopoma suburb, breaking into three houses in two nights. The gang members, according to residents, paint their faces a “scary black”.
Theresa Makone Campaigns for Grace Mugabe?
By Tinoonga Mawere, Bikita| MDC Treasurer General Theresa Makone subtly campaigned for the First Lady Grace Mugabe at the weekend.
Makone was captured pouring admiration for the Zanu PF Women’s League boss at a Rally here on Sunday.
She told about 500 MDC supporters in the Makuvaza area time was ripe for women to assume top leadership positions the Grace Mugabe style.
Makone voiced deep esteem for Mrs Mugabe’s errands across the country adding it pointed out to the potential women have in taking up leading roles in political institutions.
The controversial Tsvangirai anchor also said there was nothing wrong for a woman occupying a leading post in politics.
Although Makone spoke cynically about the First Lady, she still within the same message, expressed admiration for the president’ s wife and called on the women at the rally to take courage and stand up to be counted .
Grace who has hogged the limelight for contrasting reasons , has expressed intensions to assume the Zanu PF leadership and eventually the country’s presidency .
“Why are women afraid of taking up top posts in politics ? There is nothing wrong with a woman assuming a high post in politics. We are seeing what some women are doing and there is really nothing bad about it. We all must be courageous and at times we must emulate what others are doing. It is good for a woman to assume leadership and that is what we want,” said Makone at the rally.
She made constant cynical remarks praising Grace and lamented the fact that women were being suppressed in political circles adding women must support each other under such circumstances .
Makone’s rally ironically coincided with Grace’s whirlwind rally at Mushayavanhu Business Centre last Friday .
Political analysts here immediately said there was nothing coincidental in the statements but rather Makone wanted to praise the First Lady -hoping to earn recognition in Grace’s impending government.
It is now feared Grace who is known for spending lavishly could further drain the fragile economy if she happens to land the presidency .
Although MDC supporters at the rally attempted to pour cold water on the remarks, Makone visibly irked some of her colleagues who were not happy with the sentiments.

Equipping Blind Girls And Women To See
Blindness is traditionally believed to be a curse. If a child is born blind, or loses sight, back in our history, the elders did not have any other explanation, apart from believing that this was a curse from the ancestors. They were angry and in their anger, they were giving a blind child to the family concerned to communicate their anger. The response of the community was to take the blind child and kill it to cast away the curse and appease the spirits in any way prescribed spiritually.
This view gradually got imprinted into African beliefs and inevitably formed our attitudes and thinking patterns towards the phenomenon of blindness. Generally, blindness and sight loss are not acceptable at first value, as being a result of anything that can be explained medically, yet like any other such conditions, blindness has comprehensive medical explanation, which, will be a topic of discussion in a later publication. For now, let’s focus on what then are the effects of the attitude discussed above, on blind women and girls.
Firstly, the family in which there happen to be a blind woman or girl, has mixed feelings and views, on how they can best help the individual who is visually impaired. To begin with, shock is the first reaction. In such emotions, reason and logic are suspended and so, they will just respond to any advice given from any and every angle. Such pieces of advice may vary from, seeking, spiritual help, to herbal remedies. Usually, the medical route is taken seriously, after what I have referred to as the shock stage. The length of the shock period may be determined, by how much the family can be open to outside help. Some families which are more reserved can even go for a year or even beyond, lingering in their shock of what would have befallen one of their members. In so doing, the woman or girl is being disadvantaged in that she is losing out on appropriate help and support.
This will then impact negatively on the visually impaired woman or girl in that, if they are old enough, it also communicates a negative message to them, on their loss of sight. it then means that, their condition is not acceptable and there has to be a reversal of it, or else, they are doomed. The visually impaired woman or girl begins then to view herself as less equal to her sighted counterparts. on the other hand, the rest of the community may even have an attitude of misplaced sympathy, feeling sorry for the family in which there is the blind individual. The family itself is also not equipped enough to assist the woman or girl. in most of the circumstances, the visually impaired woman or girl receives overprotection from her family, to an extent that all her potential gets buried in this overprotection.
A girl who is born blind, or who loses her sight in her early years, virtually loses out on early childhood development and socialization. For instance, the girl may not get the usual training for personal hygiene or even for ordinary house chores. She may, in most cases, delay in going to school. This, again, will be discussed at length in another edition of this publication. So, as she matures into adulthood, she cannot compete with her sighted counterparts in this regard. This is a disadvantage to her. Please bear in mind that this is not because of her condition, but rather, socially constructed. The bricks for this nasty construction are the attitudes and reactions that came from her family and community. suppose, the family and community had not responded in that manner, suppose they would have quickly accepted the condition, and sought for appropriate advice, and rendered relevant support to the girl, would her story still read as above?
My message is, if a visually impaired woman of girl, gets all the support necessary, she can be equipped ‘to see a future’ filled with hope. The visually impaired woman or girl doubtlessly has potential, unique to her, which she should be assisted to release, for her benefit, and for the benefit of the family and the society as a whole. Believe me, there is too much that the society is losing out on, as long as the blind woman and girl has not been given her space.
Grace A Little Girl too Junior to Replace Mugabe-Mahofa
Exactly a year ago, she nearly killed herself while dancing praise songs for the First Lady, but today as the subject of President Robert Mugabe’s Imminent Replacement rips ZANU PF apart, and her province Masvingo openly defies Grace Mugabe, Mrs Shuvai Mahofa has changed tone – COMMENT
By Tinoonga Mawere Chiredzi| Barely two weeks after firing a salvo at First Lady Grace Mugabe, Minister of State For Masvingo Shuvai Mahofa has once again said Mrs Mugabe is too junior to replace her husband.
Speaking in Chiredzi at a Women’s League event last week Mahofa pulled another shocker when she said Grace would not replace her husband because she was too junior according to the Zanu PF constitution .
Mahofa herself who is yet to tackle the food crisis in the province once again tore into the hot succession debate and said Mrs Mugabe needs to be mentored for a long time first.
The veteran politician who recently said government had no capacity to combat hunger, said it was unheard of in the world for a First Lady to replace her husband .
“Only political green horns think that the First Lady wants to replace her husband .
Where in the world have you ever heard of a First Lady who replaced her husband ? Infact she has to be mentored by the two Vice Presidents ,”said Mahofa.
However Women’s League members who attended the event described Mahofa’s utterances as controversial and subtle. Zanu PF politicians are spending their energy on factional battles leaving the electorate in the cold. Senior party officials are reportedly committing resources towards the same although the treasury is literary dry -leaving Zimbabweans in abject poverty.
Having realised she had torched an inferno Mahofa reportedly tried to water down her remarks by claiming the Gamatox elements were working within Zanu PF to fan factional battles and the same elements were brewing the flaming heat in the ruling party. Mahofa has been accused of turning against her boss and observers say she could be putting her job on the line in the Grace Mugabe controlled Zanu PF.
Chiyangwa Speaks: I Will Not Betray Zimbabwe
ZIFA PRESIDENCY ACCEPTANCE SPEECH
Dr Philip Chiyangwa
I have triumphed in a national election that was more vicious, gruelling, bitter, most personalized, in the shortest electioneering period and above all employing the full arsenal of traditional media and multi-media stratagems in ways that has never been seen before in Africa. This election had more intrigue, subterfuge, and drama than the normal national General Elections- and I won. I won conclusively and resoundingly without fear or favour because the football family desired a break from business as usual. What won the day was the greatness of the desire to see accountability, transparency and normal business principles reign over the smallness of our petty and contrived differences. The contest of ideas truly went to the wire, but I cherish the clean mandate to put into practice my well-crafted, inclusive, sustainable and well thought-out ideas on taking our football forward.
I salute and applaud the ZIFA councillors for giving me the space to be heard, grow in my understanding of the tasks ahead, and in the process becoming a true partner and friend to most of them. I drew strength and inspiration from my family. I could have not made it without my unflinching allies in politics and business. It was truly uncomfortable to bear the pain of most personal onslaughts on my family’s efforts, dignity and quiet courage to see me through this process. I truly thank them for their tenacity. While it is always the refuge of the scoundrels and uninformed among us to believe that elections are won by money-the reality is much further than this simplistic understanding of the electoral process. Good strategy does triumph over boatloads of cash any day. Kune vamwe vakadyiwa, nekupfekwa, nekunwiwa zvekuenda pawheel chair yekubroker before me and lost many elections in spite of all that. In the contest for the ZIFA Presidency I was the rank outsider-indeed more disadvantaged like a Prophet at a beerhall brawl, and still pulled it off.
From the combat of ideas so passionately, and publicly laid out and sometimes most personal we have a task before us to rebuild, restore and reposition a powerful football family and legacy so conceived and so dedicated, that it can long endure. From the pain and acrimony of disunity we are rededicating ourselves to the great task before us. We cannot fail, must not fail and will not fail Zimbabwe in this most sacred trust of presiding over an institution so central to the creation and maintenance of our sense of unity and pride as a nation. Elections come and go for a season but the sacred trust in God and country long endures and springs eternal. We need each other’s need to have a football institution that is structured, operating and producing clear results that we all can be proud of.
Like any normal person I had my moments of doubt, and this victory has most invigorated me. I discovered that I had more fight in me as the intensity of recriminations from my detractors betrayed their great fear and respect in my capacity to be a game changer. I thank my enemies for going the distance with me as it makes my victory all the sweeter. Today there are no enemies and supporters, but members of the great football family, and I commit myself to win their trust, favour and above all respect and cooperation. I have a better track record, more political and business game than Donald Trump and it served me well when the going got tough.
In victory I extend a hand of gratitude and friendship to the worthy and committed candidates (my good brothers Mr. Trevor Carelse-Juul, Mr Lesley Gwindi and Mr James Takavada) who all fought a good fight and had the best interests of the sport at heart. In humility I ask for their continued counsel and contribution in making this a historic break for accountability, productivity and excellence in our football. There is no loser as football is the great winner today as we embark on an exciting but gruelling journey to reclaim the lost glories of our most favourite and treasured pastime. One ZIFA, one football family, one nation under God-we shall have a new birth of sporting pride-a new business template for doing things.
I shall not betray the sacred trust that the football family has bestowed on me, and will never take this mandate for granted.
Thank you and stay blessed. Ndinokudai mese and together we can and should do more for our country, our people and our football.

Chinamasa And Mutsvangwa Risk Expulsion-Zhuwao
Indeginisation minister Patrick Zhuwao says finance and war veterans’ ministers Patrick Chinamasa and Christopher Mutsvangwa risk expulsion from the party for lobbying for Foreign Direct Investment which is opposed to the party’s 2013 election campaign manifesto.
Prior to the July 2013 elections Zanu PF promised to create 2.2 million jobs through indigenisation.
But within a period of 24 months in office , hundreds of thousands of people had lost their jobs.
Zhuwao who is President Robert Mugabe’s nephew says he was employed to full the aging leader’s election company and warned “anyone” who tries to block the sabotage the indigenisation policy of expulsion from the party.
Chinamasa is engaging the World Bank , the International Monetary Fund and the west seeking for FDI, while his collegue Mutsvangawa is advocating for strengthening the country’s look east policy for investment.
“I was given this job by President Robert Mugabe and the job is in line with his 2013 election campaign manifesto of creating jobs through indigenisation and economic empowerment”,he said.
The deadlocked minister said he was aware of ministers who were opposed to the indiginisation policy .
.
“There are some of us who are saying that we should set aside indigenisation and go for foreign direct investment”.
“To those who are saying that and moving around looking for foreign direct investment wherever you go, please leave my indigenisation field”.
Pray This Powerful Prayer Daily
by John Eldredge
My dear Lord Jesus, I come to you now to be restored in you, renewed in you, to receive from you all the grace and mercy I so desperately need this day. I honour you as my Sovereign, and I surrender every aspect and dimension of my life totally and completely to you. I give to you my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will. I cover myself with your blood—my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will. I ask your Holy Spirit to restore me in you, renew me in you, and lead this time of prayer. In all that I now pray, I stand in absolute agreement with your Spirit and with my intercessors and allies, by your Spirit and by your Spirit alone.
Dearest God, holy and victorious Trinity, you alone are worthy of all my worship, my heart’s devotion, all my praise, all my trust, and all the glory of my life. I love you, I worship you, I give myself over to you in my heart’s search for life. You alone are Life, and you have become my life. I renounce all other gods, every idol, and I give to you the place in my heart and in my life that you truly deserve. This is all about you, God, and not about me; you are the Hero of this story, and I belong to you. I ask your forgiveness for my every sin. I renounce my sins. I ask you to search me and know me and reveal to me where you are working in my life and grant to me the grace of your healing, deliverance, your holiness, and a deep and true repentance.
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and choosing me before you made the world. You are my true Father—my creator, redeemer, sustainer, and the true end of all things, including my life. I love you, I trust you, I worship you. I give myself over to you, Father, to be one with you in everything as Jesus is one with you. Thank you for proving your love by sending Jesus; I receive him and all his life and all his work which you ordained for me. Thank you for including me in Christ, for forgiving me my sins, for granting me his righteousness, for making me complete in him. Thank you for making me alive with Christ, raising me with him, seating me with him at your right hand, establishing me in his authority, and anointing me with your love, your Spirit, and your kingdom. I receive it with thanks and give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will. I bring the life and work of the Lord Jesus Christ over my life today, over my home, my family, my household, throughout my kingdom and domain.
Jesus, thank you for coming to ransom me with your own life. I love you, I worship you, I give myself over to you to be one with you in all things—spirit, soul, and body, heart, mind, and will. I sincerely receive all the work and triumph in your cross, death, blood, and sacrifice, through which my every sin is atoned for, I am ransomed and delivered from the kingdom of darkness and transferred to your kingdom, my sin nature is removed, my heart is circumcised unto God, and every claim being made against me is disarmed this day. I now take my place in your cross and death, dying with you to sin, to my flesh, to this world, to the evil one and his kingdom. I take up the cross and crucify my flesh with all its pride, arrogance, unbelief, and idolatry [and anything else you are currently struggling with]. I put off the old man. Apply to me all the work in your cross, death, blood, and sacrifice. I receive it with thanks and give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.
I bring the blood and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ over my life today, over my home, my family, my household, my vehicles, finances, over all my kingdom and domain. I bring the cross, death, blood, and sacrifice of Jesus Christ against Satan, against his kingdom, against every foul and unclean spirit, every foul power and black art, against every witch, and against every human being and their spirit, their warfare and household. I bring the cross, death, blood, and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ to the borders of my kingdom and domain, and I stake it there in the name of Jesus Christ.
Jesus, I also sincerely receive you as my Life, and I receive all the work and triumph in your resurrection, through which you have conquered sin, death, judgment, and the evil one. Death has no power over you, nor does any foul thing. And I have been raised with you to a new life, to live your life—dead to sin and alive to God. I take my place now in your resurrection and in your life, and I give my life to you to live your life. I am saved by your life. I reign in life through your life. I receive your hope, love, faith, joy, your goodness, trueness, wisdom, power, and strength. Apply to me all the work and triumph in your resurrection; I receive it with thanks and I give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.
I bring the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ over my life today, over my home, my family, my household, my vehicles, finances, over all my kingdom and domain. I bring the resurrection and the empty tomb of Jesus Christ against Satan, against his kingdom, against every foul and unclean spirit, every foul power and black art, against every witch, and against every human being and their spirit, their warfare, and household. I bring the resurrection and the empty tomb of the Lord Jesus Christ to the borders of my kingdom and domain, and I stake it there in Jesus’ name.
Jesus, I also sincerely receive you as my authority, rule, and dominion, my everlasting victory against Satan and his kingdom, and my ability to bring your Kingdom at all times and in every way. I receive all the work and triumph in your ascension, through which Satan has been judged and cast down, and all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to you. All authority in the heavens and on this earth has been given to you, Jesus, and you are worthy to receive all glory and honour, power and dominion, now and forever. I take my place now in your authority and in your throne, through which I have been raised with you to the right hand of the Father and established in your authority. I give myself to you, to reign with you always. Apply to me all the work and triumph in your authority and your throne; I receive it with thanks, and I give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.
I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ over my life today, over my home, my family, my household, my vehicles, finances, over all my kingdom and domain. I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fullness of the work of Christ against Satan, against his kingdom, against every foul and unclean spirit—every ruler, power, authority, and spiritual force of wickedness, their every weapon, claim, and device. [At this point, I specifically name all foul and unclean spirits that I know have been attacking me, such as fear, doubt, accident, injury, death, the religious spirit, pride, arrogance, etc.] I send all foul and unclean spirits bound to the throne of Christ, together with every back-up and replacement, every weapon, claim, and device—by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ and in his name. I command the judgment of the Lord Jesus Christ upon the heads of those that refuse to obey, and I send them to judgment, by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ and in his name.
I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fullness of the work of Christ against every foul power and black art—every hex, vex, and incantation, every spell, weave, web, veil, shroud, charm, and snare; against every ritual, sacrifice, and device; against every vow, dedication, and sacrifice, every word, judgment, and curse—written, spoken, unspoken, or transferred to me. I command them disarmed and broken by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ and in his name.
I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fullness of the work of Christ against every witch, cult, and coven, every channel of black arts to me. I cut them off in the name of the Lord; I send the glory of God to them to turn them in Jesus’ name.
I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fullness of the work of Christ between me and every human being—their spirit, soul, body, their sin, warfare, and their household. I bring the full work of Christ between me and [now I name people I’ve counselled or prayed for, family members, folks in crisis looking to me, etc.]. I command their human spirits bound back to their bodies and their warfare bound to the throne of Christ in their life. I bring the full work of Christ between me and my household and all people, in the authority of Jesus Christ and in his name.
Holy Spirit, thank you for coming. I love you, I worship you, I trust you. I honour you as Lord. I receive all the work and triumph in Pentecost, through which you have come, you have clothed me with power from on high, sealed me in Christ, become my union with the Father and the Son, the Spirit of truth in me, the life of God in me, my counsellor, comforter, strength, and guide. I honour you as Lord, and I fully give to you every aspect and dimension of my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will—to be filled with you, to walk in step with you in all things. Fill me afresh, Holy Spirit. Restore my union with the Father and the Son. Lead me into all truth, anoint me for all of my life and walk and calling, and lead me deeper into Jesus today. I receive you with thanks, and I give you total claim to my life.
Heavenly Father, thank you for granting to me every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. I claim the riches in Christ Jesus over my life today, over my home, my family, my work, over all of my kingdom and domain. I bring the blood of Christ once more over my spirit, soul, and body, over my heart, mind, and will. I put on the full armour of God: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel, helmet of salvation; I take up the shield of faith and sword of the Spirit, and I choose to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of your might, to pray at all times in the Spirit.
Jesus, thank you for your angels. I summon them in the name of Jesus Christ and instruct them to destroy all that is raised against me, to establish your Kingdom over me, to rebuild the shields and hedges of protection around me and my household, and to minister to me your ministry. I ask you to send forth your Spirit to raise up prayer and intercession for me. I now call forth the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ throughout my home, my household, my kingdom, and domain in the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving all glory and honour and thanks to him. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Harare Wants Grace Mugabe Presidency
Harare province (ZANU PF) is demanding Grace Mugabe presidency.
It appears as if it does not rain but pour for Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF camp, as well as the VP’s mooted ambitions to succeed President Robert Mugabe.
Harare became the latest province yesterday to formally agitate for a return of a women’s quota system in the warring ruling party, setting the stage for a stormy meeting when the former liberation movement meets for its annual conference this week.
Bulawayo, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central have already called for the re-incorporation of the women’s quota system in the party’s constitution — which was successfully used to hinder Mnangagwa’s rise to power in 2004.
If the proposal sails through at the party’s conference that is being held in Victoria Falls, it would most likely see Mnangagwa once again paving the way for a woman vice president as he did a decade ago — as the other VP, Phelekezela Mphoko, looks safe as he is the face of the Unity Accord signed between Zapu and Zanu PF in 1987.
The embattled Mnangagwa is said to be currently embroiled in a bitter fight with the ruling party’s ambitious Young Turks, the Generation 40 (G40), in the bitter fight to succeed Mugabe — raising growing fears among his supporters that he may go down in the same manner that former Vice President Joice Mujuru was deposed from power late last year.
To that extent, insiders say this week could prove to be one of the most important and significant periods in the long political life of Mnangagwa as the war to succeed Mugabe gets hotter and nastier by the day.
“We have resolved that as the women’s league, we would want to be well represented at all levels of the party in line with the national constitution,” a Harare provincial executive member told the Daily News yesterday.
Mphoko unexpectedly attended Harare province’s meeting yesterday and is said to have urged it to push for strict discipline in the party “to get rid of rotten apples” that were not supportive of Mugabe.
“Those who are insulting the first lady are insulting the president. When you say she is leading a faction, then you are saying the president is also leading a faction.
“Can you say because I support Mai Mugabe so I am a member of G40 even when I am 40 years? These are the things you must address in your resolutions chairman. Deal with these crimes, the treason that is being committed under the cover of darkness,” Mphoko said.
The decision by the party’s Harare province sets the stage for an explosive conference, amid revelations of plots and counterplots by the two antagonistic camps to outdo each other at the increasingly-important annual gathering.
Plan to Poison President Mugabe
Psychomotor minister, Josaya Hungwe has warned that Mugabe is in grave danger of being poisoned by his ambitious underlings who are impatient to succeed him as the mindless bloodletting in the warring post-congress Zanu PF gets nastier and more confused by the day.
Giving the vote of thanks at First Lady Grace Mugabe’s rally in Gutu last Friday, Hungwe suggested that the ruling party’s seemingly-unstoppable factional and succession wars were now so bad that they could even claim the life of Mugabe.
Giving his spine-chilling vote of thanks, Hungwe — said to be a close Mnangagwa ally — urged Grace to be more vigilant about taking care of her increasingly-frail nonagenarian husband saying there were some bigwigs in the ruling party who hated him so much that they could even poison him.
In that light, he added, Grace needed to make sure that she consistently and thoroughly vetted the people around Mugabe, as well as the source of the food he ate.
“There are those who do not like him (Mugabe). They are many and some will be born tonight. We do not care about them.
“Chatinongokumbira chete amai ndechekuti musarega vachingodya pese pese (All we ask from you mother is that you remain vigilant and mind the food that Mugabe eats for he could be poisoned),” Hungwe warned.
However, he also promised Grace that Mugabe would be protected by his many supporters.
“The people who are here are his supporters. If one Mugabe enemy is born today, his supporters multiply. If one is born tonight, five supporters of his will also be born the same night,” Hungwe opined.
A Zanu PF insider who spoke to the Daily News yesterday said while Hungwe was “a little guilty of overzealous bootlicking”, the ruling party’s unending wars suggested that there was “an unhealthy stampede to succeed Gushungo (Mugabe)”.
“Unfortunately, many of those who are either fighting for the party’s top position or sponsoring their favourite candidates appear as if they are becoming increasingly impatient with the president remaining in office. This can only be destructive to the party and the country.
“It is also for the same reason that some comrades feel that what happened during the official opening of Parliament in August, when the president ended up reading the same speech as the one he presented during his State-of-the-Nation Address, was not a genuine error by officials but a calculated plot by one of the warring factions to expose him (Mugabe) as no longer fit to rule,” the senior Zanu PF official said.
Commenting further on the succession puzzle, the party bigwig said the Constitution of Zimbabwe said if a vacancy arose in the presidency by death, resignation or incapacitation of the incumbent, the political party that was represented by the departing president would have the power to select a replacement within a period of 90 days.
In the interim, the person who was the last acting president would be in charge of the country.
“Recently, the ruling party, in order to comply with the national Constitution resolved that if a vacancy occurs in the office of national president requiring the party to nominate a successor, Zanu PF can hold a congress at the insistence of the secretary for administration,” he said.
Kasukuwere, Mutsvangwa Beat Each Other Up VivaVoc
ZANU PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere and War Veterans minister Christopher Mutsvangwa bashed each other up verbally at the weekend.
ZANU PF infighting degenerated to frightening levels yesterday, with Saviour Kasukuwere and Christopher Mutsvangwa engaging in a bare knuckle verbal fight ahead of the party’s national conference starting in Victoria Falls today.
Kasukuwere demanded Mutsvangwa to account for money that allegedly went missing from the State broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) during his tenure as director-general.
He was quoted by the local Newsday daily. Kasukuwere had apparently been angered by Mutsvangwa’s decision to back Bulawayo war veterans’ call for the national commissar’s post to be reserved for freedom fighters.
“He [Mutsvangwa] can go to hell. Why is he harassing us? He has no title deeds for the war he always talks of. He must account for the money he stole at ZBC,” he said during his address at a meetingwhere Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko was guest of honour.
“We will respect him if he stops attacking us. We are not his children. We have worked well with other war veterans before like the late Chenjerai Hunzvi and others. Why should he continue attacking us when we know he is pushing for a succession agenda? I don’t think the war veterans will accept the nonsense he is doing. Let us work together for the good of this country.”
Contacted for comment, Mutsvangwa said the ZBC issue was dealt with by a competent court of law, challenging Kasukuwere to stop abusing the “institution of marriage” by dragging the First Family whenever he is cornered.
“We will always respect the institution of marriage and he is confused and conflating the institution of marriage and that of the State,” he shot back.
“Clarity of mind is an issue with him. For a country where everybody went to school after independence, he was late to go to school unfortunately. In that dragnet of education made possible by President [Robert] Mugabe and war veterans, he gets left out.”
Mutsvangwa said Kasukuwere had failed as a commissar, adding that since the latter assumed the commissar’s post, Zanu PF had experienced a yawning ideology gap.
“There is a crying poverty of institutional memory in the commissariat department,” he said.
Meanwhile, Harare provincial commissar Shadreck Mashayamombe said the province had resolved to rename the Harare International Airport after Mugabe.
Mashayamombe said the party also resolved to have the quota system, a move that would see a woman being included in the presidium.
“We also resolved that everyone who is heard saying down with G40 be expelled from the party because it’s fanning factionalism.
We resolved that any party member who castigates the leadership on WhatsApp or social media be disciplined. We also resolved that Harare International Airport be named after Mugabe like in South Africa where they have the OR Tambo International Airport named after the late African National Congress leader Oliver Reginald Tambo,” he said.(Newsday/Additional Reporting)
Grace Mugabe Controls Cabinet from Smelly Bedroom Blankets
Former Zanu PF Mashonaland Provincial chairperson Temba Mliswa says First Lady Grace Mugabe has to stop masquerading as a senior to vice-presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko.
Grace on Friday told Zanu PF supporters in Gutu, Masvingo that she was more powerful than both Mnangagwa and Mphoko by virtue of her being the wife of President Robert Mugabe.
Mliswa said Grace’s utterances claiming to be more powerful than members of the presidium posed a serious threat to the country’s constitution as there was nowhere in the charter describing the roles of a First Lady.
“In fact, the constitution does not even recongnise such a position,” said Mliswa, who is also Youth Advocacy for Reform and Democracy (Yard) chairman.
“The First Lady’s utterances were a clear indication that Zimbabwe will end up having important Cabinet decisions being made in the bedroom. This poses a threat to the constitution.”
Last year, former war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda was fired from Zanu PF after he said he would move to block a “bedroom coup” after Grace started moving around campaigning for the ouster of former Vice-President Joice Mujuru.
Mliswa said the campaign against Mujuru and her subsequent ouster had set a wrong precedence, which was why Grace no longer had respect for the country’s vice-presidents.
“That was not respectful. Remember Mujuru’s husband, the late General Solomon Mujuru single-handedly gave Mugabe the powers under the Mgagao and Chimoio declarations. But look at the way Grace campaigned for his wife’s destruction,” he said.
Yard spokesperson Obert Masaraure concurred with Mliswa saying youths were worried about Grace’s utterances.
“As Yard, we are not happy by a bedroom coup muted by the First Lady. We are worried about the trajectory she is taking the country. We are worried that executive decisions will be made in the bedroom. We say Grace must stop it,” Masaraure said.
“We also urge Zanu PF to whip her into line. She is a threat to democratic structures of the country. The First Lady position is not provided for in the constitution and her utterances could cause a constitutional crisis. We recognise the supremacy of the constitution and what Zanu PF is trying to institute through Grace is a serious constitutional crisis.”
Masaraure also said Grace’s claims that Mugabe would rule the country from a wheelchair showed how much she had no regard for the voters as it is voters that should have the final say on whether or not Mugabe should continue to rule. The Standard
Pastor Fondles Daughter’s Private-Parts
A pastor with National Apostolic Church appeared in court last week charged with fondling his 16-year-old daughter’s breasts and private parts.
The pastor was charged with indecent assault when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Takundwa Mtetwa. He will be back in court on December 10 for trial. Allegations are that from August to November this year the pastor fondled the girl’s breasts and private parts whenever they were alone at home.
He would sometimes commit the offence while the girl’s siblings were asleep in their rooms.
The matter came to light when the girl was assaulted by the pastor after she declined to be abused.
It is alleged that this angered the girl who then revealed the matter to her stepmother, brother and other relatives.
The court heard that the pastor continued assaulting his daughter for exposing him. The girl alerted an uncle and the case was reported to the police leading to the pastor’s arrest.-State Media
Mnangagwa MP Flees Angry Mob as Violence Rocks Zanu PF
By Tinoonga Mawere, Masvingo| Senior Zanu PF provincial official and Masvingo West MP, Ezra Chadzamira last week fled from angry party supporters at Mashava after the mob accused him of rigging district elections .
Chadzamira who is regarded as one of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s key allies allegedly rigged the elections in favour of pro-Mnangagwa elements . The MP who has been at the centre of Zanu PF factional battles, has reportedly dumped his constituency to fight in Mnangagwa’s corner .While members of his constituency are facing starvation, Chadzamira is reportedly sponsoring factional wars in the province in a bid to strengthen the Mnangagwa camp.
According to reports From Mashava angry Grace Mugabe supporters blocked Chadzamira’s exit after the elections, demanding the nullification the polls .He was then whisked away by Masvingo Provincial Commissar Jeppy Jaboon, with the angry mob in pursuit .
“There was chaos in Mashava during the district polls when Chadzamira presided over the process .Chadzamira had to flee from the venue of the polls because the angry mob wanted to beat him up.The MP is sponsoring factional wars and he is very close to Mnangagwa so these guys are building a strong camp in Masvingo.
They are already strategising for Mnangagwa but it is not going to be easy although they virtually control the province ,”said a Zanu PF provincial official.
The Zanu PF intra-party violence has intensified days before the party’s annual conference scheduled for Victoria Falls . Although some provinces have endorsed President Robert Mugabe as the party’s presidential candidate for 2018 ,it is understood Masvingo Province fully backs the midlands godfather to replace the visibly tired Mugabe who nearly fell down again in India last month . Masvingo Province is also opposing Grace Mugabe’s presidential aspirations .
Boy Kills Mum
A 19-year-old Gweru man is said to have gone berserk last Thursday and stabbed his mother five times in the chest with a kitchen knife, killing her instantly. He also ran over and killed a pedestrian instantly in Norton as he fled to Harare.
Reports are that after he killed his mother, Kudakwashe Ashley Sibanda locked her body in the house, stole her car and went on a drinking spree before fleeing to Harare.
Officer Commanding Gweru District Chief Superintendent Elias Chivandire confirmed the tragic incident.
The mother has been identified as Barbra Sibanda of 11 Stanley Street, Southdowns.
“I can confirm that police in Gweru are investigating a murder case where on December 3 this year a 19-year-old male adult allegedly killed his mother by stabbing her five times on the left side of the chest inflicting deep lacerations. He locked the house and took his mother’s Nissan Bluebird Sedan vehicle and fled to Harare. While on his way he knocked down a pedestrian in Norton and the victim died on the spot,” he said.
Sibanda’s body was discovered by a neighbour on Saturday morning.
“The matter came to light on Saturday when a neighbour and family friend Chounlai Chindanga went and checked on Barbra but found the door locked. He became suspicious and tried calling her but she was not picking up (the calls). He alerted the police who then broke into the house and found Sibanda’s body in the lounge lying in a pool of blood. He informed the police that when he last heard from Barbra she was quarrelling with Kudakwashe,” said Chief Supt Chivandire.
Police launched an investigation and were tipped that the suspect had been spotted in Mbare. They arrested him in the suburb.
“The suspect is in police custody assisting with investigations. He will appear in court soon. The body of the deceased will be taken to Bulawayo for post-mortem tomorrow (today),” he said.
According to neighbours, Kudakwashe often stole money from his mother and went for drinking sprees.
“When he committed the crime he took his mother’s vehicle, went and picked up his girlfriend with whom he attended a series of wild parties. While on the drinking spree Kudakwashe’s girlfriend inadvertently divulged to friends that he had killed his mother. He then went back home and packed his clothes and left for Harare,” said a neighbour who claimed he had earlier attempted to kill his mother with a kitchen knife while she was asleep.
Kudakwashe was actually on bail after stealing $900 from a tenant.
“He dropped out of school last year when he was expelled for stealing at Thornhill High School. He stole money from fellow pupils and also stole teachers’ vehicles, going for joy rides with friends,” added the neighbour.-State Media
Chinamasa Defends Tiny Health Budget
Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa says Budget allocations to the health sector have quadrupled in the past seven years from $78,8 million to $330,8 million.
Addressing delegates attending a session on domestic financing for health during the 18th International Conference on Aids and STIs in Africa (ICASA), Minister Chinamasa said Government was prioritising health in a bid to revitalise the public health delivery system.
Zimbabwe’s public health delivery system suffered its worst in 2008 when most institutions came close to shutting down due to massive staff exodus and shortage of drugs.
“The Budget has been progressively earmarking resources towards the revitalisation of health infrastructure, targeting rural health centres, district, provincial and central hospitals,” said Minister Chinamasa.
Budget allocations in support of infrastructure development averaged around $25 million a year between 2009 and 2016.
The minister said the Government was keen to improve the capacity of the public health delivery system through training and deployment of health workers and so numbers of Government health workers increased from 22 888 in February 2009 to 26 925 in October 2015.
“Domestic financing for HIV, anchored on the AIDS levy collections together with support from development partners which currently accounts for 85 percent of the total funding, have led to the attainment of positive results,” said Minister Chinamasa.
He said Aids levy collections have also grown progressively since the advent of the multi-currency regime in 2009.
The Aids levy has grown from $5,7 million collections in 2009 to about $38,7 million in 2014.
As of October this year, $24,2 million had been collected from the Aids levy.
Minister Chinamasa said treatment, care and support was receiving the biggest chunk of financial resources accounting for 78 percent of the collections.
Commenting on the National Budget, Community Working Group on Health executive director Mr Itai Rusike said although the health allocation was increasing over the years, it remained far from meeting the global commitment agreed in Abuja.
It was agreed in Abuja to allocate the health sector 15 percent of the National Budget.
This year’s allocation accounts for 9,7 percent of the National Budget.
“In terms of the Abuja target, this is clearly a statistic that has lacked consistency over the years,” said Mr Rusike.
He said considering the fact that the 2016 Budget was crafted in an environment of a very tight fiscal space, ministries should spend within their means.
“Given the static nature of the budget, the clear message coming from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development was that of encouraging the ministries to spend within their means,” he said. herald
Highlanders Beats Dynamos 2-1
Highlanders . . . . . . . . . (1) 2
Dynamos . . . . . . . . . . . . (0) 1
NINE years after they last beat the old enemy, Highlanders finally found a way to overcome Dynamos in a competitive game when they powered their way into the Easycall Cup final at Barbourfields yesterday.
Bosso last beat Dynamos in August 2006 when they were under the guidance of Methembe Ndlovu.
But two classy first half goals from Obadiah Tarumbwa and Knox Mutizwa were all that Highlanders needed to dispatch their perennial rivals from the Easycall Cup in yesterday’s second semi-final match at Barbourfields.
In the first semi-final on Saturday, Premiership champions Chicken thumped CAPS United 3-0 and with Bosso winning at the same venue yesterday, all is now set for an all-Bulawayo final.
Backed by their lively and vociferous fans, Highlanders deservedly shot into the lead through Tarumbwa in the sixth minute.
Tarumbwa coolly slotted the ball past Dynamos goalkeeper and Castle Lager Most Promising Young Player of the Year Tatenda Mukuruva from close range.
Bosso had settled quicker than their opponents and were always first on the ball, winning most duels.
Simon Munawa, Nqobizitha Masuku, Rahman Kutsanzira and Valentine Ndaba did a great job of suffocating the Dynamos midfield.
Tarumbwa made the most of a Ndaba weak goal bound shot, which he intercepted with Dynamos centre-backs Elisha Muroiwa and Augustine Mbara ball watching before beating a hapless Mukuruva.
Dynamos tried to come back quickly but were denied by Bosso goalie Ariel Sibanda, whose performance has dramatically improved since the coming in of interim head coach Amini Soma-Phiri and interim technical director Cosmas Zulu after Week 21.
In the 10th minute, an overlapping Blessing Moyo got to the end of a Rodreck Mutuma through ball and connected with a volley that was parried for a corner by Sibanda.
Bosso quickly regrouped and took firm control of the game. They were unlucky not to increase their lead in the 18th minute when Mutizwa beat Mbara at the byline and cutback to Ndaba, whose shot was blocked for a corner.
From the resultant corner, Erick Mudzingwa’s header was cleared off the goal-line by Carlos Rusere.
A quick counter-attack after Dynamos had failed to make use of a corner kick gifted Bosso their second goal in the 32nd minute. Tarumbwa, who picked the ball from the blind side, sent a long pass to Mutizwa, who beat Muroiwa to come face-to-face with Mukuruva, whom he beat with a delightful dink, torching wild celebrations from the Bosso players and fans.
Highlanders had a penalty appeal turned down by Harare referee Ruzive Ruzive a minute before half-time when Muroiwa blocked a cross from Kutsanzira with his hand.
Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya made a bold decision, pulling out defender and captain Mbara for winger Masimba Mambare two minutes before the break.
DeMbare returned from the breather fired up and were all over their opponents as Highlanders sat back, probably hoping to catch their opponents on the counter, but Dynamos never gave them such room to manoeuvre.
Bosso could have gone 3-0 up but Tarumbwa’s 48th minute cracker was punched out for a corner by Mukuruva.
After that, it was all DeMbare, with Highlanders desperately holding on.
Ronald Chitiyo dribbled past three Highlanders players and hit a grounder that Sibanda saved in the 50th minute.
Seven minutes later, Bosso’s resilience was breached when Moyo sent in a long pass targeting an overlapping Mushure, who raced past Highlanders’ right-back Tendai Ngulube, played the ball to Mutuma, who had the simplest task of tapping into an empty net as Sibanda had miscalculated to rush out in an attempt to cut the ball before it reached Mushure.
The goal gave DeMbare hope, but Bosso held on, although there were a number of nail-biting moments for their fans.
Mutizwa should have killed off the match in the 77th minute after getting to the end of a Tarumbwa pass, but the country’s 2015 top marksman took long to shoot and the DeMbare defenders closed him down in the box.
Then came the moment of madness that spoiled a good semi-final in the 88th minute when Mutuma kicked Matema in an off the ball incident and referee Ruzive gave the indisciplined Dynamos forward a straight red card while the Bosso man was shown a yellow.
On his way to the dressing room, Mutuma charged at Matema and spat onto the Bosso striker’s face.
Tarumbwa, who had been substituted, had a go at Mutuma from the touchline and earned a yellow card too.

Amazing Miracle: Zim Scientist Strikes Again: “Leg Chop Off” Reversed Instantly
Surrey, UK- Zimbabwean scientist Moses Murandu has struck again, this time with the shocking healing of a woman with 15-year-old ulcers whose amputation has now been dramatically reversed.
Last week saw, the elderly woman (son and daughter pictured), whose right leg would have been chopped off by now, being announced to by her local doctor that the previously scheduled amputation on her right leg has since been reversed due to a phenomenal recovery through Murandu’s revolutionary Medsugar method. ZimEye.com witnessed a senior practitioner at St Peters Hospital breaking the news, “we shall now do a bypass,” because the wounds have had a sudden boost of a healthy flesh build over where the wounds once were.
The wounds started way back in 2000 and ever since then worsened while also throwing a pungent stench that over the years used to fill the whole house, her daughter Shelly Davies told ZimEye.com.
It was by some luck that sometime in September, Shelley bumped into Murandu’s news articles on the internet that she contacted him, and the rest was history. A simple applying of Murandu’s Medsugar dressing led to the wounds’ healing up in a matter of a few days.
Shelly told reporters her mother “had ulcers on both left and right legs. We found the articles on Moses, and I decided I would give a try on my mum, I have nothing to lose.
“And so here we are 6, 7 weeks down the road and her ulcers are healing and she is no longer going to have an amputation,” she said.
The mother adding her own voice, said she now wants the British government to promptly “consider the Medsugar method for the NHS (National Health Service) as this will save a lot money.” VIDEO LOADING….
Over 70 such patients have been healed through Murandu’s procedure over the last 5 years. VIDEO :

Army Captain Admits Plans to Topple Mugabe
Captain Albert Matapo EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
He was arrested for treason, and then was shut in at Chikurubi Maximum prison for 7 years.
When they arrested him, at first they said he was being charged for dealing in foreign currency. That allegation soon changed to the high crime of Treason which led him to stay in the maximum prison for nearly 10 years without a single trial for the said charge. Now living in the diaspora away from Robert Mugabe, Captain Albert Matapo has been named in court for allegedly assisting jailed Pastor Robert Gumbura to carry out a coup from the preacher’s prison cell.
Questions Matapo answers in the below interview are among others:
– When was the last time you talked with Robert Gumbura?
– You have been trying to topple President Mugabe?
– Are you still connected with the security system in Zim? How can we trust you to be a civilian like one of us?
– Tell us about your encounters with Robert Mugabe since independence and in particular why he would be interested in destroying you and you alone…
– Do you think Gumbura is guilty of rape ?

Hell Breaks Loose on Goche as Police Probe $3m Fuel Scam
Hell has broken loose on Former Transport minister Nicholas Goche who has been sucked into the mystery surrounding the disappearance of $3 million belonging to the government-owned Central Mechanical Equipment Department (CMED).
Goche was last year accused of plotting to kill President Robert Mugabe while siding with Joice Mujuru.
Evidence presented to investigators probing the theft of the money also says the President’s Office knew about Goche’s alleged involvement but made efforts to protect him for political reasons.
Goche is one of the many ministers that were booted out of Cabinet and fired from Zanu PF last year on allegations of plotting to overthrow President Robert Mugabe.
According to documents of a disciplinary hearing which led to the firing of CMED managing director Davison Mhaka this week, the President’s Office knew, through its investigations, that Goche allegedly had a hand in the misappropriation of the money but chose to protect him.
A 470-page document that carries minute detail of the $3 million scandal where government paid for fuel which was never delivered, was obtained by The Standard last week.
According to the document, the government is alleged to have roped in Goodwills Masimirembwa as the parastatal’s board chair sometime in June last year, in an alleged effort to kill incriminating evidence that would have led to the prosecution of senior government officials involved in the matter.
In his evidence during the disciplinary hearing, Mhaka told the committee that he was being sacrificed in the matter after refusing to take orders from Masimirembwa to falsely incriminate fuels manager, one Brian Manjengwa, who was being falsely accused of colluding with First Oil directors to swindle CMED.
Mhaka said Masimirembwa drafted a statement on his behalf with the intention of incriminating Manjengwa on the basis that the latter “was a problem” and ought to go, and when he refused to play ball, Mhaka said: “As a result of that, he was very much irritated, I got a vitriolic letter.”
Asked by his lawyer what efforts he made to establish the whereabouts of the CMED cash, Mhaka said he attempted to meet Mugabe himself.
“I went to a number of offices. I highlighted that I went to the president’s chief secretary’s office,” he said.
“I went to the office of (then Transport) minister Obert Mpofu who had come in….I went to see the director-general again but I couldn’t come up with anything in terms of where exactly the money was.
“I also went to the State House as I highlighted. Well, the first intention was to present my report to his Excellency, the president, but I couldn’t.
“I ended up discussing with the principal director, Dr Tizora, of the State House, who then highlighted some of the issues which disturbed me, which eventually became reality.”
Mhaka said Tizora showed him a copy of a document which had already been authored to the effect that he [Mhaka[ was going to be suspended sometime in August this year and that his suspension would open “a Pandora’s box”.
He added: “Dr Tizora said to me, ‘look, we know what is happening. The information that we have is that the Gula-Ndebele report was meant to protect Nick,’ and then I said to him, ‘who is Nick?’ and then he said to me, ‘Nick refers to former Minister of Transport, the Honourable NT Goche’.”
Efforts to contact Goche for comment were fruitless up to the time of publication.
Asked if he had any indications of where the money was, Mhaka said he had information which he obtained from a businessman, one Nkululeko Sibanda, who sent him a text message saying he had been called by Goche to his farm.
“He went to his farm and when he came back he indicated to me ‘I have been sent to South Africa. Mhaka, South Africa, that’s where your money went’. I did not believe him at that time. On Friday he flew to South Africa,” Mhaka said.
While in South Africa, Mhaka said Sibanda phoned him saying: “I have got the gentlemen who has your money and his name is Daniel Roscheffer.” When he asked him how much it was, Sibanda allegedly said he had seen a statement of $2 360 000.
Mhaka said bearing in mind CMED had transferred $2,7 million, he told Sibanda the money was not the amount they were looking for but he later decided to find out with his office.
“When I was told that it was $2 360 000, I phoned the fuels manager to check the transfer copies and he confirmed to me that what actually went on the telegraphic transfer, the copies from the bank was $2 360 000, I was taken aback,” he said.
Early this year, CMED filed a lawsuit against First Oil and its directors, Maxwell William Katunga, Lynon Gilbert Katunga, Alex Kudakwashe Mahuni, Gavin Allen Katunga, Mhaka and Manjengwa accusing them of swindling the government in a botched fuel deal.
But when the matter was taken to court and in a bid to clear its name, First Oil carried out investigations and established that instead, the cash was allegedly embezzled by ZB Bank, its finance director Phanuel Kapanje and Kiliana Bangure.
“The first defendant [First Oil] hereby prays for a stay of the present action pending the third party joinder of ZB Bank Limited, Phanuel Kapanje and Kiliana Bangure under rule 93 of this court’s rules,” First Oil said in its supplementary heads.
“These persons must indemnify the 1st defendant from any judgement that this court may enter against the 1st defendant.”
In its narration of events, First Oil said prior to the agreement with CMED on the fuel deal, it had never banked with ZB Bank but it opened an account with the financial institution at the instigation of the government-owned institution as the provider of funding in a structured finance arrangement.
The firm said it later transferred, through ZB Bank, $2,7 million into its account with the same bank at the Avondale branch and gave the institution strict instructions not to release the cash to fuel suppliers until given the greenlight to do so, but ZB Bank acted otherwise.
“The first defendant executed an MT 103/23 instruction to ZB Bank Limited to transfer $2 360 000 to Micro Petroleum Inc in Hong Kong as the purchase price of the plaintiff’s diesel consignment. The effect of the instruction was that the bank would not release the money until confirmation of the satisfaction of the terms of the contract covered by the structured finance agreement,” First Oil said.
“ZB Bank Limited deliberately ignored the MT 103/23 requirement to await confirmation of delivery and effected an EFT transfer and immediately effected transfer to Micro Petroleum Inc.”
The firm said ZB Bank allegedly ignored the MT 103/23 instruction because Kapanje and Bangure had an existing arrangement with one Richard David Myburgh of South Africa, “to defraud” First Oil of the funds.
The matter is pending at the High Court.(State Media /Additional Reporting)
ZRP Cop Abducted, Beaten Up By Family
THE father and relatives of a Lower Gweru Mission Secondary School pupil who mysteriously went missing for five days went berserk and kidnapped a police officer who was last seen with the pupil before assaulting the officer-in-charge of Maboleni Police Station. The incident occurred on Wednesday last week when an 18-year-old Upper Sixth pupil was taken to the police by his Science teacher, a Mr Mpofu, after he allegedly broke a windowpane at school worth 80 cents.
He was later released by police and sent back to school but went missing for five days.
Police officer commanding Midlands Province Senior Assistant Commissioner Abigail Moyo confirmed that there was a report of a missing person at Lower Gweru Mission.
“Police at Maboleni have received a report of a young offender who committed the offence of malicious damage to property where he broke a windowpane valued at US$0,80 at school. Following the report an informal pre-trial diversion was conducted by the police. This was done taking into cognisance the fact that the law provides that the police are entitled to divert minor cases by cautioning the offender without resorting to criminal proceedings,” she said.
After the pupil was released, he went back to school where he looked for Mr Mpofu but failed to locate him.
According to the pupil, he felt thirsty and decided to drink water from a tap at school and he disappeared before “finding himself in the middle of a forest”.
“The boy claims that he literary disappeared while drinking water before finding himself in the middle of a forest where he wandered for five days while seeing strange things.
Earlier he had taken his colleague’s mobile phone at school using supernatural powers raising suspicion that they could be acts of Satanism,” said an eye witness.
The boy’s father from Nembudziya in Gokwe, who was fuming while speaking to Sunday News, said his child went missing on 25 November while at school.
After the incident, the parents found the investigating officer who was last seen with him, a Sergeant Chinyowa, manning a roadblock along Gweru-Lower Gweru road and kidnapped him demanding their child.
They proceeded to Maboleni Police Station where they manhandled an Assistant Inspector Maburuste and tore his uniform.
“Mr Dematema who was in the company of his twin brother, brother and sister-in-law assaulted two police officers at the station,” said a police source.
The child was later taken to a relative’s house in Senga by a passerby who found him wandering in the forest and was brought to police on Thursday where he narrated what had transpired.
Grace Mugabe Takes Over Presidency Anytime
- …Simply rolling over to other side of bed straight into Presidential power.
First Lady Grace Mugabe is taking over from her husband anytime from now, vivid projections show.
The latest pointers show that after eight rallies across the country’s provinces in a whirlwind campaign, clearly similar to her blitz against ousted Vice-President Joice Mujuru, Grace is now rolling over to the other side of her bed straight into Presidential power.
This comes even though she might not have been prepared for the roller-coaster ride in Masvingo on Friday.
Click on the red spots in map, ZOOM in to peruse the activity data from Grace Mugabe’s rallies:
That rally falls exactly a year after her epic and vitriolic campaign function last year when she denounced former Vice President Joice Mujuru soon before the latter was kicked out of the ZANU PF party.
The moment of truth arrived when Zanu PF women’s league secretary for administration Esphinah Nhari threw the cat among the pigeons. She chanted the slogan, “Pasi neG40” at Grace’s final rally at Mushayavanhu High School in Gutu.
One of Grace’s known enforcers, Sarah Mahoka, would have none of it and demanded that Nhari explain what G40 [a Zanu PF faction believed to be behind Grace’s audacious bid for the presidency] was.
The brawl drew in Masvingo Provincial Affairs minister Shuvai Mahofa, who used strong language to reprimand Mahoka.
Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko trained his guns on Nhari, bizarrely claiming that saying there was a G40 faction in Zanu PF was an indirect attack on President Robert Mugabe.
“As a leader, assist the First Lady,” he thundered. “You were so close to disrupting the rally but you have no evidence of what G40 is.”
The televised fracas was probably the first time the simmering war in the women’s league exploded in public since Grace took over from Oppah Muchinguri a year ago.
Her elevation was ostensibly engineered to unite the fractious Zanu PF, as vultures circled over her ageing husband, but the fissures in the women’s league show she has a long way to go.
The divisions have become more pronounced in Manicaland where a faction linked to Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa and another alligned to G40 have left the league paralysed.
University of Zimbabwe political science lecturer Eldred Masunungure said the widening factionalism in the women’s league was an indictment on Grace’s leadership qualities.
“Grace had an ambition to unify the party, but has been betrayed by her manner and style of doing things,” he said.
“She is belligerent, combative and angry, as well as too aggressive in her approach.
“It would have rather been better for her to be diplomatic and not side with any of the factions.”
Grace has tried to dissociate herself from the two factions fighting for control of the party in the post-Mugabe era, but her attacks against war veterans has led to speculation she is backing G40.
Masunungure said Grace had failed to hide her ambitions to succeed Mugabe, hence her inability to unite the Zanu PF factions.
“While she is now trying to claim she has no ambition to lead the party and government, it is too late,” he said.
“The party is now more fractured than it was before she came along.
“Her personality and style is not one of reconciliation and this is why we have seen a further deterioration of the situation.
“Grace has alienated the very constituencies she is supposed to bring together.
“These groups have justifiable interests and she was supposed to play mother to all of them, instead of condemning any of them. She has actually compounded the problem.”
Masunungure said Grace might also have been blinded by growing ambition.
“The problem with power is that once you get a morsel, you want more.
“It is like money, the imperative is to seek for more. It does not agree to the economic imperative of diminishing returns.
“While at the beginning she did not realise the kind of power that was being thrust upon her, as she got along, suddenly there is a realisation that there actually is a launchpad for the ultimate prize.
“However, I think that would be a grave mistake on her part.
“The best she can do is to have a strong say in who takes over after Mugabe. Be the king or queen maker as it were,” he said.
But Harare-based political commentator Takura Zhangazha said Grace’s intention was to stop, not to unite factions.
“I do not think that in the aftermath of the Mujuru debacle, Grace has been more divisive,” he said.
“I think she has just tried to assert her authority as boss of the women’s league on the understanding that she had capacity to influence the direction Zanu PF could take.
“However, there was a danger of negative reaction to such moves by a person who is not the leader of the party.
“But we must admit she has put everyone in Zanu PF on their toes and they are now guarded as regards their quest for power,” Zhangazha said.
He agreed that Grace had largely failed in her mission to unite the ruling party, which has been divided by Mugabe’s reluctance to pass the baton.
“I think her intention was not to unite factions, but to prevent them and then get people to gather around her,” Zhangazha said.
“But because of the statements she has made relating to succession, she indeed has failed in this regard.
“Her toning down is an indication that she has become aware of her limitations.”
Meanwhile, Grace Mugabe has said her husband may choose her as his successor when the 91-year-old leader decides to leave office.
“I cannot be counted out,” Grace (50), told the Masvingo rally. “President Mugabe has the prerogative of choosing his successor.”
Her statement appeared to contradict remarks she made at a November 20 rally that she had no presidential ambitions.
Zimbabwe is scheduled to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in 2018.
Known by her critics as the “First Shopper” and “Gucci Grace,” — owing to her extravagant lifestyle — Grace has built support among the G40 faction because most of them are in their 40s and played no role in Zimbabwe’s war for independence.
Her main adversary in a run for the top job is Mnangagwa, who previously served as State security and Defence minister.
Doubts about Mugabe’s competence increased in September when he read the wrong speech at the opening of Parliament without realising he had delivered the same address a week earlier.
Zimbabwe’s economy is stagnating, with slumping consumer demand pushing the country into deflation and 83% of government expenditure going to civil servant wages.
“Given the level of factionalism in Zanu PF, there is no force strong enough to oust him,” said Mark Rosenberg, Africa director at New York-based Eurasia Group.
“If he doesn’t die in office and he steps down beforehand, he will try to control the process as much as possible and will probably succeed.”
Zimbabwe faces its worst economic crisis since its virtual collapse in 2008, when inflation soared to 500 billion percent, prompting the government to abandon its currency in favour of the use of foreign exchange including the US dollar in early 2009.
Mugabe has become increasingly frail, often needing help to walk. Should he realise his frailty, analysts say, he may decide to empower his wife’s G40 allies, which would still bolster her chances of succeeding her husband.
The lifestyles of members of the G40 group, characterised by mansions and sports cars, make them unpopular in a nation where about 72,3% of the people live on less than $1,25 a day, according to the United Nations Development Programme.
For her part, beyond her husband, Grace must win over the military — a task complicated by the fact that she has no struggle credentials. The military won’t readily contradict Mugabe while he’s alive. — Additional reporting by Bloomberg/Standard
Mugabe Blows $33mln Globetrotting In 9months Alone
Foreign trips by President Robert Mugabe and his cabinet have gobbled more than US$33 million between January and September 2015 which is more than what has been spent in the same period by key ministries like Industry and Commerce.
The ministries are critical to the revival of the country’ economy ravaged by liquidity constraints, company closures and job losses.
Figures from the 2016 budget statement show that much more is being spent funding Mugabe’s foreign trips compared to what is allocated to economic ministries which should be spearheading the country’s economic revival efforts.
Actual figures of expenditure up to September 2015 outlined in the estimates of expenditure, referred to as the “Blue Book” by Chinamasa, show that Mugabe’s office spent US$33 270 491 on foreign trips, overshooting the budgeted US$27 446 000.
This does not take into account Mugabe’s trips to India, Turkey and most recently France.
This exceeds by almost three times the US$11 817 053 spent by the ministry of Industry and Commerce, a ministry that is expected to spearhead the revival of the manufacturing sector hard hit by low capacity utilisation, which now stands at 34,3%, company collapses and power cuts, during the same period.
Mugabe is known for globe-trotting even when the country is burning. This year, he made several trips to the Far East and within Africa, gobbling millions at a time Treasury is hard-up. Mugabe has among his jaunts been to Japan, Russia, United States, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Algeria and South Africa this year.
What Mugabe spent on foreign trips is nearly 10 times than what the ministry of Mines’ expenditure of US$3 487 584 up to September this year.
The money spent on trips abroad also exceeds that spent by the ministries of Small to Medium Enterprises, Tourism and Transport combined.
The President’s Office spent a total of US$156 621 766 for the first nine months of the year, of which US$10 563 414 was splurged on rentals and hire expenses.
Another US$47 281 627 was spent on goods and services with US$1 811 303 spent on maintenance.
Economist and MDC-T MP for Bulawayo South Eddie Cross said the amount of money spent on foreign travel by Mugabe’s office is disproportionate to meagre funds available which should be channelled to other critical obligations.
“The expenses on travel show an administration which completely cows to the President. Whatever funds the President demands, he gets no matter how much there is available,” Cross said.
He noted that the amount spent on trips is excessive considering how broke the government is as evidenced by their failure to adequately fund vital programmes such as the fight against corruption and the Basic Education Assistance Module, meant to fund the education of under-privileged children.
The failure by government to adequately fund Beam has resulted in thousands of children dropping out of school.
“There is need of a bit of belt tightening by the President but the question is who shall rein him in?” Cross said. Zimbabwe Independent
Mphoko Dying with Mugabe
Dear Editor,
In our pursuit for a Free and and Independent Mthwakazi we vow not to live a stone on top of the other and we wonder if surely Mphoko will die with Mugabe and we wonder that, if Mugabe happen to commit suicide will he follow the suit? Having massacred our people and denouncing the independence of Mthwakazi makes Mugabe a Mthwakazi state enermy and we wonder if Mphoko associate himself with such crimes we level against Mugabe.
If that is the case then a Ndebele saying says, ”umvundla utshaywa nesikhundla” and there’s no way one can strike a hare without destroying its nest. Therefore as a front we would like to warn Mphoko to guard against being an enermy of Mthwakazi because just like he vowed to Mugabe that he will die along side him, we took a vow as well that no matter who stands in our way shall fall.
So being a Mthwakazi will not provide any security to him to survive our wrath if he shields an enermy. Mpoko should know that by standing by Mugabe and vowing to die with him makes him an enermy of Mthwakazi and a stumbling block that has to be rolled over.
We vowed as MLF to destroy what ever stands on our way-be it a person or a system. Therefore he must guard his mouth lest he provokes our wrath. How many times does he need the Zezurus to denounce him in order to really open his eyes and senses to see that they really hate him? It is crystal clear ukuthi uzama ukuzisikela ehwahweni kodwa angalokothi akhohlwe ukuthi umlilo wesela kawothiwa -we are clearly watching him.

More Subjects for Grade 7 Exams, Govt Announces
Grade 7 final examination candidates will soon write more than four subjects under the new education curriculum, which, among other innovations, demands “thorough” aptitude testing.
Multiple choice questions will be reduced, while continuous assessments and practical examination scores will constitute a significant percentage of the final mark.
The curriculum comes aboard in 2016, and the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry has already directed the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council to action it.
This dispensation has Grades 3-7 pupils compulsorily adopting nine key learning areas, among them Physical Education, Mass Displays and Sport, Visual and Performing Arts, Science and Technology and Heritage studies.
Mathematics, English, Ndebele and Shona remain in the mix, with pupils being examined on all learning areas come Grade 7. Primary and Secondary Education Minister Dr Lazarus Dokora
told The Sunday Mail: “The way examinations are structured will change. We do have expression to what the children are learning and we cannot produce that in four (examined areas).
“Four is what the current curriculum is anticipating. We have given Zimsec the task to look at the framework and see how the exam plan can be worked out. Of course, it will carry a lot of the learner’s profile record, and continuous assessment will be factored
in.”
He continued: “Certainly, there will be broader inclusion; all learning areas will be reflected in the examinations. We have moved a long way from the traditional Grade 7 examinations. If you compare the previous junior school module and the current one, (you will realise) that they are different.
“The current module has expanded. So, we want an examination that assesses these children who are transitioning from junior school to secondary school. The learning areas ought to be examined and none of them are optional. We expect students to be thoroughly examined at the end of the module.”
Dr Dokora said Government wanted to mould all-rounders.
“There is inclusion of Physical Education and Sport, and (pupils) cannot (opt) out. No one will say ‘I am a Science person, therefore, I will not be involved in any sporting activities’.
“We had created a very bad culture for our children; for children to opt out and only those interested in sports will be involved in sport.
“Thus, Sport and Physical Education will be compulsory. Every child must have a sport.”
Respected educationist Professor Caiphas Nziramasanga — who led the 1999 Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Education and Training — said public examinations should be scrapped altogether.
“I do not see any reason for national examinations. I think we should only concentrate on school-based examinations as they are more informative and truer.
“Headmasters and teachers assess students through written assignments, and they know how these students perform. This reflects a better picture of the children’s performance.”
Another educationist, Dr Peter Kwaira, said: “We have a new curriculum that will be introduced soon, thus we need a new way of assessing and examining students. As long as the approach is good, children will not be affected.
“Children of today are flexible due to various technological gadgets that have been introduced into their everyday lives. They are developing at a very fast rate. There shouldn’t be a mismatch between the curriculum and examining methods. Therefore, changing the examination structure is very appropriate.”
From 1990, Zimbabwe has been refining education quality following its massive school expansion programme in the first decade of Independence under the Education For All policy.
The “quality reforms” also focused on curriculum relevance.
In 2014-15, Government primed the primary and secondary school curricula for needs-driven education to prepare learners for life and work.
The approach emphasises Mathematics, Science and Technology, Vocational Training, Humanities and Heritage studies — all compulsory throughout.
This framework is based on the 1999 Nziramasanga Report, which recommended leveraging economic and industrial development through practical subjects.
Part of the report reads, “Many people were not happy with the Grade 7 examinations and
wanted them abolished. In place of such examinations, they suggested that primary schools should provide information on pupils when they go to secondary school.
“This comprehensive profile, to accompany the child to secondary school, should state all the achievements and abilities developed by each child at primary school level. This assessment should not be left to Grade 7.”
It also says: “The Grade 7 examinations should be replaced by comprehensive school-based examinations which are recorded, and accompanied by a comprehensive end of primary school report. Respondents said that a seven-year cycle of education is inadequate on the grounds of the age of the children, and its capacity to equip pupils with useful life skills.
“The Commission believes that every child has a right to this basic education. In the Commission’s view, that nine years of basic education will equip children with literacy, numeracy and practical skills.
‘‘Earliest experiences of learning have immeasurable effects on an individual’s future. If the foundation has deficiencies, it will be difficult to remedy the situation
“. . . The Commission agrees with the arguments advanced by parents and teachers that vocational subjects be re-introduced at the basic education level. Children should spend more time outside the classroom than inside it. That is to say, in addition to literacy and numeracy, there is also need to pay attention to operacy or the skill of doing things.”
Countries like China have similar models prioritising Mathematics, Pure Science, Technology and Gymnastics at primary school level.
Mnangagwa to Be Expelled?
Mnangagwa, Mphoko Jaunt ZANU PF Indaba Venue
As Vice-Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko toured the 15th Zanu-PF Annual National People’s Conference venue yesterday, expressing satisfaction with preparations, rumours flared that Mnangagwa is going to be axed following the indaba.
This came as First Lady Grace Mugabe for the first time in history this week shoved herself forward as Mnangagwa’s senior attacking journalists who had written and published the contrary. This was all during her crusade whirlwind….
Click on the red spots in map, ZOOM in to peruse the activity data from Grace Mugabe’s rallies:
As analysts speculated that Mrs Mugabe is now certain to rise to the Presidium, it was revealed the conference is titled, “Consolidating People’s Power Through Zim-Asset.”
The indaba is beginning tomorrow at Elephant Hills Golf Course from December 7-13, 2015.
The Politburo sitting in Harare tomorrow is the one the public say is going to be defining.
“All this while Grace has been saying she is below Mnangagwa but on Thursday she opened the mystery surrounding these meet the people crusades which is the presidium”, Perry Mukwena wrote on Saturday.
Two recent videos of Mugabe cousin Phillip Chiyangwa praising Grace as the right President (successor) throw hints on Mrs Mugabe’s said rise to the Presidency.
Meanwhile the State Media reported that the VPs were in Victoria Falls at the invitation of Grace Mugabe supporter and G40 member, the party Secretary for Administration and conference co-ordinator Ignatius Chombo. They received organising committee reports and then went around the venue — occasionally hand-in-hand — and cracking jokes.
The accompanying party comprised Politburo members Simon Khaya Moyo, Cain Mathema, Kembo Mohadi, Jacob Mudenda, Sithokozile Mathuthu, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and Obert Mpofu, among other officials.
VP Mnangagwa said the conference will focus on 2014 Congress resolutions and review Zim-Asset implementation.
“The chairman of the co-ordinating committee, Chombo, invited my colleague and I to come and see progress made by sub-committees in preparation for the conference.
“We are highly impressed by the degree of progress in all sectors. We are satisfied that everything possible has been done and we are bracing for a very successful conference. You can see how everything has been set, including the main plenary tent. This is beautiful.”
Ten tents – one per province – have been pitched and furnished, and workman are putting finishing touches to the marquee.
Other facilities like offices, a clinic and media centre are also ready, with access roads and corridors surfaced. Electricity and Internet connectivity are available.
Knife Attacker Slashes Man In London Train Station after Screaming ‘This Is For Syria’
…REUTERS – A man wielding a knife slashed a man in an east London metro station on Saturday, reportedly screaming “this is for Syria”, before police used a stun gun to detain him in what they described as a terrorist incident.
A pool of blood near the ticket barriers at the Leytonstone Underground station, about 6 miles (10 km) east of central London, was visible in footage posted on Twitter that also showed the suspect confronting officers at just after 1900 GMT.
Police said initial reports indicated the man had also threatened other bystanders. One man had serious knife injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening and two other people had minor injuries, police said.
“We are treating this as a terrorist incident,” Richard Walton, who leads the Counter Terrorism Command at London’s Metropolitan Police, said in a statement.
An eyewitness quoted by British newspapers such as The Guardian said the knifeman had appeared to claim that he was retaliating for Western attacks on militants in Syria.
Police declined to comment on those reports and it was not immediately possible to independently verify them.
The Leytonstone incident will draw parallels with the May 2013 murder of British army soldier Lee Rigby, who was hacked to death just south of the Thames River by two Muslim converts.
Britain is on its second-highest alert level of “severe”, meaning a militant attack is considered highly likely, mainly due to the threat posed by Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq who are encouraging supporters to attack the West.
After Islamic State militants claimed responsibility for the attacks on Paris last month that killed 130 people, British Prime Minister David Cameron won approval from lawmakers on Wednesday to bomb the Islamist group in Syria.
British warplanes first bombed oil fields controlled by Islamic State on Thursday.
Threat to Britain?
Cameron said strikes would not increase the chances of an attack on Britain as militants already viewed Britain as a top target with seven plots foiled over the past year.
An eyewitness to the knife attack was quoted as saying the attacker had screamed about Syria.
“I just saw a lot of people running but I ignored it and kept walking to get my train, but suddenly what I saw I couldn’t believe my eyes and what I saw was a guy with a knife,” the Guardian quoted an eyewitness as saying.
“As he was coming out this is what he said: ‘This is what happens when you f*** with mother Syria, all of your blood will be spilled.’”
Such apparently random attacks are extremely difficult to thwart because they require relatively little planning and very basic equipment.
In 2013, Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale ran over Fusilier Rigby near Woolwich Barracks before setting upon him with knives and a meat cleaver in an attempt to behead him.
They asked bystanders to film them with bloodied hands, calmly justifying their actions as a response to Britain’s foreign policy. They were jailed for life last year.
British security services say about two thirds of their time is spent countering international militants, much of that connected to Syria.
Britain suffered by far its worst militant Islamist attack in July, 2005, when 52 people were killed by suicide bombs on underground trains and a bus.
A beach attack in Tunisia in June this year that killed 30 British holidaymakers was the biggest loss of British lives in such an incident since the July 2005 London bombings.
Islamic State said on Saturday that the married couple who killed 14 people in a mass shooting in California, which US authorities are investigating as an act of terrorism, were followers of the militant group.
Secret National Motif
Dear Family and Friends,
“Inspire us,” someone wrote to me from the Diaspora recently,
urging me to “be the change you want to see.” Whew, I thought
that’s exactly what I was doing: fifteen years of telling the story
of life on the ground in Zimbabwe; never giving up; never shutting up
and always standing up for what I believe in. That, more than
anything, is the change I want to see in Zimbabwe: a country where
people aren’t afraid to speak; a country where people aren’t
afraid to get involved in the affairs that govern their lives; a
country where the perpetrators of wrong-doing are held to account for
their actions regardless of race, sex, political persuasion or office.
Sometimes my letters over the years have been intensely personal:
painful to write and difficult for people to read. Many times I’ve
seen things or had encounters with people that I haven’t been able
to write about; those untold stories remain part of the collective
national secret that so many of us have lived, witnessed or heard.
There’s no sugar coating on life in Zimbabwe for the vast majority
of people where every day is a case of “chop wood, carry water,”
both physically and metaphorically.
“It’s not hard to see that life is being squeezed out of the
ordinary person,” someone visiting from the Diaspora said to me
recently and those words describe us exactly. We are so worn down with
the events of the last fifteen plus years that it’s all we can do to
put one foot in front of the other and just survive.
As to the challenge from the Diaspora to “ inspire us,” what can I
say except this: speak out for your homeland, complain, lobby,
demonstrate, have think tanks, write. Do all the things that it is so
hard for those us at home to do. Don’t just send money home, send
ideas and initiatives too. Your money is saving lives but your ideas
and innovations could change generations. We here at home are so proud
of the achievements of Zimbabweans in the Diaspora. Every day we hear
the stories: my child is a doctor, a judge, a nurse, an artist, a
dancer, a film maker, an IT specialist and we puff out our chests at
their achievements from such harsh beginnings.
My inspiration this week came after visiting a couple in their
eighties living in a run-down Harare suburb. The husband spent his
life as a policeman and then in a government department. His wife
looked after the family, rearing five children. Pensions, assets and
savings were eroded or lost in the economic collapse of 2008 and
theirs is not an easy retirement. For an hour we talked, laughed and
sweated under the blazing sun together. We didn’t talk of politics,
just of life in Zimbabwe. Our age and race were different but our
hearts were the same: proud Zimbabweans; proud of what we have
achieved and proud of how we have held our heads high during these
worst of times. Until next time, thanks for reading, love cathy 4th

Chinese President Visit Deepens Ties Between our Two Nations |OPINION

Leaders sign raft of new agreements as Zimbabwe looks for more collaboration with China
President Xi Jinping’s visit to Zimbabwe marked a continued strengthening of political, economic and cultural relations that have already seen China become the country’s biggest investor and largest export market outside Africa.
One of the biggest agreements involves a Chinese commitment to improve Zimbabwe’s power generation system.
This will take the form of a $1.2 billion loan from China’s Export-Import Bank to modernize and expand the Hwange thermal power plant, the country’s largest. China is also helping to increase the capacity of the Kariba South power plant, the country’s second-largest electric power generating facility, by an additional 360 megawatts.
A reliable energy system is crucial to any nation’s economic and social prosperity, so the importance of China’s commitment to helping us generate power across Zimbabwe 24/7 cannot be overstated.
In addition to the Hwange and Kariba power plant deals, Xi signed construction and communications agreements with Zimbabwean officials and business leaders. He renewed his country’s promise to build a new Zimbabwean parliament building to replace the old, cramped facility our lawmakers are in now.
We appreciate that China began helping us build national facilities many years ago – in the 1980s when our country was newly independent. The first project was our National Sports Stadium.
In 2012, Mugabe officially commissioned the state-of-the-art National Defense College, which was built with assistance from the Chinese. The college is open to military and state officials from member countries of the Southern African Development Community and beyond.
China has also constructed rural hospitals and schools, and hotels, across Zimbabwe, as well as our largest shopping center, the $100 million Mall in Harare.
In addition to providing food aid, China has also contributed to food security by supplying fertilizers for distribution to households.
An exciting deal that was signed on the eve of Xi’s visit to Zimbabwe was a partnership between Chinese mail and parcel delivery service YTO Express and Zimbabwe’s national postal service, Zimpost. Under the agreement, Zimpost will handle all YTO Express deliveries in Zimbabwe and southern Africa.
China has already committed billions of dollars to helping build a cement factory and developing our coal, platinum, chrome and diamond mining sectors. This commitment will transform these sectors from raw-material exporters to local value adders, transferring technology and creating local employment.
Beyond the economic arena, Chinese and Zimbabwean officials have agreed to collaborate on cultural exchange programs and wildlife protection.
Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa says economic relations between China and Zimbabwe are expanding rapidly: “More than 100 Chinese companies have already invested in Zimbabwe, and there is a lot of interest in all sectors of the economy.”
Zimbabwe has been working tirelessly to remove unattractive and outdated statutes and regulations to make it easier to do business and create an investment climate conducive to investors.
Chinese investment in Zimbabwe reached $601 million in 2013, making it China’s largest investment in Africa that year. Moreover, bilateral trade surpassed $1.2 billion last year and is poised to grow further this year and beyond.
Lin Lin, a former Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, says a key reason for the burgeoning economic relations is that “both nations are promoting the establishment of a new international political and economic order that is more fair and reasonable”.
Russia, which also believes there should be a new world order, has recently accelerated its economic relations with Zimbabwe – a move that is most welcome.
The fact is that many world leaders view the current global political and economic system as skewed in favor of developed countries in the West at the expense of developing countries, especially in Africa, a trend that has remained unchanged since 1885.
In addition to strengthening bilateral economic relations, Xi’s visit also deepened the personal friendship he has with Mugabe. When Mugabe visited Beijing in August last year, Xi hailed him as “a renowned leader of the African national liberation movement” and “an old friend of the Chinese people whom we respect very much”.
China began supporting African liberation movements that sought to throw off the yoke of colonialism in the 1950s.
Zimbabwe’s relations with China date to the liberation struggle of the ’70s, when the Chinese, together with the Soviet Union, provided arms to Zimbabwean freedom fighters and trained some of the movement’s leaders. We will never forget that support.
The friendship between China and Zimbabwe “was forged in the glorious years when we stood shoulder to shoulder against imperialism, colonialism and hegemony”, Xi said when Mugabe visited Beijing last year. “The Chinese people value friendship, and we will never forget those good friends and good brothers who have shown mutual understanding and support vis-a-vis China, and who have come through thick and thin with us.”
Mugabe, who was making his 13th trip to China, responded that he felt very much at home in the country.
Given the warm friendship between Xi and Mugabe, and the fact that the Chinese and Zimbabwean economies do not compete and are complementary to each other, we believe that political and economic relations with China can only soar to new heights in coming years.

Demystifying Blindness
By Jules Daudi| Picture yourself sitting in your lounge. It is night-time. Your lights are on. You are watching your favorite show on television while your supper is simmering on the stove in the kitchen. Suddenly the power goes off and everything becomes dark and a little bit scary. All you can see and feel is the darkness around you. However you cannot just sit still and wait because you have things to do. You have to switch off the television, the fridge at the other end of your lounge, the stove in the kitchen and all other electric gadgets in case there is a power surge when the electricity comes back. In view of this, you really need light to get to these appliances and the wall sockets but the challenge is you had not bothered to have a candle and some matches on standby before sitting to watch TV. Such a scenario will force you to “see in the dark” as you have to get up and try to locate the candle and matches in their usual storage place. Suppose, you discover that someone moved the candle without your knowledge. You will have to try to find it or find the power points for the appliances so that you switch them off and you have to do this without the use of your eyes because they cannot see in the dark. So you have to use your hands and your knowledge about the general outlay of your house to get to where the switches are and to try to locate the candle. Such is the everyday life of a blind person; they have to see and do things without the use of physical eyes.
While there are a few people with multiple disabilities or physical impairments, the majority of blind people are just that blind, which according to the Collins dictionary definition means ‘without the power of physical sight’. This point is being emphasized because people sometimes treat blind people as if there have no sensory perception at all. You will find that when a blind person is walking with an assistant, people will address the assistant with questions seeking information about the blind person. It is common to hear the assistant being asked questions like ‘What’s her name, what happened to her”, etc. For some reason, society does not seem to comprehend that loss or lack of sight does no equate to loss or lack of the other senses. Thus it is reiterated that most blind people can hear, talk, smell and touch. So next time you see a blind person and you want to talk to them about something, just address them directly.
As a matter of fact, an observation of blind people will show that as compensation for lack of sight, their other senses are highly sharpened. Hence they will be able to tell who you are simply by touching you or hearing your voice. Most sighted people do not bother to develop such skills because they rely on their ability to see people with their eyes and identify them. An appreciation that blindness is just the absence of physical sight will also help society to understand that blindness in itself has no bearing on a person’s brain power, IQ or mental alertness. For instance, when given the same educational opportunities as sighted people, blind people can perform at the same level with their sighted counterparts. Hence there is no need whatsoever to deny a blind child or person the right to acquire an education simply because he/she is blind.
In conclusion, what is being said here is not that blind people do not need assistance. Even in the field of education which has been mentioned above, there is need for production of educational material which is user-friendly for blind people. This can be Braille material, large print for those with limited sight and audio materials. In cities, there are also things like traffic lights which blind people cannot see and they need help in crossing the roads unless they are walking with someone to assist them. A blind person walking without an assistant is usually identifiable by a white cane which he/she will be carrying. Things like colors can only be identified through the eye thus a blind person will not be able to tell if something is green white or whatever color. The age of technology which we are living in has been a great leap forward in advancing the cause of blind people since there is software which can be installed in phones and computers to help them to read and type. What is legging behind is an overhaul of societal views and attitudes towards blind people. A new dawn and a new era has to come where blind people are not viewed as inferior but equal citizens of the world with an equal ability to contribute towards the development of the human race.
WATCH: Sex with 75 Year Old Man-Secret Drone Catches 27 Year Old Woman In The Act
A 27 year old female prostitute(suspect) and her alleged pensioner client (aged 75) have been hit with criminal charges after being filmed by a drone.
The flying camera was operated by a vigilante anti-prostitution activist who recorded Douglas Blansett and Amanda Zolicoffer getting it on in the front of his truck, police claim.
Blansett has pleaded not guilty to ‘engaging in an act of public lewdness’ after a vigilante law enforcer used a drone to film him allegedly having sex in a car with the said “known sex worker”.
The drone was being operated by the man behind Johntv.com, Brian Bates, who “firmly believes that many types of prostitution are not ‘the world’s oldest profession’ and are instead ‘the world’s oldest form of abuse.’”
When the footage of the 75-year-old was filmed and handed over to police back in August, Bates said he believed this was the first case where a drone had been used in this way.
The pensioner appeared in court this week, was given bail at $500, and will be back in court in early January to face the music.
The woman, Samantha McKee, has been charged but has not yet been given a court date.
Since 1996, Bates has used a normal video camera to film and shame men who pay for sex with women on the street.

Zhuwao Drowned
Indigenisation Minister Patrick Zhuwao was this week drowned down by youths at the City Sports Centre, and could not finish reading his 41-page speech.
This happened as Zhuwao ordered CABS and Old Mutual to institute legal action against youths who benefited from the $10 million government Youth Fund and failed to repay the loans.
Zhuwao gave the order while addressing his First Economic Empowerment Conference in Harare on Thursday.
The minister, who was booed by youths at City Sports Centre, could not finish reading his 41-page speech as rowdy youths kept interfering and hectoring him.
“For the remaining few 2015 days, go to the bank where you borrowed and make payment plans. I am not going to protect anyone who borrowed and is not paying back,” he said.
“I am saying to Lillian (a representative of CABS present at the event), go and tell your bosses that Zhuwao is saying that I am not going to protect any defaulter because they are blocking others from accessing loans.
“Those who are failing to pay back the loans, take them to the courts from January 1, 2016. That is my message to you.”
The $10 million Kurera-Ukondla Youth Fund was first established in 2011 as part of Old Mutual’s indigenisation agreement with the government in an effort to improve levels of unemployment and act as a stimulus to economic growth in the country.
Last week, Zhuwao said government was going to attach properties of the youth fund defaulters. Disbursing institutions say about 97% of the youths who benefited from fund did not pay back.
Out of the $11 million facility, $4,9 million was disbursed to the youths through Old Mutual, but only $1,7 million was repaid. The other $5,1 million has not been accounted for, with the minister unable to shed any light on what happened to the money.
Zhuwao said the whereabouts of the $5,1 million remained unclear, amid suspicion the money could have gone into wrong pockets.
Some of the Zanu PF youths who have failed to repay the money they got from the $10 million Youth Fund, which government secured from Old Mutual, have skipped the country, the fund administrators have said.
There were also reports of corruption in the distribution of the loan facility with some senior Zanu PF members being implicated.
The official from Old Mutual identified only as Lillian who was part of the guest speakers at the First Economic Empowerment Conference, said they were struggling to locate some of the defaulters.
“Some of the challenges we are facing in trying to recover the loans are that some of the beneficiaries have relocated and we are failing to track them. We hear that some have even gone out of the country,” she said.
She confirmed that most of the beneficiaries abused the funds.
“Some diverted the loans to other projects and they are failing to service their loans,” she said.

PICS:
Mugabe Must Resign-Church
THE Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHCD) says President Robert Mugabe should resign and allow new leadership to take over if the country is to recover from the current economic turmoil.
In a communiqué entitled The Zimbabwe We Want – Taking the Process Forward, ZHCD said leadership renewal is crucial for the future of the country.
“We recommend that there be a leadership renewal across the board and for increased political accountability, as well as for the Executive to adhere to the rule of law for the removal of political patronage and factionalism.”
The coalition of Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference, Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Council of Churches and Union for the Development of Apostolic and Zionist Churches in Zimbabwe says they are worried with political intolerance in the country.
“The current political landscape in Zimbabwe is characterised by polarisation, intolerance to opposing political views and ideologies, intra and inter-party fighting and succession issues, further weakening the political discourse,” said ZHCD.
The church said the current government is reluctant to address economic issues which are affecting the majority.
“Immediate steps need to be taken by the Executive to improve the economy, reduce poverty, improve international relations, reduce, repay and restructure debt, increase the capacity to borrow, support the informal sector and create genuine wealth,” the heads of Christian denominations said.
Grace Fails to Reimburse School-Kids’ Fuel Cash
By Tinoonga Mawere, Gutu|CIO agents ordered School Bus Drivers to ferry Zanu PF to and from Grace Mugabe’s rally at Mushayavanhu High School yesterday.
School bus drivers were left stranded having travelled long distances to the venue.
The bus drivers told ZimEye.com yesterday they were grounded at the venue hoping to be given fuel coupons as reimbursement for the expenses incurred but they were rudely told by state agents to wait for further consultations. Some of the schools that own the buses are Dewure, Gutu High Alheit, Mupandawana, Mukaro Mission and Mutero.
Mrs Mugabe’s rallies have chewed up thousands of dollars at a time the country ‘s economy is crumbling with each passing day. Such schools are also operating on stringent budgets due to the harsh economic conditions. One school bus driver yesterday said around 7pm they were still waiting for the fuel coupons.
“We are still waiting for the coupons and we are now confused. We were instructed to ferry Zanu PF supporters to and from the rally but now we are still waiting for the coupons. We used school resources to transport the Zanu PF supporters and we are now fearing for the worst,”said a bus driver who spoke on condition of anonymity.
While everything at the rally appeared to be glamorous, it has emerged Mrs Mugabe’s rally has left several institutions battling with arrears as a result of costs incurred before and during the rally. It has also been reported Gutu Central Constituency MP Lovemore Matuke who is a businessman, went into overdrive and donated several crates of soft drinks and beer in a bid to please Mrs Mugabe.
The First Lady has been accused of being insenstive to the plight of thousands of suffering Zimbabweans and she has also been lambasted for her penchant for expensive shopping.
STIs Rife In Zim Universities
Sexually Transmitted Infections have skyrocketed in the country’s universities with over 35 % students engaging in promiscuity.
Report by NewZimbabwe.com
Research carried out by the Students and Youth Working on reproductive Health Action Team (SAYWHAT) in June at four local universities established that students were indulging in sex despite limited access to contraceptives.
It was also established that despite the high numbers of STIs at these institutions, access to treatment for the infections and ARV therapy was limited at just 20 percent.
The research further noted that there was no provision of Post Exposure Prophylaxis which is given to victims of rape so that they do not contract HIV or get pregnant.
“There were not ART initiation, no post rape care, no post abortion care services as well as cervical cancer screening and control,” reads the report.
In an interview with NewZimbabwe.com SAYWHAT official, Tawanda Nyamangara, said government and parents should come to terms with the fact that youths are indulging in sex.
“This is happening in colleges and universities, and there is need for stakeholders to double their effort if we are to save the lives of this key population,” he said.
“The problem we have also discovered is that there is no comprehensive information on sexuality in tertiary education which we think is crucial to this sexually active age group.
“In some cases condoms are available in college hospitals but students cannot access them because they feel embarrassed to do so.”
Nordic Company seeks to Invest Zim Fertilizer
Nordic fertiliser giant Yara International ASA has set its sights on Zimbabwe and other regional markets after announcing the purchase of Zambia’s Greenbelt Fertilizers in a $51 million deal announced on Friday.
Greenbelt Fertilizers is a leading distributor of fertilizers in Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
“This is a long-term investment in Zambia, and in the transformation of agriculture in Southern Africa,” said Yara’s CEO for Africa, Bernhard Fonseka. “Our decision to buy Greenbelt Fertilizers is based on our belief in the immense potential of smallholder and commercial farmers in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Mozambique.”
Zimbabwe frequently grapples with the shortage of nitrogen fertilizers, due to production capacity constraints and lack of capital.
The Zambian transaction comes two months after Yara opened a $30 million fertilizer terminal in Tanzania, signalling Yara’s drive to provide sustainable crop nutrition to African farmers.
Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Mozambique form part of one of the world’s fastest growing agricultural regions, but among smallholder farmers, the use of new technology and crop nutrition programmes remains low. Yara currently employs 80 agronomists to share knowledge with farming communities in 10 African countries, said Fonseka.
“By buying Greenbelt Fertilizers, Yara will be able to provide sustainable crop nutrition for more farmers, increase crop yield and quality, and increase farmers’ incomes,” he added.
The transaction is expected to close in first quarter 2016, subject to competition authority approval and other customary closing conditions.
Grace: Mnangagwa Is Below Me
First Lady Grace Mugabe has announced that she is senior to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
ALSO READ – Grace Confirms Presidential Shoot State Media – First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe yesterday corrected media reports that insinuated she had said Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was her senior. Responding to a headline that appeared in The Herald when she addressed a rally in Mberengwa last week, Amai Mugabe said while she had great respect for Vice Presidents Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, the pair was not senior to her.
She said this while addressing thousands of people at Mushayavanhu High School in Gutu during her ninth rally to connect with the people. The First Lady has been to all the provinces save for Bulawayo. “I said I respect VPs Mphoko and Mnangagwa and I did not say they are my seniors,” Grace said.
“There are some mischievous people in the media industry. (The) Herald, what is it that you wrote that VP Mnangagwa is my senior? I never said that. I said he has more experience in politics than me. It does not mean the First Lady is below the VP.”
She added: “I said I just got into Zanu-PF and the fact that I said that does not mean I am lower than someone. I am the wife of the President. I humble myself and respect the people. VP Mphoko I refer to him as my father because he is our Vice President, but despite the fact that I call him father, he knows my position that I am the wife of their leader. It is my right, and even in the Politburo that’s why I seat at the front.”
At the Mberengwa rally, Mugabe said she had a lot to learn from VP Mnangagwa in politics and the pair enjoyed cordial relations.
She was responding to a spirited campaign in the private media that sought to cast her nationwide rallies as a pitch for one of the VP posts, ostensibly VP Mnangagwa’s, at Zanu-PF’s 15th Annual National People’s Conference that begins in Victoria Falls on Monday.
France brings out mixture of world’s most critical problems
By Emmanuel Koro
Johannesburg,
The French capital city, Paris last week brought to us a heart-breaking mixture of the two most critical world problems for which lasting solutions are urgently needed – terrorism and climate change.
Just a few weeks ago France came under heavy and fatal terrorist attacks, sending shock waves not only there, but worldwide.
Now it hoster one of the most important UN environmental conferences that seeks to address a world-wide felt problem of climate change; the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) 21st Conference of Parties (COP21). The COP21 will run from 30 November to 11 December 2015.
It is against this background that just before, France’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, Laurent Fabius started globe-trotting reassuring some of the over 150 heads of states attending the meeting; including South Africa’s president Jacob Zuma that they will not be harmed while attending the UNFCC COP21. Currently, 195 states are members of the UNFCC.
Our leaders are going to address a global climate change problem whose future threat to human and environmental wellbeing has already been proved beyond doubt by the UN Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Sadly, there is still concern that there is little commitment from some world leaders to fully address climate change problems. This is evidenced by the UNFCCC’s continued failure to significantly reduce the emission of gases that cause climate change since the adoption of the UNFCCC in May 1992 and later its entry into force as a legally binding Convention in May 1994, to date.
“Twenty years later, we are nowhere near achieving the aim of the Convention,” said a recently published Greenpeace International Report. “Carbon dioxide emissions have grown by about 40 per cent and atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations have not been this high for millions of years. Global mean temperatures have increased by a whopping 0.4 degrees Celsius and oceans have become 0.28 degree Celsius warmer.”
In its 2012 report headlined ‘Climate protection between hope and despair’ Greenpeace International confirms that UNFCCC member countries failed to live up to their promises under the Kyoto Protocol to cut down their emissions by 5.2 percent below 1990 levels by 2008-2012.
The climate change-causing gases that the UNFCCC is fighting to reduce include carbon monoxide from car exhaust pipes, methane, nitrous oxide, tetrafluoromethane, hexafluoroethane and sulfur hexafluoride. These gases are also collectively referred to as greenhouse gases (GHGs). They contribute towards the warming of the earth/globe because they prevent heat from escaping from the earth into space, creating global warming.
It is this global warming trend that the world is fighting to stop by calling for the reduction in emission of GHGs.
Climate experts worldwide have continued to warn that the world cannot afford any further global warming. This begs the question: “Will Paris go down in history as the city where world leaders decided once and for all; to put petty politics and socioeconomic interests aside, in the interest of having long-lasting solutions to address the commonly shared climate change problem?”
Adopted in Kyoto Japan on 11 December 1997 and entered into force on 16 February 2005, the Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement under the UNFCCC popularly known for committing world governments (its parties), to strictly adhere to binding emission reduction standards. Sadly it expired at the end of 2012. This potentially left the global climate change efforts at a standstill.
Fortunately, UNFCCC member countries later met in Doha, Qatar and voted to extend the Kyoto Protocol to 2020. The sad reality about Kyoto is that it continues to expire and is due to do so in 2020.
Addressing Kyoto Protocol life-span problem
Fully aware of this Kyoto ‘life-span’ problem, the UNFCCC member countries recently made a welcome decision calling for long-term climate change commitments during COP 17 held in Durban, South Africa. They agreed to create a new international climate agreement by the conclusion of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris in December 2015.
Under this new and long-term commitment towards addressing climate change UNFCCC member countries have agreed to publicly outline their post-2020 climate actions under a new international agreement, known as Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs). The INDCs will largely determine whether the world achieves an ambitious 2015 agreement at COP21 in Paris and for the first time create a worldwide shared commitment to change life-styles at all levels of society, towards a low-carbon and climate-resilient future.
In line with the worldwide acceptable the sustainable development motto of “Think globally, act locally and make a difference” a world united by a common problem of its own making; climate change – will be meeting in Paris next week to address climate change, meaningfully. Expectations are high that the INDCs will be the life-line of future generations to whom a life-giving environment should be continuously handed-over.
South Africa’s INDC local consultative process ahead of COP21.
Over the past few months leading to UNFCC COP21, South Africa has been mobilising stakeholders from all sectors of the society to give an input into its INDCs. One of the most interesting consultative INDC processes took place in Gauteng, South Africa’s most industrialised province and no doubt one of the biggest contributors towards emitting GHGs.
At the recent Gauteng Pre-COP21 INDC Stakeholder Engagement Conference, held in Gauteng recently Gauteng stakeholders effectively used the Conference as a platform to give their Provincial input that would be fed into to the National INDC in Paris at the UNFCC COP21, this month.
In his keynote address the MEC for Gauteng Departments of Economic, Environment and Agriculture, Rural Development, Mr Lebogang Maile said that our efforts towards mitigating and adapting to climate change impacts should not ignore the need to address the climate change challenges faced by the poor and historically disadvantaged communities. These include rural communities and townships.
The master of ceremony Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Deputy Director General: Natural Resources Management, Advocate John Nesidoni said in his opening and closing remarks that the INDC were important for us and future generations. He said that the decisions that we were making were not only going to have an impact on the lives of South African people but also on billions of people from different parts of the world.
Grace Confirms Presidential Shoot
First Lady Grace Mugabe has said her husband Robert Mugabe may choose her as his successor when the 91-year-old Zimbabwean president leader decides to leave office. “I cannot be counted out,” Grace, 50, told a rally Friday in Masvingo province. “President Mugabe has the prerogative of choosing his successor.”
ALSO READ – Grace: Mnangagwa Is My Junior
Her statement appeared to contradict remarks she made at a Nov. 20 political rally that she had no presidential ambitions. The southern African nation is scheduled to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in 2018.
Known by her critics as the “First Shopper” and “Gucci Grace,” for what they say is her extravagant lifestyle, Grace Mugabe has built support among a group of senior ruling party officials known as Generation-40 because most of them are in their 40s and played no role in Zimbabwe’s war for independence.
Her main adversary in a run for the top job is the vice president and deputy leader of the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who previously served as state security and defense minister.
“We can’t afford to have a leader who isn’t popular or we will lose elections,” Grace said. “Mugabe is an old man at 91 and we’ll be carrying him in a wheelbarrow to address people because he is still the best person to lead the country.”
Doubts about Mugabe’s competence increased in September when he read the wrong speech at the opening of parliament without realising he had delivered the same address a few weeks earlier.
While Zimbabwe’s economy is stagnating, with slumping consumer demand pushing the country into deflation and 83% of government expenditure going on civil servant wages, “Given the level of factionalism in ZANU-PF, there is no force strong enough to oust him,” Mark Rosenberg, Africa director at New York-based Eurasia Group, said by phone at that time from Johannesburg. “If he doesn’t die in office and he steps down beforehand, he will try to control the process as much as possible and will probably succeed.” Mail and Guardian
Grace Jilts Mnangagwa using Fake Donations
By Tinoonga Mawere, Gutu | Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s absence at First Lady Grace Mugabe’s rally at Mushayavanhu High School has all but confirmed the perceived bad blood between the two Zanu PF heavyweights.
Mnangagwa whose key stronghold is the Masvingo Province, was expected to attend the rally but he was nowhere to be seen. Mrs Mugabe was accompanied by Vice Phelekezela Mphoko -who is now viewed as the First Lady’s apologist, Saviour Kasukuwere and other several senior Zanu PF officials .
While Mnangagwa bunked the much touted rally, there were fresh claims that Mrs Mugabe did not donate the plastic shoes she dished out at the rally but rather used funds raised by the Fushai Women’s project. Grace only ordered the shoes from China using the raised funds, reports say.
As usual Grace donated 200 tonnes of maize,180 tonnes of fertilisers ,3400 litres of cooking oil ,320 kgs washing soap and 268 pairs of plastic shoes allegedly bought using Fushai funds. The First Lady attacked Zanu PF politicians for bribing journalists to peddle falsehoods against her -a statement directed at her political foes -including her alleged nemesis Mnagagwa .
She also attacked NGOs for being used by Western countries to advance imperialist ideologies in the country.
“When NGOs come tell them to remove sanctions and not just bring food. Tell them that you want to work for yourself. The west assumed that if industries close down people would turn against President Mugabe. We know that some top Zanu PF officials are also paying journalists to write falsehoods and we will face and you have to explain yourself,” said Mrs Mugabe .
Fresh evidence has pointed out Mrs Mugabe only facilitated the purchasing of the plastic shoes and did not donate the goodies .
The First Lady’s call on the villagers to snub relief food from NGO has angered the local community since there is looming starvation in the area .
Woman Found Dead In Toilet
A 28- year-old woman of Thito ward in Maun was found dead in a toilet at one of the local bars on Wednesday morning.
Although details surrounding her death were sketchy, people interviewed at the crime scene said that evidence suggests a possibility that the woman was raped before she was murdered.
“The way she was seated suggested that someone dumped her there, her trousers were to her knees while her head leaned on the toilet seat,” said one the first people to arrive at the scene.
Maun Police boss, Peter Gochela refused to comment saying the case was still new and has not been furnished with details.

Chiyangwa Winning ZIFA Presidency, State Media Says
Harare Businessman Philip Chiyangwa is winning the ZIFA Presidency today, the State Media claims as the football body heads to the ZIFA village (at 9am) in Harare for elections.
In the below report, the government broadsheet says unless something incredible happens, Chiyangwa is certain to take the most coveted post in national football.
After months of waiting, the domestic football family will today know the man who will be ushered into the hot seat to lead it for the next 15 months and try to pluck the game from a debt trap that has been threatening to drown it.
Cuthbert Dube and his board left the game after a five-year experiment that went awry.
Four men are in the running to lead the association and, as of last night, Harare businessman Philip Chiyangwa was leading the contest.
Leslie Gwindi, James Takavada and former ZIFA chairman Trevor Carelse-Juul are hoping to get the vote of the councillors and win the top post.
PHILIP CHIYANGWA
He was the first to declare his candidature and appears to have done all the early running and, if the opinion polls are to be trusted, he is set to be named the ZIFA boss today in a first round crushing victory.
He revealed in his election manifesto that it has been his life-long dream to serve football and lead the domestic game.
The 59-year-old launched a vigorous campaign that included a tour of all the country’s provinces, adverts in the mainstream media and also co-opted a number of key constituents to rally behind him.
Chiyangwa’s catch words have been: Rebuild! Restore! Reposition!
He says he has a plan to dissolve ZIFA’s crippling debt, believed to be hovering around $6m, and says his business connections will come in handy.
However, some have questioned his background in football but he says that the fact that he has been in the trenches, in the grassroots, doesn’t mean that he hasn’t been active in football administration.
He received the support of Soccer Africa pundit, Idah Pieterside, who on Thursday night told the SuperSport weekly football magazine programme that the domestic game right now needs a man who can unlock revenue streams and resolve its debt crisis.
Chiyangwa says he will not remain in charge of ZIFA, beyond 2018, and has promised to hand over the baton to Farai Jere, who was a firm favourite among Councillors, to lead the Association, before he pulled out and backed the property mogul.
LESLIE GWINDI
Leslie Gwindi is now running for the same office for the third consecutive time and his camp believe this could be third time lucky for their man.
The former Dynamos secretary-general and Harare City chairman wants the re-establishment of the respect for the constitution, re-establishment of the authority of the ZIFA Assembly, restructuring the secretariat, grassroots football development for both boys and girls, good corporate governance and sound financial management.
Gwindi says, once elected into office, he will institute major reforms at the national association to restore integrity and confidence among the stakeholders as the first step to get Zimbabwean football back on its feet.
Gwindi revealed he has a workable debt settling strategy which include the transparent engagement of creditors.
He also strongly feels the next ZIFA board must come up with a robust strategic document which can still be referred to by football administrators in the years to come on the way Zimbabwe football should take.
He will dedicate his first six months in office to establishing a five-year plan which must be measurable and with time-frames.
JAMES TAKAVADA
The 1984 Soccer Star of the year believes it is now time to give ex-footballers a chance to take charge of the game.
He says former footballers should have a big say in the way ZIFA operates and this can be achieved by bringing in a former player at the helm of the association.
He plans to restore ZIFA’s credibility, increase transparency, accountability, improve the governance and protect the integrity of the game.
Takavada said Zimbabwe does not deserve to be sitting outside the top 100 on the FIFA rankings and the game needs someone who has been in the trenches as a footballer
He says ZIFA structures need to be re-aligned and will only improve with the inclusion of councillors in decision making.
He believes that a lot needs to be done towards the provision of infrastructure and grassroots development.
In 1984, Takavada was the Soccer Star of the Year when he turned out for Ziscosteel.
He has played for Gweru United and Darryn Tornadoes.
TREVOR CARELSE JUUL
The South Africa-based businessman is hoping to get it right this time around after losing the last election to Cuthbert Dube in a run-off.
He feels this could be his best chance to land the position.
Juul has promised to bring back the “Dream Team” days once elected into office, as reflected by the catch-line “Dream Team to Reality” in his manifesto.
His mission will be to identify, develop and support talented young players to reach their potential at home and abroad.
He also wants to see a ZIFA that has sustainable revenue streams commercially managed in a transparent manner.
He also wants to see greater respect for the football fraternity, integrity, honesty, fair play and accountability.
Carelse-Juul played top-flight football for Eagles and Dynamos before becoming the youngest ever coach, aged 26, to guide the record Zimbabwean champions.
He then served as zifa chairman in the early 1990s before he left office in 1993 after being replaced by Leo Mugabe.
His candidature, however, has been haunted by his dark past which is littered with allegations of corruption during the construction of the Angwa City building in Harare which was done by his company.
Carelse-Juul, however, claims he is innocent and a born again Christian who believes he has the calling to be the ZIFA boss today.
THE HERALD’S PREDICTION
Unless something dramatic happens today, this race appears set to be won by Philip Chiyangwa and what remains to be seen is whether it’s going to be a blowout victory or one that goes into the second round but, either way, given the way he went around his campaign, it’s difficult to see it going the other way. He might not be the people’s favourite, and he aware of that, but he appears to have the backing of the Councillors.
Churches Agree To End Gender Based Violence
By Sydney Barson | Church leaders have added their voice to the current 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based violence campaign by committing themselves to living as positive role models, leading by example, educating their congregants and using the pulpit for religious activism.
Speaking at the just ended 3 day workshop held in the sleepy town of Lupane, Mrs. Polite Matibiri Gender and Women’s ministries focal person at the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ) said the workshop was organised to take a closer look at GBV “using the transformation and
restoration used by Jesus” Christ.
“Our christian response to Gender is grounded in and motivated by the word of God. As followers of Christ we want to be God’s representatives and respond to God’s calling to you as his children,” said Matibiri.
The 16 days campaign runs annually from November 25 to December 10.
The workshop was organised by Channels of Hope, a program of Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe and UDACIZA in partnership with World Vision Zimbabwe. It is operational in 10 districts spread over Midlands, Masvingo, Matebeleland North and South provinces.
The workshop comes barely a week after Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa’s widely criticized 2016 Budget Statement where he allocated more resources to the Defence, CIO and the police while giving a paltry to gender and women’s affairs.
Mnangagwa Bunks Grace Masvingo Rally
Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa bunked First Lady Grace Mugabe’s Masvingo rally today.
Mnangagwa was conspicuous by his absence at the function attended by members of the shady G40 group which is advocating for Grace’s elevation to the Presidium so she can replace her husband.
At the function, Grace stood for her husband saying he is metal in the bedroom.

1404: “Mdara Mugabe isimbi, isimbi yebasa!…We are happy that we have a father who cares for us. Have you seen a man with 91 years walking with a straight posture like President Mugabe? He may decide to rest we don’t know but for now he’s here…this man work’s for us.
“You should learn from that man..we may struggle but we should be happy with the peace we enjoy unlike in Libya that is now war torn. Iraq was destroyed…please youth we don’t want violence even if you see MDC supporters don’t fight them.”
1401: She blasts politicians who are bribing and threatening journalists to write certain stories.
“Sometimes we blame these kids for their stories but most of the times it’s not their fault. The time will come when they will tell us who has been telling them to write what they have been writing. Some us speak the truth when the time comes…I’ve learnt from the man I live with that when you are honest nothing weighs on your shoulders.
“I’m a humble person and I call VP Mphoko baba but he knows I’m the wife of his senior.”
1347: “Value addition and beneficiation is the third one and here you grow sugarcane and it must be processed locally instead of sending raw cane to South Africa. We want to breed free range chicken as projects for women so that people eat nutritious food. Our diamonds are just being taken but we need to beneficiate them locally so we earn more.”

1341: “The second cluster is on Utilities and Infrastructure that will look at roads, energy, water provision and other issues. The Chinese are going to build us a new Parliament Building which will cater for the large number of MPs we have. These are things that are happening because of ZimAsset. They are also going to build a pharmaceutical warehouse. Our roads and railways are going to fixed and our airports are being upgraded to international standards.
“It’s might be painful today but things will get better.”
1326: She explains the ZimAsset programme with the first cluster being Food Security and Nutrition.
“Government saw it fit that we should work with countries like China and Russia that can help us with farming implements so that people can work for themselves…..don’t cut down trees because the problem of climate change that’s affecting us will not go away but will get worse. These tractors are actually a loan so we need to pay back and that’s why we are giving them to irrigation cooperatives who can work together to repay the debt. Those with larger farms will receive later.
“I would like to encourage the farming of small grains and we are looking at that as the Women’s League…Maize was never meant for human consumption but the our small grains are what we are supposed to eat.”
1315: “When NGOs come tell them to remove sanctions and not just bring food aid..tell them that you want to work for yourselves. A learned person is not a problem to work with and this happens because President Mugabe ensured that education was widely available….the West assumed that if industries close people would turn against President Mugabe.
“Most of you saw the war and noone fought alone..in that vain people should acknowledge the role p[played by the masses who cooked for liberation fighters and even hid them in their homes. What’s good now is that we have our country and yes the sanctions are hurting us and some people are unemployed but Zimbabweans are not lazy people who just sit and cry.”
1304: “You must be wary of the West who still hold grudges because they lost their foothold on Zimbabwe..let’s respect what was done for us. People who went to war never went for their families but for the whole nation…it should not surprise you when President Mugabe has been endorsed to continue leading the country because there is noone else capable.
“There are some greedy people who when given positions all they care for is themselves. When Matuke was chosen to be MP there were many people vying for that position but people saw it fit that he lead the constituency…people should be happy with what they are given, people should not boast but wait for the party to elevate them. There are people who think they are clever yet stupid….President Mugabe is attacked but he knows not everyone can love you.”
1258: “Masvingo is important, this country is called Madzimbawhe and that great honour should always be remembered and cherished. This province gave us Muzenda…a man with love, a man who knew why he went to war, he never boasted about it. Where do we get lost when we have such leadership…I’m emphasising on the work done by Baba Muzenda and such people don’t beat their chest.
“In the party we have people who have fought the liberation war from Masvingo province, blood was spilled and we should always remember…it starts from our homes to teach our young people.”
1247: Grace is now addressing the rally.
1238: VP Mphoko is now addressing the gathering. He says he wants to mention three things, first, being clever is not being wise and this means that some people claim Grace leads a faction yet there is no difference between her and President Mugabe.
“President Mugabe appointed me and vowed that I would die with him and how can I say today that his wife leads a faction. People over value themselves and think they are now important. Some of us have come far with country…there is no game you will play without us seeing. We see what’s happening, please let’s follow the path of President Mugabe.
“We don’t want anyone to place weevils amongst us….G40 is a myth, there is nothing like that. The second thing is about people who rape children from ages 1 day to 15years, such people should castrated, 16 to 65…life in imprisonment..66 to 100…castrate them. Let’s talk about this issue in the party until this problem ends.
“The third thing is lack of discipline but we see now like what Mai Nhari did..party leaders are being disrespected…Togarepi people died for this country..Togarepi the people you command are the ones disrespecting the party leaders, know today that we can be quite but we know what’s going on. You as the leader make sure things are in order. Besides that I have a war history, come and get advice from us..from today as we go to the conference we don’t want anyone being disrespected again.
“Now I want to call the First Lady to address the rally, please come forward Amai”
1220: Mohafa says 25000 people will be supported through irrigation after the completion of Tokwe-Mukosi. She says Masvingo won’t survive without President Mugabe and Grace. Mahofa ends her address.
1214: Shuvai Mahofa is now addressing the gathering. She says before Muzenda’s death she went to visit him in hospital along with Hungwe and were told to remain united.
“We promise you in the presence of the VP is that what President Mugabe wants is what will be done in Masvingo province….understand today Kasukuwere as the commissar that whatever you bring to the province as long as it has the President’s blessing you will have Masvingo province’s support.
“Before my appointment (as Minister of Provincial Affairs) land was being distributed corruptly but we have sorted it now. Districts are also working together.”
1147: Kasukuwere is now introducing the ministers.
1110: The meeting is over and Grace is now on stage alongside VP Mphoko and Zanu-PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere. The national anthem is now being played.
1053: Ministers present here are s Sithembiso Nyoni, Nyasha Chikwinya, Josiah Hungwe, Shuvai Mahofa, Annastacia Ndlovu and Thokozile Mathuthu.
1027: ZCC Brass band is entertaining supporters who are patiently waiting while party leadership is still locked in a meeting
1004: Grace has arrived at the venue and has immediately gone to a briefing with Zanu-PF Masvingo Provincial Executive.
0953: Two helicopters are hovering above Mushayavanhu Secondary School signaling Grace’s arrival and thrilled supporters start cheering.
0947: Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has arrived at Mushayavanhu for the rally.
0944: Today’s rally is Grace’s 9th this year. Yesterday she was at Maphisa Growth Point in Matabeleland South province. She is going around provinces capacitating irrigation projects, fulfilling the mandate of the Zanu-PF Women’s League.
0942: Thousands of Zanu-PF supporters are gathered at Mushayavanhu Secondary School in Masvingo province for First Lady Grace’s rally.
