EXCLUSIVE: Makuvise Remains In Germany Despite Recall

MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s cousin Hebson Makuvise who has been serving as Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Germany since 2009, is still in that country despite his tenure ending today.
This development comes as Zimbabwe government media analysts rubbished the merits of both him and Jacqueline Zwambila being threatened with political persecution back home.

still roaming the streets of Berlin…Makuvise

Makuvise is supposed to have returned to Harare by Tuesday 31st December.
But despite his term expiring, the ambassador was spotted still walking the streets of Berlin on Monday morning.
When asked by our reporter on the reported asylum matter, he was evasive while avoiding further questions.
“I am actually at work today – Nditori kubasa izvozvi,” he said.
When asked to comment about the reports of him claiming asylum in Germany, he referred our reporter back to the source: “Go back to your sources,” he said, without saying anything further while not denying the veracity of the  allegations. The source who broke the story is a highly placed individual within Makuvise’s camp.
It was when Makuvise was asked if he is returning to Zimbabwe that he immediately put the phone down saying he could not talk while in the embassy building. “Ndiri pakabatikana parizvino – I am in a very difficult situation where I cannot talk,” he replied soon after entering the embassy building on Monday morning.
Unconfirmed reports within the MDC-T party state that Makuvise, applied for asylum in Germany long before outgoing ambassador to Australia, Jacqueline Zwambila.
MDC-T spokesman, Douglas Mwonzora has since said he is not aware of the development while yet adding that Makuvise’s decision would be personal.
“I have no knowledge about Ambassador Makuvise, but any communication between the party and the ambassadors is confidential,” he said.
“The decision to seek asylum is a personal one by a person after assessing their situation. It is up to the Government of the day to give assurance to the ambassadors in question that their safety will be guaranteed,” said Mwonzora.

Tsvangirai’s Cousin, Ambassador Makuvise ‘Applies for Asylum in Germany’

Former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s cousin, Hebson Makusive has applied for asylum in Germany, reports from within the MDC-T party state.
This comes at a time when Tsvangirai’s private assignee to Australia, Jacqueline Zwambila also applied for asylum in that country.  They were both meant to have returned to Zimbabwe by Tuesday next week after being recalled.
Makuvise who was assigned the ambassadorial post to Germany, is currently an asylum seeker in that country, sources in the party have told ZimEye. A close relative of Makuvise who cannot be named told ZimEye he applied for asylum earlier in December way before Aussie envoy Jacqueline Zwambila submitted her own application to the Australian government.
Both Makuvise and Zwambila are disliked by 90% of their party cadres who say their appointments were without merit being regarded as cheap family appointments by Morgan Tsvangirai.
hebson_makuvise
It was not clear at the time of writing if the German government has granted him refugee status.
Makuvise is currently facing accusations of fraud in Zimbabwe, and also growing unpopularity among senior party cadres who have continued to protest his governmental appointment seen as a family favour from his relative Tsvangirai.
In the United Kingdom, party cadres accuse him of presiding over the disappearance of thousands of British pounds from the party’s bank account when he was Tsvangirai’s representative.
Makuvise completed his studies at the Institute of Business Executives in Harare and the Institute of Administration and Commerce (SA). He is currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program in International Relations. He has worked in Zimbabwe at the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, the Finance Ministry, and in the private sector. Since 2001, he represented the MDC-T party as its chief representative in Europe before returning to Zimbabwe and then subsequently being catapulted to the ambassadorial post.

BREAKING NEWS: Zwambila Seeks Asylum in Australia

Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Australia Jacqueline Zwambila has applied for asylum in Australia.
Zwambila whose term expires in 3 days, announced Friday that she is not returning to Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe’s outgoing ambassador declared Zimbabwe unsafe for her to return to after the 31st December when her tour of duty ends.
Ambassador Zwambila has reportedly moved out of embassy residence and does not intend to use the first class ticket provided to her by the government on her return journey to Harare as she appeals for protection from the Australian government against her former employers.
She announced:
“I am not returning to Zimbabwe. Once elections of 31 July were stolen by the current government which is illegitimate, I knew that this the end of the line for a lot things. End of the line for the people of Zimbabwe because their will will not be done once more again. The end of the line for people like me who was nominated by ex Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai…”
Zwambila said there have been threats on her from the time she has been in Australia and traveling back there would not be favourable.
“Basically for me to return after so many things have been done to me,since I have been here to Australia, smear campaigns, threats about my being, there is no way I would feel safe to be in Zimbabwe or go back to Zimbabwe,” she said.

Ambassador Zwambila is currently involved in a legal case against a Zimbabwean freelance journalist, Reason Wafarova, who is based in Australia, over a story published by Zimbabwe’s Herald newspaper claiming the ambassador had stripped off in front of embassy staff during an ‘altercation’ in the embassy building.

Shock as MDC-T Bosses ‘Defy Tsvangirai’ & Celebrate Expelled Mayor at Lavish Party

There was shock last night when senior MDC-T officials in the province attended the celebration party of the expelled Mutare mayor Tatenda Nhambarare.
The party was held in Dangamvura.
The elected Mutare Mayor Nhambarare was expelled from the party by the National Council on 6 December 2013, and the party has since instructed officials that he be immediately removed from his position of mayor.
However this party stance has been rubbished by ZANU PF’s Local Government Minister Ignatius Chombo.
Yesterday Nhambarare hosted a lavish victory celebration party at his home in Dangamvura. The celebration was attended by senior MDC officials the Provincial Executive Secretary Misheck Kagurabadza, Giles Mutsekwa, Patrick Chitaka, Lynette Karenyi and David Chimhini , in what analysts say is a sign that all is not well in MDC-T. screamer_nhamarare
Sources say these officials have all slammed the expulsion of the Mayor and said they are prepared to take Tsvangirai head on.
The Town Clerk Obert Muzawazi also attended the party and said Nhambarare would not leave office despite being expelled.
But when contacted Lynette Karenyi confirming that she did attend the function together with the rest said she only did so in her own capacity.
“I am related to Nhambarare everyone in Mutare knows that, you yourself should know,” she told our reporter without clarifying the nature of the relationship.
Another official who is the party’s provincial secretary, Misheck Kagurabadza also told ZimEye he attended the party.
“It was a civic gathering. I attended the party in my own personal capacity,” he said.
He added: “If Tatenda Nhambarare dies today, I am going to attend his funeral,” he said.
When asked about his position regarding the party’s directive to expel Nhambarare, Kagurabadza defensively said:
“I am not talking about that, this is not what I am about, we are talking about what happened yesterday,” (Watch this space for Mr Kagurabadza’s full statement.)

Woman Killed While Cops Were Watching, Honoured

Harare – A woman who was shot and killed by her ex-husband in the presence of police officers will be honoured at 12PM today.
Hararians are converging to Warren Hill Cemetery to conduct a ceremony celebrating 16 days of Women Activism and also in honour of the Charity Sabawu nee Mukarati who was brutally murdered by her husband in September 2008.
Charity was a loving mother, a hard working and enterprising woman, who was at the prime of her life, writes Harare West MP Jessie Majome.

Below was HON MP Majome’s  full letter announcing the function:

Dear Harare Westerners and Friends
I am inviting you to the Harare West 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence Commemoration, remembering Shamiso Charity Sabawu nee Mukarati.
Date: Monday 9 December 2013
Venue: Warren Hill Cemetery, Grave 501, Section D
Time: 12pm
On 1 September 2008 Shamiso Charity Sabawu, a Harare Westerner was shot and killed in cold blood by her ex-husband at the former Globe Trotter Hotel, in Good Hope, Ward 41. Her killer was convicted of murder with actual intent and sentenced to 16 years imprisonment but will serve 12 yrs due to automatic and usual remission of a fraction of the sentence. She was survived by 8 children with youngest at the time of her death only 6 years old.
Charity Sabawu nee Mukarati was a loving mother, a hard working and enterprising woman, who was at the prime of her life.
She died because the system failed her. The ex husband defied many peace orders which were reported to the Marlborough Police but nothing was done. On that fateful day in September she was shot in the presence of police officers who accompanied her killer and helped him get access to her, and who, including one armed with a rifle, fled like lightning, for dear life, from the scene leaving her to die.
As MP I am disturbed by the heinous acts of Gender Based Violence that happen in Harare West constituency. There is the September Meyrick Park tragedy where a man was burnt to death by this wife who then committed suicide. Then 2 years ago in Mabelreign, an officer of the Attorney General’s office, shoved a mugoti (cooking stick), then curry powder into his wife’s vagina, then burned her thighs with a hot iron. Then there is the toddler girl who went missing while her parents were asleep at night, only to be found wandering a few houses away in Emerald Hill, with signs of sexual abuse. All these happened in Harare West!
There will be the laying of flowers at Charity Sabawu nee Mukarati’s grave grave.
Her son Vhusa Dzimwasha , a talented actor will launch his trust Zimbabwe Artists for Hope Trust, which aims to fight gender based violence through the arts.
If you are a perpetrator of Gender Based Violence, STOP IT! If you, or someone you know is experiencing it, REPORT IT!
Let’s have Zero Tolerance to GBV. Never again should a life be lost.
Your MP

Horror as Patients Stranded Without Drinking Water At Harare Hospital

Patients were left stranded at Harare hospital and theatre operations cancelled on Friday afternoon (today) after the institution ran out of water, a problem which has been ongoing since the beginning of the year.
Patients were left shell shocked when they were told to find their own drinking water from home or just die of thirst.
ZimEye can reveal that the hospital’s conditions have been deteriorating for the greater part of 2013 and women giving birth have been told to bring their own water from home for several months to date.
One mother, Miss Zandile Dzingira told ZimEye in an interview:

“I gave birth at Harare hospital in May and there was no water; we had to call our relatives to bring us water to bath and the bills are just too high. I spent a night there but I was charged $120 and they say you cant leave the hospital until the bill is cleared.

“I was really hurt cause ndaive nema stitch apa (I even had stitches at the time) I was bleeding unoziva kuspenter the whole day usina kugeza apa uri muzvere seriously; they have to do something about that hospital.”

When contacted on Friday, the hospital’s Operations Director, Mr Gwata who was meant to speak to ZimEye on Friday afternoon, diverted telephone calls to the stores department instead when reached for a comment.
At that juncture,  a certain Mr Dliwayo in the department however refused to comment re-diverting our reporter back to Gwata saying he was too junior to speak to the media.
An employee working in the stores department who did not identify himself however blamed the problem on the city council.
“It is a challenge from the council,”  he said.

“Borehole”
A receptionist who talked to ZimEye revealed that the hospital has been experiencing serious problems in recent months. When asked however why they were not making use of borehole technology, she said that there is indeed a borehole but the staff have failed to make it provide for the whole hospital. She did not elaborate what she meant by a failure.

IN PICTURES: Mystery Surrounds Death Of MDC-T Leader Daughter’s Death

A cloud of mystery surrounds death of an MDC-T leader’s daughter in the United Kingdom’s South End On Sea area, who died together with her son in a fire incident in a car yesterday.
As police investigations continue, the family has stated they are going to issue a statement after 6 PM today. This is the reason why this publication did not publish further details pertaining incident at 5.20 PM last night.
There was on Wednesday afternoon a heavy police presence and a very large police cordon spanning for almost a mile at the scene of the fire incident in which the deceased’s vehicle was burnt beyond recognition which inferno resulted in the tragic deaths.
The woman was 43 years old while her son who attended a local college in the area was 16.
‘We are not allowed to say anything to the media or to anyone else pertaining this matter’, a community leader who requested anonymity told ZimEye on Wednesday.
Meanwhile a police officer said they are not ruling out foul play at present.  More to follow…

Mugabe Death Dreadlock Activist Goes Underground

The Denmark based writer Tendai Tagarira who decided to grow dreadlocks and keep them mushrooming in his head until Robert Mugabe has died, has gone underground.
Three years ago Tagarira vowed never to cut his hair until Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has died.
Challenging the ageing dictator Tagarira said: “Tagarira has made himself a pledge. He will not allow his hair to be cut – not to become a Rastafarian – but to protest against Mugabe. When the aging sole ruler of Zimbabwe is dead, Tagarira will get his hair cut to mark a new beginning.”
But Mr Tagarira has since gone underground after as he stated, ‘receiving threats’ against his family members.
Tagarira said he has shut down his Facebook account and gone out of the Zimbabwean public scene because his mother received death threats.
He however did not comment on his Mugabe death dreadlocks if he still has them.
The young writer lives in Denmark and has not been in the digital public for the past 6 months.

Mthwakazi, Siwela Treason Judgement Postponed

The case in which three Matebeleland based citizens Charles Thomas, John Gazi, and Paul Siwela are applying for their treason case to be dismissed, was once again re-scheduled to Thursday.
The reason for the postponement was because the judge was not ready.
The three activists of the Matebeleland Liberation organisation are applying to have the state’s case dismissed on the grounds that evidence presented  by the prosecution is neither credible nor convincing.
The judge merely said the verdict is not ready when the case was convened Tuesday.
“If you remember we made an application for discharge, last time we adjourned…at the close of the state’s case…We made an application that the state has not shown a good case to place them on their defence.” their lawyer Robert Ndlovu told ZimEye soon after the hearing.zimbabwes-treason-wall
The case has seen numerous failures by the state including shifting of statements by police witnesses, and also a judge resigning on the case.
It is very rare in Zimbabwe for court cases to be delayed on the basis the judge is not ready.
The three activists were being tried by the state on charges of possessing literature materials the state deemed to be treasonous.
Numerous opposition politicians have been taken to court since 1982, beginning with the late Joshua Nkomo, Ndabaningi Sithole, Morgan Tsvangirai, and Roy Bennett.

‘Naked Stripping’ Zwambila Struggles Through Court Procedings

The court procedings where outgoing Zimbabwe envoy to Australia Jacqueline Nomhle Zwambila is suing The Herald columnist Reason Wafawarova for defamation over a story published by the same paper in which she allegedly stripped naked before embassy staff, have seen the dates being shifted because Zwambila who has lost her job as Zimbabwe’s envoy to Australia is broke and has been asked to provide a security deposit of $60,000 if the case is to proceed fairly in the Australian courts.
Court proceedings which began in November 2010 continued on Monday November 4 in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Supreme Court in Canberra and were soon postponed.
The story Zwambila is suiing for carried allegations contained in a leaked letter written by three embassy officials to the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Joey Bimha, where the officials reported the envoy had stripped to her undergarments in front of them during a heated argument over an article that had earlier on been published by The Herald. The story for which the envoy is suing was titled “Envoy Allegedly Strips in Front of Staff,” and ran under the byline “Tendai Mugabe and Reason Wafawarova.”
Despite her denial, this story was later confirmed by a top MDC-T activist, Felix Machiridza who lived with Zwambila at her house when he stated that on the day of the stripping, she revealed it at home that she had actually “fixed them.” When she was contacted by ZimEye concerning the same story, Zwambila did not care to reply or comment on the yet very serious allegation.
Ambassador Zwambila’s lawyers have however applied to have Wafawarova’s defence thrown out on the basis that answers to interrogatories had not been given to the plaintiff’s expectation, and also that they did not meet the technical legal requirements in their formatting.
Wafawarova is unrepresented.
Judge Justice Penfold gave the plaintiff up to the 6 th of November to serve the defendant with and the court with the application.
Reason Wafawarova, who is representing himself indicated to the court he too was filing an application to have the whole case thrown out.
Asked by the court why he would do so he argued that in the absence of a security deposit of $60 000, denied by the same court in 2011, there is no prospect of a fair trial given that the plaintiff is a diplomat who was on her way out of Australia.  There is a strong possibility that should the court rule against her suit, defendant would not be able to seek recourse or claim costs, argued Wafawarova.
He further argued that under Article 37 (1) of the Vienna Convention on Immunity and Diplomatic Relations, otherwise known as Diplomatic Immunity Act, plaintiff could refuse to abide by any court ruling unless she is stripped of her diplomatic immunity by Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, something that is highly unlikely, given the response so far given to Wafawarova by the Zimbabwean authorities.

struggling...Ambassador Zwambila
struggling…Ambassador Zwambila

Wafawarova also argued that it is impractical for the defendant, for the court, or for any law enforcement agent in Australia to summon any of the three witnesses to an Australian court, again due to constraints related to the principle of diplomatic immunity. It is important in this case that these witnesses be cross- examined after giving their testimonies.
He argued that in the absence of these key witnesses he cannot see any prospect of a fair trial. He further argued that the court in fact does not have jurisdiction over a matter in which it has no legal power to summon key witnesses, or in fact to enforce its own decisions if plaintiff chooses to defy any of its orders or judgments.
Wafawarova also argued that for three years Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied him clearance for the three key witnesses, and the ministry continues to do so for the remaining witness, after two were recalled to Harare at the end of the tours of duty. Without this clearance it is not possible for defendant to receive a fair trial, Wafawarova argued.
He further argued that Ambassador Zwambila has already been recalled to Zimbabwe at the end of her tour of duty, and her departure is an “obstruction to the rights of the defendant” in the event of any cross claims or counter claim for damages so far suffered as a result of the suit.
He also argued that the allegations in the published story all relate to things that happened “in the exercise of the plaintiff’s functions” and “within the confines of the Zimbabwe embassy,” itself considered at law to be foreign territory. Wafawarova argued that Australian courts “cannot possibly have jurisdiction over such a matter”.
Plaintiff has also indicated in her sworn affidavits that she would be bringing volumes of letters, minutes, disciplinary hearings and other documents from both the embassy and from Harare Foreign Affairs Head Office. The plaintiff argues that these documents are meant to prove a political conspiracy “ to undermine” her and “to prop up the Mugabe regime”.
Wafawarova denies there is any such conspiracy, and has put as his defence that the appearance of his name on the byline could have been erroneous since his only role was to tip The Herald of what had happened, with all investigations and interviews being carried out by The Herald staff in Harare, including the call that was made to Ambassador Zwambila herself.
He also argues that in any event the published story was based on truth, given that the allegations reported by The Herald are in fact contained in the letter written by the three officials to Mr Bimha, and also in other documents supplied to court by the plaintiff.
Justice Penfold gave Wafawarova up to 28 December to file his application for the dismissal of the case, with evidence that the Foreign Affairs Ministry refuses to clear the witnesses.
Wafawarova was also given until 28 November to respond to the plaintiff’s application for the striking off of his defence submission. He was advised to seek independent legal advice on how to go about with the submissions.
The hearing which was scheduled for the 28th and 29th of November was vacated to a date to be established after the two applications from both sides are looked at by the court.

“Chombo Giving Meikles Park to Chinese”

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Local Government Ignatius Chombo is preparing to hand over Mutare’s prestigious Meikles Park to Chinese merchants, it has emerged.
This revelation comes following the below letter penned by former mayor Brian James who writes expressing concern for this development. Contacted for comment Mutare council’s City Housing Director, Mr. Mapurisa, confirmed that the city is critically short of land for development, both commercial and residential but this project appears to be going ahead regardless.

Open letter to Hon Member of Parliament (Mutare Central) Mr. Innocent Gonese

By Brian James
Further to our brief telephone conversation yesterday I submit details of the Govt. proposed intention with the City’s (Mutare) Meikles Park. We ask if you could, with your influence in Parliament, lobby for its retention as a public space for the benefit of all Mutareans and their visitors.
Some years ago the government, through the local Govt Min. Chombo, indicated to the City Management that they had identified Meikles Park in Mutare for development in “the national interest’, and Council was directed by Min. Chombo to hand Meikles Park over to the Govt. They proposed a land swap of Meikles Park for state land surrounding the Dangamvura link road turn off. It was their intention to give/ sell Meikles Park to Angin and their Zimbabwean military partners for the development of a 14 story hotel and supermarket complex.
To date no indication has been given as to the exact nature of the ‘national interest’ mentioned, and many of us fail to understand how a purely private commercial enterprise can constitute such ‘national interest’.
Several petitions objecting to this deal, the misuse of our City’s donated public space (Meikles Park), and the abuse of state land for private gain, were handed in to Council earlier this year. Despite these we have recently been informed by the City Housing Director, Mr. Mapurisa, that because the city is critically short of land for development, both commercial and residential that this project appears to be going ahead regardless.
Some would argue that the City needs the development for job creation etc etc and on that we fully concur. However, it was pointed out to the Minister and those supporting this sale that other sights are in fact available for this sort of development, one of which is the ground opposite the main swimming baths on which a Sakunda Service station has been built (there is still room to accommodate a hotel alongside the garage). Another site would be on the very state land that government has offered to swap with council, as it is envisaged that this state land would be the start of a second central business district.
Meikles Park is to Mutarean residents what Unity Square is to Harareans and Centenary Square to the Bulawayo residents. Without this public space, Mutareans would be prejudiced of central city space for large social events, and workers within the CBD would be denied relaxation space during the day.
The Housing Director, in his feeble attempt to justify this project, stated that the City had no where to expand! He stated that the western expansion to the Odzi river through Transsau Estate had been blocked by the resettlement of Chiadzwa inhabitants. This is not entirely correct, as the resettlement only takes up a small portion of the Transsau Estate and in due course this resettlement would be incorporated into the city’s authoritative area. The Housing Director also stated that Northerly expansion had been blocked by the resettlement of communal farmers on former commercial land, and that this now prohibits urban expansion! This cannot be true as this principal would stifle all urban expansion within the country.
We urge you take up this matter with the utmost urgency as we believe that the land swap is imminent, if not already enacted. We are already initiating further petitions and public awareness and would urge you to do the same.
Best regards,
Brian James.

RAPE COURT CASE LATEST: Mines Minister’s Father, 75, Walks Free

Murombedzi: There was drama at Murombedzi growth point Wednesday when the father of Mines Minister, Walter Chidhakwa, got relief from a case in which he stands accused of raping a 15 year old relative of his wife’s.
Mr Augustine Chidhakwa who is a 75 years old Zanu-PF and National Constitutional Assembly member, is President Robert Mugabe’s nephew and when he was arrested last week, he was released on the same day under unclear circumstances.
The case was then scheduled to be investigated in a pre-trial session on Wednesday morning.

Rape charges... Mines Minister Walter Chidhakwa's father

But before the case could be convened, the family had already received communication that it could not be taken because of what was claimed to be a “lack of evidence,” relatives said.
Our reporter arrived at Murombedzi on Wednesday and found relatives deserting the place with downcast faces. They refused to comment any further although one man told this reporter:
“We haven’t even been given a possible future date for a hearing and this is just not right,” he said adding that he greatly fears that the case will never see justice because of powerful hands meddling with the courts. It is believed that if the issue of evidence was a credible reason, then they would have at least given a future date to after the ninth month when further substantive DNA tests could be performed after birth since the girl, who cannot be named, is currently 5 months pregnant.
Furthermore other immediate tests could have been performed where fluids are extracted and tested for DNA several months before the child is born.
When contacted last week, Mashonaland West Police Spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara however confirmed the case but after further questions refused to give details, escalating the matter to police national spokesperson Charity Charamba. However, when telephoned Mrs Charamba deflected questions back to Mabgweazara who then refused to comment.
In the case allegations are that Augustine Chidhakwa had been raping the victim,  his wife’s sister, at their village home in Zvimba, since June this year and was discovered by his wife after it was revealed that her young sister was pregnant.
Mrs Chidhakwa then reported the matter to Murombedzi Police Station who arrested Chidhakwa. He was released on the very same day without an explanation being given.
The girl who was doing her Grade Six at a primary school in Zvimba last year, is now 5 months pregnant.

“Yes it is true that we told the family this last Monday but please do not ask me any more questions and do not use my name because I am not authorised”,  said one cop.
It has been alleged that Mr Musegedi may have been murdered for political reasons but to date no evidence of his involvement in such activities has been found.

Kasukuwere Humiliated, Detained At German Airport

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Environment, Water and Climate, Saviour Kasukuwere was yesterday humiliated after he was detained and treated like a prisoner by German Immigration Department police when he landed in Munich while in transit to Poland where he is  attending the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Convention
Minister Kasukuwere spoke Saturday of his ordeal which ended up involving Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Germany Hebson Makuvise’s intervention.
Kasukuwere revealed he was detained for “two and half hours,” in a tiny room during a time when he was informed security systems had detected him as an unwanted individual on German territory.
Kasukuwere’s detention comes barely two weeks after Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi received the same treatment in London, and flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa was totally denied entry into the UK at the same time.
Kasukuwere described his ordeal as very troublesome.
“At Munich, Germany in the morning, briefly detained for 2hrs 30min. Now safely arrived in Poland. Zvakaoma,” said Kasukuwere on arrival in Poland after escaping German detention.
“Problems started when I landed at Munich International Airport around 6am today. As we were walking from the arrival terminal, police details and security agents appeared as if they were carrying their usual airport checks but as soon as they got hold of my passport, they all swooped on me.
“They stopped searching all the other people and I suddenly became the centre of attraction as they escorted me to a police post within the airport and they detained me in a small room for two and half hours. As soon as we got into this room, they took away my passport and gave me some document saying I was supposed to be subjected to some security checks. The police details consulted with higher authorities and shuttled from one office to the other.
“I asked them what was the problem and they told me that their security system had alerted them that an undesirable element was about to enter into their country. They searched me and checked all my details and after a while, they left me to sit alone in this tiny room not knowing what was going on,” said Cde Kasukuwere.
He continued: “It was quite some experience but I wasn’t surprised. I then spoke to the Germany Ambassador in Zimbabwe who made frantic efforts to call these police details to no avail. I sat in this tiny room on some bench and all I could do was just to read my prayer book.”
Kasukuwere said that he battled to explain albeit without success to the police details that he was on his way to a UN meeting in Poland but they would not listen.
“I went further querying why as a diplomat I was being kept in this tiny room but they maintained that they were doing their job,” he said.
He added
“After about two and half hours of uncertainty, one of the police officials just came in and handed me my passport. He then hurriedly left and I was really taken aback by this treatment. I think this had something to do with the illegal sanctions but no one mentioned this to me. This was quite some experience.
I was only freed around 8:45am. This treatment was totally uncalled for.
“After I had been released, the Germany Ambassador to Zimbabwe contacted me and he was very apologetic about the whole ordeal. He gave me assurance that this would never happen again.”
Meanwhile Walter Mzembi the Tourism Minister revealed he is only allowed into the UK only once a year and this in November, as a part of British or EU smart sanctions against him and several members of Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party.

Drama as Top Mutare Prosecutor Charged for Allegedly Working for Tsvangirai

There  was drama yesterday when a prominent prosecutor at the Mutare Magistrates Court, was hurled before a tribunal on allegations of supporting the MDC led by Morgan Tsvangirai in a case in which some MDC-T officials are ironically the very same people seeking to have the prosecutor expelled.
Mr Samuel Chabuka’s furnace of affliction was set alight after supporters of the loosing candidate for Chikanga-Dangamvura Giles Mutsekwa accused him of supporting the winner for the constituency in the just ended elections, Arnold Tsunga.
It was alleged that Chabuka had been prosecuting cases affecting Mutsekwa’s faction while tolerating those of Tsunga’s.Magistrate; Judge
The supporters who include key employees working for Mutsekwa alleged that Chabuka has been campaigning for Arnold Tsunga and actually to this date holds the position of Secretary for Publicity for Chikanga-Dangamvura. Key witnesses include Malfus Tsenga, (Mutsekwa’s chief election agent and the party’s District Secretary), Kingston Mutandi (Organising Secretary for Chikanga-Dangamvura) who have all testified that Sam Chabuka is an active member of MDC-T and that he should not be employed as a State prosecutor. There was drama when Malfus Tsenga presented a letter document written by him with the address of 22 Dawson Road, Mutare. It was immediately noted that this is Giles Mutsekwa’s office address and so Tsenga had already damaged the case through this.
The Disciplinary hearing was chaired by the Human Resources Director in the Public Service, Maxwel Ranga.
But the MDC-T has denied those allegations. The party position was explained by Provincial Spokesperson Mr. Pishai Muchauraya who said it is not true that Chabika holds a party position.
“Samuel Chabuka does not hold a position in our party,” he said.
Muchauraya confirmed that Mutsekwa’s faction members are indeed testifying against Chabuka in court on the allegations.
Efforts to obtain a comment from Giles Mutsekwa were fruitless as his phone rang without being answered.
Mutandi is also ironically the chauffeur for the controversial MDC-T rebel and Mutare Mayor Tatenda Nhamarare. But when contacted on Saturday morning, Mutandi said he has always been a council chauffeur since 2003.” I have always been working for the council since 2003,” he told ZimEye.org
When contacted, Mr Chabuka himself refused to talk saying he would telephone back later.
Mutsekwa is the MDC-T’s Defence and intelligence Secretary.
The hearing continues…

Prosper Takudzwa Musegedi’s tortured body was found yesterday and police have said they have never witnessed the level of cruelty inflicted on his body. A spokesperson reporting for the family told ZimEye on Thursday morning, the badly mutilated body’s condition was to the extent that his eyes were gouged out while the rest of his body had other deadly bruises.
The 34 year old father of two girls, had been missing since the 10th October 2013.

The family are in serious shock and they are appealing to the members of the public to assist in capturing the people who tortured and killed Prosper.
“We are appealing for information that can lead to the arrest of the people who killed Prosper.”
“Prosper’s body was found on the 13th of November 2013 dumped in a dam in Ruzawe, Marondera.”
“The body was heavily tortured and his eyes had been gouged out. His hands were tied together with a wire. The CID investigating the case said they have never seen such cruelty.

How it all happened
Another family spokesman added that days after he went missing, his salary for the month of October was still not withdrawn from his bank account and there was no activity on his Facebook page.
“Prosper left his family home in Chitungwiza on the 10th of October around 1530hrs. On his way out he said he was going to the local shops and never returned home,” the spokesman said.
“The following morning he phoned his wife saying he was on his way home but did not say where he was although the wife says the background noise sounded like a busy kombi/bus rank.
“That was the last phone call Prosper made to his wife. Since then his phone has been off and we also noticed that his Facebook profile had been taken down.
“We have reported the case to the police but nothing has come up yet and we are appealing to members of the public for help.
The family were forced to engage private investigators to try and track him down. His wife is extremely anguished and his daughters cry all the time asking for their dad.

Zimbabwe: MDC-T Dossier, SPIN – Fidelis Fengu Speaks

The Deputy Chairperson of the Special Advisory Board in the Ministry of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment, Fidelis Fengu has spoken to ZimEye following rumours that he is prepared to testify in court for the MDC-T’s special dossier on alleged vote rigging.
Mr Fengu(FF) also spoke concerning an organisation he started and is coordinating in Harare which is condemned by the notorious faceless Facebook character Baba Jukwa, SPIN which as he defends it, is called the “Social Political Innovators Network.”
INTERVIEW:

QN:During the run up to the last elections, were you not linked to and involved in vote rigging activities?
FF:It has been said that I participated in alleged vote rigging, and these are baseless allegations that seek to tarnish my reputation as a political innovator. Most of the constituencies in Bulawayo Province where I had vested interests were lost to the opposition and the few constituencies where we went and helped out we did very well. Team ZANU PF was well prepared for this election and Zimbabweans demonstrated the faith they have in President R. G. Mugabe and wise leadership, policies and personal philosophies that set him apart from other contenders. This election belonged to the Children of Zimbabwe and it was about choosing Empowerment over JUICE.
QN: There is this report circulating about you are prepared and ready to testify in an election trial on vote rigging unearthed by the MDC-T. What is your position regarding this and can you hint us?
FF:There are rumours that I will be cited in some dossier or court action on these poll fraud allegations I have not been approached by anyone and if anyone intends to approach me then they best be informed that they are barking up the wrong tree. It seems like the name Fidelis Fengu is fast becoming a news item on electronic media and anyone who seeks attention now uses my name, maybe I should start charging people for the mentions; lol, get a life because zvangu zvirikubhadhara. Some have accused me of being part of the Job Sikhala – Madhuku alliance, truth of the matter is that I would rather be part of the Unity, Peace, Development machinery than any other formation in Zimbabwe, and if I were in South Africa I am sure I would be part of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)screamer_fengu
QN: Were you involved in acts of aggression, and voter intimidation?
FF:There never was any intimidation or aggression, it was like asking out a girl, (kupfimba), we went out to convince people to love ZANU PF and to love Cde. R. G. Mugabe and the team of candidates that had been set. You do not intimidate the person you love. Comrades like Psychology Maziwisa and others lead a spirited peaceful campaign that aggressively pushed the ZANU PF empowerment ideology and their work paid off. They must be commended and educuate those that lost from Team ZANU PF so they can learn how to mount a successful campaign.
QN: Are you linked to an alleged terror youth group in Harare and the rest of Mashonaland East?
FF:I am not linked and neither do I wish to be linked to any terror group anywhere in Zimbabwe. I prefer a peaceful approach, let our ideas battle each other while our hands work to put food on our tables.
QN: What about allegations of your involvement in a youth investment endeavour called “SPIN,” as alleged on social networking website Facebook?
FF: SPIN is an idea. It is the Social Political Innovators Network. We get together and discuss social and political innovations that are good for constituencies, communities and the country as a whole. Some misconstrue the role or work of SPIN and others just wish to burn every good work meant for the good of the country. We do not handle or run any investments. I own a private investment company called FACT Africa Investments, and this entity does not have any business interests in Zimbabwe.
Thank you very much.

Zimbabwe: 1,000 Elephants Killed

Over one thousand (1,000) elephants have been killed in Zimbabwe in less than 4 years 2008 to 2012, it has been reported. But this number is way below that of South Africa where in just twelve months elephants of the same number were slain by poachers.

This was revealed during Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi’s address to the international affairs think tank, Chatham House on Friday.
Below was part of his address on this issue:
Ladies and Gentlemen,

“Let me turn to the issues of ecological disaster that you might have read with respect to lacing of water holes and salt licks by cyanide in Hwange National Park, which is part of the Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area. The KAZA is the biggest wildlife sanctuary in the world with the largest population of elephants. Ordinarily, that makes wildlife a magnet for tourism development. However, the current trend of wildlife poaching using biological chemicals, present a huge challenge for us as a country and the Southern African region. It will undermine tourism economic growth. To this end, the death of more than 100 elephants in Hwange National Park, following collapse of conservation programmes due to underfunding and withdrawal of support by the international financial markets has created a huge gap on environmental security and sustainable biodiversity conservation in Zimbabwe.

Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi with UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai
Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi with UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai

“I wish to state that even when countries are in frosty relations, this should not affect the wildlife we hold so dear to our hearts as our global commons. The wild elephants, the rhinos, the buffaloes, the leopards, the lions, just to mention the Big Five, know no political differences and political boundaries. However, the question is, should we allow political differences to play game while biodiversity and conservation of our pristine flora and fauna are being decimated? I wish to share with you that the death of elephants in Hwange National Park of Zimbabwe, is a tip of the iceberg. We need to address the issues together to protect our ecosystems and all that is in it. Africa is suffering huge haemorrhaging and pillaging of wildlife resources due to increase demand of wildlife products in foreign markets in Asia, here in Europe and the Americas. In fact, there is indisputable empirical evidence, which show that biodiversity and wildlife in Africa face enormous threats. Consequently, these undermine tourism as a quick-win to stimulate accelerated development in Africa whose tourism is known to be dependent on pristine flora and fauna. The situation looks ruinous, take for example, the case of elephant population in Africa. According to Elephant Action League (www.http://elephantleague.org/the-ivory-curse/), by the beginning of the 19th Century, Elephants in North Africa were at 27 million, this number went down to 5 million at the beginning of the 20th century, dropped further to 1.3 million elephants in 1981, 700,000 in 1988, 600,000 in 1990 (when the international ban on ivory trade was then implemented), 500,000 by 1998, 400-500,000 now (with 35-40,000 elephants estimated to being killed each year). This trend of elephant carnage, as well as that of rhinos depletion, is solely due to poaching that reverses overall positive population growth in the long-term, which had been realised since ivory ban in 1990.

Brief country specific experiences
COUNTRY
NUMBER OF ELEPHANTS KILLED
YEAR
1.      Cameroon
500 elephants in Bouda N’Djida National Park were wiped off within a month.
From January-February 2012
2.      Sierra Leone
The entire elephant population was confirmed wiped out in 2011.
2011
3.      The Democratic Republic of Congo
In 48 hours in March 2012, 22 elephants were rounded up in Garamba National Park during helicopter-borne attack by professional poachers. (The use of helicopters is not new since this is suspected to have occurred in Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe in 2011).
2012
4.      Tanzania
Reports from research say poachers kill 30 elephants a day.
Day average
5.      Kenya
187 elephants were poached in 2010, 289 in 2011 and 384 in 2012. Encounters with poachers resulted in the killing of rangers including a pregnant ranger, F. Hadia Abae in 2012 who was in her line of duty.
2010, 2011 and 2012,
6.      South Africa
Prominent poaching targets mainly rhinos and elephants. In 2013, close to 1000 elephants were killed and for rhinos 333 were killed in 2010, 445 in 2011, 668 in 2012 and 637 as at 13 September 2013).
2010, 2011, 2012 and 13 Sept 2013
7.      Zimbabwe
Over 100 elephants were laced to death from June-August 2013, over 1000 elephants were killed from 2008-2012, and between 2009-2012, and 300 buffalos, 42 rhinos and 21 lions were also killed.
2013,2008-2012 and 2009-2012
Clearly, this form of environmental and ecological terrorism demands that we take action together for the cause of nature and sustainable development in Africa. Dealing with the signs and symptoms of decimation of wildlife, is intimately a tactical approach, while dealing with causes at varying levels is a strategic issue. Arising from this problem of wildlife poaching is my clarion call for renewed spirit to the extent that I have escalated to UNWTO as the current UNWTO Commission for Africa Chairman I preside over for the next three years, the need to assist African countries. This has been accepted. I therefore, appeal to concerned individuals, NGOs, Governments and the entire global conservation community and environmental philanthropies to take action in protecting the ‘global commons’ in Africa. It is my humble submission that during my tenure, as CAF Chairman, I focus on Tourism and Biodiversity as a legacy vision that I seek to plant in our midst, inspired by our UNWTO 2010 World Tourism Day theme on Tourism and Biodiversity. The running theme that I am appealing for collaboration and support for sustainable tourism driven development of our economies is on Tourism and Biodiversity: Zero Tolerance on Poaching in Africa by 2020.

MDC-T Refuses To Fund Tsvangirai & Chamisa ‘Expensive Trips’

MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai and his Medvedev-junior Nelson Chamisa are grounded after the party for the first time refused to fund their trips both international and local.

The reasons for the funding crisis are centred around Tsvangirai’s failure to coordinate diaspora structures who have been a vital source of revenue, it has emerged.

When Tsvangirai flew to the United Kingdom last month a trip funded rather by Oxford University, he was meant to have traveled together with Nelson Chamisa which trip failed after Harvest House failed to raise the money. An appeal was then made to the UK province which is headed by chairman Tonderai Samanyanga who responded with an embarrassing negative. The UK province used to stock tranches of tens of thousands of British pounds sterling in its accounts and that money dwindled after a money laundering scandal emerged which appointee Sam Sipepa Nkomo investigated whose contents were never made public.

When reached for a comment, Mr Samanyanga refused to comment saying it was an internal issue as he confirmed, but refused to shed light any further.

“All I can tell you is the President had an invitation to go to Oxford University,

“The coming of Chamisa you will need to talk to him about it. I only follow directives from my leadership.”

“Its an internal issue., ” he said.

Tsvangirai grounded.

According to the weekly paper The Standard Morgan Tsvangirai is grounded as it emerged Saturday the party is refusing to finance his countrywide tours.

This comes as calls intensify for Tsvangirai to step down from the helm of the party after a crushing defeat to President Robert Mugabe.

Of late some senior officials have come out calling for leadership renewal to revive the party ahead of the 2018 elections.

Sources within the party claim the officials seeking leadership renewal have been responsible for sourcing money to fund party activities, but have since stopped because Tsvangirai has refused to step down.

Exiled MDC-T treasurer general, Roy Bennett has been the link between MDC-T and the donor community.

Through him, the party was pampered with money to bankroll its activities in Zimbabwe, hoping that it was going to form the next government.

In Zimbabwe former Energy minister, Elton Mangoma, who is said to be spearheading the quest to “renew and re-invigorate the party”, has been the party treasurer and controls the finances.

“Mangoma has refused to fund the tours claiming they were not budgeted for. The tours are essential to thwart any leadership renewal calls. This is in contrast to what he should be doing. Once the national executive makes a decision he is obliged to do so, however this time around he didn’t,” said a senior party official.

“It is shocking that Tsvangirai is funding the visits from his own pocket, and that is the reason they had to reschedule the trips.”

The Standard was told Saturday there have been concerted efforts to destroy MDC-T from within, in the run up to the elections through under funding.

“Money used for campaigns was less than US$100 000. T-shirts printed were less than 200 000, which means each district got a paltry 800,” a senior party official said.

The official said the recent retrenchment in the party was done to flush out people sympathetic to Tsvangirai.

The official said Tsvangirai was sabotaged even during the negotiations, when the party negotiators allowed Zanu PF to prevail.

MDC-T spokesperson, Douglas Mwonzora said he had not heard of the allegations, adding that anything to do with Tsvangirai’s itinerary was best handled by secretary-

general, Tendai Biti and organising secretary, Nelson Chamisa.

Chamisa and Mangoma referred all questions back to Mwonzora as the party spokesperson.

Mwonzora’s number was unavailable on our second attempt to contact him.

Sources claim the senior party officials are holding secret meetings to force an early extraordinary party congress to be held in March next year to effect leadership change.

In their plans as reported by our sister paper, The Zimbabwe Independent, former Harare mayor Elias Mudzuri is tipped to take over as party president in a line-up that

also comprises former ministers in the coalition government with Zanu PF which ended in July after four years.

Writing in The Standard recently, Mudzuri proffered five scenarios to rescue the party.

He suggested that the status-quo remains and MDC go for the 2016 Congress with the current leadership.

Mudzuri said there could be an extraordinary congress before 2016 to choose new leaders.

As scenario three, Mudzuri said Tsvangirai and the whole team are contested at the 2016 Congress and a new leadership emerges in the MDC.

In scenario four Tsvangirai becomes the godfather of the party. He steps down ceremoniously and a new leader is elected. He becomes a “Mandela” of the party. Structures are re-engineered including the party constitution, which will limit the future party president to two terms only.

Lastly, Mudzuri proffered that Tsvangirai does not step down. He keeps the support base and those unhappy can form their own party or join the various sprouting political outfits in the country.

Tsvangirai is digging in, riding on the massive support he enjoys among MDC-T supporters and his camp insists the former trade unionist will secure another nomination to contest the 2018 polls.

MDC-T Secretary General, Biti said MDC-T had no money and was retrenching.

“The party does not have money and that is why we are retrenching. It is a fact that we get money from government through Political Parties Finance Act and the government is broke,” Biti said. “We don’t have diamonds like other political parties.” (The Standard/ additional reporting ZimEye)

ZimVigil Protesters Were Miserably Choreographed: Mzembi

Zimbabwe’s Tourism Minister has taken a swipe at Ephraim Tapa’s Zim Vigil protesters who raised placards against him advocating for the perpetuation of sanctions on Friday outside the think-tank London’s Chatham House where the Minister was delivering a speech.

Speaking during an address to the diaspora community a few hours later, Minister Mzembi said he was shocked to see the group who held out placards written: ‘Who poisoned the elephants?’, ‘Who is destroying the forests?’ and ‘Who is stealing the diamonds?’

They cannot be true Zimbabweans, and if they are, their brains are certainly remote controlled by aliens, Minister Mzembi hinted.

” When I looked out to see who was out there, there were (just) five people (standing) who were clearly choreographed to hold posters and placards, placards of all sorts,” said Mzembi.

Mzembi called upon people in the diaspora to launch counter-campaigns against western sanctions.walter-mzembi

“You can use your (own) placard network, social platforms your Facebook work to highlight your country’s plight …” said Mzembi.

Efforts such as the Vigil’s represented by a few individuals are not Zimbabwean at heart and are futile, hinted Mzembi.

But in a statement the leading campaigner of the Vigil protest, Fungai Mabhunu appeared to dismiss the Mzembi’s statements although not denying that they were just 5 people outside Chatham House.

“The particular kind of protest we were making was not a violent one, we were only dishing out leaflets to people as they enter,” said Mabhunu.

When asked what the Vigil’s position is on sanctions, Mabhunu said that sanctions against Zimbabwe should remain in place.

For the past 11 years, western countries have imposed what they termed smart sanctions on Zimbabwe intended to affect only Robert Mugabe and a few other members of the ruling elite. But many of the sanctions actually do affect ordinary people and more than a decade later, local Zimbabweans cannot perform basic international business activities such as operating a Paypal account, and sending money via US companies such as Western Union from within Zimbabwe. In the same vein, small businesses wishing to advertise on big companies such as the US based social platform Facebook, are struggling since they have blocked Zimbabwe demographic data which are vital for e-commerce operations.

Zimbabwe:Convicted Komichi To Rely On ‘Vote Rigging Dossier’

The MDC-T deputy national chairperson Senator Morgen Komichi who was yesterday sentenced to 350 hours of community service, is to rely on a dossier on election rigging to assist in his appeal, it has emerged.
The MDC-T party has announced that Komichi “is innocent and that he is being victimised for exposing electoral fraud”, spokesman Douglas Mwonzora said yesterday.
Komichi was charged in July for fraud and contravening the Electoral Act after he was reportedly given a stray ballot paper found in a bin at the Harare International Conference Centre, and handed it over to Zimbabwe Electoral Commission senior officials evidence which he said proved that the election was rigged.
But the prosecution fought him saying he had actually illegally dabbled into election materials with the intention of discrediting the elections.
The MDC-T party has however announced a dossier on election rigging it argues proves that Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party utilised the armed forces to illegally influence the election outcome.

komichi
Morgan Komichi

But ZANU PF has dismissed the vote rigging claims saying they have no basis of fact. Below was a long argument by ZANU PF’s UK chairman Nick Mangwana in his rebuttal titled :“Response to MDC‐Elections Defeat” :

“Initially they spoke of a mutating paper. Now we don’t hear it anymore. A sci‐fi idea which they abandoned possibly because of its embarrassing nature.

•They mention $100m allegedly used to rig without even saying at what point this money was used to affect the electoral process. The fact is not whether there was a $100 m or not ( which they still have to prove) but how it subverted the electoral process.

•Then they mention multiple voting by individuals. Really? How about the indelible ink? If the ink was not indelible for real we would have seen and had a melodramatic song and dance from some of these guys showing how much they can wash off the ink. But no it was taking 2 weeks. If you remove the issue of the ink out of the equation, you remove multiple voting and automatically undermine a big part of their frivolous so‐called dossier.

•Regarding Nikuv, which country has never contracted or outsourced a service? Why should that be an issue. As you know Nikuv specialises in Data bases.

•This whole thing is a ploy do unlock donor funds as well as giving a life line to their failed leadership. If you go on the ground in Zimbabwe and speak to people, ask them whether they would vote Tsvangirayi, the vast majority would still laugh at you. Every objective poll demonstrated ZPF romping home with a landslide. Now the chickens have come to roost. You sow to the wind, you reap a whirlwind.

•We cannot continue to have this outfit holding the country at ransom affecting the country’s credit rating and investor confidence with redundant questions of legitimacy in a bid to appease their handlers.”

In addition to his sentence, Komichi spent a total 97 days in remand at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison while awaiting trial.

MDC-T Vehicle Seized at Parliament House, Youth Leader Has No Drivers License

An MDC-T vehicle was on Thursday afternoon seized after it was found that the youth leader driving it, Costa Machingauta is not authorised to drive it.
Further reports were made that Machingauta who is the party’s deputy Youth Assembly chairman actually does not have a drivers’ license.

This led to Council police swooping in and having been directed by Parliament authorities to impound it.
“It was being abused by the Assembly’s deputy chair Costa Machingauta and wrongly parked it outside parliament,” a senior source told ZimEye Thursday afternoon.
“Under normal circumstances it is a breach of party rules for party officials to drive party vehicles.
Only party drivers are allowed by the party to drive party vehicles.”
The incident occurred after an MDC parliamentarian had reported the alleged breach.

School Girl Run Over, Killed Along Harare Drive

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripA yet to be named school girl was run over in Harare Drive on Thursday morning while heading to school.
Reports say the accident occurred along Harare Drive close to the traffic light which demarcates Ashdown Park and Cotswold Hills.
“It is with great shock and sadness that I have learnt of the tragic death of a school girl who was run over this morning along Harare Drive,” announced Harare West MP Jessie Majome.
“Barely a month after another fatal accident on Harare Drive which claimed the life of Dr. Chironga and earlier in the year we lost a Hallingbury Grade 7 pupil Delan Dzimunya, Majome said.
“One life lost, is one life to many and here before the year ends 3 lives taken. The issue of Traffic safety needs to be addressed along Harare Drive. The traffic light just before Ashdown Drive needs to be repaired and the 2 zebra crossings on Harare Drive repainted.
“My prayers are with her family at this sad and difficult time,” she added.

Mzembi Humiliated, Detained At London Airport

Zimbabwe’s Tourism Minister HON Walter Mzembi was ‘humiliated’ and reportedly treated in a manner similar to ANC’s Tokyo Sexwale after he was detained by a junior civil servant of the UK Border Agency and interrogated after landing in London at the weekend, ZimEye can reveal.
Minister Mzembi confirmed this during a Chiyangwa function on Saturday night which he attended while nursing tiredness from the airport ordeal. Phillip Chiyangwa could not attend that same meeting after he was denied permission to fly his private jet into the UK.
Mzembi said he was detained for more “than an hour,” while being questioned on various issues connected to sanctions without elaborating on exactly what those questions where.
During the meeting on Saturday, Mzembi also said that he is allowed into the UK only once a year and this in (the sacred month of the goat) November, as a part of British smart sanctions against him and several members of Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party.

While Mzembi was lamenting about his ordeal, just 50 miles away, MDC-T’s MP for Bulawayo East Thabitha Khumalo was simultaneously celebrating in an Oxford meeting that she had been granted a long five year-stretch multiple entry visa to visit the UK at any time of her choice.
Phillip Chiyangwa’s daughter Stephanie has hinted to ZimEye that the reason her father was denied entry into the UK (and possibly why Mzembi was detained) was because certain people resident in the UK complained to the British government expressing their hatred and disapproval of Chiyangwa’s function.
Mzembi however implored diasporans to unite.
“The only thing that we know about is that you hate yourselves in the diaspora, and we then say to ourselves how do we help you if you are unable to find each other here,?” said Mzembi.

Zwambila Stripping Naked Court Case Begins

(Canberra, Australia)The case in which Zimbabwe’s controversial ambassador to Australia Jacqueline Zwambila is suing a journalist for defaming her following an allegation that she stripped naked before embassy staff members began yesterday Monday morning.
BACKGROUND:
Zwambila reportedly stripped her clothes in front of embassy staff in protest that they were leaking information to the state media. She however managed to bring an Australian newspaper that re-published the news to its knees as she snatched an out of court settlement of at least 60,000 dollars.
The major reason used for pulling down the Australian paper was that their journalists failed to obtain her personal comment before publishing the story. But not long after that, she triggered greater suspicion as she ironically ignored and continued to snub journalists seeking consultation on the same matter.
As for another journalist targeted by Zwambila, the Australia based journo Reason Wafawarova, he had assisted a Harare correspondent in writing the first story on the alleged stripping news breaker.

Going to night school - ambassador Jacqueline Zwambila

A new Zwambila controversy soon sprung shortly after the alleged stripping incident which is believed now validates that she had truly stripped naked before junior embassy staff. News broke that she had allegedly lured and then abused her own butler who is a loyal long serving member of her MDC-T party. Various evidence pieces were presented before her in an inquiry on the matter but she instead attempted to threaten to sue instead of responding to the media questions, sideswiping the national value of her reputation in which she represents the Zimbabwean nation instead of just her party.
ARGUMENTS:
Meanwhile several arguments with a burden of evidence were presented to judges during yesterday’s preliminary hearing. Ms Zwambila however has several impediments in her way with which she will have to prove first of all, that in the event that she looses she will not refuse to pay applicable court cost awards. Another key matter is on the issue of jurisdiction since the alleged act was done on Zimbabwean soil (Embassy in Canberra.
There are also two official letters revealing the incident was recognised at government level and was clearly adopted into foreign affairs discussions. The first is a letter written by a diplomat complaining to Harare about the incident, and the second is a letter written by the ministry from its Harare office in response to the report.

The hearing continues on 30th November.

Chiyangwa Barred From Flying His Jet Into UK

Flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa was last week barred from entering the UK, his daughter has revealed.
Chiyangwa who was meant to fly his private jet together with performing artists Lloyd Tevedzai, Kapfupi and Marabha for his daughter’s book launch function, was told at the last minute he would not be allowed to fly his jet following complaints that he was to hold a political meeting there, his daughter Stephanie said.

Barred from entering UK … Phillip Chiyangwa

Stephanie who lives in London had advertised the function with her father’s face on the front cover of brochures as the main guest of honour.
But the brochures also included Strive Masiyiwa’s name as well. Masiyiwa who is perceived to be a supporter of the opposition MDC party never turned up reasons for which were neither declared nor known publicly at the time of writing.
It was only three artists performing at the function who were allowed after anonymous callers reportedly telephoned the UK Border Agency complaining that Chiyangwa was to hold a political meeting there. Stephanie said the same callers also telephoned the hotel threatening attacks on the building because of Phillip Chiyangwa’s presence.
According to Stephanie, the reason why her father’s journey was blocked is because of the threats.
‘Someone called the Home Office and the hotel threatening and saying that we were going to conduct a political meeting,’ she said. During the July elections she remotely campaigned from her UK home for her father to win the Chinhoyi constituency.
When the event was finally held on Saturday night, the only high profile person present was Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi.
Meanwhile it was claimed that Chiyangwa has finally been granted a UK visa after an appeal and will be arriving in London on Friday, reports which have remained unverified for validity.

Welshman Ncube Tightens Discipline in Own Party

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripMDC party leader Prof. Welshman Ncube has moved to tighten screws of discipline in his party which has experienced numerous desertions in recent days.
Ncube yesterday met with members of the party’s Matabeleland South provincial leadership in a robust but cordial and progressive atmosphere.
The meeting was the first of a series of engagements which the president and leadership of the party will undertake in the province for purposes of sharing views, interrogating various opinions and finally arriving at a global understanding and constructive conclusion on all issues pertaining to the province.
According the party’s spokesman Nhlanhla Dube, yesterday’s meeting was attended by a broad representation which included the province’s main wing, women and youth assembly.
The provincial leadership reiterated its commitment to strict adherence to party protocol in all matters of the party and as such the province will only communicate its decisions through the provincial spokesperson, any other voice would be regarded as an individual’s opinion not representative of the provincial position, said Dube.
The provincial leadership further noted and accepted that the national disciplinary committee had, acting within its constitutional mandate, taken a decision in the matter regarding the former provincial chairman Mr. Petros Mukwena.
The members of the provincial leadership then made an undertaking that after further consultations within the province, a follow up meeting will be held with the party president and national leadership within the month of November 2013 to continue with the internal engagement process, Dube said.

Eric Knight In Secret Affair With 19 Year Old Girl

Former ZBC DJ and aspiring MP, Eric Knight is in a secret affair with a 19 year old girl which has disturbed family members, ZimEye can reveal.
Mr Knight, a political chancer who fell from grace in an embarrassing-thud for Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC when the party mysteriously catapulted him to become a special parliamentary candidate outside rules, and soon lost the recent elections for the Mbare constituency before spinning again and joining ZANU PF overnight, is in love with 19 year old Ayanda Shekede.
Ayanda, who lives with her parents in the prestigious Mandara suburb of Harare, confirmed the affair before linking our reporter with Eric on Sunday evening.

Having ‘been intimate’ with Eric recently, she told our reporter she is not looking to get married to him as she is in a private affair, ” This is a private affair I am not looking to become a celebrity’s wife,” she said adding that she also knows Knight is married.
When she was asked why she both appeared and sounded dejected while talking about Eric she responded staggeringly: “Really? I am okay. Not really. Not exactly hey, I am okay, I am okay.”
Mr Knight is reportedly 46 years old (having been born in 1967), while Ayanda(born in 1994) is 19.
Mr Knight claimed to Ayanda that he has various business investments in the UK, a source who requested anonymity claims.
Ayanda’s Facebook account is facebook.com/ayanda.shekede .
At the time of writing, Mr Knight was still to phone back editors as the phone was abruptly cut.

Morgan Tsvangirai’s Exclusive Rigging-Dossier ‘Exposes’ 9 Army Generals

MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s dossier on alleged vote rigging during the just ended harmonised elections, lists a pile of (9) nine army generals, it has emerged.
The exclusive dossier Mr Tsvangirai at the weekend said, reveals how Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party used army structures to create a favourable election outcome for Mugabe and his party.tsvangirai412x232_CNN-----TT
The document includes by name: Retired Major V Rungani, listed as Coordinator, Brig General Sibangumuzi Khumalo, Retired Air Commodore M Karakadzi, Brig General S Moyo, Brig General D Sigauke, Brig General E Shungu, Major Gen. E Rugeje, Vice Marshall A Basutu, Col C Sibanda. Mr Tsvangirai says the generals among other things co-ordinated the stashing of fake ballot papers in Manicaland and other provinces.
Mr Tsvangirai’s full dossier is yet to be made public.
Meanwhile, ZANU PF has viciously dismissed the vote rigging allegations saying that they are unfounded.

ZANU PF’s response:
Below was a short response from ZANU PF-UK interim chairman, Nick Mangwana as he denied the report. The rebuttal was titled: “Response to MDC‐Elections Defeat” :

•We cannot continue to have this outfit holding the country at ransom affecting the country’s credit rating and investor confidence with redundant questions of legitimacy in a bid to appease their handlers.

Strive Masiyiwa Launches Econet Disease Surveillance Network (EDSN)

Econet Wireless founder Strive Masiyiwa has announced the launching of a revolutionary digital to platform to administer medical diagnoses hundreds of kilometres away from a clinic. Very soon it might just take a cellphone in one’s hand to obtain crucial medical checks.
The network once completed successfully will see poor people in rural areas access medical examinations via a simple phone connection.
Masiyiwa announced this platform calling it the Econet Disease Surveillance Network (EDSN).
Below was his press release:

The revolutionary EDSN demonstrated
The revolutionary EDSN demonstrated

One of the most exciting developments, we are currently working on, is a project we call the Econet Disease Surveillance Network. It is very similar to our award winning, Energize the Chain project. Both these projects were not designed to generate income, but to show that we can use our business, to help our communities.
Our research and development team, working with partners in America, have developed a test kit, which we can install at any rural clinic, or hospital. A blood sample, through a simple finger prick, is taken, and placed on a cartridge containing a strip of absorbent paper impregnated with antibodies. If the person has an infection, the paper changes colour. The paper is then photographed using a simple cell phone camera, supplied as part of the kit. The picture of the sample is beamed over our network, to a special computer, which processes it, and provides a diagnosis, which is sent back to the remote clinic, in a matter of seconds, by SMS. The computer also collates the data, to enable public health officials, to know the spread of diseases, in the country.
So, far we have the capacity to test for 5 diseases: malaria, HIV, dengue, influenza and hepatitis B. The test kit, not only enables thousands of people to be tested, and treated, but it also allows governments, to be able to monitor the movement real time of any of these diseases, enabling them to react quickly to major outbreaks.
We are currently testing this system, and it is our hope to eventually get such systems installed in every African country. Our team is led by Dr. Precious Lunga, a medical specialist, who joined our team to lead our health initiatives.
My vision however is that within 10 years, people will be testing themselves for diseases, using their cell phones…
Just add a little innovation, to what you do best.

UK:Pastor Gilbert Deya Arrested, Charged with Sexual Offences

(London)The Kenyan preacher (who is an ally to former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga) who claims to have super powers to create babies from mothers without necessary intercourse, Gilbert Deya, has been arrested for sexual offenses.
Mr Deya whose church claims to have more than 35,000 members and once set up a fast growing assembly at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, was arrested after investigations were opened that he allegedly inappropriately touched a 14 year old girl. Other charges before this one were three counts of rape and one count of attempted rape against another female church member.

Arrested...Gilbert Deya
Arrested…Gilbert Deya

He appeared at Camberwell magistrates court on Friday and will duly appear at the inner London crown court for a preliminary hearing on 8 November.
Deya’s wife is barred from the UK for more than 5 years running to date being confined to Kenya where she was convicted of smuggling children out of the African nation to take and hand to female church members in the UK with the intention of claiming the miracles. Several children were taken by social services after DNA tests proved they were not the kids of the church members and Mrs Deya was convicted in Kenya. Mr Deya himself was due to be deported back to Kenya back in 2007, when he managed to claim asylum and managed to stay in England.
The Deya church’s theology upholds the obsessive laying or sometimes pressing of the hands by the preacher to “transfer” healing powers to the person needing prayer. They are however often performed without the person’s consent and people are also forced into laborious processions which Deya claims will rid them of evil spirits. Another controversy is on the use of so called anointing oil which Deya instructs people to apply onto their bodies for protection from evil spirits.
An uneducated man with no papers of writ, he rarely preaches from the Bible and relies on what he says is the Holy Spirit leading him. At the height of investigations into his miracle baby claims in 2005, Deya began claiming that he had discovered new books which must be regarded as scripture and added to the Bible.

Army Stashed Fake Ballot Papers in Manicaland: Tsvangirai’s Vote Rigging Dossier

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripFormer Prime Minister and MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai has spoken further concerning his ‘exclusive’ vote rigging dossier of the just ended elections saying that ZANU PF utilised the army to both stash and control the voting process beginning chiefly with Manicaland.
Mr Tsvangirai said that ZEC chairperson Judge Rita Makarau cannot be blamed for many things such as printing of ballot papers and the distortions in the voters’ roll.
In a highly gripping oration, Tsvangirai spoke to his UK leaders on Saturday explaining why the MDC failed to win the just ended election which loss he also blames on the Chinese Communist party.
He said the blame for the printing of fake ballot papers could not be laid on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission but rather on the army and (CIO) Central Intelligence Organisation.
“Not even ZEC could control those ballot papers,” he said.
He added:
“There were three million extra ballot papers put in the system especially in Manicalanad, in Matebeleland and in Masvingo where the MDC has very substantial representation,” he said.

Even Makarau Did Not Have Voters’ Roll
On voter registration records, Tsvangirai added that the army was in control and “even Makarau did did not have access to the electronic voters’ roll. Even the voters roll itself right up to the end even the chairperson of ZEC did not have access to the electronic voters’ roll one day before the election; Even right up to the end.”
“The other area was the question of the youth militia. The Chinese Communist party trained 35,000 youth militia who were deployed in various military bases, I can give you the figures but in Inkomo there so many youths. In Bharabhara there were so many youths and this there were so many youths. What was the purpose of the youth militia was actually to mark extra ballots, to stuff them and to move those youths around the country.
“The other area was the question of traditional leaders. Traditional leaders were used to frog march people in their various villages. By saying this village is going to vote from time to that time, the next village is going to vote from this time to that time. And the role of traditional leaders was very effective on the ground to undermine the people.
“The other issue was the question of assisted voters. I know in Muzarabani there were 10,500 assisted voters in a voting population of 17,000. Even teachers and headmasters claimed ignorance about voting. When it comes to the question of the deployment of military leaders we now are aware that each province had a commanding officer and that at every voting station, every registration centre there was either a CIO, a ZANU PF activist and all. Now lets look to ZEC itself. ZEC was not an independent body.
“The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission did not control anything because everything was controlled by the military and by the CIO.
“Right (now) as I speak the ZEC does not know the total number of the people who voted. That was the basis of our electoral challenge. We withdrew it because they would not give us the full details of those people who voted and the outcome of the voted.”
The MDC leader added that this was clearly not an election but a mere act.
“This was not an election and anyone who will tell that this was an election is actually misrepresenting the truth. This was Mugabe and his military commanders that they were not going to give up power. Because they knew. They knew that on the ground if people were allowed to vote, the outcome was going to be an overwhelming victory for MDC,” said Mr. Tsvangirai.

Jonathan Moyo’s Repeal of Criminal Defamation: Opposition Opportunity

(ANALYSIS)Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Jonathan Moyo’s announcement that Zimbabwe’s Criminal Defamation statutes are now to be repealed so that the country falls well in line with the new constitution, is in actual fact an opportunity for the opposition as they prepare for the next elections in 2018.
Below was an analysis by political commentator Julius Mutyambizi:
“This paradigm shift is among some pragmatic steps that some are taking to re-brand themselves. ZANU PF is clearly changing and setting a different paradigm from which future political debate can be fought.jonathan_moyo
“It is wiser for the opposition to notice this ahead of the 2018 election. In future elections will not be fought on the platform of human rights abuses but it will be fought on a completely new turf. Formidable opposition positions itself as an alternative government, ready to govern, with an alternative into the posterity and not the past, the past is relevant only when it represents unfinished business but you cannot base your alternatives and narratives entirely on the past.
“Good planners will start now, notice what your competitors are doing, build on new competencies, discard old, obsolete narratives and reinvent new ones to reignite legitimate debate and stay relevant to the electorate in your own way through offering alternatives on the future that can entrench themselves in people’s minds and resonate with them until election time.”

Tsvangirai Says He Predicted Elections Would be Rigged

Shocking Obasanjo Claim By Tsvangirai in London
Former Prime Minister and MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai made a shock statement in London on Saturday when he contradicted himself announcing that on election eve this year(30 July), he was fully convinced the election would be an obvious scandal.
He said he confronted both Robert Mugabe and the African Union’s representative, Olusegun Obasanjo, and clearly told the 89 year old ruler beforehand that the elections would not be free and fair because of a flawed voters roll a few hours before going into election

tsvangirai_inCroydon2
Tsvangirai in Croydon, London on Saturday

Tsvangirai told a delegation of his UK leaders that a day before elections he knew very well that the voters roll was flawed with serious irregularities such that from day one he knew that the election was a sham.
Mr Tsvangirai said, “On the night before the election I went and saw Mugabe with Obassanjo. And I went with the voters’ roll of Mount Pleasant.
“I said ‘President, how do you go to an election with this voters’ roll? With over 254 names all born on the same day, how do you justify that? This is a voters’ roll that is being denied people how do you justify…
“So I am telling you whatever the outcome of this election is not going to be legitimate.’ Obasanjo was there, Mugabe was there and I told them. So I just want to say, ladies and gentlemen this was not an election. We went through some exercise of voting and before the election we stated that Mugabe was looking peaceful but rigged outcome. It was obvious.”
Tsvangirai’s statements however contradicted his own confident predictions on election day when he clearly said that he is confident of a resounding poll victory which would set him as Zimbabwe’s incoming President despite the flawed voters roll. Casting his own ballot paper at Mt Pleasant flanked by his wife, Tsvangirai indicated this was a historic moment for whole of Zimbabwe. When asked on his projections, he said his victory would be “quite resoundingly, I must say.”
“This is a very historic moment for all of us,” he added.

Several cadres coming out of the Croydon meeting said they were shocked to hear what Tsvangirai said. “If what the President said is true as it seems, then he possessed full knowledge or a perception of what was taking place, ” said one member from London Grays branch who refused to be named.

PICTURES: Khupe Attends Tsunga Celebrations

Morgan Tsvangirai’s right hand woman Thokozani Khupe on Saturday attended Arnold Tsunga’s Dangamvura parliamentary victory celebrations. Tsvangirai has been against Tsunga’s candidacy and had his own preferred person for the constituency, Giles Mutsekwa.
It was for this reason that Tsunga was facing disciplinary action for going into the election against Tsvangirai’s instructions. But today (Saturday) senior leaders from provinces were present at the function. These also included National executive members in Elton Mangoma, Clifford Hlatyayo, Abdenico Bhebhe and Amos Chibaya.
Tsunga a lawyer by profession said he decided to leave his legal profession for politics because he found it very difficult to bring justice to the people of Zimbabwe without changing the political system in Zimbabwe which was dominated by ZANU PF for over 3 decades. Fighting for the people from within the political system was the only option though still committed to be a human rights defender in the legal system, hinted Tsunga.
Other guests include Bishop Bakare of the Anglican church who gave the opening prayer. Pictures:

Germany and France Furious with US Govt Over Spying

INTERNATIONAL-stripThe German and French governments yesterday carried out emergency meetings and have begun preparing to send their intelligence officers to the US after several documents were said to have leaked to Europe revealing US surveillance operations and directed spying on German chancellor Angela Merkel.
Several German intelligence officials are now heading to the US to assess how far and how much spying the US have been carrying out.
The development came also as the French government announced it would take actions of protest against the US government over the leaks.
The leaks came about after former NSA officer Edward Snowden leaked a chunk of documents reportedly ‘revealing’ US government activities Snowden says are unethical and unacceptable.

ZimEye has been requested by the family of the Chadzimura’s to publish the photo of Mr Jairos Chadzimura who was killed in an inferno in Pomona, Harare on Sunday after police officers attending the scene left his body unattended overnight despite discovering it in good time for all procedures needed on Sunday afternoon.
Police officers attending the scene on Sunday were blasted after they allowed Mr Chadzimura’s body to stay unattended to overnight saying that investigations needed to be carried out. warning-jpg
“We told them and even complained to them, but they said they wanted to take photos and carry out investigations first,” said son, Mr Emmanuel Chadzimura.
Even when they stayed on through the night, the cops guarding the place stayed at a distanced several hundred metres away,” he added. The full names of the police officers in charge could not be obtained at time of writing.

Mr Jairos Chadzimura, a family man aged 71, died on Sunday afternoon in Pomona during the fire blaze which has engulfed the dumping site where he was both working and residing. He was killed while trying to recover his goods as his house went under the flames.
Donations for the burial via Ecocash can be forwarded to 0773579414  (00263773579414).

The Harare fire brigade struggled to put out the fire which needed several helicopters to handle but they had none. Eye witnesses say that the fire was started by people who were attempting to get rid of some rubbish at the site area which sits on a square kilometre designated for dumping by the city council. To date there have been no arrests by the Police despite investigations which commenced on Sunday.

Tsvangirai Defied Again as Mutare Councillors Strike Deal With ZANU-PF

Mutare’s four councillors led by the controversial new mayor Tatenda Nhambarare, on Monday once again came under the spotlight after they defied their party leader Morgan Tsvangirai uniting with ZANU PF in the setting up of local committees as they openly elected ZANU PF committee chairpersons for departments ahead of their own party cadres.
The MDC-T is now in the minority in the committees.
Council is run by committee chairpersons, the mayor, town clerk and heads of departments, and the councilors today met to elect the committee.tatenda_nhamarare
The committees are for the following departments: Finance, Housing, General Purposes, Audit committee, Procurement, Health, Environment.
The committee chairpersons together with the mayor and town clerk are collectively responsible for the day to day running of the city. MDC with its majority of 13 councillors against 9 of ZANU PF are supposed to land all the positions but 4 mdc councilors joined with ZANU PF to give the latter an advantage of 10 to 9.
The below is the preliminary table of positions as made available :
Finance  – Kenneth Kagoro ZANU PF
Audit      – George Jojo Zanu pf
General Purpose  – Mwanyara Jusa ZANU PF
Public works  – Richard Mupfura MDC rebel
Procurement  – Farai Bhiza MDC rebel
Environment Pamella Mutare MDC rebel
Housing Tandi Blessing MDC after spoiled votes

Last month the councilors shocked their party when they elected a deputy mayor from Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party.

Zimbabwe Threatened With Total Darkness as Hwange Colliery Struggles

Zimbabwe is threatened with imminent total darkness across the country as a result of the Hwange Colliery company’s workers downing tools in protest over unpaid salaries.
Information reaching ZimEye reveals that Hwange Colliery company has just closed down its main underground number 3 and open cast.
The situation has worsened after workers protesting over their unpaid salaries have been expelled from work through a memo issued on Friday the 18th October, leaving operations understaffed.
“The resultant effects of the shut are that once a stock pile at a power station is exhausted, the country will plunge into total darkness as these 3 units will stop functioning no need to mention the coke battery which require a temperature above 1 500 degrees,” a source told ZimEye on Saturday.
He continued,
Pleading poverty ... MPs claim they're poorly paid
“Yesterday temperatures were already 1 500. Workers are demanding their salaries from March to September, no single cent was paid in between.  Zesa may take down a unit or two to remain with one,” the source added.
ZESA’s failure to pay workers comes at a time when the company was struggling to meet the electricity demands of the country and the parastatal was last month ordered to scrap debts of all residents.

Chief Chiendambuya Attends MDC-T Rally in Makoni

Chief Chiendambuya in Manicaland Friday afternoon gladly attended an MDC-T rally held at the local business centre in Makoni North.
The respected chief took front roll seat while dressed in his red coloration uniform which threaded well with the official MDC colours.
The Manicaland chairman Julius Magarangoma addressed the rally today.
MDC-T senior official Elton Mangoma was also there to deliver a speech.
During the rally Magarangoma urged the MDC-T supporters to remain united and focus on 2018 elections.

He said “election period is over, it is no longer time to mourn about the stolen vote but get organised to win the next election.”
He has also castigated ZANU PF for always singing evils songs about the western countries when nearly all their leadership go for western goods, food , clothes and cars.
“Willowvale motor industries is almost broke due to viability challenges when the entire government is driving foreign manufactured cars,” said Magarangoma.
The chief paid tribute to Elton Mangoma for always being with the people of Makoni during trying times. He also thanked Mangoma for the Hospital mortuary he constructed in ward 5 at Weya Hospital which had been neglected since 1980.
Mangoma constructed a mortuary at Weya Hospital last year from his personal resources. The mortuary accommodates 15 bodies and serves Makoni North and Headlands districts.
In the past people used to travel long distances of up to 80 km with dead bodies to the nearest funeral poular in Rusape Elton Mangoma addressing
Speaking during his turn, Mangoma said ZANU PF rigged the elections using a number of methods such as assisting literate people to vote. He said “in one ward the MDC secretary who used to write our minutes was assisted to put an x. Some people were deleted from the voters roll,” he added.
He said his own son was told he was not in the voters roll, yet he was there, it took an alert sister behind to identify his name in the voters roll.
Mangoma challenged ZEC to produce the protocol register of polling proceedings if they did not rig the election.
He said “there were already glaring shortcomings of this government, massive power outages, closure of companies. The government is doomed with these people who have a decorated record of abusing public resources,” charged Mangoma.
He said the fact that there are no ZANU PF victory celebrations shows that they stole the vote.
He also indicated doubts if civil servants will manage to get their bonuses in November Zanu PF is illegitmate.

MDC-T Speaks on ‘$300 000 MDC Name Lawsuit

The MDC-T’s Spokesman Douglas Mwonzora has acknowledged a High Court case filed by a Mr. David Muzhuzha, against the party demanding $300,000 as payment for the use of the name “Movement for Democratic Change” he claims he personally crafted in 1999 when the party was formed.
Mr Mwonzora said the claimant is unlikely to win the case.
Muzhuzha claims that he was not duly rewarded for coining the name and the papers filed by his legal representatives Joseph Mandizha of Mandizha and Company, claims that he crafted the name while he was in the information department of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions then led by trade unionists, Gibson Sibanda and Morgan Tsvangirai. He cited MDC Party, Mr. Toendepi Shonhe and Mr. Douglas Mwonzora as respondents.mwonzora412x232
In an telephone interview from Harare on Thursday, Mr. Mwonzora dismissed the lawsuit as baseless. He singled out the late Learnmore Jongwe and Belgium based journalist and human Rights activist Grace Kwinjeh as the brains behind the MDC brand.
Asked whether Grace Kwinjeh was honoured in any form by his party for the role she played in naming the movement, Mr. Mwonzora said Kwinjeh never received any financial award, but a trophy was received on her behalf.
Kwinjeh acknowledges the recognition by the MDC-T party on its 12th anniversary celebrations held at Gwanzura Stadium in 2011.
Mr Mwonzora went on to reveal that the naming of the MDC was part of a three movement convention namely, National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), ZINASU and the ZCTU.
Mr Muzhuzha , the author of a book “A Travesty of Democracy”, published in 2010, has been a fiery critic of MDC leader and Founding President Morgan Tsvangirai. There are unconfirmed reports that he is also a beneficiary of controversial Zanu-PF land reforms, in which he acquired two farms.
“Our view is that this is part of the legal harassment of the MDC-T”, said Mr Mwonzora.

Shock as Sewage Flows Into Lake Kariba

Kariba: There were shockwaves sent through the community in the Kariba area yesterday when it emerged a sewage pipe has been broken down for several weeks and is flowing straight into the lake.
The leak is at Nyamasura where the pipe line crosses the main Kariba road.
It was reported that the town council have been aware of the leak for several days with nothing being done.

While a comment could not obtained from the council at the time of writing a community advocacy was launched with people complaining about the mishap.
“All people using Lake water east and west of the sewerage works, south of the power lines outside Nyamunga, are advised to be aware that the effluent pump that pumps effluent to the Nyamasura via a pipe line that crosses the main Kariba rd has broken down and has been for some time(trouble started over a month ago. Effluent is now going straight into the lake),wrote one Cavan Warren.
“Surely the least we could have expected from the relevant authorities was a public warning and some assurance on the health aspect of this distasteful discharge into the lake,” he said.
Lake Kariba is one of Zimbabwe’s top tourist destinations.

Madzore Dismisses Reports of “Receiving Cash From ZANU PF”

MDC-T Youth leader Solomon Madzore has dimissed reports that he or his wife received money from ZANU PF’s former Indigenisation Minsiter Savior Kasukuwere.
Madzore speaking to ZimEye on Wednesday morning described the reports as rubbish.”
He also said that claims that his brother Paul has received land under the land reform program are equally not true.

“It is rubbish. That is all I am going to tell you,” he said.
Madzore’s denials come after a report came in the state media that MDC officials have received farm lands from ZANU PF.

Jonathan Moyo Makes ‘Soft Landing’ For UK Journalist – Mduduzi Mathuthu

Zimbabwe’s Information and Media Minister Jonathan Moyo who last week launched an engagement tour of various media houses in Zimbabwe, has reportedly appointed the UK based journalist Mduduzi Mathuthu to head the government’s largest Bulawayo newspaper, The Chronicle.
As junior journalists from The Chronicle began openly referring to Mr Mathuthu as their incoming editor, Zimbabweans received news at the weekend that the once feared Prof Moyo is providing a soft landing to prominent journalists.

mathuthu------jonathan---moyo
Unity at last?….Jonathan Moyo with Mathuthu

While a comment from Mr Mathuthu was not forthcoming at the time of writing, his colleagues at NewZimbabwe.com professed ignorance on the exaggerated rumours splashing across the internet since Sunday.
Mathuthu is the founding editor of NewZimbabwe.com which is based in the United Kingdom.
However when contacted on Monday NewZimbabwe chief executive Jeff Madzingo, said he does not know of any appointments made to Mathuthu and the latter “has neither resigned from NewZimbabwe”. This rebuffed claims that Mathuthu was actually starting work at the Chronicle today Tuesday the 15th October as claimed by some which also turned out to be untrue.
Other rumours also flying across media houses claimed that NewZimbabwe.com had been bought by the government of Zimbabwe and was now part of the Zimpapers stable. It was further claimed that the chief executive together with the Deputy Editor Gilbert Nyambabvu had travelled to Zimbabwe where they were entertained at Meikles hotel and the handover performed there. However when contacted NewZimbabwe.com staff said Mr Nyambabvu did not travel to Zimbabwe at all and it was only Mr Madzingo who did so but it was a mere holiday visit and none of the things claimed ever transpired as they said. ZimEye can reliably confirm that Mr Nyambabvu did not travel to Zimbabwe as claimed.

Comment:
Whichever way the facts are, the reported appointment of Mr Mathuthu is believed to be a strategy to re-engage media personnel from various social persuasions rather than fighting them. In recent his weeks Jonathan Moyo who has returned into the front line of Zimbabwe politics has toured ZiFM, State Media offices and to the surprise of many The Daily News offices, a media house once bombed allegedly by state agents at a time when he was minister. Mathuthu himself was at the time a journalist for the same paper. Minister Moyo has been at the core of the ZANU PF government which has labelled private media houses as Western sponsored to destabilize Zimbabwe. However a recent survey has found that 60% of the online portals are independently funded by their private individuals who aspire to create and provide an alternative news platform to State controlled media.

Mutare Fails To Pay Workers 5 Months yet ‘Clerk Lives Large On $15,000 per month’

There was an outrage this past week in Mutare after it emerged the city council’s 2000 strong work force has gone for a record five(5) months without pay and there are no signs of them getting paid any time soon.
This is despite the fact that council collects nearly a million dollars in rates and other services every month, and senior management are paid regularly in full. Figures disclosed to ZimEye state that the town clerk is paid a whopping 15,000 per month of which he is reportedly paid in full to date.
Workers were last paid their normal salaries in March and a surprise pay in July only came courtesy of a local bank which had agreed to give the municipality a line of credit.
The workers are still unpaid for the months of April, May, June, August and September. They are also yet to receive their November 2012 bonuses
The Town Clerk Obert Muzawazi has never bothered to address workers on their plight, workers have charged. The new Mayor Tatenda Nhambarare has not been forthcoming on the same cause and had not responded to calls at the time of writing.

Payments of the workers’ premiums to funeral policies and medical aid have since been stopped.
Workers are now being evicted from their rented properties because they cannot pay.
Workers are complaining that while they are not paid their salaries all senior managers are paid on a regular basis. The managers also embark on a lot external trips to get huge allowances, complaints forwarded state. The least paid worker gets 200 dollars while the highest worker, the Town Clerk reportedly gets 15 000 dollars a month and get it regularly plus other handsome perks like four(4) company cars , a free house, free fuel, fees for his children and a holiday allowance once a year.

Infectious Hospital also failing.
The Mutare city council infectious hospital has also completely run out of food for patients, it has emerged.
The only things available at this clinic are water and drugs. The town clerk is in the salary grade 15 and is said to earn a whopping $15000 per month, while an ordinary nurse in grade 9, earns a paltry $900 per month.
In the picture: TB patients outside the hospital without food.

Auditing not done since 2008
The Mutare city council has also not been audited since 2008 and attempts to perform this task, resulted in the previous mayor, Brian James being expelled by Local Government & National Housing Minister Ignatius Chombo.

Meanwhile it was claimed that their workers committee is more loyal to the management and do not competently advocate for workers’ rights.

Purging of Critics: ZANU PF Scoffs At Tsvangirai’s MDC

Purging of Critics: ZANU PF Boasts It Is ‘Better Than MDC-T’
President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF has taken a swipe at Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party which has in recent days been suspending party cadres on allegations of undermining the authority of the leader, Tsvangirai.
Commenting on the suspension of former Marondera MP Ian Kay, and also that of Mbare youth leader Alex Nyamande, ZANU PF officials said the MDC-T is still very far from real democracy.
ZANU PF’s interim chairman for the UK, Nick Mangwana hinted that the MDC-T was a mockery to what they profess to be.
“This movement should start by embracing Democratic Change from within.  They are dictating everything including imposing mayors on the populace. They should stop pontificating as they have already shown how poor they are at exercising democracy,” Mangwana said.
“They purge all voices of dissent. Look at us ,Dzikamayi Mavhaire is in the Politiburo and a minister despite his history with uncanny utterances,” he added.
Meanwhile ZANU PF’s Deputy Director of Information, Psychology Maziwisa has said that Ian Kay’s suspension is “haunting” him.maziwisa

“The suspension of Ian Kay from the MDC-T continues to haunt me even to this very hour and that’s despite the fact that what goes on in that miserable party should have very little, if anything at all, to do with m,
“But Tsvangirai’s hypocrisy can’t be left unchallenged and so tonight I have a challenge for him. Please substantiate your claims that by questioning your leadership credentials, Mr Kay acted illegally or better still, in breach of your party constitution. If you cannot do that, you are honour-bound to immediately lift Mr Kay’s suspension.”
According to Maziwisa, Tsvangirai should actually apologise to Mr Kay.
“In fact I believe that Mr Kay deserves an apology, and If the MDC-T is a truly democratic party, it will do so at the earliest possible opportunity. My only fear of course is that, given Tsvangirai’s dictatorial tendencies, that might be too much to ask,” he said.

Outrage as Another MDC-T Official Suspended For Voicing Survey Results

nyamande Zimbabwe:MDC-T On Warpath as It Purges More Critics
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party was on Monday slammed by critics when it emerged it has suspended another official for merely voicing survey findings on the party’s reported waning support and the need for Tsvangirai to up his act.
Mr Alex Nyamande a youth leader in Mbare was suspended after he voiced during a provincial meeting survey findings that Morgan Tsvangirai had lost touch with the people. This was during a meeting attended two weeks ago in Harare.
His suspension announced by youth leader Solomon Madzore comes around the same time that the party also suspended former Marondera Central MP, Ian Kay, who has been calling for Morgan Tsvangirai to step down as party leader.
He told ZimEye, “they are actually quoting a statement I used in a provincial council where I said in reference to the events that transpired during the run up to the elections. I was actually referring to the fact that at the moment or at that time he was not reachable. And I said it in this way, at this time we used to see MT coming down to the ground when we have problems, even up to constituency level, but for the past so and so months, we could not reach him. It was just said he is busy, he is busy. And then I said he is doing what, he is doing nothing.”
Nyamande said that is the statement that landed him in hot soup.
He added that his statement was then twisted by other cadres to mean that Tsvangirai was spending time with women instead of doing his job.
When contacted, national youth leader Solomon Madzore’s phone went on ringing without being answered.
The suspension has been met with muted protests within the party.  More to follow…

EXCLUSIVE:Chamisa To Replace Tsvangirai In New ‘Russian Plot’ To Remove Mugabe

part1, part 1Is Russia’s President Vladimir Putin assisting Morgan Tsvangirai to remove Robert Mugabe in 2018? ZimEye can exclusively reveal that Morgan Tsvangirai is in a move to handover power in a classical Vladimir Putin-inspired strategy to defeat Robert Mugabe by appointing young populist Nelson Chamisa as his successor.
What then will happen to Tendai Biti now who was long promised he would be President on Tsvangirai’s departure?
Chamisa who is 35 at present, will be exactly 40 years old during the next elections in 2018 making him the best fit to challenge Robert Mugabe who will be a 94 year old nonagenarian at that time.
Why Chamisa is key to a takevoer from Tsvangirai? The strategy already openly discussed at other times during the Grace Kwinjeh-Simba Makoni fracas when it was initially named “Agenda 2016,” is to handover to Chamisa this year in preparation for the 2018 elections with the hope that the young darling after reviving the party will later play a Medevedev loyale in the year 2023. There are several reasons why Chamisa has risen to become a top favourite. He is highly educated, knows how to control his mouth, has relations to top army personnel, and is a cross party favourite, and a cross cultural darling of nearly every urban Zimbabwean to date.

10 Years for Tsvangirai as President of Zimbabwe
To date Chamisa has already revealed his own plan to retain Tsvangirai as MDC leader for a further two terms. He recently told ZimEye in an exclusive interview that Tsvangirai will without question be given a further 10 years to rule the MDC as President of Zimbabwe whenever that is possible. Through this Putin-Medvedev torpedo, the MDC party will be saved from a total fall away and be able to defeat ZANU PF, it is hoped. The leadership line-up allegedly involves Chamisa as President, Douglas Mwonzora as Secretary General, and Obert Gutu as spokesperson. Said Chamisa, “Once president Tsvangirai gets into government, we then start counting – But in government, not in the party.”
At this juncture, our reporter then asked “What if you never make it into government?,”
Chamisa replied: “But that’s an assumption. We cannot work on an assumption…”

Is he really a snake?
He is however rumoured to have risen to Tsvangirai’s bosom via treachery and top MDC cadres label him a snake which has spent time spying on other officers (including Tendai Biti) to Tsvangirai allegedly earning him the title: serpent.
“The snakes, cups, and the kitchens, have ravaged our party”, one top MDC cadre who is chairman for Manicaland, Julius Magaramombe voiced recently also referring to other officials who are in a tag team with Chamisa. When contacted by ZimEye on these allegations, Chamisa did not answer a word but deflected the whole discussion resorting to talk about how popular his party has become and how it is recruiting journalists for parliamentary posts.

Going for the horns of power...Nelson Chamisa
Reaching for the horns of power…Nelson Chamisa

A true Christian
But whichever way, Chamisa is an automatic successor to Tsvangirai because of this powerful ‘Putin-Medvedev’ relationship with the latter. In Russia, Dmitry Medvedev was President Vladimir Putin’s handpicked successor, who became President in 2008, only to handover power back to Putin at the end of his term.russian_plot-PNG
Chamisa as ‘a principled Christian’ will likely help to reinvent Tsvangirai’s battered public image due to the latter’s immoral escapades with various women which has been a major speculated reason for the MDC-T’s fall from grace as a party-whole. To date there is no record of Chamisa being weak on moral grounds and it is believed this will play well into the party’s favour. While being popular across several age groups, he is also popular with many in ZANU PF and carries a sting of favour with the majority of Christians whichever party they are. On his Facebook profile, Chamisa daily splatters Bible scriptures which are constantly followed by hundreds of amen responses.

“A Dreadful Mistake”
But top political analyst and University of Huddersfield Lecturer, Dr Nkululeko Sibanda has said placing Chamisa as head of the MDC-T may actually be a dreadful mistake and will rather cause greater divisions which will rope in Secretary General Tendai Biti who has for years been tipped to take over from Tsvangirai creating a silent faction under his own name.
“Tsvangirai will be naive to think that Chamisa will give back to him like Medvedev,” said Sibanda.
He added: “Chamisa is more ambitious than Medvedev. He is extremely ambitious he will build his own empire and whether or not he will have a lot of respect I don’t know but putting Chamisa and Mwonzora is fanatically stupid. Mwonzora can’t be a leader he needs to be led. Mwonzora makes no sense,” said Sibanda.
He also added:
“It is weakening the party more than in one way. What they needed to do was to find somebody who is external to the factions that are within the MDC now and try to build that person into the party which was going to be difficult, but to strengthen one faction over the other is just to weaken the party even further.”

Thokozani Khupe Named In Disgraceful Scramble

Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party was yesterday caught between the teeth when it demonstrated discrimination allowing jobless guru’s also known as cash cows, to bulldoze their way for the remunerated posts of House of Assembly Chief Whip, and Women’s Caucas positions.
The shameful scramble involves former cabinet ministers now jobless who include ex-Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe. The lucrative posts will  raise the successful members to levels where government pays them lump sum amounts for special parliamentary work. Parliament has been dragged further as the MDC-T struggles to provide final names due to the infighting.
In an emergency meeting yesterday, the party brought forward a list of several women (including Thokozani Khupe) who are challenging for the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus Vice Chair position presently held by Crecencia Chabuka from Manicaland. This is the only post they have chosen to hold by-elections for. The other two are for the parliamentary Chief Whip positions they however chose not to hold any by-elections deciding rather to retain the previous office holders.

Flying to Europe and earning numerous allowances
The people who have entered the fray for the women’s caucus position include Thokozani Khupe,  Sibusiso Masara, and Pauline Mpariwa.
The position involves flying to western destinations such as Europe and earning numerous allowances from the government.

“Tribal War Against Manicaland”
The decision to hold by-elections to replace Chabuka is believed to be of an evasive motivation against the party’s Manicaland province where several cadres are from who are calling for Morgan Tsvangirai to step down. Others from the same have also gone against Tsvangirai’s imposition of candidates. These include the Treasurer General Roy Bennett, James Magarangoma(on canditate imposition), and Arnold Tsunga (on candidate imposition).
The positions which the party has chosen not to contest for Chief Whip of House Of Assembly are held by Innocent Gonese who is deputised by Dorcas Sibanda.
The MDC-T to this day has not communicated a reason for the change, and when approached there was not a single written position statement on the matter.
An official comment form the MDC-T’s spokesman Douglas Mwonzora was not forthcoming at the time of writing as he was said to be in a meeting.

Chombo Feud: Tsvangirai Mayor Celebrates Mugabe’s Presidency

We will work with the expelled MDC-T Mayors, vows Chombo
There was consternation in the city of Mutare last week Thursday when the Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC elected mayor of Mutare, Tatenda Nhamarare who has since been expelled from the party, openly celebrated Robert Mugabe’s presidency.
In what is interpreted as an open display of defiance against Tsvangirai, Nhamarare who Local Government Minister Ignatius Chombo has vowed to continue recognising as mayor, issued a printed press statement (pictured) both celebrating and congratulating Robert Mugabe for his announced victory in the just ended national elections.
Nhamarare had never been fielded by the party for the mayoral position and only crept in after the councilors had completed their secret ballot. tatenda_nhamarare
In the elections Robert Mugabe was announced as winner with 61,09 percent of the presidential votes cast, while Mr Tsvangirai managed only 33,94 percent. Zanu-PF took over 197 seats in the National Assembly, while MDC-T managed only 70, MDC two, with one independent completing the list. Apart from these results, remained those of local government where the MDC-T managed to take over several other towns and cities Mutare and Harare included but there have since been reports of alleged ZANU PF vote buying for mayoral positions in which Mutare was noted for among others even electing a ZANU PF deputy mayor when the majority of councilors were MDC-T.

In his celebratory message, Nhamarare said he was proud to be associated with President Mugabe and Vice President Joice Mujuru’s political leadership.
“The mayor, Councillor T Nhamarare, councillors, council officials and the citizens of the city, would like to express our warm and heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, the President of the sovereign Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde R.G Mugabe and indeed the Honourable Vice President Cde Joice Teurai Ropa Mujuru for resoundingly winning the harmonised elections conducted on 31 July 2013,” his statement said.
It added: “The citizens of Mutare take great pride to be associated with such outstanding, God-given and principled political leadership with unparalleled contributions to both our struggle for our liberation and focus on nation-building, unity, empowerment for social and economic development.
“We sincerely wish them every success in the quest to indigenise, empower and improve the status of all Zimbabweans as a nation.”
Meanwhile, the MDC-T remained quiet on the matter and its spokesman Douglas Mwonzora did not respond to inquiries. But the party’s spokesman for Manicaland, Pishai Muchauraya however protested that Nhamarare’s is not even fit to qualify for mayor since he is not yet 40 years of age as stipulated in the new constitution.

Most MDC officials did not attend. Observers however included Job Sikhala, and leaders from PTUZ, ISO, PYD, ZCTU organisations.

NCA Congress: Madhuku Forms New Party To Challenge Tsvangirai, Mugabe

The National Constitutional Assembly today converges in Harare for its congress which comes soon after the passing of the new constitution and the just ended harmonised elections.
ZimEye is reliably informed that on the cards is a the forming of a new party to challenge Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party which lost the recently announced election results.
The NCA is expected to morph into a new party today, a colleague of Madhuku told ZimEye last week.

New party? Professor Lovemore Maduku
New party? Professor Lovemore Maduku

Professor Madhuku is als speculated to be the leader of the new party.
MDC-99 leader Job Sikhala is said to be an invited speaker at the function which will be held at Bumbiro House in the capital.
Announced Sikhala on Friday afternoon: “Tomorrow l will give 30 minutes of my time from 1100hrs to 1130hrs away from my sick father to give my solidarity speech at the NCA congress at Bumbiro House. It’s unfortunate that l will only be able to spare that 30 minutes alone and we wish the NCA a successful congress and hope that everything will pass without problems as we gathered that rivalries are plotting to disrupt the congress. Our culture of hatred to political pluralism is so sickening that it’s not long before people engage in a civil war. “

Botswana Stopped 2008 Civil War in Zimbabwe, Study Claims

President Ian Khama’s government of Botswana successfully worked on and managed to stop civil war in Zimbabwe after the 2008 election, a scientific study argues.
The paper titled “Botswana and Pivotal Deterrance in the Zimbabwe 2008 Political Crisis,” argues that had it not been for Botswana’s deliberate actions, Zimbabwe would have plunged into civil war following the 2008-9 era.
The paper was researched and written by scholars at the University of Botswana: Obonye Jonas, David Mandiyanike, and Zibani Maundeni.botswana-flag
This article seeks to explain the pivotal role that Botswana played in the light of the Zimbabwe political crisis after the 2008 election. It argues that Botswana was able to apply pivotal deterrence in Zimbabwe between the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) that claimed to have won the March 2008 presidential election and the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU PF) that claimed to have won the June 2008 presidential re-run election in which Robert Mugabe stood alone. This article deploys the theory of ‘pivotal deterrence’ to investigate the influence that Botswana had over the MDC and ZANU PF.
The enduring amity of Southern Africa was nearly disrupted in 2008, when Zimbabwe nearly slid in a civil war following the disputed elections which returned Robert Mugabe to power after his arch-rival Morgan Tsvangirai withdrew from the presidential race citing escalating state-sponsored violence. EXCLUSIVE: Chiyangwa School Headmaster Speaks On Unpaid Teachers Salaries

The headmaster of the school built and reportedly ‘owned’ by flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa has spoken for the first time and in an attempt to dismiss reports by the faceless social-network cult guru Baba Jukwa that teachers have not been paid for five months to date.
The headmaster may have demonstrated that Baba Jukwa last week played the crucial role of forcing the school to pay the teachers.

tapera
Denial…Christopher Tapera

The school head Mr Christopher Tapera told ZimEye in an exclusive interview the reports of his school delaying the salaries of teachers for five months are not true. Although he invited our reporter to the school offices to see documentation, he admitted that there have indeed been delays in paying teachers’ salaries but said that these were for the month of August which have only been paid today as per his words. The timing of the payment may show that Baba Jukwa’s pressure on the matter forced Chiyangwa’s management to release the needed funds.
“Going by what was written in the ZimEye Saturday, Sunday it is incorrect. Teachers were paid up to end of July and as I speak to you right now we have already paid them their August salaries. So we don’t owe teachers at all it is unfortunate that when this article was published we were not accorded an opportunity to air our side of the story,” he said.
On the matter of overcharging parents, Mr Tapera said that his school’s fees are slightly over USD1300, and so are actually lower than many other schools which charge at least USD2800 per term.
He further dismissed reports of Mr Phillip Chiyangwa being in control of the school saying that the school is managed by a directors’ or trustees’ board. When asked further about the board membership, he however admitted that the board is actually headed by a certain Mr Edmund Chiyangwa, and the board of trustees has two Chiyangwa’s at the helm.
Watch this space for the full interview which will be published by Midnight Tuesday.

UK Govt Approves Zanu PF To Operate Locally In Britain

ZANU PF now a British party? Just about exactly!
(London)President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party has been given the all clear to begin operating in Britain, ZimEye can exclusively reveal.
This development follows an expose’ by this publication on ZANU PF’s operations in the UK in recent months as they prepare to meet Prime Minister David Cameron.
The move is a revival of the historic relationship Mugabe’s party enjoyed with The Iron lady, former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the 80s.simmonds_zanuPFcleared
ZimEye can further reveal that ZANU PF will now be recognised just like any other local British party and may soon open a bank account among other things.
” There would be no bar on your activities here in the UK, providing they do not contravene UK law, as is the case for any political party,” Foreign and Commonwealth Office, MP Mark Simmonds said in a statement.
A meeting is now to be held with ZANU PF’s chairman Nick Mangwana in the next few days where the latter is expected to air ZANU PF’s concerns.
Commenting on the development top Huddersfield University Lecturer Dr Nkululeko Sibanda said the development speaks a lot about ZANU PF than it does the opposition MDC.
“I think the indication is that this says more about MDC than it says about ZANU PF, ” said Sibanda. He added, “it is an indication that the MDC is losing ground considerably. Because once it was difficult for ZANU PF to operate in the UK, you would then say that ZANU PF is gaining considerable ground launching a massive international offensive.”
But Sibanda also voiced that the British government has not been consistent in their international policy of condemning ZANU PF while at the same time cooperating with the party. “At the same time it is an indication that the British are not consistent as they are literally now opposing themselves. ZANU PF operatives are going to be free to operate in here and spy on people. I think its a step backwards,” he said.
But political analyst George Shire said there have never been any intelligence operatives in the UK.
“There never were ZANU PF operatives,” said Shire. He added:
“ZANU PF hasn’t got enough money to pay anyone to be an operative you know. For ZANU PF to be interested about someone in Britian, they must be doing something of use and people are not. Its an illusion for people to think they are bigger than ZANU PF.”
Shire said the development has no significance at all as ZANU PF has never been banned in the UK and so the real matter at hand is the issue of sanctions which must be removed.
“The issue with the British government should be whether or not the sanctions are in place. By virtue of them being in place, it means that we cannot operate freely. Its not that we are not ready to put those structures in place, the sanctions should go first,” he said.

Storm Brews Over JOMIC 4×4 Cars

A storm is brewing between JOMIC officials and government following a directive from Dydmus Mutasa ordering all JOMIC officials to return the 4×4 vehicles given to them by government for purposes of executing their duties during the life of the Government of National Unity.
JOMIC liason officers from the three political parties in Manicaland have vowed to keep on to their vehicles despite calls by the chief secretary of the President and cabinet for the immediate withdrawals of the vehicles by the 20th of September.
Last week a press statement was issued calling for the withdrawal of the vehicles. The vehicles are to be surrendered to the nearest CMED Deport. Jomic has 7 vehicles in each province and each party has two.
In his memo to JOMIC vehicle users, the chief secretary to the President and cabinet said the role of JOMIC ended with the demise of GNU. However, a survey in Manicaland has indicated that all individuals using the vehicles are still holding on to them arguing that they should be given the cars as exit packages. Those interviewed said the government was being very unfair and insensitive to them by withdrawing the vehicles when they allowed government ministers to go with their vehicles.

At bitter war... 4x4 Vehicle
At bitter war… 4×4 Vehicle

They are arguing that most senior civil servants and head of government departments normally are given the option of buying the vehicle on book value at the end of the contract. All the ministers in the just ended inclusive goverment were given the option of buying their vehicles at book value.

A visit to the CMED Provincial headquarters this afternoon has shown no sign of any vehicle that has been surrendered.
One of JOMIC Provincial cordinators who declined to be named told ZimEye that the National cordinator Patience Chiradza has told through a MEMO all JOMIC officers to hold on to their vehicles until they get a communication from the National Co_Chairpersons: Elton Mangoma, MDC T Nicholas Goche Zanu pf and Priscillah Musihairambwi MDC N.

Tsvangirai Gobbles 400 Litres Fuel As He Retrenches Workers

Former PM Morgan Tsvangirai has assumed a full time job at Harvest House but now gobbles up 400 litres of petrol at a time when he is retrenching workers, giving them a paltry 2 months salary package.

Now useless?... Morgan Tsvangirai
Now useless?… Morgan Tsvangirai

It has emerged the party is bankrupt to the bone and this is the reason why Treasurer General Roy Bennett has been calling for Tsvangirai’s immediate resignation.
Tsvangirai now starts work at 9am and knocks off at 5pm Monday to Friday. He uses three vehicles which consume an average of 400 litres of fuel a week. The standing committee sits every Wednesday and each of those 12 members need allowances for food and transport.
Harvest house has embarked on a massive retrenchment plan called Soft Landing. Each department is going to remain with three staffers. The retrenchments will also cascade to provinces. There will be one admin worker in the province, one driver and one security guard. Press officers in the provinces have been given notice to look for alternative employment. As exit packages those affected would be given two months salaries. The MDC-T wage bill is currently standing at $94 000 a month and mainly funded by the Political Parties Finance Act funds but will now be lower than before since their numbers in parliament have gone down.
It is also because of the donor fatigue that the party summoned all workers to Harvest house on Tuesday to warn them of the retrenchment plan code named Soft Landing. The Organising Department which used to have over 20 workers will now have only 3 workers just like any other department. Information which has Robert Mandeya, Lawrence Paganga, Yvone Mashie, one only known as Abigail, and the office assistant will also have to to remain with three. The choice of who remains lies with the Director General Mr Toendepi Shonhe.
There were unconfirmed rumours that Tsvangirai’s personal advisor Alex Magaisa has since relocated to the UK following the election defeat but Magaisa appeared to dismiss them.
It is believed that a big percentage of the money which will be received from government will go towards some allowances of the big people in the party who are now jobless after the GNU. The Party Treasurer general Roy Bennett told his colleagues at Harvest house that the party is broke and cannot continue looking for money without proper accounting and there is a disturbing fatigue in the donor community to fund the party.

EU In Shocking U-turn, Scraps Sanctions On Zimbabwe Diamond Company – Report

The European Union has performed a U turn on Zimbabwe by lifting sanctions on the Zimbabwe Diamond Company, a report states.
Although an independently verifiable person could not be reached on Tuesday, Europe based reports stated that a yet unamed EU official has said the body is now lifting sanctions on Zimbabwe.
The report quoted the unnamed official saying the EU has “begun the process of delisting” Zimbabwean persons from the Mugabe-targeted sanctions which were meant to influence democratic reforms. This came at a time when the country’s recent elections were slammed by the same body. It is thus believed that the EU has contradicted itself since two months before elections it had stated that sanctions would be reviewed upon credible elections being held in the country.
Huddersfield top lecturer and political commentator, Nkululeko Sibanda has said that there appears to be desperation on the EU’s position to lift sanctions.
“As  a matter of fact the EU is impatient to lift the sanctions on Zimbabwe necessarily because the main parties are arguing ….that the sanctions are no longer necessary or effective in achieving democracy in the country. And therefore it would seem to me though that they are looking for an excuse. Which raises an excuse to remove them. It raises the question as to whether or not all along they saw them as an effective tool for promoting democracy at all, rather than just a political gimmick on their side.  It certainly raises eyebrows as to why a mere referendum would be seen as important in determining democracy in Zimbabwe…,” he told ZimEye earlier in the year.

Bennett Furious As MDC-T Calls For Tsvangirai’s Resignation Intensify

(ANALYSIS)He once bludgeoned Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa in parliament right before onlookers, and his party know him to be a frank no nonsense person – MDC-T Treasurer General Roy Bennett has this week fearlessly turned his ‘body’ on his boss Morgan Tsvangirai saying he must immediately resign and handover to others.
Bennett told reporters Tsvangirai has had his time, fought well, and stood on, but must now resign to save the party from total collapse.
His comments come as top Tsvangirai confidante Nelson Chamisa revealed that party heavyweights actually want Tsvangirai to continue ruling for another 20 continuous years. He told ZimEye soon after our reporters queried with Chamisa on the MDC-T’s announced plans to retain Tsvangirai until he is an octogenarian (80 years old and above), “that question you raised with Chamisa is crucial and important because I was there when they changed the constitution,” he said of the time when MDC-T bosses secretly signed a deal to lengthen Tsvangirai’s presidency without informing the rest of the party.
In another interview this week with a South African publication BDLive, Bennett further burst out dismissing Tsvangirai’s leadership relevance after the July 2013 elections.
“Mr Tsvangirai has served two terms and is nearly completing a third,” Mr Bennett said. “Deep introspection needs to be undertaken by our national collective leadership, not for purposes of looking for scapegoats, but for our party to reinvigorate its leadership with a leadership which reflects the will of our people,” said Bennett.
He even suggested that the only reason why Tsvangirai is hanging on is because of a small ruling elite in the central committee whose positions will be affected by a leadership change. “Regrettably some within our leadership, as in the case with many political parties, do not wish the grassroots democratic will of the people to prevail,” he said.
Bennett’s calls were this week part of a hot topic on leadership succession which trended with thousands flooding on social websites but which was dominated with talk on Tsvangirai’s future as leader of the MDC-T party as many began saying the former trade unionist should pass the baton. Meanwhile some top MDC-T cadres who spoke on condition of anonymity voiced that an attempt by Tsvangirai and close allies to stay on will only give more power for ZANU PF to continue ruling as this automatically demotivates the democracy spirit which the party claims to subscribe to.

Alex Magaisa Not Quitting, Rubbishes Journo

Outgoing Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s personal advisor, Dr Alex Magaisa has laid into a pseudo-journalist who wrote a story claiming that he has given up his job as Tsvangirai’s advisor.
In a strongly worded message, Magaisa offloaded his disgust at the ‘idiot’ journo’s behaviour which he described as base ‘gutter.’
Magaisa who is on holiday in the UK, was shocked to read his name in the story published in a website which claimed to even quote him stating he had quit his job for the sake of his family.
Below was his short statement he issued from his social networking portal:

Dr Alex Magaisa
Dr Alex Magaisa

Normally, I would not comment on items from the gutter press. But I am aware friends, colleagues, relations and supporters of the party who might otherwise believe every word they read on the internet may be in need of clarification. In doing so, one runs the risk of dignifying creations of hands and minds that belong to the gutter; imaginary stories in which a pseudo-journalist (because that individual cannot properly lay claim to the title of being a journalist) makes no attempt whatsoever to get a comment from the subject of his/her story. But on this occasion, I must do so nevertheless.
The story that you may have come across in recent days, apparently alleging that I have quit my advisory role, is completely false and without foundation. No one has spoken to me and how they come up with such nonsense is beyond me. Unfortunately, in the age of “copy and paste” journalism, I observe that even websites that might otherwise claim some iota of credibility have joined the race to the bottom to publish nonsense without verifying.
Friends, you will probably see more of this nonsense as time goes by. Normally, I would not comment on items from the gutter press. But I am aware friends, colleagues, relations and supporters of the party who might otherwise believe every word they read on the internet may be in need of clarification. In doing so, one runs the risk of dignifying creations of hands and minds that belong to the gutter; imaginary stories in which a pseudo-journalist (because that individual cannot properly claim to the tile of being a journalist) makes no attempt whatsoever to get a comment from the subject of his/her story. But I must do so nevertheless. The story that you may have come across in recent days, apparently alleging that I have quit my advisory role, is completely false and without foundation. No one has spoken to me and how they come up with such nonsense is beyond me.
Unfortunately, in the age of “copy and paste” journalism, I observe that even websites that might claim some iota of credibility have joined the race to the bottom and publish nonsense without verifying. You will probably see more of this nonsense as time goes by, all in the name of propaganda. If it persists, one may have to consider legal options.
All I can advise is be a critical reader; you will save yourself from swallowing the garbage served in the name of journalism. If some idiot wakes up one bad morning and announces to the world that Magaisa is now a woman, I am not going to run around naked to prove that I am still a man.

Hyena Attack Latest: 10 yr Old Girl Still In Critical Condition

The 10 YEAR OLD GIRL from Buhera South, Noria Musapukira, who was on Tuesday attacked by a stray hyena, is in a critical condition, ZimEye has been exclusively told.
The local MP HON Joseph Chinotimba revealed this as he told ZimEye he has managed to secure the funds for the victims from the powerful Mbada Diamonds company.
Earlier reports had suggested that Noria had merely lost her right eye following the attack.
But MP Chinotimba while on his way from Parirenyatwa told ZimEye on Thursday afternoon, Noria is in a critical condition at present having suffered several other wounds. When asked when Noria could be leaving the hospital Chinotimba replied:

Hyena attacks on humans

“I wouldn’t say anything about her because I am not a doctor, ma doctor ndivo vanoziva kuti achabuda rinhi. What I know is she is in a  critical position. But I can not rule when pa achabuda; I wouldn’t tell you anything about that.”
Chinotimba revealed more details on Noria’s condition:
“Ari pa critical condition because anga arumwa musoro ka. Ndobva abviswa rimwe ziso. I cannot rule when she is going out.”
Chinotimba also revealed that he managed to secure funding from the Mbada Diamond company to cover all the bills  for 5 of the villagers attacked by the animal yesterday.
Chinotimba said he has since appealed to the National Parks and Wildlife government department to extend its coverage to Buhera since the area’s villagers are under attack from wild animals including lions.
The new MP of Buhera South also said the reason why ferrocious animals are straying into human habitations is because there is no more animal prey in the area.
“Hakuchina mhuka ku Buhera,” said Chinotimba.
At 5PM on Tuesday the hyena attacked the Grade 5 pupil at Muchuwa Primary School in Chief Nyashanu area. The state broadcaster, ZBC reported that the injured girl’s mother, Mrs Musapukira said Noria and her elder sister were coming from the market around 5.30pm on Tuesday when they saw something which they suspected to be a baboon but they soon noticed that it was a dangerous animal when it made a laughing sound and started charging at them. She is said to have fallen while trying to runaway from the hyena, which then pounced on her. Other villagers and passersby ran to her rescue but the damage had already been done.
The same hyena also attacked four other people.

FULL TEXT: Kenyan ‘Prophecy’ Explanation on Zimbabwe’s Future Interview

Below is the full text of interview of Kenyan Prophet-Maxillar Mumo with ZimEye following a second prophecy concerning elections in Zimbabwe and what the prophet says will be MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s sudden ascendancy to become President of Zimbabwe.
ZimEye put the prophet to task to clarify and explain further his utterances for easy understanding for the readers at large to which the prophet agreed.

INTERVIEW:
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
I have been waiting for you. Send your questions right here! They should only be 5 questions. I only have time for 5 questions.
Question:

Fake? Prophet Maximiler
Fake? Prophet Maximiler

1. Man of God, some Zimbabweans have criticised you and dismissed your prophecies. Could you cite two or three other prophecies you have made in the past which have come to pass? Thank you
Question:
Please feel free if you are not comfortable on this one.
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
QUESTION 1 ANSWER: The blog that every prophesy I make is posted can answer your question on what prophesies have come to pass. They are many I have lost count. Infact what I know is God can make a news bulletin better than most media houses when it comes to speaking concerning the future. I have seen God show me of what shall be in the news the next day internationally, posted it and seen it together with anyone who cared out there as they came to pass.
http://www.prophetmaxillarmumo.blogspot.com/.
When God speaks just like in the bible in the old times, you will have people ignoring what God is saying or dismissing it. But what they forget is to look up and see God while focussing on the man; me and putting me on the cross only for what is imminent!
I do not carry my own voice, and since I began prophesying, I have spoken only of what God sends me to. He worries about the coming to pass of such prophesies. He worries of what to do with such people as those who nullity, mock and disregard His voice.
You see prophesy is only a Word first when it is send out. It’s power when it comes to pass holding those who accepted it safe and holding those who disregarded it to destruction.
While many think prophesy is so you can become famous, count or have a record of what comes to pass and not and brag with it; GOD CONSIDERS ME CALLED ONLY TO SPEAK HIS VOICE. THE REST I LIVE TO THOSE WHO HAVE GOT NOTHING TO DO. ALL MY TIME IS SPEND IN PRAYER.

Question:
Thank you sir. 2. In the first part of your prophecy for Zimbabwe and reference is made to the one released on or around the end of July 2013, you stated that Morgan Tsvangirai is anointed to lead Zimbabwe. Do you have projected date when this should happen?
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
ANSWER TO QUESTION 2: God calls and anoints leaders. Only Him knows the reason why He chooses a certain leader and dismisses another. I have seen God appoint leaders many a times before and they all end up ruling.
Now there are many things that come to play when God appoints a leader. First of all the nation must accept the leader appointed for them. Of course if they refuse such a leader, trouble befalls them. And it’s always trouble that is designed to pave way for the leader appointed of God to rule.
Secondly, when the accepts such a leader, then when the time comes or according to their procedures they must appoint such a leader to office. In the event they refuse to do so. God will still work and bring the ordained leader into power.
When I spoke of Tsvangrai, I said God is concerned whether the people of Zimbabwe will work to put the leader into power when the time comes and it is written in record that I did say that. Now I said this because what God was showing is that in the time He gave which was a 5 and 5 events, there was a threat to this leader’s life which still stands and so many people want to see him gone. But the biggest problem I have seen that brought the second prophesy was the people around him.
They were all plotting to put him in power through another kind of act and not that of God. And that set God releasing a warning of these people around him that were plotting of such a move that if they did it, then it will be the end of him ever finding the leadership of the country.
I WANT PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND, IT WAS NOT TSVANGRAI PERFORMING THIS ACT BUT I SAW PEOPLE PERFORMING IT FOR HIM SO THAT HE ASCENDS TO POWER. BUT GOD SAID, IF THEY DID IT, THEN IT WAS THE END OF HIS ASCENSION TO LEADERSHIP OF YOUR COUNTRY.
Question:
Thank you sir. 3. Will the Tsvangirai power takeover be peaceful, and will there be peace after that?

Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
CONTINUED ANSWER TO QSN 2: There are things I am allowed to speak of and others I am allowed to hold to myself. In terms of the exact time; I CANNOT OPEN MY MOUTH BEYOND THE 5 but be sure it is nothing as people are trying to DECODE it! THE SECRET IS WHAT IS THE WEAPON OF BRINGING THIS PROPHESY TO COME TO PASS! THE DEVIL CANNOT KNOW WHAT THE TIME MEANS, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE TIME MEANS EXCEPT GOD! THAT IS HIS WEAPON!
BUT WHAT I WILL TELL YOU IS WHEN IT HAPPENS, IT WILL BE PLAIN TO YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE WHAT THE 5 MEANT!!!
Question:
Thank you sir. 3. Will the Tsvangirai power takeover be peaceful, and will there be peace after that?
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
ANSWER TO QSN 3: If these people accept to listen to God and do not perform this SACRIFICE so that their leader can take power through evil ways because God has chosen him for Zimbabwe already, then you will see with your eyes Tsvangrai take power and rule Zimbabwe and because He is chosen of God the rulership shall be peaceful!
If they go on and do the sacrifice, it is over for them and their leader. They will never lead Zimbabwe BECAUSE WHAT GOD TOLD ME IS HOW CAN PEOLE DISPISE HIS WORD AND CHOICE FOR THEM AND DECIDE TO PERFORM ON BEHALF OF THE ONE I HAVE CHOSEN SUCH A THING. GOD IS ENEMY OF IDOLS AND IDOL WORSHIP! SO these people should let God take care of how Tsvangrai comes to power.
I WANT TO ADD HERE TODAY EXCLUSIVELY TO YOU EVEN BEFORE IT IS POSTED ON MY BLOG: That if these people perform the sacrifice; GOD TOLD ME; HE SHALL RAISE A LEADER FROM ZIMBABWE FROM THE CHURCH. HE WAS ONCE A PAGAN BUT SHALL BE SEEN AS TO COME FROM THE CHURCH WHEN HE RISES AND SHALL BE A GREAT HELP TO THE CHURCH!
Question:
Thank you Sir for clarifying who the persons are who you refer to as plotting to do child sacrifice.
5. Do you have any other prophecies on Zimbabwe which have not been made known to date?
Prophet-Maxillar Mumo
Only what is on my blog. That is all. I have ministered to many people from Zimbabwe and God has performed for them greatly and mightly from miracle children, lost people being found, healings, winning business deals, finding spouses, receiving financial breakthrough to anything you can think of.
What God has done for me is RAISE me differently in these last days to decry the church which instead of being His voice to nations has become mediocrity because it is considered a place of the lost.
WHAT GOD IS DOING IN YOUR NATIONS AND MANY OTHER NATIONS is to RESTORE HIS CHURCH, HIS VOICE and to make people TURN TO HIM!!!
I DO NOT SEEK FAME, I DO NOT SEEK ATTENTION!!! GOD SEEKS TO RESTORE HIS CHURCH!!!
I have done my best to bring you message of God as He gives it to me!
I have spoken with you in utter justice of God’s Word and I hope everything God has told you elevates your thinking and does not make you blind to your own destiny!
I do not carry my voice that is why I am able to speak and nations can listen. It is because I carry God’s voice. I am not interested in the when they happen all I know is everything I have spoken in the past has come to pass and I cannot take credit of any! Only God can! I am not worried if what I say comes to pass or not; because I know God worries about that.
In whatever happens, I represent my God with utmost and ultimate OBEDIENCE! I cannot think less of Him any day of my life! I WILL STAND WITH HIS WORD FOREVER!
Thank you and regards!
Question:
Thank you very much for your time prophet Mumo. We look forward to hearing more of your works soon. Regards.

EXCLUSIVE:Kenyan Prophet Mumo Reveals More On ‘President’ Tsvangirai Govt Takeover

The Kenyan Prophet Maxillar Mumo whose utterances have in recent weeks sparked intense controversy in the Zimbabwean community has spoken following his prediction in which he says that some Zimbabweans(not Tsvangirai) were thinking of attempting a child sacrifice in order to create the presidency for Morgan Tsvangirai.
Prophet Mumo insisted to ZimEye in an exclusive interview on Wednesday night, that Morgan Tsvangirai is God’s anointed President of Zimbabwe who will be installed soon after Robert Mugabe has died a natural death. Tsvangirai’s ascension to the State House will be effortless for him, hinted Mumo.
On the mystical matter of the so called “child sacrifice”, Mumo said in part:
“They were all plotting to put him in power through another kind of act and not that of God. And that set God releasing a warning of these people around him that were plotting of such a move that if they did it, then it will be the end of him ever finding the leadership of the country.”
When however pressed on the authenticity of his prophecies and why people should rely on them Mumo replied: “I have spoken with you in utter justice of God’s Word and I hope everything God has told you elevates your thinking and does not make you blind to your own destiny.
“I do not carry my voice that is why I am able to speak and nations can listen. It is because I carry God’s voice. I am not interested in the when they happen all I know is everything I have spoken in the past has come to pass and I cannot take credit of any! Only God can! I am not worried if what I say comes to pass or not; because I know God worries about that.
“In whatever happens, I represent my God with utmost and ultimate obedience. I cannot think less of Him any day of my life. I will stand with his word forever.”

Medical Student Isabel Mkhosi Dies

An MDC-T cadre, and medical student in South Africa, Isabel Mkhosi has died.
The MDC-T announced on Wednesday morning its shock at the death of Isabel whose untimely departure comes barely two weeks after she complained of chest pains.

Isabel Mkhosi dies
Gone too soon … Isabel Mkhosi

An announcement by the party’s Youth Assembly spokesperson, Tapiwa Shumba, reads:
“We have learnt with great shock, disbelief and sadness the death of Isabel Mkhosi Moyo. She died this morning in Harare. Isabel Mkhosi was the Secretary of the MDC South Africa Provincial Youth Executive. She was also studying towards a medical degree at Witwatersrand University.
“She complained of chest pains during her trip to Zimbabwe and was subsequently admitted at Parirenyatwa hospital in Harare about two weeks ago. Although she kept on asking for prayers and indicating that she was in the Intensive Care Unit; it remained unthinkable that she would succumb to that illness.
“We have known her as the Iron Lady, soft but politically acute. It is sad that she has gone without realising her dream for a free Zimbabwe.
“This is a great loss for all of us. It is a loss for the young people that have fought side by side with Leader Isabel. She was a brave and determined young lady.
“We say Rest in Peace our dear Leader. You fought and you played a very big part. You will forever remain in our hearts. Our memories of you will continue to give us strength towards our quest for freedom and a just, fair and free society for all.
“Further details and funeral arrangements will be made available in due course.”

2.2 Million Zimbabweans Face Massive Food Shortages – UN

Zimbabwe:2.2 Million Zimbabweans Face Massive Food Shortages, United Nations Says
The United Nations’ WPFP program estimates that 2.2 million Zimbabweans will go hungry within the next 4 months.
The body says one in four of the rural population- expected to need food assistance during the pre-harvest period early next year.
This is the highest since early 2009 when more than half the population required food support, the report says.

The extent of predicted hunger is revealed in the recently-published Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ZimVAC) rural livelihoods report which estimates food security levels and identifies affected areas. The study is led by the Government with support from the UN and other partners.
“Many districts, particularly in the south, harvested very little and people are already trying to stretch out their dwindling food stocks,” says UN World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director Sory Ouane. “WFP is working closely with the Government and partners to respond to the looming food crisis and will start food and cash distributions to the most vulnerable in October.”
The report says that to meet the increased needs, WFP and its partners will provide regionally-procured cereals as well as imported vegetable oil and pulses. Cash transfers will be used in selected areas to afford people flexibility and help support local markets.Distributions will be gradually scaled up from October until harvest time in March next year.
The current high levels of food insecurity are being attributed to various factors including adverse weather conditions, the unavailability and high cost of agricultural inputs such as seeds and fertilisers and projected high cereal prices due to the poor maize harvest. WFP monitoring in rural markets has found grain prices 15 percent higher than this time last year.
In 2012, for the first time, the Government of Zimbabwe contributed some US$10 million worth of grain from domestic stocks towards a joint relief operation with WFP and partners. This programme provided food assistance to some 1.4 million people in 37 rural districts. Read the full report here:

Chinhoyi University Investigates ‘Sex Scandal’ Lecturer – Turnmore Machipisa

The Chinhoyi University of Science & Technology has begun investigations on a lecturer by name Mr Turmore Machipisa following a Baba Jukwa ‘tip off’ on Monday.
Allegations against Mr Machipisa who is married are that he has been obtaining sexual gratification from female students in exchange for a leaking of exam papers. ZimEye has verified that Mr Machipisa who has since switched off his phones is indeed a lecturer at the Chinhoyi University of Technology’s Business Faculty.
He is alleged to have leaked more than two exam papers and at least two students were named as victims. Some ‘concerned’ members of the university then forwarded the complaint through social networking guru, Baba Jukwa.

Investigated...Turnmore Machipisa
Investigated…Turnmore Machipisa

The Chinhoyi University’s Registrar General, Thomas Bhebhe told ZimEye an investigation was commencing on Wednesday following the reports.
“I can assure you that investigations will be carried out,” said Mr Bhebhe as he concluded his interview with ZimEye on Wednesday morning.
Part of the unedited complaint reads:

BREAKING NEWS: Politburo Declares Mike Karakadzai & Enos Nkala National Heroes

President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party has declared the former National Railways General Manager, Retired Commodore Mike Karakadzai, together with ZANU PF Co-Founder Enos Nkala, National Heroes.

National hero…Mike Karakadzai

This followed an earlier expose’ by ZimEye that ZANU PF concluded national hero status for the controversial Karakadzai on the same day following a horrific car accident in Matebeleland.
Enos Nkala died the following day of a long illness believed to be of old age. He had been hospitalised at Avenues Clinic for several days until his death.
Meanwhile Air Cdre Karakadzai (Rtd)’s, who was the National Railways of Zimbabwe general manager’s body was on Friday flown from Bulawayo to Harare’s Manyame Air Base for a military parade.
It is believed that the two are to be buried at the same time in the coming few days. At the time of writing it was not clear when exactly this would be.

Zimbabwe:Enos Nkala, ZANU PF Founder Dies

One of the key founding fathers of Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party, Enos Nkala has died.
His death announced on Wednesday morning comes after he was admitted into the Avenues Clinic two weeks before on the 7th August.

On Tuesday the family spokesperson who is Nkala’s nephew, Herbert Nkala, appealed for prayers as his condition deteriorated.
“This is a very distressing period for the entire family. We are, however, grateful for the amazing work doctors and nurses are doing here. At this juncture we are appealing to all Zimbabweans to pray for him,” he said.
Nkala served as the Minister of Finance after independence in 1980 and passed the baton to Bernard Chidzero in 1983. He then became the Minister of National Supplies until 1985, and subsequently Home Affairs and Defence after the 1985 election.
Apart from his work as founding member of ZANU PF in 1963, Nkala was a close confidante of Robert Mugabe who according to former Chronicle and Daily News Editor Geoff Nyarota, was involved in the notorious Gukurahundi massacre of Ndebele people in the eighties. He denies this.
In the years running up to today, Nkala was the major subject of news stories as journalists regularly quoted him regarding his private conversations with Robert Mugabe which included one in which Mugabe allegedly said he wished to quit serving as president.
Nkala’s full age was not known at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Top Historian Diana Mitchell Dismisses Baba Jukwa Uprising

A senior Zimbabwean historian, Diana Mitchell who alone foretold the downfall of the former Ian Smith Rhodesian government way back in 1977 has spoken against thoughts in the wait for an uprising that is being engineered on social networking website Facebook by the faceless MDC character and Zanu PF de-filer, Baba Jukwa.

Opposed by Historian...Baba Jukwa
Dismissed by Historian…Baba Jukwa

Mitchell signalled that an Egyptian style revolution is not possible in Zimbabwe where she has had a wealth of experience analysing complex political forces for the past 40 years.
The statement comes after the faceless character began coordinating a campaign known as Vapanduki (insurgents) on the website. The campaign is a grouping of people who are all opposed to Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF party.
Mitchell is credited for her outstanding work in canonising Zimbabwe’s liberation war heroes at a time when they were internationally regarded as terrorists in the 70s.
Below was her full argument:
Any Zimbabwean, at home and abroad could or should have predicted with absolute certainty that Robert Mugabe and his acolytes would never allow power to slip from their hands. One wonders if the masses of red-clad MDC supporters seen at rallies in the major cities truly believed that their visible numbers and their wishful thinking could somehow vanquish the old dictator. They have learned, once more, as we former `white liberals’ learned in our past, anti-Rhodesian Front struggles, that a `level playing field’ is the first requisite for electoral success in a developing country.
Ian Smith taught Robert Mugabe that control of all the institutions of government – which included the incorporation of the national media – was all that was needed to ensure perpetual rule for the incumbent government. It was the horrific deaths among a relatively few civilians and a miniscule, white-led military, along with a lot of external support for African nationalist freedom fighters, which succeeded in overturning 88 years of white minority rule.
Without weapons or powerful external support, how could free Zimbabweans in the MDC or its leadership have forgotten those lessons of the recent past? So recent are those lessons for now, Zimbabweans will cling to peace as a preferred option. The flames of the Arab Spring’s violent revolutions are not an attractive model for change right now.

Disgusting Invasion of Old Granny’s Home by ZANU PF Youth

In a shocking case of extreme election violence, President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party has come under the spotlight after a party youth freely invaded the home of a frail 87 year old granny’s home, the eldery lady who is being accused of supporting the MDC led by Welshman Ncube.
Mbuya Jestina Guwaya born in July 1924, was singled out by ZANU PF youths after she refused to be associated with pre-election cells in which the party would identify who supports it or not.

Mbuya Jestina removed out of her own house

She aqcuired her house in 80s together with her late husband who died in the 90s and the couple had only one child, Vengai Mangwiro.
Her house which is in in Joburg Lines, Mbare, was however in June invaded by a certain Andrew who is not even related to her in any way but began claiming to be related to her late husband.  He reportedy received help from one Modern Chirwa (chairman of Joshua Nkomo District Zanu PF) & Florence Mutokota (mai Rodrick).
When the matter was reported to the local police, they kept promising to visit the property but have never done so ever since and neither opened the case into files as is officially required. They further stated that this is a political matter which is difficult for anyone to handle. Even after it was again escalated to Matapi Police Station, the police said they were coming last Friday around 8am, but they did not come, as has been revealed by one of the parliamentary candidates for Mbare, Jabulani Charlie who was standing for the MDC led by Welshman Ncube.
Several ZANU PF bigwigs have since been contacted who include the new MP for Mbare, Tendai Savanhu who has given neither comment nor sign of action on the matter.
“ZANU PF does not tolerate victimisation of anyone on the grounds of political positions. If this is true, it can ony be an overzealous person,” said ZANU PF’s UK party chairman, Mangwana
Mbuya Jestina has been receiving handouts of food from well wishers in the area coordinated by the MDC’s Jabulani Charlie.
A comment from South African President Jacob Zuma who recently claimed the just ended elections were free of intimidation and violence was awaited at the time of writing.

Shock as Numerous Dead People’s IDs “Used to Vote” Are Discovered in Chegutu

There was shock in the satelite town of Chegutu on Tuesday morning when residents discovered numerous identity cards many belonging to deceased people and some to those who migrated into the diaspora.
“Every second I am getting calls of people discovering abandoned IDs that were used to rig this election in Chegutu 85% of the IDs in this picture are dead people and a good number in the diaspora. What a Shame to Zuma for endorsing this Fraud,” said MDC-T election candidate for the area, Charlton Hwende.

It was not immediately clear at the time of writing how the names on the ID cards have been linked to the people who actually voted in the election.

Shock as Even Solomon Madzore’s Family Voted for Robert Mugabe

part1, part 1There was shock last week when it emerged some members of the persecuted MDC-T Youth Leader Solomon Madzore who has been in prison for over a year, actually voted for ZANU PF supremo Robert Mugabe.
ZimEye in this series of articles will reveal as has been told that even Madzore’s own 19 year old niece who admires her uncle Solomon, yet ignored MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, and placed her precious X aside Robert Mugabe’s name on the ballot paper last week Wednesday.
What is it that would make a family that has been negatively affected by Robert Mugabe’s security so badly actually choose to vote for the same man who has imprisoned their loved one every year since 2001?, our reporter asked Madzore’s sister, Ellet.

“It is all because of Tsvangirai’s shameful affairs and abuse of women that he has lost much steam with voters,” she told ZimEye.
She added
“Just ask anyone. Do your own survey among especially women across the country. You will see that Mugabe gained popularity over the recent 4 years all because of Tsvangirai’s careless blunders. Do you not recall how he treated Locardia (Tembo)? and how he would jump from one woman to the next after impregnating another?
“Check for instance in Dzivarasekwa. How is that ZANU PF which in 2008 barely had any votes and this year yet was able to encroach Solo by just over 1000 voters?,” she said of the results in which Solomon Madzore beat ZANU PF’s 6591 to 5402 votes.
Ellet however stated that she hopes Mr Mugabe will remove charges against her brother in which the government has been claiming that more than twenty MDC-T members murdered a police officer in Glen View two years ago.

Tsvangirai has issued a statement that he is going to pursue legal channels to challenge the election results. But analysts have said that poll irregularities alone do not explain MDC-T’s defeat. Said senior journalist, Chofamba Sithole on Sunday soon after a BBC News interview: “I’ve reiterated the point that the irregularities alone do not explain MDC’s defeat, that Mugabe may have won anyway because his party played the long game, put in more work after the 2008 elections while the MDC expected goodwill and public clamour for change to carry them past personal scandal for their leader and a lacklustre performance in the inclusive government.” Mr Sithole explained that several surveys were conducted months before elections revealing how ZANU PF gained against Tsvangirai’s MDC party caused by Mr Tsvangirai’s conduct.
Meanwhile other problems with Mr Tsvangirai’s conduct have been to do with his alleged dictatorship style and he was last week warned by his juniors not to impose candidates in Manicaland, and after deciding to do the contrary and imposing people like Giles Mutsekwa and MKD founder Simba Makoni, his MDC-T partywas immediately handed a humiliating defeat last Wednesday.

Zimbabwe Presidential Election ZEC Results: Mugabe Wins by 61%

Below are the official ZEC the just ended presidential elections in Zimbabwe in which Robert Mugabe was on Saturday afternoon announced as winner with 61 percent followed by MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai:
Mugabe 2 110 434 (61%)
Ncube 92 637 (2.68%)
Tsvangirai 1 172 349 (33.94%)
Dabengwa 25 416, (0.74%)
Following the announcement, Morgan Tsvangirai issued a statement that he is to sue the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission on the grounds that the election had gross irregularities.

New Zimbabwe Govt Should Guarantee Democracy: US

New Zimbabwe Leader Should Create Democracy, Says US Govt
The new Zimbabwean government’s leader and his government should facilitate democracy and civilian freedoms, the United States government has said.
In a statement the United States said onerous task of charting a way forward that will give the people of Zimbabwe the opportunity to express their most fundamental democratic right in a free and fair environment, a government statement read as it also revealed concerns on the legitimacy of the poll.

The statement read issued by the Secretary of State, John Kerry read in full:
Zimbabweans voted in their country’s first national elections this week since the violent and disputed polls in 2008. These elections were an opportunity for Zimbabwe to move forward on a democratic path and provide a foundation for growth and prosperity.
The people of Zimbabwe should be commended for rejecting violence and showing their commitment to the democratic process. But make no mistake: in light of substantial electoral irregularities reported by domestic and regional observers, the United States does not believe that the results announced today represent a credible expression of the will of the Zimbabwean people.
Though the United States was restricted from monitoring these elections, the balance of evidence indicates that today’s announcement was the culmination of a deeply flawed process. There were irregularities in the provision and composition of the voters roll. The parties had unequal access to state media. The security sector did not safeguard the electoral process on an even-handed basis. And the government failed to implement the political reforms mandated by Zimbabwe’s new constitution, the Global Political Agreement, and the region.
We urge the Southern African Development Community and the African Union to address their concerns with the electoral process, as well as those raised by domestic monitoring groups. The Government of Zimbabwe needs to chart a way forward that will give the people of Zimbabwe the opportunity to express their most fundamental democratic right in a free and fair environment. We further call on all parties to refrain from violence during this period.
The United States shares the same fundamental interests as the Zimbabwean people: a peaceful, democratic, prosperous Zimbabwe that reflects the will of its people and provides opportunities for them to flourish. For that to happen, the Government of Zimbabwe should heed the voices of its citizens and implement the democratic reforms mandated by the country’s new constitution.
Only then will Zimbabwe truly embark on a path towards democracy that reflects the aspirations of its people.

Zimbabwe: Shocking Vote Rigging Video Haunts Zanu PF Before SADC

Bus from Honde Valley docked at Mt Pleasant on Wwdnesday morning

Zimbabwe: Exclusive Video Showing Zim Vote-Rigging Shames ZANU PF
A video of alleged vote rigging in Harare’s Mt Pleasant area shot on Wednesday morning has continued to haunt ZANU PF despite their celebrated win of the just ended elections. The video which shows the outgoing Finance Minister Tendai Biti exposing youths bussed in from distant areas in Manicaland provinces as evidenced by the bus screamer-tags.
In the video, MDC-T Secretary-General Tendai Biti boldly confronts ZEC officials for address verification details of hundreds of ZANU PF youths bussed from Manicaland’s Honde Valley using Zupco buses to a Mt Pleasant polling station, and the ZEC official fails to answer while agreeing that the youths are clearly not on the voters’ roll. Biti then telephones a colleague to launch an urgent chamber application to declare a cancellation of the special vote process.
In detail, the four-minute clip shows the young people disembarking one of the buses and hiding their faces upon seeing cameras as the join voters in a queue where they are given priority access.
Biti then questions the bus driver who claims he brought the bus from the nearby Belvedere surbub.
But when asked where he picked up the youths, the driver then lifts a finger asking Biti if he is threatening him.
The driver tells Biti he doesn’t trust his question when asked where these people are from.
In anger Biti then makes the phone call.
“We need to file a court application so that their ballots are disqualified. It’s unbelievable… some of them are dispersing now,” he says.
Commenting on the developments, Mavambo Kusile Dawn leader in the UK, Lloyd Nembaware said ZEC clearly has damaged its reputation.
Said Nembaware:
“Obviously the MDC will lay very heavily on that. Don’t forget that Zuma was saying he needs evidence from Tsvangirai  to say the election was rigged so clearly that they can use as evidence. Whether Zuma can go by that I am not sure but that’s a clear piece of evidence they probably could use.”
“But they might have to substantiate that, don’t forget that the presiding officer there was refusing as well saying these guys have official slips.
Nembaware said the ZEC has damaged its image for credibility.
“Unfortunately for ZEC, it has had its reputation tarnished because of a number of irregularities. We saw the fiasco that occurred during the special vote and also questions are abound about the voters roll,” he said.
He added:
“It should have been in ZEC’s interest to make sure the result is not disputed. To not publish the list of polling locations a few days before the elections is atrocious. There clearly is prejudice about this. Zanu PF need not worry too much as the dysfunctional opposition has cleared the way for it by squabbling about posts. We need serious leaders in Africa not those driven by greed, materialism and petty positions.”
Meanwhile the ZEC as expected to finalise its final result announcement on Friday afternoon and it was projected that Mugabe would win by a landslide.

Jacob Zuma Refuses To Speak on Zimbabwe’s Elections Despite ZESN Report

South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma has refused to speak on Zimbabwe’s contentious elections despite the country’s evident failure to uphold its own Electoral laws amid widespread allegations of vote tampering reported by the Zimbabwe Election Support Network(ZESN).
While some reports stated South Africa’s President actually said the MDC parties must prove their claims of vote rigging, Zuma’s spokesman Mac Maharaj, told ZimEye in an interview Thursday night, Pretoria will comment only after receiving the SADC team’s full assessment report on the elections.

MDC should provide the proof...Zuma
MDC should provide the proof…Zuma

“You are aware that there is an official SADC observer mission. We are part of the SADC community; we have a component in the SADC and we are part of the SADC observer mission. We need to get a proper report from them before we make any announcements. It would be premature for us to make any pronouncements at this stage. So we are noting developments and we will wait for the SADC report. ”
Zuma’s response came just after Zimbabwe concluded its national elections which have been disputed after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission withheld the voters’ roll only releasing a paper copy at the last minute amid various reports of youths being bussed to polling centres. Other problems note were on alleged duplications in the voters’ roll.

Despite Fake Voters Roll, I Will Be President: Tsvangirai

Despite a dodgy and disputed voters roll being used in the elections, outgoing Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has said that he is confident of a resounding poll victory which will set him as Zimbabwe’s incoming President.
Casting his own ballot paper at Mt Pleasant flanked by his wife, Tsvangirai indicated this was a historic moment for whole of Zimbabwe. When asked on his projections, he said his victory would be “quite resoundingly.”

Frustrated voters waiting in queue in Budiriro Wednesday morning

His comments however came at the same time as many across the country were denied the right to vote despite having been registered, and also the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC) came under fire from analysts on Tuesday night when the organisation refused to release the voters roll in electronic format only releasing it on hard-paper and also at the last minute.
Tempers flared up when Zimbabweans found out that ZEC misled people on Saturday after claiming that the voters roll had been released to provinces at the weekend which has now turned out to be untrue. A paper copy was later released to various parties and circulated late on Tuesday night. ZimEye has revealed that there are numerous systematic duplications in the voters roll despite vigorous revision work having been performed earlier.

Other critical concerns raised by voters on Wednesday morning were that many people were failing to vote. At around 10am, a group of 23 people was denied the chance to vote in the very same Mount Pleasant area where Tsvangirai was physically casting his vote. They were told that their names did not appear on the voters’ roll even though they had registration slips.
In other parts of the country, widespread reports of people with IDs and voting slips being turned away were made. These included for instance at Bulawayo polling stations where people were told to rather go to what was termed “command centers”. It was not clear what these command centres are, and a comment from ZEC was awaited at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Shock as Massive Duplications Are Found In Voters’ Roll

As Zimbabwe awaited the disputed Voters Roll on Monday night, ZimEye revealed in this article that the long document already contains a string of duplicated names varied only by a sophisticated alteration of names, ID and other descriptive details.
The massive duplicated entries are found in areas that are clearly ZANU PF strongholds which are largely in Mashonaland rural areas.
In this article ZimEye reveals how a carefully constructed programming SQL script was run on the voters roll to make a linear duplication and subtle alteration of digit and name details on the voters roll which favours only one political party.
Many of the duplicated entries are in places such as Mt Darwin, Sanyati, Kwekwe, Mutare, and Rushinga which are ZANU PF strongholds.

Sample Analysis of the live Voters Roll

“We have uncovered massive fraud that gives people the right to cast multiple votes sometimes three, four, to six times through a sophisticated plethora of duplicated ID and address details per person cast over thousands of individuals in a clearly systematic way,” Mguni told ZimEye on Monday morning.
However a further analysis by ZimEye has revealed the computed figures of distortions actually rise to 2.3million duplicate voters which is close to half of the entire voters’ roll.
ZimEye attached a short analysis sample compiled by ZAPU. What varies at other sections in the tables are single digits or letters for the ID number, and at others, just a single alpha-letter difference for a physical address with everything remaining exactly the same with the name and date of birth remaining intact.
When confronted on Friday, ZEC’s Deputy Chairperson Mrs Joyce Kazembe said the commission was investigating the allegations.
“We are trying to establish these concerns and we are already looking into it. Zec has already met with the African Union on our preparedness,” she said.
Kazembe said it would be premature to make a statement on whether a new voter registration exercise would be conducted when just a few days remained to elections without verifying the allegations.

“As I have said, these are not facts but allegations,” she said.
ZAPU’s President Dumiso Dabengwa, has since issued the below statement following the find:
After successfully challenging the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission with court action into publishing,
and making available to the general public the Voter’s Roll, ZAPU got the ZEC to allow us to purchase the said Voter’s Roll as at May 2013.
We then set-out to analyse the said Voter’s Roll.
Here is our abridged and rather incomplete analysis of the Roll: (refer to the attached)
The first comment I have to make is that the previous list contained 317 000 odd entries. The current list  we interrogated now has 40 000.
To us as ZAPU, the two lists raise a lot of suspicion and call for an investigation.
The fundamental point is that without a completely new voter’s registration and a completely new voter’s roll, it is pointless having elections in our country.
If ZAPU had the resources, it would certainly take these matters to the Constitutional Court to draw attention to what we have long been saying, that there is a serious flaw in the voter’s roll and the    result of these elections can never be considered as free and fair.
We wonder why other Parties involved in these elections do not take this issue as serious.
Our ZAPU Vice President presented this concern to the OAU Chairperson earlier today.

Zimbabwe:Final Voters Roll Released In Shreds, But Harare Still Outstanding

National_in-the-news-NATIONAL-Local_stripConCourt gives Zimbabwe voters reprieve. After several weeks of waiting, Zimbabwe’s final voters roll has been released to provinces, albeit in pieces.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission announced on Saturday afternoon that the final voters roll is now on its way to Zimbabwe’s various provinces. This came amid concerns that the ZEC has breached the Electoral Act by not availing the voters’ roll for inspection in good time.
While all other non-ZANU PF parties were clueless on the development, a ZEC official approached by ZimEye confirmed the voters roll had been sent to the provinces but Harare was still outstanding by 5PM Saturday. “It has been sent out to the provinces,” he said.
Harare is however the area with the largest population figures according to informal reports.
The MDC led by Welshman Ncube’s Deputy Spokesperson, Kurauone Chihwayi said his party is currently monitoring developments.
“I heard on the radio that they have dispatched the voters’ roll to provinces except Harare. The MDC is seriously monitoring ZEC’s activities,” he said.
When asked about why the ZEC has delayed releasing the roll for Harare province, Chihwayi said: “No satisfactory answer is being given, But it is all to do with ZEC’s lack of capacity to run credible elections. Zimbabwe is heading towards seriously disputed elections, the MDC will name and shame those involved in the dirty rigging exercise if there is any. Our eyes and ears are very wide open.”

ZEC Has Breached The Electoral Act
According to analysts, ZEC Has Breached Section 21 of the Electoral Act. Argued top lawyer and MDC Legal Affairs Secretary, David Coltart on Wednesday:
“Section 21(4) of the Electoral Act states “within a reasonable period of time after the calling of an election, the Commission shall provide, on payment of the prescribed fee, to every political party that intends to contest the election, and to any observer who requests it, one copy of every voters roll to be used in the election, either in printed or in electronic form as the party or observer may request.”
The MDC has repeatedly asked the ZEC to provide us with a voters roll. Last Friday we wrote to the ZEC asking for a copy of the roll. Today we were advised that we may get a copy of the roll tomorrow but we are concerned that this will not happen.
A “reasonable period of time after the calling of an election” means just that. The election was called on the 13th June and 6 weeks have since elapsed – and yet we still do not have a copy of the voters roll. 6 weeks to supply a voters roll is not a reasonable period of time. Worse than that is the 5 days left before the election is conducted – that is a grossly unreasonable period of time left to study and use the voters roll.
“Voters rolls are meant to be used by political parties the world over to analyse who is in particular constituencies so that they can be spoken to and encouraged to vote. That opportunity is now denied us. Furthermore in the Zimbabwean context where rigging has abounded in the past it is critically important that parties be given sufficient time to analyse and audit the voters roll. That right has now been denied us.
“No satisfactory explanation has been given by the ZEC for their failure to comply with the law and to that extent its credibility as an organisation has been severely tarnished by this very serious breach of the law.
“We can but hope that the voters roll in analysable digital electronic format will be supplied as promised tomorrow.”

EXCLUSIVE: Shock As Tsvangirai’s Driver Is Listed In ZANU PF Top Hierarchy

A driver who was officially assigned to drive Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai from 2005 is in ZANU PF’s top hierarchy, ZimEye can reveal.
This publication can reveal that Mr Liberty Mupakati based in Leeds, a former top executive in the MDC-T structures in the UK, is actually among top echelons of ZANU PF’s UK structure, a development which has shocked many MDC-T leaders.
ZimEye can reveal that Mr Mupakati is part of ZANU PF’s leadership which is currently seeking audience with the  British government for official recognition in what is a revival of ZANU PF’s 1980 relationship with the Conservative party. As at Wednesday,  they were already planning to approach the British Prime Minister David Cameron once they have been given the go ahead from Harare.

Double Agent? Liberty Mupakati
Double Agent? Liberty Mupakati

Mr Mupakati once drove around Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai in 2005 when the MDC-T leader officiated a crucial meeting in Leeds. See CORRECTION: Mr Liberty Mupakati Morgan Tsvangirai’s UK Leeds Driver in 2005
Former chairman “Ephraim Tapa was approached and clearly knew that Mupakati had strong links to ZANU PF and Tapa however did not do anything about it and continued even campaigning together with Mupakati. I think even now the MDC-T remains infiltrated,” a concerned MDC-T leader added.
Meanwhile other people named in ZANU PF’s UK structure included the Glasgow based former top MDC-T activist, Silence Chihuri and the controversial Tichaona Mutyambizi who is reportedly currently facing rape charges back in Zimbabwe but is leading as the Senior Secretary for Commissariat.
The latest meetings and discussions held this month have had Mr Mupakati being elected Vice Secretary for Commissariat, and Chihuri being provisionally assigned for the Vice Provincial Chairperson post.

Already at each others throats.
But before they meet David Cameron, the ZANU PF leaders are already at each others throats. This week Mr Tichaona Mutyambizi was blasted after he fired some of the committee members.
“Let me be very clear with Cde Tich. He has no mandate whatsoever to dismiss me from the Party. When the time comes for me to leave I will do so voluntarily. Zanu PF is not his private property for goodness sake,” said one member who was fired earlier this week.

Silence Chihuri.
Of Chihuri, it has been said the latter has been a member of just about every party. Up to 2005 he was part of MDC-T. When the split occurred, he then joined Welshman Ncube’s faction where he was a treasurer, before soon leaving and becoming an executive of Mavambo Kusile Dawn, afterwhich he then moved to start his own party, The Zimbabwe We Can, which later flopped within less than 8 weeks.

Baba Jukwa Blasted By ZANU PF’s Fidelis Fengu: “Number Plate Isn’t Zimbabwean”

Zimbabwe’s most followed Facebook mole-leaker, Baba Jukwa, has been blasted by ZANU PF’s Fidelis Fengu who the former on Thursday night accused of coordinating the transportation of ballot boxes in unmarked vehicles for the purpose of vote rigging ahead of next week’s general elections.
Fengu fired back dismissing Jukwa saying even the number plate he provided for a vehicle which listed as having six digits, is fake as it does not represent a valid Zimbabwean number plate.
Baba Jukwa yesterday said Fengu is spearheading the transportation of ballot boxes to a Highlands location. “Zimbabwe as I speak right now ballot papers are being transported in six unmarked cars to another secret location in Highlands spear headed by Fidelis Fengu. There was a leak discovered at KG6 that there were ballot papers there so now they are being moved to the location I mentioned in Highlands the house where torture of people occur at the hands of the CIO.”  Baba Jukwa then added that a vehicle having diamonds for a Russian buyer and with number plate ‘ABD 116 429’ was last night at 11PM driven to Harare International airport.fengu
But Mr Fengu on Friday said the number plate Jukwa published is not even of valid Zimbabwean origin since Zimbabwean plates have four digits. “It is amazing that an individual thinks that I can assume the role and responsibility of ZEC. This is the same individual who once said I had rebelled against the party. We are dealing with a delusional and bored individual who is desperately seeking to justify his party’s subsequent defeat in the polls.
